Shout out to my fellow rtc and npmd fans, because I'm about to fuel the fire that I created (and you guys encouraged) with this crossover fic that I just started. If I don't have the first chapter posted by tomorrow, someone needs to hit me (because it's almost already written).
Beginning to think I should talk more about the fanfictions I want to write, bc the notes give me way more motivation than just my own abilities.

I carried this thing for MONTHS with the EXPRESS PURPOSE of putting Raphael in it (knowing full well Larian wouldn't let me do that, mechanically) and I had one major miscalculation.

also yall we need to step back from the harryvision and understand that kim, at his core, is a loser (affectionate) like everyone else. so much out there wants to portray him as limitless patience, great cook, super organized, good handwriting, nice tasteful living quarters etc and that's fun to contrast him to harry but well i am here to RUIN that we need to take off the du bois glasses and appreciate kim for the weirdguy that he is. he has horrific fits of road rage and harry genuinely fears for his life riding along with him and witnessing the generational curses this man is capable of unleashing upon the stupid little fucks that cut him off on the 8/81. he has never had the time or space or budget to learn to cook so he lives off deli sandwiches and butter noodles and the occasional grab-and-go fruit. he writes so much so frequently with such awful handwriting that he has invented a new form of shorthand and the moralintern is contacting him to create a cipher system for them. he has no resources to furnish and maintain a nice flat so it's like a slightly gentrified r/malelivingspace but with a table for his sewing machine and there's scrap fabric and thread and half-pinned half-hemmed pants strewn about the place. there are absolutely a bunch of shitty mockups of his old wirral character in the backs of his notebooks and he hasn't played it in years but if he ever picks it back up then his minmax high int high dex definitely-not-a-self-insert sidhe artificer is READY. everyone add your weirdguy kim thoughts NOW 👇

The answers Marisha gave in this 4SD felt a lot more realized than in the past, which is good! But it still makes me feel like this character concept is incredibly ambitious and when juxtaposed with the various "I don't want to think anymore"/"go with the flow" statements I'm not sure she realized that.
The biggest example is that Laudna has two conflicting traits: she is extremely sensitive to betrayal, and she is very quick to trust even after experiencing a number of betrayals in her life. And when I say "conflicting" I mean that they are in conflict with each other, not that it doesn't make sense for a character to be a complicated person with traits that frequently work against them; in fact that's in my opinion a fantastic way to create a compelling character. But it feels like the why is only just starting to get explored in any capacity, and because of that even good choices raise more questions: why is this only coming out now; why so young a regression; why has it peeked out so weirdly and inconsistently in the past; why haven't the repeated betrayals in the past two months affected her mindset and made her more closed off. It once again makes me really wish we'd gotten a sustained outburst after the party reunited, because that would have made far more sense - a fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me situation.
I agree with the opinion that Laudna conceptually just fits far more with being an actual child herself - her desire to befriend children frankly comes off slightly weirder (not line-crossing or anything, just a little off) than it would had she died younger, as does her approach of dolls, and her failure to do anything with Delilah would make a lot more sense if she was at an age to be much more reliant. It would also make her inability to just blend into a city much more reasonable; no one is going to rent to a lone 11 year old. It really does feel that when the creepy child idea was rejected - which is a valid choice - it wasn't reworked sufficiently to fit someone who died in her late teens or early 20s.
I also don't really get the idea of her childlike nature being without malice. A pretty consistent theme for the various traumatic childhoods the characters of Bells Hells (and, tbh, past parties as well) has been the cruelty children are capable of - Ashton even says it in 3x78. Delilah being stuck with someone without malice would honestly lead to a situation in which Laudna was very trusting of her, which isn't the case, which again goes back to the conflict of betrayal as a trigger vs. being so quick to trust. Given that Laudna was frequently bullied and rejected as a kid, one would think she'd be aware of this. The specific example of Delilah calling Ashton a child and Laudna making him a doll still works wonderfully, but the overarching theme falls apart in places.
I think things have been on an upswing as of late, but ultimately we're at a point where, without some retcons I don't think Laudna will ever truly make complete sense because it's just such an intensive concept that did not get the work that required, and still feels reliant on a now-rejected premise.

We all know how a lot of Luffy's opponents have been in some ways premonitions of the type of person Luffy could end up as if something went wrong in his life. For example Moria is what Luffy could've become had he truly lost his entire crew at Sabaody if Kuma had not saved them
And we know Crocodile is what Luffy maybe could've become had Luffy given up on his dreams and become jaded after losing to him. But like, when you think about it, that's not the only dark reflection of Luffy in Crocodile, is it
'Cause Crocodile, despite employing people for Baroque Works, did not trust anyone around him and did not considder anyone to be anything else but an employee to him. And we know he had been planning on taking over Alabasta for like 14 years (at the very least), BW being a thing for only the past four (pre-timeskip)
So like. Did Crocodile spend the last 14 years alone
Like yes he had his workers at the Casino and Robin etc, so he was like, around people, he wasn't like Brook who was in Total Isolation. But on an emotional level, has he not spent the last 14 years all by himself, completely detached from anyone, unable to trust or rely on anyone else?
That is sad as fucking shit, holy hell
'Cause then you compare him to like Luffy and like
Tumblr media
Our sweet baby boy was so afraid of being alone that Luffy literally went through hell just to gain Ace's approval despite Ace trying to signal to him he wasn't interested befriending him
And through out the whole series Luffy reiterates time and time again how he needs and wants his friends around because he literally can't live without them, both on a literal "he can't cook or navigate or have fun by himself" level but also on that emotional level
And Crocodile just. Spent 14 years of his life, if not longer, alone.
Sweet jesus what happened to this man
And that just makes me further wonder, what the absolute fuck were Crocodile's Rookie Pirate days like?? Like did he have a crew or was he just yolo'ing it by himself???
Like. Mihawk's never been on a crew as far as we know. Kuma was a Revolutionary, not a pirate, but he wasn't like alone still. Doflaming, Hancock, Jinbei and Moria however have/had crews of their own. So what was Crocodile's deal? Did he have a crew before? Was he a captain or was he on someone else's ship? (Although surely the Government wouldn't offer the position of a Shichibukai to a cabin boy or the first mate, right)
And if he did have a crew, the hell happened to them??
Like we know Crocodile got his ass kicked by Whitebeard, I just find it unlikely Whitebeard would've pulled a Kaidou on Crocodile's crew and slaughtered them, that's not a very Whitebeard-y thing do, right?? ...Unless Whitebeard was just different 20+ years ago and was willing to annihilate entire crews. We don't know. Or maybe Crocodile and his entire crew were like Turbo Rotten from the beginning and Whitebeard figured they deserved to get wiped out, much like how we saw Shanks wipe out Kid's crew at Elbaf. Or maybe Whitebeard saw no reason to have mercy on someone affiliated with the World Government.
That all said, if we wanted to assume Crocodile had somekind of trauma that lead to him viewing people not only as disposable but also untrustworthy, then maybe losing people dear to him like that wouldn't lead to that mindset. Like Moria witnessed his beloved crew die and that caused him to want to create a crew he couldn't die, so he wouldn't go through that emotional trauma again.
Which leaves me to wonder. If something caused him to lose his ability to (emotionally) trust people, and if Whitebeard broke his dreams... Maybe Crocodile had a crew. And maybe they abandoned him when he lost to Whitebeard. Figuring they didn't need a weak captain who was probably going to bleed to death anyways. Or maybe the crew tried to take his head (after Whitebeard kicked his ass), after all, he was already a Shichibukai, anybody who took Crocodile's head could maybe attempt to take that title for themselves if the Government allowed it, and if not, at least gain more fame for themselves.
Either of these scenarios would certainly result in you losing your ability to rely on others. And leave you willing to spend the rest of your life alone. Who would have in them to go through that again.
Or maybe he came out of the womb unable to trust people and he was just yolo'ing it by himself like Mihawk right from the begining, who knows
Regardless I'm just

resisted writing my time travel peter maximoff fic for one singular day WIP
A/N: For the purposes of this fic i am ignoring Dark Phoenix because this is based off a really detailed dream i had
When Magneto had joined the X-Men (as coined by Raven) after the events of Apocalypse, Peter had thought “this might be my chance to tell him”. But as the weeks passed, and Erik stayed, Peter’s confidence plummeted. He stopped thinking, “is this the right moment to tell him?” and started thinking “what if he asks why I waited so long to tell him?”. Ororo and Raven both tried to nudge him into action, but their pushes only made him curl up tighter into his metaphorical shell. It didn’t help that Erik signed up to be a teacher, and help out with the children, and Raven must have told Charles something because Peter found his schedule included Erik’s class. He hadn’t even agreed to go to school there. As far as Peter was concerned, his days of school were over. He’s just a grown man living in his mom’s basement, occasionally saving the world. Except now he had a class schedule where his father was his teacher, he had a room of his own at Charles’s mansion, and someone must’ve told his mom because she actually called him to let him know that she was so proud that he was “pursuing further education”.
Great. Just great.
Having Erik as a teacher was surprisingly…. normal. Erik was teaching history, of all things, but Peter held back from cracking any joke relating age to knowledge of history. He was trying to make his dad like him, first. And Erik was a good teacher; he was encouraging, he didn’t lash out, though he rarely gave much more than a tight-lipped smile when anyone answered a question right.
Peter soaked up any time with Erik like a sponge. He didn’t attend the X-Men training, so all Peter had was class and the times after class, during mealtimes that Peter normally would’ve rushed off after cleaning his plate. Instead, Peter found himself even loitering outside Erik’s class during study hours, scuffing the ground with his shoe. If the wooden floor was worn down outside Erik’s door, no one would know it was because of Peter. Except, you know, Charles. And probably Raven. And maybe Hank because Raven told Hank everything. And Ororo. And Jean. And Scott because Jean tells Scott everything. And Kurt because Scott can’t keep his mouth shut. And-
The point was, if Erik had any suspicions about Peter spending a lot of time outside his door, he didn’t let on. He treated Peter almost like any other student, save for more tight-lipped smiles. It was probably because he remembered Peter broke him out of the Pentagon, or something, but the almost unnoticeable special treatment gave Peter hope. Not enough hope to do anything about it, though.
Peter kept loitering around Erik. Raven kept pushing him. Nothing came out of Peter’s mouth.
They were fighting a villain when it all came to a head. It was a dangerous mutant, more powerful than the average mutant, one who had been attacking other mutants in some sort of lashing-out moment, furious at their own differences and taking it out on their people instead of the humans. It wouldn’t have mattered who the mutant was lashing out about, as the X-Men would’ve come to save the day either way. But the mutant was strong, strong enough to take out Scott in a single hit, so Magneto and Raven were even on their side to help take down the villain. Or “A misunderstood, hurting individual,” as the Charles in Peter’s head chides. Not the real Charles, mind you, just Peter’s interpretation of what Charles might say in this moment. God, he must drive Charles up the walls every time the telepath takes a peek inside the speedster’s head.
They were fighting the villain, Scott was down and thus Jean was preoccupied. Ororo was cooking up a storm and Raven was planning something with Hank, but whatever their plan was, it wasn’t happening fast enough. It was essentially Erik and Peter alone against the villain.
“What a duo we make, huh?” Peter tried to say as he dodged the mutant’s blows with ease. He wasn’t really sure what the mutant’s powers were. Super strength, for sure, but there was something else there that made the telepaths useless.
“Less talking, more taking down the threat,” Erik snapped back, summoning metal to throw at the man with a curl of his fingers. Right. Right right right.
Peter threw a hit at the mutant and then bounced away as the mutant released some sort of force field that would’ve blown him backward if Peter hadn’t been out of range already.
“We’ve got something, just buy us some time!” Raven shouts into the earpiece over comms. What were they even doing before then, if not buying time? Peter wonders sarcastically, but keeps the snark to himself. He lands another two hits on the mutant, but it’s hard to get up close to the villain as Erik is shooting metal from all directions at the mutant.
“Got it!” Raven barks, and the mutant jerks his head in the direction of the blue duo. Peter takes advantage of the distraction to leap forward and land another hit.
“Peter look out!” Erik barks suddenly, and Peter turns to see Raven pointing some sort of mechanical contraption, no doubt built by Hank, at the mutant. Which means, by extension, it was pointed at Peter. He steps backward, alarmed, but he trips over some debris and goes down.
“Are you fucking kidding me-” Peter starts to say, just as the machine blasts a beam that surrounds him. It’s bright, too bright, and he closes ihs eyes against the blinding light as pain consumes him. He lets out a shout, and Erik lunges forward, but Peter is already gone.

MP100 Fallout AU
I wrote down some headcanons for this AU (& others) in February & well, come April there's suddenly a Fallout TV series? (& there are Magic the Gathering Fallout cards since earlier this year, too??) Well Fallout brainrot is revived, here's long-ass worldbuilding/background ramblings.
Vault Tec & Claw
Claw existed before the Great War as an organization researching psychic abilities; though in this universe powers initially don't nearly reach the levels of MP100 canon
Toichiro & his wife start working with Vault Tec overseas & are assigned Vault 100, that is just being constructed
They are to conduct experiments with FEV-variants on promising psychics to try & enhance their abilities by new means the vaults offer in the future
Mob is born in 2058
Several years later Toichiro starts to "collect" mostly young espers to populate the vault with; of course the plan of direct & experimentation with yet unknown risks is left out
Parents of the kids he's interested in are offered contracts that promise a safe place for them to survive with the downside of being taken away to 'monitor', but the desperation over the worsening state of the world makes it easy to agree
The Kageyamas even beg for them to take both their sons, not only the one with some innate abilities - and succeed
Toichiro's wife leaves him over the increasingly unethical plans for the vault, but to her dismay their own son stays with his father
Vault Occupancy
In 2072 the contracts take effect & Vault 100 is populated and sealed (with mostly kids from JP & USA families)
Toichiro & the Ultimate 5 are in charge and oversee the vault and experiments
For about two years the vault is operated with its young residents living a pretty standard vault life, they have restricted permission to be in contact with their families
As the experiments so far show no effect & the young population is getting harder to control, the decision is made to make them enter cryosleep early & continue with different lines of experimentation while in this state
In 2074 all residents except the six in charge enter cryosleep, including Toichiro's own son
Correspondence with parents of the kids is fabricated from here on
Many of the kids die in the next few years while supplemented with barely tested substances to increase their affinities
In 2077 on the day of the Great War, Toichiro & the Ultimate 5 enter cryosleep themselves, joining their own experiments as subjects now that the fatality rates have reached 0 & brain scans look promising
They set their own systems to awake at a scheduled point in the future
Post-Apocalypse
It goes as planned; the 6 of them wake up & find themselves enhanced with never before seen psychic powers, marking their final experiments a success
Vault 100 is unsealed & Toichiro wakes only Sho from the remaining children, to take him with him
Sho is initially too weak to fight back but doesn't take to it kindly; as soon as he is able he goes back
He wakes Ritsu first, of course
Together they start waking the remaining kids - some of them, including Ritsu, don't seem to see any changes in their abilities, several of them are incredibly disoriented
However, Mob's cryopod malfunctions and won't release him - they could break it, but can't guarantee his survival should they forcibly remove him
They can only try to look for someone to help, so even if Ritsu has a hard time leaving he and Sho start their wasteland journey with that mission, while Teru stays back to watch over the others and Mob
Unfortunately Toichirou comes back in search of Sho and they are forced to flee, leaving Mob unattended
Reigen & Mob
Not too long after everyone's gone, Reigen instead finds the vault - it looks newly opened which could promise a fortune (& he isn't so wrong about that)
Despite, or because, not knowing what he's doing, he ends up accidentally releasing the single kid left
Mob is fine but overwhelmed & immediately starts frantically looking for Ritsu
Reigen's words don't get through to Mob - he gets some reaction when he talks to him in Japanese, but ultimate can just follow while Mob scours the whole vault
Soon he gets a showcase of Mob's new powers & in their strongest form, while Mob reaches 100% despair
In the explosion, most of the vault is destroyed
Reigen is shocked but fascinated and he stays with Mob and calms him
His initial plan to bring the kid somewhere safe asap change with the idea of taking him with him to profit from these powers - Reigen himself is not the strongest & survives mainly on charisma & luck out there
Reigen lies to him about knowing more than he does & possibly being able to help him find his brother
Throughout Mob's traumatic awakening into an entirely unknown world alone Reigen is his only company & guidance, so Mob trusts him quickly - & Reigen gets attached quickly
Reigen continues lying but his own gains aside, he soon genuinely tries to help Mob find Ritsu as well as the truth
Somewhere along on their journey they meet Dimple, an intelligent super mutant & he tags along, initially also out of interest in Mob's powers

Teehee, OC stuffs mainly, but lotsa Fresh in there too. Even did a lil writing based off the middle comic (fresh and HCT (square robo), put it in a readmore
Its set after game events, and also my undrawn comic events regarding my two ocs, just a lil convo between an protective guard robo and the guy who caused them to almost kill their boss
Lel had swept out like a whirlwind, leaving the two in silence, studiously ignoring one another as they waited for the scientist to return. Fresh fidled with their headset, while the robot simply stared straight at the empty doorway Lel had disappeared through.
"STATEMENT: Clear dislike of subject." Cut through the silence, leaving the beat surprised it was broken at all.
Fresh couldn't help but roll their eye once they actually registered the obvious understatement. Anytime they came to talk to Lel, the robot was never too far away, hovering in a corner somewhere like the obnoxiously overprotective guard dog it was built to be. Not the worst reaction they've gotten from someone, but after enough time it became... grating.
"Unsurprising." The beat couldn't help the disdain and dismissal that dripped off the single word, cutting their gaze away from the robot.
"EXPOUND: Subject is the cause of PRIMARY OBJECTIVE failure."
That alone brought their attention back to the conversation. It wasn't rare that Fresh learned whatever particular reason a person had for hating them, but they haven't yet heard one from the robot. Usually it was something along the lines of tearing apart the Treeangle, or turning the seas pink. Nothing ever personal enough that they actually cared - beyond those flowers they beat up during their freedom-induced rampage, - but the beat was curious to hear whatever reason had taken it so long to spit out.
"Yeah? And what's that?"
The robot gazed up ever so slightly, as if reading it out from thin air: "PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Keep USER Lel safe, hale, and happy."
Fresh couldn't help but flinch back as the robot slowly turned to face them, a single glowing pupil growing to encompass its entire eye in an admittedly very unnerving display. They could almost imagine how threatening the machine had looked when corrupted with the single spark of pink flickering in its eye, sharp claws pointing at the beat.
"STATEMENT: Cause of PRIMARY OBJECTIVE failure."
That simple sentence was just the truth, but nothing had ever felt more like an accusation, judgement, and condemnation than that. It struck true like an execution, guilt tying a noose around their neck and rendering them silent. There was nothing Fresh could say to to defend themself, no excuses to give, and none that they'd want to try. Maybe if they hadn't grown so close to the scientist these past few weeks, that single sentence wouldn't feel so bad, but... the knowledge that they had a hand in Lel's pain, in that kind scientist's fear...
Maybe they could understand HCT's hatred a little better.
"VEXATION: Subject is.-"  The fragmented sentence was was enough to pull their thoughts out of the spiral they were going down, and Fresh couldn't almost help but feel grateful towards the robot, even as it turned back away from them. With its pupil returned to normal size, they were able to see its expression change from angry, to fustrated, and settle on annoyed as it found a way to complete its sentence, "..tolerated, by USER Lel."
Fresh snorted.
"I think they do more than tolerate me." They replied, mind drifting back to all the times they've poked around the lab, only to be caught by Lel, and not scolded, but taught about how whatever equipment they were poking at worked.
How, even as the scientist threw a million questions their way, they were kind enough to notice the ones the beat shied away from, and not ask anymore. The snacks, the smiles, the simple greetings and waves if they ever passed one another elsewhere in Paradise. They wouldn't be surpised if Lel counted them as an friend.
The beat knew they counted them as one.
There was a sound Fresh could almost describe as a prim sniff, if it hadn't come from the robot bigger than they were, "EXPOUND: Lethal force distinctly unauthorized."
Lel rushed back into the room to see Fresh in tears on the floor, gasping for air as they cackled, while HCT stood, seemingly unmoved as it glared off to the side.
