Its been a while

It's been a long time. I believe I started this blog when I was 16 years old lol... I turned 24 a few months ago!

So why haven't I been posting? Mental heath. My word of advice is if you are being abuse, actively abused, speak out.

I have been in therapy and well, I can say that I was finally able to let someone know what I experienced.

My grew up with my father being a herion, meth and cocaine addict. Fortunately he has been clean and sober for 7 years. Some issues with my brother, and the worst of all a disturbingly narcissistic gaslighting physically and mentally abusive sister. I am the baby of the family. My sister is more than a decade older than me.

Without going into too much detail, I git diagnosed with ASD as an adult... my sister used to call me "a dumbass ret*rd".

Age 6, I was setting up Christmas cookies for Santa, she didn't like how I arrange it, tried to place them her way... I told her that I didn't like it that way, I thought my was was creative. She stormed off into her room while calling me retarded, then on Christmas Day at the restaurant I tried to sit next to her to apologize, she pushed me out of the booth so that I would fall on the ground.

At the age of 7 she forced to drive a motorboat (no regard for my boundary, despite me saying "no im scared") I was crying the whole time while driving, while her fiancé (now husband) had the boat go max speed, while situationally being told if I make one mistake everyone (my family) on the boat will die. Guess what? I dont have my drivers license. Im too scared to drive.

I had helped her with thanksgiving decor, I had accidentally knocked over a glass candle stick; it broke... her response as a grown married woman with a kid? She pushed me out of her house in the rain, as I tried to grab my shoes she said No and to walk home bare foot. Then proceeds to kick me square in the center of my chest ... I was 13, she was in her mid 20's

She got mad at me because I didn't want to be friends with her sister-in-law's rude cousin during our Vegas trip so after I babysat her kids for 3 hours, she comes back to the hotel room belligerently drunk, yanks my MacBook from my lap, holds it open... only to smash it on the next bed, the hinges broke.

there is more in between, but the last incident I had with her was she blatantly lied to me in the car coming home from Koreatown, I had a panic attack about her lie... the situation was starting to escalate, I asked her to not speak to me for about 5 minutes so I can ground myself. but she can speak to anyone else in the car. Apparently she didn't like that and that I dont have panic attacks.

Did I confront her before? Oh yeah, several times... what happened? "Im sorry but...", "that never happened" "Your exaggerating" "It didn't happen like that" and worst of all "im sorry you feel that way"

Did you not watch the video where all the elderly people were discussing how Korea economy completely boosted because of them? Did you not see how they were worried about the enlistment because of koreas economy going down? Did you not hear how they literally said that BTS helped Korea become “the richest nation in Asia” even though the won to dollar is still very low.

That entire discussion should have never even happened if they were able to make enough money on their own. They are also having bts to national events to help boost the economy, I don’t understand how that’s normal.

Why do you have so much anger

When someone has fallacious beliefs about what I think, my opinions, etc I get upset and use colorful language. The last time I was truly angry was during a family situation and we don’t need to go into that on a kpop blog. And there probably were times where I may have projected my personal emotions upon my post but I was 17 years old going through court stuff as well.

However… I’ve been on anti depressants since 2019 and I also smoke pot (I live in SoCal, and im about to be 23) I think it’s quite hard for the brain to be angry. I also take care of like 10 plants so that’s a bonus

as someone whos been in and out of the kpop sphere for well over 10yrs and witnessed 2nd gen -> 3rd gen and now -> 4th gen i know of no other music genre w a history so organized(?) i think it def comes from the insanely fast turnover rate of kpop groups; the 7 year curse is very real and i would argue most groups legacy and peak can usually be distilled into a few years

for example girls generations peak influence was prob from 2009-2013 (gee, genie, hoot, oh, the boys, igab) although theyve had hits outside of that obviously 2009-2013 was still the most profitable w their tours and japanese and american debut and the members started mostly doing solo activities after 2015 notably taeyeon debuted with I in 2015 [so far gd and taeyeon are the most notable kpop soloists w longevity oh hyuna too but hyuna always felt more solo than 4minute or wonder girls]

for big bang i would argue it 2007-2012 (starting w lies, haru haru, tonight and alive eps) although its a bit harder to nail down w big bangs notoriously long hiatus and g-dragon (2008-2014 heartbreaker, one of a kind, coup d’etat) plus taeyang’s (2010-2014 i need a girl, wedding dress, eyes lips nose) solo careers following a different trajectory and peak (2014 mama) arguable that MADE (2015) was their real peak before enlistment and after long hiatus

exo (2013-2017), twice (2015-2020~), shinee (2008-2013), 2NE1 (2009-2014), bts (2015-2020~) [i personally think bts peaked musically between skool luv affair and wings]

you can do this w any group the point is kpops insanely high turnover rate and the industry’s obsession with young and fresh faces makes it so longevity/artistic growth arent as valued as something new (there are an insane amount of rising groups rn ask whos the 4th gen leader on twitter and there will be violence) and kpop idols go into their careers knowing its not sustainable and most will pivot to acting, modeling, going solo, or something else and very few reach any mainstream or critical acclaim as a soloist from a group (big bang’s individual solo work early in their definitely made them stand out among bgs of that era as shinee also all went solo rather successfully they did so after shinee’s peak popularity) i think bts used a similar strategy when giving each member a solo song in wings. there also is always the one person that become the face and most popular eventually synonymous (suzy in miss a, zico in block b, cha eunwoo in astro, wonyoung in ive, hyuna in 4minute) etc. with the group brand thats probably not the idea for the rest of the group but it profitable and kpop companies typically arent too invested in their artists going solo if they wont be successful (contracts are usually only last 7 yrs) [new kpop idols should thank jyj (former tvxq/dbsk) and their lawsuit for korea fair trade commission’s 7 year limit for entertainment contracts; kris luhan tao also continued the sm tradition of sueing for worker’s rights] anyways idk what my point is here ive just been in the kpop meta for too long i feel old and wise but the message to all kpop fans esp new ones… its all capitalism <3 i know some groups self produce or wtv but its all for profit think about why youre buying 6 versions of the same album when you dont even have a cd player and if thats you than more power to you buying things is fun just remember kpop is not that deep bc its run by corporate overlords i’ll leave this with some potentially obscure older recs: a fool of tears - big bang, black hole - shinee, express 999 - girls’ generation, signal - f(x), dont flirt - winner [yg’s who is next was emotional damage produce101 before p101] , change - hyuna, mental breaker - block b (underrated rap line park kyung zico p.o. also from a meta sense bts and block b are very similar bts got a lot more success prob due to smart musical choices and marketing and a little luck

1. Stop using korean term "oppa" as some sort of hahahehe moment. It's not. It's a respectful language and you are so fucking disgusting for using it like that.

How am I disgusting for using the word "오빠" when I have literally lived in South Korea and actually speak Korean? I graduated from a korean language institute... I've literally been given the okay by native Koreans to use their language how I want because I was taught how and when to use it. In reality all 오빠 means is “older brother” its not about honorifics its just a noun... like the word 남동생 just means younger brother, same with 형, etc. It’s not that deep in this day and age, we are not living in the beginning of the Korean empire. Its more rude to address someone by their name without using 씨 or 님.

Im a hairdresser, I grew up in a salon. How is that miserable? I literally make money doing what I love which I wish upon you

Im not on a high horse but I have an in to them, I dont just buy tickets to meet them. Like AEG as well as my fathers friend is literally the English teacher to some of the kpoppers

I dont hate BTS, where did I say that. I hate their lardball ass CEO. If you dont like my content why do you see coming back. why are you on my page? I actually realized that I have some legit personal beef stories with an actual Kpop star that started pre-debut like way pre-debut. It just too me a while because her face changed a little bit and in all honesty I truly couldn't not believe it was her. Ill tell the story, but ill leave the idol out :)

I’ve also stopped posting in 2019 because of my school trip to So.Kor (maybe that’s what makes you angry as well???)But my life honestly is full of fashion, cosmetology, and dance lmafo. If you read my off comments you’d know the real me that pops out. Every thing I say on my blog is pretty consistent, givens that I literally know someone who worked in one of the top positions at AEG. Come off anon and message me if you want receipts, im happy to provide them to you givens you really think im just bullshiting and criticizing.

Oh and Honey, the word several means more than three, I don’t recall “hating/criticizing” “several” groups, what I do remeber is criticizing specific members in the group as well as songs and companies because I genuinely don’t like them, I still stand by that unless I make a post changing my mind. Like Kris from exo. BTW you didn’t link me to anything, literally just back to my own blog which I see if I so bother to log in.

In all honesty I’m sorry that your group is going through a hiatus and I’m sorry it’s labeled as indefinite… as well as it’s their seventh year and we know what that means if you been involved in kpop for long enough. You can be sad about it, I was when block b went on hiatus for the first time and when b.a.p went on hiatus and then disbanded. However project your anger elsewhere because this is what I talking about, your the army type I’m talking about. I’m sorry my bias group is still active. Don’t count your eggs before they hatch and calm down there’s more kpoppers out there… also maybe talk to your therapist about this behavior because this isn’t really normal.

I hope you don't mind me replying to your post, I way just having time to think about somethings on how to explain more on why I feel the way I do as an asian American having POTUS choose BTS to literally represent me. I hope that none of these things sound trivial.

Just for the record, in my personal opinion the only BTS member that I would let speak on my behalf as an AAPI would be Jin. Although Jin is not American nor has he lived in America he was a foreign exchange student in Australia, who am I to say that nothing racial ever happened to him.

Aa an Asian American growing up and even surviving in the world today is not the same experience that BTS has had growing up and faces every day. Now my examples may be different from other AAPI’s as I am half European as well as South East Asian. I am also writing this in comparison to my life in South Korea as well.

1.) School Lunches I can whole-heartedly tell you that BTS did not have the same experience that every single Asian kid had at school in the United States. I would bring Chicken Adobo to school, and heck I would get made fun of for that... you know why? simply because there was a bay leaf. Kids called my food dirty. I begged my parents to stop packing me Filipino food. In 6th grade all the Asians ended up sitting at the same table out of comfort, and on the clock, every Friday you would have a group of jerks that would come up to our table and tell up how gross, stinky, and weird our food was. Do you know what happened at BTS’s school??? everyone ate kimchi.

2.) Being the only/Only being a few Asians at school Now this is a given on why BTS clearly did not experience this as South Korea is literally about 95% Korean. I mean everywhere they looked they'd find someone that has their features and share the same culture. Have you ever wonder why Asians at school usually only hang out with other Asians? It’s not because we hate you or we dont want to be your friend. It’s a safety net because they're are only about 10-15 Asian kids at school my school district was LAUSD wether you were the same asian or not, there was a level of respect and a sense of freedom. A group of people you could hang around and literally let your hair down, be carefree, and not be judged on what your face looks like for about 15 minutes before the next class started. Don't even get me started on being laughed at by the entire class simply for being filipino.

3.) Parents BTS’s parents sure did not get laughed at by cashiers, on the phone. by classmates, by random people. They lived and still reside in Korea where they speak Korean, their native language. I dont think they had an accent issue or a language issue. the only time would be because of a dialect issue but thats mire about class. My parent has has that problem. In professional settings he has been laughed at because of the way he pronounces his P’s, F’s, B’s. and V’s. And get this, Although my dad speaks 3 languages, he often get treated as if he is illiterate simply because his accent but also, when you have more than one language going on in your head, you do forget words.

4.) Being Asian and walking outside You know, when BTS goes about their day just galivanting around everyone around then, next to them, down the street, 5 miles down, down in the next province, up in the north. their all Korean. They all eat the same food as you had the they all look like you. Okay so when I walk outside like im the only asian on my block, I've been called a Chick, China Girl, Chinita, Heck, I've even been told to go back to my country even though I've lived here longer than they have. I was in my was to a Hyukoh concert in West Hollywood and I took some dudes usual parking spot; As soon as I got out of the car he yelled at me “Move your car you fucking chink”. After the concert was over I was walking back to my car and I hear him with my friends saying “there's the chink, there she is look its the chink”. BTS does nit have that happen in their country

5.) Self loathing I dont know about other asians but I know that its a known but un-talked about in my family. There was a phase in my life, my siblings lives, my cousins lives, etc, where we all hid the fact that we were filipino. In a way we all wanted to be as white as possible. The only reason that I can think of is because we wanted to be accepted by the Caucasian crowd, because society and the media kept saying that asians were lame, nerdy and uncool. There was even a time in my life where I literally rejected my filipino side. looking back at it now, that is so sad to me. I highly doubt that BTS felt the need to try to be white to gain approval from their white peers at school or in the workplace... because Korea is only 5% foreigner

6.) Violence In South Korea, you dont have people following Asian people around threatening to kill them because of covid. You dont have people ganging up on elderly asian people telling them that they caused the virus. You dont have people killing you because of a racial fetish. You dont have people stalking you around calling you “Gook, Chink Jap”. You dont have people treat you like a second class citizen because your asian. No you dont have that. BTS does nit have that in their country. They do not experience that. Korea has some issues but this is not of them,

This is experience unique to AAPI’s. This is not an attack on BTS. However, as an AAPI I feel the especially insulted by POTUS for choosing an Asian Born Asian to represent Asian Americans. To me that just shows me that POTUS just sees us not as true Americans.
