A portrait of my mom from class in high school. She is the perfect role model in my life. The portrait was made with ebony pencil, charcoal, oil pastel, and colored pencil. I made her shirt brown because the color symbolizes strength, dependability, security, and resilience, all things that can be applied to my mother. I used blue, purple, pink, and red for the flowers, which are anemone (her favorite flower), because they pop and all of these colors represent strength, love, passion, courage, wisdom, bravery, serenity, and peace. Lastly, I used yellow for the background because it’s a happy, bright, and vibrant color that ties the colors of the flowers together. I think this piece helped me achieve my goal of portraying my mom, a beautiful and strong black woman in a positive light.

Leaving to dinner, I stepped outside the dorm building and turned the corner to find a large protest against the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. A perfect example of what The impossibles do. On the way back, they were still protesting and I joined in for a few minutes.

A concept board for the future consumer. Based off loss of perception of time, conductors, and impossibles. Between the school to prison pipeline, the low rates of home ownership in the black community, the wage gap, the achievement gap, the high rates of police brutality, the pushback against roe v wade, etc., this country is systematically messed up. I’m adamant about sparking lasting change. I also love multitasking, and stimulating both my body and my brain at once. I love hearing other’s opinions.

Physical Collage inspired by nature and the 70's. Originating from one of our first assignments, I was inspired by the pictures of the plants in the newspaper to create a cottage-core collage. I added fabric in the background, and swatches on the top for texture and dimension. I also liked the vibe it gave of peace and serenity in the middle of this loud and busy city.
