(Truly Random Code, by A Lot Like Birds) This is a truly fresh track. A lot of people tend to steer clear of screaming vocals, just like I used to, but give it a shot and it might grow on you. There's really an art to all the madness.

(Here We Are [Chancer] , by Silversun Pickups) I can't quite pin down what makes Silversun Pickups sound good to me. It could be their contagiously catchy songs or the fact that I get hints of other artists when I listen to them. I'm glad I gave them a second, third, and fourth chance!

(Square Wheels, by Signals) Influenced by such bands as Bon Iver, Local Natives, Manchester Orchestra, and Thrice; Signals sends you a refreshingly different sound drifting to your speakers all the way from the Isle of Wight, a tiny island off the south of England. Female vocals unique to many others in the indie genre gently dance around melodious guitar chords and soft percussion, colored with pleasant harmonies to make for a beautiful combination. Signals is a rising yet promising group with a self-titled EP to be dropped April 27th (the same week as Jack White's Blunderbuss.) If you liked this, they have another great song with some amazing piano parts on their facebook or bandcamp. I couldn't help but be reminded of Ben Folds Five :) Also give them a follow if you want to be updated; every little fan counts.

(Shake Hands, by Birthmark) There's something about backward orchestral string loops that makes a song more likable. No one knows who Birthmark is, so go on, be a pioneer and share the song if you like it!

(Golden Eyelids, by Lost In The Trees) After scouring close to a 100 songs across several record label samplers, I boiled down the track list to around 7 lucky songs that passed my fussy musical taste test and win a spot in my library. Sometimes you're better off discovering songs in other ways..

(Para, by Calexico) I've been streaming this lately amid the groggy heat of summer, through drives down rainy pavements, and sitting alone with my headphones in cool cafes. The Spanish guitars and the horns spice it up nicely to give a sort of Latinesque Radiohead vibe.

(Shimmer, by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) This artist (it's exhausting to type, let alone read), dropped his fiery debut album last month, and if you like this song I urge you to sample the album, Trouble, and don't be fooled by the strange headpiece on the cover, unless of course you're into that sort of thing.

Hats off to amazon's free singles of the month or something along those lines. There was a pretty fine batch for the month of June, and this was one that I had to share. What to do you think of the throwback style of Nick Waterhouse?

(Thinking About You, by Frank Ocean) I've been in close pursuit of artists that are just on the verge of mainstream lately. But enough of me blabbing, you want some music right? Frank Ocean, R&B with edgy emo-ish vibes that you can get hooked on pretty quick.

(Ballad of Dwight Fry, by Alice Cooper) Although no one even noticed, I've been on a hiatus from music for a few weeks. I just haven't been listening to music at the level I was because there just ain't much extra time for the taking lately. No one likes a nasty stale blog. But hey how bout I crack the ice with a smashing rock song from Vincent Damon Furnier, better known as Alice Cooper. This song was actually in the movie Dark Shadows, as was Alice Cooper himself. Great song from 1971.
