Days past by, those who had come to pay their respects slowly made their way back to where they had come, leaving only two left on the grounds. As Mutera watched Drayk wander through the grounds, she contemplated what to do. With Dawn's passing, there was no one left to watch over him.
In her heart, Mutera knew what needed to be done. But could she embrace another so soon after heartbreak, knowing what path would lie before her should she do so?
With that, Mutera approached Drayk, and as the morning sun broke through the horizon once more, the pair entered the castle together.

The following morning, as Mutera was leaving, she saw Drayk standing over a flower. She approached him and patted him on the head.
"You take care of your grandmother for me okay?"
"I promise I will, just like gramps did."
Smiling at his answer, Mutera took her leave of the castle and returned to the woods.

As the days passed, Mutera and Dawn caught up with one another, discussing various topics all through the night. On the night before Mutera was to return to her home, Dawn came to her room.
"Please, before you go tomorrow, could you read me another tale?"
She took out a small leather book, the same one which Mutera had read to her as a child. Mutera took the book and read all through the night the same stories of faeries, knights, and monsters that had once so throughly entertained Dawn years before.

The two made their way out of the court yard and into a larger clearing. There stood a single headstone, Edric's name was on it. Grabbing a set of flowers, Dawn leaned over and gently laid them besides it.
"It hurt my heart to see him in the condition he was. But thank the gods, it was quick and it was painless."
"I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner Dawn. This isn't something that you should've gone through alone."
"Please, I'm happy you're here now. And besides, Drayk has been so energetic, that I've managed to keep myself busy."
Dawn smiled down at the grave, but a strange feeling had formed in Mutera's heart, a sense of dread for something far less distant than Mutera had thought.

One day, Mutera visited the castle where Dawn and Edric lived. In the midde of the courtyard sat Dawn, now restricted to a wheelchair.
"You've come, I hoped that you would.'
"Hello Dawn, how have you been?"
"I've been better, but I'm happy you're here. Please, come with me."

As Dawn left Mutera's home, the pair embraced one another. Mutera felt sad to see the infant she picked up so long ago take her leave, but smiled knowing that she would see her again. After all, she has all the time in the world.

"You rotten thing," Mutera said, blocking Dawn's ball. As Dawn readied another ball, she was confronted with a barrage of dirt from Mutera. As the morning continued, so did their barrage, until Mutera unleashed a barrage of water, both cleaning Dawn and soaking her in water.

One morning, as Dawn returned home from one of her outings, Mutera was shocked to find the girl covered from head to toe with dirt.
"My goodness child! What in heaven's name happened to you?"
Smiling, Dawn replied, "I found a turtle in the woods, and then I fell into a mudpit when I put it back by the river."
"Oh Dawn, what am I going to do with you?"
"I don't know how about this?" With that, she tossed a clump of dirt she had been hiding towards Mutera.
