STAR WARS: Eleventh Fleet AU

Hey-hey, I worked, caught a cold, got sick and that’s enough… …so, concept art for the Eleventh Fleet.

Ar'alani and Vah'nya's designs are fairly simple, but the problem with them in particular, and the Chiss in general, is their clothing and style. There are many official references, including those from Legends, but each artist still has his own vision regarding, for example, the shape of the fleet. Somewhere there is a strong homage to the design from the old canon, somewhere it was modernized, and in the latter they added the same “honor's chains”, which look a little strange on the laconic form. It seems to be in the Chiss style, but very impractical.

As a result, I am reworking the design of the expansion and defense fleet uniform, but more on that another time. Let's return to Ar'alani and Vah'nya.

At the beginning of the events of the "Eleventh Fleet", Senior General Ar'alani on his flagship "Vigilant" is increasingly confronted with the Grysks. A year will pass since her last meeting with Thrawn, when the invaders of the Ascendency space will openly attack the Chiss ships.

Such cat and mouse would continue for another year until the disappearance of another Night Dragon class war cruiser, subsequently leading to disaster in the heart of the Chiss Ascendancy. The Senior General will be one of the few superiors who, along with Ba'kif, can survive. Much of this will be down to Vanto and Ronan - unaccounted for variables in the Grysk's plans. The trust placed in Thrawn's "alien protégés" paid off in full.

The Senior General was often accompanied by Senior Navigator Vah'nya. "Vigilant" almost always accepted missions to search for missing navigators. Vah'nya not only guided the ship through the stars and darkness of outer space, but she was much better at rehabilitating rescued navigators, as well as leading the other navigators on the ship. Friendship with Eli played an important role in this.

Because of her "anomaly" as a Navigator who hasn't lost her powers into adulthood, many of the regulations and rules simply don't work for Vah'nya the way they do for other girls. And to be an “anomaly” for Sindikure is a very subtle walking on the edge of a charrik. And yet, to the dissatisfaction of some aristocrats and syndics, the girl manages to balance on it for quite a long time.

Because I’m not entirely sure that I’m right, but I really wanted to think about what this gorgeous grandpa would have looked like during the Thrawn. Ascendency Trilogy. And I also reworked his “chains” and other form elements quite a bit. And yes, I’m more than sure that Thrawn adopted Ba'kif’s “style” in his time.

Hi, chelsilef! I am very glad that after so many years my Silmarillion sketches continue to delight and inspire someone. I’m not sure that I’ll ever return to Tolkien’s works (I’m currently in my sci-fi period, hehehe – Star Wars and others), but it was very nice to remember one of the old fandoms.

Sunday's two-hour Thrawn's sketches.

After the release of the second part of the comic book about the continuation of the Grand Admiral's story, the desire to do something more or less normal with the combat equipment of the then Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo did not disappear anywhere.

Only changed a couple of details, but I already like how the design echoes the regular CEDF officer's uniform.

Concept art for the Eleventh Fleet.

Finally got to Eli Vanto…

…however, among the Chaos of the Unknown Regions, he is better known as Eli'van'to or Ivant.

As the first human to join the Chiss Ascendancy, the future Commodore of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet was faced with a galactic sense of déjà vu as he recalled his youth under the leadership of an equally strange, red-eyed alien in the Imperial Navy. But, if earlier Eli was an assistant in the shadow of his… friend, now the main role fell to him.

Unlike Ronan, Eli's path was not as simple as it could have been. Both Karyn’s in the Empire and Eli’s in the Ascendancy - the status of “protégés” and assistants to the Grand Admiral simultaneously gave them advantages, but also entailed no less huge problems. Perhaps Vanto had it a little harder.

From a man from Lysatra who wanted to be an ordinary, inconspicuous supply officer, he became first a commander in the Imperial Navy, and then rose again to commodore in the Chiss.

Once upon a time, the Moff’s assistant, whose name Vanto deliberately forgot, said that he would either vegetate forever in Thrawn’s shadow, or the alien would drag Eli down with him. In a sense, she was indeed right.

However, it was not Mitth'raw'nuruodo, but Eli who built his destiny. He had many chances to leave, but… well… chiss, as always, was only a catalyst on the path of human stubbornly moving forward.

And Commodore Van'to's name was indeed a name to be reckoned with in the Unknown Regions.

And a few more “thoughts out loud” about Eli…

During his ten years outside the Galaxy, Vanto never joined any Family - neither the Rulings nor the Great. This distinguished the man even from the top of the Fleet, who "renounced" their "families" to serve the entire Ascendency.

At the same time, some families still left their mark on his Chains of Honor. And many after.

The chains will become a reflection of events, the secret of one of which Eli will keep “to the grave and even below it.”

However, despite his “neutrality”, in a sense, he now has a native “person” - girl-navigator Un'hee. Syndicure doesn't give up trying to place her in any family, but chiss always refuses and prefers to remain without a “family”.

And as if in retaliation to the “oldfart from Csilla,” teenager always introduces himself in Lesser Space as Unhee Vanto.

At that time, the poor Commodore swears to High General Ar'alani that he did not swear in Basic in front of the girl. Unfortunately, he often attended such meetings with admirals Tro'omis and Ma'kro, and only give them a reason to “criff” a colleague. To which one of them then received a response from Thalias and Sacheri.

…and the price for everything is the gray hair of the Supreme General.

STAR WARS: Eleventh Fleet AU

Suddenly starting the new year with a logo for the Eleventh Fleet.

Maybe it will be changed a little over time, but for now I like it. A little exciting, because… I’ve never made a logo like this before. Not for my stories.

I was very much inspired by the style of "Fallen Order" and the "Prequel Trilogy". An elegant variation of the Trajan Bold font sets off the massive main logo of the franchise well.

… And I also thought that if this story had a musical theme, then it would be something between the theme of “Eno Cordova” from “Jedi: Fallen Order” and “To The Stars” from “Dragon Heart”. Basically an AU about the imperial fleet and the chiss fleet, but I would like to add more of an “adventure” note…

…Like the flight of many stars in the dark sea of outer space in and beyond the Galaxy Far, Far Away. After all, Star Wars is a space opera.

STAR WARS: Eleventh Fleet AU

A short comic about how, among the stories of Chiss navigators, a new “hero” appeared + a lot of braids.

Commodore Faro, as the Grand Admiral's right-hand man, was able to visit rescued ozyly-esehembo (Force-sensitive Chiss navigators) while they were aboard the Chimaera.

Unlike Vader, who instills genuine horror in the girls, and Thrawn, who was almost at the level of a living legend for the children, Karyn seemed to them… simply interesting. Unusual. And very similar to one strange alien who arrived in Ascendency a year ago.

Commodore is actually very good with children, but doesn't admit this fact.

P.S. Faro and one of the navigators communicate in sy bisti. The girl was taught this by a pilot who served for some time on her ship, and Karyn was taught by Eli. The rest only know cheun. But this doesn't stop them from giving the woman a “new” name.

In addition to the previous post… …little about the eternally bombing imperial-chissian marshmallow with a great love for cape.

If in the case of Vanto and Faro I wanted to convey their “similarity” to each other, then Ronan immediately introduced himself as a typical blond with blue eyes. A sharp contrast, so to speak :3

In the design of his images, I wanted to make a transition and separation from the “look” of his boss, whom he almost idolized and copied - from the cape to the hairstyle and manners, into a completely independent personality. Forged by ice… Literally.

However, even Ba'kif did not knock out his endless, like the galaxy itself, love for capes. And then all chiss from the Universal Analysis Group began to sport cloaks when Ronan took the helm.

In general, Brierly is quite an interesting character. Timothy Zan in Treason created an extremely colorful assistant to Krennic.

But more unexpected was Thrawn's decision to send the colonel along with Ar'alani and Eli to the Ascendency. Of course, perhaps the Grand Admiral hoped to create a kind of “triumvirate”: Vanto - make part of the Chiss Domination and gain an ally in his homeland who would serve the entire state and fleet, just like he once did; Faro - promote to the top positions in the Empire and acquire a reliable ally in the person of his protégé, loyal to him; Plus, both Eli and Karyn were his close people, whom he trusted with a lot. …but Ronan… is like a ticking time bomb. It will “explode”, but where is unclear…

Maybe Thrawn wanted to get a “bridge” between the two states (it’s definitely unlikely - Palpi definitely didn’t even consider the option of “allies”), or he saw in the former employee of the Department of Advanced Weapons Research something hidden even from Ronan himself.

Eli and Karyn saw this very “hidden” thing many years later, but Ronan will never admit “this” even to himself… Unless he casts a proud glance at the Chiss version of the TIE/D “Defender”. Or during the creation of an “almost analogue” of bacta. Or when making “hot chocolate”, which temporarily relieves eternal stress. Or, or, or…

…Or proudly accepting a new name - Stybla'ro'nan.
