BIOGRAPHY: Ororo Munroe was born from a princess in Kenya and an American Journalist who moved to Manhattan shortly before Ororo was born. When she was six months old, she and her parents moved to Cairo, Egypt and at the age of five years old, a plane crash destroyed their home. Ororo’s parents were killed but she survived, buried under rubble near her mother’s body. This traumatizing left Ororo with severe claustrophobia. She managed to escape the rubble of her shattered home with nothing but the tattered clothes on her back and her mother’s ancestral ruby. Homeless and Orphaned, Ororo was found by a gang of street urchins. The master of the street urchins trained her in the arts of thievery and she soon became the prize pupil.

She lived as a thief for seven years until one day while itching to prove her skills as a thief, Ororo stole a rare ruby-colored gem, against the direct orders of the master. A year later, after stealing the “Heart of Eternal Darkness” gem, Ororo felt a strong urge to wander south and packed up and left Cairo. During her travels, Ororo naively accepted a ride from a complete stranger and was almost sexually assaulted by the stranger. Forced to defend herself, she killed the man and, from that moment, swore to never take another human life. Ororo wandered for thousands of miles, almost dying during her trek across the Sahara Desert. During her mutant ability to psionically control the the weather emerged and she was able to use them to rescue a prince of an African nation from his would-be kidnappers. The pair spent much time together, however, his duties as a prince prevented them from further exploring their mutual attraction.

Finally, Ororo reached her ancestors’ homeland of Kilimanjaro Valley on the Serengeti Plain in Kenya where she was taken in by an elderly woman named Ainet who taught her to be responsible with her powers. She soon came to be the object of worship of the local tribes, who believed her to be a goddess due to her gift. One day, some agents came to the tribe and explained to her that they were part of a school in America where she can further learn to control her powers and be with other people that were like her. She agreed, wanting to see the world.

BIOGRAPHY:

Sandra Wu-San was the goddaughter of a martial arts expert named O-Sensei. When Sandra Wu-San’s sister was killed, a mysterious man approached her and convinced her that a man named Richard Dragon had killed her. Sandra became determined to avenge her sister’s death but knew that she had to train if she were to have any hope of defeating Richard Dragon. While training, Sandra discovered that she had a natural talent for the skills and movements required for martial arts. She trained for years, eventually reaching a point in her martial arts training where she felt that she was ready to find Richard Dragon and avenge her sister. She decided to take up the code-name Lady Shiva and eventually tracked Dragon down, luring him into a trap. However, Dragon revealed to Shiva that he did not kill her sister and the man that told her he had was someone that worked for him and wanted Dragon dead. He then explained who the real killer was and that he had already killed him in battle.

Shiva came to the devastating conclusion that she had no more purpose in life and that all her training had become a waste. She decided to aid Dragon with some of his missions because all she knew was how to fight. Dragon let her come along in hopes that she would decide to use her skills for good. After many years, Dragon decided to retire and he told Shiva about a place he heard of where she could use train further and her mastery in martial arts for good.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jinx led a relatively normal life in India, although she always knew there was something different about her. She had unusually pale skin and bright pink hair, she looked nothing like the other children around her. She was troubled, she lived on the edge, dangerously, getting away with petty crimes just because she could.

When Jinx was thirteen she learned she has probability manipulation powers which she generates in waves or balls of energy known as hexes. Her probability manipulation powers allow her to dodge projectiles, bestow bad luck on her enemies, break objects and fire powerful waves of energy.

There were only four other acolytes in the East Indian temple where Jinx trained, and after she had learned the secrets of sorcery, she was the only one left, having used her dark powers to kill the others and her teacher. Jinx was eventually captured and sent to the US, where prisons were capable of holding a meta-human such as herself.

When Novus heard about the girl they knew that they had to have her. So they flew to where the US was holding Jinx. They gave the girl the option to come to the school and learn how to use her powers for good or rot in the cell. Reluctantly, she picked school.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Carl Lucas spent his youth in a gang called The Rivals. With his best friend Willis Stryker, he fought the rival gang the Diablos and committed various petty thefts, often on behalf of deformed crimelord Sonny Caputo, a.k.a. Hammer. In and out of juvenile homes throughout his childhood, Lucas dreamed of becoming a major New York racketeer until he finally realized how his actions were hurting his family. He then sought to better himself as he got older, and find legitimate employment. Meanwhile, Stryker rose through the ranks of crime, but the two men remained friends. When Stryker’s activities angered an organized crime group referred to simply as The Syndicate, he was badly beaten in a mob hit, saved only by Lucas’s intervention. When Stryker’s girlfriend, broke up with him in distress of his violent work, she sought solace from Lucas. Convinced that Lucas was responsible for the breakup, Stryker planted in Lucas’ apartment and tipped off the police. Lucas was then arrested and sent to prison; contact with his family was sparse due to the resentment of his brother who intercepted Lucas’s letters to their father James, still bitter at his brother’s previous dealings. In prison, Lucas was consumed by rage over Stryker’s betrayal and his brother’s spite, engaging in frequent brawls and escape attempts. After one such attempt, research scientist Dr. Noah Burstein recruited Lucas as a volunteer for experimental cell regeneration based on a variant of the Super-Soldier process he had been perfecting. During his treatment, Burstein miscalculated. Lucas’s treatment was accelerated past its intent, inducing body-wide enhancement that gave him superhuman strength and durability. Shortly after, Lucas used his newfound abilities to escape prison and not long after, he witnessed an armed bank robbery. Shortly after, Lucas quickly intervened, incapacitating the criminals. Several agents, who had been tailing him since leaving the prison, found themselves impressed with his heroics, and as opposed to arresting him, offered him a second chance at Novus Academy. Agreeing to their terms, Lucas left with him, under the stipulation he can take on a new alias, going by Luke Cage.

BIOGRAPHY:

Victor was the child of Gypsy travelers in Latveria, a small European country. Victor’s mother, Cynthia, was killed. She left Victor with his father, asking him to protect him. Victor’s father, Werner, was a doctor who was called upon by King Vladimir of Latveria to treat his wife. Unable to do so, Werner fled with Victor and died soon afterward trying to protect his son. Victor was left with his father’s best friend Boris. Victor later discovered his mother’s mystical books and artifacts. With them he was able to teach himself sorcery.

Victor excelled in science, developed several inventions, and was eventually given a scholarship to Empire State University. One day, Victor designed an invention to rescue his mother which would become his greatest downfall. People attempted to warn Victor of an error in his calculations. However, Von Doom’s arrogance refused to let him listen. The machine then exploded, scarring his face, and led to his expulsion from the university. Novus then found Victor, telling him of their school and how he could thrive there. He could learn anything he wanted, even how to control the sorcery he had learned.

BIOGRAPHY:

Not much is known about Wanda’s past and what is known has been classified. She was born into the opposite of the ‘ideal family’ in the outskirts of a small town in Ohio, where she spent most of her time being the problem child. Making friends with only the voices inside her head, children stayed away from the girl and the ones who did approach the girl, soon found out why she was always alone. At age 17, her family moved to Washington D.C. where she got mixed in with the wrong crowd and soon dropped out of school and ran away from home to travel the country and make a living with her natural talent of firearms and swords.

Turning 18, she joined the military and though she was one of the more physically superior recruits, there was only one fault; her mouth was almost never closed, which constantly caused her to get into trouble and eventually blindly volunteer for the Weapon-X program. Surprisingly, Wanda was one of the few, more successful volunteers managing to escape with only a broken mind and a newfound regeneration power. After a month of living on the streets, she was approached by representatives of Novus. Wanda was willing to fight the agents but she was quickly outnumbered and disarmed and taken to Novus where she stayed until she willingly agreed to behave and join Novus’ ranks.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jason Todd was the child of Willis Todd and Sheila Haywood, being raised in Gotham City his whole life. His mother was forced to relinquish custody on Jason when Willis married Catherine Todd. His mother was a drug addict that died of an overdose, and his father spent most of Jason’s life working for a mafia man. Leaving Jason mostly in the care of his stepmother, who raised him the best she could until his father and stepmother died at the hands of the very employer that his father worked for. Now homeless, Jason made most of his living off of petty theft and ripping off car parts for cash.

One night, Jason came across a fancy vehicle parked in an alley, this was an opportunity that no one in his position could pass up. However, he only managed to steal two of the tires when the owner of the car, a well-known wealthy businessman. Instead of the man being angry, he offered to help him. He told Jason that he had previously been in touch with a school that recruited his son Dick. The man adopted and cared for Jason and gave him a stable living environment until he got in touch with the school, and sent Jason on his way to Novus Academy.

BIOGRAPHY:

When Kara’s father, Zor-El, realized that Krypton was about to explode, he placed his infant daughter on a spaceship and shot it towards Earth. This occurred at the same time that the infant Kal-El (Kara’s cousin Clark Kent) had also been launched on a ship towards Earth. However, Kara’s ship traveled far more slowly than Kal-El’s ship which resulted in Kara arriving on Earth later than her cousin. Kara’s ship was called the Symbioship and it was designed to keep her in a stasis mode during her flight to Earth. To ensure that Kara’s mental development kept pace with her physical growth, the ship provided her with a virtual reality that gave her life experiences and education as if she had grown up on Krypton rather than in stasis. During her long journey through space, she was able to interact with virtual copies of her parents and friends in her home city of Kandor. When Kara’s ship finally arrived on Earth, she appeared to be in her mid teens. When her ship landed, ARGUS was contacted immediately after the police knew what happened. When ARGUS arrived at Kara’s landing spot they spoke to her about a school and offered her a home there.

BIOGRAPHY:

Coming from a long line of heroes, her mother a vigilante hero and her father a police officer, Dinah Lance knew what she wanted to become at a young age, a hero, and at the age of 17, she would put that plan into play. After the death of her father, Dinah’s mother strived to keep her daughter safe from danger, this caused friction between the two of them. Against her mother’s wishes, Dinah was determined to find someone to train her. She looked restlessly until one day, her mother broke down and opened her old contact book. Pulling the number to the head of a trustworthy government agency, A.R.G.U.S., she found out about a new school that would train her to use her ability, the ‘canary cry’, and to better her fighting ability. Ecstatic about this opportunity, she accepted, packed her things and left for Florida.

BIOGRAPHY:

Komand’r is the oldest child born to the king and queen of Tamaran, and the first daughter born into the royal family in over 100 years. On the day of her birth, the Citadel Empire attacked the planet and killed over 3000 citizens. Though this is in no way her fault, she is forever linked to that horrible day and because of this she was treated as a bad omen and often avoided. On top of this, Komand’r was crippled as a child with an incurable illness that took her ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation that allowed most Tamarans to fly and defend themselves. For all of these reasons, the people of Tamaran despise her and even though she is the oldest daughter, her younger sister became the princess over her to keep the prestigious family name going. Because of all of this, she grew to hate her planet, people, family and most of all the princess, her baby sister.

Striking a violent sibling rivalry that continued for years, that ended in her casting her sister, Starfire, away from her planet and to an unknown location she was imprisoned. After years she finally escaped and went to find her sister once again. Arriving where she thought Koriand’r landed, Komand’r used her abilities to destroy everything in her path. Hitting close to home, A.R.G.U.S. intervened. Defusing the fuming princess, they found her intentions, to find her sister. Interested in finding another alien like her, they promised to help as long as she agreed to a ceasefire and join their academy under close watch.

BIOGRAPHY:

Abandoned by his mother, Matt Murdock was raised by his father, boxer “Battling Jack” Murdock, in Hell’s Kitchen. From a young age, Matt was pushed to work hard in school so he wouldn’t have to fight like his father. His father worked hard to provide for him so he would have a better life. While walking down a busy street one day, Matt noticed a blind man wandering into the streets, about to be hit by a truck. He ran in front of the truck and pushed the blind man out of the way. However, the truck was carrying radioactive waste and when the truck swerved out of the way, some splashed out directly into Matt’s eyes causing him to go blind. With his vision gone, Matt’s remaining senses, hearing, touch, taste, and smell became heightened, and he was able to “see” using a “radar” sense, that showed outlines and shapes. The radiation also impacted his mind, allowing him to retain information easily.

A few months after Matt got out of the hospital, Matt’s father, Jack was desperate to fight and reluctantly joined with a crooked fight promoter known by the name of “Fixer.” The fixer set up Jack to be a heavyweight contender, just to have him take a dive. Jack refused and won his fight, later to be gunned down in an alley and killed. Matt, now orphaned at the age of 14, lived in an orphanage until the age of 16, where he was visited and picked up by a blind man by the name of “Stick”. The man taught Matt how to control his new abilities and honed his skills in acrobatics and martial arts. Stick trained Matt until he no longer had anything to teach him. Before Stick disappeared off of the map, he sent Matt to a place, a school, that would not only teach him to further control his abilities but help him become a superhero.

BIOGRAPHY:

Amara Aquilla comes from the homeland of Nova Roma, a colony of the Roman Republic that is hidden in modern Brazil and was ruled until recently by an immortal sorceress. Amara is the daughter of Lucius Aquilla. A faction of the city’s Inca population attempted to transform the republic into an imperial state and a dark cult following the Dark Priestess was regularly sacrificing young girls in a pit of fire in some caves beneath Nova Roma. Senator Aquilla was the leader of the opposition to this faction. Fearing for his daughter’s safety, Senator Aquilla sent his daughter Amara to live in the jungles outside Nova Roma, disguised as an Indian. Later, the senator discovered that the Black Priestess was actually the immortal mutant Selene, wife of Senator Marcus Domitius Gallio, the leader of the Imperial faction.

Amara remained in hiding for years until she was captured by soldiers of Nova Roma who knew of the girl’s disguise and she was imprisoned. Now held prisoner by Selene, Amara was to be sacrificed. Selene used her mutant powers to drain Amara’s life energy into her own body. Her father not wanting to watch her daughter get sacrificed, attacked Selene. The distraction caused the sorceress to release Amara from her control, but Selene knocked Amara into the the pit of lava. Somehow, rather than harming the young girl, her immersion in the lava awakened her latent mutant powers. Amara, with her newfound powers, defeated Selene and thwarted Senator Gallio’s attempt to kill her father and seize power. Amara was instructed to go to the United States and there learn about modern civilization. Unable to control her powers, Amara attracted the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D, who told her that they could help her control her abilities.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jackson Hyde (Kaldur’ahm/Kaldur) has always had a pretty average life growing up, nothing of it was ever too special or out of the ordinary. He had two loving parents he’d always remembered being in his life, who had two everyday jobs to pay for their average sized house in New Mexico. If you were to ask anyone the only thing out of the ordinary was the boy’s severe fear of water, keeping a ten-foot distance between him and any body of water. When it rained his father would give him permission to take the day off school and do his work from the house, and when it came to the beach, he wouldn’t even think about going. He couldn’t quite remember where his fear came from, he couldn’t remember his father telling him from a young age not to go near water. Maybe if he did the boy would have questioned it more than he did.

It wasn’t until he was nineteen, one afternoon he was doing nothing more than walking home from school when the weather changed in a split second. Storm clouds began to roll over, gusts of wind picked up and what started slow and then hit all at once. It started to rain. He was in his front yard by this point, so close to the safety of living his life in ignorance. But it was too late, the moment it started to rain on him his eyes started to glow, streams of tattoos along his body began to light up. His hands grew webbed, and suddenly it all felt right. The rain at his fingertips he could control, he could move it and for a second he seemed hypnotized by it. By the thing he’d feared his whole life, and suddenly it felt like home.

But the moment was interrupted as his father rushed outside of the house, finding his son on the lawn in such awe of the one thing he’d tried to keep hidden from him his whole life. And in a split decision, he loaded him into the car and drove. The whole ride was silent, Jackson didn’t dare speak a word. Instead, he just stared out the window, watching the scenery pass until they finally pulled into the driveway of a seaside cottage. He remembered wondering how long his father had this place for, and why exactly he had it.

Still silent the two of them piled out of the car, his father leading him inside before finally speaking. He started telling Jackson everything, from birth until now. He told the boy that they weren’t his real parents, that his real mother was killed when he was just a boy due to experiments he survived. That his father had been missing from that moment onwards, that he was brought to the surface world before he was old enough to speak from an underwater colony in Atlantis. There was more he was going to say, Jackson could see it, but before he could manage a man stormed into the cottage, almost killing his father before turning his sights onto Jackson.

That was when agents swarmed the cottage, he didn’t know how they’d found him so fast. But the men in suits offered him a safe place in a university for students just like him while he learned to control his abilities.
