Anytime I do an abstract, I’ve noticed that different people get totally different reads/interpretations on them. I’m always interested in hearing what people see or read into them, so comment yours below! Background info~ “Of Dust & Dusk,” smol mixed media abstract on 5.5” x 8.5” paper. Pretty much just used pen, Prismacolor markers, and pastel pencils. I had the hardest damn time naming this thing, since it can be viewed both this way up and upside-down. There’s definitely a dualism vibe here I think. I was thinking about deserts when I drew it, reflecting on a trip through New Mexico and Arizona I got to go on earlier this year thanks to @finvarras_realm. Don’t you just hate it when you’re doing a ritual in the forest and the air disappears, the trees disappear, and then you’re in some dimension with this guy staring at you? No? Just me? As promised, here’s the final product from that tape peeling video I posted yesterday! “Aquamarine / Three-Eyed Owl,” mixed media on 21” x 18” watercolor paper. More specifically, I used marker (alcohol based and water based), calligraphy ink, India ink, watercolor and watercolor pencils, gel pen, pastel pencil, and color pencil. This piece is a sibling piece to the summer/sun bee I did a while back. The moon is a symmetrical element to the sun in the other piece; as is the owl to the bee, and the moonflower to the sunflower. I feel like this piece wants to be the moon card in a tarot deck. Perhaps one day I’ll have time to make a whole deck. This piece has an immense amount of pagan context behind it, which won’t fit with IG’s character limit.
