“I’m Going To Kill You.”
“Yeah, was betting on that.”
“How so?”
“You couldn’t kill me if I handed you a knife and stood there.”
“Will it take long?”
“Sure, when and where?”
“Could it wait until tomorrow?”
“Funny, someone said that to me this morning.”
“Not the first time I’ve heard that.”
“Unless I kill you first.”

Revenge Dialogue Prompts
“I’ll kill every one of them for what they did.”
“My revenge isn’t over until they’ve paid the price.”
“I don’t care if it never ends.”
“It wasn’t even their fault. It was mine.”
“This might not end the war but it’ll end my greif.”
“Kill me then. Kill me like you did them.”

Honestly What Derealization Feels Like:
✨Some mental health stuff to add to your relatable characters✨
The past doesn’t exist??
I notice everything about you and it’s predictable so am I just making it up
Woah holy shit I’m human why am I me and not someone else?
Send me a picture so I know you’re real
I don’t know if I’m hallucinating sorry I touched you I thought you were a ghost
Did this actually happen
Memory is shit
I’m watching things from inside my skull??
Filters over everything way too often
Waiting to wake up in a different body

More Character Things
Decide their handwriting - Maybe write in their handwriting. Is it small and messy because they don't care? Do they write quickly because they're always in a hurry? Do they write neatly because they take pride in themselves? Handwriting can determine a lot.
Make them a playlist - Further adding onto this, their music taste can determine a lot. Maybe their music interest aren't the basic "because I like it, it's relatable, etc." Maybe someone used to play it in their car. Maybe their friend recommended the music. Maybe it's the music taste of someone close to them who passed.
Give them random quirks - Enough of those lengthy and excessive character sheets. Just make bullet points. Random little things about the character, some I have are things like "always has candy & soda" "anger issues tbh" "likes being out of the house". Nothing has to define a character, but it sure can help.

Witchy?
“Wine?” “This? Poison.”
“Careful, it bites.” “It’s a book.” “It bites.”
“Well . . . based on your tarot reading, basically you’re fucked.”
“Just lookit the moon and see what it’s aura vibe is telling you.”
“I don’t like the smell of sage.” “Then you’re probably a demon.”
“What’s with all the smoke and rat bones!?!” “It’s an experiment.”
“I thought witches always wear those pointy hats.” “And I thought homeless assholes always wear paper sacks.”

Blurby Blurb (1)
All my friends know I’m depressed. So they write messages for me around my room. On the mirror. On the whiteboard. On sticky notes covering my walls. You matter. You matter. You fucking matter.

Hurt I Think
“I thought you were leaving me all over again.”
“Loving you was the cruelest thing I ever did to myself.”
“I couldn’t handle it if you left.”
“Please . . . you can’t keep doing this to me. Don’t do this to me again.”
“I spent too long hoping you’d give me the same love I’ve been giving you.”
“Am I only worth loving when no one’s around?”
“The most difficult thing I’ve ever done was pretend that I didn’t care about what you did to me.”
“It’s alright . . . I’d hate me too.”

Would You Listen To Me?
“I don’t listen to anyone. Except my mom. But that’s it.”
“I’d listen to you if you stopped talking.”
“Why? So you can bring me down? Shame me? Try to ruin my life with your pathetic choice of words?”
“I’ve been listening.”
“No, I’m done with that. You listen to me now.”
“I always listen to you and all you do is spew nonsense.”
“There’s nothing you can say to fix it.”
“Would you listen to me?”
“No. How about that?”

Honestly Just Quotes From One of My OCs
“You’re awfully loud, you know that?”
“Because you ask too many questions.”
“You’re dripping all over my carpet.”
“If I kill you, then I would die. And believe it or not, I like living.”
Character B: “You’re not going to hurt me, are you?” OC: “Don’t give me a reason to.”
“Shouldn’t you be out of questions by now?”
“What else could you possibly want to know about that?”
“Why do you say was? He’s not dead, you know.”
“Don’t do anything stupid.”

“Help Me Hide The Body” Dialogue Prompts:
“Depends. Who’s is it?”
“As long as I don’t have to actually look at it.”
“My skills in that department are specifically reserved for you.”
“Doesn’t that make me an accomplice?”
“Dude you know I’m broke and gonna ask you to pay me to help.”
“Why on earth do you have a dead body?!?”
“First time?”
“Got a special place in mind?”
“Surely you did not just ask me that.”
“Actually that sounds more like a you problem.”

Tips For Making Unique Character Voices:
(For both narrating & dialogue)
Decide how formally they speak - this is also based on who they were raised around and what their timeline is, their race and culture, etc.
Know their overall volume of speech - maybe they speak loudly because in their past that’s the only way their voice was heard
There’s a hundred ways to say a sentence - sometimes this changes up in a person, but everyone has the way they word their sentences. Example: “what are you doing?” Can be “whatcha doing” “how goes it” “whaddya doing” “what are you up to” “what is chu doing” etc.
Self representation matters - if a person isn’t confident then they aren’t going to sound confident. But it’s not just about voicing confidence or not, there are details to every trait. If you’re character’s not confident then then they might question their choices a lot. They probably won’t judge other people except in high regards. Every personality trait has finer details
History also matters - maybe trauma makes it so your character gives extremely detailed answers to avoid confusion (anxiety). Maybe some kind of accident makes them speak less
There’s a difference in how much people speak - somewhat a follow up to the last point. But it’s not just personality that determines this but also illnesses. For instance my adhd makes me talk a lot nonstop, so much so that I might trip over words, or if I’m “narrating” then I go very out of order. People who don’t care much (depression) might only give vague or indecisive answers. Some people have long answers, some give one word answers.
People know different things - such as when your character is comparing something to their past. Even something simple, not all of your characters might know something like “this specific type of tree” but one character might because maybe it was a tree in their backyard. Characters knowledge determines their understand and ability to explain.

Advice For Making Realistic Characters:
Make them have multiple interests - Your character doesn’t have to fit one aesthetic alone. For example, I like collecting feathers and vintage keys, but also notebooks and squishmallows, none of which are all the same aesthetic
Allow for improper dialogue - We know not to use “and” at the beginning of a sentence, but humans do that anyway. We stutter and catch our breath and forget how to word things properly. We don’t have to be diagnosed with a stutter or speak multiple languages to screw it up now and then
They should all have their own voice - This is mainly for writing in multiple perspectives. Personally it’s hard to give each character their own voice rather than my own. Regardless of the language or era of your story, each character should sound unique, whether they have certain catchphrases or use more slang or talk more formally
Give them all a self-presentation - We all act differently depending on who we’re around, and characters should be this way as well
Give them mindless habits - Possibly for a filler scene or something in the background, but give your character more than just nail biting habits. Allow for a small or simple change (like moving furniture around) where your character still has a habit of doing the old thing (going where the furniture used to be, not being able to find anything after it was moved)
Let them be bored - People are always and I mean always finding ways to entertain themselves. If you’re writing a character that sits still and thinks and doesn’t always have to be doing something, just make sure that it fits their personality. I don’t know a lot of people who can go for long without some form of entertainment.

Ways To Say “I Love You” That I Don’t See As Much:
Using share screen to watch movies together
Sneaking their friends/family’s charger to keep talking
Telling them “you haven’t told me about that yet” even though they have and listening to them get excited about it again
Writing notes before leaving
Gifts that aren’t quite homemade or store bought, but something around the house they just know their person would love
Biting. It is a love language and I do not see it enough
