I like that a big part of the Sambucky relationship is often just Sam giving Bucky full permission to be a little fucked up. Not in the sense that he recognizes his mental problems, but also because he sometimes just shrugs and allows Bucky's worst instincts to take over. (Which is mostly a fandom thing, but a small part of canon too, since Sam went with Bucky's plan to free Zemo with very little push-back, for example..)

It gave me the idea for a story where after Hydra everyone around Bucky wants him to move on from his traumas and heal, but Sam gives him the space to also be furious and unhinged about that. Like... all the other people would say: "what they did to you was awful, but the best revenge is to live a happy life <3". And Sam's like... "no, the best revenge is to wake them up with a gun to the temple in the middle of the night and to burn down their home, actually. here's a lighter, are you free this weekend, handsome?".

I don't mean to say that other people don't understand Bucky's anger, but they believe it'd be healthier for him to deal with the pain only by finding hobbies, adopting a pet, eating nice food etc. Whereas Sam offers all those things with an extra dose of pure vengeance. One night he takes Bucky out to a nice restaurant. The next night he stands aside as Bucky beats the shit out of some doctor, who experimented on him in 1989 and then helps him cover it up.

This dynamic would probably work better in a AU with no powers where they're regular people and where Bucky's been kidnapped or integrated into a cult that ruined his life. But it could apply to the canon too, in some ways.

I just like the the idea of all the well-meaning people in Bucky life trying to put as big of a distance between him and his abusers as possible... While Sam - who everyone sees as a rational almost-pacifist with a lot of empathy - helps his boyfriend hunt these abusers for sport.

Our culture, especially Hollywood, glamorizes and worships young, heterosexual lovers with perfect bodies and remarkable feats of skill.

So to have a middle-aged man, with an average body and no fighting ability or powers to speak of, in love with a God, and for that God, who was once known for his excessive vanity, love that man in return, feels that much more special.

Mobius is so attuned to Loki, he immediately knows how he’s going to react, offering him a gentle warning or permission to proceed. One reason that I’m shipping Lokius SO HARD is this ship delivers the most heart warming message that no matter how unloveable you think you are, there’s still a chance you can find someone to love you. When you meet the right person, when you treat them with genuinity, it can lead to great things and it changes everything.

This is a time our generation widely consider love as a fairy tale for the immatures. But Lokius actually shows what a mature and healthy love is like and how wonderful it can be. The way they look into each other’s eyes makes me shed tears because it’s so beautiful. It’s something I thought was impossible. Their story made me have faith in love itself again and again.

I still can’t get over it that, in s1e1 Mobius said to Loki I can’t offer you redemption, but maybe I can offer you something better. And he did. He wasn’t there to just save Loki. He was there to love them. And that love, that love from a just-some-dude heals a god’s traumatized heart, made them see the potential in themselves, and eventually saves the whole univers. All these things are possible because the mortal loves and sees the god.

I’m astonished, even shocked, every time think of the whole story. I really need this. This is something I will hold on to in the darkest days of my life. And this is why I love them so much with every single cell in my body. I love them so much.

You know what I would find really hilarious?

CONSIDER:

The Avengers meet God of Stories Loki and Mobius. Mobius is very charming, very folksy. He pours everyone coffee. Makes sure the thermostat in the conference room is at a comfortable temperature. Offers croissants. All the markers of a good host.

The Avengers all like him right away but are wary of Loki. After a comedic abridged version of a TVA infodump, in which Loki and Mobius ping-pong little details and show their whole squabble and tease dynamic, one of Kang's underlings is captured.

MOBIUS: Okay. Think I got a read on this guy. You wanna take a swing at him for intel or should I?

LOKI: I think you should. Y'know, trying out the whole 'good guy' bit.

MOBIUS: Sounds good. Gentlemen's competition. Time me?

LOKI: Of course.

And the Avengers watch as this cozy little human goes in and just EVISCERATES the underling. No weapons. No superpowers. Just WORDS.

The underling is on the floor, in a fetal position, sobbing and begging no more. He spills all the critical information they need. Mobius steps out.

The Avengers are in SHOCK.

BUCKY: (mumuring) ... Jesus Christ ...

HAWKEYE: (whispering) Holy shit, he's scarier than Nat.

MOBIUS: (to Loki) How'd I do?

LOKI: 2 minutes and 43 seconds. Not bad.

MOBIUS: Eh, still haven't beat your record.

LOKI: Well, I do have the advantage of magic. Should I take a handicap?

MOBIUS: Don't insult me.
