I had a day off today... During which I made; our Yule Cake, a rattle, a batch of hedgerow jelly and a batch of apple rings. I also fed the chickens, walked and fed the dogs, did the food shopping and started making a present for someone. I also drank a lot of tea and listened to some great music. This beauty sat on my sofa for a little while before she went to her forever home. I rather miss her presence. This is our road out... all the other roads for miles look very similar. I had a workshop booked today - with a roomful of wonderful women who were coming to keep their appointment with The Spirits. At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to get there. Then I though they would surely not make it through the floods... but set up anyway, trusting the appointment and The Spirits. Each one made it there, despite ridiculous driving conditions and even more ridiculous water levels. Perhaps there never comes a time when you get so used to miracles that they don’t seem amazing. Fly Agaric has always stood for The Ancient One’s, The Ancestors, to me. Most plants and all the fungi on Earth have been here longer than we have and are wiser by far than us. In in-tact cultures plants are considered to be teachers. This teacher has been reminding me once again that this is the time to remember our dead. There is an appropriateness to healing our ancestral lines at this time of year. Now is the time to unravel the patterns, the ‘curses’, passed down to us from those who came before. Now is the time to deeply connect with where we come from, so that we may more clearly see where we are going.
