Middle of the night brain rot, what if it was photographer Y/N and Cryptid!Eclipse? Like a ghost hunter seeking footage, trying to just find proof of cryptids. Then on the flip side you would have Hunter!y/n and Orclipse... which probably wouldnt end well. Y/N out there hunting ocean cryptids, going off the deep end like moby dick. All of your Y/Ns have such unique personalities, so thoughtfully fleshed out into their own characters. It makes it so fun to think of these different scenarios. I'm gonna go back to bed haha We are having a third snow day in a row tomorrow because of a huge winter storm. There is literally 5 feet of snow on my front lawn. All I wanna do is get a nice big hot chocolate and draw.

Photographer Y/N would take a picture of the weird but sweet sun-looking animatronic they found in the woods. When looking at the photos on their computer, they can't figure out why their camera shows a dark, shadowy figure over the animatronic, and why the optics are so red. It's not exposure. It's not a camera malfunction. It has to be something.

Later, Photographer Y/N decides to take a picture of the mysterious moon-looking animatronic, with the flash on.

Meanwhile, poor Cryptid Hunter Y/N is going all out in the hunt for this deadly siren that's killed one too many humans, and geared with their harpoon, noise-canceling headphones, and a special desire to stop the scary thing, they battle with Eclipse. He's more intrigued by them than by him at first—they can't trust a cryptid, but Eclipse finds them amusing while trying to snatch their ankle and pull them into the frozen water.

Then he finds them cute, then... Well, he can't lure them to him with a song, but he has other charms, and once they're close enough, he'll rip that cursed device off their head and sing them a song they can't resist.

Review for chapters 4-6 under the cut!

Chapter 4:

Oooh Elendira is removing her under gear! (is that the term? the restraints, as she said)

djsfas their height and body differences. If they weren't trying to kill each other they could be so cute together (they still are, just in a very deadly way)

It was long overdue that we really got to see how good Elendira really fights when she's giving it her all! Very cool pose.

I might just have not read so thoroughly, but I wonder where they got their information about the planet's state? Like, knowing about Luida...

...but also about Vash? Is this information they got from the hivemind look into Knives' plant amalgamation, or have did they have other resources I forgot, like listening to radio frequencies, or stuff? I'll be waiting to see if any of you guys have any better idea about this.

Oooh and he can feel Vash's aura. Really cool that you are first only shown Legato's reaction and the fog...

...and THEN the destroyed Legato-gadget (Legadget) which even makes him flinch.

AND BAM banger of a page. It's Vash with his black coat. I love love the idea to also turn the coat black, to change that design for this moment, to really show he's that much closer to death. And the pose oh my. Still...well not really standing. But head bowed low. Holding onto himself like in pain. Gun cast downwards like his power has lost him. And the myriad of bullets lying around him to depict how much he just used... I really just love black coat Vash. It's giving me emotions because it's the embodyment of his lowest point in life. It's so tragic... (and it also looks so cool)

Chapter 5:

Trimax is making me sometimes think my reading comprehension is bad but is...Razlo owing the debt to Livio? Is it not Livio who is alive thanks to Razlo?

I really hope that they'll have Elendira grown up in season 2 of stampede (looks like that going by drawings we have seen!) and be her just as intimidating an opponent as here in Trimax.

Chapter 6:

With how good of a fighter Razlo is, this must be one of the very few, if not the first occassion he's feeling something like fear for his life...

The vial!! The vial from Wolfwood! The vial given by Vash to save Livio! Wolfwood's vial!

Anytime Wolfwood appears after vol10 it deals -20 instant damage.

On the next pages Elendira states that they switched personalities again, so I tried to pinpoint the moment, as this looks like it! Razlo's eye is fading out, but in the next panel we have the eye on the reader's left, Livio's metaphorical half, being shown! Nicely done artistically!

Aaah it's so cool that with vol10 the Razlo thing isn't just over, but we get more and it's being addressed again!

Aw I'd like to think that Razlo is crying because he's moved...like this is a big and important conversation for him too, and it probably means a lot to him that Livio apologizes again. And Razlo saying he's not good at this feeling stuff! Daww.

Not necessarily an intended parallel, but a nice one still: Both times judgement being cast from above. Wolfwood was struck by Chapel's gun fire afterwards but Livio can evade Elendira's nails! Not that I'm drawing a connection between Elendira and Chapel, I just think it's neat how we have these similiar pages for Wolfwood and Livio.

What I also really enjoy is that Livio manages to get back into the fight and keep up against Elendira not by miraculously getting stronger, but by teaming up with Razlo! It feels important to his character arc that this is what helps him in this most important battle. Before they'd done everything seperately, but now..!

Whoopsie. Elendira seems to have something up her sleeve that even Razlo isn't sure he'll be able to help. Now all he can do is trust Livio that he'll be the one to finish this for once!

Just finished the first episode of the G3 Monster High cartoon. Overall a pretty big fan of the animation and tone of that first episode. Still dont know how I feel about them mixing up the characters so much, but I think I will enjoy the series. Lagoona was never a big character for me, so I have no opinions on her change to predatory Lagoona Cat form. Having her start with Toralei's clique is in an interesting angle. Her color change (as well as Frankie's) make no sense to me. Draculaura is fine if not good, I really like the look (why is her brimmed hat not included with the doll?!), but I miss her being a bit of a ditz. I do like the witchcraft stuff as an alternative for a less valley girl Drac though. I like current Clawdeen but have been conflicted about the human biz since I watched the live action movie last October. Besides a little salt over the skin color change I♥U Frankie! I♥U Frankie! I♥U Frankie! I♥U Frankie! I♥U Frankie! They have always been a top runner for me, but this series will probably put them right up there with Ghoulia (waiting to see her in this too). I really like Cleo's new design. Only seen a couple peeks at who her character will be in this, but getting a vibe that ill like her more than I usually do. I like Deauce.0, and that his snakes say stuff like devils on his shoulder. The live action movie version was a lil meh to me. Not sure how he got saddled with the seven deadly sins though. I REALLY like Iris' new design, she is so cute. X3

Have you watched the anime Spyxfamily? Because i don’t know if it’s good or that it’s a good recommendation for me to watch it? Can you tell me about it and the details of it?

Omgosh, I love Spy x Family! It's soooo good. The main setting takes place in a fictional world that's inspired by a lot of European cities and there's also some sort of war going on.

In the beginning the main character is a spy named Twilight and he receives a new mission to infiltrate some organization but in order to do so he has to "build a family".

He adopts Anya from an orphanage and meets a woman named Yor who agrees to marry him/act the part of his wife. However! He doesn't realize that Anya is a telepath that can read minds and Yor is a professional secret assassin.

Both Yor and Loid (Twilight's new alias) are unaware of each others true identities or that Anya can read minds and knows what both of them actually do for a living.

It's a super cute series and all of them make the cutest found family ever. Anya is adorable (sometimes annoying but hey- she's a little kid and doesn't know better). Yor is totally badass, super sweet, down to earth, super skilled at being a deadly assassin and wants to be the best mother to Anya and a good wife for Loid. And while Loid is a super cool totally slick and expert spy it's adorable when he starts to let Anya and Yor into his life and his walls start to crumble a little bit.

Plus, there's the fact that there's so much chemistry between Yor and Loid but they're both so tone deaf when it comes to romance and they're also equally paranoid about the other finding out about their real identities so whenever romance does come up between them they both fumble the bag- and HARD *lol

All in all, it's a super cute series and pretty hilarious. If you have the time to check it out I'd totally recommend it~! ♥♥♥

I am working my way through his filmography as well tbh, so my advice might not be the best hahaha however I'm still going to give my personal faves <3 I haven’t gotten around much of young Cruise’s roles, as I am an old man loving kinda gal. I will watch them eventually (Have seen a few like Risky Business and Cocktail tho)!!! So yeah this little list will be mostly old man Cruise.

Note after making the list: I guess those 5 movies are my favourite Cruise movies so far (not counting the Mission Impossible saga)!

Knight and Day (2010)

A wonderful duo with Cameron Diaz!! 

I wouldn’t say Knight and Day is the best Cruise movie but honestly it is my favourite Cruise movie. I’d say it’s an easy movie to introduce Tom Cruise to someone who doesn’t like him that much. It’s just sooo funny and Tom’s character is adorable, I love Roy so much!! ♥ I love the overly trained, deadly kind of characters, and Roy checks that out beautifully with a lot of bonus humor and kindness. He’s so earnest throughout the whole movie, idk he’s just super cute!! ALSO IF YOU’RE FRENCH (or are learning French, or whatever if you’re interested in French) PLEASE PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE WITH THE FRENCH DUB, IT’S SOOOO GOOD. Cameron and Diaz’s VAs are always amazing and they DELIVERRRRRR SO WELL in this as well!! I always watch this movie with the French dub, it’s even funnier than the original imo jjggjnh

Collateral (2004)

Amazing. This has rewired my brain. Once again the overly trained character kind, but in such a different and opposite way to Roy. It’s so interesting to see Cruise in such a cold and deadly role, the way he speaks, the way he moves... the SALT AND PEPPER HAIR AND BEARD UUUGHH that’s all right up my alleeeeeyyyy!!!! He’s just a little feral dude ♥ You’ll get to see Vincent break down a little throughout the movie and honestly what’s not to love about a cold, emotionless hitman lamenting about people’s indifference? Great movie!!! I have so much more to say about it but i will shut up now.

Oblivion (2013)

Honestly this movie is worth it just for the amazing, amazing scenery and OST. Like what the hell? The music has punched my breath away so many times!! Also Tom is super cute as Harper so what’s not to love? Spent the whole time watching it wondering what the FUCK was going on!!!!! ♥ but it all unfolds at one point so it’s alright! I really loved this one aaa ALSO I LOVE SCIFI LET’S GOOO

The Last Samurai (2003)

I mean. That LOOK. Long hair and beard? sign me the FUCK UP!!!! Amazing music by Hans Zimmer, amazing actors, KEN WATANABE IS THERE!!! I love Ken Watanabe!! I haven’t seen this movie in YEARS but guess what, making this gif made me want to watch it again so i’ll do it TONIGHT. Truly it is a must-watch of Tom Cruise’s filmography. Seeing this character find peace and something worth living and fighting for while discovering a culture so different from his own and trying his very best to try and learn... :’( also he’s great with kids and that’s jussstttt my thing /)w(\

The look? Immaculate once again. Gay vibes? Honey they aren’t even vibes anymore, they are those full blown bass boosted shit that make everything shake and quake!!!! I love that role even more since i learned that the author behind Interview with the Vampire really didn’t like the idea of Tom playing Lestat, they did it anyway. However after watching the movie she was like “I have to publicly apologize to this man, he understood Lestat perfectly.” GIRL YOU KNOW WHAT, ME TOO. I was hesitant about watching this cuz...Vampire Cruise?? can he pull it off?? LET ME TELL YOU HE FUCKING CAN ALRIGHT. Really his Lestat is so freaking good it’s insane, I love him so much, I was only interested in HIM!!! Give me more Lestat!!!!!

Those are the ones I personally recommend. I wanted to put Jack Reacher (2012+2016) in here too because it’s once again the overly trained man trope that I love, but there are already two of them in this list so I think it’s enough!

I hope I’m not too bland and/or classic with my personal recs, it’s just that I love those movies to bits and I’m more likely to watch those more than once to analyze or have a good time!

I think overall all Cruise movies are worth watching! He has played a lot of different and interesting roles, it’d be a shame to ignore some of them. I’m thinking about Born on the Fourth of July for example, that’s such an amazing and heartwrenching performance. The man can be a lot of things.

He usually likes to squat over the ship’s railing, and you are fed up with telling him to be careful, because if he happens to slip and fall into the ocean, he won’t be able to swim being a Devil Fruit user. But Ace never listens…

A perfect summer night found you and your beloved Hiken no Ace enjoying the sky, no clouds, full of brilliant stars, waiting for the perfect shooting star, perhaps to make the wish of never being apart.

The crew was already sleeping and you two decided to spend time alone on the dock of the Moby Dick. You’ve cooked a delicious dessert for him. Cream, strawberries, sweet taste. You feed Ace with a spoon and then he tries to do the same, but.. he smears cream all over your nose. “Ace!!”, you protest, but laugh. You love him for how funny, how cute, how different he is from the others.

You both pass the night laughing, and begin to flirt, a little kiss, a little touch. Ace stands up and walks over the bow holding your hand. He pulls you to him, helping you to climb to the big white head of a whale that garnishes the front part of Shirohige’s enormous ship.

“Ace… it’s dangerous…”, you warn him while he keeps pulling from you to the very edge of the whale. “I can’t believe that a pirate like you, part of the Pops crew, is scared of this”, he says to you, mocking you.

“I’m not scared for me, I’m scared for you…”, you tell him, because you know well how deadly it is for him if he happens to slip and fall into the water. “Don’t worry, come here”, he says to you, hugging you real tight.

Your face buries onto the warm skin of his chest, you let your worries aside, enjoying the scent of his skin, a mix between burnt sugar and some kind of manly perfume. He brushes his hands over your back and kisses your head. You can hear the sound of the Grand Line waves crashing on the ship and his heartbeat as you put your ear over the left side of his chest. It bumps for you, and just for you…

He grabs your chin in between his thumb and index finger, and pulls subtly your head up. You interlock eyes, and see the flame that burns strong on his eyes. Ace plants a kiss so soft, so sweet on your lips and tells you “I love you”, without separating lips.

An intense make out session follows, you are like two little ants over that huge wooden whale, bathed by the moonshine, that this night, for some reason, shines more than ever.

But doing things softly is not something that belongs to Ace, and he quickly changes to a rougher lover. He lifts you up and you have no other choice than crossing your legs around his narrow waist. One of his arms is passed under your ass, holding you up, and the other reaches for your hair. He brushes his fingers through some strands of your hair, and pulls from it, exposing your neck to him.

Ace places kisses, bites, smooches, and probably some hickies all over the skin of your neck and even lower. Both of you have forgotten about the risk of falling, so you let your lover worship your body and devour you… but…

A sudden violent move moves the ship, catching you two by surprise. Ace slips pushing you to the middle of the deck in order to save you from falling. But he falls on his back to the sea.

“Ace!!!”, you scream, even more horrified because you quickly notice that what has bumped on the ship was a sea king. He was in double danger, so you just have to save him… even if that means that your secret is going to be revealed…

The water around where Ace has fallen on turns troubled, and you even see the tail of the sea king monster prepared to devour your lover. You take off your pants, look at the moon letting the shine penetrate through your eyes and plunge into the water.

As your body enters into the water, it begins to suffer a transformation. Your hair changes color, your skin turns into a more brilliant and waterproof flesh, and your legs become a tail, with aqua green, blues and lilacs scales that look almost as if they were iridescent under the water lightened by the moonshine. You were a mermaid, a moonlit mermaid. But your crew, not even Ace knew it… you have escaped your kingdom in order to live a life of freedom, you wanted to acquaint yourself with the whole world…

The sea monster is now facing you, and Ace is slowly falling into the deepness of the sea as an anchor. He sees you but quickly after he loses consciousness.

Your eyes meet the sea monster’s eyes, you have no Haki, but you can speak to them. “Beloved sea creature, I’m begging you please, leave this son of the sea… he is Roger’s son…”. The big monster closes his eyes, and you can hear it say “Save him”. Then, swims away.

Your tail moves into the ocean streams almost by itself, although you can walk, this feels natural for you. So many nights have passed since the last time the moonshine has turned you into a mermaid… you don’t regret leaving your old life for this one, but your body surely feels energized, powered, better.

You grab Ace by his waist and swim to the sea surface to make him grab a big gasp of air, but he doesn’t. Then, you left him on the shore. For some reason you can turn back into a human, but you forgot, because the only thing you want right is for Ace to breathe.

You give him mouth to mouth, and some compressions over his chest, but he doesn’t breathe. Tears begin to run from your eyes, and splash over his skin. Ace wakes up with a big gasp, he is breathing now. How could you forget your tears are life when the moon activates them? Have you forgotten your powers after all these years of neglecting your true nature? He looks like a wet puppy, scared, but amazed. He is looking at you, at your mermaid form.

I remember an ask a while back about whether Y/N would see that cryptids weren’t all evil after meeting a more sort of harmless or cute cryptid, and that obviously hasn’t happened with Eclipse, but oddly enough I feel like it’s more impactful to have Y/N’s change of mindset be because of Eclipse

With a Cryptid that’s more docile and naturally friendly, there’s always the reasoning that ‘oh it’s just in its nature’, that this cryptid is an exception in that it can’t be harmful and that it’s a diamond among the rough or something similar

But with Eclipse, he’s proven that he is dangerous. I mean Y/N has seen him ripping cryptids apart - both dead and alive. And yet, despite the fact that killing people is in his nature (albeit he typically only kills rule breakers or out of self defence as I believe was the case with that one Hunter), he doesn’t harm Y/N. Now there’s still going to be a period of wariness before Y/N realises that Eclipse isn’t going to attack them the minute they turn their back, but once they do get to that point… that change in mindset for them, that not all Cryptids are inherently evil, will be even more impactful - because at that point they’ll be with Eclipse, an ancient and powerful force of nature, who only feels love for Y/N, and that realisation that Eclipse is with them out of choice (in spite of his deadly nature) and not because he’s a cryptid who’s naturally friendly will be all the more powerful

A case of, ‘it’s not that you can’t hurt me, because you can, but you choose not, and that makes this all the more special

Idk if anyone’s brought this up before but it’s only just properly clicked with me as to why Eclipse’s kindness and love goes on to make such a huge difference and why exactly the way Y/N comes to open their mind about Cryptids is so important and special

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes! I want to rattle this entire ask so badly because that's it—one can only be gentle if one is capable of destruction. Eclipse has, can, and will kill and maim, but they will see to it that not one hair is harmed on their little hunter's head.

That's why it was impossible for Y/N to believe their dear animatronic friend could be a cryptid. Cryptids, demonic cryptids, don't do what Sun and Moon have done for Y/N. It took seeing both the carnage and the care for it finally to click into place, but, of course, that's a difficult pill to swallow as we'll see in the next episode.

I want to talk more about learning and adjusting to this fact and Y/N coming to the realization that this demonic cryptid loves them dearly, but I don't want to risk spoilers, so just know I am eyeing this so hard.

What made me like them

Honestly, another thing that made me love Osamu is how smart he is. Like… boy. Watch him for a few minutes, you’ll see what I mean. He’s so smart and I really adored that, and still do. It’s like he’s always a few steps ahead and it’s part of what makes him so fascinating.

SO SOFT FOR HIS SMILE… whenever he gets that look, that cute lil smile I just melt and die because I love it so so SO much and chfffggffgffggcgfcgfffgffg!!!!!! It’s just one if my favourite things because it’s so wonderful!!!!! Let him be happy!!!!!

A little about the nicknames we use (as opposed to going over more, I thought thus would be cool!)

‘(My) Belladonna’ came from the fact that it’s a deadly plant- it’s deadly nightshade if I remember correctly- but also means ‘fair lady’ in Italian. So, it’s kind of like a ‘deadly beauty’ thing. ‘(My) Asphodel’ was from some more death symbolisim, because while it was the usual flower connotations and idea of being as pretty as a flower, but it was used as a symbol of death and as basically a funeral flower for (I believe) the Greeks… so yes, more Osamu being Osamu here. But that’s part of what I love about him ♥︎ it’s Osamu after all. ‘(My) Rose’ was pretty simple in comparison, it’s my favourite flower and one traditionally associated with love, and of course known for being beautiful. So basically, the plant-based ones are him saying I’m pretty in a less direct way (although he also says that all the time). ‘Bunny’ just was something he picked up even before we became a couple, since my family calls me that and he thought it was adorable.

‘Love’ and ‘Dear’ on my end are pretty typical, don’t need too much explaining on that front. Calling him ‘Osamu’ is pretty simple too- it is just his first name- but there’s a bit more to calling him his first name than it just being his name. I used to call him ‘Dazai’ for awhile earlier on, but as we became closer it felt better just to use his first name. It’s also just got a more intimate feel to it; as if I’m special, you know? ♥︎

A headcanon of our relationship/friendship

Okay so;;; I’m gonna take the opportunity to discuss some pre-relationship facts because that was a TIME and I love writing about it honestly-

Back even before we were married or even dated, he was still an expert at making me blush. It was kind of our thing even then where he’d be talking, and he’d throw in a flirty comment or something similar before just walking away lmao. Although!!! I got back a him a few times before we actually got together. The most infamous incident at the ADA was when a client came over, but Osamu had made his move earlier that morning (he said “how could I say no to someone so cute?” when I asked if he could pass some papers) so I got VENGENCE… he asked me to pass him a file, so I said “Sure, sweetheart” and kissed his cheek before walking away. He actually blushed a bit so I count that as a victory.

Our relationship can seem super carefree at times, but there’s moments where you can really see there’s more than just fluffy romance- kind of like a parallel Osamu himself in a way. For awhile in the beginning, honestly, the ADA just thought it was mostly like that. Upbeat and carefree, not super serious… but then I ended up in danger, and they’d never seen him so upset. A super long story short, once we were reunited again he was almost in tears, an wouldn’t let go of me while the others just watched. I made sure to reassure him that I was okay, I wasn’t going anywhere, it’d be alright- and everybody was just hit with how much we really loved one another.

Found your Sleuth Jesters au through art and started reading...yesterday?

Anyway point is, that parts one through three really eased me in and I didn't see part four and five coming. Very much a situation of, "aww, what a cute and slightly spicy cops and robbers au!" While future chapters loomed silently behind me wielding weapons labeled in glitter pen. (Identity angst, consequences, good world building, whatever suits your fancy.)

But man. The way you built up the fear (perceived certainty) of rejection and guilt in the later chapters so that it colored every single one of the Vigilante's interactions with the Detectives, even the previously safe or comforting ones, raises the tension and hurt deliciously slow. Like mourning a future that hasn't died yet and being left unable to enjoy the present. I did not miss the parallels between Sun talking about confession timing and Moon's rooftop request. (I get why Y/N didn't notice the intended subject, deadly combo of denial and habit, but I still wanted to throttle them a little.)

I'd have to say your characterization, pacing, and character interactions are your strongest points in this series. Each character has a distinct personality, history, and motivation that drives them and it only gets clearer when the story unravels and you become more familiar with each of them. The pacing helps keep the stakes and skills in balance while never slacking it's grip on the reader's attention, not even during the "down time" parts where it feels like relief. It's clear you've put a lot of effort and love into the series as a whole. ;)

And just one more thing (insert Columbo reference here)...when Eclipse asked about the whole vigilante shtick it wasn't just about "making a difference" was it? It was also a kind of penance that the reader feels they'll never pay off. A combination of "this will be more effective/worthwhile than turning myself in because it's like community service! Except I actually get to put my skills to good use!" and "I really don't want to go to jail just to sit and stew in my guilt until they finally decide my death will somehow pay for all the crimes of a group I've already killed." Freedom was definitely a bonus though huh?

Vigilante!Y/N is definitely making up for the lost time with their vigilantism! Jail/submitting to the law is never really one of their main concerns, so definitely didn't really care to consider turning themselves in lol, but they do want to make amends with their morality. They know they can help this city by fighting for it, and not fighting within and further escalating the rot that's taken over. Their hatred is a weapon and finally, they've turned it onto the ones who deserve it for not doing better to help this city.
