Roy was made to feel like he shouldn’t show his emotions growing up and that lead to him bottling everything up even as a child. And the only place he was allowed to let out negative emotions in particular was on the football pitch. So he did. And anger made him run faster, work harder, get to the ball before others and kick it so hard that the keeper couldn’t touch it. Anger made him an iconic player in the Premier League on Chelsea and still beloved for it even after on Richmond. It’s hard to let go of something that helped him become so successful even though it’s not healthy to keep things so bottled up. As an adult, Roy continues to keep things mostly bottled up, he’s awkward with his emotions, struggles to see what the hell it is the ‘Diamond Dogs’ do but thinks its ‘fucking cool’ that sometimes they just meet up to let things out without needing the others to jump in and try to fix things. Because sometimes it’s best to just feel heard and nothing else. And for Roy, who rarely opens up like he did in that scene, that was pretty fucking cool and made him feel valid in his emotions for once.

i've talked before about how Mob's trust in Dimple overrode his natural anti-spirit protections and allowed Dimple to possess him during the World Domination arc [link to that] WELL NOW I'M BACK WITH MORE!!

by the end of Mob and Dimple's confrontation in the Divine Tree arc not only is Mob too weak to move at all, Dimple is so powerful he's able to force Mob past that to walk all the way back home. there doesn't appear to be any energy boost/transfer like Mob was able to do with totally wiped out Shou during the previous arc. he just brute forces Mob into moving.

(additional note: every time we see Dimple from Mob's perspective he is in little cloud form. presumably Dimple is also making Mob see him like that. he's making sure Mob's last memories of him aren't "god power took over the city and just had a big fight Dimple" he wants them to be "my friend Dimple")

Mob stands up, starts walking away, then turns to look at Dimple behind him for a sec before continuing.

however just a few steps later he becomes visibly concerned and even stumbles a little bit, then turns to look at Dimple again.

Dimple waves goodbye, Mob waves goodbye, and from that point Mob doesn't falter. when he turns away from Dimple he looks emotionless and is totally unaffected by the big fight happening behind him. before the broccoli attacks Dimple it's all silent. the background music is swelling at this point but from previous scenes we know it's (relatively) calm and quiet inside the divine tree. there was nothing to possibly alert or startle Mob into looking back at this moment. he is near powerless and Dimple's brainwashing is so strong it was able to fully override his bodily functions. and his unconscious worry is still so strong it's able to break thru all that for just a second.

and all it takes to get him going is a smile and a wave goodbye. Mob's trust in Dimple is once again strong enough to overpower his natural instincts.

get home safe, i'll be right behind you, i've just gotta make a quick pit-stop.

Was he having an asthma attack? The air felt thin. His heart was racing. Chest felt painful like someone was sitting on it. The stereotypical expiratory wheezing wasn’t initially present but it was starting up. However the panic attack had started first when he had been on gate duty and a couple walkers had made their way to rattle at the gate a bit. It was his first turn at it since the herd and the Wolves had attacked Alexandria and he’d thought he’d be up for it and it would get him out of his house as he’d not left since the incident. The snarling and rattling had been enough to send Dominic back into his head. Memories not just of the night of the Wolves but back with his time with the Hellhounds. If he closed his eyes, he was back there. In that cage. Fingers reaching through the bars to try to grab at him while the dead snarled and groaned. He was back in the position on the ground, balled up, trying to be small, kicking at nonexistent threats while he covered his ears to escape the snarling that was louder in his head than in actuality.

That’s when Rick had been called over by someone passing by. Dominic could vaguely hear Rick calling his name with the roaring of blood in his ear and the sound of his own panicked breathing. Yet it didn’t register until the man had turned him onto his side facing away from the gate. Dominic had initially tried to swing at Rick in his panic but the man caught him by the wrist and held it until recognition had sparked in the younger man’s eyes.

Wide brown eyes stared at Rick in a way that he might as well have been screaming for help. Yet he regained some of his focus, glancing around to find that he in fact was not trapped inside anything. Instead Rick was down low with him, trying to bring him back. “I -- can’t,” Dominic choked out, wheezing out a strangled breathe nearly inaudibly.

“Count your breaths with me, okay? Ready? One, two, three, four…”

Dominic shut his eyes tightly, trying to force his breath to stop for a moment before he looked back at Rick. After a struggled moment, Dominic forced in a bigger breath. “One...”
