How would the conversation even go?

I would guide Arthur to our bedroom gently. Sit them down and have a conversation along the lines of:

"My King, you need to be prepared when I inevitably end up like my sister. You need to be ready. Your knights need to be ready. Your servants need to be ready. Everyone needs to know what to do and where to go when it happens. You need a word to shout to let everyone know when it happens. You can't spare any methods. Poison, arrows, fire, you need to use everything at your disposal. You have to make it quick, the longer you take the more people you will lose. Do not hesitate, for the beast you will see will not be me."

In fact, I would suggest to slowly start poisoning me when I show the first signs of madness.

Ngl Arthur would probably cry. They resist the poisoning with all their being, planning ways for their spouse to be contained safely.

If all fails, Arthur would want to be the one facing their Hound. Excalibur is distressed as much as he is, and though the blows are precise and strong, it stays purposefully blunt. Arthur would let MC kill him before he killed them.

Ah shit, now I want an episode where Merlin somehow hears that Aithusa has been captured by an evil King.

Arthur is like: We have to get on good terms with that King. He knows how to capture dragons. Let's go, Merlin.

And the entire episode, Merlin debates whether to tell Arthur that they need to FREE the dragon because that's what Dragons are meant to be.

Then, Merlin sees the state Aithusa is in.

Evil King: it was tough to have it bow to my will. It loves to bite the hand that feeds it, haha. You shouldn't get too close.

Merlin: *not listening* walks over to where Aithusa is in chains.

Arthur: Merlin, what the hell are you doing!!!!

Merlin: She's hurt.

Arthur: yes, that's kind of the point. Now get away before- she?

Merlin starts petting the Dragon who is now whining and whimpering into his arms.

Merlin: *whispering* shhhh, my dear. I'll get you out of here. I'll be back tonight.

Evil King: It's not... Biting him? That's interesting

Arthur: Ignore him. He's just my idiot servant. For some reason, animals love him. It's just his nature

Evil King: That thing, King Arthur, is not an animal. That's a magical creature and magical creatures only feel safe around even more powerful magical creatures.

Arthur: *opens mouth, closes it, laughs* you wanna tell me that Merlin is a magical creature?

Evil King: would you care to explain, boy? *Completely serious*

Arthur: *expression falls* you can't be serious

Merlin: *remaining in his position* So, I see you did your homework

Evil King: You're a Dragon Lord

Arthur: oh come on! The last Dragon Lord is dead!

Merlin: I am the last Dragon Lord and I hatched this Dragon. You can imagine that I am NOT pleased with what I find here.

Evil King: oh. OH. That's rich. Is this your idea of peace, King Arthur? Bringing a Dragon Lord into my Kingdom? One who's out for revenge too?

Arthur: he's joking

Merlin: No, I'm not

Arthur: *huffs, and notices Merlin is also serious* Merlin, you HAVE to be joking. That THING-

I know that Merlin partly helps Arthur because of the prophecy and what Arthur and him could bring HAD he survived after the finale.

What I love though, is Merlin emphasizing how he serves Arthur, how he is proud of that. That seeking credit is not why he does it. He does it because Arthur is his friend.

Basically, Merlin makes sure Arthur knows that he protects and cares for him because he’s Arthur, not (only) because he’s the Once and future King but because he’s just Arthur, a man that he cares for and that was enough.

Apparently collagen chews are the magic solution to little boys chilling at barn hunt class between his turns. A class of 8 dogs with multiple reactive dogs is a tough environment, but he doesn't care if he's got his chew stick.

Arthur did so amazing in class today!!! He was really thoroughly searching the bales with no handler direction. My husband and I alternate who handles him, and he did so well for both of us, we just stood back and watched him. He was so clever, he would go to the last spot the rat was and really sniff and make sure it wasn't there, then move on. It was funny watching him sniffing sniffing sniffing and just happen to miss where the rat was, but then he'd catch the scent and freeze and go back. It's also so funny watching his tail, because you can tell as soon as he gets the scent because he goes from his usual happy constant wagging to turbo wagging. His indication behaviour is pawing at where the rat tube is, but usually we have to step in and reward him for the nose and then ask for some paw action. But today as soon as he found it he immediately pawed at it with no direction! Arthur is really getting good at this game. What a champ! So awesome that he worked at a distance with little direction AND pawed at it right away. He also never seems to give a false indication, he only indicates if he's sure the rat is there, rather than false indicating on the residual scent in the last place it was. If he keeps it up we'll be trialling in no time!

Arthur is the king. He needs to make tough decisions, it's literally his sworn duty to protect his people, that includes from a Hound gone insane. That's what it means to be a leader, to make the tough decisions and be responsible for them. MC's family seems to know that, it's his turn.

See, Arthur may sometimes not be a very good king. He did take some very hard choices for his kingdom, but when the time comes for him to face something extremely stressful, he never knows if he will manage to bear the weight of the Crown and choose the decision that's better for the Kingdom.

This is why he has anxiety, and why it will get worse in time. Sometimes, he can't do it.
