i think the thing that irritates me the most about how the fandom treats elain is that it is having an effect on those characters for me. like i can’t stand lucien anymore because i know behind a potential lucien stan is blatant misogyny. same as gwyn. i didn’t care for her in the first place but i actively dislike her character now.

the worst part is i don’t WANT to dislike these characters. but they’ve been tainted because of the elain slander and that’s ruined them for me. don’t come at me with “you could just ignore them” because i’ve seen at least 6 different abysmal takes today all revolving around how gwyn is better than elain / how elain needs to leave the night court and at some point enough is enough.

i’ve tried the positive approach but clearly it’s not working. i’m tired of watching elriels have to bend over backwards to make our theories or characters insights/analysis more palatable for them. when have they ever returned the favour. when have they ever respected elain enough to be gentle with their takes about her.

i’m sorry. i know this is a little toxic of a post from me. but i’m so frustrated. it just makes me so fucking SAD watching them go after her for no reason other than being in the way of their ship / not being the perfect mate to bring their ship to life.
