November 1989 (set October 23, 2994). The first issue of the relaunched LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES series reveals that during the five-year gap following the end of the previous series, former Legionnaire Shrinking Violet, whose real name is Salu Digby, had joined the military when her homeworld of Imsk went to war with the planet Braal, homeworld of fellow Legionnaire Cosmic Boy (Rokk Krinn). By this point, several years later, Imsk has won the war and is occupying Braal, but Vi is in a military stockade.

As the page above alludes, in 2991, Vi and her unit were involved in an Imskian war crime, and she's been imprisoned because she refuses to retract her official protest or agree to keep her mouth shut about what happened.

In the previous series, Vi had expressed a romantic interest in fellow Legionnaire Ayla Ranzz (Lightning Lass), who hesitated, briefly seemed receptive, and then made a panicky dive into an aggressive hetero flirtation with Rokk Krinn's younger brother Pol (who was then killed in the final storyline of the previous series). We learn here that during her imprisonment, Vi and Ayla have been writing to each other, and Ayla has invited Vi to join her on the family's agricultural commune on the planet Winath, where Ayla has gone to live with her brother Garth (formerly known as Lightning Lad) and his wife (Imra Ardeen Ranzz, formerly known as Saturn Girl) since the Legion disbanded. Newly released from the army, Vi finally agrees.

This is an example of the radical shift in the complexity and sophistication of this phase of Legion history. The previous series had had some elaborate plots and characterization, but at the end of the day, it was still a superhero comic. This was something else, and not only in storytelling style. It's regrettable that a pointless series of editorial battles ended up making it such a mess, and even more regrettable that DC later decided to abandon it in favor of a return to cutesy adventures of cute teen heroes with no history. The point in this series was that the characters had BEEN cute teen heroes, but they grew up, and so did the universe around them — both for good and for ill.

post just for me really but i was thinking abt how, assuming that morty was correct abt calling young rick 27 in his fear hole, rick must be at least late 50s - early 60s. probably 57? 30 years in space doing a lot.

the timelines are wonky bc idk the exact yr canon is in (it cant be 2013 because beth was like. 4 when she died n is 34 now & presumably died in 1998 when rick was 27 n 1998 is. obviously not 30 years before 2013 lmao) but the ages feel like they line up. presuming rick had beth when he was 23 with this mind which is cute to imagine young 20s parents rick n diane.

none of this has to be correct of course i dont care too deeply abt the exact ages of everyone bc the show only tells u specifics if u really need to know (summer being 17 morty being 14) but it was fun to try doing the math

If you're willing to run another bonus poll, I'd love to know the percentage of your followers listen to audio dramas vs. actual play/TTRPGs vs. both. Or a Kinsey scale of sorts might provide better metrics. I would think there is a strong overlap but would love to see the numbers!

A Kinsey scale is interesting, and I could turn off reblogs so only you all (and people you manually share it with) would answer. That and the limit to just two types of podcasts might provide different results than this poll.

I'd also be interested in quantity of podcasts vs quantity of listening hours, and will try and figure out how to represent two different axes of data on a twelve-option single-choice poll. Given the different average runtimes for the different types of podcasts, someone (me, lol) could easily listen to more audio dramas but spend more hours of their life listening to actual plays.

There’s nothing wrong with assuming retirement, I hope we’re wrong but just think logically where we’re at:

- she left arsenal as soon as she could to be closer to her wife. She wanted ACFC but Loserville wouldn’t give up her rights so she settled for Seattle as that was at least the West Coast.

- She had a 2023 player option at OL Reign that she’s clearly declined, she wouldn’t of declined it without a better option available

- it’s a week until the season and she’s still not training or signed to a team. All she’s doing is being a WAG attending events with Christen, and working on Re inc stuff.

So the logical conclusion is only one of two things. A) she’s going to sign with ACFC eventually, but not until she’s completely healthy. Or B) she’s decided to retire.

Yup.

Until very recently we have all been going with option A, but the longer it takes the more likely option B becomes.

If she isn't completely healthy at this point she hit a wall somewhere, which isn't surprising. For some reason people just can't deal with the fact that players, especially 34 year old players often retire due to their bodies not being fit enough anymore for pro sports.

If she does sign for ACFC she clearly decided to give it another try. If she doesn't then she may have simply not wanted to put her body through more grueling rehab and training.
