I got the idea of this ficlet from this pic, which is from the show but some work has been done to put them closer and this is really great. If you want to read what came to me as I saw the pic, you can find that on my AO3, or here it is:

They are standing too close like they usually do, but this time Dean doesn't say anything about personal space. He just stays there and that makes Cas look at him even more attentively.

Dean doesn't step back and he stares at Cas's eyes like he has done it a million times already except this time there is something different. Cas can tell, it seems like he can sense determination. That's not the first time he saw it in Dean's eyes but this close it is.

His breath should be steady with this kind of determination but it is brushing Cas's face and what he can say is that it's the opposite of steady. It's hitching. Cas squints his eyes and tilts his head like this is going to give him an answer. It doesn't, but it makes Dean's eyes glancing a little down before going back up and Dean leans slightly closer.

Then, his breath stops, which makes Cas look concerned but it's quickly erased when he decides to close the gap between them.

Only one part of their body is touching and it's already too much, that both have to close their eyes as their lips crash together.

It's just a light stroke of lips against his, but somehow Cas feels Dean frowning and his reflex is to cradle his jaw, his thumb stroking the cheek soothingly. And instantly, he feels Dean softening against his lips and hand.

That's when he decides to pull away, removing his hand too, giving Dean time to catch the breath he'd been holding since the kiss began, but neither of them steps back too far. Dean doesn't look at Cas's eyes anymore, his gaze is lowered and Cas's heart clenches in his chest thinking that Dean might regret what just happened.

"What'd you do this?" Dean asks, still looking down.

"I'm sorry, Dean - I thought this is what you wanted when you leaned closer." Cas explains, and is ready to step further back but is stopped by Dean's hand grabbing his arm just above his elbow.

"I'm not - this wasn't -" Dean stutters and takes a break, swallowing hardly, struggling to say what he really wants to. "Why'd you stop kissing me?" He asks, finally meeting Cas's surprised eyes, then adds, "Why'd you stop touching me?" Then all he sees is Cas's slight smile before his lips crash his again with a bigger intensity than the first time, with more touch. Cas's left hand cradles his jaw, moving up to tangle his fingers with Dean's hair while the other is grabbing his shoulder to pull him even closer. All Dean can do his to hold onto Cas for dear life.
