The more I think about season 2, the more grateful I am.
In a lot of ways, OFMD's writers, cast, and crew were given an almost impossible task. S1 was brilliant and took everyone by surprise by how successful it became. I am still shocked every time I rewatch by how smart and efficient the writing is, how intelligent the social commentary. S1 is a masterclass in good television.
And for s2, expectations were incredibly high. OFMD found massive word-of-mouth success in a way I've never seen with any other show, and they suddenly had a big, incredibly passionate audience - the renewal was because of massive fan support, and that must have translated to an incredible amount of pressure in the writer's room. Plus, as if that wasn't enough on its own, they're having to deal with budget cuts and Max slashing them down to only 8 episodes to tell a 10-episode story. This is an incredibly daunting task.
And yeah, I've been critical. OFMD is my favorite show, no contest, and it's easy to be critical of the things we love. We can all see that the pacing was off this season, especially in those last two episodes. Some arcs felt rushed; some side characters didn't get enough screen time to set up what they're doing this season. Jim and Olu especially suffer for that. It's inexcusable that this show's budget was slashed the way it was and I'm sad for what we could have had.
But, on the whole? Holy shit, this season was incredibly successful! Despite an incredible amount of fan pressure, the writers told the story they wanted to tell. They never lost sight of Ed and Stede's story, and were smart about allocating screen time so our leads' arcs never suffered too much for it. There's so much creative problem solving - when they realized they'd need to be smart about which side characters to keep on screen, they turned Buttons into a bird in a way that underscored season themes of transformation and change. 10/10, no notes. They even remembered their audience and left us on a satisfying note for all our characters - we get to end with Ed and Stede, happy and together, starting their new life.
They had an impossible task and they did a fucking commendable job. Character beats and humor are balanced amazingly well. Ed and Stede feel so much more fleshed out this season. Just like in s1, OFMD will never be a show where you can catch everything with one watch - there's so many little jokes, hidden gags, small details to discover with every rewatch. And every single actor is giving it their all in every scene! You can tell how much this show was a labor of love for everyone involved.
I'm proper fucking impressed. Here's hoping they get a renewal and a better budget for season 3!

𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
What are code words?
According to Oxford Languages, code words are, "a word used for secrecy or convenience instead of the usual name for something." And the example sentence used beneath the definition is, "secret projects were identified by special code words." I briefly mentioned code words (also can be referred to as switch words) in a recent post where I discuss the importance of a manifestation foundation and how to create one.
How do code words work?
Code words are cues that mean something without explicitly giving details. One would automatically connect the code word to whatever definition that's been assigned to it. A code word can also be a phrase, or a trigger for those who know what the code word means. Sometimes hypnotherapists even use code words while hypnotizing their clients.
What are some examples of code words?
Look in the world around you, hospitals and law enforcement use code words. For example, in most hospitals they have code words like 'code blue' which could widely mean a patient requiring resuscitation or otherwise in need of immediate medical attention, most often as the result of a respiratory or cardiac arrest. On the flip side, law enforcement and even emergency dispatchers have codes as well, usually used in the form of a series of numbers that describe particular situations without needing to say anything but those specific order of numbers. Such as, in most American police code, a 10-00 code means that an officer is down or needs assistance. Do you notice how both codes are simple, short, but mean very specific things? The people that use these codes automatically know what these codes mean, subconsciously, without needing the wordy explanation on what they mean after they've studied, and associated those situations with this code. Codes make it easier to remember specific scenarios, the subconscious already knows what these codes mean. And in these professions, they are way more codes out there that we aren't even aware of, but they are.
How can I use code words to manifest?
Most people may already be using affirmations, askformations/afformations, mantras, and other manifestation techniques to manifest. However, there may be a possibility that someone wants to manifest a very specific, detailed scenario and do not wish to constantly have to remember and repeat those details over and over. So, why not use the examples of thoss mentioned above and create your own code words to manifest those very specific, detail-oriented scenarios?
Are code words more powerful than affirmations?
Code words are just as powerful as affirmations because they are all working to do the same thing! However, there is a belief that because code words are so short and can have many different ideas connected to that singular word or phrase, it can quickly bypass the resistance one may have about a certain topic or situation. Also, code words make it extremely easy to repeat a set of affirmations in a short amount of time. They are extremely powerful in their own way, but never sell affirmations short on how powerful they are as well. Both work amazingly!
Can you give an example on how to create code words and how I can use them in my manifestation journey?
I'll use myself as an example. Let's say that I want to manifest completely flawless, clear skin. Simple enough, yeah, but let's say that I want to get detailed on how I would like my skin to be. I could easily say an affirmation like 'I have my dream skin,' or something along those lines, but, I also want to get extremely detailed in what my dream skin would look like simply to appease myself. For example—
My skin is perfect. My skin is always flawless. I have no hyperpigmentation. My body is blemishfree. I have an even skintone all around. Every product I use on my skin makes it 1000x more vibrant and glowy.
That's a lot of affirmations to remember, right? Fortunately, we know about code words! So... How would I choose a code word? Simple, I've decided that I will use SKIN for my code word, and I will read my list of affirmations a few times, and my subconscious mind will automatically connect my affirmations to this single code word. Think of it like this— my code word is like a bucket and my affirmations/thoughts that I want to be true about this particular topic, will be what fills the bucket. When most people look at a bucket, they automatically think that it is to hold something within it. That's exactly what the subconscious will do when you give it that code word.
Can my code word be more than one word?
Absolutely! You can even make a phrase! Think of it as your own little secret.
Could I use code words for anything, and by anything I mean anything?
Uh, hell yeah. You can use code words for anything you could possibly ever think of, even for the void if that's what you're secretly wondering.
How would I use code words to manifest entering the void // waking up in the void, etc?
Easy. Write down some affirmations/ statements you wish to be true about the void, doesn't matter what it is, and then choose a code word to use. VOID is a good code word to start. Once you've gotten your preferred code word, all you'll need to do is repeat your code word whenever you think about anything involving the void. Or whenever you need to correct doubtful thoughts. You may also robotically affirm VOID if you so choose to. You can also use the code word for easy 10k repetition. There are many ways to use code words, feel free to experiment!
Can I use code words with psych-k?
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to, so, feel free to experiment!
Wait... this sounds a lot like the list method, are code words and the list method the same?
No, but they are definitely similar in their own way, and can even be combined if you wished to do so! Code words and list defer because lists would involve different things of different topics, whereas code words would involve affirmations dealing with a very specific topic of your choice.
How could I combine the list method with code words?
Create your code words, and then make a list of those code words, then you could affirm that every single one of your code words are true and always will be true. Think of it as drawing out a web of thoughts.
NOTES -> and there we have it folks, code words. I hope that ya can use this tool to your advantage, if you've got any questions, I recommend to always do research or if you'd like, feel free to send me questions! good luck, and have fun!

Lewis Hamilton x Fem!Reader
Warnings: long lost love, unrequited love, pining, lewis isn't sure if he’d hallucinating or not, reader is a little stubborn and a little rude, reader’s brother and bestie are their number one supporters, one mention of the silverstone accident (no graphic details), mentions of car accidents and parental death.
Word Count: 4.3k
Author’s Note: this has been sitting in my draft for months and I finally have the motivation to finish it. I'm not really sure what this idea is but go with it // also age gaps and timelines are definitely off, sorry! just go with it.
-----
High school sweethearts -- not exactly.
He wasn’t truly in school, making appearances here and there but focused on his career. The jump from F2 to F1 was a crucial time.
You were his grounding spot.
The bedroom window creaked when he snuck in, laying beside you in the tiny bed as his head rests on your stomach. The two of you living in a fantasy world for those few hours.
“You’ll be by my side of course,” his fingers interlock with yours. He brings your hand up to his lips. “Married, 3 kids and a dog, a big house on the hill just like you always wanted.” He tells you, lips pressing to your ring finger.
“You mean that?” you asked, your own hand cupping his jaw as he looked up at you.
“I promise.”
Of course you believed him, you were 18 years old. Young and stupid was the story of your life. Lewis’ jump from F2 to F1 went by in the flash of an eye. You both got wrapped in the whirlwind.
You had watched him become an internationally known star; Sir Lewis Hamilton.
The same Lewis Hamilton that promised you a big house on the hill, marriage and 3 kids. The same Lewis who you fell in love with the first time you spoke to him. The days went by, the distance growing between you two; they say absence makes the heart grow fonder but that’s not true when you’re 18 and 19, young and in love.
Well, at least you were; you loved him so much it hurt. He was your first love, how could you not?
The day he left etched in your memories.
He used the front door and not the window; hint number one.
You were sat on the staircase as he cupped your face. “I can’t, I have to focus on racing. You understand, don’t you?”
You nod, knowing if you spoke, you’d cry.
You didn’t hear from him after that day; no calls, no letters, no texts. A final goodbye and he let go of your hand, walking out your life.
You did what any friend or ex-girlfriend did, you watched from the sidelines. You watched as Lewis grew into this amazingly talented and humble man, as he had always been to you, but it was nice to see others appreciating that.
He was happy and successful and you were beyond proud.
His name chanted through the streets when he won, an iconic win every time if not anything else.
Lewis’s name is written across your heart as it was to millions of other people out there but for very different reasons.
2022.
You have grown over the years, a lot has changed since he walked out of your life. You went to college, you became a nurse, you took your little brother, Marcus,  in after your parents passed.
It was Sunday today, half past 10 and the race was set to start in half an hour.
The smell of french toast and coffee filled the house as your brother dragged his feet down the stairs.
“Morning,” the boy yawns, sitting at the kitchen table.
“Morning kiddo,” you smiled at him, sliding a mug of tea over to him.
It had become a tradition; every Sunday morning, you two were up and watching the race. You had convinced yourself that you weren’t watching for Lewis, that you simply enjoyed the sport but who were you lying to?
You got into F1 because of him. Had you not been watching for him, you probably wouldn’t have never watched a race in your life.
Your brother got into it too, deeming the Brit his favourite racer. It warmed your heart to see him take such a strong liking to Lewis.
If only he knew.
He was much too young to remember the few months you and Lewis shared together. Before you were lovers, you were friends. You grew up together, you knew his parents and his siblings. Somewhere, buried deep down in a photo album, there are photos of you and Lewis as teenagers with your little brother in a baby blanket.
He’s 13 now, his 14th birthday in a few days and his one wish was to go to Silverstone and watch the race.
How could you deny him that?
You had the tickets hidden away in your bedroom, your best friend Jenny was coming with you two as well. He just didn’t know yet.
The race has started, the Canadian GP title ran as you two settled in on the couch in front of the tv. Lewis was starting 4th, Carlos, Fernando and Max in front of him in that order.
You said a quiet little prayer in your head, hoping that someone out there was listening and would keep him safe. It was a stupid thing to do, he probably didn’t even remember you but you remembered him; he was your first love.
You always held him in a special place in your heart.
The race was going well, he's steady on the tyres and the strategy seems to be working. It was a long 70 laps, Carlos was so close to his first win that he could taste it and somehow managed to slip through his fingers. Max ended up in first place along with Carlos in second and Lewis in third.
“You know how your birthday is next week?” You asked Marcus, looking over at him; your brother's birthday was June 30, just in time for the Silverstone race weekend.
He nods, eyes fixed on the tv screen. The podium was running, Ted’s notebook on next, he was always so proud to see Lewis on podium; the smile on his face like no other. You reach over and pull something out of the side table. You have to run upstairs during the race under the guise of getting your phone charger, which you did but there was another reason you had gone up.
The three tickets dropped on the coffee table in front of him. The boy looks down at the tickets and takes a moment to figure out what was in front of him. When it registers to him that those are the tickets for next week's race, he looks over at you. “What- are you serious ?” He asks, holding back a grin.
“No, obviously those are fake.” You teased, a smile on your face.
The little boy, not so little anymore, wraps his arms around you and pulls you into a hug. “Oh my god! Thank you!!” He lets go of you and picks up the tickets, reading them off. “Wait, there’s three.”
“Jenny’s coming with us.” You tell him and he smiles.
Your brother loved Jenny as much as he loved you. You and Jenny had met in college, the two of you got lost on your way to psychology class and ended up spending the afternoon in the library.
Jenny was an only child, and her parents came from money. She was way more well off than you, so when she found out that you were going to school along with raising your brother, and managing the household; she couldn't resist the urge to help you. She helped in any way she could, whether it was watching Marcus so you could do an exam or for you to pick up an extra shift at work and sometimes, she even picked up bills when she knew you couldn't.
You have always tried to pay her back but never did Jenny take a cent back  from you. It's like you've gained another sibling and Marcus loved her like he loved you.
---
Race Day; Silverstone
The three of you were walking into the track, you and Jenny watched Marcus’s face light up with excitement as you walked through. He’s all decked out, his black Mercedes hat and shirt as you head down towards the grand stands.
“Hold on,” Jenny calls for him, reaching into her purse for something. You’re both looking over at the woman, waiting to see what she pulled out. There’s a little blue envelope that she pulls out and hands over to Marcus. “Happy birthday,” she tells him, smiling.
Marcus smiles at her and he opens the envelope. He was expecting a birthday card but instead finds 3 passes for the Mercedes meet and greet. Marcus looks at her and back at the passes.
“Jenny!” He laughs, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into a hug.
She smiles, rubbing his back softly. “Go on, get in line.” She tells him, letting him run off to find the line. Both you and her are walking behind him. “Jen,” you start, looking over at her and she already knows what you were going to say.
“Y/n, don’t. He’s a good kid, it’s the least I could do.”
“It’s too much.”
“You bought my ticket, it was the least I could do. It’s his birthday gift.”
You two find Marcus in the line, the 3 of you patiently waiting to go through the line to meet the Mercedes drivers. You and Marcus go to see George first, he was kind and sweet; he signed your brother’s hat and yours, took a picture with your brother before you moved on to Lewis as Jenny moved up to meet George.
Marcus is so shocked when he’s in front of Lewis, he’s gone quiet. You give him a nudge, letting him step towards the driver on the other side of the table.
“Hi,” Lewis smiled at the boy in front of you, he glanced at you and he paused; you looked so familiar, did he know you from somewhere ? Nonetheless, he looked back at the boy, “did you want me to sign that?” He asks, nodding towards the hat in his hand.
“Yeah, please.” Marcus hands the hat over and he’s so quiet and shy, you can’t help but chuckle.
“Thank you,” you say to Lewis when he hands the hat back over to Marcus. “Marcus is one of your biggest fans, aren’t you?” You pinched your brother’s cheek and he swats your hand away, “y/n.” The boy groaned; you were embarrassing  him in front of his idol.
“Sisters,” Lewis chuckles, “they’ll always baby you. Mine is like that too.” He tells Marcus with a smile. “Thank you for the support, it means a lot to me.” He smiles, a hand resting on his chest.
Marcus thanks him once more for signing the hat and Lewis leans over and signs his top for him as well, telling him that he’ll see him around. Marcus’s face has lit up, smiling from ear to ear. “Best birthday present ever!” He says to you and you smile, your arm over his shoulders as you two walk off to the side, waiting for Jenny.
Lewis can’t help that he overheard your conversation and he can’t shake the feeling that he somehow knows you from somewhere.
You were chatting with Marcus while Lewis signed something for Jenny and you can feel him looking at you but you brush it off. Jenny came over and you three were ready to walk around for a bit more. You glance over your shoulder once more before you walk off and your eyes meet his; Lewis flashes you a smile, the same smile that used to make your heart skip a beat.
The three of you end up wandering around for a bit, about to head towards the grandstand when a woman comes running after you three, shouting for you to stop. Her pristine white shirt catches your eye, as does the little Mercedes emblem stitched onto it.
“Are you one of you Marcus ?” She asks and your brother’s brows furrow, slightly confused. “I am,” he says, sticking to your side.
“Oh good, I found the right one.” The woman lets out a breath, smiling. “Here, for you.” She hands over 3 passes to you guys.
Marcus reads the badges; passes for the paddock, the back says guests of L. Hamilton.
“Wait, what?” He asks, handing one to Jenny and the other to you.
“They’re from Lewis,” the lady clarifies. “He said he wanted you three there.”
Before you could ask the woman a question, Jenny and Marcus are following her like lost puppies towards the Mercedes garage. Your stomach is doing flips as you jog to catch up with them; god, you really hoped he didn’t remember you. Today was about Marcus, not Lewis trying to dig up ancient feelings, ones you pushed away a long time ago.
Once you get to the garage, she shows you around for a little before telling you to help yourself to anything and set in before the race. You were watching as Marcus and Jenny poked around, you sat in your seat and waited for the countdown to the race to begin.
You always felt nervous before the race start; the man you love -- loved, was about to get in a car and drive at ridiculous speeds; it’s human nature to worry.
But you’d never felt it like that before. You felt like you were going to be sick when they sat next to you, talking about how the mechanics were telling them how fast those cars can really go.
The numbers kept going higher and higher, as did your urge to throw up this morning’s breakfast.
That’s when you see him; race suit hanging off his hips, black fireproofs clinging to his fit body, Angela running behind him. “Hi,” he stops in front of you guys and you barely look up.
Marcus looks like he was going to freak out but he says hi nonetheless.
Jenny is the only sane one currently.
“Thank you for the passes,” Jenny says, Marcus nodding.
Lewis waves them off, “it was nothing. I overheard you talking to your sister.” His eyes find you, you can feel his gaze burning into you and you finally glance up at the man. “You said it was the best birthday present, figured I'd give you the full experience.”
“I hope we didn’t put you out.” You finally say and he shakes his head, smiling.
“It was no problem at all. I had extra.”
Angela tells him that he’d needed on the grid in two minutes and he says his goodbyes. Marcus wishes him good luck and Lewis thanks him and promises to be back after the race to chat some more. He heads towards the front of the garage but not without looking back at you once more, your eyes catching his and you look away.
“Why does he keep looking at you like that?” Jenny asks you and you look at her confused. “What? Who?”
“What’d you mean who?” Jenny rolls her eyes. “Lewis, duh. Seems like he likes you,” she wiggles her eyebrows. “What a man, you’d be so lucky.”
“Oh like he wouldn't be lucky too.” You joked, earning a laugh from her.
The race went well, Carlos took his first win which was an amazing thing to see and Checo was P2 with Lewis in P3. George unfortunately was not aloud to restart the race after stopping to help Zhou but he stopped for a good reason, it was nonsense and unfair that he didn’t get to, but rules are rules you suppose; even if they are stupid.
Lewis had to get to press but when he returned, he found the three of you again and ended up talking to you; by you, I mean Jenny and Marcus for a good while. You smiled and nodded along, you didn’t have much to say, you didn’t know what to say.
What were you supposed to say? Hey remember me? The girl you ditched when you started F1?
Yeah, I think not.
Lewis gets Marcus one of his Mercedes team shirts, two actually; a black and a white, “for variety” he told the boy. He signs one of them and takes a few pictures with you guys.
“Oh y/n, don’t you want to get in?” Jenny asks after you take the picture of her, Lewis and Marcus.
“It’s alright,” you smile, “I'm sure Lewis has places to be.”
The man smiles, “not really, come on.” He nods towards Marcus, calling you over. Once again, your stomach is doing flips as you hand the phone to Jenny and stand on the other side of Lewis, the driver between you and Marcus.
His hand rests on your back and the spot feels like it’s on fire. It’s the first time he’s touched you in years and still, you felt the same way; like you were 18 and in love again.
It was getting late and all of you really needed to go. Traffic was surely going to be a madhouse to get out of there and you still needed to do dinner for Marcus. You all thanked him for his kindness today, his eyes lingering on you as you said your goodbyes. You can hear Angela telling him they’re doing a debrief which gives you a sense of relief; you can leave without the fear of him tracking you down and asking if he knew you from somewhere.
How would you explain that to Marcus and Jenny? Oh yeah, no biggie but I dated seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton when I was in high school.
Marcus was exhausted by the time you three got back to your place and frankly so were you. You opted out of a fancy dinner, ordering takeout and Marcus says you can do dinner at a restaurant another day.
Dinner was eaten on the couch, watching the reruns of Ted’s Notebook whilst you three chatted about the day. You were in the kitchen, sticking candles into Marcus’s birthday cake, 14 to be exact when the doorbell rang.
“I'll get it!” Jenny shouts, walking towards the door.
You hear the door open and it's quiet, so you venture off to see who’s at the door. The kitchen towel swung over your shoulder and you brushed the frosting off your fingers as you walked over, “Jen, who’s at the -”
You stopped like deer in headlights.
Jenny takes a step back, still in the entryway but you and Lewis are face to face. “What're you doing here?” You ask.
“So it is you. I thought I had been losing my mind all day.”
“Why are you here, Lewis?” You pass a hand through your hair, nervously shifting from one foot to the other. “How'd you even find me?”
“You haven’t moved, y/n.” He glances around, “lived in the same house your whole life.”
“Yeah, not all of us are well off like you are.”
The words come flying out before you could stop yourself. You see the look on his face; you knew how he grew up, what his parents did to keep him in karting, what he faced before he even got a chance.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that.”
“No,” he says, “it’s fine.”
“I don’t have time to chat, the cake will melt.”
“So invite me in.” He says it as if it’s the most normal thing in the world.
“Lewis-” You get cut off by Marcus saying the same thing, the boy coming down from his bedroom. You couldn’t say no now, Marcus has already seen him. You step aside, letting Lewis come in and Jenny has walked ahead to pull Marcus into the living room and you’re absolutely sure they were forming their own theories as to why he was there.
He looks around as he walks in, admiring the pictures on the wall. “You kept it up.” He smiles, a photo he had taken of you sitting on a bench in the park, a bright yellow dress on. “It was my mum’s favourite.” You tell him.
“Was?” He says quietly, looking over at you. “Yeah,” you breathe, “she and dad passed in an accident when Marcus was 4.”
“Oh. Y/n, I didn’t know. I'm so sorry.”
“It’s okay, life happens.” You shrug, walking off to get the cake from the kitchen.  Lewis follows you, “wow nothing’s changed.” He looks around.
“Don’t have the time to change it,” you tell him, stepping past him towards the living room. Marcus was sitting on the couch when you and Lewis walked in, you set the cake on the coffee table and Jenny lit the candles, the three of you singing him happy birthday, counting to 14 before he blew out his candles.
“I’ll get plates, hold on.” You get up, walking off to the kitchen.
Marcus exchanges a glance with Jenny and that’s when Marcus turns to Lewis. “How do you know my sister?” He asks the driver and Lewis looks confused.
“Y/n never told you?”
“Told me what?”
“We dated when we were in high school.”
Marcus’s mouth forms an O, excusing himself and rushing off to the kitchen. “YOU DATED LEWIS ?!” Marcus shouts and you turn to face the boy, “what?”
“Lewis said you guys dated, how come you never told me?”
“Lewis told you that ?” Your arms folded across your chest and you see the accused peeking into the kitchen, “hi,” he says quietly and you give Marcus a look, one he knows too well; time for him to go.
Lewis replaces Marcus in the kitchen and you two are standing across from each other. “Why would you tell him that? Honestly, why are you even here?” You ask him.
You’re also 100% sure that Jenny and Marcus were eavesdropping but that's the least of your concerns.
“I’m not sorry for coming back, if that’s what you’re asking me.” He says, leaning on the wall.
“It’s not what I'm asking.” You say, gathering the plates to take to the living room. As you go to step out, Lewis blocks the doorway. “Move.” You go to step past him and he doesn’t move.
“Y/n, please. I remember, you know.” His eyes meet yours and everything in you wants to believe that. “I promised you I’d come back, we’d get married, 3 kids and a dog, big house on the hill.” He sighs, his gaze burning a hole into you. “I'm sorry for not coming back.”
“You don’t have to apologize, we're both grown. We have our own lives, I didn’t expect you to come back.”
Lewis sighs, his hand resting on yours. “I wanted to. I love you, y/n, I always have. I just- my focus shifted, but it doesn’t mean I forgot about you. I got caught up in my career but I never stopped loving you. No one ever came close to you.”
“I don’t need an apology, Lewis.”
“I love you, y/n. It’s always been you. Can’t we at least try?”
Your heart is telling you yes, run back to him; Lewis was the love of your life and just like he had said, you had never found anyone that compared to him.
No one came close to him.
Logically, you should say no. Tell him to leave and wish him well. You couldn't put yourself through that again.
“Okay.” You say, nodding. “We can try.”
“Okay,” he smiles. “That’s all I wanted.”
----
5 years later.
“Is everything ready?” You called from the kitchen, Marcus and Jenny hanging the banner the girls made on the wall.
“Should be ready now!” Your brother called back.
You and Lewis ended up working things out, he went on to win another championship, putting him at a world record of 8 championships and you were all beyond proud.
Later that same year, you found out you were pregnant. Twins the first go around; Stella and Victoria. The two girls are four now and they are everything like their father.
You moved while you were pregnant, a big house on a hill. It wasn't too far from where you two had grown up. Lots of yard space for the kids to play and for Roscoe to run around.
Marcus was living with the four of you even though he was 19 now; he will always be your first baby.
Speaking of babies, your little man was active, jabbing you in the side with his foot. You were due soon, this one makes 3. A little boy this time.
“Stel! Vic! Daddy’s going to be home soon! Come in!” You shout to the girls in the backyard when you hear the door open. You can hear Jenny and Marcus talking to your husband and the girls come running in.
“Daddy!” They shout at the same time, the man dropping to his knees to hug his girls.
“Hi babies! I missed you two soooo much.” He says, kissing them on the cheek.
Roscoe was nudging Lewis’s leg with his head and Lewis pats the dog’s side, cuddling with him for a moment. You come walking into the entryway, your hand resting on your bump and Lewis smiles when he sees you. The diamond ring on your finger catches his eye.
“Mrs. Hamilton,” he says, getting up to give you a kiss.
“How was the flight?” You ask him, your hand on his jaw when he leans down to kiss your bump. The girls have run off with Jenny, Marcus and Roscoe. “It was fine,” he says, standing behind you now.
You lean back onto your husband, his hands on either side of your bump, your hand coming down to rest on his. “Welcome home baby.” You whisper to him.
He smiles, kissing your cheek. “Thank you, darling.”

This is such a wonderful exploration of the concept of the Tombtakers as reoccurring enemies and Molly still with the party that is wonderfully IC, extremely detailed, and a lot of fun. It's going to be a long one and it's ongoing, so buckle in.

Who was in charge of marketing for Harry Potter?
(This isn't about She Who Must Not Be Named or her bigotry. This is purely about the business of bookselling.)
If you were a YA reader at the time, or you're into fandom history, you might know the story: July 16, 2005, in the wee hours of the morning a car pulls up to a bunch of teens and children standing outside a bookstore, and some jackass shouts at the top of their lungs: "Snape kills Dumbledore!" and then speeds away.
That story was infamous. THE biggest plot twist of THE biggest book series in the world, spoiled before anyone could even crack the pages.
Which is... actually kinda weird, right? How'd they know?
Had they read an advance copy? Did they stand in line since like 4 PM to get their hands on the book, and then the second they got their hands on it just frantically start skimming the last hundred pages or so until they found a particularly devastating bomb to drop? (Trolls being trolls, this was not considered particularly extreme behavior).
Or were they paid to do it?
This is adult me with conspiracy goggles on, but consider: The message that was sent is not that a character killed another character, but that no matter how hard you try to avoid spoiling your favorite story, some bad-faith actor is going to jump out of the bushes and do it anyway. There's no time to wait for your library's copy to be available, no time for your friend or your sibling to finish and hand it to you-- you have to buy your own copy right the fuck now.
And everybody and their sibling (literally, people were buying multiple copies per family) around the world buying the same book in the space of the same two weeks? That is how a book guarantees a spot on every international best seller list for a long ass time.
The thing is, whether this was a deliberate move or an amazingly convenient and lucrative bit of trolling does not matter. Regardless of the source, the marketing department pounced on an opportunity. Every brick-and-mortar bookstore left had piles of bookmarks and buttons, posters plastered on the windows, dividing readers into one of two teams: either "Trust Snape" or "Snape is a Bad Man". People wearing those pins sparked conversation and debate in real life, to say nothing of what was going on in the forums. Essays and treatises and manifestos were written. Books were published-- both officially licensed materials and unofficial ones full of theories and details.
When that next and final release was coming out, you bet your ass everybody on the planet was going to be there (or risk another drive-by spoiler). When the next movie was released that November, it didn't matter that what had come before was kinda iffy in quality-- people were showing up in costume.
Even before The Drive By Spoilering, the marketing team was honestly the stuff of legend. Gorgeous hand-illustrated covers and chapter header artwork, branded title fonts that could be recognized from a mile away in the dark, big fancy displays present in every single school book fair, and then that website-- the official website was a thing of absolute beauty, especially in that time. It was colorful and had a million moving parts and secrets to uncover, it was updated frequently and with a lot of little secret extra tidbits on the character and world, and oodles of essays from the author herself that were often very endearing to the readership. It was a gathering place for fans as much as the fan-run websites.
(I should point out that with marketing this robust, I have no doubt in my mind that all those tidbits and essays were themselves run past the team for approval, to make sure nothing particularly egregious slipped through the cracks. But that kind of editing isn't cheap, and I suspect it would only really have been employed during the Important Years for the franchise.)
I remember wanting to be a writer as a teenager, embarking on that career as I got out into the world and started querying books I'd written, and for every single one of us in the writing community, that kind of marketing was the dream. The midnight releases in full costume, the gorgeous custom covers, the posters in every library and bookstore, the breathtaking website. But all of those things turn out to be heinously expensive, and for every franchise that returns on that investment, there were dozens, perhaps hundreds, who didn't make back enough, or cover their expenses at all. And that's where you get to the point where querying authors were advised to establish massive followings on social media in order to demonstrate that they were a safe bet, that half the work was already done if the publishers would just give us a chance-- and sure, for some of them that effort did get them publishing contracts. At which point, even if the publishers felt inclined to spend more than a pittance on promoting new authors' work, there wasn't any point in doing so to the degree that the Harry Potter books received. There's little room to stand out in a saturated market; a flash in the pan is only impressive if the pan isn't already on fire.
These days there's little hope of any one new author rising to that kind of fame, though with self-promotion and self-advocacy, a lot more diverse authors are starting to carve out places for themselves. But marketing yourself is exhausting, and it's expensive, and it makes you vulnerable to all sorts of stupid blunders and career-ending missteps.
I'd rather stay indie. But I wouldn't say no to that marketing team.

i. just rewatched the fourteenth target and holy hell. remember the good ol days when dc movies are actually good? but also. shin'ichi's card is the ace of spades?? a card commonly associated with death and either good or bad luck in some cultures??? but it can also symbolize power and change and new beginnings? and one of the highest and most valued card in the deck?? and just how well all of those just fits w his character?? death/bad luck- as in his close call w the aptx (and the shinigami allegations lmao cant forget that. kid's a murder magnet it's canon) change/new beginnings- his new life as edogawa conan? his character development- yk what the poem's already spelled out for us. this is probably jsut a coincidence but still. poetic cinema 4 the win!!
Dude. Yes.
I also am a slut for symbolism and all of that, and let me tell you. The shark thing as well as the ace of spades thing are two of my most favorite symbols for Shinichi. It's just great isn't it?
Like, you explained it amazingly, so I won't repeat. But it really shows the character. I like that kaito is more or less canonically the ace of clubs too, which represents good luck, abundance... I believe it fits him a lot too. And I guess some would argue that Hakuba and Heiji could be the aces of diamonds and hearts respectively. Which just ties it all in so nicely hahahahaha
I LOVE these little details. Such nice cool stuff to think about and consider!

“Where, exactly, are we going, ‘Nardo?” Dee asked, as his twin led him through some of the tunnels outside of the lair.
“You wanted to find Mikey, right?”
“You could have just told me he went out,” Dee rubbed his arm, uncomfortable “I would have waited until he got back.”
Leon waved his hand dismissively “Ah, he doesn’t go far, whenever he goes outside the lair. Not alone, anyway; I know exactly where he’s gone.”
“And that would be…?”
“His purple den, of course.”
“His purple de- what?”
Leon grinned over his shoulder “Mikey’s purple den; it’s where he painted the walls of the sewer over the years, in dedication to you.”
“Wha- to me?!”
“You’ll see when we get there,” Leon reached back to grab Dee’s wrist “We’re almost there! I can hear his spray cans!”
Sure enough, a few twists and turns later, Leon was leading Dee into a section of the sewers that was colored in various shades of purple.
Oh, there were other colors, too, but the dominate color of the entire area was purple.
“Whoa,” Dee walked forward, looking this way and that, trying to take in all the details.
And, wow, there were a lot of details.
He saw a couple of iconic scenes from the movies his brothers had been showing him and there were some childish finger paints near the lower part of the walls; all stick figure turtles, with what is clearly Dee in the center.
There were random facts about softshell turtles carefully stenciled around stylized pictures of the same turtles.
Even the floor wasn’t spared, with galaxies and planets spreading out beneath his feet.
Random constellations, both real and not, shared space with various known and obscure equations, all in fluorescent paints, almost glowing.
“Mikey did all this?” Dee looked around, trying to find said turtle “It’s…”
“Pretty cool, huh?” Leon threw his arm around Dee, walking him further into the tunnel “Our little brother has become quite the talented artist over the years, thanks to you.”
“I…think I’ve seen some of this, before.”
Leon paused, the sound of paint cans being shaken echoing against the walls “Oh?”
“I…” Dee put a hand to his head “yeah, when I first appeared; it’s faint, but I remember seeing a lot of purple, before suddenly being in the lair with you guys.”
Leon was silent for a moment, before Dee pulled away, continuing on to where Mikey was “Nevermind, don’t worry about it; thanks for the help, ‘Nardo.”
Dee had an amazingly talented brother to find and apologize to.
---
What does Dee have to apologize for? I have no idea, that's where my mind blanked and I decided to end it here.
aww this is so great! Dee seeing the giant mural his brother painted for him for first time gives me feels lol. <3
Thank you!

ok so. wax. wax is a nightmare, but it's sort of ridiculously fun too. I ended up trying a total of five times to cast plasticine in wax since I had it and I wanted to see if any configuration would work - I would not suggest doing this asdkfhlkfdjsf
the sixth attempt became the mould for the two most recent masks after I just took the blob of sullied wax and carved directly into it in a fit of desperation, then papier mache'd directly onto the positive model. negative moulds are superior for retaining detail and I had to often carve back into the wet papier mache to get any of the wrinkles, which wasted a lot of time, but it did work.
the second time I got carried away with decorating it before removing it from the mould because I realised it'd be easier to just do it like that - I also wanted to see if I could push the gold string into the wet papier mache to make it stick better, kinda worked? not amazingly well though. but yeah, the wax just got stuck in there completely. and since I was making it specifically to show to someone the next day I ended up just breaking the mould to crumbly smithereens in my rush to remove it
the firmness of wax makes it kind of nice for fine details in a way that plasticine isn't, but it depends. I mentioned wanting to make paper brooches, and I think for small lettering for instance, doing a wax positive is nicer - it also melts out of plaster, which I remember doing in highschool, and it's much easier than picking plasticine out of the little crevices afterwards
plaster still seems to be the best so far for doing negative moulds, despite the fact it can't be reused if you screw it up and isn't as common as something like paper or wax. I might have to research more substitutes. I don't want to touch resin, I already get too many of the substances I use on myself - I don't mix well with hazards like that...
maybe want to like. have a little visual of the steps it takes to make a mask and what alterations to the method I've attempted...

next door VIII - a Pierre Gasly series
Tumblr media
on race weekends I am getting more inspiration to write - unfortunately Pierre didn’t had the best weekend, again.. 💔
pairing: Pierre Gasly x fem!reader
warnings: smut (male receiving), little angsts, mentioning of death and loss, language
word count: 2.2k
————————————————————————
After dinner, you two snuggled up on Pierre's sofa with your wine glasses. Your legs again across his lap, his arm around your shoulder. Like usual you chatted animatedly. You two never seem to run out of topics to talk about.
Pierre couldn't take his eyes off you. He smiles dreamily at you, as you talk in more detail about your dream vacation, that you will soon treat yourself with if the orders and deals keep coming in like that. Your enthusiasm was truly contagious and soon Pierre is telling you about his favorite vacation spots and a passionate discussion about previous vacations ensues. You both agree in the end, that Tulum is probably the best vacation spot ever.
You both toast to that with your wine glasses. It was amazing to Pierre how uncomplicated and natural it was between you. He had never felt this way about a woman before so quick. He wanted to give himself to you completely, not only the beautiful but also the dark sides.
Pierre sat up straight and cleared his throat. His expression changed to a more serious face. You immediately noticed the change in his mood, "What's wrong?" you ask a little worried, stroking his cheek.
He reaches for your hand and brings it to his mouth. Tenderly he kisses the back of your hand and knuckles. Once again he takes a deep breath and then looks at you piercingly.
"Pierre, you're scaring me..."
"Ma belle, I want to talk to you about something. I just hope I don't offend you or hurt you..."
You couldn't follow him anymore and you felt a little uncomfortable. What did he want to discuss with you that could have offended or even hurt you? Your body tensed.
"When I was waiting for Pyry in your apartment this morning, I looked around a bit and saw the photos."
You felt a kind of relief at the same time, but also an uneasiness.
"There's this picture of this young woman.."
"Her name was Nadine." you interrupted him. Tears welled up in your eyes, quickly you wipe them out of the corner of your eyes with your fingers. Pierre immediately regretted bringing up the subject, "I'm sorry...I...I wish I hadn't said anything.".
"It's okay. I just remembered that I haven't talked about her in a long time and I feel really guilty about it."
Pierre nods in understanding and brushes a streak of hair behind your ear. He actually had that feeling inside him quite often, too. He thought about Anthoine almost every day, but he never talked about him. To be honest, he didn't know with whom he should do that. He didn't wanted to be a burden to anyone or give the impression of still being too deep in the past.
"Do you want to talk about her now?" Pierre asks cautiously. You take a deep breath and then nod timidly.
You start with how you and her met, what she meant to you, how she captivated many people with her fascinating and loving nature, how intense your friendship was especially in the last year and in the days before the fatal car accident, as if you were supposed to fully savor and enjoy the last moments together.
"The day of the accident felt like an eternity - as if it would never pass by, so unreal and wrong. The days after that, all the way to the funeral, went by in a flash."
Pierre felt every single word you said. He completely pulled himself together for you.
"It took me years to understand that she wasn't coming back and how to deal with it from now on. Since then, a lot has changed with me or with my other girlfriends, especially in terms of mindset."
You felt amazingly well after that talk. Every now and then, tears ran down your cheeks and it had a bit of a feeling as of ripping off a band-aid. But you weren't angry with Pierre, on the contrary, you liked how attentive and careful he was regarding this subject.
Pierre, on the other hand, still seemed a little tense and was kneading his fingers.
„Pierre?" you asked concerned.
"I know all too well how you feel..." misty-eyed he looked at you and then he told you his story.
It was a lot. Far too much for such a young human to bear in one lifetime. You listened carefully as he told you about his friend Anthoine. You laughed with him, about the beautiful and funny experiences he had with Anthoine - you cried with Pierre when he told you about that weekend in Spa.
It turned out that the days of your friends' deaths were only one week apart.
Pierre had already experienced a lot of suffering in his young life, besides the death of Anthoine, the reset of RedBull on the same weekend, the death of his other friend Val, up to the car accident in which his mother got seriously injured. And nonetheless, he kept going. He was not just physically, but also mentally a very strong person. That was truly admirable to you.
You took Pierre into very tight embrace. Even though there were definitely more beautiful things that you two had in common, you were grateful to him that he had told you about his fears and losses in a relatively early state of your relationship. You got a whole new image of him again and saw how vulnerable he actually is underneath a hard shell and the supposed fuckboy image.
Pierre enjoyed your touch so much. His hands gently stroked up and down your back. He was also feeling much better by now, kind of relieved.
"Thank you for being so open with me." you thank him, after you had sat back down in your former position.
"I have to thank you." replied Pierre, leaning in to kiss you. You reach out to him and take his face in your hands. What was still a very tentative kiss at the beginning, quickly developed into an extremely passionate one.
To feel Pierre even more intensely, you sit down on his lap, straddling him. With a mischievous smile, Pierre grins into the next kiss. His hands already linger on your butt. Each of his touches made you become bolder and slowly you start to move your hips. Every second you feel the bulge in Pierre's pants grow and pressing against your clothed core. You start to grind him harder, making the friction even more intense. Pierre can't help but moan ever so slightly. God, how you loved to hear this man moan because of your actions.
Your hands had by now settled on his shoulders and wandered over his torso until they arrived at the hem of his shirt. You run both hands under the fabric and make him take it off.
Only too gladly he complied with your wordless request and slipped the shirt over his head. The sight of his naked upper body now made you groan. Immediately you had to touch his chest muscles, which were tense due to his arousal. Greedily you pressed your lips on his again.
Pierre now briskly pulled your blouse out of your pants and tore open the button bar. Shocked and excited at the same time, you opened your mouth and moaned loudly. Pierre takes this chance to enter your mouth with his tongue. Normally you would let him have the upper hand, but you felt like challenging him today.
Pierre liked the game. Your dominant side came out more and more and this was refreshing for him as well. However, he did not want to give in without a fight and played along. Without further ado, you shake your ripped silk blouse off your arms and put both hands around his neck.
Pierre's hands, on the other hand, caress your naked sides and tamper with the clasp of your bra. Before he could open it, you reach into his hair and pulled his head back.
Wide-eyed and out of breath, he looked at you expectantly.
"I owe you one..." you whisper in his ear after leaning in to him. You place your lips immediately on his earlobe, tugging on it lightly with your teeth and then kiss along his neck to his collarbone. You felt the metal of his necklace that had taken his body temperature. Your tongue ran along the thin chain to the cross pendant. Without hesitation you took it into your mouth.
Pierre seemed to almost explode in his jeans. That you had to look at him so naughtily with his cross necklace in your mouth, which you presented to him teasingly between your teeth and on top of that, you were wearing this seductive bra, which simply put your breasts perfectly on display. It was just too much for him.
"Fuck, Y/N!" he moaned, and by now the fabric of his jeans was constricting him painfully. His look of pain and pleasure was pure satisfaction for you. It was time to redeem him.
You let the cross pendant slip out of your mouth and gave Pierre a tender kiss on his swollen lips. Skillfully your hands loosened his belt and with a few more moves the button and zipper were also opened.
Pierre became more impatient, his hands nervously stroking up and down your thighs.
You stood up and knelt down in front of him. Your hands moved over his knees up over his taut thighs to the waistband of his jeans.
Pierre's legs began to tremble under your touch. He could hardly wait for a release and begged you, "Ma belle, please.... I...".
No more words needed, you grabbed the waistband of his jeans and boxers. Pierre lifts his butt so that you could pull both down in one go. A liberating moan leaves Pierre's lips and he let his head fall into his neck. However, he could not take a breath. Immediately he felt your hands around his hard cock. He needed to look at you - your eyes met immediately. His breathing was fast and fierce and only got faster as you put your soft and perfect lips around his cock and started blowing him without foreplay.
Your head booped rhythmically up and down and you took his cock so deep into your mouth without even gagging. Pierre was on cloud nine - he wanted to close his eyes and enjoy the blowjob to the fullest, but on the other hand he also wanted to watch you doing it, because it was just so damn sexy how you kept looking up at him through your eyelashes.
He would never get that image out of his head. With pleasure he bit his lower lip, as you now also massaged his balls with one hand.
„Merde!“ he hissed through his teeth. He couldn’t deny that you were pretty skilled, you exactly knew what you were doing.
Seeing Pierre in this state of arousal, was everything you needed right now. To you he had the perfect penis. The right size and girth, veiny - just perfect for sucking.
You felt how his dick twitched in your mouth, an indication that he wouldn’t take much longer.
Pierre was in full ecstasy and really trying to drag out the moment to the extreme. His hands were buried in his sofa cushions, his upper body was rising and falling more and more violently and his moans were getting louder. Again and again your tongue circled his now very sensitive tip and drove Pierre into madness, "Y/N, I can't hold it anymore".
This was your sign to take him full in your mouth again and only a few seconds later you feel him shooting his seed into your mouth and running down your throat. You literally suck him dry and a little exhausted you sit back on your knees. In front of you is a divine picture: Pierre completely out of breath and panting, his head resting on the back of the sofa, his eyes closed, his previously tense muscles visibly relaxing and his legs still spread.
"You seem to like what you see..." smirks Pierre, opening one eye just briefly to look at you.
You nod and smile, "A picture for the gods!".
After a few minutes you pull yourself together and pick up your blouse from the floor, "You owe me a new one by the way! That was totally unnecessary...".
You throw the blouse to Pierre, who catches it expertly and can only grin again, "Well, I liked it.".
You shake your head and take Pierre's shirt and put it on. After that, you grab the wine glasses and start cleaning up.
"What are you doing?" asks Pierre as he puts his boxers and pants back on.
"What does it look like?" you ask the counter question and set the glasses down on the kitchen sideboard.
"You're my guest. You don't need to clean up..."
"Many hands make light work." you say dryly and open the dishwasher, "I'm going to head over soon, I have to get up early again tomorrow."
"You're not staying overnight?"
Pierre sounded surprised, he had fully expected you to sleep over tonight.
"I don't know, Pierre. You and I really need to catch up on some more sleep..."
"I'll behave. I promise!"
With puppy eyes, he looked at you pleadingly and pulled a pout. How could you say no to that?

Alright I just finished Chapter 1 of Rejuvenation 13.5 and I have many thoughts I want to ramble about.
I want to note that I have done 100% playthrough of version 13.0 a few months after it had initially released, so although my memory is a bit rusty, I will be talking a bit about some of the changes between the versions (i want to note that they're all positive imo)
Also should note that be wary of spoilers for new content for 13.5 as well as spoilers for story stuff since I want to talk about how good the writing in this game is. I've taken a lot of screenshots and will be adding them when i think they fit in my little rambles and stuff.
Without further ado my ramblings are under the read more!
To start things off I wanna just gloss over the beginning scene with Maria and the prologue on the SS Oceana. From what I can remember nothing really changed between those two sections but honestly I think they are as close to perfect if not as perfect as they can be. They give just the right amount of information to set up some of the first main mysteries and plot threads, and I think they do amazingly at setting the tone for the game.
Next I want to talk about how East Gearen has changed, having made some small adjustments to the city to help make traveling through it all the more easier. I'm happy that the changes were minimal enough that walking through the city I still knew where everything was, so everything felt familiar but it had been different enough where seeing everything game me the same sort of wonder and comfort that it had in my first playthroughs.
Tumblr media
I think the biggest changes being to the designs for the Gearen lab and the Gearen Help Center (I haven't made it to Sheridan yet so I'm not sure if all of the help centers have been changed to be the same sort of layout, or if they all have a unique sort of look to them). The only change I'm not the biggest fan of is the starters all being lined up in rows as shown above. It definitely makes choosing the starter easier since they're all in one space, but having them all in their own little enclosures had this quaint sort of feeling to it. Still I do think that it was a good change overall, it just doesn't pander to me specifically.
Tumblr media
Next change that I want to point out is the ability to take on quests right when you see the npc and not needing to go to the help center. Overall I think everything about quests has been changed to be much easier and more streamlined. The little quest notification does a lot in making finding the details for quests and even just finding quests a lot easier. Overall I'm a big fan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also adore the additions of finding some relevant story npcs out in the world outside of big story events and areas. It just adds so much to the world and helps make the world feel more alive, like its really worth saving. Whether its just small dialogue that doesn't impact anything, a conversation that can build up on your relationships with characters, or even having a quick battle, I love these small changes.
Tumblr media
Next on the list is the completely new content, with the most notable being Mr. Luck's tent. I'm gonna be honest I am a big fan of him, I love this character archetype of just these mischievous tricksters (probably a more common term for this trope but. y'know the sort of characters I'm probably thinking of) Honestly the whole quest introducing Prism Pokemon was very fun! Melia also explains them later on during the Goldenwood Forest section with the fight with the Prism Nidorino, but I think being able to learn about it early through the quest is fun. Also I am just a huge fan of the contracts and items you can trade in. I'm gonna save a bit though for some of the more expensive items though, at least for now. If I can find a way to grind for the Black Prisms easily I'll probably grind for that ??? contract, but I have no idea what it could be (also 999 is a lot,,,).
Tumblr media
Next up I want to talk about the update to Venam's gym! It definitely feels a lot more her than the last one, but I do think there was a bit of charm to the idea that she didn't really get a say in what her gym was like, to the point she made a gym grave yard to help preserve those old gyms. The factory is still there and I'm gonna be honest I kinda just walked there first when it was time to challenge Venam and I was very confused-- Not complaining just a silly thing I thought I'd mention.
Tumblr media
Next I want to talk about the Zygarde quest. I think introducing it during the main story instead of pushing it to the side in the help center was a smart move, but I did not realize who Ayuda was at first when I saw him in Venam's gym. I'm gonna be honest though, I don't see myself going out of my way to work on completing the Zygarde quest this playthrough, mostly just cause I'm not the biggest Zygarde fan, but also its just very tedious to look for all of them.
Next I wanna talk about the Goldenwood Forest Section and I just. Wow I think how it was reworked was phenomenal. First I absolutely ADORE how instead of having it be a cutscene you can help out everyone in Goldenwood made the trip feel a lot more impactful. I adored that original cutscene but honestly I think having a few quick quests to help everyone in the area made what was once gonna be one of the best days ever into the worst day ever feel a lot more... real if that makes sense, telling a story through gameplay and not just cutscenes, something Rejuvenation never had a problem with, but I'm glad they made the change here.
Tumblr media
Also the fishing quest. Oh my goodness the fishing quest. The mechanical Lairon encounter hinting towards the future mechanical Pokemon you have to fight later on even more intense cause like. This rusty old one can give you trouble if you're not prepared for it, and and the fully functional mechanical Pokemon found later on in the game can be pretty rough, especially since there are so many of them in some sections like in the pearl route of chapter 15. That said there was something really funny to me about the idea of this fisherman having the hardest time trying to get a Magikarp haha.
Tumblr media
Next I love the information Melia gives about the mural, how she talks about how the squares couldn't be buildings, since the Garufans hadn't been very technologically advanced. Honestly there being so many differing interpretations for the Garufans and how they handled things is so cool to me, cause I feel like its just like how people who research ancient civilizations are in real life, especially when there isn't a lot of information available. This might be partly because I have this stuff on my mind because I am taking a World Civilizations class rn for my college classes. Karen talking about in the Missing Starly quest that the Garufa were a nomadic tribe that harvested the powers from Pokemon's souls to be able to cast magic. Then in the Hidden Library quest we learn that they hated Pokemon, seeing them as vile pests. Even the idea that their technology was undeveloped is something that gets disproved later on in the story. I just find it fascinating that nobody can seem to agree on what the Garufa were like. I may be pulling at straws here though I just think its cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is the whole redesign for the Silent Grove. First I think the name itself is new but tbh I may just be forgetting and I don't feel like looking up an old playthrough to check (tbh thats just me being lazy tho). I personally was a big fan of the grove being a small secluded area, but I think the big castle builds on the lore that was first established in the Goomy Kingdom quest, that being what the world was like all the way back before the calamity decades ago, and showing that there where even more castles. Also it just makes more sense that this would lead to the secret Garufa settlement that we explore in the Pearl Route for Chapter 15. Also I love the new statue design being based on the Ranger sprite for Arceus.
Tumblr media
Lastly I just wanted to say I think the battle with Zetta being changed to take place in a crater instead of the lake front just makes sense. It didn't make sense to me that the park had been closed off for so long after the Rift Gyrados was dealt with. I know it's because the Gyrados wasn't completely gotten rid of, but before it was just overgrown, but still manageable. This level of damage I could see needing to have a full quest line repairing.
Anyways that's it for my thoughts on Chapter 1 and the Prologue for version 13.5 of Rejuvenation. Hope you enjoyed my rambles and thank you again for reading all of them :D

Jisoo
Tumblr media
Love: I didn’t see anything concerning Jisoo’s romantic life, so I have no idea if she is in a relationship or not or how things are going with her heart at the moment. All I know is that she is having a little more trouble concerning her family situation, but I won’t be detailing anything.
Career: When it comes to projects, things are moving forward and there’s something she kept a secret that she will soon reveal. Probably after the tour. Business and career are overall going very well for her and it’s a relief. I also see her traveling somewhere more quiet
Health:
Physical: X
Emotional: she honestly has not the best mental health and I am slightly worried for her. She is fighting a lot with her inner thoughts, she has a lot of insomnia, stress and anxiety, I feel like she cries a lot and that she is stuck in her past that isn’t resolved.
Dates: 18 days and 25 November.
Jennie
Tumblr media
Love: Jennie’s love life Is a whole mess at the moment. I definitely believe that she might have had a fling with someone else and that her partner discovered about it and things are extremely shaky. They are still together however because they have a dependence between one another, however this mistake she made is costing her a lot, because her partner is making her life a little judgmental hell
Career: Everything is going so well with her career, she is getting a lot of money. She knows how to make things right, she is prioritizing her career over everything. She knows she was born to be under the spotlight and she is taking the opportunities that come her way. I see something new for her as well, maybe something she haven’t tried yet.

Career: Like the rest of the girls, her career is going amazingly well, I see a lot of money getting to her a lot of people wanting to privately work with her. Despite arguments with her teammates and staff/company and her own inner turmoils she is ready to take the letter into her own hands and accept the benedictions of her working field
Health:
Physical: Won’t be disclosing anything

I just came to an epiphany about something minor in THH I didn’t understand at first.
During the chapter 3 investigation when everyone is in the pool discovering Yasuhiro in the Robo Justice suit, if you check the map at this time, you can see Genocide Jack and Sakura are in the repository with the two bodies alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This really surprised me as Genocide Jack doesn’t hang out in that room during a majority of the investigation. She’s in the equipment room. There’s also no mention of her going to the repository while everyone is in the pool, you can’t leave the pool to go to the repository because its mandatory to talk about Yasuhiro in the costume and even after you are done with the scene at the pool and you are free to leave, Genocide Jack has already left the repository and is replaced with Aoi, who was originally the second person in that room for a majority of the investigation.
Tumblr media
For the longest time I had no idea the game made Genocide Jack be in the repository while everyone is in the gym. That is until I remembered that at the start of the first investigation, it was agreed that two people had to watch over the crime scene in order to protect against tampering.
6 out of the 8 surviving students were all in the pool so the only two people that could guard the crime scene was Sakura and Genocide Jack.
This is such an amazingly subtle detail for the game to make. Maintaining the established agreement the class had for each investigation, even when the player isn’t physically in the room this happens, is only shown on a map screen that the player has to choose to look at, and is something the player is likely to not even notice or think about when in the pool. They will focus more on the Robo Justice discovery scene unfolding right now than just noticing that a lot of people are here and wondering if 2 people guarding the crime scene.
The only lines in this scene that are in any way related to the crime scene are these.
Tumblr media
Which is funny because Aoi is assuming that having Genocide Jack guard the crime scene with Sakura instead of her would cause conflict. But Genocide Jack is currently in the same room with Sakura and no fight as occurred.
It makes me want to speculate for what reason why Genocide Jack chooses to be in the repository while everyone else is in the pool, she doesn’t really care about investigations and helping out benefits her personally. Did she decide that the two person guard rule was important enough for her to upheld? Was it cause she would be bored being all alone so she just hung out with Sakura? Did Sakura ask her to come watch the crime scene with her a she knew Genocide Jack was the only one available?
What Aoi says, to me, implies that she temporary left her guard duty and didn’t ask Genocide Jack to switch with her or Sakura to find a replacement. So Genocide Jack filled her role without her knowing, I guess Aoi assumed that it would be ok if the crime scene was left with one person for a little bit until she got back and no one else questioned Aoi about her leaving her guard duty so I guess they thought it was ok too. A little irresponsible in my opinion to have one person guard the scene because... you never know, but Sakura was very trustworthy and she wasn’t the prime suspect in this case so I can understand cutting corners like that.
Thankfully, Genocide Jack is not one to cut corners like that, which is ironic considering she has scissors made for cutting.
One last thing. When Aoi goes back to her guard duty, does she get surprised that Genocide Jack is in the room and kicks her out, or does she leave before Aoi knew that she was in there. So much food-for-thought extrapolated from simply having a character be on a map screen.

Chapter 12
In the end, Lucy managed to pick gifts for everyone. And she even found something for herself in the Magic Shop.
There turned out to be a brass gate key in the store, buried under piles of magical knickknacks that she found while looking for presents.
It was unfortunately the only one in the shop, Lucy made the man double-check just to be sure, but she was excited nonetheless.
She made Natsu promise to take her to every magic shop he knew of so she could search for more keys.
It ended up belonging to the constellation of Scutum, The shield.
He was a quirky, but beautiful shield, that had the ability to expand as needed and could even bounce certain magic attacks back.
He was very entertaining, and Lucy wondered if there was a spirit out there that wasn't eccentric. Not that she didn't like the quirky personalities of her beloved spirits.
She was happy with everything she'd found.
And most of all she was grateful that she managed to sneakily buy Natsu's present while he was with her, without him noticing.
The containers she ended up finding for Wendy were perfect.
They were beautifully decorated, made from some type of crystal, and adorned with intricate metal embellishments. She was excited when she spotted a set of three, two smaller ones and a big one.
That paired with the plants and herbs she managed to get were brilliant finds for the young healer, and Lucy couldn't wait to give her the gifts.
Lisanna and Mira were a bit harder to shop for.
She looked around the isles and debated over what she should get the Strauss sisters. There were so many things to consider, and the store had a lot to offer.
While they were in the clothes section Lucy spotted a set of gloves, beanie, and scarf that could apparently change colours at the whim of the wearer.
The younger take-over mage complained a few weeks back that her favorite blue scarf had ripped, so this was the perfect present for her.
After that, she moved on to the jewelry section and there she found a necklace for Mirajane.
It was beautiful.
A gold chain with yellow stones encrusted on it, and a lightning bolt pendant. The shop owner told her that it is enchanted to strike anyone who means the wearer harm with a bolt of lightning.
Natsu found that hilarious for some reason.
While she was looking through the jewelry trying to find something for herself, Lucy spotted a ring.
It was golden, with an amazingly detailed dragon sitting atop it. Its ruby eyes stared at her as if it was going to come alive. The ring was supposedly fireproof and could help boost a fire mage's magic.
She couldn't not buy it for Natsu.
Her partner and his powers were still somewhat of a mystery to her. She knew he was raised by a dragon, and that he used a type of fire magic.
But it was more than that.
His heightened senses, the way he can eat fire, and the way his magic sometimes feels ancient when he's using it to show her his various fire creations.
She remembers Levy telling her that he and Wendy were not ordinary mages.
Lucy often forgets what her best friend is capable of. Mostly because he usually has three moods.
Food, Fighting, and Fire.
And the fighting within the guild, while hazardous to everyone around, doesn't necessarily show his power to its full extent.
She has a feeling that even when fighting enemies he doesn't use his full power, or at least he hasn't reached the potential his power could have.
Lucy doesn't know if she ever wants to see it in full.
She shuddered at the thought.
Lucy also still had trouble grasping the concept of Dragons being real. Both he and Wendy were raised by giant, flying dragons, it was unfathomable to her.
Although she doesn't know the story behind their upbringing or what happened to their parents, she feels like this ring would be a good gift for her partner.
For Gray, she decided to buy three pairs of shirts and pants. Along with a few belts, considering he's always losing his clothes.
She also got a pair of men's fireproof boots. In hopes that Natsu could at least try and look a bit less like a creature of fire that never feels the cold while they're out and about.
If she sounded envious, that's because she was!
Lucy grabbed some fireproof clothes for herself as they went to check everything out, mostly to try and conceal the things she got for him, but also so she could prevent her favorite tops from getting burned when they're on jobs.
After finishing up and paying for all her items, Lucy felt giddy all of a sudden at the thought of Christmas with her friends and exchanging gifts!
It was going to be wonderful, and then very rowdy and drunk, but that was also fun, it wouldn't be Fairy Tail if it wasn't loud and destructive!
When they got to her apartment, Lucy stashed her gifts under her bed and left her new key on the nightstand, she decided to summon it later and see if the spirit wanted to make a contract with her.
Walking back into the living room, she saw Happy and Natsu sprawled out on the couch.
"What are you guys watching?" She asked as she went to sit with them, looking back at the TV she saw they were watching another documentary about fish.
"Is there like a special or something on fish, or do you just have some kind of superpower that can detect when a documentary is on?" Lucy asked the blue exceed as she settled on the couch, throwing her legs up and into Natsu's lap.
"I don't know Lushi, I just turn on the TV, and boom, fishies!" Happy answered her question, using his hands for dramatic effect and Lucy chuckled at him as she settled in to watch a series about the migration patterns of Salmon fish.
"Did you find everything while you were out?" The exceed asked her when the commercials started. "Yeah, it was a lot of fun! We went to this magic store and there were so many different things! I even ended up finding a key!" She told him excitedly.
"That's cool, can we meet your new spirit?" Happy asked equally as excited and turned to face her fully with a large smile on his face.
"Yeah Luce, let's see it!" Natsu chimed and Lucy got up from her seat and went back to her room where she left the key.
"Okay, here it is." She held it up, examining the key, looking at the constellation on the top, trying to see if she could recognize it.
'Scutum. ' A faint voice echoed in her head. 'The Shield.'
"Open, gate of the Shield, Scutum." Lucy swiped the key in the air as she channeled her magic to open the gate.
There was a flash of gold and suddenly, a floating, sentient shield was in the middle of her living room.
"Oh wow, it's been so long since I've been summoned, and by one of the Heartfilia clan, it is an honor." The shield said as he floated around the room. "I thought I was gonna stay in that store forever!"
He was the size of a regular shield, gold, or gold plated, she couldn't tell, with a sun decorating in the middle of it, with the sunbeams protruding from the edges, making deadly blades.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you. My name is Lucy, these are Natsu, and Happy." She pointed at them as she made the introduction.
"Yo!" "Hello!" They each answered as they stared at the talking shield a little dumbfounded
Lucy still doesn't understand why her magic is considered so weird and fascinating to people when she knows a man who eats fire and a woman who can literally turn into a demon.
How is that any less fascinating? Or weird?
"What's up? I've never seen a talking cat before. That's wicked." The shield greeted them back before addressing her. "So, not to be rude or anything, but I thought that all the Heartfilia were dead?" Scutum asked and Lucy almost blanched at his question.
"Umm, I don't really know. This is all still new to me, I just found out about magic like, two, maybe three months ago. And I have been trying to learn what I can, but most of the records have been lost after so many years." Lucy explained to the spirit, wondering, for the first time, how the spirit world worked.
Her mother's spirits must have known who she was, so how come Scutum thought all the Heartfilia were dead as well? Is the spirit realm a world just like this one, with cities and countries of its own?
The spirit mentioned the Heartfilia Clan.
Layla was a spirit mage, her father was not a magic user, how come he took her mother's name?
Lucy decided to ask Cancer, or Virgo the next time she summons them.
"Ah, well, nonetheless it is a privilege to be in your company, Your grace." The shield tipped in her direction as if bowing to her, and Lucy felt uncomfortable at the title and gesture.
"There is no need for titles or any of that. Please, just Lucy is fine." She told him, waving her hands up in front of her, trying to exaggerate her point.
"You are considered royalty in the spirit world Lady Lucy, but I will call you as is your preference." He answered, and all Lucy could do was nod in return.
"So would you like to make a contract with me?" She asked him, trying to change the subject, not feeling comfortable with what she'd found out.
"It would be an honor to serve the Heartfilia." Scutum replied, bowing once more. "You may summon me no more than five times a week, they can be of your choosing. There are, of course, exceptions. If you are in mortal danger, I will come out and help you!" The shield assured her enthusiastically with a small bow in her direction.
"I will leave you know, thank you for finding me." And before she could say anything in return, he disappeared in a flash of golden light.
And Lucy was suddenly left with more questions than ever and a headache building behind her right eye.
"Well, he was interesting." Natsu's voice broke the silence in the room, and Lucy jumped at the sound.
She had forgotten they were with her.
Turning to look at them she smiled slightly, feeling faint as a wave of exhaustion hit her suddenly. "I'm gonna sit down, he's a lot stronger than Granpa Crux, not as strong as the Zodiac's but I wasn't expecting that."
Natsu's hand was under hers in seconds and he helped her walk to and settle on the couch before draping a blanket over her.
"Why don't you rest? And Happy and I will make us something to eat!" He told her with a smile.
Lucy jumped instantly at the suggestion, the blanket falling to the carpet. "No!" She yelled in horror at the thought of them in the kitchen, her knees swaying at the sudden movement.
Natsu's hands were back around her arms as he pushed her back down on the couch, and put the blanket back over her lap.
"Geez, okay. No need to yell ya weirdo!"
"You two are not going anywhere near my kitchen. We're ordering food." She said with a determined huff, crossing her arms.
"Now get me my phone and get your buts here, we're gonna watch some Christmas movies!"
* ********* ********** ********** ********* *
Natsu hadn't been here in almost a year.
Before he even met Lucy.
It was weird to think there was a time when he didn't know her, she felt like such a huge part of him, and the guild.
He lit the torches placed around the cave walls with a fire roar as he walked in. The light helped illuminate the room, and he looked at the gold hoard in front of him.
Coins, jewelry, cups, cutlery, vases, fabrics weaved with golden threads. If it was made from gold, it was probably in here somewhere.
Half he accumulated on his own over the years, slowly adding to the piles.
The other half of it used to belong to Igneel, he'd let Natsu take a portion of his hoard shortly before disappearing
And he thinks that should have been a sign. But he was just a boy back then and didn't know any better.
He only saw a father sharing his treasures.
Shaking off that train of thought, he reminded himself why he was here.
It was a day before Christmas and the guild has been decked out with decorations for a week now, with a giant, outlandishly decorated tree to boot.
Everyone was in great spirits and awaiting the celebrations to come.
"I really should've done this earlier." Natsu muttered to himself as he contemplated where to start digging through his hoard to try and find the key he knew was buried somewhere in the mountains of treasure.
After meeting Scutum last week, and hearing him say that Lucy was a princess, Natsu knew he needed to find the golden key. He knew that she said she was a ducks ass or something, but this guy, or shield, said she was royalty in the Spirit World.
Natsu needed to give her the key. It belongs to her.
And what better present than that?
Well, maybe he can find a necklace or a bracelet for her as well. The key was hers to begin with, she deserves a real gift from him.
Natsu didn't seem to mind the thought of giving his hoard away if it was to Lucy.
Usually, the idea of anyone taking something from here would make his blood boil, more than it normally does anyway.
He wasn't sure why Lucy was an exception to this. And at the moment he didn't really care.
He needs to find the key.
Looking around he let out a huff of frustration, there were so many piles, where should he start?
'Maybe it's buried somewhere in the back, that part is mostly Igneel's.' Natsu thought to himself as he walked through the cave, deciding to start there and make his way to the front.
Natsu dug through the gold senselessly and with no luck. There was so much clutter that he was starting to get a little frustrated.
It felt like a never-ending search.
Huffing through his nose he settled on top of the next pile to take a break. As he turned his head to the left, he spotted a bracelet glinting atop the next pile over.
Moving carefully, so as not to disturb the gold, Natsu made his way to the bracelet.
It was a thin strip, with rubies encrusted around it. It was a simple bracelet, and Natsu couldn't remember where he got it, or if it was one of Igneel's.
He could picture Lucy wearing it.
With a satisfied nod, he stuffed the piece in his pocket, and looked around, trying to decide which pile he should search next.
He cursed himself for not organizing it better, but at the end of the day, it was more fun to lay in a pile of gold, rather than have it neatly organized.
Sighing Natsu laid back, bringing his hands behind his head, he contemplated taking a nap to recharge before continuing the search when the gold suddenly shifted from beneath him and he started sliding down.
"Oh shit." Natsu cursed as he tumbled down the pile, before finally face-planting into the ground.
"Ow." He rubbed his nose as he stood, eyes glaring back at the gold when he caught the glowing gleam of a gate key sitting on top of the pile he had just fallen from.
Smirking, Natsu moved carefully to the other side and climbed to the top where the key was.
Mission 'Find Lucy's Key' accomplished.
He crouched down and picked it up, holding it in his palm, trying to see if he could figure out what constellation it was.
The reason he hesitated giving her the key in the first place was because it was from Igneel's hoard, and he liked it so much. The way it always stayed clean no matter how long you left it be, and he didn't have to do it himself.
It immediately warmed at his touch, and Natsu gave up on guessing and carefully put it in his pocket, he needed to get back to Magnolia.
He'll find out what constellation it was tomorrow.
He turned to look at his hoard, his thoughts going to Igneel as he reminisced about the times they would bring their new finds back to Igneel cave.
He thought about how he couldn't wait to show his dad how much his collection had grown. And how much he was going to love Lucy once they met.
Because there is no doubt in Natsu's mind that his father is out there, alive. They will be united again, and he will get the chance to introduce his two best friends to his dad.
Natsu glanced one last time at the piles of gold as he slid down and put out the flames, before leaving the cave.
He needed to get home and wrap Lucy's presents, he also promised Happy they would sneak into Lucy's apartment around midnight so they could celebrate Christmas with her all day.
It was Happy's idea, and Natsu would never turn down the opportunity to see an angry Lucy, so he immediately agreed.
He knows she will be mad first, probably freak out and yell at them for breaking in, and then she'll probably cry when they tell her they just wanted to spend as much time together on Christmas as they could.
'And she tells me she's not a weirdo.'
Natsu thought to himself with a smile as he walked through the forest back to his cabin and thought about Lucy and her possible reactions to the gifts he got for her.
Would she like the bracelet he picked out? Would she wear it? Natsu thought it would suit her but maybe she doesn't like rubies or doesn't wear gold.
But that's not true, she had gold earrings. He's seen her wear them.
Shaking off his thoughts, Natsu sped up his pace as the cottage came into view.
There was smoke coming out of the chimney, which was strange because he was sure that he put out the fire before leaving.
Natsu started running as he felt a surge of panic.
Slamming the door open, he saw the whole place was cleaned spotless, and he could smell food coming from the kitchen.
Lucy's smell was somehow overwhelming all the others.
She was here, and she cleaned up his house.
"Natsu, Is that you?" Her voice called out as he closed the door. "Yeah, it's me." He tentatively answered as he made his way to the kitchen.
Walking in he was greeted by the sight of Lucy at the stove, frying something on a pan, with pots boiling next to it. There were ingredients scattered around the counter with dishes and knives everywhere, the whole room smelled amazing.
Happy was sitting at the counter, watching her as she moved around the space.
"What's going on here?" He asked as he sat down next to Happy, smiling at the blonde opposite him.
Lucy turned and beamed at him, there was some flour on her cheeks, a spatula in one hand, the apron over her clothes was stained with grease and whatever sauce she was cooking.
She looked so happy that his own smile widened in return as he watched her.
"I was out grocery shopping this morning because everything will be closed for the Holidays, and then I thought, why not come here and spend the night with you guys." She told him as she turned to take something out of the oven and stir some of the pots on the stove.
"So I came over, but Happy told me you were out for the day and he didn't know when you'd come back. I decided to wait, and clean. This place was a pigsty, I now know why you're always at my place." She ranted as she turned off the appliances and went to arrange the food.
Natsu watched her as she moved around his kitchen, opening cabinets and pulling out the plates, knives, forks, and glasses.
"I'm always at your place because you're there, ya weirdo! If you hung out here, that's where I'd be." He told her with a shrug. It was the truth, he liked to spend time with her.
He watched a blush spread on her cheeks and neck, the plates nearly falling out of her grip at his words.
"Natsu! You can't just say stuff like that." She chided him as she set the plates. "Why not, it's the truth." He asked and she blushed even more.
"Oh never mind, let's just eat." She said with a small sigh as she put the dish on the counter and Natsu's mouth watered at the smell.
It was some kind of roast, turkey or duck, he didn't care it looked delicious.
There was rice, and salads, along with fish.
"Ya made all this?" He asked in astonishment as he started pilling food on his plate.
"I did. The cook back home used to teach me all sorts of things when I was a girl. One day my father found out and he was so angry, he immediately forbade it. Almost fired our cook." Lucy answered with a nostalgic smile as she served herself a portion.
Natsu paused his fork in mid-air as he listened to her talk about her childhood.
He felt his anger rise at the mention of her father. He didn't know much about the man, but what he'd heard so far had made him dislike the elder Heartfilia.
"After that day, I would only sneak into the kitchen for my lesson when he wasn't in town. We never got caught again." She laughed at her words, but there was a look in her eyes as if she was reliving a memory or something.
Natsu smiled at her before finally giving in and stuffing the fork into his mouth. "Mmm, wow, this tastes really good Luce!" He said with a mouthful of food, his hands moving to take more. "The cook sure taught you well!"
To his surprise, instead of chastising him for talking with a mouthful of food, Lucy laughed at his words.
It was a happy laugh, eyes scrunched, her head thrown back making her hair almost glow in the light of his kitchen.
It was quite the sight.
"Yeah, I was scared when you said you wanted to cook, but this is really good Lushi." Happy chimed in through mouthfuls of fish.
The blush was back on Lucy's face, but she seemed much happier this time, smiling at both of them as she watched them stuff their faces.
"Thanks, you guys. You can thank me by doing the dishes when we're done!" She told them as she went to dig in the food.
There was a whine from him and Happy at her words.
"Oh don't be such babies, I made us some desserts as well, and you can pick out the first movie we're going to watch, I thought maybe we could make a fort in the living room?"
That made Natsu perk up, and he looked at her with a big smile. "We're gonna make a fort?" He asked her.
"Yup, if you guys want to, I thought it would be fun." She shrugged as she ate, her posture perfect, shoulders back and head straight.
She really was a princess.
"Heck yeah, we want to! That sounds awesome, you're a genius, Luce! Let's eat and clean up fats so we can start"
"Aye, Sir!" Happy cheered from next to him making Lucy laugh at their silly behavior.
* ********* ********** ********** ********* *
Her first Christmas at Fairy Tail was nothing short of perfect.
She spent the night at Natsu and Happy's cabin where they made a pillow and blanket fort in the living room and spent hours watching movies before passing out in the pile of pillows.
Lucy woke up first that morning and decided to make them breakfast before they headed out to the guild.
She had the forethought to bring all of her presents with her last night, so once everyone was fed and ready they trekked through the woods and made their way towards Fairy Tail.
Once they got to the guild, Lucy noticed that there were a substantial number of mages for it being this early.
And everyone seemed to be in a jolly mood.
She saw Mira and Lisanna serving drinks and food to everyone, their usual outfits had cute Santa hats added to them for the day.
The tree in the middle of the guild hall was lit, and there were several presents already placed underneath it, she saw mages go up and place their own in the pile.
Lucy spotted Cana drinking at the bar, the brunette also had a Santa hat on, but her usual attire stayed the same, a bikini top and jeans, with a barrel of wine on her hip.
Honestly is there anyone in this guild that feels the cold? Maybe it was the blood-to-alcohol level that kept her warm.
Natsu and Lucy made their way to the tree and put their gifts under it, before moving to find a table.
Levy was sitting with Jet and Droy on the right side, and Lucy waved at the bluenette as they made eye contact. "Merry Christmas you guys!" She told them with a smile as they passed their table.
There was a course of "Merry Christmas" exclaimed back at them, from more than just Levy and the guys.
Happy spotted Wendy and Charla and raced to where they were sitting, making Lucy and Natsu follow behind.
"Marry Christmas Wendy, Charla." Lucy greeted the girls as they approached their table. "May we join you?"
"Merry Christmas guys! Yes, sit, we were just about to get some breakfast, do you want anything?" Wendy happily gestured for them to sit.
"I'm good, Luce made us breakfast before we left." Natsu answered as he plopped on the bench.
"I brought some fish with me to snack on, would you like one Charla? It's a rainbow trout!" Happy tried flirting with the white exceed, only for her to scoff at his offer.
"I don't want fish so early in the morning TomCat." She chided him, and Lucy felt sorry for the blue-haired fur ball, but she did tell him to try and woo Charla with something other than fish.
"Could you get me a raspberry lemonade, please?" Lucy said, trying to ignore the failed attempt of flirting from Happy.
"Got it, I'll be right back!" Wendy said with a smile as she stood up to go to the bar and place their order.
"Merry Christmas Lucy, fire breath!" She heard Gray's greeting and turned to see the ice mage approaching their table.
His clothes were all still thankfully on, but he did seem to have a shadow following him.
Juvia is a sweet soul, but a little odd as well. The bluenette has fallen in love with Gray and decided that stalking him was the best way to go.
Lucy can't say she approves of her methods, but then again she had absolutely no experience in relationships outside of books.
And those don't count.
"Merry Christmas Gray, Juvia!" Lucy greeted them with a smile, and she saw Gray sweat-drop at the mention of the water mage.
"Yo! Why is she staring at us from under the table?" Natsu addressed them and turned to ask her.
Lucy heaved a sigh at his obtuseness and went to smack him on the head. "You can't just ask things like that! Be a little more sensitive will you?" She said in her best threatening voice and saw the way he gulped at her expression.
"A-aye, sir." He saluted as he raised his hands in defense.
"Gosh, you can be scarier than Erza when you want to be." She heard him mumble as he rubbed the back of his head. "And don't you forget it." She booped his nose with a smile, before turning back to Juvia.
"I'm sorry about him. Would you like to join us for breakfast? Wendy just left to order, but we can get you something." Lucy extended the invitation to the water mage, not wanting to spend the morning with her creeping under tables.
"You want Juvia to sit with you?" The girl asked shyly as she slowly inched from under the table. "After what she has done to you?"
Lucy felt her heart clench for the girl. "Like I told you before, there are no hard feelings." She smiled at the blunette and offered her hand. "I know what the punishment for disobeying orders from Jose can be like." Lucy said somberly, as she remembered Gajeel and his reinforced steel breaking her bones.
"So don't worry about it and come spend Christmas morning with us!" Lucy shook off her thoughts and smiled at the girl who looked back at her with slight tears in her eyes.
"Juvia doesn't know how to thank you." She mumbled as she went to sit by Gray.
"You can thank me by telling me how your power works if you're okay with that. It's just so cool that you can turn into water!" Lucy rambled as she got enthusiastic, making everyone at the table chuckle at her excitement.
"Juvia doesn't mind." The other girl answered with a small smile.
And that was how they spent most of the day. Talking, eating, and having fun.
Sharing stories of their jobs and fights that happened within the guild before either of the girls joined.
Lucy was surprised to learn that Mira and Erza used to be rivals, she just couldn't see it, they were such good friends.
They were joined by various members of the guild throughout the day.
Everyone wishing them a Merry Christmas. It was around noon, when everyone started drinking and before they could exchange the gifts, the guild was in full party mode and everyone was too enthralled and happy to care.

Sayonara Eri Analysis- a series
(feel free to skip the following intro)
Hello, I have decided that I will begin writing a series about Tatsuki Fujimoto's Sayonara Eri- I have been wanting to commit to writing about this oneshot for a very long time and I have finally managed to muster up the energy to properly write about this story. I hope you will enjoy this series (which will probably consist of roughly five parts, more or less), and I will try my best to update this as much as I can. I apologise in advance for my poor grammar and my rant like writing style which might be difficult to read. I'll jump right into it now.
Tumblr media
Sayonara Eri was the first Fujimoto manga I have read, I still remember skimming through it quickly on the bus with low expectations in mind, but it ended up absolutely destroying me and consuming my brain. Since reading this oneshot, I have absolutely fallen in love with his manga, (thus my obsession began) and I immediately read Fujimoto's entire collection which became my biggest hyper-fixation. I would highly recommend you to check out this oneshot if you haven't yet (because it is that good). Even if you might not like it as much as I do, it is surely an experience of a lifetime. I won't waste time introducing the story as you can easily find a good blurb online, but I will conduct a deep analysis on every detail within this oneshot (because I am insane). I'll shut up now,
--------Spoiler warning----------------------------------------------------
Sayonara Eri, part 1
Tumblr media
Most of Sayonara Eri's panels fit in the 2.35:1 widescreen cinemascope format with the exception of a mere few (depicting Yuta's true pov instead of from his smartphone camera). This form of panelling was crafted by the one and only Fujimoto which worked out beautifully and effectively- depicting Yuta's unhealthy habit of viewing his life through an outside perspective since the very start. The cinematic panels also allow the reader to almost "watch" the manga like a film- one of the main messages in the oneshot was to portray how one may alter their entire existence through technology through the power of deception. We were viewing Yuta's edited, romanticised film form the very beginning- already fallen straight in this false trap.
It can be observed from the beginning that Fujimoto has poured his heart into perfecting every minor detail in the story so his message could be delivered clearly (both visually and through language). I seriously admire him so much, he works incredibly hard and truly dedicates himself to his craft.
Tumblr media
Yuta's childish, goofy nature is so precious. It's heart wrenching to see his playfulness slowly disappear through the story. Fujimoto excels at crafting realistic and truthful characters, Yuta speaks like a real person, you can imagine his mannerisms and tone just through the drawings and written dialogue- it's expressive, genuine, raw. I love it. Not every manga needs paragraphs of complicated, descriptive dialogue- Fujimoto excels at show, not tell. A lot of his messages are delivered visually (through facial expressions, background details or character mannerisms) or even through the tone in which the characters speak in (suggested through punctuation and word choices) This further increases the degree of realism in his stories- people normally converse using quick, simple language. Fujimoto doesn't fall into the trap of overexplanation or writing complicated, relentless dialogue that bores out his audience. It makes the story feel believable and truthful- allowing us to truly connect with it to an emotional and personal level.
After reading though the oneshot an embarassing amount of times- I managed to truly grasp onto the characterisation of Yuta's mom which I think was amazingly executed through the minimal screentime she had. It was obvious from the start that the visual appearance of Yuta's mom heavily resembled Makima- which I think was intentional. They also share an insane about of similarities in their personality and mannerisms. For instance- their manipulative, forceful nature, their role as an unhealthy motherlike figure, using others to fulfil their selfish desires, the way they were both introduced as "good people" in the beginning of the story- which was then revealed to be untrue. I found this detail very interesting. I feel like both Yuta's mom and Eri are figures who both represent the true nature of many human beings- how many of us are in fact self absorbed and untrusting- utilising deception to get by in life (to build an admirable self image, real or fake) and fufil our selfsh motivations through the use of people we surround ourselves with (without considering the consequences our actions have on others). Are people naturally selfish? It's scary to wonder how the people we trust might be constantly faking themselves and putting up an act. From what we learn from Yuta's mom later into the story, we get a glimpse of her true nature which was hidden behind closed doors. Left unrecorded on Yuta's glorified, romaticised movie footage. This made us pity Yuta even more, not only was his mom dead- she was also abusive, aggressive, foul mouthed and dismissive of her son's wellbeing. She was revealed to be a terrible mother.
This says a lot about how deceptive social media is- for instance. Yuta had the choice to include his mother's unappealing footage that revealed her true nature to the public- but he chose not to, and instead- he used the movie to remember her fondly through the minimal, heart warming moments he captured. Through just a phone, one's identity may be altered greatly, so much to the point where they might appear to be presented as almost a completely different person. Although Yuta had to live the remaining of his life bearing the suffering of his mother's death and abuse- he was able to offer others a glimpse of her beautiful moments, fulfilling his mother's wishes and allowing her to be remembered by others in a positive light. While Yuta remains to grieve in silence, he was able to spread a false impression of his mother who died tragically, so at least others could remember moments of joy, happiness and beauty that is precious. As Fujimoto once said- "ignorance is a bliss", sometimes it's better to not know a reality so one can live a more comfortable life, clouded by positive thoughts. This was what Yuta was able to spread to others through his highly edited film. It's undeniably untruthful, but it did leave a positive impact on the world. Without the movie, he wouldn't have met Eri as well (despite the fact that it could be argued that she was very toxic to him) but Yuta did manage to gain a fair share of beautiful memories with her as well. Sometimes, it really is better to be a bit optimistic and view the good in others- I think that I would rather live a life clouded by false joy than to be sunken into a depressing and brutal reality.
Yuta lived a terrible life, but he was able to fufil the wishes of the people around him and pay homage to the people who he appreciated in life. It's incredibly sad, but also heart warming.
Tumblr media
One thing I found interesting was Eri's mysteriousness. She was portrayed to look dream-like, literally mythological. She has no last name, we know nothing about her character background and we don't see her interacting with people other than Yuta and his father- not even her other close friend who was briefly mentioned separately. It then almost makes us question- was Eri even real? This is the result of highly editing and altering one's life to the audience- for a good length of the story, we were only faced with Eri's more admirable qualities, we truly know nothing about her. Just like how we might actually be viewing a false identity of an online celebrity. It's good for the audience- being able to be influenced and faced with such an attractive figure, but it's a different story when we are confronted with a reality told through a person who had the opportunity to truly witness their true character. I feel like Eri's overall "fakeness" was successfully executed through the vagueness of her character- we as a reader was able to fall in love with her quickly and easily, just for this impression to be broken into pieces once Fujimoto shoved us with a reality. Through just this repeated scenario, Fujimoto successfully reinforced his message to the reader.
Following onto the analysis of Eri's vague, mysterious character presentation- I would like to further expand on her arc. I'll answer a few commonly asked questions.
Tumblr media
Was Eri really a vampire?- I think no
Was Eri really ill- I think yes
Did Eri really die- I think yes too,
Did Eri really like Yuta's movie- Most probably, no.
I'll answer the first two questions on this post, then the next two on the following post. On the third post, I am planning on further expanding on the symbolism of the explosions in the story along with Yuta's attempted su*cides.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was Eri really a vampire?
I vaguely answered this on a reddit post, I'll paste it below-
( I personally think that Eri’s identity as a vampire and her “immortality” is the metaphorical representation of how her existence is preserved through Yuta’s memory and his movie despite the fact that she is deceased. Eri befriends Yuta with a clear motivation in mind- to be remembered fondly. Vampires feed off the vital essence of the living, and this dynamic can be vaguely seen in Yuta and Eri’s relationship. She fears to be forgotten, and wishes to be depicted in a way where she is lovable and admirable.
Yuta’s presentation of Eri was revealed to be overly idealistic towards the end of the manga, and I learnt that I was completely fooled by this twisted representation of this “dream girl” who was devoid of any flaw. There was no visual evidence of Eri’s true nature that was viewed through the perspective as an outsider- we only manage to perceive her through the lens of one singular person (plus Eri’s other friend, but there is no visual evidence of Eri’s interactions with her). Eri’s legacy is preserved after death through Yuta’s movie- even after many years, Eri’s youthful footage in the movie acts as a time capsule, preserved like a vampire while Yuta grows older and lives. Without Yuta (the living), Eri’s existence will only continue to live through the memories of Yuta, and her legacy will die and disappear off the face of the world- like Yuta’s mother, she is self obsessed and manipulative, using Yuta (a submissive and lonely boy with attachment issues) for their selfish wishes- (to be remembered by others beautifully, even through the heavy use of deception). The first Eri was the representation of her true existence while the second Eri comes in the form of a preserved memory, symbolic of the way how Yuta has never fully recovered from her passing. The explosion in the end is intense and cathartic- truthful and passionate, unlike the explosion in the first movie that was obviously edited in, leaving no damage on the hospital. However, the ending explosion actually caused wreckage. This marks the point in life where Yuta finally moves on and disassociates with his past in a positive manner- facing the reality of his situation and dropping the unhealthy habits of escapism that persisted through his youth towards adulthood.)- I hope this was clear
(*side note, there is no need for you to agree with my take, I'm just sharing my opinion)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Was Eri really ill?
Yes, I believe that Eri was ill. There is clear evidence to my take on this answer that was there since the beginning of Eri's character arc. Looking back all the way towards her introduction, we can recall that Yuta met Eri on the hospital rooftop. There is a high chance that Eri was at the hospital for checkups, something of that sort. She had no reason to be loitering on some hospital rooftop if she was not a regular visitor or a patient. A hospital scene is also difficult to script in real life (for a low budget movie), Fujimoto obviously likes to add tinges of fantasy to his work, but he only does that if there is a clear message/reason behind it. I don't see why a hospital scene, (in which Eri looked clearly ill) would be fake/ scripted for the movie.
I think it has to be true that Eri was ill- all this time, and it can be guessed that Eri had clear desire in mind from the beginning, which is wanting her death to be captured as beautifully as the way Yuta did for his mother. I doubt Eri really cares about Yuta, she is an incredibly self obsessed character.
Yuta was emotionally destroyed by the news of Eri's declining health. The entire point of Eri (also being ill) was to highlight Yuta's journey of reliving his childhood trauma, making his character arc even more tragic. This highlights the detrimental psychological effects one would have to endure after- growing to be attached to someone just to have the relationship crumble right in front of you and to also unwillingly be forced into a situation that brings a great deal of trauma... while Eri remained to be uncaring of Yuta's wellbeing, just like his mother. Eri most likely knew how much Yuta was affected by his mother's passing and the way others responded to his movie (Eri literally saw him try to jump off a roof), but she didn't care a single bit- instead, she dragged him into the same situation all over again, (probably planned from the moment she met him) just so she could fufil her personal desires.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for reading! I apologise for my low quality writing, it isn't my strong suit. Stay tuned for a new post!
