One real negative of keeping this blog is that I have a tendency to move on from music fairly quickly. This means I might not listen to a favorite album for years. Such was the case with The Delgados "The Great Eastern".

"The Past That Suits You Best" has always been one of my favorite songs - really, I think the whole album is fantastic. I learned yesterday that the band is reforming for some UK dates. I also didn't realize they were a Glaswegian band.

Chemikal Underground (also based in Glasgow) credits this album with keeping the label relevant after Mogwai and Arab Strap left the label.

To me this is a lush, beautiful album in the vein of The Flaming Lips "The Soft Bulletin".

[Video] Arab Strab veröffentlichen Video zur neuen Single "Strawberry Moon"!

Arab Strap veröffentlichen den neuen Song "Strawberry Moon", die zweite Single aus ihrem kommenden Album "I'm totally fine with it 👍 don't give a fuck anymore 👍" (10. Mai über Rock Action).

Das herrlich verrückte Video zum Song, das mit David Arthur - der mit Aidan Moffat bereits an dem Film "Where You're Meant To Be" gearbeitet hat – gedreht wurde, zeigt Malcolm Middleton und Moffat als Werwolf und Priester bei einer Verfolgungsjagd kreuz und quer durch Glasgow, samt Abstecher in Tunnel, Clubtoiletten und dunkle Parkanlagen. Es ist das erste Mal seit knapp 25 Jahren, dass das Duo gemeinsam in einem Video auftritt. "Aye, it's been a while", ergänzt Moffat. "So we thought we should go all out – costumes, make-up, special effects, acting, mobility scooter and all."

“Lyrically, it's maybe the most personal song on the album”, erzählt Aidan Moffat über die Single. “About a period when I wasn't doing very well, both mentally and physically. I was walking with a cane and in pain most of the time, and drowning my sorrows too, trapped at home and watching the phases of the moon through a window.”
