I was gonna post this earlier, but I was trying to find this ff that I love so I spent 3 HOURS TRYING TO FIND IT AND GUESS WHAT- I didn't. I am pissed off.

This one kinda sucks compared to my others, sorry 😭

The next few days were the most boring days of your life. Stuck to the side of your mother or father you followed them around, it pissed you off more than anything. Why were you getting punished for something you didn't even start. The only time you had time to hang out with Tsireya and your siblings was during lunch or dinner. You didn't know how long your father was going to punish you, but you were fed up with it already.

They were busy today, unsure of what they were doing you stuck near the Marui. Your mother was in the Marui, you weren't interested of exactly what she was doing so you placed yourself in her view but not nearby.

You kicked your feet into the water, almost finished with the bracelet you were making for Tuk. You loved to craft; it was one of your favorite pastimes. As you focused on finishing the last string, a head suddenly popped out of the water by your right leg.

You let out a shriek, clutching the bracelet to your chest tightly. Aonung grinned amusement at your reaction and you glared at him. You had been avoiding him, not wanting to see him after what he did to your siblings.

" What." You grumbled, going back to your bracelet." I just...wanted to see you." You looked up with a raised eyebrow, he ran a hand along the top of his head." To, you know..apologize."

" I don't accept." You blinked at him, an awkward silence hung in the air, and he clenched his jaw." You haven't even heard me out yet." He let out an unamused chuckle, trying to hide his distaste." I'm not obligated to accept."

" Yes, I know that!" He blew out a quick breath of air and lowered his voice." But at least listen to what I have to say. That's all I'm asking." He placed a hand above your knee but quickly removed it when you looked down at it." Then you can ignore me all you want."

Your ears turned a bit purple from embarrassment, mainly for having it be called out, he seemed to notice." I was right." He pointed to your ears and your quickly covered them with your hands." I don't know what you're talking about." You denied. He rolled his eyes." Your ears turn purple when you're embarrassed or angry."

" No, they don't!"

He grinned at you, and you turned your eyes away from his stare." Fine, I'll hear you out." You grumbled and he put his hand to his ear." I'm sorry, what was that?"

" Maybe I shouldn't then if you're gonna be a cocky bastard about it." You scowled at him, and he tried his best to keep a straight face." Okay, okay, fine. I'll stop teasing you." You fell into a tense silence as you waited for him to speak. His ilu nudged your leg and you pet its snout in acknowledgement.

" I'm sorry for the immaturity and bullying I put you and your siblings through. I understand that this was supposed to be Uturu for you and your family and I made it very difficult for it to be." He sighed, not making eye contact with you." You can avoid me, ignore me, glare at me.... or we could start over." He put three of his fingers to his forehead, bringing them out and pulling them down while looking at you.

You rolled your eyes, and he squirmed under your piercing gaze. After a long pause you did it back, and he had to contain himself not to show how excited he actually was." I still don't like you, though. And I don't accept you lame ass apology still." You whispered to him, and he did everything he could not to roll his eyes.

" Hello Aonung." You jumped a bit at your mothers voice." What are you doing here?" She asked, she handed you a fruit basket, full of cut fruit. " What's this for?" You asked." For your siblings, go bring it to them." Neytiri cocked her head at you." Without joining any fights."

Aonung would've snickered if you hadn't sent a glare his way. You stood up and began to walk away and Aonung hurried to catch up to you. " I'll come with you." He walked next to you, you gave an annoyed look, still mad at him." Go away." He was like an annoying, rude, cute little puppy that was trying to follow you around.

" You're grounded to your parent's company, right? I'm the chief's son if you hang out with me, I'm sure they'd let it slide." He smirked at you; he was gonna make your ears permanently purple out of irritation. Neytiri watched you two, smiling a bit at the boy trying to get your attention. It reminded her of when she first met Jake.

" Hey, why don't you go on the next hunt with us." He nudged you with his arm and you furrowed your brows." Why so you can abandon me there and almost get me killed like you did my brother." He winced." I really am sorry, I even apologized to Lo'ak."

" So, you guys are buddy-buddy now because you can both relate to being losers?" You raised a brow at him, and he rolled his eyes." He told me about your conversation, don't worry I know aaalll the juicy details." You laughed at his irritation; he put his hands behind his back and balled his hands up. He was going to tell you off, but he knew he teased you worse in the past, so he ignored you.

" So, will you?"

Before you could respond Tuk came up to you." Are you ungrounded! I want to show you something!" She didn't wait for your response and began to pull you towards the water." Look I found this really cool plant, see. See!" She waddled into the water, kneeling into the water and pointed at a plant in the water.

" Where are the others?" You asked and she shrugged." Well, Kiri is somewhere around here but I don't know where the boys are." You squatted next to her, keeping the basket balanced on your shoulder. " This is my new favorite plant, isn't it pretty!" She ran her hand along the plant, messing with it as it flowed in the water.

" Well, I brought fruit from mother for you guys as a snack." She lifted her head." Oo yummy." She went to reach for the fruit, but you pulled back a bit." You must wash your hands first." She groaned and you gave her an amused grin.

" Well, I'll eat them after I'm done exploring then. I want to show you more of what I found!" You turned towards Aonung who looked bored, annoyed that you hadn't answered his question yet. Maybe you could get him off your tail and leave you alone. So, you turned to Aonung with your smirk, a smirk you only wore when you were about to piss someone off.

" Hey, you can show Aonung. He could also give you more information on your favorite discoveries!" You turned back to Tuk, pinching her sides lightly making her giggle." Really!" She looked over your shoulder to an Aonung who was glaring at you." Would you do that!?"

You looked to Aonung expectingly, he stood their awkwardly." Uh, yeah okay." You gave a big grin to Tuk and stood up as she waddled over to Aonung. You were glad that she was relatively okay with Aonung, this would help you lose him and maybe have a decently peaceful day.

You liked Aonung to some extent, but he always managed to irritate you, even his stupid smirk made your neck purple in annoyance. At least, you hoped it was annoyance- of course it was, what are you thinking.

Tuk began to talk his ear off, asking him a bunch of questions. He was surprisingly patient with her and spoke with a softness you've never noticed before. You were off to find your brothers, you didn't trust to leave the basket with Tuk. Not that she was untrustworthy, she would just end up eating more than her fair share and you'd get in trouble for not splitting it among all of them.

You walked a few minutes on the beach until you spotted them on a rock, snickering to each other. Lo'ak hung out with Kiri the most, but during the times he did hang out with Neteyam they were both snickering and giggling like school children.

" What's up mommies' girl." Neteyam waved you over with a teasing smile, earning an eye roll from you." What happened to being stuck to mom or dad's waist?" Lo'ak raised a brow, and you handed them the box of fruit." Mom wanted me to give this to you guys."

Their hands immediately went into the basket, and you grabbed one, nibbling on it a bit." Make sure to save some for Tuk and Kiri."

" We should show Tsireya Uno." Lo'ak suggested randomly. You turned to him with a confused face." What brought this up?"

" Uno brings out the worst in us, a part of us.... she should not see.." Neteyam placed his hand on his chest and shook his head while his eyes were closed, feigning sorrow." Idiot, it's just fun." Lo'ak grumbled while shoving his face with slices of fruit.

Your father had shown you Uno when he was younger, forcing Neytiri to join every few nights for a family game. It was his favorite childhood game on Earth, and he wanted to share it with his family. It caused many fights between you and Lo'ak but it's definitely a big part of your family.

You turned around and waved behind you." Anyways, I should probably head back." They waved at you, not really paying much attention and went back to eating the fruit.

You were halfway back to your Marui when Aonung jogged up next to you and stopped." So, what about my question earlier?" He asked and you blinked at him, genuinely confused." What question?" He huffed in frustration and annoyance." About you joining Rotxo and I to go hunting."

" Uhhh..." There was a long pause as you pretended to think." Nah." You shook your head, and he got in front of you stopping you from moving." Why not?"

" I just don't want to."

You tried to move around him, but he just continued to get in your way." Come on it'll be fun." Your annoyance was growing, finding it more difficult not to yell at the boy." Why do you want me to go so badly?" You asked and he shrugged." Neteyam said you're good on a hunt, wanted to see if he's right."

You knew on some level he was being dishonest, trying to cover up the real reason as to why he wanted you to go. You didn't bother to pry, it's not like you cared.

"Okay, fine I'll go." You smirked at him, and he looked down at you with an interested stare." But I kind of don't want Rotxo there. Just you and me, okay?" He frowned, why would you ask to be alone with him if you tried to ditch him any chance you got.

Wait...oh. You were going to try and ditch him. Give him a taste of his own medicine. He grinned at you, two could play that game." Okay then, tonight before Eclipse. Don't worry about your father, I'll deal with that."

He didn't lie, you don't know exactly what he told him but about an hour later he was coming up to you telling to get ready.

Neytiri seemed relatively happy you two made up." I hope this means your fighting will lessen drastically with the boys." She looked up from her current focus of wrapping wrap stuffing. You held the urge to scoff." I hope he stops following me around like a lost puppy after this."

He might've just started doing it, but you were fed up with it already. She took a braid in between her fingers and folded it behind your ear." You are the polar opposite of Kiri it makes me laugh." Lo'ak said behind you as he carried in some fish." You are literally the biggest asshole-"

" Lo'ak!" Neytiri scolded and he let out a snicker before going to his spot next to his father." What do you know! She's literally just like me!" You chucked a random object at him that was next to you." She's not violent!"

" Yes she is! With her words! Penis Face!" You snapped at him." Hey! Knock it off you two!!"

" Ready to go?" Aonung's voice rang out on the side of the Marui, making you jump a bit. Lo'ak laughed in amusement until his arm was roughly pulled backwards by Neteyam. " Yes." You sighed and stood up; he wore a smirk on his face as you followed him away.

" So, what's with the penis face thing?" He chuckled, looking at the side profile of your face. You refused to look at him, but he took you responding as a win." Something my sister started when we were younger." You giggled to yourself at the memory.

" Kind of like the Fish lips thing that Lo'ak called you." You let out a cackle as his face fell." I don't find it that funny to be honest." He grumbled and you grinned at him." Stop looking at me like that." He pushed your face away with his hand.

The walk towards the water was peaceful, but you didn't know how peaceful this hunt was going to be. Considering you knew he knew that you were planning on ditching him and that he knew you knew he knew you were planning on ditching him which he planned to avoid as much as possible. Let the fun begin!

Will visit Caesar’s and your island just to mess with you and gift your villagers ugly clothing and furniture.

Biggest troll you two know and yet you love him.

Jotaro eventually surprises you with a friend request on your switch.

Is absolutely obsessed over aquatic Villagers and filling the fish part of the museum to take pictures there with you.

Organized Town, pretty layout, casual player that takes his time to slowly work towards everything.

Will make his house gaming themed.

One part of the island is dedicated to recreating the cafe and fill it with references to you and his other friends.

Eager to get his friendship up with all his villagers, loves to give them gift and talks to them daily.

Loves the Nookmile tickets/ Kapp'n trips and goes on them whenever he can.

Froggy Chair obsessed.

Owns the Sanrio Amiibo cards and decorates with it.

Also has all the villager amiibo cards and everyone is welcome to borrow them to get their favorites on their respective islands.

Loves the museum and eagerly works on filling it, gifting anything he already has to you.

Cute natural island theme with loads of plants and occasional duplicated statues spread around.

Made a cute park for you that has lots of hybrid flowers and cutesy furniture.

Loves all villagers, but his favorites are the frogs.

One room in her house is dedicated to you and filled with references to your relationship.

Anasui is banned from all islands, and you designed a custom pattern with his face and a red X on it that all of you have next to your airport.

Johnny wasn't big into it at first and then got completely hooked.

Loves Gyroids and has multiple in each room.

Gyro and he trade furniture and ignore the museum completely. They are only interested in decorating their homes and island to have it perfect.

Made it big with turnips but refuses to explain to Gyro how it works.

Was confused at first why you liked the game so much.

Yasuho and you made him his sailor outfit and buy him some furniture to start him up with.

You two explain the whole concept roughly to him and then let him play.

You never expected him to figure it out super quickly and making loads of money with turnips.

His house was upgraded faster than yours and Yasuho’s, he began making his own custom paths, made an orchard on his island.

He quickly takes a huge liking to the game and loves everything about it.

He leaves the island largely as it is, the only stuff he really decorates are his house, the orchard (reminiscent of the Higashikata one) and the little area with his villagers.

The rooms in his house are all dedicated to a person that he then decorates accordingly to. (You, Yasuho, Holly, the Higashikata Family etc)

About the Stark succession: Bran's claim is the strongest in actuality but he is presumed dead and a cripple, currently in a tree with no ongoing plans of returning. Rickon's claim is second, he has considerable support among the lords, but he is six. Jon has marital experience, is an 'adult', named the successor by Robb, probably will have as much or more support than Rickon, but all that is mute after his parentage is revealed. Sansa is almost an adult, (will have) the largest army, but has an unconsummated marriage to a Lannister hanging. Arya has second last/last claim whatever way you see it, and is on another continent rn, with assassins who might not be very willing to let her go, so she is the least involved in this succession crisis. As I see it, Rickon, Sansa and Jon are the only ones who will have supports backing their claims, they are also the ones who are returing home soon. Rickon is being retrieved from Skaagos Davos, Sansa is in a plot with Littlefinger to take back Winterfell, Jon died while trying to march on Winterfell. Its interesting to see where this will go.

I agree. It's really interesting to set up the factions, people who want to use the different Starks for their own ends, so I don't think it makes sense to focus so much on Sansa being disinherited or whatever it is people want to say about her claim when Martin has created supporting or detracting factors for each kid.

Knowing that in some form or fashion, Bran is king in the end, I think we have to assume that the Starks don't go at it like others and fight for their claims, but resolve this amongst themselves, remain loyal to each other, no matter what external forces demand as the outcome. I simply don't think thematically, they'd end up in positions of leadership otherwise. So, yes, there are pros and cons for each, but how the Starks navigate those will dictate their fates. And I think we more or less know their fates so 🤷🏻‍♀️

A lot of people have pointed out what they see as punishment for ambitious women in the ASOIAF-verse, so it seems unlikely that Sansa would press her birthright at the expense of someone else’s, even if we didn't already have it written into her story that she doesn't perceive herself in that light, wouldn't pursue her claim for her own benefit. Perhaps Sansa’s willingness for Jon to be made king and her support of him rather than contesting it is the answer to other characters’ willingness to go to war rather than relinquish their claim.

If Bran is to rule in the end, he can't fight Jon over it even if Jon has been proclaimed KitN while he was presumed dead. And I know people want to use Rickon, but I think his age is a disqualifying factor considering the situation the North will find themselves in. Robb's Will means Jon has a lot going for him, except, the rumors, the deserting, the assassination, the question of loyalty in the aftermath of what he does post rez, the presence of all the FF...I feel like that's a lot to shrug off? There’s also his handling of the Karstark matter that we approve of, but characters may not. I have thought he’s meant to feel like a king of winter post rez, but for the characters, it seems like there are many things about Jon specifically that might create unease in the North no matter what the will says. Some fans speculate that Sansa will be in the Vale longer, some of us are dedicated to the idea that she goes North sooner, but whether it’s her or Rickon, there will also be a trueborn Stark kid around even if Arya and Bran don’t reunite with him anytime soon, and there’s plenty to make them preferable to some people.

We all love that Jon refused Winterfell when it was offered, it's a great moment for him, and I like the idea that he will refuse the crown and refuse pursuing a Targ claim, but if he accepts kingship (and there is a ton of king crap surrounding him so...), then I think it makes sense for him to self-exile in the end because post-parentage reveal, he'll feel like a usurper even if the Starks don't agree. Obviously, if a Jonsa marriage occurs as his way to right that wrong, all is well. (*holds up a sign saying “let my babies be happy!” outside Mr Martin’s window*)

I don't know, when I look at the story there seem to be turning points that demand very different fallout. Confusing!

[9:18 pm] You softly let out a grunt as drunk Jisung placed you in his lap just to kiss you. His touch was gentle but he was being too clingy on you.

His lips tasted like alcohol as this was his first time drinking ever since he became an adult. His right hand gripped on your waist while his other was on your shoulder.

His already swollen lips on your swollen ones. Both melting into the kiss as the night progressed. Jisung bit your lips, only to receive a soft sound from you.

"My baby is so cute," he whispered before he planted a kiss on your collarbone. Both of your cheeks were red and you were sweating due to the sudden hotness of the room.

That's when you realized that drunk Jisung is your enemy but also a side you want to see again.

Suddenly, you flinched when someone hit Jisung's head. You pulled back and a pout appeared on his red swollen lips.

Part 4 - The Jester

He knew that Kay had no family, that he felt just as much an outcast as Merlin, that he clung to Excalibur because he had no one else, and that Excalibur would never let either one of them go.

Kay is my baby and I will kill for him. I'm impatiently waiting for the Kay & Will show. And Bran and Kathy.

In the quiet that followed the first video, Merlin wondered if he should have tried harder to tell Arthur. But what would Arthur have done then? His only encounter with magic had been bad, and Merlin didn't want Arthur to think that having magic automatically made someone evil. He'd said as much when watching the movies.

Listen. Listen. I'm a sucker for Magic Reveals. I've read them all. And if there's one thing I know, it's that the longer Merlin waits to tell Arthur, the harshest the consequences are. Yes, Arthur gets his head on straight after a while, mostly (there are the MR that do go very badly, but let's focus on the ones where they stay strong together). But a certain amount of time of lies and secrets especially when the opportunity arises to speak... Sours things. I'm just saying. I love Magic Reveal.

"Not me," Kay said suddenly, standing up slowly, shaking his head. Merlin watched him, a little surprised, because Kay was the last one who would step up first. He was usually last, after he'd analyzed everything nearly as thoroughly as Arthur. Kay's cheeks were flushed now, aware that he had everyone's attention on him, and he shrugged. "You lot know I bounced foster homes until I hit sixteen."

SHUT UP I LOVE KAY OKAY.

They'd gone a step further. Now they were trusting each other with the impossible, with the unknown, with a challenge that was going to push them above and beyond anything they had ever done before. Arthur never had any doubt that his men were up to the task. It was something else, however, to watch them come to the realization that they were up to that task.

Okay, I'm anti-military by principle, but you offer me the chance to be part of Team Excalibur, I'm jumping on it. IF I was fit and prone to fire arms and patriotic. But yeah, I wanna join the team. That's the true force of LM imo, the depth of the characters and the strength of their bond.

"Magic." He took Arthur's arm and they continued to walk. "The sort of magic that hasn't been seen on the British Isles since the time of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and Merlin the Magician."

There's literally two guys right now in position of power, one a true leader, the other full of secrets and incomprehensibly powerful, with those exact names, thrown together and already bonded. WHY IS NO ONE COMMENTING ON THAT COINCIDENCE. What? Yes, I know I'm foreshadowing, I've been sitting on that pesky little detail since part 1. HIS NAME IS LITERALLY ARTHUR PENDRAGON AND HE'S DESCENDED FROM OLD MONEY AND OLD ROYALTY. AND MERLIN IS WELSH AND PAGAN. Ffs why is no one even making a joke. Gaaaaah, frustrating.

The first was to subdue Trickler inside the club -- likely the easiest approach since most of Trickler's people would be outside, or hampered by the crowds, but then again, the crowds would get in the way of Team Excalibur, too. The second option was to lure Trickler outside of the club, and have it out with his people in the open.

Ah. I'm remembering the plan. I'm remembering why The Jester is my least favourite part of it all... Why I tend to start my usual re-readings with part 5 or 6. Hang on to something, it's going to get bumpy.

The closet was stocked with expensive designer clothing in his size, but someone, somewhere, had failed the fashion coordination course, because that jacket was a dark navy blue, and they did not go with the Armani charcoal trousers.

Yeaaaah, still not liking the plan to grab Trickler. I just don't like it when Merlin is put in the position of the vulnerable, defenseless, submissive one, when he's everything but all of that. That's actually part of the only two problems I have with LM as a whole, one being the sometimes misogynistic language used, the other being the slight dom/sub vibes of Merlin and Arthur. Or I might be remembering their dynamic wrong. Let's see how it goes on.

Arthur hated Merlin's deference, the way the fight had gone out of him, the absolute, complete subservience that came without so much as a sarcastic yes, sire, angry you bloody pillock or rude gesture. It was an act, though. He knew it was.

Yes, thank you, I hate it too. But damn if it isn't effective. The boys have all of these dumbs eating out of their hands.

For a brief moment, very brief, Arthur considered being on the receiving end of Merlin's rough treatment, to give in to him, and he found that it was a situation he wouldn't entirely mind being in so long as it was Merlin. He wouldn't do it for anyone else but him.

Okay, I concede, they're on equal footing. I got frustrated earlier.

The whole time Merlin was being dragged by Trickler and not using his magic to defend himself and his team, I wanted to scream.

pinn reviews - final fantasy xv

a long ramble about final fantasy fifteen that sort of looks like a review, as written by someone who finished the game fifteen minutes ago and needs to get these words out of his head. spoilers inbound.

i'm a pretty big fan of video games. i don't know what my first was, but it was probably either banjo and kazooie or mario kart 64, at my cousin's house when i was very small. i think that video games as a medium are so interesting, since the fact that video games are inherently interactive changes the way that they tell any story. it's a shame that despite loving video games so much, i'm absolutely terrible at them.

i'm absolute dogshit at video games. whenever i boot up something new, i always play on easy mode because. i'm that bad. unfortunately, this means that a lot of video games are simply. impossible for me to beat. that's fine, as at the moment i live with my good friend lizz, who is certifiably Good at Video Games, and so we've been playing video games together for a little bit now. typically this means that she will actually play the majority of the game while i sit with her and watch, but occasionally i'll have a go, but she'll end up with the controller as soon as a boss fight or puzzle or a mechanic i just can't seem to grasp shows up. we recently played through the entirety of the kingdom hearts series together, and this was an absolute blast of a time. i'm glad to say that i adore kingdom hearts now, and it's become one of my hyperfixations, which you might be able to tell from my icon. but we'd finished the kingdom hearts series, and we were left to move onto something else. we'd also played final fantasy 7 remake, so in my wisdom, i suggested that we play another final fantasy game.

we looked through the ff games that were already purchased on our consoles thanks to lizz's uncle, and eventually, we decided that we should play. all of them. however to start, we were going to play final fantasy xv, 15, and work our way backwards through the mainline, single-player games.

i'd heard that xv wasn't very good, but honestly, i was still quite curious. one person who i'd been following on twitter for years was pretty obsessed with the main party members, to the point where i knew their names and what-not even though i didn't have much of an idea what the game itself was about. i remember watching a video by supereyepatchwolf a few years ago about how the game sucked, but i couldn't remember much of the details, and i knew, based on my obsession with kingdom hearts, that xv had started as a different game called final fantasy versus xiiv. i don't know all the details about versus thirteen, but i do know that it was originally helmed by the creator of my beloved kingdom hearts, mr tetsuya nomura, and that after many years, the vast majority of the game was thrown out, nomura wasn't in charge any more, and the whole thing was rewritten and reworked, which sounds like a fairly rough development cycle. but so what, i don't care about gameplay. i want to play the video game with those cute guys that i see fanart of on twitter, and lizz seemed happy enough to play through it with me.

and so we started final fantasy xv. i've been told that since the game was practically dead on arrival, they threw in a bunch of new content and reworked a lot of the early game before i got my hands on it. so my gameplay started with a scene of the four guys fighting some demon dude on fire and they're all old and grotty. whatever, that cutscene ends and we're put into a combat tutorial. that's over and we're on the road in what looks to be central america, pushing a car.

our four leading lads are noctis, the prince of the lucis empire, his best friend prompto, his bodyguard, gladio, and his chef and other things, ignis. i do quite like the main four members of the party in xv. prompto is quite easily my favourite, voiced by robbie daymond of goro akechi fame and with a bunch of fun little animations and quips that make him very likeable. he gets extremely excited at the idea of riding chocobos and has what i considered the best scene of the game, where he and noctis meet on a motel rooftop and discuss prompto's imposter syndrome, since he's only part of noctis' official retinue as his best friend. noctis is a fairly typical main protagonist, he's in love with a woman he hasn't seen in eight years and needs to go marry her or something, i don't care. gladio is a tough macho man with a mullet who wears leather jackets and wields a greatsword, and is apparently only 22, which is at least 10 years younger than i assumed. ignis is a strategist and chef, who takes on the most authoritative role and constantly tells noctis to not drive his car at night. i was not a fan of ignis at the start, but he grew on me, especially with how hard the game hit me with his personal arc. the four boys are off, driving to noctis' wedding in a different country across the desert when their car breaks down. we then run into the first issue of the game.

cindy is a mechanic. she also has her ass and tits out constantly, like your sleazy uncle's shirt with a naked woman was instead semi-alive as a video game person. she fixes your car and acts fairly sexual and it's just like. why do we have to do this. aren't we over overtly sexualised women in video games who have no reason for the way they dress other than the character designer was horny? whatever, i like women as much as the next guy, but cindy's design just. makes me feel so uncomfortable.

anyways you get to do a little driving around with the boys, until you stay the night before catching the boat to your fiance. overnight, you find out that noctis' kingdom has been basically destroyed by an invading empire called niflheim, and practically everyone noctis knows, including his father, are dead. you learn that noctis and his bride to be are also assumed dead, with noctis hearing his own death announcement on the radio. the game has a bunch of added cutscenes that are actually footage from the three-hour-long prequel movie that came out after the game, are extremely hard to follow and honestly i had no idea what i was looking at. anyways, noctis' family is dead, so it's time to do some hunting sidequests.

that brings us to the combat, i suppose. rather than the turn-based or even active turn-based combat that the series is known for, xv opts for more modern action rpg-styled combat. i was, naturally, terrible at this, but i managed to get around it with the fact that. it is almost impossible to die in this video game, provided you have enough items. the game allows you so much time to heal yourself that there's practically no way to have your entire party wipe unless you're doing absolutely terrible, and even then, your party members will probably try and heal you themselves before that happens. lizz tells me that the combat is boring, you just push the same button over and over and then you win. i do appreciate that, for someone like me who is terrible at reading enemy movements, there is a giant button that pops up on screen that tells you when to push the block button, but even then i was prone to fucking it up. whether that's the bad game design or my terrible gaming abilities is up to you to decide. anyways, the game is fairly easy but has annoying combat, your teammates limit breaks will only land about 50% of the time (or never, if you are gladio) and i was still bad at it, so i didn't have all that much fun.

instead of an active levelling system, the game will only tally your character's level ups when you either make camp or visit a hotel. camping is, in my opinion, the only saving grace of this game. each time you make camp, you get to see the characters doing fun little camping activities together and just hanging out, ignis will cook up a new meal in a dramatic fashion and everyone will compliment him and eat it off their coleman's branded plates, it's just very fun. you also get to see what pictures prompto has taken, which is one of my favourite gameplay features. prompto's passion is photography, and while i support him in this wholeheartedly, his picture taking skills are, quite frankly, awful. the game will randomly take shots while you're on the move, which leaves you with a delightful selection of awkward poses, characters hidden behind bushes, pictures taken while someone is half-dead in combat, and snaps where the natural lighting absolutely makes it impossible to tell what's going on. it's hilarious and going through prompto's collection of photos each night is honestly the best part of the game. we managed to wind up with a few shots that, even despite being scripted events, turned out absolutely terrible, and i will cherish those forever.

anyways, since noctis' father and fiance are dead, that leaves him the king of lucis. the only important person to make it out of the capital alive tells you to drive to the middle of nowhere, where he randomly springs on you. hey. go into a bunch of these dungeons and absorb a bunch of swords, this is your destiny as king and how you will defeat the empire. noctis goes, uh, alright i guess, and you're set loose again to wander around for a bit collecting the 'royal arms'. this plot point wasn't explained well but hey, whatever, we're collecting the glowy swords and that's fine.

you're introduced at some point to ardyn, the main antagonist. he's old, kind of groady and wears a fedora. he's a dick to you and talks about his automobeeel. apparently my friend miri thinks he's hot, she is wrong.

i can't remember what happens specifically but you're told that your fiance is still alive and in fantasy venice, and she's talking to the gods on your behalf to borrow their powers. there's a mission where you follow some purple trees that are electric, and you do that i guess. i enjoyed riding the chocobos around, but couldn't care much for the plot at this point. ardyn leads you to a volcano, where you fight a giant lava god. he tries to step on you and i, a denizen of the internet and with an active fear of foot fetishists, was extremely uncomfortable. noctis becomes friends with foot man and a lightning god who lived in those trees, and ardyn steals your car.

very upset by this, noctis and his gang risk everything to sneak into a military base and steal it back. because this is a video game, this works out fine.

there's a little mining city which is all about Girl Power, because all the Women run the Mining Industry like Girl Bosses, and you hang around there for a bit. because all the women are so Empowered, they wear bikinis all the time with overalls over the top. gladio decides he needs to fuck off for a bit, i have no idea what he does since i haven't played the dlc, and then he comes back with another scar. you hang out with his sixteen year old sister, who has a crush on the engaged and 20-year old noctis, and then you drive her to a lighthouse. when she's in your party, she can't really fight, but she gets a pink chocobo and i thought that was very cute. we turned out own chocobo white and lizz named him 'jones' after a mount she has in ffxiv.

eventually, you have a long boat ride over to fantasy venice. this is the part where the game stops being 'fun with a few issues in combat and a rushed and poorly told story.' the open world, which was a main feature with a bunch of little areas to find where noctis can fish, little hunting sidequests and random photo spots where prompto takes touristy photos, is now gone, and it will not return for the entire rest of the game. you can 'go back in time', but the open world was the most enjoyable part of the game, and it kind of really sucks that the main story doesn't let you have any more freedom like that.

after arriving in fantasy venice, you have a talk with fantasy hillary clinton and beg her to let your girlfriend summon a god into the middle of her city. hillary agrees, and you don't get to meet up with your fiance, because even if the game is constantly telling you how much noctis loves her, there is. barely any interactions between the two in the entire game. from what i can tell, they met when noctis was a child and they haven't seen each other in ten years but are still fantasy dog pen-pals. noctis marrying her was supposed to make an alliance or something like that, but her brother has betrayed her to the army. noctis' girlfriend is also an oracle, which means she can heal people, i guess? everyone talks about how important she is and she's constantly telling people that she needs to use her powers to help noctis but she's practically a non-entity.

as can be expected of most female love interests in a game primarily focused on men, noctis' fiance is killed while summoning a god for noctis to befriend. noct gets very mad about this, and turns super saiyan and kills the god back, but his girlfriend is dead and that's super sad you guys. there's a beautiful prerendered cutscene where she says goodbye to noctis but since we barely know her, and we've only been told over and over that they're in love without anything to actually well, show this, it didn't have much of an impact. fantasy venice is destroyed, and ignis is blinded while trying to help calm the giant raging god.

iggy's blindness and how the game makes you account for this and grow to care for him was one of the highlights, in my opinion, as well as crushingly depressing. while i'm not disabled and have no right to say if this was 'good disabled representation' or anything like that, i believe that the game handles it decently enough. the group falls apart as noctis is upset about his girlfriend, gladio is extremely mad that noctis won't care for ignis, and prompto just wants everyone to get along. there's a mission where gladio constantly yells at you passive aggressive things to noctis about how he's a cunt for running, which is obnoxious, but the character arc itself is fairly strong. when you make camp, ignis can't cook anymore, so everyone eats cup noodles in a depressing ass cutscene. ignis remains in your party for the rest of the game despite his disability, and he doesn't magically regain his sight like other fantasy media would do, which at the very least i think is good. i'm not sure what the opinion of actual disabled people is of the character, considering how often disabled characters are either turned into misery porn to make the abled audience be glad that isn't them and if ignis' arc falls into this trap, but i hope that it wasn't handled too poorly, as that would just be another terrible mark in this game's list of bad moves.

the characters eventually make it to the evil empire's capital, which is abandoned and filled with daemons. the characters learn that ardyn is super evil and taught the king of the empire how to turn humans into daemons, which has now happened to the entire city. the 'magitek suits', presumed to be enchanted armour that fights as the empire's infantry, actually house the souls of the human-turned daemons. honestly i like this as a plot point but the game handles it pretty terribly. there could have been more lead up to this, the explanation is pretty lacking, and prompto's Big Plot Twist is. terribly handled. turns out that prompto was born in the empire and was going to be one of those empty soldier daemons, but he was rescued by people belonging to noctis' empire. not that the game tells you that. instead, prompto goes 'turns out i'm one of ... them' and Does Not Elaborate. The game doesn't tell you shit, not about prompto's past, not about how he feels about this, not about how anyone else feels about this either because the other party members just go 'oh that sucks, good thing you're not evil' and the scene ends. robbie daymond tries so hard to sell these terrible, terrible lines, and it almost entirely fails, i'm so sorry prompto. fortunately because i'm a nosy ass, i read prompto's wikia page and knew the plot twist ahead of time, because i don't think i would have even registered it if i didn't.

anyways everyone in the evil empire is dead and ardyn starts talking about how he's immortal and an ancient king of noctis' country but the gods thought he sucked because he's too evil. i missed most of this because the cats got the zoomies and were dashing across the couch right in the middle of his speech so i can't tell you anything else. noctis tries to get a big magic crystal to fight him and instead. gets schlorped inside.

TEN YEARS LATER

yes then ten years actually pass while noctis is asleep. the game shows this by switching the head on noctis' character model to have a beard, but that's it, no changes in animations or whatever. the sky is permanently night and only one human civilisation remains, the rest destroyed by daemons. as a plot point, this ends up feeling. extremely worthless. why was noctis asleep for ten whole goddamn years? so we can wake up and go 'damn it sucks out here'. but it's barely even a like, incentive to fix everything, because you have a long talk with a former child you were friends with where he talks about how humanity is still going fine and everyone's okay and the world has moved on without you. it feels. pointless. when you meet up with your party members, they are exactly as you left them, only with slightly different character models. there is no change in the voice performance, the character's movements or how they talk to show that they've been without you for ten years. they barely mention it. i'm just. so confused as to why they decided that a ten year timeskip was the way to go? since nothing really changes, couldn't you have made it like, two years? one year? six months?? have the characters react a little more? something??? at least if it was only a year or so i wouldn't have to deal with the fact that noctis looks like norman reedus with his shitty facial hair now.

anyways after that there's a bunch of long and boring boss fights. you fight some dead kings for some reason, your party members get a little bit to talk about how cool they are and how much they love noctis, and then you meet up with ardyn. there's another boring boss fight and god this was only a few hours ago but it's already gone from my head. you summon the gods and the old kings to beat the shit out of him after you both go super saiyan again? there's incredible music but it feels barely earned and just kind of eh. anyways, noctis dies, which was the price of using the crystal of light or whatever the fuck. his ghost marries his fiance's ghost finally, and they smile as they look at one of prompto's pictures. you can pick any picture you want to go here, and then the credits roll, showing all of the pictures you saved of prompto's shots. showing me all the pictures at the end is honestly lovely, but it really only served to remind me of how much more fun the game was in the first half. and that's the end, of final fantasy xv.

so what did i think of the story? it's terribly cobbled together and struggles to get you to feel anything and play out all the plot beats. you feel awful for the countless employees who spent years working on the beautiful cutscenes only to have them be in this game, which sucks and the story barely gets through. there were parts that i enjoyed, mostly the thing about the daemons being people, but honestly the rest of it is a mess. it's hard to follow at the best of times and just awkward and terribly written at the worst. the ending is cheap, and it doesn't feel like you've actually accomplished anything. i left that game feeling numb and empty, sad that i'd wasted so much time to end up with such a colossal failure of a conclusion.

i had fun with the game when it was my four little guys running around doing sidequests and camping together. after the midway point of the game, there's none of that, and you're bogged down into a plot that just pushes you from point a to point b and boring overlong bossfight to boring overlong bossfight. the character moments between your party are a lot of fun, but the second you hit fantasy venice, everything is pretty much on rails and you can't do anything except what the game tells you explicitly to do.

should you play this game? no lol. if anything i've mentioned about the story interests you, you'll be better off watching a lore video or reading the wiki. if you do want to play it after all that, just don't proceed after the myrthril refining quest, it's pretty much all downhill from there. will i play the dlc? unlikely, i think lizz and i will just watch a cutscene movie of those.

this game left me feeling empty and numb and not in a fun way. i wanted, so, so hard to like this game, and it all crashed around me in a beautifully overproduced and confusingly written cascade. i love you prompto, but even your cute little freckly face and terrible photography can't save this trainwreck of a game.

tl;dr - final fantasy xv sucks. i hope that 13, our next ff game, will be better.

"Hyuckkkkiiieeeeeeee!!!!!" You say entering your boyfriends room seeing him sitting on his gaming chair, not really surprised to see him sitting there. He smiles and gets up to give you a quick hug that you don't even get to hug him back "hi baby I'll quickly play a game and give my whole attention to you" he pecks your cheek and sits back on his chair. You look disappointed at him but understanding his situation, he's been working hard with comebacks especially when he's in two active groups. You nod your head and jump on his bed to write some music for your own band's album and playing games to make time go by faster. After 1 and half hour you look at haechan on his third match "Hyuck you've been playing for so long can you now like hang out with me?" you whine stretching your muscles on his bed "wait just one more match" he says without even looking at you, giving all of his focus to the game, you huff and get up to go hang out with the boys in the living room telling hyuck that he'll find you there after he finishes his game. You were honestly kind of disappointed too, you were also and idol who was practising with your band members for your comeback that'll be pretty soon and you're right now using your only free time to hang out with hyuck, otherwise you'd be resting after having an exhausting week with a maximum of 3 hours of sleep everyday. You go to the living room and sit next to Jaehyun who by the way already had a crush on you even before Hyuck confessed to you but he kept his feelings to himself because he didn't want to hurt his best friend. "what's up?" he asks smiling at you "could've been better" you mumble playing with the hem of your shirt looking obviously disappointed which made him frown "where's hyuck?" "playing" you answer in a low voice and he understands it all. The fact that ever since you came 2 hours ago till now Donghyuck didn't spend any time with you really made you think if the game is more important than you.

Mark and Yuta both enter the living room and they start chatting with you and time goes by. You look at your phone 23:45, you've been here for 3 hours and here you are, hanging with your boyfriend's friends while your boyfriend is busy giving his attention to a game that he can play anytime. You message Mino, your best friend and also your first love ever but you already broke up years ago on good terms because you both were so busy and it all went normally, but everyone knows about your past with him and everyone also knows how much he still loves you which you haven't really noticed yet and which hyuck is pretty jealous of. You huff and excuse yourself going to hyuck's room to take your bag. "where are you going" hyuck says getting up from his gaming chair walking towards you "i finished playing" he opens his arms for you for a hug but you ignore him and take your bag from his desk "I'm going " you say without looking at him, he frowns "but you just came" "hyuck I came fucking 3 hours ago but yeah it's probably 15 minutes in your time because nothing wins over your amazing game that you can't live without and now im going back, not home but to fcking practice AGAIN" you walk past him huffing with visible frustration, you were so done, hyuck tries to stay calm at your sudden attitude "who's taking you?" he asks excepting you to say you're going by a taxi so he could offer you a ride "Mino", he frowns "you're not going, I've told you many times to not hang out with him! " he holds your arm and yells but you push his hand away "oh yes I am and you can go back to play your stupid game at lest Mino gives me all his attention" you we're so frustrated because first you're so exhausted, you've been working so hard the entire week, second you were supposed to rest but you came to see your boyfriend and give him your time, third HE ISN'T EVEN APOLOGISING TO YOU FOR IGNORING YOUR EXISTENCE FOR THE PAST 3 ALMOST 4 HOURS?????!!!! AND NOW HE'S REFUSING TO LET HANG OUT WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND??! you thought to yourself feeling so mad. "Hyuck, let's... Let's have a break" you say and walk out of the dorm leaving Donghyuck shocked standing still trying to let the words you just said load, seeing your best friend Mino waiting for you in his car you jump in and drive away. "So where are we going?" Mino asks, you look out of the window right at your boyfriend's room's window feeling your eyes watering "home".

Read your post about Chloe/Rachel and it got me thinking I always thought it was up to the player just what was going on between C & R. Frank/Rachel thing is the same. The letters aren't enough to confirm anything just like C's photos and vague lines aren't. Even the RV scene in Ep4 tells us nothing. In BtS you can decide just what the C/R relationship was. I wish BtS Ep3 didn't cut so much content and connected more dots but post-end you can still decide what happens between games. Thoughts?

well, yes and no, i think you can only decide what happens between the games to a certain extent! you can fill in blanks. those are certainly up to our interpretation – the things we don’t already know. but i don’t think chloe saying that she crushed on rachel/loved rachel is vague at all, especially when you have all the mounting subtext behind it. i think it becomes very obvious and canon and nonnegotiable at that stage. and the rv scene in ep 4 told us… some useful things, really. it told us that chloe loved rachel, and it showed us frank getting mad at chloe, saying, “you don’t know shit, chloe! you were part of her problem! always trying to take her away from me… always!”. like, while the content of these lines can’t be trusted to be true… i think there’s important stuff to unpack when considering them. frank thinks chloe stole rachel from him – when it’s likely chloe ‘had’ rachel in the first place. they’re best friends, ffs. rachel wasn’t honest with frank and kept him in the dark about having a relationship with chloe, so when frank saw that chloe was super into rachel and trying to hang out with her all the time obv, he saw that as a threat to his relationship (whatever that may be) with rachel. he lashes out. claims chloe’s stealing her. even though that’s not the whole truth, it demonstrates that whatever chloe and rachel had – it was enough to be threatened by. his raging jealousy leads to him blaming chloe for rachel’s issues, stating that chloe was rachel’s problem, which, uh. i believe is a lot of projection on frank’s part. he even apologises for that in episode 5, saying that he knows why rachel dug chloe so much, and stuff. he knows that rachel loves chloe, i think. but i think he’s been exposed to some of rachel’s weaker moments – getting involved with him in the first place, for a start lmao – and sees her internal conflict as… something chloe’s inflicted. he thinks his and rachel’s relationship was perf, while p much everyone else in AB thinks rachel/frank was bullshit (nathan, chloe…), and he thinks chloe’s presence and her own dependency on rachel is the issue. when, it’s not. rachel’s in love with chloe – says chloe – so of course rachel’s going to be hella conflicted and always thinking about chloe even with frank. frank just directs his rage towards chloe, since his own relationship w rachel didn’t work out. so yeah, what i’m saying is… while this scene doesn’t confirm any explicit relationships, it gives us insight into characters’ thoughts on relationships, and that gives us massive clues and helps us piece together what certain relationship dynamics were like? idk, it’s just interesting stuff to think about, so i don’t think it’s valid to say the rv scene “tells us nothing”. it tells us some… messy, conflicting things that we can sift through and try n work out

also wrt thoughts on bts… the option for the player to decide what kind of relationship chloe and rachel had was always something i was wary of, or resented, ever since the 20 min gameplay of episode 1 released… i don’t have much to say about it really, i don’t have any thoughts other than i believe they were canonically romantically involved and nothing deck nine wrote can change that. i was super mad about it at the time actually, annoyed at the prospect of them erasing what i considered to be a canon lesbian love integral to the plot of life is strange and understanding of chloe and rachel as characters. but yeah i guess i don’t consider bts to be canon really? i think of amberprice as much more slowburn, and i really don’t like where bts went with the damon/sera/james/fire story in ep 3. and don’t like the blackwell inconsistencies. i see bts as a kinda fun, kinda cute, kinda sad, then uh, straight up weird, au!
