Superhero - Stereo Fuse

For once, I song I didn't forget the name to, though this one is legendary to me because of it being used in an "AMV" (in air quotes cause it wasn't really an AMV, but it wasn't really a fancam so idk what to call it) for the character Marco from the TV adaptation of the Animorphs series by KA Applegate and Michael Grant.

Maschin - Bilderbuch

This song and the one after it are more legendary because of the memories I associate them with regarding the German classes I took in high school. My old teacher would always get so enthusiastic about his lessons and making sure that none of the students were being "schmoogles" (a word he made up that was nebulously defined at best), and I'll always remember him roasting the ever loving fuck out of the main singer in this song's music video. Bro has that right amount of punchable face. Peak backpfeifengesicht.

Es war doch kein Fiebertraum

Seit Jahren versuche ich, mehrere Bücher zu finden. Damit meine ich, dass ich regelmäßig mit verschiedensten Suchbegriffen Google und vor allem die Google Bildersuche bemühe.

Eines davon habe ich letztens über eine Wiederverkaufsseite für Bücher gefunden, in dem ich auf das mögliche Erscheinungsjahr und das Genre eingeschränkt habe (das Techniktagebuch berichtete).

Nun gibt es aber noch zwei weitere Bücher, die ich gerne finden würde. Wie das erste auch handelt es sich um Bücher, die nie in meinem Besitz waren, die ich aber regelmäßig aus der Bücherrei auslieh und die sich dementsprechend in mein Hirn brannten. Das eine war ein Bastelbuch, allerdings erinnere ich mich vor allem an sehr aufwändige Bastelprojekte, die dringend ein Erwachsener hätte machen müssen, deswegen habe ich das Buch immer nur angeguckt, aber nie daraus gebastelt.

Ich schränke also auf Bastelbuch ein und suche dann erst die Jahre 1980 bis 1989 (Sprache Deutsch, Hardcover) erfolglos ab, dann ändere ich den Zeitraum auf 1975 bis 1983 und finde das Buch "Spielen, Lachen, Selbermachen" von Marie-Luise und Stefan Lemke-Pricken aus dem Jahr 1979. Auf dem Cover sieht man sehr schön eines dieser beeindruckenden Bastelprojekte. Das Buch gibt es günstig antiquarisch, ich denke, es wird demnächst eine Bestellung rausgehen.

Das zweite Buch war ein Bilderbuch, bei dem ich mir nie ganz sicher war, ob es nicht ein sehr festsitzender Fiebertraum war, die Geschichte habe ich nämlich grob so im Kopf, dass ein Bär mit weiteren Freunden bis zum Mond hochklettert und dann von irgendwas erschreckt wird und auf einer langen Rutsche wieder auf die Erde zurückrutscht. Suchen nach Bär, Teddy und Mond liefern immer falsche Ergebnisse, ich habe das Buch auch als leicht surreal abgespeichert und weiß nicht, wie viel sich da im Laufe der Jahrzehnte in meinem Kopf verdreht hat.

Mit der neuen Methode also Genre Bilderbuch und dann suche ich die Jahre 1975 bis 1985 und schränke immer auf einen Begriff ein. "Teddy" bringt nichts, "Bär" und "Mond" auch nicht. Eventuell war es auch kein Bär, sondern etwas anderes, ich probiere es mal mit "Hase", who knows, aber auch das hilft nicht weiter. Dann habe ich einen Geistesblitz und suche nach "Leiter", denn in meiner Erinnerung klettern die Tiere eine Leiter hoch. BINGO!

Es gibt nur ein Suchergebnis, "Der große Rutsch" von Ray und Catriona Smith aus dem Jahr 1977, aber das ist genau das, was ich gesucht habe. Ich muss nur die Bilder abgleichen und weiß sofort, dass ich richtig liege und meine Erinnerung kein Fiebertraum war. Mein Irrtum war, dass die Tiere zum Mond kletterten, denn das passiert tatsächlich nicht, sie steigen nur eine unfassbar lange Leiter hoch, müssen zwischendurch kotzen, werden von Flugzeugen und Hexen gestört und landen dann auf einer Plattform, von der sie runterrutschen.

Das Buch ist leider eine Rarität und daher nicht ganz so günstig zu bekommen, aber ich vermute, dass ich auch hier nicht lange warten werde, weil ich wirklich dringend noch einmal die ganze Geschichte lesen muss.

Ich kann nicht glauben, dass innerhalb weniger Tage alle meine verzweifelten Rechercheversuche der letzten Jahre von Erfolg gekrönt wurden. Ein Hoch auf die Zeitraumsuche auf digitalen Gebrauchtwarenumschlagsplätzen! Was wäre ohne sie nur aus mir geworden?

opinions on the new two Bilderbuch songs?

I have to admit that their last few albums haven’t done much for me personally, so while I am still listening to everything up to and including Magic Life, I wasn’t even aware they had songs this new.

THAT SAID it was really interesting to see what they’ve been up to musically. Thoughts:

Softpower — A modern take on the psychedelic sound of Sgt. Pepper Hearts Club Band mixed with the sound of 00s children’s show intros (think American Dragon or something? Pfefferkörner even? It’s the beat I’m pretty sure but I can’t put my finger on it)

Dino — Same, but less psychedelics.

I appreciate the lyrics in some way, it’s not as much of the repetitive minimalistic Denglish that to me always sounds like a child repeating a line from a song it half understood ad infinitum (sie ist up to date ich bin up to date etc etc we get it). It’s still not as fun as it used to be, but the roots are still there I suppose? Watered down with beer, it feels like. A little slurred.

In conclusion: ….it’s interesting. I think both songs would probably shine if listened to late at night, when realities are blurring a bit. But in broad daylight they don’t do much for me.
