Big Finish should play nice with the rest of the DWEU like Arcbeatle has done a lot for reuniting the EU after the second great BBV collapse shatter relations between the nations of the EU and whilst it is yet to unite with Cutaway Comics, Obverse have allied with both Nations of EU thus bring them all together. The only great missing parts are Candy Jar, Realtime and Big Finish I reckon sooner or latter Candy Jar and Realtime will be brought in to the Second Great DWEU alliance but Big Finish steadfastly refuses to join in. Just Because they can stick in Big Letters Doctor Who on all their stories advertising that they and they Alone (except for the BBC itself) have the rights to Doctor Who does not mean they are more important. If Big Finish Unite with the the Great Alliance and the other Factions of the EU we could see cooperation not seen since the DWM VNA alliance in the 90’s. Once Big Finish joins DWM and the NSA’s will have to also join lest they be out competed. And when United this great nations can lobby TV Who to have more EU characters on screen. We could See Frobisher, Fitz, Compassion, Bernice Summerfield, Cwej, Iris Wildthyme, Faction Paradox and even the 10,000 dawns making their first on screen debuts.
Instead of the Nations of the EU fighting like this they should come together and unite not become one nation but many nations all working together to unite Doctor Who under and Single great Banner of mutual Cooperation. We Will make the DWEU equivalent to The EU except not bound by European DWEU a producers only.

My drawing of the Terra Nova's engine room is informed by a model of the Discovery's at Discovery Point, a cutaway illustration in a London paper in 1910, the ship's refit plans, and the Berkeley ferry in San Diego.

[ID: Two panels from the Questionable Content update for February 8, 2023. The first shows Marten and a short Cubetown scientist in front of a wall, on which a robot Tyrannosaurus rex skull wearing a blue party hat with yellow dots has been mounted.
Marten, looking up: Robot dinosaur skull?
Scientist, in italics and slightly smaller font, looking over at him: Ssh. If you wake it up it sings showtunes at you.
The second panel shows them walking away and into another part of Cubetown.
Robot Dinosaur Skull, off-panel, in all capital letters: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING? SINGING THE SONG OF ANGRY MEN
Marten, covering his ears and looking back, bolded: Why?
Scientist, covering their ears with an angry expression: It’s not my job to know everything!
End ID]
This is my new favorite two panels from a QC comic for... a while. Nice.

another one of these posts lol... sketches vs final. not much changed for these ones, i kind of went into them with a very solid mental image already in my head. all of these were done start to finish in procreate
thoughts below the cut
horse fight .... this is based off a really really beautiful sky i saw while driving home one evening. i'm really proud of getting the colours i saw exactly right, this kind of greenish yellow fading to dark blue and with grey clouds low over it that looked very dark against the yellow by the horizon, but very pale against the dark blue.
i thought it would be a cool backdrop to draw a scene i've been thinking about for a while. The little cartoony horses are there to provide some tonal whiplash but also because these are two immortal shapeshifters who can fight violently without it being a huge deal. the little horses represent the actual gravity of the fight (that is, kind of a slap fight between two drama queens) which contrasts with the visuals of two animals brutally tearing at eachother. also i got the two horses at the bottom mixed up, Pascal is the one with the skinny plumed tail and Macha has a more traditional horse tail and i put them on the wrong sides.
i had a LOT of trouble shading this. i didn't want the horses to be too shiny but that meant a much lower contrast in shading and even with my screen brightness turned up i could barely see what i was doing. but i wanted it to read as realistic. mixed results i think. if i did it again i might try a different shading style because this one didn't really do it for me
--
spooky van!!! the post i deleted by accident (rip. i will repost it soon). this is a picture of the barrow (the field) taking a different shape - in this case a cool van. the van contains every single thing the field does (including the human victims that get lost in there...) but compressed down into a manageable shape. the void is Pascal because the field is inside him. he did this for his human bf to provide novel way to travel through the Otherworld. don't ask how this works like, spatially, because the answer is: i don't do hard magic systems in this setting
i loooove shading things with pencil hatching and i really like contrasting it with smooth colours/shading so that's mainly what i did here. it was simple enough. the van is of course heavily referenced and i wish i had been able to stylise it a little more.. maybe next time. i want to draw a kind of cutaway illustration of the van showing exterior and interior (like an old blueprint schematic), which i might use as a cover for the book/comic/whatever but that will require a very intimidating level of precision so i think i'll work up to that.
--
RUA magazine. this is my third time doing a rua magazine cover (first time posting tho). this is an in-universe magazine distributed throughout the Otherworld to an audience of fairies. in the sketch, the illustation was originally the King of Pentacles tarot card (the pentacle being the disco ball). but i decided to make a different King of Pentacles card for him instead, since I try hard to move away from symmetrical composition for the tarot cards (it's boring). so i repurposed this one into another magazine cover. like i said Pascal is a self-absorbed attention whore and has a habit of giving bullshit interviews just so that he can be on the cover as much as possible. he dresses like this all the time (the year is 2017)
the disco ball took 15 years off my life and it's not even the first disco ball i've drawn! i finished my actual king of pentacles card before i finished the rua cover sketch, so i can show u this
Tumblr media
which is much better even if i did reference so heavily that it isn't exactly stylised. but this card needs some serious revision before i even think about posting it. i'm just not happy with his face.
original intent was for it be mysterious with emphasis on the neon lights but it ended up far more suggestive than i expected. that's life!

If we’re going off of the “All genloss deaths were real and shot through a silly filter”:
-CHARLIE: Survives DAY1. The death as the Slime Demon was staged and he was taken away offscreen through special effects. His real death however happens on DAY2 when Ranboo performs surgery on him in the Second Puzzle Room (Surgeon Simulator) this is also the first time we see the red camera (the set without the silly) for the first time. The ‘Charlie’ Ranboo was talking to in the second room was his dead body with the SFX put in. I also think his voice was pre-recorded (like the cutaways on DAY1) before that -which makes everything even more fucked up knowing he was recording lines to replace himself in case he died. This ALSO also implies that Snowfall made Charlie eat ?? A bunch of micro plastics back when he was made the protagonist which I think is very funny cuz why??? He got a whole mouse trap and hotwheels car in him dude 😭
-SNEEG: Survives DAY1. Like Charlie we see him get taken away offscreen for DAY2. We see that red camera again as he tries to get away during the second room through a bathroom break but Snowfall brainwashes him. The original plan was supposed to be one person would survive the second room but by what happened. A second person (Sneeg) would be picked to survive and essentially act as an enforcer to make sure the other actors stay in line. He ultimately dies keeping himself and Austin at the other side of the wall, crushing them to death in Seventh Puzzle Room (Hole in the Wall).
-NIKI: Is shot twice offscreen by Jerma in the Fourth Puzzle Room (Candy Crush) DAY2. Theorise the game masters (Charlie DAY1, Jerma DAY2) like Sneeg were there to supervise the actors. Theorise the first shot at Niki was a deliberate mercy shot to keep her quiet but alive. It’s implied through watching Sneeg get brainwashed that Jerma was terrified that the same would happen to him if he failed - the second shot was reluctant but fatal.
-VINNY: Burnt by lasers and blunt head trauma in the Fifth Puzzle Room (Oceans 11 Heist) DAY2. Kinda a weird one I think they actually did try to throw Vinny over the lasers but it both wasn’t far enough and too high. He’s burnt by lasers but we also see him hit his head on the ceiling which might have been the final blow rather than a comically small anvil.
-ETHAN: murdered offscreen in the Sixth Puzzle Room (Top Model) DAY2. Similar case to Niki he went backstage where he wasn’t supposed to go (the blacklight signs just extra warning to the actors NOT to use that way in)
-AUSTIN: Crushed to death by a wall in the Seventh Puzzle Room (Hole in the Wall) while being held back by Sneeg on DAY2.
-JERMA: Murdered offscreen in the final room (Mall of America entrance) DAY2. Snowfall found out about the recording Jerma was going to use to help Ranboo find the truth after witnessing the deaths and they killed him.
-FRANK (bonus): Unknown if he was an actual person or a prop (hard to tell atp). If he was he’d be long dead before DAY1. He could have been Sneeg’s friend, he could have been a staff member at Snowfall who rebelled and tried to escape. Those ‘slime’ parts on Charlie’s set on DAY1 might have even been Frank’s body parts.

How did you narrow down what story you wanted to tell out of all your characters/worldbuilding/etc? I want to write a graphic novel of my own, but I have so much world and not enough space in comic format to spill it all (which I feel a compulsive need to do.) How do you tell necessary worldbuilding information about biology and the world of RTTS to your readers without just spitting a bunch of exposition all over a page?
Here’s my thoughts on the matter, hope they’re helpful:
Worldbuilding IS narrative. Plot out when you reveal information like you do with story events. You create intrigue and mystery just by showing an interesting aspect of the world and not immediately explaining it. If you connect emotional reveals with worldbuilding reveals, you can heighten both.
Assume readers are smart. Mention or show the most weird and interesting parts of a whole, let them connect the dots.
Decide which parts of the world you want to show off, and route the plot and character roles so they intersect with those details. If something doesn’t fit into the story you’re working on, save it for a short story or an aside.
Include asides. Manga artists have it figured out, inter-chapter worldbuilding notes and 4-koma comics are great. Readers who don’t care can skip them, readers who are curious get more info. I prefer putting these in between chapters because it spreads it out, when it’s all in a blob at the end it feels like homework.
Show vs tell: I can only provide a comics perspective on this. Telling is fine, but avoid having a single “clueless” character who doesn’t know anything for the other characters to explain things at. If it feels unnatural for a character to mention something, find a different way to include the information. Don’t just have the characters talk about The Thing, show them participating In The Thing.
You can show what’s normal for the setting by having characters who deviate from the normal. They require explanation within the setting, thus the world is described in how they interact with it. I use this to the point of abuse.
Another comics-specific thing, but I like to make panels into diagrams and labelled cutaways, and insert mini-panels and non-diagetic bg elements during dialog to show what the characters are talking about. It can add visual interest and humor, and isn’t too obtrusive if you use it judiciously.

Hi Puff! Idk if anyone has asked you this yet but what are your thoughts on the god of war game series? Are they actually more "accurate" about the greek mythology then LO? xD
oh lord, I'm def not a good person to ask about this question because I haven't played through all the original God of War games (though it makes me laugh to think about them because watching my oldest brother play the first game when I was like 7 years old was the first time I'd ever seen video game boobies LOL) but considering it's just a hack and slash game in which you brutally murder the gods... ima give it a big noooo on that one LOL it's about as accurate as LO in that it's more about spectacle and drama than it is about actually being accurate to the myths they're based on lmaoo
As for the Norse series of games, I actually HAVE played both God of War 2018 and Ragnarok and loved them both, though I'm not as well versed in Norse mythology so I also can't say if what they take from Norse myth is accurate. Obviously I know that Atreus/Loki has zero relation to fictional character Kratos from Greece and I have basic understanding of general concepts like Yggdrasil and the nine realms among other things like that, but the finer details regarding the stories of the characters themselves I'm not as brushed up on. Hella great storytelling though and I appreciate the lengths they went to to make it feel like a Norse-myth-inspired environment, even down to the vocabulary and terms used.
Just like with LO, you shouldn't be taking any of what God of War does or says at face value. If you like the games (or LO), use it as an opening hook to get more into the actual myths if they interest you. But definitely don't use them as any sort of credible source LOL
Now that I'm typing out my thoughts on this though, I think the biggest difference between GoW and LO (one that makes GoW far superior to it) is that the creators of GoW never once led their audience to believe that they were more than what they were, a hack and slash video game inspired by specific myths. What you see is what you get with GoW, but LO - and Rachel - constantly feel like they're actually trying to be taken seriously and that's what makes it all the worse when their storytelling is godawful and the amount of actual "myth" they have in the comic amounts to as much as a Family Guy cutaway gag. Just completely directionless and uninspired to the point you wonder why it's even an Greek myth retelling to begin with. At least GoW fully immerses itself in the myths their games are based on and has a shitload of fun with it, with LO it'll just source some copy pasted Princeton document or lazily tell some mythological metaphor that has nothing to do with the overarching plot so that it can remind you "hey this is a Greek myth retelling!" before getting back to its bland Keeping Up with the Kardashians romance. The mythological "inspiration" in LO feels more like tired lip service at this point rather than actual inspiration, which is really bitterly ironic considering Rachel used to tote around calling herself a "folklorist" and claiming that everyone else's knowledge of Greek myth compared to hers was "basic af".
TL ; DR: The biggest difference between GoW and LO in their retellings is humility IMO.
