skipping through the gacha animation, the girl sighed. "what shitty rng luck." oh boohoo, same old boring routine. she'd save up how many crystals only to waste it on a duplicate. someone get the tissues because that's just so sad!
she closed the game to wallow in sadness as she sank into her comfortable bed. she opened her calendar, wait a damn minute-
isn't it the entrance ceremony tomorrow? ohhhh... great! a new bunch of newbies who haven't allocated their skill points yet! hopefully the new ignihyde students aren't gonna be a massive pain in the ass.. well, ignihyde doesn't have it as bad as heartslabyul at least (like seriously who let heartslabyul be so overpopulated...)

"well, it does not justify your absence from the ceremony!" "i get it. I just don't want to attend in person tho."
the person on the other line of the call only sighed, why is she always like this?

"yeah yeah." "the ceremony should be starting by now." rubia mentions "welp, cheers to the next generation of level 1 newbies" yowa joked as she hung up.
logging onto her account to attend the ceremony online, it seemed like it was approximately 9 minutes from starting.
let's watch the newbies join the game for the first time, shall we?

okay. wow. that ceremony was... fucking wild.
yowa needed to turn off whatever device she was using right now because what the actual fuck was that. so, a random student from another world basically isekaid and triggered a level 5 boss which was a fire-breathing cat (not the weirdest but definitely weird.) that started committing arson? this ceremony was a goddamn mess, but it was an entertaining mess.
after observing the ceremony she had screen recorded over and over, she couldn't help but shrug her shoulders and feel a little bit bad for the newbie. maybe it was because they had to live in ramshackle of all places, but eh. they'll adjust to this world despite being magicless.
she was typing all of this down until she heard a familiar voice coming from the other side of the door "nee-san! the ignihyde welcome celebration is about to begin!" yowa chuckled as she heard the robotic, but lively voice called for her "yeah... give me a moment"
i guess she can wonder more about that newbie later. for now, she'll enjoy her life the way it is.

Savior. Arthur Morgan X Reader pt 1
WARNINGS: RAPE. VIOLENCE.
A/N: I know this is completely different from what I usually write. Sorry. And I don't remember specific dialogue from the game so sorry for that too. It's a little bit different than what actually happened. Not proofread.

Arthur's horse trotted through the hot, humid swamp, leaving dusty hoof prints behind.
He held the reigns tightly as he rode past a small house.
"Well hello!" A voice with a strong country accent spoke loudly.
"Howdy" Arthur replied back, without as much enthusiasm as the stranger. He tipped his hat to the man and slowed down to a walking pace.
"Well... I have some food inside, you look hungry... Come on in!" The stranger exclaimed holding his worn wooden door open.
Arthur squinted his eyes. They man was small and skinny... So he was easy to take out if anything happened.
So he got down.
He walked up to the porch of the stranger's house, taking in his surroundings.
"Just in here, I've got a nice meal cooked"
"I don't smell no-"

He woke up to feel his head pounding and his arms and legs pulled tight. He tried to move them but he found them cuffed to the bed. He must have been knocked out.
His mouth was dry, he tried to swipe his tongue across his teeth but he felt cloth instead of what he was used to.
His eyes scanned across the room. Panic slowly rising in him.
Suddenly the stranger bursted through the back door to the house.
"You're awake!" He exclaimed, immediately speed walking over to Arthur.
The stranger threw his legs over Arthur's lap and straddled him.
Arthur's eyes widened and he froze in place. He didn't know why. It was unusual for him to.
"Good boy for being all quiet... This isn't gonna be pretty for you... Every time you move or try to yell...or make any noise...I'll hurt you." He said grabbing a knife off the night stand.
Arthur's eyes wandered in panic, searching for a way out of the situation.
"No, no, no... Eyes on me... You're gonna be my doll" the stranger said slapping Arthur across his face.
Arthur immediately started to thrash his body in an attempt to at least hurt the stranger. But it didn't work
All he felt was his shirt being ripped off and a sharp, stinging pain run across his chest.
"STOP MOVING" the stranger yelled out as he continued to cut deeper into his already abused skin.
Arthur stopped moving once he realized this was only going to get him more hurt.
His breathing grew faster
"Bad doll!" The stranger yelled out as he felt a slap across the face.
Arthur felt numb. He didn't know what to feel. He didn't know if he should be angry. Scared. Hopeless
He didn't know how to escape. There was no escape. He was tied up completely. The cuffs were too strong for him to even try to break. And the stranger had all the control. There was no hope. He had to accept what was going to happen.
"Now... You're going to be a good boy and take this... You won't gag and you won't move" the stranger ordered.
Arthur's eyes widened, knowing exactly what was going to happen next.
He watched as the stranger removed his overalls.
His mind went blank... Except for one thought.
No... Please god no
The stranger sat before Arthur nude. His cock in hand.
He gave it a few tugs before crawling over to Arthur.
"Quiet now doll... Don't wanna get hurt do you" the stranger said as he pulled the gag out of Arthur's mouth.
He wasted no time. He forced Arthurs jaw open and slid himself inside.
Arthur immediately gagged at the horrible feeling.
The stranger picked the knife back up and pressed it against arthurs chest. "Bad boy" he spoke as his sliced a long deep cut across his chest.
Arthur shut his eyes, he tried to regulate his breathing but he couldn't.
The stranger began to thrust into his mouth, hitting the back of his throat every time he bucked his hips.
Tears began to form at the corners of Arthur's eyes, his throat ached badly, his wrists and feet hurt, the cuts on his chest bled and burned.
"Good, good... Take it just like that" the stranger moaned as he yanked on Arthur's hair.
Slowly all Arthur heard was loud ringing in his ears. His vision blurred
Suddenly he heard 2 muffled bangs.
And his vision went black.

I FINALLY GOT MY GRUBBY LITTLE HANDS ON SOAP'S JOURNAL!!!
Oh boy oh boy oh boy, guys there is so much in this bad boy that NO ONE has mentioned!! The SoapRoach content in here is off the walls!! Why is all I ever see the like 2 moments Soap mentioned Ghost??? There so much Roach and Price and Gaz content here, so here are some random bits from Soap's journal:

Embarrassed that Price helped him up and caught him from the plane during Crew Expendable mission
Mentions needing to buy Price "a bottle" as a gift afterward
Upset he missed the first shot on the helicopter during Hunted, says it was "inexcusable, especially considering SAM'S shoot themselves"
Put into the infirmary by a dog bite, too embarrassed to tell Gaz or Price (only Nikolai knows)
Call's Price's mustache both a "dick-tickler" and "Price's precious whiskers"
Blames himself for Gaz, Griggs, and Price's deaths (he believes Price died on the high way) and tries to come up with other ways they could have moved through that would have let the men live
Get's stuck/angry over the image of Zhakaev's blood mixing with Gaz's on the bridge

Final thoughts:
Omg my husband
He struggles a lot a lot with guilt from very early on
Put a shit ton of pressure on himself and blames himself for anything that goes wrong. Especially blames himself for the deaths of other characters.
Seems to have had a struggle/struggles with coping with that guilt. It appears to have manifested a bit in struggles with pain killers and alcohol that he manages through almost compulsively taking care of Price's pistol.
Attempts to cope through horse racing (and gambling?) But what ends up working is smoking.
Definitely had a lot of care for his team, particularly Roach seemed to get a lot of his attention.
Much closer to Nikolai then I think people realize. Nik saves his life numerous times and the two work together even with Price not around. Definitely helps to fill in some gaps on why Nik sticks around at the end of mw2
Looks up to Price so very much. Like stars in his eyes this man can do no wrong type of thing.

ok, here is ida. i draw her based on the old player model but in the new player model she looks a bit different. I use this chunky highlight hair because it somewhat hides the fact that her ears stick out now when wearing a hat/helmet (this pisses me off the most about the new characters). but she used to have this black hair, and of course dark eye makeup. it's a lot like what i do irl

Ida Riverwood! I don't ever want to change it. I actually really like it and I'm surprised my kid self was smart enough to choose that

you can kinda see how i dress her in those pics of her, usually a dark color scheme and yes I coordinate it with the horse. I actually dress her in a lot of sweaters and typically with proper breeches and tall boots and helmet as if it were a regular english outfit irl. I occasionally dress her and her horse in western gear, or use streetwear if she's off the horse
23. Which Druid Circle do you prefer? Is there a reason for your preference? Is it tied to the Soul Rider of the Circle?
you may be surprised, but I like the moon circle just a smidgen more than the sun circle, though they are in close competition. I just love the aspects of both of them, visions & teleportation. I find it so interesting and quite applicable to real life, at least personally, because of how I experience life with PTSD. it is easy to convey my mind through comics about the powers of these circles.
20. What part of the Main Story is your favorite?
oh my, if you can count the storyline in SSL as a predecessor to SSO, i would say Anne's first trip to Pandoria to save Concorde. in SSO, it's surprising but seeing Anne without saving her must have been my favorite. I was disappointed with the actual saving Anne quest, but seeing Pandoria for the first time in SSO was an experience I won't forget, even though I prefer the atmosphere of Pandoria in SSL
11. How many horses do you own in total? Did it use to be more, or are you still missing a few?
oh my. 64. I once sold the green whinfell because i found it so ugly. But I felt so bad and rebought it a year or two ago.

aight [cracks knucles] situation asks, gimme uhhh [rolls d20] solo 11 and 24 for avi kuris and tyk, and group 8 for the coyotes natch
11. Your character has to spend a whole day indoors. What do they get up to?
AVITUS: Spending time indoors isn't a challenge for him actually - especially if he gets to pick one (or both!) of his boyfriend options to keep him occupied. On the schedule is sleeping in late, snuggling up to only half pay attention to the TV and ordering in enough food to propel them back into a food coma. And failing those options. Fucking. He's a big fan of that as a way of spending the day indoors.
KURIS: This actually would be a challenge for him!!! In later years, it gets easier as he gets more paranoid and arthritis catches up with him, but on the whole, he actually likes going outdoors and simply being outside; it's something he got used to on Omega but in the years after that, he's very happy to feel the sun on his face again. Realistically though, baking with an audiobook or talk-show playing softly to keep him from being too alone with his thoughts is a great way to while away the hours - even better if he can convince one or both of his family members to hang out with him whilst working.
TYKSE: To be honest, persuading her not to spend all day inside is more of a challenge than the opposite; Ora might have shitty bandwidth but by god she's still gonna find a way to make gaming with her extranet friends work. If her parents wanted her to, gasp, see the sun periodically? Well maybe they should've picked some place to live where she'd be able to have more friends. (They do, in fact, make that a reality eventually, and she STILL spends all day inside if she can get away with it.)
24. Your character has been challenged to a duel by a skilled fighter. What incentive would convince them to accept? How would they prepare for the fight? Do you think they would win? (bonus: which other character do you think the challenger could be?)
AVITUS: Getting him not to accept would be a bigger challenge tbh. This asshole loves a fight and he's ready for it 24/7.
Equally, there's pretty good chances he's winning. Even if it's not in a domain he's all that practiced with, there's a lot to be said for just being feral and hard to kill (he's made a career out of combining those talents). Preparation is for smarter people, just going in like a wild animal has always served him well.
KURIS: Honestly , similar to Avitus, he's pretty much always dtf (down to (fucking) fight). That said, he might think twice if it's specifically meant to be a fight with a weapon he's not familiar with. Give him enough time and he's learnin' to fight that way though! Aside from that, threatening a child or just plain insulting him or anyone he cares about is guaranteed to get him ready to have a go at it.
TYKSE: Kiddo inherits one thing from her mother (well, two if you include the whole being asari thing) and that one thing is a shred of self preservation. Or at least, she got it somewhere, her mom has less sense than her though. Either way, there's next to nothing that'll entice her into a fight. Which is sensible because she's been coddled enough by her parents that she's pretty shit in a fight. Not a bad shot if you give her time and, sure, she can get herself out of trouble if backed into a corner but she's not a soldier and ain't that a luxury.
8. Your characters have been invited to a fancy dress ball, and their costumes must fit a group theme. What do they wear?
I'm legally obliged to say that they all come as "back end of pantomime horse". That's my answer. All 3 of them are the back end of a horse.

Artificial Intelligence.
TL;DR. I think AI and Neural Networks are really cool as a technology, but the way they are currently being used is terrible and needs to be stopped.
You don't have to read this, I just wanted to get my thoughts down on paper. Read more block because it's long.
I don't know if there's a formalized definition, but, for the most part, AI is any program or system that can create the illusion of decision-making.
In recent times, it's been used to refer generative AI specifically, but many things could be classified as AI. Minecraft's mobs have to make decisions on how to move. In fighting games, a CPU opponent must decide how to approach the player. Both of these and many others I, and many others, have called AI before. "AI opponents." "The cow's AI is making it spin on the fence." (Weeee!)
More recently, AI is closely employed alongside Neural Networks and Machine Learning. Which is like, basically just a digital simulation of exactly how our brains work. Which I genuinely think is really really cool! You're creating something that can appear smart from only feeding it random numbers and telling if is it's doing good or bad. And from there it eventually becomes something. It's a beautiful execution of mathematics.
Now, somebody realized that, finding data to compare to for this "good" or "bad" was pretty hard to find in bulk. So people made their own data sets. Until those weren't enough. Now, we steal artwork. And herein lies my first problem with AI, as does most people. It's one thing to look at another person's artwork and be like: "oh, that's cool, I want to try copying their art style." I would have no issue with that. (And even so, if I try to copy someone's style, I will always say who.) But that's not what it is. It's taking someone's (or rather, many people, but that doesn't make this any better), and sitting down in a metaphorical classroom to study this artwork as your one and only basis in "learning to draw."
This is basically beating a dead horse, but, like, it's very very sad for me to see something I cared deeply about, (I loved watching Sethbling's videos on 'training a network to beat Mario Bros.' and similar videos, long before the whole AI thing), and now it's become perverted because it's built on a throne of lies, as the saying goes.
My second problem with AI, and while still an echo of much I've seen elsewhere, slightly less so, is that it seems to be a perfect insistence on it being generative, when you could use this technology so much better. I want AI to assist artists, not work against them. What if your paint bucket tool could tell when there was a 1-pixel gap in the fill and, even if not "smart closing" the gap, at least be able to find where it is, because those can be bloody annoying to spot. Or what if you could pull two strokes apart that you put on the same layer 20 minutes ago and didn't notice until now? What if you could just tap in an area to mask your shading brush without carefully lassoing the part you want? There's so many many better ways this technology could be getting used, and I hate it. I hate it so much, that the way it's implemented is "replace," and not "help."

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
Ough, this is a tough question. I'm bad at seeing these kinds of patterns in my own stuff. BUT I think all my fics are some form of friends to lovers or enemies to lovers (or they are intended to be eventually if the fic is pre-relationship).
I'm also pretty sure I use way too many idioms. Like excessively, problematically so. It’s also kinda how I talk though so that’s my excuse 😅
And I really hope that all my fics, even the angsty ones, have moments of humour in them. I know there's almost always something that’s made me laugh out loud while writing, and so I hope anyone reading it also finds it at least mildly amusing.
There's probably more, but I’ll leave it there for now.
4. What detail in [insert fic] are you really proud of?
Am I supposed to specify the fic? Let me know if you had a one in particular in mind for me to think about. I’ll just pick a couple off the top of my head for now.
I like the description in my levihan fic where Levi and his horse wipe out because I had a wreck almost exactly like that when I was working on a ranch. Actually that whole fic is just full of horsey details that please my inner horse girl to no end 😂
Specifically for ganqing, I’m actually really pleased with sneaking in the blueberry cookie detail in Must Love Cats 😂 It’s super minor, I know, but I had already written that part before I was educated about Keqing’s favourite cookie, so then obviously I had to intentionally go back and change it. It makes me feel like I know Keqing a little better now lol.
10. How do you decide what to write?
hmm. I feel like this is a deceptively tricky question, lol. Is it how do I decide what ideas to develop into a full story, or is it how I decide how that story goes? I think the answers to either will be less than satisfying since I barely know myself tbh 😬
For the former, usually there is a scene or image that sparks the initial idea. It might be from a legit prompt, but more often it's just a passing thought, probably inspired from something I saw or experienced at some point. Sometimes the process for writing the story is just getting to that scene, other times it's just starting at point A and seeing how far the idea takes me.
For the latter, I'm pretty bad for not outlining anything and just winging it, so I don't know that I 'decide' anything. It sounds hokey, but I do think I sometimes get to a place where I'm in the character's head enough that they are telling their own story and I'm just transcribing it (this was very much the case for Reversal). I am experimenting with outlining though, and it's been helpful to a point, but having decided what should happen next and actually writing the prose for it are two very different things and I am suffering 🫠
All that aside, there is a part of me that thinks nothing is really decided when it comes to writing, nothing is set in stone. Once I write something I can change it a hundred times after that. I consider everything to be a draft of sorts, even after it's up on ao3 or whatever. And in a way that's very comforting. Writing is flexible in a way that my life is not and I like that very much.
16. What's an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?
I love AUs. There are so many good ones! But for a current top three, let's go with University AU, Office AU, and Scifi/fantasy AU. I would read any of these AUs all day long 😂

I honestly love rereading and even rewatching anything that’s made me happy before. Just because I know what’s going to happen doesn’t mean I can relive those feelings again.

Game of Thrones - 44 SANSA III (pages 455-462)
Sansa and Jeyne manage to sneak in a bit of time to act their age, Sansa and Arya have a blow out that pushes Sansa passed her threshold for suffering abuse silently, and Ned tells the Stark girls they are going home in the least helpful way possible while Sansa accidentally solves one massive portion of Ned's murder investigation.
The reader, officially turning another year older, faces the daunting march or mortality.

Her father's decision still bewildered her. When the Knight of Flowers had spoken up, she'd been sure she was about to see one of Old Nan's stories come to life. Ser Gregor was the monster and Ser Loras was the true hero who would slay him.
Oh hon, Loras would be crushed like a flower without the wiggle room of a tourney to give him tricks to gain advantage. If Sandor hadn't stepped in back then, he'd already be dead. Come on sweetheart, you know this.
Urgh, curse your hyper-fixation with romantic stories clouding your perceptions of reality.
Although can we talk about the fact that- oh no, never mind, Ned's already made the call to send them back, of course he's not going to do a good parenting job and talk trough his decisions with Sansa so she can begin to understand what kind of pressures her future husband might be under when he takes petitions, and what kind of choices he has to make and things he must consider, of course Ned's not going to educate Sansa in any manner so she can begin to understand how to better support her husband, she's just there to look pretty and get bred. Maybe seal an alliance if she's extra lucky.
He had touched her cheek, his thumb lightly tracing the line of a cheekbone. "Life is not a song, sweetling. You may learn that one day to your sorrow."
Sansa did not feel like telling all that to Jeyne, however; it made her uneasy just to think back on it.

Jeyne yawned. "Are there any lemon cakes?"
Sansa did not like being interrupted, but she had to admit, lemon cakes sounded more interesting than most of what had gone on in the throne room. "Let's see," she said.
The kitchen yielded no lemon cakes, but they did find half a cold strawberry pie, and that was almost as good. They ate it on the tower steps, giggling and gossiping and sharing secrets, and Sansa went to bed that night feeling almost as wicked as Arya.

Mmmm, that's not quite how it happened, but how many times has Sansa told herself a specific version of events in her head to cope with what happened, to deal with the fact that she's engaged to someone who was fully prepared to murder her sister and a peasant boy, she might actually believe it by now.
She's also right though, it's not the same. Ned can actually do something about this situation, politically it's tricky, but he has the time, power, and wiggle room to at least make the attempt to stop Gregor.
When she saw what the fruit in her lap had done to her beautiful ivory silk dress, she shrieked. "You're horrible," she screamed at her sister. "They should have killed you instead of Lady!"

Sansa stalked away with her head up. She was to be a queen, and queens did not cry. At least not where people could see. When she reached her bed chamber, she barred the door and took off her dress. The blood orange had left a blotchy red stain on the silk. "I hate her!" she screamed. She balled up the dress and flung it into the cold hearth, on top of the ashes of last night's fire. When she saw that the stain had bled through onto her underskirt, she began to sob despite herself. She ripped off the rest of her clothes wildly, threw herself into bed, and cried herself to sleep.
Speaking as a sibling, I can tell you all that this is unfortunately not unheard of behaviour between siblings.
But also this is absolutely not about the dress being ruined, the dress being ruined was just the straw that broke the camels back. Sansa has not been okay since the trident, and she has been keeping it together so admirably through sheer determination and an unhealthy amount of disassociation.
Arya got to talk to her dad a bit, got to have it out and face what she was feeling with what happened, but no one has given two shits about Sansa's state of mind.
"Oh she's so well behaved we don't need to worry about her," is literally the phrase that gets so many people, including a significant number of older siblings, marched to the edge of a full mental breakdown. Sansa needs therapy, just because no one is helping her face the trauma she's been experiencing, some of which - looking at you Petyr - she doesn't even understand she's experiencing.
FURTHER MORE- why am I having flashbacks to Sansa's first period in the tv show?
Sansa sat up. "Lady," she whispered. For a moment it was as if the direwolf was there in the room, looking at her with those golden eyes, sad and knowing. She had been dreaming, she realized. Lady was with her, and they were running together, and... and... trying to remember was like trying to catch the rain with her fingers. The dream faded, and Lady was dead again.
... Someone, please help this girl. She is Going Through Some Stuff.
But also was that a real Wolf Dream? or just a dream about Lady who had just been brought up? If it was real, how? Were they just running in the dream realm, or did they astral project into the real world, or did they hijack someone else's paws?
"Arya started it," Sansa said quickly, anxious to have the first word.

Arya raised her eyes. "I'm sorry father. I was wrong and I beg my sweet sister's forgiveness."
Oh I know that feels. There were so many times in school, who ever spoke first some how had this... it was like speaking first some how made your version of events truer in the teachers' eyes, more valid.
Except for a few people, who were always in the wrong even when they never actually did anything wrong because they were the teacher's least favourite.

...How are you supposed to pick out unconcous inspirations, hmmm....
I think there must be some DNA of the Dnd monster manuals that I read a bunch as a kid, just from constant exposure. Even if I'm not really at the skill level for it to show, I think it probably comes across in my color choices? Maybe?
(Art by Todd Lockwood btw, who has drawn for so much stuff i was into younger that he probably could count for inspo all on his own)
In the same vein, I used to want to be good enough to get my art onto magic the gathering cards and specifically tried to emulate the art on the cards during like, Return to Ravnica thereabouts. I never really got there. But I probably ended up with something closer to Pokemon cards? Bright and graphical and not terribly consistent, but I don't really think that's a hugely bad thing.

Can I just name artistic movements? I like a lot of impressionism+ expressionism and art nouveau, though idk how much it shines through in what I draw. And, uh, like, anime and manga, right? Specifically from the late 90s onward, but I'll assume that one's too obvious to be called subconscious.
I tried uploading my art into google lens to see what it thought my art looked like and got... A lot of online digital artists and a lot of another anime fanart. But that's not a surprise I think, I've been online my whole life ofc I'd draw inspiration from my peers, too.
Could go into naming media and artists more but I think that's getting more into 'conscious' inspiration territory. I'm still not sure if I have any idea of what I DON'T know I've been inspired by lmao.

What are some of your favourite tropes?
Do you have any tropes that you hate reading but love to write?
Are there any tropes that you would like to see more of?
Honestly, I'm pretty generic when it comes to tropes, and will vibe with any of the great oldies like your typical chosen ones, lost royalty, elemental magic, runaway princess etc etc. It all comes down to execution, which is where I usually get up on my very very very tall and smug horse.
As for tropes I hate reading but love writing? I dunno, is that a thing? Why would I like to write stuff I hate to read? The closest to this mentality I'd get is probably when I think I could pull off a thing better, but I only think so because I like the tropes/ideas in the first place. I usually look for things I want to read, and write stuff I would like to read, as well. I'm not really someone who likes to read things that aren't already in my general area of interest. I don't go "Wow I hate this thing! I'm gonna write it now!"
That being said, for how popular enemies-to-lovers is, I can't remember reading a good example of it, lol, but I do very much want to write it someday. Then again, people define enemies-to-lovers in such broad terms that it's really a matter of taste. It's just that nobody has yet to hit that specific collection of requirements I personally have for the dynamic.
One trope I think is very tasty and delicious is reverse horror, and that term is mostly used to describe video games at the moment. But I loooove the idea of a horror story where the true horror is the protagonist. Like, not action stuff like Doom or anything like that, but imagine a straight up horror thing where the creatures or monsters come out swinging, then the tone shifts as you realize they're the prey, and the thing they're messing with is a much bigger threat.
It's a trope that understandably doesn't have a lot of maneuverability in terms of storytelling, cuz once you do this, you've pretty much deleted all the tension and turned it from horror to action or comedy, but it's great power fantasy fodder. I've been playing with the idea of some sort of angelic monster hunter that follows this premise, where their catchphrase is "be not afraid" because their true angelic form is incomprehensible and terrifying to the demonic horrors of the story, but they're still a good guy.
Related to that, I also love the "No-Sell" trope, particularly when it's employed by an underdog character against the Big Bad. I'm kinda over the anime-ass climaxes where the protag must be beaten to a pulp in order to find their last reserves of power and save the day. We don't all need to follow that three-act structure. So I would like to see stories where the villain's downfall has been planned for a while, and they've already lost because the hero eclipsed them long ago, but just don't know it yet.
Also I think we should bring back revenge stories. No more "uwu revenge bad just ask nicely for justice" shit. I hate it when revenge stories are now framed less as "this will have consequences for you, and will likely hurt you and not really bring any closure" and more as "uwu violence is never the answer! violence bad! just forgive and forget or you will be as bad as the perpetrators!" Stories thrive on conflict and people doing bad shit, at times self-destructive, but often justified or at least understandable. All this moralizing and crap makes for really miserable reading and/or viewing. Noboy's out there saying John Wick shouldn't have avenged Daisy.
Basically right now I'm in my "What if MC was the monster all along?" phase. "What if, in my quest to stop the horrors, I must become what they fear?" type shit.
Anyway it's late and I'm rambling, but I hope this answered your questions!

Okay, so the official game play trailer is finally out for Horse Ranch… and I am underwhelmed. As a horse lover the positives for me are obviously the addition of horses, and from the looks of things the horses are extremely well made, animated and come with a lot of personality. But as a game player I am left with a lot of questions and concerns about whether this “expansion” pack is worth the money. They’ve basically given us no new information about the gameplay features that weren’t in the earlier released teaser and blog post.
Here’s my beef, below:
Have horses been made compatible with the Veterinary system that came with Cats and Dogs? Does horse care require a separate veterinary skill? Perhaps even a special degree (University)? No idea.
How are horses effected by the weather system (Seasons)? No idea.
Kids can ride (it appears) but what is the specific gameplay involved? Are there connected milestones that limit children’s abilities (Growing Together)? Can parents assist with teaching kids to ride and does that have any effect on the parenting system (Parenthood)? No idea
Are the ranch hands coded to assist with all harvestables (Cottage Living + Basegame) or just the new nectar plants? No idea.
Are the ranch hands coded to assist with all animals (Cottage Living) or just the ones that come in this pack? No idea.
Can horses be owned in other worlds or just the world that comes with this pack? You’d think we would have an idea about this by now but NO IDEA.
There are many more questions I could throw at EA, but I’ll leave it there. It’s just troubling to me as a consumer that we’ve received so little information about the actual gameplay of this pack and how this expansion expands the gameplay we already have beyond the addition of horses themselves. Typically when the sims team is quiet it’s because they have nothing to say lol 😆.
And if that’s the case, I just have to call it like I see it. This is a money grab and it doesn’t sit well with me. I’ve seen folks talking about how hard it must have been for the development team to redo so much coding to make the horses possible. And while I appreciate that sentiment, consumers are not responsible for the bad choices of companies, and we shouldn’t have to accept less to make up for those bad choices. 🤷🏾♀️
The base game code for Sims 4 just never was the successor to the sims 3 that it needed to be and the development team has been playing “catch up” since the game’s launch to bring players an experience that compares to the previous games. That’s a problem!!! And it’s not ours. It’s EA’s. Plus, even if it did take them a lot of time and effort to code horses into the game because of their troublesome base game code, that doesn’t relieve them of the responsibility to expand on gameplay with consideration to previous DLC. If Horses are worth an expansion packs price then they had better expand what we have. It’s that simple.

I’ll be honest, I just read Proverbs and now it blends in completely with whatever Psalms had going on. What I do remember of Psalms is realizing that a lot of what the ol’ Father is preaching at the pulpit is one-liners from this section of the bible.

These DS9 novels spend a lot of time with Bashir and Dax as a couple, working out their couple stuff. I suppose they’re really the only couple available in these early releases of the relaunch, but I hope we get to see other perspectives on romantic relationships. But otherwise, it’s a neat and tidy little adventure, and I like the scenes in which a Jem’Hadar ally has to observe these weird humans and basically ask them “what the hell are you doing?”

Holy shit! Anime movies is another random thing to pop up in theaters and sometimes they’re a bit too convoluted or reliant on their main series to explain things, but the premise of “we’re stuck in a video game and need to fight a boss” really makes this work. Loved that final boss battle.

Another quaint sort of slow burn horror release that doesn’t get to theaters as often these days. It doesn’t stick but it was interesting to watch.

Catching up on more Shakespeare that I’ve missed over the years. This one’s a real good way to translate this old timey kingdom stuff.

Guh, I really thought there might be some attempt to comment on the perils of seeking revenge, but nope, let’s just fucking murder assholes who do wrong against us.
The Outer Limits - Seasons 4-6 (1998-2000)
So much Outer Limits, it’s hard to encapsulate as I approach the end of it. All I’ll say is that “Down to Earth” from season 6 has me tearing up because most of it is a satire about weirdo X-Files fans but then the main character’s motivation to just connect with someone, anyone who will believe her and allow her to express her loss and just listen makes the ending so tragic and gah this is absolutely in my list of TV that will shape who I am as a person.
