This ESPN interviewer makes me very happy because so far in all the interviews I’ve seen her do she takes the time to say her final thank you to the player in their native language. The surprised little smile she gets from them is so Good.

Hey gurl✨ I’m in my wife era rn so maybe some Shisui and/or Tobirama husband/jealous husband hcs?🫣 I loooovee your writing and tbh your thoughts are my thoughts so no pressure😩 If you not feeling it feel free to ignore me babe🧚🏻‍♀️
YOU HAVE FED ME SO GOOD MISS GIRL! under the cut for length
shisui
this isn't too relevant but I have to include it. it's too cute. I definitely see shisui getting married pretty young, like early 20s. if he finds his person he's going for it. probably gets a lot of shit for it from his family, but he doesn't care
loooong honeymoon period. in part because they're still a young couple but also... shisui is just a really devoted husband. he loves the married life. insists on kissing her goodbye every morning, eating together every night, stuff like that
LOVES DECORATING THEIR HOUSE are u kidding me. let's say they get a kinda shitty place right after they get married, and put a tonne of work into doing it up. he gets so into painting, building the furniture, even starts up a little herb garden in their kitchen
finds so many ways to drop his wife into conversation lol. he's down bad even after the honeymoon period ends, so he wants to show her off. his FAV is when she swings by his workplace to bring him his 'forgotten' lunch. he turns around to the rest of the guys like. yeah. that's my WIFE. isn't she hot.
very much a believer in keeping the romance alive. he wants to keep making the effort with her until the day he dies. veryyyy good at remembering anniversaries, scheduling regular date nights, etc. always makes sure she has fresh flowers in the house
obviously it isn't all perfect though. especially while they're young (and presumably both still active, high-ranking shinobi) their schedules keep them apart a lot. and this hits shisui really hard tbh. he hates coming back to an empty home after a long mission, knowing he might not even see his wife before he has to leave again
work is probably where most of their arguments stem from, actually. I don't see it being a regular thing, but it's easy for resentment to build in those kinds of situations. shisui is very torn between his love for his village, and his love for his wife, and the fact he can't prioritise both. thankfully shisui is a good communicator so they make things work.
in terms of jealousy... I don't see it being a common thing. maybe before they get married he tends towards it a bit more, but once she's his wife, why would he worry? she's his entire world and he knows she loves him just as much
the only way I rly see him getting jealous at all is if they're going through a bit of a rough patch for the reasons mentioned above. maybe they haven't seen each other in weeks, and they both get back from a mission on the same day. and there's some kind of event/function that evening that they have to attend
so they barely have a chance to acknowledge each other, before they're pulled apart again by the crowd. so if shisui sees some random guy getting a little too close and flirty with her, he gets more annoyed than he'd like to admit
even then though.. he's not necessarily jealous as much as he is upset. like goddamn just let this poor man have his beloved wife to himself for a night. in this situation he's more likely to behave more rashly than usual, and he might just make some excuses and take her home lol. he gets a little bit pouty until she gives him some attention
overall, though, he's very chill. he trusts her implicitly, and expects the same from her. they need to have a very honest, respectful relationship if he's going to wife her up
god okay and in old age they're so cute together. I bet they have a bunch of kids (probably accidentally tbh lol) so then they end up with a whole squadron of grandchildren. he's that fun grandpa who sneaks them sweets when the parents aren't looking. all the grandbabies want to sleep over at their house. and they LOVE it.
to sum up: very good husband. very relaxed, communicates well, makes her feel loved every day. why did he have to die I want to throw myself off a bridge.
tobirama
first of all. good job to this woman. wrangling tobirama into marriage is not an easy job. he's so fucking ANNOYING. it probably takes him years to confess he even has feelings for her, let alone ask for her hand in marriage
but once he gets there. it's pretty cute. he doesn't really act very differently for the most part - he'd already decided his heart belonged to her well before they married, and wholly committed. so his behaviour doesn't change much, and there isn't much of a honeymoon period. sorry. he's like marriage is just a contractual agreement why would it change anything between us
he does make a few little indulgences though. he gets this smug little look every time he introduces her as his wife. he's actually just a lot more prone to 'showing her off' in general, and more likely to show some physical affection in public. for tobirama that's maybe a peck on the cheek lol. but it's progress
he's definitely a lot.... gentler?idk. with her once they're married as well. he makes an effort to be more patient and less snippy, and shows his appreciation for her in a lot of quiet little ways. for example, he'll be sure to leave work on time no matter how busy it is if he knows she's putting a lot of effort into dinner that night. or if she spends a second too long looking at a new dress in the store, he's buying it for her
on that note. tobirama is such a provider once they're married. he does have that traditional idea of providing for his wife. he'll probably ask her if she wants to become a stay at home wife tbh. if she says yes, he still expects her to get out in the community of course. he'd love if she did volunteering work, maybe at the hospital or with kids or something. but he's also equally happy for her to keep working. power couple vibes very strong
they have a nice, quiet little house away from the village where no one bothers then and they loooove it. especially tobirama, his wife and their home are his sanctuary. everyone else gtfo
other than that, not much is really different from before their marriage. they probably actually lead quite independent lives, to the point where people don't even know they're married until tobirama drops it into conversation a few months later. they're very private and lowkey.
unfortunately for her, tobirama's paranoia also persists. he's a bit delulu sometimes lol and she knows this going in. but it does inevitably cause some issues, especially if she's headstrong (which is definitely the type of woman he ends up with)
he trusts his wife more than anything. he would never doubt her for a second. but other men? the enemy. not to be trusted. they're all dogs. it drives him absolutely batshit crazy to watch them ogling her, or god forbid trying to flirt with her. which is actually kinda common bc they're such a lowkey couple, so people assume she's single
tobirama isn't one to make a scene per se, but this definitely leads to a few awkward situations in public, and she probably ends up embarrassed a few times. and there's 10000% arguments behind closed doors. I don't see either of them being good with this lol. he acts like she's his political enemy he's ridiculous
but because he loves her so much, and he actually really wants to put work into the longevity of their marriage, he'll come around. he's a lot softer and more willing to compromise when it comes to her. but she can't point that out because he's mortified
over time, he chills out a lot more. they're one of those couples that just get stronger and better with time. they grow a lot together, and although they probably continue to disagree a lot throughout their marriage, it's always in a way that leaves their relationship stronger. and he only gets softer for her. people (hashirama) even start to point out how devoted he is and he can't even deny it. cute
overall a kind of difficult husband, because he is an exceptionally difficult man, but my god he loves her so much. he would do anything to make her happy.

Wednesday addams x male reader who can read minds and sees the future and he always teases her. During a fencing session she can't land a hit and gets increasingly angry then tells him she loves him and it catches him out and she manages to get a hit but it leaves a scar on his eye. He's furious thinking she said it just to win they argue and she says she meant it then a lot of fluff.
They are already dating and he's irish please.
So Heimdall basically, but more simply put:
Tumblr media
“It’s Skill, Not luck.”
Wednesday Addams X Male Reader
Fencing, the art of footwork and swordplay was founded ages ago and to this day still a practical challenge for those not versed in their footsteps. In Nevermore there were two divisions, same teams of course. Men’s Division and Women’s division, both intense divisions of fencing and sharp skills. But for both, they were dominated by the “Power Couple.”
Wednesday Addams was a fierce competitor, swift and decisive with her movements, she made little error and did not err from her training. Teaching too of the Class was a challenge she enjoyed and profoundly excelled in. Her Boyfriend on the other hand, it was very different.
(Y/n), Wednesdays Irish Boytoy as many would claim, was also top of the men’s division, not for his evil calculating attitude, but his absolute abilities. Foresight. Being able to see the future, see your opponents moves before they can even make them gives you an almost omnipresent advantage in many situations, fencing especially. It was a normal day being King of the castle, another student falls before (Y/n), as he scores the final point.
“Game goes to (Y/n).” The teacher said, and (Y/n) calmly took off his visor to smile, he offers his hand to the student who takes it.
“A bit predictable, but nonetheless, good effort.” He says, (Y/n) then casually turns to face all the other students.
“Well, anyone else? I’m open to all challenges?” He says with a vast number of confidence, nobody really took up his offer, why would they? he could literally read them like a book, know their attacks, what they’re going to do, it’s impossible to touch him. everyone was silent until one voice decided to test her mettle.
“I’ll play your game.” A voice creeps from behind everyone, they split like the ocean and to Wedensday, dressed in Black as usual. (Y/n) was actually taken aback by his girlfriend challenging his spot.
“A ghrá?” (Love?)” he asks a bit shocked, he shrugs it off and smiles. “Very funny Wednesday..” he combs his hair back but sees she isn’t the one for jokes or in the mood to jest. He knows that look in her eyes.
“With all due respect, you’re the one only I haven’t bested in any division, I plan on changing that… I suppose luck has to do with that.”
“Not Luck, Skill.” (Y/n) responds, but decides that now would be the time, he turns to the teacher.
“Then let’s begin.” He asks, the Match was set but (Y/n) did not put his visor to cover his mask on.
“(Y/n)? Mask?” The Teacher Orders, (Y/n) calmly raised his hand. “It’s no need, she won’t lay a finger on this beautiful face she adores.” (Y/n) smugly got in position. Wednesday kept a scowl, everyone was at the ready. (Y/n) watches calmly as his foresight activates, an almost ethereal spirit from Wednesday shows her next movement, right foot forward, strong lunge to the left. Her body follows suit and (Y/n) effortlessly dodges the first stab. Everyone tries to contain their laughter, seeing Wedensday get played like a fiddle. She begins to pick up the pace, going for more quick and calculated stabs. (Y/n) begins to dodge left and right, reading each movement.
“Well! Someone’s confident today!” (Y/n) smugly steps back, he locks his arm in and counters Wednesday, a loud thud is heard, (Y/n) again dodged her stab, this time his rapier casually poking her forehead, only shouted by her visor was her growing anger.
“Point, (Y/n).” The teacher allows the two to separate. (Y/n) calmly raising his rapier. He can sense the unease, the growing anger in Wedensday, he grins and blows a kiss. The students watching try not to laugh as the couple have their little spout. “You know Wednesday, it’s like a song really. You’ve heard the tune before, the lyrics, you know them by heart so there’s no reason for you to struggle to sing the words. That’s what this is like… I know what you’re going to do, makes counters too easy.” He explains, She said nothing.
“Wish to try again black dove?” (Y/n) said, Wedensday without any hesitation gets back in her stance.
“Shut up and Duel..” she mutters and this time attacks more ferociously. Students watch with bated breath as (Y/n) sees, she’s going faster, trying to overwhelm his foresight. But even going as fast as a cheetah, her attacks remain futile as (Y/n) ducks down, and delivers a firm poke to her naval.
“Point two, (Y/n).” The teacher delivers the second one.
“This is best to five sweetheart. I know you can do better.” (Y/n) steps back, and Wednesday removes her visor, “Fine, no safety, I will win.” She and (Y/n) lock eyes. His confidence is overwhelming, (Y/n) doesn’t even assume a combat stance, Wedensday charges and uses her quick movements, but each attack was perfectly parried. (Y/n) calmly walks back as Wedensday attempts to put more pressure on him.
“Love, this is amusing…. But please, I’d rather not cut you. I do love you after all.” He tilts his head, dodging her stab. Wednesday is visibly angry, and says something (Y/n) could never foresee.
“I love you too! Which is why I’m trying to stab you—“ she blurts out in a small little fit of anger, (Y/n)’s foresight took a nosedive as his eyes go wide, “wait, did you—“ before he can ask, he could see the rapier racing to his face, with barely any hesitation (Y/n) threw his blade up to attempt to counter, but it was too late for him.
A splash of blood hits the ground and (Y/n) falls back, clenching his eye, grunge of pain echo though the room and stunned silence. Wednesday gripped her rapier, adrenaline finally causing though her cold veins, she suddenly comes down from her high and sees what she’s done, the blood splatter reached her forehead and she wiped the warm liquid from her skin and then quickly saw (Y/n) being helped by the teacher. Gut twisting regret was all over her face, she took a step to try to approach him, but something stopped her. Guilt.
Wednesday sat outside the nurses office, waiting impatiently. Her members have been agitated so bad, her foot is tapping the ground. She’s never done this, she could only stare at the ground, pondering the fate of her boyfriend. The doors knob turned and opened, the Nurse stepped out with bloody gloves and Wednesday hopped out of her chair.
“How is He?” Was her immediate first question.
“He’s fine, thankfully the cut just tore though the cheek muscle and part of the upper eyebrow, missed his cornea by millimeters. should be fine with a bad scar. I have to contact his family.” The Nurse walks off and Wednesday turns to the door, a wave of negative emotions washes over her. She gripped the handle and twisted the knob to enter. She saw (Y/n)’s face, half of it, he was staring at the wall.
“… What do you want?” He asks coldly. Wednesday had never felt so, off.
“I, wished to speak with you—“
“Why? You got what you wanted. You wanted to use our relationship to get one over me, you got what you wanted, right?” He turns to her, letting her see the other half, his eye was covered in gauze with clear medical tape holding it there, the beginning and end of the scar can be seen under the pad.
“You’re right, it is What i wanted, and I was selfish and, evil to do something like that.”
“Really?” He said with such Fake Shock, Wednesday couldn’t be angry at him for it. He looks back at the wall and then from the Corner of his good eye, sees her sit next to him.
“(Y/n), Im sorry…” She Mutters, (Y/n) turns to face her, she could barley look at him.
“You’re disfigured because of me, when you went down I had this sense of fulfillment and pride, but then, it felt like needles were tearing though my heart. I always thought I’d enjoy that sensation but I didn’t. I was selfish, bitter and angry, I hope you can forgive me.” Wednesday lays out her apology, it’s dead air for a moment until (Y/n) sighs.
“First of all, I’m not disfigured..” he grabs the tape and pulls it off, the scar wasn’t entirely bad. The bloods Coagulation around his scar so no bleeding, just your puckish rouge like scar now, his eye looks just fine, albeit a bit red.
“Second, if you want to make it up to me..” he begins, “Kiss it to make it feel better.” He said with a smug smile, Wednesday was actually taken aback, seems his attitude has always stayed intact. “But if you don’t want to—“ he trails on, before feeling her palms grip his face, more accurately the cheeks of his face and she lays a cold but, loving kiss on his closed eye. She lets go and (Y/n) stares at her, actually at a loss for words, he couldn’t hide his smile. He scoots over and lied back, laying his head on her lap, Wednesday was less than enthusiastic about it, his eye looked up to hers.
“Ye know, this might be dumb to say..” he starts,
“But what?” She replies.
“You kissing my eye, I actually didn’t see that coming..” he chuckles, Wednesday closed her eyes, trying to stiffen a smile to not show.
“Heh.. I love you, Wednesday..”
“… I love you too..”

Hello, how would you rank the gaang+fire ladies in a best sense of style to worst of sense of style?
oooh fun! wait, is this modern au or not?? just in case, i’ll do both…
toph is the worst, obviously. she has no sense of style whatsoever. she does have her little pom pom opera headband, which is very cute, and honestly her fire nation fit is the cutest one (sorry katara), but i don’t think she actually gives a shit about any of that, she just happens to slay regardless because she can’t not slay. in modern au she mostly wears large shirts and sweatpants and flip flops, and yet somehow she still looks remarkably good “dressed like a slob” (katara’s words) because she is simply beautiful enough to pull it off.
i don’t think zuko has a bad sense of style, i actually think a lot of his outfits are genuinely cute (i esp love his one tank top in book 1 that’s such a look imo), but like toph, he also isn’t really putting effort in, so it’s not so much a “sense of style” as it is in his nature to serve cunt. in modern au he actively tries to spice up his wardrobe (with katara’s help), but then he never actually wears any of the stuff they bought together because he needs his emotional support favorite cardigan and/or black turtleneck. he can pull it off because he looks cute and cozy, but no is mistaking him for an expert in fashion any time soon.
i always wonder how aang found those monk’s robes in book 3, whether he made them himself, and if so, with which fabrics. so in that sense, he’s actually a diy style icon. but in modern au, he literally dresses like roman roy in the finale, walmart boys’ color block t shirt, so i’m docking points even though, again, he does look adorable and it is a Look in its own right. the light up heelys also add or dock points depending on who you ask.
from book 2 onward, sokka has a nice, simple outfit that is a good cut and a good color without being remotely flashy or complicated, and he accessorizes with weapons, which are both practical and spice up his outfit. “like toph, he also doesn’t give a shit about his looks, it’s just a coincidence that he looks good,” one could argue. but i think he knew what he was doing with that sleeveless top. and besides, he was excited by the fact that his bag matched his belt. in modern au, sokka doesn’t give a shit about style until adulthood, because he and katara just focus on their respective domains and thus katara has the monopoly on fashion, but then he starts figuring out his gender and sexuality and the world of fashion opens up for him. that said, his idea of going crazy is like, wearing a couple rings, so he’s still towards the middle bottom of this list.
azula doesn’t really have a sense of personal style, she just wears what she thinks looks best for her circumstances, and since her goal is to intimidate, she happens to slay. but if she was like, a farmer, she would not be bothering with the winged eyeliner and red lipstick and perfect hair, because that is a product of her environment rather than an internally motivated mode of self-expression. so in modern au, she trades shoulder spikes for shoulder pads, and knee high boots for tastefully high heels, but the effect is the same. respect me, fear me, take me seriously in my navy blue blazer.
suki never really gets to pick her own outfits unless you count the fire nation crop top, which is cute but obviously wouldn’t be her first pick in garb. that said, the kyoshi warrior armor obviously goes so hard and she looks great in it, so she’s a style icon just for that. in modern au, she dresses in a way that is deceptively simple but knows that it makes her look really hot to her target demographic (dykes and sokka). she generally just opts for flannel and cargo shorts, but on days where she’s on a mission, she’ll wear a short sleeved loose button up with half the sleeves undone, some necklaces, and no bra. and she’s a hero for that.
mai’s outfit is actually my favorite in the entire show (like, i would wear it), but there’s something kind of cutesy about her hair style that i feel like was probably imposed on her by her mother. like don’t get me wrong, it still looks good on her, but i can’t see her actually caring to maintain something so elaborate without the presence of external pressures. i can picture modern au mai’s sense of style so perfectly, though. soft flared pants, in a silky fabric; turtleneck tank tops; leather jackets: dark peacoats; dyke boots to stomp around in; mostly in various shades of dark red, dark blue, and black. she keeps it simple and classy, and has the freedom to experiment with hair styles more as well. when she’s alone, everyone is envious of her effortlessly chic steez, and yet, when she is with ty lee, everyone’s like “awww it’s cute that ty lee lets that kind of schlubby girl hang around her.”
ty lee puts effort into her appearance for the purposes of attracting specific results. she knows she’s beautiful, of course, but she also wants to be beautiful in a cute way, harmless and inviting. pink is less threatening than red, showing skin makes her seem vulnerable and desirable, her braid is simultaneously perfect and kind of messy. in modern au, ty lee would similarly be attuned to the cultivation of her aesthetic for a similar purpose. she wouldn’t just wear whatever she felt like, but rather would have an extremely curated wardrobe of outfits that all adhere to the same theme of making her look impossibly beautiful but in a cute and harmless way. idk man. there’s something wrong with her, i think, but also that thing might just be patriarchy.
katara is the only character who canonically takes an interest in fashion for the sake of fashion (iirc), and so that immediately elevates her in my opinion. she clearly cares a not insignificant amount about her appearance, and takes pride in looking good (as she should, because she’s beautiful). i love the idea that she got her book 2 outfit in the northern water tribe and was so excited about getting a new fit that she literally wore it the entire season even though it was springtime and she was sweating buckets. she’s so excited about dressing up in ba sing se, or when they steal clothes in the fire nation, or when she gets to take kyoshi’s clothing in “avatar day,” or when she goes to the spa with toph, or when she’s telling aunt wu about her skincare routine. it matters to her! and i think that as she gets older, and more resources are available, she gets to expand and experiment with her wardrobe more, and that’s really fun for her. and in modern au, she’d also love fashion of course, and would have a lot of opinions on how to participate in fashion ethically. her wardrobe would be kind of all over the place because it’s mostly thrifted, but she’d put so much effort into curating an outfit every day before she leaves the house, and she can go weeks if not months without repeating an outfit, not because she has an unlimited wardrobe, but because she’s really clever and thoughtful when it comes to what she pairs together on any given day. and she sometimes makes her own clothing, or modifies thrifted pieces, and that somehow looks great on her too. my point is, she wins in a landslide.

Is Amity a Good Person?
This is not if she's a well written character. A judgement of that is a part of this but the bigger point is just: Is Amity a 'good' person? Does she appear to actually care about others? Does she choose selflessness over selfishness? Etc. etc.
And part of this is going to be subjective. To some people, not being mean is enough to make someone nice. Other people will ask for a bit more, especially out of a fictional character. Hell, you can even see it with most fictional parties. The lancer character who is meant to contrast against the hero is usually a pretty dickish person but you might still call them good because even if they're cursing while doing it, they are still putting their life at risk in order to save a town or the like. Meanwhile, you probably wouldn't call Vegeta a nice person, even by the time of Dragon Ball Super because he is still mostly selfish, even once he's explicitly no longer trying t get stronger regardless of the consequences to others.
So what does Amity do that is actually nice?
...
........
Oh, were you expecting me to start listing things she does? Because I have bad news for you.
See, one hang up I have with going "Amity always wanted to be a good person and so even if she loses her drive, motivation, etc. she gains the personality of a good person," is that Amity doesn't do fucking anything to earn that. She isn't unpleasant. After S1, she isn't trying to murder people or actively bullying people but like... Cool, you upgraded from Mega Bitch to Background character. Why do you claim that's a new personality instead of the death of one?
Because being a 'good person' is actually more complicated than just not being an asshole. Being nice to your friends? Of course you're nice to your friends. You care about them (put a pin in it). Noticing when your partner is in pain and wanting to help them? You supposedly love that person, much like why you might be nice to family, so OF COURSE, you put in a little extra effort.
A good person, at least in a narrative, doesn't need the excuse. They help because it is the right thing to do and then their personality dictates how they go about doing so. Maybe they write wiki pages to share their knowledge in a free way so people can benefit from it. Maybe they help out at a soup kitchen because it gives them a chance to be more directly kind and they have the time for it. Or maybe it's just that when they see someone who is potentially having problems, they risk whatever it may lead to be asking this complete stranger if they're okay.
Amity doesn't do this. In fact, as far as actually giving a shit about anyone other than Luz, she's AWFUL at it. Hunter is her kindest moment to a theoretical stranger in the series but it is still characterized by her being suspicious, judgemental and not giving him a chance until the dude is suicidal and has drawn a dozen parallels between them. Even then, she does it as part of mimicking Luz, at least with the joke she immediately makes of how 'this always works for Luz'. Then you have poor fucking Willow. This is a girl that Amity abused, especially for her powerlessness and helplessness, for YEARS. Amity even knows explicitly why Willow should hate her. What her crimes are. But... Then 'good person' Amity, showing 'care' for her friend, treats her as powerless after having thought she didn't need to do shit to be allowed to come to Willow for advice (Labyrinth Runner and Falls and Follies respectively). That is TOTALLY someone who always just wanted to be a good person and is dedicating themselves to that instead of any of their old dreams and desires.
The only person or thing she puts any effort into post S1 is Luz. She doesn't care about anyone else besides that. Belittle Eda for not focusing on taking of Luz in a tangible way during Eclipse Lake? Check. Feel justified to give marching orders to literally everyone in the house just because she's Luz's girlfriend during that same episode? Check. Including Willow, who she has done NOTHING to make up for at this point? Check. Hell, even further: Not give a fuck about stopping Boscha while Luz could just step out of the splash zone around Willow during Winging it Like Witches? OF COURSE NOT. She only gets involved once Boscha's only focus is going to be on Luz.
That. Is not. A good person. Not if the only people who matter are those she deems are worthy of mattering. Changing from actively crushing those other people to just being entirely indifferent to them and their plights is not as a big of a deal as you all seem to think it is, not for it to become the only defining trait of a character's personalities and motivations.
Are they evil? Bad? No. But anything beyond nice is giving such a character a LOT of credit. A rogue isn't Robin Hood just because they only steal from the rich. If they're still lining only their pockets and the pockets of their friends with their thievery, they're still selfish and self centered, they just have code. That's called Lawful Neutral, or Lawful Evil, in D&D for a reason. Not any form of good.

Emily today
There it is the family home where she lived most of her life until college; she see it with so much love remembering the times when she used to play catch with dad, running around chasing butterflies, showing her little brother the stars and constellations, the times when she helped her mother with the garden, the place where she and her friends used to make bonfires.
She’s home even though she has her own home now in the city, were she live alone and sometimes with her partner at the time no need to say her parents doesn’t know about it. She make the effort to stay in contact with her parents but work, partner and life in general makes it hard to do it, her parents understand most of the time but after weeks of not talking to her and just see her life trough social media they would called, yesterday was one of those days.
YESTERDAY
*iPhone rings*
Home-pod “in coming call from Mom”
Emily to her Home-pod “answer the call”
Emily: Mom, Hi what’s up? *getting ready to go out*
Scully: hi sweetheart, we just wanted to talk to you, you haven’t called
Mulder: hello Kiddo, hey what’s the noise?
*looking for clothes*
Emily: sorry mom, oh I’m getting ready to go out so I answer the call with the home-pod
Mulder: you know I don’t trust those things they’re always hearing and spying, who knows who’s listening
*putting the clothes on*
Emily: Dad you’re just being paranoid
Scully: mulder cut it. Sweetheart you’re going out?
Emily: yeah with some friends and Derek we’re heading to the bar
Mulder: be careful, don’t drink too much kiddo
Emily: dad I’m almost 30 not a kid anymore
Scully: well you’re our daughter no matter how old you are
Mulder: well the reason we called you is because we want you to come tomorrow, your brother is coming from college, we want to spend the day together
Scully: that’s if you’re not busy of course
*putting her makeup*
Emily: No mom I’m not busy, yes I will see you at noon tomorrow and I’m sorry for not calling I miss you guys
Scully (a sad understanding tone): we know honey don’t worry about it
Mulder (loving tone): we love you kiddo
Home-Pod “call ended”
Today
*standing in front of the unremarkable house*
The porch creaks more, the house needs a bit of paint, the old swing in the yard is rusty.
Emily enters the house but there wasn’t any noise, they were home cause the cars were outside but her parents nowhere to be seen “MOOOOM!!!!!” “DAAAAD!!” “Anyone home??”
Scully answered from upstairs “sweetheart give us a minute we’re coming” Emily cringe at the thought of what was her parents doing, she likes to believe that they’re not active because well no one wants to know if they’re parents still do it.
Mulder and scully enter the living room to see Emily looking for something in the Tv; Mulder “hey miss Emily how you’re doing kid” he muffled her hair and emily sighs “DAD common” Mulder grinning “I couldn’t help myself”
Scully reach her daughter and gives her a kiss “we missed you honey, we haven’t heard from you”
Mulder “if it wasn’t for your social media we wouldn’t know how are you kid”, the tone of both parents was soft but incriminating towards her daughter;
Emily explains herself a bit annoyed “mom, dad, I told you before that im sorry, it’s just the hospital is always busy, you both know how it is having demanding jobs” she ends with a sigh beating herself for not called them.
William show up “Mom Dad I’m Home” everyone give him a hug and his mom kiss him on the cheek like a little boy. During dinner everyone talks about their respective lives, William is in his fourth year of college almost finishing his degree (he gained a scholarship due to excelled in baseball, he might go pro after college), his adventures as a handsome bachelor and also the academic success he has;
Scully scolded him for date so many girls and partying a bit too much for her liking, Mulder stand with scully but afterwards tell william just to be careful and enjoy his time in college.
Emily told them about her current work at the hospital and the specialties she is interested, Mulder asked her about who’s Derek and she told them he is a neurosurgeon a bit older than her, good looking and nice.
In the afternoon william and emily were teasing each other and having a play full banter about each other’s life, they text or DM regularly, they cover each other’s backs when they don’t want their parents know something, like the fact that emily is been living with Derek for a couple of months, that would be a major shock to the parents not because their old fashion or prude but because emily haven’t presented him and Mulder would be mad at her for being with a man almost 10 years older than her; emily knew that her mother would give her a talk about her experience and all that. Emily cover william partying nature and disasters when he got into trouble because of it; he likes partying and women too much for his own good.
Mulder asked william to help him fixing and moving things in the house that mulder couldn’t do it due to some back pain and his knees.
William “I think your knees can be heard all the way to D.C. Dad”
Mulder shot him a look “laugh while you can Punk but I was your age too and you will get to mine”
Emily teased him about it “what’s up dad? Old man back problems?” but mom cut her off with her famous raises eyebrow look.
Scully and Emily enjoy discussing some cases emily worked on the hospital and some of scully work at the nearby clinic as well. They talk about new procedures and tactics; a few doctors Scully knows at the hospital where emily is doing her residence. Scully always the FBI agent asked more details about Derek but emily didn’t respond despite her mother’s insistence. Scully asked her if she was thinking about family someday, mulder and her eager to have grandkids to spoil, but didn’t want to pressure their children too much about it.
The whole evening was nice. When the time came for emily returned to the city and william went to stay with her to see some friends in town, he would return tomorrow though. The house became lonely again just the two of them.
Sitting on the porch recliners, old people furniture said william.
Scully remembered the time when she was 29, a young woman, medical doctor specialized in pathology, with a new job at the FBI, a whole life ahead of her, knowing her cute, boyish, intelligent and handsome partner, who 30 years later is her husband, she also recalled the times when she too lost contact with her parents due to work and the comments her mother told her about family and kids.
Mulder joined her in the reminiscence, he recalled the first year they worked together and how they were at the time; “scully we were chasing monsters and killers, running around conspiracies and putting our lives at risk when you were 29”;
Scully “I know mulder and now Emi is the same age, where the time has gone?? It’s almost like yesterday we were in the rain at Bellefleur” she give him a chaste kiss;
Mulder “I can’t imagine emily in that situation, I think she’s still so young and green for this world, but that’s hypocritical of us” he sighs defeated;
scully “when I was 29 I’ve already make so many mistakes too, ones that emily didn’t have to learn from her own experience thank god”;
Mulder “well she and William got the better of us”;
scully “but we are now at the other side of the street mulder and is not nice, I’m thinking about the times that I forgot to call my mother for weeks and whenever I was injured she was the last to know about it”;
Mulder “yeah i got it now and I don’t like it either, I missed them so much too and accepting they have their life apart now is heartbreaking”;
Scully “yeah but they’re good kids emily is so intelligent so it is william as well, she is doing her residency in a great hospital, she’s responsible and have a great future a head; William almost finished college and have an amazing future if he decides to practice or going professional on baseball either way”;
Mulder “I know we are so proud of both”. They leave the recliners with a few cracks of knees and head upstairs to call it a night.
Mulder thought “if scully was lucky I maybe could give her one or two orgasm, common friend don’t failed me like the other night” he was grinning while climbing the stairs.

Hazbin Hotel swap: Fate rewritten- Charlie
So, I have an idea for a Hazbin Hotel role swap au where things prior to the series are changed a little bit and the characters aren't just character A with character B's personality sometimes its that, but not completely
First who is swapping with whom
Charlie <- -> Alastor
Angel Dust <- -> Vaggie
Nifty <- -> Husk
Vox (A fight manager who manages through controlled shocks) <- -> Valentino
Lute <- -> Adam: Nothing really changes here
Lilith <- -> Lucifer
Cherry Bomb <- -> Sir Pentious
Camilla <- -> Zestial
Mimzy <- -> Rosie
As the title suggest we start with Charlie.
Charlie is still the princess of hell, but unlike Alastor isn't as polite. I mean she's still as cheery as her normal self and the plastor smiled Alastor has, but she has that Chaotic energy of someone like Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate abridge.
Relationship to other characters
Alastor- She greatly respect the radio and doesn't overstep her boundaries around him, but finds his efforts amusing
Husk-Wherever Alastor put those Overlords he kidnapped is where Charlie pulled the now deranged Husk from. He listen to her without question
Vaggie- In an uncharacteristically nice move, Charlie actually helped Vaggie. She undid it by sending her to Vox, but its the thought that count. Despite that Vaggie and Charlie are friends... with benefits and after learning the meaning behind her name Charlie nicknamed her "her most lickable friend." In addition already figure out Vaggie was an angel.
Lilith and Lucifer- To put it simply she thinks the world of her father, but doesn't her mother and actively avoid Lilith
Things that change with the cannon episode
Ep 3: Scrabbled Eggs (Cooked bombs?)
Angel Dust asks Charlie to humanly get rid of Cherry bomb's Bomb boys, the first thing she does is use them as golf balls until Angel Dust order to try something else.
Follows Camilla to the Overlord meeting (she likes messing with the Overlord, she often drops in on any meeting their having)
Ep 5: Dad Beat Dad
She spends the whole time actively avoiding any contact with Lilith
Ep 6: Welcome to Heaven
Because Alastor is stuck in hell (obvi) he begrudgingly asks her to be the Hotel's representative and plead for the case of the Hotel. She agrees and takes Vaggie with her
Create a two way communication portal so Alastor can talk to Heaven so she doesn’t have to then sits down on her phone not paying attention to anything
After all is said and done, and Alastor fails to plead, Charlie stands up grabs Vaggie’s spear and chuck it at Adam, breaking his mask drawing some blood on his cheek. She chuckles as she says,“First blood, and there will be much more.” she grabs Vaggie and teleports back to hell through a dark portal
Ep 8: The Show must go on
Puts a throne on top of the roof of the hotel, the night before the battle. She sits down in it and Dazzle and/or Razzle give her a glass of wine. She chuckles as she toast the sky saying “On to Alastor’s victory or on to death”
In Combination with Alastor creates the barrier to stop the exorcist that is broken by Adam.
Lute chucks a spear at Charlie aimed directly at her head, but Charlie simply moves her head and it hits the throne.
Gets into a one sided fight with Lute, only to get bored and challenges Adam who starts mollywopping her. As she lays there defeated Adam grabs her and chucks her off the roof. When she hits the ground, she alive and Adam says to the exorcists “Don’t kill her, let her be a lesson”

A bit ago I made my own rewrite of Millie as a challenge and ended up loving her so much I put her into my own project (adjusted so there's no copyright infringement and she fits \w world-building)
I seriously think Viv doesn't want to put any effort into characterizing Millie. Like I don't think she's bad at it, I just think she doesn't want to.
Even outside of a text in a doc form of characterizing, there are ways in visual media to add depth to your character. Random scene to explain my thoughts, I.m.p. Having a meeting to plan things before a murder: Wanna characterize Millie as an overzealous maniac? Have her rocking back and forth in her chair, pumped up, ready to go the exact second they finish up. Wanna make her sweet and caring to contrast her fucked up job? Make her take notes, nod along, and when they head out have her check up with everyone. Is she better at her job than the others and knows it? Have her pay attention during the planning parts but more distance during unimportant pieces, weapons laid out on the table to pick the very best one for the job. JUST SOMETHING PUT SOMETHING THERE, PLEASE!!!
The way other characters are around her doesn't help.
Moxxie could be the one thing holding her back from trying to clear out every ring and so he intervenes anytime shes slightly annoyed, blitz could see her as a rival for murder or a scapegoat for everything, Sallie Mae could be by her side the entire time she's on screen, striker could respect her for her strength and loyalty but hate her for the fact she's a suck up to royalty or too energetic or because she's a wild card, Loona could have her as the only person she shares a hobby with and being a slightly protective cus of it, her parents could be overly doting and ask if she's been taking care of herself and acting less self-sacrificial, Chaz could avoid her the entire episode out of fear and then have his fear be justified during the wedding! These are the ideas I thought up in 20 minutes, and you don't have to change much for the antagonists or her family!
Like even her design shows literally nothing! Jack. Shit.
Wacky hairstyle, scars, more than 2 colors, any thought put into the outfit at all, accessories, Body type (to an extent), posing, anything!!! That's all I'm gonna say about design cus I could go all day with the hypotheticals because there's SO FUCKING LITTLE TO HER I CANT EVEN RUN WITH WHAT'S THERE!!! I have to make up things about her just to demonstrate how little Viv has tried with even the most BASIC characterization. There's nothing to Millie, not even poorly written things, just actually nothing!!! I've seen characters who can be summarized with a handful of words, don't have a single line of dialogue, and have a backstory that's a sentence long be characterized better than her!!!
It's actually a bit impressive how little Viv has tried! It's like she's actively avoided giving her even the slightest base-level character!
Millie is a plot device to clean up blitz and moxxies messes.

X-Men: Evolution Headcanons
Aka: My thoughts on X-Men Evolution’s Self-Possessed Episode:
While it very well might be a coincidence, I think it’s interesting that Rogue’s mental grip on her powers started going haywire after her heart started breaking. This isn’t like when she felt betrayed by Mystique in the first season after learning the truth. This is genuine heartbreak.

(Scogue gifs by @doortotomorrow I believe)
We see Rogue’s attraction to Scott start early—not when her powers first manifested and when Mystique manipulated scenarios to make Rogue fearful of him and the X-Men for the most part—as he continually treats her with respect and compassion, as well as her witnessing again and again his devotion to protect others and fierce loyalty to his friends.
She’s seen him on his worst days, sure, but she’s also seen him genuinely make an effort to learn his lesson and redeem himself. Also, just because he was becoming conscious of his realization of his own feelings to Jean never meant Scott ever dismissed Rogue or the rest of their friends (even though he’s apparently blind as a bat recognizing when a member of the female species finds him attractive.). He’s always shown Rogue through both his words and actions that he strongly cared for and trusted her. They’ve had moments both big and small that helped them bond and confide in one another that they didn’t tell anyone else.
Unfortunately, when Rogue finally, finally gathered the courage to be more direct with her feelings for him, she was unintentionally shut down hard when Scott casually responded to her inquiry on going to the concert with a yes: with Jean. This gives her the impression that no matter how deeply she feels for him and no matter what she does to try to convey them, she will never stand a chance at winning Scott Summer’s heart because, in Rogue’s eyes, it already belongs to Jean Grey.

Not only does the only person outside of the X-Men she felt she had a genuine connection with turn out to be Mystique, she gains a more in-depth look at the older woman’s memories and learns the identity and motives of the latter —who, keep in mind:
1) based on what what little snips of we heard from Irene, has barely been there for Rogue’s childhood after adopting her when she was 4 years old, 2) has gaslighted her to the point of seeking her out for dependency and protection, 3) emotionally manipulated her both as a figure of authority and as a ‘fellow peer,’ 4) has resorted to physical violence and intimidation whenever Rogue showed signs of softening towards the X-Men/rebelled, both directed at those Rogue began to care for and directed at Rogue personally.
What does this tell Rogue? This tells her that the woman who was essentially supposed to be her guardian by law—who was supposed to love, care for, and PROTECT her like a mother is meant to treat their child—had more or less viewed and used her as a TOOL. Whatever what exists of Mystique’s affections towards Rogue, and as genuine she may believe them to be, her own desires took priority over Rogue’s well-being.
Again, this is probably a coincidence since Rogue stated that the personalities/memories of whoever she’s come into physical contact with were starting to overwhelm her.
However, it’s interesting that any indication of the memories/personalities being a problem for her are little to nonexistent save when she dreams about baby Kurt. They don’t actively start becoming a danger and potentially fatal problem until the first boy she’s genuinely loved as both a friend and romantic interest accidentally breaks her heart and when the woman who served as her guardian/mentor/friend with varying degrees of manipulation inadvertently* twists the knife further into Rogue’s already fragile psyche.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
*I say this with skepticism because, though Mystique is Rogue’s adoptive mom and deep very deep down cares, it says a lot when she STILL puts her in physical/social/emotional situations in which the latter is not comfortable.

Do you have any headcanons on what you think George and Lorraine do for a living in the improved 1985?
I received this ask over two months ago. Many apologies for not getting to it in a timely manner. I'm prone to seeing asks when they come in, telling myself I'll answer them later in the day, and then getting distracted by side-projects & general happenings of life until I remember the asks weeks to months later.
Anyway, in the improved timeline, I see George as being a college professor for some reason. I just think that fits him and that he'd be a really well-liked and respected one. Maybe he teaches creative writing courses or even a literature class based solely around sci-fi works. Kids flock to get into his classes because of the interesting twist he puts on everything. He also definitely works science fiction movies into his lectures to pair them with the novels or short stories they're reading. And, of course, he's also got his professional writing career.
I had a little bit more trouble trying to figure out what I think Lorraine does. My first instinct is to say she probably doesn't work and stayed at home with the kids when they were younger, then maybe starts doing charity work or volunteer stuff once they're older. I still kind of like that headcanon. She seems like an involved enough mother to have wanted to put her full effort into being there and raising them (probably very involved in their activities and such), and I like the idea of her running the show at home and then having all these little volunteering gigs on the side. Like, I can totally see Lorraine being well-known by everyone as the person who's always selflessly giving her time and resources to better the lives of others.
My other idea I have is that Lone Pine Lorraine is an event planner. I don't really know why, lol. I just have this picture in my head of her loving to tackle all the aspects of planning events and parties for others. Making long, organized lists, taking the time to learn about her clients and what their tastes are, and just generally having fun planning out every single detail of the location, decorations, food, etc. This is an added bonus because it allows for the headcanon of Lorraine going ALL OUT for George & the kids' birthdays. They just know it's going to be elaborate and meticulously put together.
Thanks for the ask!

Summary: Privacy. Normalcy. Love. Y/n was ready to give all of that up when she became an idol. She was more than happy with the absence of those qualities in her life until a certain six foot mountain of sunshine and chaos was cast opposite her in her first drama. Confronted with the fact that she no longer knows what she wants; Y/n must decide if he’s truly worth giving up the life she’s dreamed of…and how much damage she’ll let happen before she makes a decision.

Third POV
All day Yunho had been anxious. He and Y/n rarely spoke between takes and he did his best to be around but not actively next to her. It was physically killing him being so close and not being able to talk to her. But, the last thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable. So, he kept his answers short but amiable and made sure that as soon as the director called cut he put a small appropriate amount of distance between him and the girl he so desperately longed for.
“Okay! Last scene for the day! Episode six, scene 35. Places!” Everyone bustled about and got ready to shoot the final scene of episode six. The one that both Y/n and Yunho had been dreading all day.
The two actors went to their respective places on the set. Though they had rehearsed this scene several times before, nothing had actually….happened. Purple and red flashing lights filled the set to imitate the hallway of a nightclub. The sound crew turned on thumping music with a layer of sound over it to make it seem like it was coming from the next room.
Y/n could feel the camera behind her and the man holding the boom mic as well. She tried to shake off her nerves about what she knew was about to happen and get into her character's mindset. Yunho stood a few feet behind her- getting ready to "chase" after the girl from the crowded club. His eyes fell to her hands.
Her fingers, nails painted a dark color, nervously played with the several rings placed by costuming. Was she dreading doing this scene after what he told her? Even with all his efforts to give her space today had she still been uncomfortable? The tall man took in a huge breath only to puff his cheeks and blow it out anxiously as he swung his arms back and forth. Just don't do anything more than what it says in the script, he thought to himself.
"Quiet please! Camera's rolling. Stand by. Mark 'Reality in Heaven' scene thirty-five, take one." The AD called out. Y/n jumped up and down getting her energy up. Her ears attentively listened for the director's cue.
"Action!"
"Action!"
Y/n stormed down the tiny fake hall, her heels clicking on the dark wood. Even from the shot behind, just the tension she had in her shoulders and back- exposed by the top she was wearing- showed the anger her character was feeling.
"Nari! Nari! Wait! Hey- Han Nari!"
Yunho began to chase after her. "Jaeyoung- leave me alone. What the fuck are you even doing here?" Desperately, Yunho grabbed her arm and pulled her to face him. The two stood centered in the small walkway, colored light falling over their faces. Y/n looked up at him, nothing but anger in her eyes. The intensity of her stare made him swallow a lump forming in his throat.
"Where are you going?"
"Far from you."
"Nari-..." She broke away from him, but Yunho reattached his grip to her arm, keeping her from walking much farther. "Look, I didn't mean to pry into your business but-"
"You fucked up my deal, Fish Boy!" Y/n let lose all the anger building in her chest as she yelled at the tall boy.
Slowly, Yunho's hand dropped from her arm and he stared down at the ground. Y/n tried not to let the soft look in his eyes break her focus. "He hit you. What was I supposed to do..."
"Let me pay off my debt."
"By doing what? Getting passed around by his entourage until he decides you've served your purpose?"
Y/n reached up, roughly shoving her palms against Yunho's chest. "It's my life Jaeyoung! Some of us have to do terrible things just to keep existing. Not everything is all pretty and perfect and magical like one of your paintings, Fish Boy!"
She moved to shove him again but Yunho caught her hands and took a step forward, centering the two once again in the small hall. "So, I'm just supposed to sit back and watch?"
"It's none of your business!"
"I don't want to see you get hurt- or killed!"
Throughout the argument, Y/n was slowly building up energy and emotion and she was ready to let loose. They had rehearsed this before but now was the time to fully lose control. Nari was an island. She wanted to believe she didn't need anyone. Despite her growing a soft spot for Jaeyoung, this was her strongest attempt at pushing him away.
"Let me kill myself if that's what it takes, Jaeyoung!" Y/n screamed at the top of her lungs. She had a wild but steady look in her eye. The girl outside of character noticed the music had been turned down to focus on their words and now the near silence weighed heavy.
Yunho couldn't speak. He forgot what he was supposed to say next. What she said felt real for only a split second. Y/n took a step closer until she was only a foot away from him. A few pieces of hair were falling in her face but she didn't seem to notice or care.
The boy was searching his brain for what could possibly be his line. All he could do was stare at her with a sad expression as the girl fumed in front of him. "That's the difference between you and me." This wasn't in the script. It then dawned on Yunho that Y/n was actually saving his ass and improvising. His eyes searched her own, waiting for what she was going to say next.
"I know existing is as good as I'm going to get." She looked him up and down with her brows furrowed. "Don't fool yourself by thinking you can get by doing anything less."
Yunho's expression changed. Y/n felt chills go down her spine with the way he looked at her, completely unwavering. "Existing isn't enough for me."
Loud cheers and laughs came from a little way down the hall but the two actors ignored them. "Then you're more stupid than I thought-"
Y/n's line was cut off by Yunho falling into her. The group of three rowdy extras squeezed past them and pushed the tall man into the girl, pining her against the wall in the cramped passageway. She felt his lips fumble onto hers and both of their eyes met in shock.
Though it was scripted to happen this way, it still felt like a surprise. Y/n knew this would be cut to end here in editing, but the rest of the scene would play at the beginning of the next episode, so it was better to play through. The two stayed that way for a quick moment before Y/n shoved him away from her.
She wiped her lips, before glaring at Yunho. Her heart was beating eight thousand miles a minute in her chest, but she begged for her face and body to not break and reveal everything she as Y/n was feeling.
"What the hell, Jaeyoung? Hey! You son of a bitch- watch where you're going seriously-" She turned her head to yell at the retreating figures but a hand cupped her cheek and pulled her focus in another direction.
Again her speech was cut off, this time by Yunho taking her in his arms and pressing his lips against her own. His brows furrowed as he tried to keep hold of any control he still had. She was intoxicating.
Y/n prayed that her knees didn't buckle from the sheer passion she felt from the tall man holding onto her. It seemed natural the way his hands found a home at her hip while the other slowly slid from her neck into her hair, tugging her closer.
The second she felt herself start to kiss him back she remembered where she was and what she was doing. With as much strength as she could muster (which was not much at the moment) Y/n pushed Yunho away and without missing a beat slapped him across the cheek.
The tall boy backed away and held onto his cheek, looking at the ground. "Don't follow me," Y/n growled before walking down the hall. Yunho stood there, feeling the camera come closer to capture the look on his face.
"And cut! Y/n, great line. Let's keep it and cut that line before for Yunho. That's much better."
Y/n felt her confident air immediately leave her body and with one wrong step, her ankle twisted making her fall down. She let out a short yelp and braced herself, hands coming out in front of her. Yunho's head jolted towards the sound and he rushed to help her up.
"Oh my god- are you okay?"
"Oh yeah. Totally fine. I just uh.... gravity."
Yunho nodded giving her a soft smile before carefully helping the girl up. She expected him to stay but as soon as she was stable Yunho walked away to go check the footage. The girl was for lack of a better word shocked.
She found herself confused and maybe a little angry that after that...intense...moment he just walked away like nothing happened. Didn't he like her? Why was she so pissed that he wasn't paying attention to her? Realization came across her face just as the director called for a reset of the scene. The makeup crew rushed to the two actors and touched up what had been smudged. Y/n let the girls fix her hair and add another layer of tint to her lips. She did nothing as someone handed her a bottle of water and another slipped a mint in her mouth.
She liked Yunho.
It was torture going through the scene over and over again. By take six, Yunho was having an extremely difficult time restraining himself. How many different angles could they possibly need? Y/n's manager was giving him the side eye every time the director called 'cut'. His throat felt dry and he felt like the guy would come over there and punch him any second now.
Y/n was baffled. They'd kiss. She'd slap him. The scene would end, and Yunho would not even look at her. Maybe the girls were right and she really had fucked up by not texting him back. Maybe he didn't even like her anymore.
"Okay, guys that's a wrap for today! Everyone is free to go! We'll meet next week for the next episode shooting." The production assistant announced. Everybody, including all the staff, rushed to pack up. The costume crew had already told the actors before to just leave everything in the dressing room and they would pick it up for dry cleaning in the morning.
"Thank you for your hard work!" Y/n said with a smile as she bowed to all the passing tech crew. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Yunho start to walk off set and towards the hall that lead to the dressing rooms. "Jaebong oppa, I'm going to uh-....go get changed."
He gave her a thumbs up and started to pack up his things. As she turned away the girl hoped no one would notice the near sprint that propelled her towards the, now closing, soundstage door.
As she entered the empty cream-colored hall lined with doors she spotted Yunho further down. "Hey!"
Hearing a voice, the tall idol turned around and was stunned to see Y/n coming at him with a determined look in her eye. "Hi...What's up? Is everything okay?"
Before she could question herself any more than she was already, Y/n twisted the fabric of Yunho's shirt in her hand before yanking him down to her lips. He was shocked, to say the least. She could feel his body freeze under her touch. Embarrassed, she pulled away and rubbed the back of her neck.
"Sorry..."
He was frozen. Literally frozen. He couldn't bring himself to move or even speak. Did that actually happen? That was real right? He mentally cursed at himself as he watched her walk into a dressing room. His brain needed resetting. Yunho raised a hand and slapped himself- hard. Shaking off the daze he raced after Y/n and closed the door behind him.
It was her turn to be surprised by the sight of her counterpart. Her shoes were discarded by the door and all of the jewelry she was previously wearing was on the counter. Her face was illuminated by the bright glow of the bulbs surrounding the mirror. "Oh, did I go into the wrong dressing room- Oh my god! Your face! Did I do that to you?"
Yunho didn't understand what she was saying until he moved forward and looked in the mirror. A huge red welt was forming on his cheek. "Oh shit- uhhh...I mean that's probably like twenty percent you. I'm pretty sure I did that to myself just now."
A tension-filled silence filled the room. A magnetic pull throbs between the two as his gaze locks onto her. Even as Y/n looks away and starts gathering her everyday clothes, his stare remains fully on her. "Yunho, I'm really-"
The words got stuck in her throat as Yunho approached her with adornment in his eyes. He had looked at her like this many times before but this was her first time seeing it. "Okay, well that's not fair."
"What?" He asked with a laugh that turned his eyes to crescent moons.
"You can't just-....oh what the hell," Again Y/n pulled Yunho towards her, slamming her lips on his. This time Yunho responded immediately, large hands brushing hair away from her face before gently trailing over her neck.
Her arms wrapped around him, pulling herself closer to his embrace. Between the feeling of Yunho smiling against her lips and her feet barely touching the ground, she felt like she was floating.
Holding her securely in his arms Yunho lifted her off the ground, lips never once leaving hers. Y/n let out a small yelp feeling herself being backed into a stray chair. Yunho apologized before setting her on the counter with a dopey grin on his face.
Her eyes flicked back down to his pink swollen lips and she slowly pulled him back into a kiss. Yunho's brain turned into chaos when he felt her hands creep into his hair and softly tug at the dark strands. His teeth nipped at her bottom lip and he reveled in the softness of her skin beneath his hands.
The back of Y/n's head rested on the cool, mirrored, glass as Yunho leaned over her and left slow deep kisses on her beautiful lips. Wanting to be even closer to him, Y/n wrapped a leg around him, leaving little space between their bodies.
"Y/n? Hey, Y/n are you almost done?" Jaebong called from outside the door.
Y/n pulled away, trying to ignore the way her heart skipped a beat as Yunho chased after her lips. She then realized the compromising situation they were in. "Oh, shit-...um...." she whispered, sliding past the tall boy, who was still slightly dizzy from the quite passionate make-out session. "Yeah, just a sec!"
The girl rushed around the room, gathering her things. "So..um..." Yunho tried to form words, but his mind was only just now catching up to what had just happened.
"Could you like turn around or something? Just real quick."
He didn't even remember consciously deciding to turn around but he did. Y/n scrambled out of the club costume and into her shirt and shorts. "Y/n?" Jaebong called out.
"Hold on! I'm coming!" Stuffing her clothing into the chair beside Yunho she bolted out of the room, closing the door behind her. The idol leaned against the counter, looking around the room for a few minutes in silence.
"Wait....what?"

Stolas is very used to having to put on some sort of mask with pretty much everyone.
With his father, he learned to become the dutiful son who was obedient and never showed his emotions beyond what was "respectable" for the situation. He knew he meant little to Paimon beyond the fact that he was to carry on the Ars Goetia name (his birthday certainly wasn't the only time his father forgot his name), and he played that part to perfection. Stolas married Stella, despite having absolutely zero interest in any sort of relationship with her, he didn't complain about …. basically anything.
Because if he ever did, he would be belittled and put down. He was excited about getting his grimoire and learning what his job was going to be, only for that to be immediately followed up with "Also, you're going to marry this person you don't know and the picture I'm showing you is of her actively hurting her pets." And when Stolas understandably reacted to that, he was told "that's an ugly noise" and to "cease this bitch crying."
It certainly wasn't the first time his father told him something like that, and it wouldn't be the last.
He's so drawn to Blitzo at the circus because the performer was clearly excited about what he was doing, and he didn't let his failure to make a balloon horse right away get him down. Instead, he kept trying and when he made a horse without legs, he made a joke about it instead. And when Stolas laughed, he responded to him and appreciated the fact he'd gotten a response, which was also a first for Stolas.
He was already starry-eyed about Blitzo before the latter came to the house because of that tiny interaction, and then suddenly, Blitzo was there, in his house. He had liked that Stolas had laughed at his joke; maybe he could share some things of his own, share any of himself without being scolded for it! Sure, Blitzo wasn't that interested in his books, but he showed Stolas something he'd never had before: how to play games. Stolas was able to have fun and be himself without fear for the first time.
He truly considered Blitzo to be his friend, and if he'd had any way of keeping in touch, he would have.
But that was the last time he was really allowed to behave in any way childishly. Because after that point, he had to become the dutiful son again, focus on his studies. No more carefree days of playing with other children.
And when he came of age, he married Stella. He certainly wasn't interested in their marriage, but he tried very hard to be, hoping that if he put in the effort, it would change how he felt.
But once they had Octavia (when he was only nineteen), it quickly became clear that his marriage to Stella was going to continue to be one of convenience and nothing more. Stolas still tried to be a good husband, so that he could also be a better father than his had been, but even then, he couldn't really let his himself just be.
Stella continued to put him down, insulting him in pretty much any way she could think of, and he couldn't show how much it got to him. Because if he did, then that would only give her something else to throw back at him.
He tried to shield Via from the worst of it, but every year that went by, it got harder and harder to do.
Other than his daughter, he was incredibly lonely, sequestered for much of his life, and controlled in some aspect for so much of it.
It's part of the reason why, when his first friend returned, and showed interest in him, Stolas was so intrigued. He'd never felt wanted before that point, never had anyone express any sort of desire for him, and for it to be this person he'd been himself with, even if it had been twenty five years previous, is so foreign to him.
And so when Blitz is flirting and forward, even then, because he has no idea how to act in this situation because he's never been in this sort of situation before, he tries to match Blitz's energy because that's what he wants, right? And Stolas is used to putting other people's wants before his own.
But as he spends more time with Blitz, especially when they're not just sleeping together, he starts to show more of himself, starts to actually let someone see who he really is. And that's how he has the courage to stand up to Stella, to finally initiate a divorce. Because if someone like Blitz, this bold, courageous, funny, amazing person can see him for who he is and doesn't immediately push him away or hate him, then maybe he can do something for himself for once. Maybe he can make his own life better.
Because now he knows there is a better. He had been trying to stick it out and stay in the marriage, to try to provide Octavia some form of stability, but that hasn't been working, and is, in fact, actively harming his daughter. Which is even more important than his own well-being. He's going to do better so that he can also be better for Octavia, if it's not too late. The status quo hasn't been working, and Stolas is finally figuring out a way to take off his masks, even the ones he wears for himself.

Grandpa Stinky Cared about Girl Stinky
actually...what the hell i'll reshare my old essay about grandpa stinky and girl stinky's relationship. they're on my mind this morning. originally wrote this in like...2018 maybe? maybe earlier. idk it’s several years old, and i made some minor edits. be on the lookout for when i post a big collection of all my old essays to Ao3 LMAO enjoy!
Grandpa Stinky and Girl Stinky’s relationship is honestly one of the most interesting but rarely discussed dynamics in the series...and that’s unfortunate because their relationship is the one instance of Grandpa Stinky actually caring about another living being. And it’s especially tragic once you bring in the fact that Stinky herself did not care about her “grandfather” in the first place.
Throughout the course of season three, Grandpa Stinky is becoming increasingly more aware that Girl Stinky is, in fact, plotting something against him (though he has no clue as to what it is). And while he even goes so far as to hire a private investigator to figure out what exactly she’s doing, he never outright says he blames her or even says he’s particularly angry with her. He takes jabs (“...the talking statue and cockroach demographic…”) at her, sure, but he never says he hates her or shows anything resembling downright resentment. The farthest he goes is saying things like “That woman is up to no good,” or that he’ll have “a little chat with [his] so-called granddaughter.” In fact, when Flint tells him to his face that Stinky is nothing more than a con-artist, do you know how Grandpa Stinky reacts when asked about her? He does nothing but insult Sal. He only ever replies that the duo are “up to something,” but saves every insult he has for the one who didn’t even mastermind the murder plot in the first place.
Even so far back as season two, it’s evident that Grandpa Stinky legitimately cares about Girl Stinky and genuinely considers her a part of his family. For one, he went so far as to sign over the deed to the diner to her in the event of his death. And when he believes he’s turned Girl Stinky back into the Cake of the Damned (though, of course, this is revealed in season three to just be an elaborate illusion and a part of her scheme), he panics and admits that he’s “made a terrible mistake” and needs her back immediately. In his own words, “The girl always was better about keeping her head about her, much as I hate to admit it.” Consider how big of a statement this is for a moment: Grandpa Stinky, one of the most self-righteous and mean characters of the series, just complimented another character and admitted she was better than him at something. Girl Stinky was “his most promising student” and he is very clearly proud of the fact that he “raised” her. She’s more than just a student or protege; she is his family.
This is not to mention the fact that Grandpa Stinky actively wants what is best for his granddaughter, going so far as to think she should court Skun-ka’pe. Girl Stinky even says that her grandfather constantly nagged on her to get with Skun-ka’pe because he’s “going places'' and “has a future.” Not only does Grandpa Stinky see Girl Stinky as his only family, but he also sees her as such an important person in his life that he wants her to have a future past the diner (and maybe even subtly implying he might want great-grandchildren). As much as he would probably never admit it, Grandpa Stinky was a parent figure who actively sought to make sure his granddaughter would have a good life (of course, that doesn’t mean he necessarily understood what she wanted, but I digress).
The Stinky’s are two characters who are similar in respect to how they handle their emotions and how they deal with other people, especially each other. Both have a tendency to put out a very brash and cold exterior, generally pushing people away in an effort to not seem vulnerable, but as evidenced by their respective arcs in season three, both have softer sides to themselves and are obviously capable of caring for people besides themselves. While Girl Stinky may have only truly cared about herself and Sal, it’s wrong to assume that Grandpa Stinky didn’t actually care about his “granddaughter.” Even when he realized she was doing nothing but conning him, he never says he hates her; if anything, he was probably impressed she was able to do it at all. For once, someone was able to break down his rough exterior and make him care about another living being, and it’s no surprise considering she was so much like him. He was proud of her, and he loved her as much as any crotchety old grandfather would.
Also, all this being said, I would genuinely love to see an epilogue of sorts for Grandpa Stinky because I think he’s actually really lonely without her and he would probably be trying to actually perfect the Cake of the Damned or some other recipe. He’d be acting mad because she just proved he didn’t get the recipe right, but in reality just wants someone else to care for and teach. I think he genuinely misses her after her death, and it’s something I’m gonna explore in my fic.

The Suchong rant/theory/speculation
So, I know that a vast majority of the Bioshock fandom fucking hates BAS (Especially on here) for very good reason. But, I will say that, when it isn’t being racist, destroying canon, and insulting all the characters- it does bring a few interesting things to the table. This is especially true for Suchong’s character, his motivations, personality, and his relationship to Jack and Tenenbaum.
Ever since I read the note Tenenbaum left Suchong, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I’ve gone down a bit of a wiki rabbit hole, investigating Suchong and Tenebaum’s characters to answer all the questions that came up. I mean, if Suchong was really as much of a soulless bastard as people like to portray him, why would Tenenbaum try to appeal to his emotions? It makes no sense to me that Tenenbaum would try to appeal to the sensibilities of a man who has given no indication of compassion or remorse.
So, I posit a theory: Suchong and Tenenbaum both began to feel remorse for their actions at roughly the same time, leading to Tenenbaum writing the note to save someone she was friends with and could possibly aid her.
Now, I know this may sound ridiculous but, after applying a little bit of logic, Suchong showing some remorse but going on with his work makes more sense than Tenenbaum appealing to someone she knows doesn’t care about the kids and that she doesn’t care about either. And before I get into my evidence, I am using what is present in the games only as I have not read the novels, nor do I care to.
So, why would Tenenbaum even begin to care about Suchong? Well, one could argue that she just wanted help with the little sisters, but there are plenty of good people in rapture so her bothering with Suchong in particular feels important. Of course, he did do the mental programming on them, but Tenenbaum herself states that the children can grow out of it and forget, so Suchong would really only speed up the de-conditioning process.
Instead, I want to bring forward the idea that Suchong and Tenenbaum were good colleagues, and maybe even friends. Listening to Gilbert Alexander’s audio diary “Improving on Suchong’s work”, it’s easy to hear the sadness in Alexander’s voice, which can imply a lot of things, most prominently that there was some level of camaraderie between them. Other cut audio diaries from Alexander similarly imply a strong amount of sadness about Suchong’s death, furthering this point. Okay, Suchong probably had friends- so what? Well, it means he could’ve easily have had a positive relationship with Tenenbaum! Since we don’t know the date of Suchong’s audio diaries “Mozart of genetics” and “Plasmids are the paint”, we can’t say for sure how long ago those thoughts about Tenebaum were, though both are implied to be early in their relationship. Even while looking down on Tenenbaum, Suchong still very much admired her skill as a scientist, which at least to me, indicates a clear avenue for solidarity and mutual respect between them.
As there are no audio diaries mentioning Suchong and no radio messages giving her clear opinions on him it’s a little tough to gauge her perspective on her colleague. However, Tenenbaum being outright friends with Suchong, I feel, makes much more sense when you take her note into consideration. Tenenbaum’s note being an not only appeal towards someone who can make saving the little sisters easier, but an appeal to a friend, a man she respected, who she raised multiple children with, makes the effort of writing it and putting it in his secret lab make so much more sense! It makes the appeal at all make more sense as well. Tenenbaum is a very hopeful woman, yes, but if she was talking to a friend, someone she knew even somewhat intimately, over a man she barely knows or actively dislikes, then her confidence in convincing him to her side skyrocket.
Now, speaking of kids, let's talk about Jack and the little sisters. I don’t think people really acknowledge that Suchong had put just as much, if not more, work into raising Jack as Tenebaum. I personally think that though Frank was present, he did leave most of the work of raising and training Jack to those two. The little sisters, on the other hand, he had no care for other than funding. Suchong, however, is directly addressed by the girls as “papa’ multiple times, indicating that he is their father figure like Tenenbaum is their mother figure.
Alongside this- there doesn’t seem to be much outright hostility between him and the girls. Of course, in Bioshock 1, there is the ghost scene of the little sister crying about not wanting to be ‘put on the table’ and the infamous ‘protection bond’ audio diary where he slaps a child, but nuance can put those instances in a new light. First, the ghost scene has no context other than the words spoken by the girl, so, this could easily be a case of Suchong turning an orphan into a little sister- still bad, but expected of both him and Tenenbaum. The audio diary on the other hand, as well as the real time version in BaS, does require a deeper analysis.
So, prior to the event, we see Leta and Masha rescue and befriend a big daddy, creating the protector bond, the girls disappear and later re-appear, as we come across Suchong venting to his audio diary, trying to figure out his massive problem. The girls enter and enthusiastically try to get his attention. Now, let’s pause here and ask a few questions. First; why would kids he’s very cruel to regard him with such enthusiasm and second why are they trying to get his attention? My conclusion to answer these questions is as follows; Suchong was NOT as cruel as implied and he communicated his problem with the protection bond to the girls.
If Suchong was super abusive, why would the kids actively seek his attention? Would they not fear angering him if they bother him, especially at work? The enthusiasm the girls have and willingness to approach him (As well as Suchong allowing them to roam around freely) indicates a more relaxed relationship. Despite what he says about children sometimes, calling the girls brats, and generally regarding children as stupid and unruly, there is room to plausibly infer that he didn’t hate them 24/7. Even more so, as evidenced by both of the coded notes, the problem with the protection bond is on the Big Daddies, not the little sisters, their conditioning is well in effect at this time. With the added detail of the girls jumping to find him after the bond is made, then it stands to reason that they understood the problem and were going to tell their papa the good news. I figure that they either sensed a change in his behavior or he outright told them the problem and to find him if there was a change, leaning toward the latter explanation.
Okay, now let's go back to Suchong's death scene. So the girls bug him a bit, don’t take the hint to leave him alone, and he loses his temper and slaps Leta. The girls not taking the hint to fuck off tells me that him telling them to scram is pretty rare. What seems just as rare is slapping one of the girls- Masha rushes to Leta’s side and both seem pretty shocked at the turn. Suchong gets killed by the big daddy and the girls rush to said big Daddy’s arms once he becomes docile again- which one may say implies that they didn’t like Suchong or were happy to see him die. However, I would argue this is mostly the mental conditioning. The girls easily changed their minds about the injured big daddy, going from fear to willingly helping him in an instant. This happens again during the death sequence- what normal child would watch something that violent happen, even to someone they hate, and jump into the perpetrator’s arms? The answer is in the strong mental conditioning- so powerful it overrides any form of logic.
With that out of the way, let’s look at his relationship with Jack. Again, if he really hated the kids, why would he let Jack and the sisters call him papa? Logically, he’d want to distance himself from any kind of parental role- but he didn’t. With Jack especially, he lingered in the old baby room- likely often enough that Tenenbaum knew he’d see her note there. Hell, his damn sandwich is still fresh! I also can’t find any instances of him insulting Jack. He never calls Jack by name, but neither does Fontaine or Tenenbaum, which makes me believe he was only given a proper name after being sent topside. There is also the matter of the puppy Jack had- but we aren’t given enough context on how Jack obtained her to know why she was killed, she could have very well been killed on Fontaine’s orders. Like with the little sisters, I don’t think Suchong was outright cruel to Jack- at least not most of the time. If anything, he gives Jack more respect than the little sisters and potentially prefers him to the girls.
Now, how about Suchong’s personality? I think his personality, other than ‘cruel evil doctor’, and ‘coward’ gets overlooked by the fandom. I’d argue that Suchong isn’t a coward per se, but rather that he won’t pick a fight that he doesn’t think he’s got a chance at. He’ll really only fight people he sees as equals or underlings- caving only to superiors. This is why he made himself useful to the Japanese rather than fight them and it’s why he easily transitioned to working under Ryan after Fontaine ‘died’. He’s smart, he knows when he’s got a chance and when to pick a fight- though he clearly isn’t afraid of bitching about his circumstances or spitting sass. It’s clear that he is greedy for money like a lot of rapture characters, outright stating that it was good that he was the only one who knew about the little sisters after Fontaine and Tenenbaum went down, as well as scientific progress.
I would even go as far as to say that he may have regretted his actions after Jack left or had some weakening towards Jack specifically. I have two reasons for this, first being Tenebaum’s note and the ‘send to Ryan’ note. The verbiage of Tenebaum’s note strikes me as odd- specifically the line ‘It is in your power to be a different man’-  that line screams to me that he has shown some sort of remorse for his actions prior to Tenenbaum leaving. The line ‘They are children… and yes, they will forget’ also strikes me as Suchong not wanting to Kill the sisters and having some kindness towards them. Now the big one to me is ‘What can Ryan take from us that we have not already sacrificed…?’ That tells me Suchong is afraid or hesitant to change because of Ryan. There’s also the note Suchong left for himself.  He clearly planned to send the evidence of Jack to Ryan but something made him chicken out. What event exactly is unclear, perhaps Fontaine's ‘death’ or Tenenbaum's disappearance or the overtaking of his job. Whatever it was, something made him feel brave enough to start a whistleblower plan and something else made him stop.
So, with all the evidence (A.k.a. me pulling at threads) together, let’s set up a very rough timeline for Suchong. He enters Rapture, meets Tenenbaum, and begins working with her on plasmid tech. Initially the two don’t get along and he retains a low opinion of her, but slowly they begin to warm up to one another and some level of respect for each other if not outright friendship blooms between them.
Fontaine then entrusts them with the Little Sisters program, putting them in charge of children for higher ADAM production. With the addition of children, things get complicated. The more immoral side of their work begins to be less excusable as before the little sisters, they really only experimented on adults. The kids are hard to care for but a necessary evil to continue producing Adam to meet customer demand. They cannot sedate the girls so Suchong attempts to alleviate some of the struggle of working with them, as well as encourage his ‘Adam recycling’ by implementing mental conditioning in the girls. This works to an extent, but they nevertheless remain children, in both mental capacity and physical strength.
Fontaine, seeing this mental conditioning, then entrusts the WYK program to Tenenbaum and Suchong. The girls at the orphanage already referred to Suchong and Tenenbaum as ‘papa’ and ‘mama’ respectively, but now they have even more responsibility and intimacy in raising this child. In an attempt to stave off the growing softness for the child they are now raising as a killing machine, Tenenbaum and Suchong don’t name him, only calling him ‘baby’. They recognize the growing instinct they have for the children both in themselves and each other, but do not discuss it, likely because of Fontaine’s eye over them.
Suchong breaks first, giving baby Jack a level of affection that he does not show the girls. Tenebaum sees this but does not say anything, intending to protect her colleague. Fontaine begins to notice Tenenbaum going soft, however, and sets Suchong up to keep lot 192 a secret from her. Project WYK wraps up and they send the baby to the surface, Suchong and Tenenbaum shoving their feelings back down and returning to work on the sisters. Still, Suchong cannot get the baby out of his head, often returning to the child’s secret room to the point of Tenenbaum noticing. Nonetheless things are normal.
Tenenbaum has a change of heart and her actions become far gentler with the girls, which gives Suchong the strength to re-asses and begin a whistleblower plan. That is until Tenenbaum disappears, sapping all his confidence away as Fontaine becomes increasingly erratic. The civil war breaks out and Fontaine vanishes. Suchong is the only person aware of the sisters now, without an employer and needing somewhere to go until Ryan forcefully takes his job over.
At the same time things get bad in Rapture, the Little sisters need protection from being harvested. Suchong can build the big daddies to protect the girls but cannot get them to imprint. The girls are too terrified, despite their mental conditioning, to interact with the big daddies. He explains this problem to the girls, hoping some level of self-reporting may give him a leg up. Mind still stuck on baby jack, he returns to the secret room and finds a note from Tenenbaum, encouraging him to change his ways. Suchong, perhaps feeling betrayed by her simply leaving, rejects the letter and leaves to figure out the big daddy problem angry, leading him to lose his temper at the girls when he normally wouldn’t. Or, perhaps he is stricken with fear, knowing Fontaine is still alive and watching his back. Either way, he dies at the hands of his own creations, at least knowing the girls will be protected now by the big daddies.
So yeah. TL;DR: Suchong, though not the best person, wasn’t entirely evil either and may very well have had the same revelation as Tenenbaum but no chance to act on it/may have backed out because of Fontaine. The way the girls and Tenenbaum act display a certain level of complexity to his character, a hidden softer side where he may have acted much better than his audio diaries initially let on.
One last thing: I want to point out that applying any sort of soulless/heartless characterization to an Asian character like Suchong (The only Asian character in Bioshock 1 and one of four Asians in the entire series) comes with some very nasty racist baggage. Now, it’s no surprise to any of us that Ken Levine is a racist bastard, so his writing characters of color as racist stereotypes is expected. However, I’m disappointed to see no one has directly addressed the fact that the portrayal of Suchong as ‘cold and heartless’ is in and of itself a very old racist stereotype. Everyone seems to only shit on BaS and Infinite’s racism (For good reason) but no one seems to point out the inherent racism in the first Bioshock game. So, my first instinct is to break that stereotype, even if it goes against canon. Because, in the end, when it comes to keeping the integrity of a racist canon versus breaking it and fighting stereotypes in fiction as well as what resides in the racial consciousness of the society I live in, breaking canon will always be the better option. A canon that is shitty should be improved upon by fans, not upheld.

Steve Harrington x fem!reader
Acquaintances to friends to....?
Summary: Were your eyes deceiving you, or had Steve Harrington actually changed? Takes place not too long after season 4
Warnings: language, bit of comfort
3.1k words
Tumblr media
Steve didn't have anything to prove and he wasn't responsible for people's perceptions of him. If they didn't see he had changed -- simply put? Fuck 'em. He didn't want to be weighed down with the burden of proving himself or of showing his value. Too much had gone on around him and to him to actively bother with that nonsense, but he'd be lying if he said that people's perceptions of him didn't bother him. And he hated that reality. His high school persona coupled with his well-off, well-connected, but just crappy parents had laid the shoddy foundation of Steve Harrington. He knew how he had once carried himself, finding validation in his charisma and status and the attention they afforded him. He knew that Tommy H and Carol had been fuel to what ended up being that dumpster fire, too. They had brought it the wrong side of him, had been the wrong company, so he let them go. Or they let him go. Whatever -- they split, and the point is that he didn't shy away from change once he realized it wasn't so daunting.
Maybe the root of his issues with the public's perception of "Steve Harrington" was its incapability of actually seeing Steve Harrington for who he was, who he had become. Steve Harrington was a good guy. He was brave, loyal, courageous, eager, willing, able, caring, and generous, and he didn't try to hide any of it even as he kept discovering things about himself.
And here you were -- two nods shy of basically being a stranger to the guy -- willingly putting in the effort to unlearn the public's perception, your perception of him because you had realized it was wrong. And you had admitted it to him. It was a rarity for Steve to get that kind of validation or acknowledgement (not that you knew that). He still didn't fully understand why you purposefully, actively chose to work through your prejudices toward him, but he couldn't deny that he appreciated it and every admired you for it, even though he initially found your approach to be fairly.... unnerving.
And for good reason, you privately conceded, but shit, the guy was fascinating.
As your respective paths continued to cross, Steve engaged more with you, and the dynamic between you and him morphed into something easier as you moved past general acquaintances into something that definitely more closely resembled friends. Naturally, you also ended up getting more involved with his and Robin's other friends, which, of course, included Nancy Wheeler.
That dynamic was fascinating to watch. It didn't seem like Steve had completely moved on from her. It was so subtle, but it was there, and you couldn't help but notice that Nancy acted delicately with him, as if she knew how he felt but didn't want to encourage it, but didn't want him to feel bad about it either. You wondered if it was because Steve just hadn't been in another relationship since theirs had ended. Judging from Robin's banter with him, he went out on dates, but it was pretty obvious that nothing landed. Honestly, you were surprised he hadn't run through the whole town yet, as small as it was and as suave as he could be, but maybe he had, and that's why he wasn't with anybody. Maybe none of it really mattered, in the end, and something would happen when it was supposed to. If it was supposed to.
Here you were thinking about Steve Harrington again.
"Get kicked out?" Steve asked you as he took his own chunk of the pool's edge a little further down from you.
The boys from the younger crew had already been taken home by Nancy after spending a few hours at Steve's for the pool. You, Vickie, Robin, and Nancy had been hanging out up until then, splitting the time between talking and lounging and making sure the young teens were being safe, but now it was just you, Robin, and Vickie left outside as the sun finished setting. It didn't take long for the third wheel syndrome set in, so you found yourself sitting on the edge of the pool while the other two canoodled in the chairs.
"Self-extrication," you clarified. The two girls giggled behind you, and you and he shared an amused look. "I really need to start driving myself around or be the one to pick up Vickie, because it's pretty clear how all of these get-togethers are going to end." He laughed out an affirmative.
A metallic squeak sounded from one of the chairs as Robin got up and came over to ask, "Would you hate us if we headed out?" Her eyes darted between your and Steve's upturned faces, then she scrunched up her own, bracing herself for a plea from you both for her and Vickie to stay. You looked over at Steve, Steve looked at you, and then you both looked back at Robin as she continued to cringe. She cracked one of her eyes open, then deflated and pleaded, "Oh, come on, guys. We want to get food before the movie."
"You know you don't have to ask, right?" you told her.
She snorted, saying, "Of course, but we would be leaving you, once again, with this one's company." She jabbed her thumb toward Steve, who scoffed at her saying under his breath, "Like that's a bad thing."
"Look, Steve, all I'm saying is that she's one of the very few who you haven't – "
"Jeez, Robin," he interrupted with a grimace.
" – gone out with, and I can't have the – "
"God, stop. She'll be fine. You'll be fine," he assured you. You gave them both an amused look and waved Robin off with, "I'm not worried about it."
"Mhmm," she said flatly, eyeing Steve suspiciously. "Behave," she told him, gesturing 'I'm watching you' with her fingers.
Steve scrunched his face in confusion and waved his hand, saying, "You're literally leaving." You laughed when she rolled her eyes and flipped him off as she and Vickie walked away.
"Jesus," he breathed, giving you an unsure look that you actually missed. He hoped that hadn't weirded you out, because what Robin had alluded wasn't his intention.
"She's funny," you said, putting your weight on your palms as you leaned back, bare feet dangling in the water. It was a nice night. The sky was clear, the moon was rising, and it wasn't ridiculously humid.
The silence between you now wasn't like what loomed over you in his car that night a few weeks ago when he took you home. He was the first to break it this time, though.
"Do you want me to take you home?"
You took in a deep breath, coming out of letting your mind wander through nothing in particular. "Yeah, if you want."
He shrugged. "You don't have to. Not trying to kick you out or anything." He was watching the movement of the water.
"Your house, your rules, bud," you said with a smile, bobbing your heel on the surface of the water. He breathed out a laugh through his nose.
"Seen any good movies lately?"
You smirked to yourself and thought There it is. "Nope."
"Really?"
You doubled down by shaking your head at him, eyes twinkling as you smirking at his incredulous expression.
"Have you seen any movies lately?" Steve figured you probably had, because you had followed the instructions on the note he'd left to return the movies to Family Video.
You narrowed your eyes at him and cocked your head to the side. "Huh. Funny you should ask that. Some creeper left a bag of C tier space opera tapes on my porch."
He looked away and groaned out an incredulous "oh my god" through a laugh.
"I almost didn't watch them, because people are crazy and you never really know what's on a tape until you watch it."
Steve's eyebrows shot up in an amused expression and he dangled his arm aross the knee he just pulled up, waiting to see how far you were going to take this. You couldn't keep looking at him, otherwise you'd break, so you looked back at the water, then continued.
"I thought about putting up some 'be on lookout' posters of the guy that did it." You moved your foot through the water. "I figured Robin could sketch him for me. I got a good look at him."
He gasped in faux awe. "You did?"
"Oh yeah," you said gravely. "He had some pretty defining features, too," you admitted, chancing a look back at him, letting your eyes flick up to his hair. "I'm thinking people would recognize him."
"Jesus," he breathed to himself as he smiled and shook his head incredulously. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know about your apparent video tape trauma," he shot at you with a grin as you laughed at him. "You were home?"
"Yeah," you snickered. "You had good timing, too. I was bored out of my mind." You shifted on the concrete.
"If you want some real C level movies, Robin's loaded with recommendations. She loves those ridiculous sci-fi movies from the 60s."
"Sounds like you found out the hard way." He gave you a tortured, pleading look that made you laugh again.
"The storylines typically aren't that bad, but my god, the acting and execution?" He thought of something and started laughing. "There was this one movie that was part of a series–"
You gave a sympathetic oof.
"Yeah," he said with a knowing look. "This alien guy was working for this group of alien women, all babes–"
You snorted.
" – and one of them and this guy were casually walking through this military base or something and absorbing people by opening up his big black trench coat and wrapping it around them. The alien babe with him would just set her bag down and put their clothes and shoes in the bag, and then they'd just walk off like nothing happened." He saw your screwed up face and yielded, "I swear I'm not doing it justice, it was so dumb. The fight scenes were surprisingly badass, though."
"If you guys have it, I'll rent it." Curiosity had the better of you.
"I'll ask Robin about it." He gave you a sly grin. "So the Star Wars movies weren't bad, huh?"
You looked anywhere but at Steve as you ran your tongue over your teeth and tried not to smile.
"Hmm?" he goaded. God.
You huffed. "They weren't that bad," you repeated louder with a little difficulty, which made him laugh. In playful retaliation, your foot surged over the surface of the pool, sending a spray of water in his direction, but your half-hearted effort ended up being a little too effective. You and Steve both gasped as the water splashed onto his lap, and you both froze: you with wide eyes and your hands over your mouth, Steve with his hands suspended in front of him as if they could stop the wave.
"Oh my god, Ste–" you started, but he silenced you with a huffed laugh and an unconvincing, "I'm kicking you out now," as he moved to get up.
"No, that's understandable. "You got up too. "Let me get you a towel or something," you offered, definitely forgetting you knew basically nothing about his house.
"Really?" he snorted. "Do you even know where anything is?" he said over his shoulder as you and he moved toward the back door.
"No…." you said in a small but guilty voice. "I could find a bathroom and hope for the best."
He laughed. "I'll just change." He brushed off your apologetic grimace. "Don't sweat it, I'll be back." He disappeared into the depths of the house, leaving you just inside the back door.
You couldn't help but notice how impersonable the space looked and felt. What you could see of the house was nice, but it came off as staged and cold and unlived in. You couldn't help but wonder how a space of his own would look if given the chance. He seemed like he would want a cozy space, definitely seemed like a blanket pers–
"That's better."
You jumped with his announcement and turned to see him looking at ease in a pair of black sweats and a tshirt he's swapped his polo out for.
"I can head out now."
His eyebrows raised a little in surprise, then he gave you a slight questioning look, to which you nodded in confirmation with your lips pressed together.
"Mkay." Steve grabbed his keys, and you followed him to his car.
"So they 'weren't that bad' huh?" He asked as he pulled out of his driveway.
Your head hit the back of the seat in response to his determination, but you were smiling. "No, they definitely unique."
"So are you a Luke girl or a Han girl?" He gave you a teasing smile, drawing from something a Family Video customer had said about girls liking one or the other. You countered his question with a frown, saying, "Neither?" as if it were the most obvious thing. He hadn't expected that response, so you clarified. "Luke's a fledgling that goes off and suddenly becomes a badass with barely an explanation, and Han is a hot shot, selfish, and shady, and he's a bit of a dick."
As the words tumbled out of your mouth, you couldn't help but draw parallels to some of those descriptors and Steve, then you thought of how Han was brave, had a heart of gold, and stuck around when it counted, even if you didn't know the full extent to which that applied to Steve. Shit. You didn't want to dwell on that, didn't want to leave an empty space for either of you to think about that, so you added, "Nobody even addressed the fact that Leia witnessed the destruction of her whole damn planet, which definitely should have played a bigger role in the story. Didn't they even fly through the remnants?"
"I think so," he said, turning down a street.
"That's pretty fucked up." He agreed with you, letting the soft radio music go the silence for a while before you snorted and said, "At least I know where that insane voice you did came from now."
Steve laughed.
"It was a good impersonation," you assured. "A little too good, almost."
"I'm a man of many talents." He smiled to himself. "Speaking of that, how's the whole unlearning thing going?"
You gave him a surprised look. "Well that's bold of you to ask. I thought you left the ball in my court for updates?"
Steve shrugged. "You haven't given any."
"Maybe I don't have any to give."
"Am I that hopeless?" He gave you a pitiful look. You rolled your eyes and sat in silence for a few minutes, trying to ignore how the glances he gave you.
"You really want an update?" He nodded slowly, almost lazily as he looked toward the road. "Alright." You took a deep breath. Here it goes.
"You wear your heart on your sleeve, but you hide. It's obvious that you and Robin and Nancy and the others have been through. . . . something. I'm not asking what that is, because it seems really heavy and it's obviously none of my business."
Steve shifted in his seat. "It wouldn't make any sense, anyway," he offered with a worn grimace as he reached around and pressed his hand lightly against his side. It was a small movent, but you noticed it.
You choked the questions down and continued, "But from what I've seen, Steve? Overall, you're just a good guy that's shed his shitty high school persona and come into himself more. And you're getting used to getting comfortable with it."
He could see he was processing your words,so you let that linger, then continued, getting braver the closer you got to your house, knowing you'd be able to jump out soon. "You seem hard on yourself, though. Like, unnecessarily so." You absentmindedly scratched at your arm, unsure if you should keep going out of fear of overstepping, but you did. "You should be proud of yourself, Steve. I don't know if it means much, but I'm proud of you. Robin adores you, and the kids wouldn't trade you for the world, even though they give you a hard time sometimes."
The mood had shifted in the car, that was a surety, but it also showed in his body language as his thumb brushed against the top of the steering wheel while he bit the inside of his cheek. Maybe he had expected some half-hearted assurance that he could easily brush off, suddenly forgetting that you had zero issues with being frank with him, but he literally had zero escape through everything you just said.
He did now that he was parked in your driveway, though, and you wanted to give that to him. You said a quick apology for making him uncomfortable, again, then got out and started toward your front door, but looked back in the blinding headlights of his BMW when he called your name like a question. His outline, blurred by the lights in your eyes as you squinted toward him, grew closer to you, then was in front of you, then was all around you as he wrapped you in a genuine, heartfelt hug. The gesture surprised you, and it took a moment for you to reciprocate, but when you did, you both relaxed into it and just stood there.
"Sorry if this is weird." The vibrations of his voice through his chest made you relax even more. "But that was…" He trailed off, not really knowing what to say or how to convey what he was feeling, so he just let the embrace do it for him.
It was nice. Shit, it was more than nice, it was one of the best hugs you'd ever had. Warm, firm but soft, surprisingly not awkward, just genuine. You felt valued, a realization that made you misty-eyed because you knew he was channeling his own feelings into this. A few moments later, he shifted and you pulled apart from each other.
"Are you okay?" you asked him softly.
Steve sniffed and nodded, one hand on his hip, the other running through his hair out of instinct. "You really think all of that? I know I'm not the same, but it's weird hearing it from other people." He couldn't help think about what Eddie had said to him in the Upside Down a few months back.
"Well yeah." You looked away from him and added, "You should stick up for yourself, too, by the way." The way the younger kids and even Robin joked around with him sometimes didn't sit well with you.
"Yeah…." he said, eyes cast to the ground.
"If you don't, I will." You bumped into him with a little grin, trying to get him to smile. "I'm not above kicking some underfreshman ass if the situation calls for it." He finally huffed out a laugh and pushed slightly back into you with a soft "Thank you."
"Thank you for the ride again." You turned and moved toward your door, adding, "Be safe going home," then, "Watch out for deer!" before you closed the door. The distant sound of his laugh muffled through the door made you smile.

(Keep in mind I haven't seen the movie, just the trailers, and I don't have interest in seeing it. This post is not about the movie's story, it's about the animation.)
My first reaction to seeing Wish's trailer: The animation looks ugly.
It looks unfinished. Like this was a test screening or something.
I was gonna say 'it looks like a fan-Disney animation'. Except that would be insulting to fans who put months of effort into making their little animations to share on the Internet, and said fans just have less expectations than major studios do.
It's supposed to look like 'the hybrid style'. Like what the Spiderverse movies did. It's supposed to look 'creative' and 'unique' to anything else.
Except, this is a perfect example of a movie trying to copy Spiderverse's art style, with no clue what even made that art style good in the first place.
I'm not saying 'every movie that's done the hybrid animation is bad'. Most of them are actually really good. But there is something about Spiderverse's animation that remains very significant and masterful in its own way.
(And yes I've heard about the abuse of the animators to make Across the Spiderverse. Like... don't do that Sony. Your workers deserve a good work/life balance.)
The animation isn't made that way just to 'be unique'. The animation actively tells the story and elevates the narrative.
(That's another thing: Just make a good story first.)
The comic strips are there to give the impression this is a living story you are reading as well as a homage to Spider Man origins. The textboxes showing a character's internal thoughts. The different animation styles on each character depending on the dimension they're from to tell you their background. Certain visual cues to enhance the comedic moments. And so on. You could basically do a full analysis on multiple scenes of these movies just from what the visuals tell you.
The animation isn't 'unique' to 'be unique from other Hollywood movies', it's 'unique' to tell the story.
Say, you're deaf. And your hearing aids are faulty that day when you're watching the movies. The visuals aid in helping you understand the story.
Take, the first scene with Gwen and her dad in Across the Spiderverse. It's more than just 'ooh, her dimension is pretty'. Her and her dad are different colors in the room because of their separation because of the situation at hand, there's a block between them being fully honest and close like they used to, and the colors are telling you this. And when their colors merge when Gwen hugs him? That's showing you the ideal they want. It's beautiful.
And I didn't even tell you any of their dialogue or the context of that scene, that's just from what the visuals are telling you.
Why is Wish's style the way it is?
Uh, I think it's supposed to be 'it's a fairy tale storybook'. But that's it.
It's not even that unique. The character models look very much like the 2010s CGI character models, just cheaper rendered. Some backgrounds, like the forests, look good, but the characters look awkward standing in it because there's no good lighting to make me believe they're standing there. (this isn't a 'realism' issue. Again, do Spiderverse characters look awkward standing in their respective backgrounds? Except for when that's intentional because story reasons?)
That's why I said it looks unfinished, because it does look like an unfinished CGI Disney movie, but apparently it's intentional??
I'm not against Disney trying to be unique. I want that, actually. Once Upon A Studio is an example done right, actually. But from what I've heard, this movie's story is the most un-unique thing they've ever made. 'Unique animation' can't hide that. And if reviews are focusing more on story, that's an indicator.
Tell the story first. Then you can figure out what animation style is best for enhancing that story.
I wanted to share this cause it was something me and my GF discussed after I showed her Across the Spiderverse, and we talked about this very thing. I also just want to say I'm not trying to 'hate on Disney', even with all the bull they've done this year. I'm on the side of people that really liked Elemental. I liked Once Upon A Studio. I'm someone who just wants to see the studio be better. (And I know they're not gonna listen to feedback like this. I really hope their act is gotten together.)
