Favorite Funkeys of each realm:
Funkeystown: Waggs and Dot (I can’t choose one I’m sorry)
Waggs has just a really cute design and bio, and Dot has a really cool design and a somewhat sad bio.  I just like these two based on design and bio mainly.
Kelpy Basin: Twinx
The first Funkey I had, (And one of the only ones I had)  She was the one that got me into UB Funkeys in the first place.  I just loved her design, her bio, kinda just everything about her.  Also I based Dia off of her and Lucky.
Laputta Station: Vroom
Another design and bio that I really love.  They were on my list of Funkeys that I really wanted when I was a kid. They had a cool club house, and a really fun-looking minigame.
Magma Gorge: Stitch
I honestly used to be kinda scared of them, but now I just think they’re really cute.
Funkiki Island: Flurry
Another wishlisted Funkey that I never got. They have awesome shades of blue, green, and red.
Nightmare Rift: Snipe
The quotes and bio alone do this for me.  Like, how do you tell someone that they’d be a good hostage just by sitting around doing nothing and not laugh.
Daydream Oasis: Lucky
Love their design and their little clubhouse.  I love the vibe they give off, and I really wanted one of them.
Hidden Realm: Raj
It's a tiger Funkey. A tiger! Of course it's going to be a favorite.
Paradox Green: Mulch
Their bio sounds cool and yet kinda funny. I also love their unique design and game creating mechanics.

i vote that next year instead of reading Dracula we do a Jeeves & Wooster Book Club. those two never got the rabid tumblr shipping fandom they deserved (disqualified for the sheer technicality of being published a century too soon). we must correct this injustice

A devastating and confusing thing about the Fallout setting, when you explore the pre-war aspects, is what the creators think about pre-war America. In the first games we only get hints of the pre-war world, but they seem to be some sort of wild fascist nation invading Canada. In Fallout 1, the first thing we're introduced to of the pre-war society is seeing a soldier shoot civilians and laughing.
Now, for the first 2 games and New Vegas we don't really know much. What we know is that there's a fascist military group known as the enclave who were a sort of US deep state even before the war, and that the government teamed up with corporate interests to preform vaguely MKULTRA-ish experiments with the Vaults. Basically, the government was an extreme version of the 50s American jingoism and McCarthyism.
This is well and dandy, I guess issues come up more when we get to the later games, especially 4, where it seems like none of this extreme plotting and societal civil unrest which would exist is seen. The society as presented in 4 also seems quite progressive, gay people are featured in the opening, and none of the baggage of say, civil rights not existing are included. Now on a baseline, I don't want settings to be more conservative, homophobic and sexist etc., but it becomes a very confusing setting when it's displayed both as this jingoist extreme thing with fascist tendencies aswell as a progressive place where everyone is seemingly equal. If you're focusing on the 50s as your setting, and American nationalism in the 50s, then you can't have McCarthyism spoofs and anti-communism as a societal paranoia norm while also general equality is the norm without misunderstanding why McCarthyism and nationalist jingoism is bad. A massive harm done in anti-communist paranoia is how it degrades and vilifies any progressive movements (women's rights, civil rights, homosexuality) as being morally un-American and therefore connected to communism. To ignore this just makes any critique of MacCarthyism and jingoism weird!
Basically, pre-war America in Fallout 4 becomes this both sides thing where America is both pure and equal and white fences in every instance that we see as the player (the intro), while also supposedly being this dystopic MacCarthyist hellscape that's broadcasting gladly about their war crimes in Canada, and wants to root out communism. I guess the only fix for this issue without getting into the fine print like they had to do is just not to focus too much on the pre-war world.

I just don’t understand how some people will sit here and nitpick these shows. Because of course I want it to be accurate, but more than anything I want it to have the same heart as the original. I want to be able to immerse myself in that world, not criticize every single thing that might not be the same. I want to experience my childhood again, and this show did that. Regardless of any differences, it had the essence of the book, so who cares about the details? This is what I waited years for, and it’s finally here and god damn it I’m gonna enjoy every second and experience the warm fuzzies again.

I don't care about Nico and Bianca's casting. I care about watching Thalia get so angry at Bianca for leaving her little brother when she never got a second chance with her own. I care about the look on her face when Percy tells her that Bianca is joining the hunters. I care about her looking over the San Francisco skyline and coming to terms with the fact that her not-so-little sister doesn't need her anymore, and she will never see her little brother again, even though he is only a few miles away. I care about those being the things that convince her to join the Hunt. I care about her seeing Jason in Nico's eyes.

I absolutely love how casual the Seaweed Brain name drop was! It would have been so easy to make it a big moment, or to have Leah put emphasis on it, but no. Because to us it's huge, but to the characters it doesn't mean anything yet. It was perfect.

the thing about bad buddy is that calling it enemies to lovers is not entirely wrong and is a very succinct and easy way to indicate the general plot, but also one of the only moments that the two main characters are actually personally in conflict with each other lasts about four minutes and is expressed mainly through upset shirtless xylophone playing contrasted with a montage of happy moments that features a time there was triumphant shirt-wearing xylophone playing. and then they both say sorry at literally the exact same time

actually one of the details that frustrates me the most from TSATS, relating to how much the book completely erases or absolutely bastardizes neurodivergence, is how Percy's cameo is characterized.
One of the consistent things aspects of Percy's relationship with the education system throughout the series is that Percy is smart, and he does try in school, but he has a learning disability. The only reason he gets bad grades is because he has a learning disability and the way the modern american education system is built is inherently at odds with that. In the first series we actually have explicit references to Percy doing better in school when he's in environments that actually accommodate for his disabilities! It's not that he's not trying, he's disabled.
So it is so disheartening and horrible to see Percy characterized in TSATS as just being disinterested in school, and his failing grades being made a joke about implying him ditching classes because he just doesn't care. That's the number one ableist thing ADHD/dyslexic students hear! Implying that they "just don't care" and dismissing their disabilities. It is so horrible to see that joke being made in the Percy Jackson series of all franchises. Especially when you add that on to the rest of the quite frankly ableist characterizations in TSATS and how much the book erases Nico and Will's disabilities/neurodivergence.

it might seem like im just a totk hater, and to be fair, i AM, but its not bc i think its bad in every way- if it was all bad, ok, then its all bad and we can forget it happened and can all accept that-
but totk specifically hit the jackpot of -things that frustrate me so much i cannot let go and need to talk about it-
its part of my current hyperfixation (or whatever is the right word), botw is one of my all time favorite games, and that one had so many mysteries i was DEEPLY invested in, its got great music and some absolutely fanatstic moments, some ideas are great to fine, but it doesnt make sense, i hate time travel like little else in games, it constantly contradicts itself, the franchise, even its previous game its supposed to be a sequel to, i felt like i was made fun of by the game itself, for caring so much about what they had set up or done in botw, the moment i saw what they did to the shrine of life i felt so devasted i could hear people pointing and laughing at me for having cared about it, the writing treating me like i am so brainless i cannot connect dot one and two when there are only two dots in front of me labeld 1 and 2 that it then tells me to connect directly, to my face, multiple times, before showing me how to draw a line, its full, so SO FULL of missed opportunities, its got choices in there that are just nothing but frustrating bc there were a hundred other ones, i can see what you could do wit hthe basic ideas, theres people that worship it to a point you cant say anything even mildly critical, even about objectively bad things (there is no excuse for that godawful arrow menu) bc they will jump at you like a rabid animal-
i could go on but you get the point, never in my life has anything hit me like that

Anyways I watched Etho's Last Life recently and the way he spends the whole entire season trying to keep Bdubs off Red Life, convincing person after person to give up just one life to keep Bdubs by his side forever... And yet he never gives up one of his own. Not once. Even near the end, when things are tense and when he's the only person with a life left to spare, he puts a condition on it. He doesn't want to give up his own life, so he hesitates and dances around it and. He looses Bdubs. He waited to long, protested too much, and he was too late.
In Secret Life, Bdubs once says to Etho that even though he's Red he won't hurt him, that even if he got a task telling him to 'You Must Attack Etho' he would just fail. And Etho doesn't make the same promise back, he calls Bdubs loyal, and says he's the best, but when prompted to say he would fail for Bdubs too, all he has to say is "I don't think I'd go that far, Bdubs", before they're interrupted with change of topic
I just. I don't even have anything to add because that really just speaks for itself, y'know? He loves Bdubs, he loves him so much. But Etho just. Doesn't, or Can't maybe, sacrifice everything for Bdubs in the way Bdubs would for Etho
