TAEIL

i feel like taeil would want someone closer to his age (+/-), unless,,, UNLESS he finds someone he really clicks with (like haechan for eg) if they’re at a younger age

if he really does then taeil will 100% make the effort

ngl taeil would love a person taller than him, would worship the shit outta them

if he gets teased for being shorter he doesnt care LMAO this man will have his hand around your middle and eye the other person mockingly

would love when you own your appearance with confidence, he likes to be by your side to admire how comfortable you feel in your skin

the language barrier will be a bit awkward a first tho, but if you know minimal english, i think that’s more than enough for jaehyun to at least steer the convo!

jaehyun is the guy to always give me first love, love from high school vibes so he’s usually the one to embrace you, but LOVES it when you’re the one to initiate contact and affection

xiaojun would... not go into an r/s with a foreign partner i feel, but he will TRY if the conversation is not too awkward, save for like activities and such. like others in this post, he’ll make an effort if he’s committed to you, and only if you’re sure of dating him as well

an s/o who can calm him down. chenle uses up his energy a lot and can get worn out and just wants someone to embrace at the end of the day. i wouldn’t say its similar to taeyong who’s sometimes tired from taking care of the members, but rather in a way where it’s a little playful and bubbly in your own little circle.

it’s a different kind of happy that chenle feels with you as opposed to the joy that the members bring him.

chenle also would want someone who’s sure of themselves, more so in personality rather than apperance. he likes all sizes and colours and styles, altho leans more toward the oversized sector

SUNGCHAN

sungchan is bit mischievous, so i feel like he naturally lean towards an s/o who can kinda be the “mother slash partner” of him: either the same age or younger, leaning more toward a same aged s/o

lawd this man is so tall. i think he’d want a shorter partner, sometimes a bit awkward with the affection but overall likes to give it. plus point: he likes to see you struggle wrap your body around his to get all of him in your cuddles

jisung wants someone who’s self-assured as well, strong in mettle and who has a strong character that helps him build up his drive. seeing you in your element helps him achieve more and he appreciates that you are able to provide him with a source of motivation

Abridged history of early 20th century Chinese womenswear (part 3.1: 1920s-silhouette)

*Disclaimer: I mostly talk out of my bum so don’t ask me for academic sources, I would love to know where they are but I haven’t found any reliable ones. I only share my own observations so please read me for filth if I’m wrong.

Intro/Context

In the 1920s the dominant form of womenswear was still technically the aoqun, however one piece dresses, sometimes with a fake vest, became popularized later in the decade and that could be considered a kind of proto-cheongsam. Many scholars and people on the Internet have different theories as to which particular garment was the true predecessor to the cheongsam but I think that’s a pointless quest, everything went in 1920s fashion and many styles bearing the same silhouette coexisted and they were all valid, it’s just that the one piece dress emerged victorious in the 1930s as the dominant form of womenswear. Looking at 1920s fashion with the sole purpose of finding the origins of cheongsam doesn’t do the decade justice.

In the 1920s Western influence also became more visible and many Art Deco designs were integrated into Chinese fashion, making it an all round exciting and creative decade for Chinese fashion.

Silhouette

In the early 1920s, the hem of the robe was similar to the mid-1910s ao from my previous post, hitting about the top of the hips. The sleeves became somewhat wider, but not reaching the widest point until the mid 20s. The skirt became shorter, usually mid calf, and was not as full as the pleated skirt of the previous decade. I was not able to find a lot of information about early 20s fashion but from the few contemporary drawings I did find (such as the one below) the outer robe of the previous decade seem to have become sleeveless in some occasions, resembling more of a vest, exposing the sleeves of the undershirt. Put a pin in this as the vest style will become quite prominent later in the decade.

Aoku (robe with pants) was still considered a fashionable way of dressing in the early 20s, then it started to fade out of popularity. The pants of the early 1920s were shorter and less form fitting than those in the 1910s, usually ending below the knee, allowing stockings to show, which could be very colorful and elaborate.

Around the mid 1920s the skirt began to shorten, eventually reaching knee length, a development similar to that in Western fashion at the time. Pleating became fashionable again; instead of the mamian style pleating with flat sections in the front and back popular in previous decades, mid to late 20s skirts were completely pleated along the waistline, giving them an all round even fullness. Mid to late 1920s skirts commonly had wide hems, which could be decorated with embroidery, trimmings, scallop edges or other Western finishes. The sleeves were half length or shorter and became wider at the bottom, a style commonly known as 倒大袖.

Around the same time, the proto-cheongsam one piece dress look was also being popularized. In the mid 1920s this style was usually knee length, with short sleeves and a high collar; they could also have the fake two piece effect, giving the appearance of a separate vest/tunic being worn. These dresses could have flared hems or short slits down both sides to allow freedom of movement. Interestingly, these dresses were tighter and more body-hugging than Western women’s dresses at the time, which were baggy and rectangular.

Another thing about 1920s Chinese fashion is that I rarely see long-sleeved women’s garments, even in images supposedly depicting fall/wintertime. The more common way to fight off cold weather throughout the 1920s and 30s was to wear Western coats, especially Paul Poiret style fur wrap coats. I recall a lady in a contemporary film saying that coat design of this period was dominated by Parisian trends.

Late 20s Chinese womenswear was quite easy to identify. The skirts in aoqun outfits became longer, usually ankle length, with very wide hems. They had a tube like silhouette but were quite full, so I deduce that they were constructed from rectangular panels that were then cartridge pleated or gathered around the waistband. The waistline of the bodice (I don’t think these could be considered separate robes anymore...) rose quite significantly, ending at the natural waist. This was a divergence from the Western silhouette, which remained rectangular until late 1929.

By the end of the 1920s there were four main styles of womenswear: the two piece aoqun with robe and skirt, the three piece set with robe, vest and skirt and the proto-cheongsam one piece dress. These styles coexisted; it was the silhouette (length of skirt, sleeve shape etc.) that changed throughout the decade and these changes applied to all styles. Interestingly, I don’t think I have seen photos of 1920s Chinese women wearing actual Western fashion, which is weird considering the level of westernization in the 20s and how easy to make and accessible 20s Western clothing was, in addition to the fact that many women in neighboring Japan had already adopted Western clothing.

Chinese women began wearing Western fashions in very small numbers beginning in the 1900s, but I guess because of the elaborate nature of Edwardian clothing and the lack of corsetry traditions in China it was expensive and not really popular. I have only seen uber-rich Chinese women in portraits wearing Western fashions. If a lady wanted to show Western influences in her fashion sense it was usually by using Western decorations or fabrics to make her Chinese clothes, or by wearing Western accessories.

I think it’s of some importance to discuss the methods for pattern drafting and construction. Chinese clothing began to become more form fitting in the late 20s, however it should be noted that this form-fitting shape was not achieved by Western dressmaking methods i.e. shaped pattern pieces and darts/tucks, but rather using the historical Chinese method of pattern drafting 平裁; Western dressmaking techniques would not be commonly used on Chinese garments until the 1950s. With this method, the front and back pieces of a robe/bodice would be two identical T shapes with overlapping parts at the front right closure. Historically (I mean in the Ming Dynasty) the overlapping bits at the front would be cut separately and then attached to the front pieces, resulting in a seam down the center front 中缝 that many people consider to be a staple of hanfu, although I’m not sure if this method was used before or after the Ming Dynasty. Similarly, I’m also not sure if this was the way 1920s/30s bodices were constructed, they may as well have two separate whole front pieces joined to the back piece at the shoulder and underarm/side seams. Until I get my hands on a period original this shall remain a mystery unless someone enlightens me (please). Anyway, bodices constructed in this method are not three dimensional and could be laid flat on a surface; this method was also used in other East Asian countries, maybe you have seen that when kimonos are laid or hung flat they have a T shape as well.

author’s note: I received a request about Y/N being a heiress and my mind just go directly to royalty so I guess this could be cool? I tried lol. And also, I just wanted to share that I wrote this listening to ‘’Ophelia’’ by The Lumineers and ‘’The Book of You & I’’ by Alec Benjamin.

You and Harry scheduled to meet in the British Museum situated in the Bloomsbury area of London even though it was a public space, it wouldn’t be a surprise as people already knew that you and harry new each other. You both met on the Dunkirk premiere which you attended together with your brother Harry. Harry(Styles) was such a gentleman, he actually were nervous. As a British man he respects the royal family as much possibler than he can, and he would never want to make neither you nor your brother to feel uncomfortable.

But anyway, you both scheduled there because Harry had been in England for a while and as you stayed friends it just felt right to meet up. You actually felt really tired, emotionally tired. You were so used to traveling the most amazing places with friends and now being basically locked up at The Buckingham Palace because of the corona virus felt draining for you. So when Harry came up with the meeting you were so glad to finally be leaving home, and Harry has always been the type of person who you felt like you could talk openly and be exactly who you want to be, and we don’t even have to say that the British museum it’s probably one of your favorite places in London. You were enamored by art, and there were so many interesting things in there and every time you’ll go there you’d find something new.

It was 9am and the museum it’s actually closed now but you did have some perks. You were in the Egyptian part accompanied by your bodyguard Jasper, when you suddenly listened the rough voice of you dearly friend coming closer to you making you turn yourself to look at him getting closer. He greeted you with a simple hug in which you reciprocated by opening a slight smile looking at him.

— Hello, darling — Harry said while using his hands to style his short and messy hair with a smile on his face. — How are you?

— Hi, I’ve been good, just tired! But what about you? — You asked as you both started to walk through the beautiful masterpieces — How’s your mom and Gemma? — You had that really strong British accent, which Harry understood completly, and he really likes it. He thinks it’s the cutest thing. Actually, Harry thought everything about you were extremely cute, you both have a little crush on each other but as you already told him a lot of times before, just the thought of how many things he’d have to leave for because of the royal regulation made you sad for him. You’d never ask him for something like that.

— They’re good but... — Harry stopped walking looking fixedly to your face trying to analyze your emotions by their expressions — Why are you tired? I mean, I understand it must be really bad living in a castle but anyway, what happened? — Harry said smirking at you and your reaction of laughing and rolling your eyes at him.

— Haha, really funny! You should be a humorist — You answered mocking a bit and running your right hand through your hair as you started walking again — And I asked you how were you, you won’t answer? I’ll lock you in the dungeon for your audacity! — You both always joked like this because when you first started being friends, Harry had all that idea about the old royalty with dungeons and prisoners so you’d always make fun of him for that.

— Alright, alright! I'm good, they're good, we're all good. Now, tell me! — Harry said putting his right hand slightly on your shoulder making you stop walking and look at him with all your attention. You sighed trying to form your words to explain exactly what you were feeling to him.

— I don't know, I'm just... I'm so tired of the routine, you know? I wish I could just go out to do the craziest things and not be recognized. — You were looking straight to Harry's green eyes, it felt like they were watching your soul because e was giving you his full atention. The boy really did care about you. He stayes quiet for a while in complete silence, it was a comfortable silence though. It never felt like you and Harry needed to talk all the time when you got together because it was nice just to stay together and enjoy each other's company.

— Let me take you out! — Harry suddenly said after a few seconds making your eyes widen up as you looked at him.

— Excuse me? — You asked.

— Let me take you out! We can put on some disguises and take the best London tour we can find, I bet you've never done it! — Harry said with a little smirk in the end. He was right, you never took a tour through your own city which seems crazy — You know... I really like you and if you wanna have fun this could be great! You'll be just a girl called Y/N and I'll be just a boy called Harry. — He said trying to argue with your thoughts thinking if this would actually be a good thing to do. But you didn't really have anything to lose, did you? — So, do you wanna do a bunch of fun things with me today? — Harry held out his right hand to you indicating that as soon as you shake his hand you would leave that museum and probably have the best day of your life, and so you did.

So as soon as you could, you both were out of that museum with the most ridiculous disguises, if I might say. Harry changed his fashionable clothes for some neutral grey hoodie and you changed your cute black dress to a jeans and hoodie as well. Your heart raced a bit when you both left that museum, the fear of being recognized was in you. It's not that you don't love the people of this nation, it's just... a day off could fit you pretty well.

It was hard to convince Jasper to leave you both alone though, it was his job to keep you safe and actually you don't even remember the last time you left your home without him, you just needed freedom for a while but you did convince him. He spent some minutes actually talking to Harry tons of rules about keeping both of you safe and how he couldn't risk your life and all that stuffs.

For the first time in your life, you were on those big, red and popular British bus. You and Harry entered by the back door and within minutes, you both were on the upon side of it on the last chairs. You looked through the window admiring this city and thinking about how much you would never want to live anywhere else. Harry was making a lot of dad jokes beside you though. You tried to laugh as lowly as you could but it was almost impossible, come on “What's the name of a man with a rubber toe? Roberto” it's so bad that it turns out to be funny. But anyway, the bus took both of us to King Cross where you entered a very popular fast-food place called “Five Guys” as Harry guaranteed you was the best he'd ever had and even though you'd doubted it so much, you agreed to go with him. When you were there, you ordered the biggest burger it had on the menu, which actually surprised Harry, but he surprised it too as he ordered it on the name of “Archie and Eleanor” so you could maintain your disguise.

— So.. Archie and Eleanor? — You asked smirking when you finally took the first bite of your burger. It was delicious but Harry was definitely lying, this is not the best one ever, but yep, all for the experience.

— Come on, you loved it! It's very charming, don't you think? — Harry asked as he took a sip of his coca-cola. It's crazy how these stupid disguises was working, is it really that impossible to recognize someone with a hoodie, cap and sunglasses? You didn't want to know because you were having a nice time.

— You know what, I think we need to get those Chinese cookies because I wanna read my luck! — You commented making him shook his head in reaction to your ask.

— Ok so we need to dinner Chinese food so bad! — You argued taking Harry from surprise as he didn't thought you'd stay this late with him.

— You'd have to buy actual Chinese food, you can't just buy the cookie! — He answered raising his eyebrows at you taking his last bite of his burger.

It didn't take much long for you both to be moving again. It was definitely the best day you've had in a while. You both went to Kensigton High Street and bought the most stupid UK theme hats. Harry bought a fake glasses too; it was blue and had a UK flag handed on it making you laugh every time you looked at his face.

— Come on, I still look cute! — He said putting his hands on his hips and posing like a model, on the middle of the street.

— If you say so!

Next you both went all your way up to Abbey Road which is the famous street from The Beatles photo, and you and Harry as the great fans you are had to copy them. You asked to a random person to take a photo of you two with the best American accent you could impersonate to her. The photo looked so cool and a car almost hit you two but you were fine and for some reason you both laughed and ran to the woman with your phone.

— Oh, to be drunk in love! You both are a really cute couple. — The old lady said giving your phone back to you and walked away before any of you could contest her. You both looked at each other and Harry smirked at you.

— Oh, we're such a cute couple! — Harry said blinking his eyes on a very cute way and you just rolled your eyes at him and started walking again.

— Come on, Styles! I wanna go to the Queen's Gallery — You said walking your way up to the bus stop. Harry had a big smile on his face, he didn't remember the last time he actually had that much fun. He loved England. He loved those places and he loved having this much fun with you.

In the Queen's Gallery, you and Harry tried to not make that much of a noise, it was a museum right? But it felt hard to keep it quiet because you both were taking the weirdest and funniest photos with the arts in there, for a moment you even thought you both were going to be expulsed of the location, but you didn't. None of you realized how much the time was flying and it was probably 3 pm now.

The next step was the Columbia Road Flower Market. It was probably the coolest thing of your day. You both ran around taking a lot of photos and videos. You bought one of the most delicious breads in there. You were looking at some flowers when Harry came back to you with a bunch of pink tulips on his hand, it was your favorite flowers and he knew it.

You both went to so many places actually; you went to HMS Belfast, Battersea Park, Albert Memorial, Old Spiralfields Market, Serpentine Lake, Carnaby Street and Holland Park.

When it was closer to the sunset, you went to Princess Diana Memorial Garden. It was a hard place for you. It has always been and Harry even asked if you really wanted to go there, but you did. You needed to sit down for a moment on your life and miss your mom. You were little when she died so you're probably the only one of your brothers that remember her the least.

You both lied down on the grass. It had a fresh breeze in the air, but the sun was still out, it was that golden hour moment. You rested your head on Harry's thorax looking up to the sunset orange sky above you.

— You know this can be great... If we're willing to try! — Harry said in a very low tone. He was caressing your hair with his hand analysing your face, so he could get any reaction for you.

— It would be for a while. — You said sitting up to look at his face, your faces were a few inches apart, the golden coloration on his face giving him the glow he did have naturally — But what would happen 3 years from now when someone tells you that you couldn't perform anymore? Or you couldn't release your songs? It's not right, I can't ask you this! — Harry looked away for a moment, probably trying to contain his emotions and think, just think — But we have today, we have now. Maybe we should just enjoy what we have now!

He looked back at you, directly into your eyes and again, comfortable silence. The comfortable silence Harry thought was so overrated felt right any time he was with you. He put himself closer to you if that even it's possible. His ring handed touched your cheek, eyes never distracting, you leaned in and your lips touched his. It felt magical, it felt quiet and it felt right.

The sun was out now, bringing the night and the sky full of stars. You both were by The Mall avenue, running, and dancing to the song playing backwards; it was Ophelia by the Lumineers, after that day, this song was your song and any time any of you listened to it, each other was brought up to your minds. You called it a night when you both were by the top of the London Eye, where all the big lights inspired you. When the cold breeze hit your hair and the height scared you but Harry made you feel safe.

Harry dropped you off at the castle's gate at midnight, just as he promised. You stayed by the balcony of your room until the sunrise looking at the sky because you knew that Harry was on the other side looking at the sky too thinking about how you'd never get to finish the book of you and him, and if you weren't faded to end together at least you had today.

In between “seems beautiful” and “very beautiful”, there can be one or many different views. For example, the phrase “famous after a battle” (TN: Xiao Zhan’s “Zhan” sounds like battle in Chinese), we could analyze the keywords in many ways.

Xiao Zhan, born 1991. Could you imagine how you and I would be when we were 28? Xiao Zhan is like this –

“Famous after a battle”, is the most effective “wartime story”. Using this analogy in the entertainment business, there are many who had been battling for quite a while. Xiao Zhan is like this as well…

Xiao Zhan, who is 1.83m, reduced his weight from 70kg to 58kg for his outstanding portrayal of Wei Wuxian – is this really the result of a day’s work? On 28 Feb 2019, I (a reporter) entered a dressing room in Beijing TV. The narrow and long dressing room had been split in the middle into two narrower sections. Near the corner, after the staff has dispersed, I finally set my eyes on Xiao Zhan, who sat obediently on a chair while styling his hair.

The stylist stood on the right of Xiao Zhan; to the left of Xiao Zhan was a giant suitcase. After we tried to push the suitcase aside, I managed to stand in the gap. In such a tight space, I could only put the phone in front of Xiao Zhan, on top of the opened makeup case, for voice recording. After some more effort from everyone, there was finally space for the phone.

He was covered in a white hairdresser cape, his long legs enveloped by a pair of black pants – his thick black hair was being kept in order, his handsome side profile, relaxed and natural attitude, polite words, and after some close observation, no piercings on his ears.

How did this unguarded Xiao Zhan look like?

There was no need for exquisite words, just simple and pure wonderfulness.

If it remained unimaginable, it would not be too complex to imagine the warm smiles of the good looking youths on the streets of Beijing. All of these people could have been born in Beijing or traveled to Beijing from their hometowns.

“Chongqinger” Xiao Zhan said, “Beijing, in fact, besides my hometown Chongqing, is my longest lived in city. If we use 2020 to calculate, it would have been 5 years. Beijing, is a striving city, and like any other youths, Beijing means dreams and endeavors to us – this is a city of ambition. Hence, as Beijing TV’s Spring Night spokesperson, I feel that this special meaning, I’m very happy and very excited.”

Indeed, during the release conference in the afternoon, when being asked about how he felt spending his “Year of the Rat” Spring Night with Beijing TV, and expressing that by singing, Xiao Zhan, who was nicknamed “The Little Chinese Music Archive”, thought about it seriously and suddenly sang, “I’m beautiful, beautiful, beautiful……”

Haha, this quick wit and humor was almost as cute as “The Chipmunks”.

Spring Night is a big event, and it required absolute secrecy. We secretly asked Xiao Zhan about Beijing TV Spring Night from his personal point of view. Xiao Zhan continued to be witty, “I feel it’ll be exciting, at least I’ll be performing with a… senior that I really like.” When asked who it would be, Xiao Zhan smiled, “Let’s keep it a mystery, and we welcome everyone to watch Beijing TV Spring Night!”

This “Chongqinger”, who still could not confirm if he could return to his hometown for Chinese New Year, would sometimes show his inner thoughts – “If I could go back I definitely would”, but yet his words lingered on Beijing TV Spring Night.

Xiao Zhan, he actually loves Beijing so much.

He actually likes Zhou Xun so much

Who are the actors that Xiao Zhan admires the most? If he were to pick two, it would be Zhou Xun and Tony Leung.

Xiao Zhan said, “I really like Zhou Xun, her views, her experiences, are all mesmerizing to me. She has many performances that give me the urge to rush into the screen to rescue her. Her performances are very vivacious, it feels like you’re beside her experiencing her performances with her, my attention is all on her, she just has great charisma.”

Xiao Zhan emphasized that he liked Zhou Xun all along, and as we stood and studied his side profile, his face, we suddenly remembered a classic scene from “Palace of Desire”, where the young Princess Taiping removed Xue Shao’s mask.

That year, Zhou Xun was 26, Winston Chao was 40, but it did not prevent her from portraying a young girl’s infatuation. This drama was almost 20 years old, and the female audiences at that time would exclaim that Winston Chao was “as warm and gentle as jade, a gentleman who is peerless”. If this seemed familiar, this phrase was also used by many of Xiao Zhan’s fans to describe him.

This is the lyrics from Xiao Zhan’s song “Yu Nian”, which is the ending song for “Joy of Life”. Who knew that time cycles? Who knew that memories crosses paths?

As of now, Xiao Zhan is similar in age to Zhou Xun’s age then. If we could time travel and Xiao Zhan were to act as Xue Shao, could we guess the ending?

And since we are at this point, we could add another statement – “Traffic” / “Celebrity” / “Actor” – what difference do they make in the face of time? If there are no answers, why not listen to Xiao Zhan’s “Yu Nian”.

Time will tell, it is just that we are too impatient – regardless of our need for speed, we still ought to seek the truth.

He actually admires Vincent van Gogh so much

Xiao Zhan, like many of us, went through the tough period of studying overnight for university entry examinations. He became a student of Chongqing Business and Technology University, majoring in Design. However, this did not prevent Xiao Zhan from becoming a “Top 10 Inter-school Singer”, he self mockingly called himself a “literary enthusiast”, but in fact became one of the stars in many girls’ eyes – someone who was good looking, tall, stylish and could sing and take photographs. Immediately after he graduated, he became a designer, but he would still be brought up by his ex-teachers, one of whom recommended him to participate in “X-Fire”.

When reviewing “X-Fire”, you would realize that Xiao Zhan had a round face, an obedient expression and mild temperament – in fact, you would think that he did not pose much of a threat. But as one by one, the youths started getting eliminated, as their teams were getting regrouped, as they were getting more and more difficult tasks, it seemed as though Xiao Zhan was being sculpted on the spot – his face became more chiselled, he started slimming down, his eyes started having the steady gaze of ambition… Talent search variety shows are, in fact, cruel and all the participants were getting re-sculpted and remodeled – whatever that was removed was not the meant to be in the final product.

So what did Xiao Zhan keep in his heart? These were all the passwords to his past – drawing, design and art. Like anyone who learnt design, they all had an artist that they favored, and they were all different. Xiao Zhan’s answer – Vincent van Gogh.

Xiao Zhan said, “I was asked previously – if I could have a conversation with a past personality, who would it be? I would just choose Vincent van Gogh, because I want to listen to what he had experienced then, how he lived then, such that he was able to create such a beautiful world and paintings. Such as “Starry Night” or “Self Portrait”, I feel that he was able to step away from himself, into very amazing angles, and then create them.”

Those who learned design would usually be able to draw quite well, and usually beyond the levels of self taught hobbyists. Hence, these would also become part of his self cultivation.

Xiao Zhan confirmed this, “Yes, I think starting from aesthetic views to detailed observation, I feel that there were definitely influences.”

On whether Xiao Zhan still went to art exhibitions, the question seemed like a luxury to him – his eyes widened, he straightened himself, and he started smiling widely, “There is very little time now for art exhibitions, I would see them via friends who went and posted in their social media, or those art-related media accounts.”

There could be no burden I could sway my head I could stay my steps I could surrender to you

This is the promotion song from movie “Two Tigers” sung by Xiao Zhan. There was once in a variety show that he was requested to use his facial muscles to move a cookie on the side of his face into his mouth, while singing. Before the game started, Xiao Zhan pointed at the camera and laughed, “I really do have an idol’s image burden! I really do have an idol’s image burden!” However, after the game started, you see no sign of his “burden”, just 100% into moving his facial muscles, working hard to get to the cookie.

What is an idol’s image burden? Is there art in an idol’s image burden? There are no answers, but we can look for it in Xiao Zhan’s “Two Tigers”.

Art often gave the answers to philosophy. For example, an idol’s image burden could be thrown away, hence it is definitely not art; Art follows the heartbeat, follows life, just like the Vincent van Gogh, a man whose life bloomed and withered like the summer flowers, in the hearts of people like Xiao Zhan.

This phrase “A designer who can’t sing isn’t a good actor” seemed nonsensical, but if you think about it, it seemed to suit Xiao Zhan a lot.

He actually yearns the audiences’ recognition so much

It seemed like Xiao Zhan did gain fame after a single battle, but it was not just one battle – there were more raging battles before then.

The dancing spirit, wearing bright red and green clothes, in “Monster Hunt 2” – the camera panned past him without a HD shot; The minor role of a special agent in “The Rookies” – with some onscreen time less than a minute… And there were more, such as “Star Academy”, “Oh! My Emperor”, “Battle Through the Heaven”, “Shuttle Love Millennium”… Never heard of them? Eh, well this proved a problem – how could there be so many people who became “famous after a battle”?

What next? Xiao Zhan happily shared, “If everything goes well, there would be three roles coming to meet everyone, two period, one modern.”

Alright, the modern role would be Doctor Gu of “Oath of Love”. In fact, there were already naughty fans yelling that they were going to register for Doctor Gu’s hospital. Two period roles from “Douluo Continent” and “The Wolf”. Which do Xiao Zhan like the most? Xiao Zhan was unable to answer, “I feel like I like them all. Three different roles, three different pace!”

So, for the audiences who are already familiar with the two roles from “Joy of Life” and “The Untamed”, which are the ones that are closest to Xiao Zhan himself?

Xiao Zhan shook his head, “They weren’t quite similar to me.”

With regards to his roles, his works, let us get to some quick Q&A.

Q: After experiencing the life of the role, would that some what affect yourself? A: I feel that there are some influences to my usual personality.

Q: Would it make you mature faster? A: I feel that it makes my life richer, it means that I have experienced multiple different lives.

Q: What is your long term goal as an actor? A: If we are talking about long term goal, it is definitely being able to act in a drama that I love, and then gain audiences’ recognition for that. I feel that this is my ultimate term goal.

Q: Which role do you like? How do you live with your roles? A: I feel that there isn’t the most loved, I’m just someone who enjoys the moment. For example, when I’m in the current role, I will invest myself entirely into that role, and then I will cherish him and love him. But when I have to go to my next battle, I will put him down and let him go. And then, I will invest all of my passion for the next one.

He actually likes to smile so much

Observing Xiao Zhan up close and personal – his head narrow, his face small and firm, the folded long legs were especially straight and long. Xiao Zhan, is really thin.

When asked if he was at his thinnest, Xiao Zhan smiled, “No, I was the lightest during ‘The Untamed’, it was shot with ‘Joy of Life’, that was the period. I feel like I’ve regained more than what I’ve lost.”

Wei Wuxian in “The Untamed” liked to smile, all the time, everywhere; Yan Bingyun in “Joy of Life” was cold, all the time, as cold as ice. These two roles shot at the same time, just the emotions were already poles apart – the effort in switching in between them definitely exhausted a lot of brain cells.

When asked if he remembered his longest working day ever since his debut, Xiao Zhan looked down and smiled, then exclaimed at the same time with me, “A few days!”

Whether he could mentally sustain the current pace was not the main point – whether he could physically sustain was hotly debated. HOW TO BE HAPPY

I always believe that happiness is a choice, and you can be happy at all times. The little prince said that one loves the sunset when one is so sad, and he got to watch the sunset forty-four times one day. When the pilot asked the little prince if he was sorrowful that day, the little prince didn’t respond. Most of the time, you can’t explain what you truly feel, or you prefer to keep it to yourself.

Being happy was an easy thing for me when I was still a child. As long as there are delicious foods, new toys, and your family beside you, we get to be satisfied easily. As we grow up, we tend to be more greedy. We would always start by asking from the most little things, and whenever we have achieved those self-proclaimed needed things, we seek more and more. Being fulfilled with your life is the fastest key to happiness, but it is also the hardest thing to do.

For you to be happy, you must first accept that happiness is non-existence sometimes. Things won't always work as you have expected, and that's okay. One of my favorite Korean dramas, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, taught me various life lessons from the title itself. People would suffer from different emotions or even mental illness at some point of their lives, and that is perfectly fine. Emotions are our own ways of asking for help in situations that we cannot manage, it has been part of our coping mechanism.

Have you ever felt sad without any reason? Crying unconsciously and asking yourself what happened? I believe that most of people have experienced that. I can't explain that phenomena scientifically or mentally too, but I guess I learned how to cope up with those negative emotions.

Adults these days might be lost in their paths, but we knew the things we unlike clearly. We often get irritated with those things that we hate, and that adds to our frustrations and negative emotions. Perhaps, for you to choose happiness, determine what brings you joy first. Find yourself, discover more about yourself, and achieve your goals. The process of finding oneself might be tough, but that is what exactly makes your teenage life interesting.

I have uncovered my love for fashion since I was in elementary. I do get anxious whenever I sketch those ugly fashion illustrations, but I enjoy doing it whenever I’m bored. I hated how I couldn't cut a piece of cloth properly, but I would still daydream about my fashion design dream. I am not confident of passing my dream school and pursuing my dream career, but I decided to don't put too much pressure on myself and just enjoy the ride. I learned to be gentle to myself.

I discovered Chinese rap music and fell iin love with it about four years ago from a rap-related variety show. I started discovering more about it by listening to different rappers and learning their flows, beats, and lyrics. I don't have a nice voice nor can I sing gracefully like singers, but I thought if I could actually rap in Chinese. The hip hop culture also taught me about peace and love, and how cool we should be rather than giving a f*ck on things. Whenever I’m frustrated, angry, nervous or sad, I would listen to different rap songs that would lift up my mood. Instead of saying words that might harm other people's emotions, I put my AirPods on my ears and follow the beat of the rap songs as I try to learn those techniques in rapping faster. I really enjoy how I cope up with negative emotions using rap music. I also love making new playlists on sad days, it is surprisingly therapeutic for me. I guess music really heals the heart, especially the ones from your favorite artists, mine would be songs from Jay Chou. On days that I feel unmotivated to live, I’ll just remind myself that I need to work hard, for me to earn a lot of money, travel and watch my favorite singers, bands, and rappers live.

I told my friends that the only skill that I learned last 2020 was to learn from doing a perfect eyeliner, haha! One of my biggest insecurities is my body. Whenever I look in the mirror, I would hate my growing pimples and ugly face too. Most of the time, I just don't feel good about myself. But then, slowly, I learned to embrace myself with those imperfections that everyone else has. I started learning how to do makeup, and I enjoy the process of dressing and styling myself up. I put a lot of ideas and efforts every time that I would lock myself in the room and glam up. It boosted my confidence and creativity. I also love to see different supportive creatives on Instagram who inspire me to do what I want. Finding a group of people that shares a common interest in you is one of the best experiences ever. I felt a sense of belongingness and acceptance from this society.

Being happy is about how you treat yourself. I realized that there are days wherein I can do nothing and rest only without feeling sorry. I realized that it is okay for me to become selfish at times and prioritize myself, my welfare, and my happiness. We shouldn't be afraid to choose what we love and dream for what we want as long as we're not hurting anyone else. Don’t be tough to yourself, embrace your own emotions and enjoy life. You’ve got this! Treat yourself right, we are our own little prince and princess. Watch the sunset when you're sad.

- lol I’m glad hammond is back, he is phenomenally funny. I do love me a bureaucrat character who won’t let trifling things like dignity, morality, politeness or common sense get in the way of their job

- it is a CRIME that Tharkay had to leave before he got to see Laurence all sun-bronzed and casually dressed and golden haired and relaxed, I wish to petition the universe itself on his behalf to correct this injustice

- awwwwww laurence finally studying some more chinese while temeraire helps him... no no this is just rain on my face yes I know I’m indoors it’s just me and lady allendale sitting here with our arms around each other crying about our boy reading poetry of his own freeish will

- oooh I really like how novik writes the way hammond talks -- it can be hard to write a character who constantly breaks up their own dialogue and interrupts themselves and continually couches their words without it being hard to read and annoying, but she really nails communicating that he’s a) completely graceless and with no dignity but also undeniably intelligent, b) definitely a Diplomat but not a total weasel, if only by a hair, c) hilarious

- pour one out for laurence’s civilian beard with me guys, gone too soon and dearly missed (and again tharkay didn’t even get to see it! this continues to be the greatest tragedy of these books let’s hope he grows it out again later when they’re all settled down.)

- . . . These were distinguished from the others mainly for their having had less time in their careers to demonstrate a lack of initiative or skill, so he could have some small hope of uncovering some previously hidden talent. OH MY GOD LAURENCE the straight up savagery

- DAD!LAURENCE!!! DAD!LAURENCE!!!!!!! (aaah it’s so interesting that when he gets a bit more stern you can definitely see sides of his father peeking out, but he deeply remains his mother’s son -- he’s acting from a place of affection, feeling of responsibility and concern for their futures, not the weird controlling shit lord allendale routinely pulls)

roland is such a teenager at this point oh my god. also laurence’s whole speech to demane about respecting her boundaries and agency... *chef kiss emoji* and ALSO demane is so sympathetic in this still because who HASN’T wanted to dangle some asshole over a cliff for being a creep to your friend/crush... they’re all good and perfect and I love them actually

- ...I’ve managed to put it out of my mind in the last few books but with the allegiance going down like that I keep remembering there were so many actual children onboard and now I feel ill

- really interesting what a clear view emily has of roland and laurence’s relationship tho, considering he’s basically her father figure -- like there’s clear affection, physical attraction and camaraderie there but it never feels particularly romantic & they both have other shit to do. (and laurence knows it too on some level, considering his main emotion when she refuses his proposal is relief lol. it really shows off this central conflict he has where like... he has a very clear idea of who he feels he should be and managed to convince himself he was for a long time, and what that man wants and needs (namely very little, emotionally) and is loyal to. aaaand then there’s the person he actually is, who’s been fighting his way to the surface since temeraire showed up in the very first book and sort of woke him up by giving him something he actually loves and values with all of himself and can’t compromise on. proper gentleman/navy!laurence feels like he has to do what society deems decent and marry roland to be a good person, actual!laurence seems to know that what they already have isn’t wrong or immoral in any way as long as they’re both happy with it. ugh I love him and I hope his last remaining character development includes realizing that who he really is is not only acceptable but actually a better man than that imagined perfect self ever could be and how many people love him for who he is already A N Y W A Y onwards)

- the incan dragons continue to be dope as hell

it’s super interesting how they’ve grown to value people -- and not just one special person, like british dragons, but whole groups of people -- over gold and jewels. like the tendency is there in dragons from other cultures; temeraire loves The Bling but would still easily prioritize laurence and his crew over it. presumably some of it is cultural and some of it must stem from the sheer trauma of losing so many people within a few centuries, which is basically living memory for a dragon (which makes it equal parts sympathetic/heartwarming and juuuuust on the edge of being too creepy and possessive haha).

- jeez this book is doing a good job at showing what a haunting fucking sight it must be to enter a land where like. 90% of the people are dead in plague and their cities stand abandoned

- holy shit I really enjoyed this one! It had a good balance of travelling/character moments and giving us time with the culture and characters of the Inca and their dragons, as well as driving the overall plot forward splendidly! I also feel like we got some more meat to the laurence POV (in hindsight it feels like it was mostly temeraire POV in tongues of serpents, which is fine but I do love our golden boy and his slow burn character development too)

on to blood of tyrants! I don’t know anything about this one except a) amnesia and b) some Very Important Lines I’ve already picked up along the way, I’m not sure I’m prepared (as a trope amnesia can be pretty hit or miss for me, so it’ll be interesting at least!)

Okay so today was a GREAT day! It didn't start out too amazing because my home life is still a bit tricky, but! Okay so to start off with, me and a friend are going to London Comic Con as Jafar and Jasmine, and I was getting super paranoid cos I didn't know if their costume would arrive on time, but they messaged me this morning with a screenshot saying it's due in a few days, so omg I was so happy!! So that was great 😆❤

Then I went into town to fix my phone screen (it's covered in cracks, that's why all my selfies are misty) and get a top and materials for my cosplay, because the outfit I bought is disgusting and I refuse to wear it so I just got some harem pants off Amazon and now I need a top to match.

Anyway! Well I couldn't get my phone fixed today, I'll have to go in the week which is a bit of a pain. Also I couldn't find a top 😭 But! I went to a fabric shop to buy materials to modify the harem pants I bought, and I found the most beautiful gold fabric omg 😭❤ So I'm actually really excited about that! I tried to sew it on tonight, but I didn't cut it first and that turned out to be a bad idea because I basically spent a couple hours doing it wrong and now I have to start over 😅 Oh well. BUT! I got to work on making the shoes and earrings, and I think they're looking really good?? I'll upload more pics but they're coming on nicely I think, and the gold paint I'm using is beautiful 😊 When I was in town I also found a snake armlet in a fancy dress shop... when I got home I realised it was broken so I'm going to take it back, but hopefully I can swap it for a good one 😁 I also saw a crown in the shop... It's not the style I want but it's the right shape. I didn't get it because I planned to make my own crown, but when I tried tonight it was difficult so when I go back to the shop I might just get their crown to use as a base and put newspaper over it 😆

Anyway! I also went to Forbidden Planet just to see if they had any special pops or Final Fantasy plushes. They did have plushes but only small ones and they were super expensive so I didn't get any. But omg! I wasn't expecting them to have any special pops at all but there was a meditating Piccolo wtf?? I didn't even know that existed! And there were only like two left so I was super lucky to find it! Also my kid saw a plush that he liked, Donutella from the Tokidoki series 😆 I was originally going to put it away as a Christmas present but he said he wanted it now so we agreed he could use his pocket money to buy it 😂 He was saving for a pink ukulele but I guess he can have that for Christmas instead haha. Also I found out I've been naming one of his other toys wrong... he has another one who I thought was Donutella because that's what the tag said, but this one today also said Donutella... so I looked it up and it turns out the one he already had was Donutina, so I explained that to him lol. He wants the unicorn now but idk if there's a plush for that 😬

Also I went to Primark to buy makeup... partly for the cosplay, but also just for general. Every time I go out I think I need to buy new makeup and equipment, because mine is literally YEARS old and it's no good, but I don't go out that often so I guess I just forget to buy new stuff or I don't see it as a priority. But I want to go all out for the con so I got some new stuff, and I can't wait to practice it 😆 I don't really know what I'm doing with this stuff so I deffo need to try it out first lmao. Also my kid got a rainbow sponge from Primark in exchange for today's pocket money and an extra chore. Normally he empties his bedroom bin and the bathroom bin for £1, but the sponge was £1.50 so I said he could have it if he does the bins when he gets in and does an extra bin as well. He agreed and was super super excited for his bath so he could use it 😂😂 He was skipping around so much haha. Actually he was pretty good all day, it was a long tiring day shopping but he was cool 😊

Also I tried chicken noodles from this Chinese place in Manchester Arndale that I've never had before. They were served in one of those pots you always see on American TV, I've never had one of those pots before and always wanted one. I'm so glad I finally got to try it 😆 There were no chopsticks but the noodles were really nice.

AND! When we got home, and my kid emptied out the 3rd bin... my missing PJ top was there?? It's been missing for a few weeks and I looked everywhere for it, it was kind of getting me down because it was my grey pikachu one that I really like. I guess I must have put it in the real bin instead of the clothes bin by accident 😅 I'm really glad I found it! And glad it didn't end up getting thrown out without me realising, omg 😭😭

So! Yeah today was a really great day and I feel very happy about it 😁 Got some nice things and I was productive with my cosplay. Yay!! And tomorrow I'm going to another shop to get my hair cut and hopefully find a top, if I can't find one I'll order one, I just wanted to find one live so I can make sure the colour matches. But anyway... yeah! Great day 😁 Thank you world!

hmmm... i’m lame and nothing much comes to mind. one long term goal i’ve fulfilled that i’m pretty proud of was raising my gpa and pulling myself out of academic suspension completely in one semester at my old college bc i was a dumb ass when i was younger and skipped class a lot bc of my MDD. i busted ass and it really paid off~ i’m usually extremely lazy when it comes to studying, but nope. not this time lol. a short term goal... uhhh the most recent was knocking down my drafts from 50+ to about 25. HAHA WOW I AM SO LAME.

3) Do you have any particulars about the way you dress ? If so, what are they ?

ehhh not really, i wear whatever, altho i tend to steer clear of things i consider tacky... would love to some day dress to my aesthetic but I’M TOO SELF CONSCIOUS.

4) Has your writing style / muse preference / portrayal changed since the last part of your life ( ex: if you’re in college, since you first started high school ) ?

whale, my writing style has for sure changed since high school and when i first started college. D: i look back on my old work and weep bc i used to write so wonderfully lmao idk what happened. muse preference hasn’t really changed -- i’ve always favored ocs over canon characters and female ocs over male ocs. altho there was a period in my life where i, like, roleplayed nothing but male canon characters lol.

5) Are you the type to make muse aesthetic boards and playlists ? If not, what’s the ‘fanciest’ thing you do for your muse(s) ?

HELL YES I AM. i love making aesthetics and graphics and playlists for my ocs. IDK WHY, EITHER, I JUST DO. i guess because it’s a lot of fun and also i loooove finding songs that remind me of my muses or ships. i also think it’s interesting to have a visual medium of my muse’s taste and aesthetic and stuff... i used to have a ton of playlists back on my old laptop for older ocs of mine, but they’ve since disappeared since my hard drive crashed and i was unable to salvage anything except what was on my flash drive.

6) If you’re a multi-muse blog, are there any muses that you favor that others don’t seem to gravitate to ? If you’re a single-muse blog, is there a genre of plot you love seeing your muse in but don’t get much of ?

eun-biiiii. i love writing her, but most ppl wanna interact with ji or kimi, which is cool bc i understand. they’re easier to interact with. and although noey is still new to this blog, i have a feeling people won’t really gravitate towards her, either. nbd tho bc i have ppl who do love interacting with eun-bi and noey so ; u;

chinese, hands down. i can live off of chinese food tbh.

run on sentences, writing novel length replies when i told myself i wouldn’t, hella introspection, and furiously using synonyms for certain words i’ve already used in the same paragraph lollll.

hmmm idk... rp wise i tend to say something along the lines of: ‘write for yourself and write what you like’. irl it’s usually something like ‘it’s okay to be feeling (whatever emotion the person i’m currently talking to is experiencing)’. esp with the kids i nanny, i always try to validate their emotions, even if they’re perplexing as hell lmao.

Rokuya Nagi: A great, positive song that will help you take on your love life, studies, work, and travels, and face them with excitement. Izumi Iori: Given the people assembled here, I'd like the song to bring out a sense of opulence and completeness. Within the framework of the charity, of course. Izumi Mitsuki: Woah! You're really good at drawing, Tamaki! Yotsuba Tamaki: Is it too empty? What should I add? Whatever it is, I want people to be happy when they see it. It's really hard to make people happy.... Izumi Mitsuki: That's such a grown-up thing to say. Did something happen? Yotsuba Tamaki: So like, the other day, I was strolling around on my way back from school. Yotsuba Tamaki: And this random older dude told me, "You've been such a goody two-shoes lately, Yotsuba. It's boring." Izumi Mitsuki: ....... Yotsuba Tamaki: You know how I was like before. I used to think stuff like 'shut up' or 'I'm bored' and didn't really care. Yotsuba Tamaki: But sometimes, you just wanna make the people watching you happy. You feel? Well.... That's me right now. Yotsuba Tamaki: So that's why.... Like.... Umm.... Like...... Izumi Mitsuki: Yeah. I was really, really sad. It was awful.... Hell, I wanted to disappear. I'd think stuff like, 'What the hell are you doing?' or 'What should I do?' Izumi Mitsuki: I was distressed about all sorts of things. But because I love you guys and the fans so much, I was able to stick it out. Yotsuba Tamaki: ......I really love everyone too. Izumi Mitsuki: Haha.... I know. You've become such a great guy, Tamaki. And to think you used to be such a selfish beast back then! Man.... Yotsuba Tamaki: Oh! He praised me. Izumi Mitsuki: You're the coolest! If it were possible, I'd cover your ears so you won't have to listen to all of those mean voices. July.01.2017 Hello, hello! Greetings from Seoul! It's been a wild ride getting here, but I'm finally in the motherland and very excited to be here. I woke up to my alarm at 8:30a and I was very tired, so I snoozed until 9:00a! I woke up and checked in with the family and some friends - it's weird being 13 hours ahead, but kind of nice. Almost a symmetrical cycle - I'm sleeping when people are awake, people are awake when I'm sleeping, haha. I got ready and realized that even I went to bed at like 2:30a, the beds were all empty. When I woke up, everyone was back! I felt bad making so much noise, but it wasn't that early, so I just tried to be as quick as possible. I threw on the first shirt and pair of shorts I could find, packed my bag, and then jammed out the door! My first stop of the day (and what turned out to be my only stop) was the palace! I got my traveler card, topped it up, and got on the train. Thankfully the trains are very easy to find, are easy to navigate, and are super clean! I had one transfer, but didn't have any major issues. I got to the end and was right in front of the palace! It was still pretty early, so it wasn't that hot, but it was still humid. I paid my ticket and got the local price! I walked around the palace grounds and really enjoyed the trees. It's interesting to know that the Japanese destroyed the compound twice, but it was rebuilt as a replica in the 1980s. Kind of sad to think about, since it's not the original, but it's wood so I don't think it would have lasted from 1350 anyways. The colors were so beautiful and the architecture was very unique. Kind of a mixture of so many styles: Japanese and Chinese. It was the most interesting for me to see how the ancient complex was preserved right in the heart of Seoul. It shares the Seoul skyline and seems to defy the current, modern era. The trees are so beautiful and I'm glad I went earlier as there weren't as many people. It's funny, as a lot of Koreans were there and were annoyed that there were so many foreign tourists. This is a sign of a healthy economy, as people from other economies that are heavily dependent on tourism don't go to tourist sites, and don't complain about foreigners. I felt strange because I am a foreigner as well, but kind of not! I got to the inner courtyard where there was the palace party plaza, as I call it. It's a beautiful two story structure that is where royalty had parties and spent time during the summer months, as it's on a man made lake, which keeps it cooler than the rest. I spent some time there doing a water color! It was weird because people kept calling me an artist and I kept saying it's just a hobby, but I was flattered. It was here I saw a bunch of people dressed in 한복. First I thought they worked there, but in reality they rented them for a few hours and were just there to take photos and have fun! It seemed really cool and I was jealous I wasn't doing it. I finished my watercolor and walked around some more! I found the national folk museum, which was my second stop. I didn't realize it was the inside the palace grounds. It was.. an okay museum. The history seemed to brief, but I did learn a lot about the three kingdoms, and how Koreans unified with the advent of iron tools! The most interesting part was that from before the war to after the war, in a short amount of time, capital and industry BOOMED. The quality of life took off and they never looked back. It's like they never really had time to adjust, it was almost overnight. I read a lot of articles that people in korea really struggle with identity and with being part of the globalize economy as they are still figuring out what it means. The older generation have raised us and taught us, and it's a new age, but same people. I finished the museum and mama texted me about lunch. I hadn't eaten all day and was actually realizing how hungry I was! I guess I was so excited I didn't want to eat. I left the palace and followed my map just across the street to a noodle restaurant. 깔국수 + 만두. I had to wait about 15 minutes for a seat which was a good thing. I saw a bunch of locals eating there, and it's actually Michelin rated I think... amazing! I got a seat upstairs and the 이모 was so nice. I got both the 깔국수 + 만두. Ate it all! So much food but so good. Really hit the spot after such a long day of travel, and a long time without eating something that I really was craving. I finished up and then paid downstairs and left. My plan was to go immediately to the national museum of modern and contemporary art, but on my way to the restaurant, I passed it and it looked... empty. I decided I needed to digest anyways, so I walked up and down he street admiring the cafes until I found one I liked! It's called radio m and they had a really neat radio collection and played good music, both western and Korean! I got a coffee, and at first, I just tried to order in English out of habit, but the girl behind the counter turned to her friend and said she thought I was Korean, so I switched to Korean. I think that took her aback. I paid and went upstairs to wait. My buzzer went off and I got my coffee. It was actually perfect. Cold and iced, and strong. I sat sipping and wished I had brought my book. Instead I wrote some postcards that I had picked up from the museum. They were expensive, but really cute so it's alright. I enjoyed being with other Koreans just living their daily life. It was one of the first moments I felt like a local, or not so much as a tourist. I drank my coffee and watched the people on the streets. When I finished my coffee, I decided to look up the museum. It turned out they are in between exhibits, and the art that they have there, I wasn't really interested in. I didn't want to waste my time or money walking through, so I decided to do something.. better! I decided to go and get traditional Korean robes, and go back to the palace! I'm so glad I did. It was kind of expensive, but so funny and so worth it. I got some great photos and had a really fun and good time just walking around. It was so hot, and I sweat like crazy, but that's alright! My two hours were almost up so I returned to the shop and changed out. The woman working was so nervous I sweat so much she gave me water and made me sit for five minutes, haha! I said thank you and sorry and left to go home. I didn't end up seeing the bookstore mama told me about, but I think I want to come out this way again. I headed home as I was in desperate need to shower and to pay for my stay. The train ride back was painless. Everything is so well laid out. And in english as well as Korean! During this commute I also realized I needed some cash as I was nervous I didn't take out enough (spoiler, I did). It took me a while to find an ATM that would accept my card. Korea is strange about foreign debit cards, so I now know that NH accepts but 1st bank doesn't! I got my cash and headed to the hostel. I went up and as I was paying met an Australian guy and his girlfriend. They were paying, too. I spoke with Mary, the owner, in Korean and she was so impressed with my Korean and I was so flattered! She said my parents did a good job (ㅎㅎㅎ). I got back to my room, immediately plugged in my phone, connected to the wifi (which is free... I was mistaken) and showered. I feel like a new person! The couple invited me to go with them to this night market, called the 밤 도깨비! We got ready and went out and about. The plan was to go and see the market, get something to eat, and then go to a few bars. On our way to the market, we stoped at a 7-11 and got some soju! It was a very authentic way to start the night, as we drank right outside the store, and then got on our train. We got off on the wrong stop by mistake, and ended up walking about half a mile to the market, but it was so nice out, I didn't mind. It actually drizzled a little bit. By the time we got to the market, they had closed, as it had rained a little harder while we were on the train and it was too wet to have the market. Kind of defeated. We took the train back after walking around the 한강. The skyline is so beautiful and the river is so pretty! Really loved it. We got off one stop early (this time on purpose) and walked down the streets, just following the crowds, the noise, and the smell of food. We ended up eating at this KBBQ place (불고기), and it was super tasty. I was confused because the stove had some kind of soup in the pan! For vegetables I guess. It was a good dinner! After dinner we kept walking around and decided to drink more soju and beer at this convenience store that had a big seating area for people to drink at. Chairs, tables, umbrellas were all set up. We got some drinks and ended up sitting with these two locals, as the tables were all full. They were really cool and were great at English, as they studied in the United States for a while. They were both trying to get a job, but couldn't get s visa so had to come back home. By this time it was almost 1am, and I was exhausted! We were close to the guest house, so I said my goodbyes and walked home. The others went to a club and I am just too old for that now, haha. I brushed my teeth, changed and fell right asleep.
