"Doctor Octavius."

Ah. His boss, Norman Osborn.. What was he doing here? He hardly ever came down into the labs himself.. He sounded eerily calm compared to his usual bitter tone. That was.. not a good sign, to say the least. This put Otto on edge in an instant. Especially so as he was still wearing the arms, he began to panic, trying to find a place to hide to remove them, but there was no place in sight to run as Norman came into view. Otto jumped as soon as he saw his boss behind him.

"Oh no.. M-Mr.Osborn..? H-Hello, ah.. What, uhm, Wh-What brings you here? I-I thought.."

"As smart as you are, you hardly do think at all," Norman spoke, tired, stern eyes drop from the scientist's face to his twiddling hands, "A smart mind, you have, Otto. Although clever you are not if you think me stupid to not notice."

"..N-Not notice what?"

"Don't play dumb with me, doctor." the man turned his attention back to Otto, stepping closer and causing the other to shuffle back, “You must know why I’m here, surely.” He watched him, eying the way he trembled, eyes darting around behind thick, square frames as his mind raced to register what the man was referring. It was clear what it was even before he said it aloud, reaching a hand down and around to grip and raise one of the objects in question.

“Those funny little arms, Otto.”

Otto was sweating now, heart racing, although not nearly as fast as his mind. Didn't plan for this. He didn't think Norman would ever come down like this.. and find the actuators he did so well to hide every time he was done working. He was caught off guard, trapped in a checkmate.

“Th... S-Sir-- I--” Otto sputtered, bringing his hands up defensively as he backed up, heart racing as he rounded the table, all the while his boss had followed with that unchanging tense expression, the actuator limb in his hand. Otto's eyes darting from Norman to the actuator and back a few times, a clear desperate panic in his voice and face, “O-Oh dear.. L-Listen I-- I-I couldn’t have done all this work without them! You-- Y-You must understand! Th-There was too much for one person-- I-I needed those to--!”

“You need them?” Otto was cut off, bumping into a sizeable computing device. Parts that hung from it rattled in response, one falling off as Norman continued, Otto being forced to press into the console of the machine, “Need? Really? I beg to differ, Doctor.” stepping closer now, "I don't believe you ever needed them--”

Norman swiped another actuator, on the opposite side this time, yanking as hard as he could on them to get Otto up off the machine. He caught the scientist with his foot slamming harsh into the harness around his gut. Otto groaned and Norman leered down above him, hissing out his final words before releasing the arms and kicking Otto back into the machine with all the force he could muster.

“--and I don’t believe you’ll ever need them again."

Can I ask how you learned to draw in the lmk artstyle? It's very impressive to see how accurate yet unique ur lmk art is compared to the show!

At first I simply did just trace out the shapes of screenshots to get an understanding of the proportions of the lmk style. as well as just stare and study for as long as I can to dumb down the style for myself-

Alot of my old LMK, Mainly OC art were just redraws from screenshots that I heavily edited and changed, like outfits were drawn all on my own and hairstyles ect. It was mainly just the body breakdown I used. like these-

I also have a little more knowledge on the style in general as a few buddies of mine, who can draw in the style Much more accurately then I can, Gave some tips and tricks! Like keeping in mind that drawing in the LMK style, the characters ARE lego characters and are meant to represent being made of molded plastic, and you don't want to draw somthing that feels like that plastic is snapping or breaking! as well as some style anatomy things! Before I used to freehand the eyes- Now I just use the circle tool and fill in. for coloring and rendering I just freehand it, but sometimes depending on things like shading (not always) I look at how LMK Shades things. I just do my usual method of flatcolor, shade sporadically but let it make sense, Throw some texture on there. Color the lineart, Blur the lineart a smidge and bam... Art. I'm still learning and studying. sometimes i cheat by drawing the pants baggy or the sleeves baggy so i don't have to keep up with drawing the "LMK Geometry" theres only so many cubes i want to draw hahah. In terms of my own "unique ness" I never stress over how "SHOW ACCURATE" I want my LMK style to emmulate, I just do enough to the poitn of "yeah thats the LMK style" and add my own flare like again texture or design in general.

Because apparently I can't let anything go... So a few days ago I made a post about Buddy Daddies' first anniversary coming up and I wasn't going to make something "official" but the brainrot is too strong so here we are... This Sunday, January 7th, it's exactly one year since the first episode of Buddy Daddies was released! And I think that calls for a celebration! I put everything under a cut because this got really long

I came up with a few things that the fandom could do to celebrate this adorable family! Of course these are not exclusive things! If you want to contribute anything that's not listed below, go for it! 1. A weekly rewatch of the episode that aired a year ago Starting Sunday January 7th, we rewatch the episode that aired on that date last year. Nothing is stopping you from binging the rest of the episodes that day, of course! It would just be fun that a lot of us watch the same episode on the same day (or through a watch party if anyone knows how to do that)! 2. Create!! This is literally what it says: create! Just anything related to the episode of that week! There are so many options, but I'm just giving a few things I could come up with - Fanfics surrounding that week's episode. Dive into a scene you wished had more details. Write a scene you feel should've happened in the episode but didn't. Write a scene for a headcanon that you have. Really anything you want (it would be fun if it had something to do with that week's episode, but no one's going to punish you if it isn't). - Make a gifset for that week's episode. Make a set about your favourite character from that episode, your favourite moment, favourite quotes, favourite outfits,... Anything goes really! - Make fanart! There are so many talented artists in this fandom who make amazing pieces of art! It would be fun to see you make something that links back to that week's episode. I'm thinking about redrawing your favourite screenshot in your style. Draw your favourite moment. Draw a scene that you wish happened in the episode. Redraw your favourite piece of Lily art in your style! (I know this last one is less linked to the episodes but who cares). You brilliant people can probably come up with other things still! - Write a theory/headcanon/character analysis/... I have seen so many people write insightful posts about things that weren't explicitly shown on screen. There are characters we get very little background info over. Characters that we know a few things about but it feels like there can be so much more written about them! Write about your headcanons, both for past and future versions of the characters. Write your theories about certain things. It feels like there's still so much to say about this anime and a lot of people out there who know how to put those things into words! - Make an edit! This can be a video edit, a literal photoshop edit. Make wallpapers, phone backgrounds, profile pictures, memes,... Anything you want really! 3. HAVE FUN!! I know it sounds like it, but there really aren't any rules to this! Just have fun! It would just be fun that whatever you decide to post is in some way linked to the episode, but that's not set in stone, obviously! Just enjoy! I think it would be fun to dedicate a week to each episode (so a 12/13 week event if we count the recap episode), starting on the day that episode first aired last year and ending the day before the new episode aired (ex. for episode 1: starting on Sunday, January 7th and ending on Saturday, January 13th). You can decide if you just want to post something about your rewatching the episode or if you want to create something. If you want to make something, you can do multiple things if you want. And again: no one is going to punish you if you posted something from episode 1 during episode 2's week! We're all busy and don't always manage to get something done in time, so don't stress about not being able to finish something "on time". Lastly, I think it would be fun to make this into a hashtag as well! I thought of using the tag #Buddy Daddies Anniversary (very on the nose, I know, so if someone knows something more fun, please share it with the group). And like I said before: HAVE FUN!!

Anyway, I randomly wanted to redesign the main cast of Ouran in my style/ with headcanons and my own embellishments

Here's a screenshot redraw, I'll put all the redesigns below the break bc I did all the main characters & wanna talk about the choices I made. Also I made up that uniform redesign on the spot bc I when I was doing the characters I just put them in casual clothes lmao

(I might do some others later, like Renge, Kasanoda, Yasuchika, Benibara, etc.)

Going in order of my least favorite to top favorite. And dont mind that I didn't color the clothes, that's not whats important here lmao

Mori is only at the bottom because I don't like the drawing that much, I still think the design is pretty good. Though, like right when I finished coloring, I decided a bun/top-knot would look better so it's a bit disappointing there. In my head, Mori is kind of struggling to figure out who he is & what he wants to do, which is why he follows Honey around and doesn't talk much. He does genuinely like being around the other hosts though.

Also, the undercut because A) he has the reputation for being the scary one & it kinda suits that, B) uh do I even have to say it? ...its hot He does lowkey look like Sokka from Avatar tho, especially with the blue accents

Honey is next because again I think the drawing itself is a little off and the design is pretty close to Basil from Omori, which i didn't notice until it was too late lmao. One of the main things I didn't like about his character in the show was obviously how childlike he was & how girls still flirted with him even though he looked and acted 6; So now he still acts a bit childish but doesn't play it up as much & definitely has a more normal voice, not a fckn child's.

Haruhi! I definitely had to keep her glasses cuz they were really cute and kinda sold the whole 'commoner' thing in a way. But other than that I mainly wanted to balance out her femininity and masculinity to make her more androgynous/nonbinary/gender-fluid since she definitely has some of that going on in the show as is. I also gave her dark circles under her eyes to kinda show that she worked really hard to get into Ouran with low status.

Next up is Tamaki of course, getting into the characters I'm most happy with the designs of. One small thing I tried to do for each of them was give them varying hair tones; so even though Honey and Tamaki are both blond, I went very platinum-blond with him. When I started drawing him, my only real thought was "he has to be a pretty boy" so I dont have much to say about my choices, but i do think I succeeded. Don't mind the modern mullet thing, I can't stop it

Kyouya is definitely one of my favorite characters as is, seeing as he has one of the more fleshed out & heart-wrenching backstories in the show. I think the only thing I really wanted to change was getting rid of the Anime Bangs, so I just gave him this kinda sleek, kinda messy pushed-back look with a blue tint. Even though it's simple, I really struggled to come up with anything, until I found a page from the author saying smth like "I don't like the idea of him wearing neat clothes" with a picture of him in like a track suit so I did kinda the same outfit

My absolute #1 favorites, Hikaru & Kauru. They're honestly the ones that started it all because Kauru has been my favorite since I first saw the halloween episode (iykyk).

I don't know why, but I wanted their hair to be fluffier/curly and more of a natural(?) ginger color. I knew I wanted Kauru's to be redder and Hikaru's a bit lighter/blonder, but only subtly. I also gave Kauru a scar on his cheek from that time in Karuizawa, but most notably, I gave them blue and pink eyes as their signature colors. Lastly, their expressions are slightly different, because no matter how much they are in sync and try to match each other perfectly, Kauru's a much gentler soul than Hikaru, so I made Hikaru's smile a bit more snarky while Kauru's is soft.

So the first piece of art of yours that I saw was the comic where two of Bruce’s kids came out has trans to him and Branch tells him he’s a good dad and Bruce said he wishes their parents were supportive of him.

After that I came upon the one where JD decides to pierce his ear. And ends up with a date with a trucker.

And after that it was your first Floyd/Creek comics where Creek thinks he’s tricking Floyd but Floyd his aware and using him to get expensive stuff!!! It was between those three that I started following you.

While your style has changed since those little comics, I’ve always found your art amazing!!! And funny!!!

I keep coming back for more art and comics. I don’t read most of the asks you get so what ever happens on chapter 14 will probably be a complete surprise for me.

I do have a few questions from those first comics, have you ever considered drawing Bruce before he came out has trans? Maybe a little comic flashback of him coming out to his family? Also why was Branch so surprised? Didn’t he know Bruce was trans? And or was he… wait is Branch a he or a she? I forgot to ask before I didn’t understand in the story, if Branch came out has a boy or a girl. What I was going to say was Branch surprised that he wasn’t the only trans in the family?

As for the JD comic, have you ever considered drawing that date JD had with the trucker troll?

Also I think I once saw a Spotify playlist for Fleek with a cover of Floyd eating sushi from Creek’s back? Did I imagine that? Cause I can’t find that art on either of your twitter accounts.

first of all tysm! thats very kind of you 😊 ill go through em point by point:

1- the comic where branch finds out bruce is trans wasnt related to the tdau at all, it was based on actual canon, so that version of branch wasnt intended to be a trans he/him butch he was just a cis dude. branch didnt know bruce was trans bc he wasnt even a year old at the point of the breakup and bruce had been living solely as a man for years, maybe as young as 13? (he wouldve just decided "can you call me a he? and grandma can you start buying me boy clothes at pop troll walmart?" i dont think he wouldve had the resources available to know what transgender even meant at that point) and never ended up telling branch before the breakup bc... well hes like 6 months old. and he doesnt need to know anything about "spruce"s body. and over the years bruce just kinda forgot that branch didnt know, which is why he mentioned it so casually

2- i did actually draw the troll jd had a date with! his name is clyde (although i think calling him clyde S.D. ale would be cute. like clydesdale, and also ale like the alcohol). this art is old atp so maybe ill give him a fresher coat of paint, just like im planning for jds manic pixie dream rock troll girlfriends who hate him

3- i. yes. yes i did draw floyd eating sushi off creeks back and ass before 😭 based off a very good screenshot from captain laserhawk with rayman eating sushi off a cow woman. i drew it twice in fact, with the second being a redraw. here are both of them

i considered redrawing it a third time bc i massively overhauled how i drew trolls but i think if i keep doing it itll stop being funny

4- creeks (NON CANON) tramp stamp, i think would be ocean themed with seashells and waves. maybe ill design creeks tramp stamp today, but again its NOT CANON its not actually a thing in the tdau. unless alex wants it to be

( by the way, when I ask about “characters” I mean not only misha and andrey, but also europe and maya, because they are also worthy of attention <зз) 

2. what about the abbreviation "dyusha" for andrey? in russian it is... not used very often, but still, it sounds very cute. so it would be interesting to know how you would feel about this? 3. I also want to hear about the names of the characters!! how did you choose them? I mean........ how did it happen that from ☺europa☺ you switched to 👹MiKhAiL👹?? 4. and lastly, let's return to my wife for another moment. she suggested that andrey was now also in a time loop. what do you say about that? and also in enigma, she noticed that misha seemed to be addressing the second person in the lines: "and if you wanted to be anything more than just free" and "you’ve seen a hundred lies I see that all the time". is this second person a viewer? or maybe one of the previously mentioned characters??

the last photo, by the way, is one of the sketches that I found so far in my gallery! ^^ 

initially it was planned to attach two sketches, but andrey turned out TOO bad, I’m ashamed to show him. someday I'll redraw it into something normal.... maybe. but! im just fine with lotes of questions :) answering asks and responding to comments is one of my favorite things ever and i brings a verry big smile to my face

on andrei: i consider him to be a skinny little gut but not exactly unathletic, and in addition i think he would have basic combat training and probably be good with firearms. misha is probably a very average bodytype, nothing special, not particularly athletic.

i do not speak russian (though ferry has recently encouraged me to learn so maybe in like four years ill be able to form a sentence) so i dont know anything about the short forms so you can do whatever you want. if you coin it and peoples tart calling him that i will not stop it from happening

i do not name my characters, i usually let me friends name them (i think that the only one i named was europa and his partner). going forward maybe ill try to make it more cohesive

the time loop idea im seeing thrown around alot is really cool and while i havent particularly wrote any of my songs about that in general i see it fitting into the loose narrative i have going on. also in enigma misha is definitely talking to andrei whenever he says the word "you" but it could also be to the listener because the entire theme of enigma is 4th wall breaking and meta shenanigans like that

Hello! I was wondering if u wouldn’t mind sharing a tutorial on how u making ur icons?

Hi sure thing! This is long and screenshot heavy so the tutorial is below the cut :)

First I find a shot of the character I want for the icon and take a screenshot of it. Typically I look for shots where the character isn't obstructed by anything/anyone and make sure nothing is cut off in the cap

Then I put the screencap into this website and it removes the background for me. This works pretty well for most images :)

Then I open the image with the removed background into photoshop and crop it into a square.

after cropping I resize the square to 200 x 200 pixels

after resizing I run my sharpening on the image so it becomes clearer.

After sharpening, I colour the image with curves and vibrance (as per my basic gif tutorial)

I then select all the layers and Convert to a Smart Object - this step isn't necessary but I just find it is easier for me.

After that I create a new layer underneath for the background and I use the gradient tool to add the background in.

^ that is the gradient tool - if you can't find it right click on the paint bucket and you should be able to switch to it.

The settings for the gradient look like this. To change the colour click on the coloured gradient bar.

After clicking the gradient you will get a dialog box like this:

basically just click on the little colour tabs on the gradient bar to change your colour. Typically with my icons I like to go from the colour to black or white.

For this icon I am doing pink :)

After you have picked your colour click the ok button

To draw you gradient click and drag a line on your canvas

This gives you comething like this:

I prefer the dark spot to be on the bottom of the icon so I'm going to redraw over it in the opposite direction

this gives us something that looks like this:

did it a couple of times to end up with this:

I like the colour background of my icon to match the clothes (I just think it's cute). So I'm going to use a bit of selective colour to make Gina's dress more pink.

So I create a selective colour layer (the one I've hovered over with the two triangles).

After making the layer I right click on it and select "Create Clipping Mask" so that the layer only changes the colours on Gina and not the background. Yow will know this has worked because there will be a little arrow pointing down.

Given Gina's dress is red I will be changing the reds in this image. When changing reds and yellow you have to be careful because they are the undertones of skin tones (why I chose this one as an example). As you can see below Gina's skin has changed with the dress and we obviously don't want that.

To fix this we use a layer mask so only the dress changes colour. The layer mask is the white square that shows up next to the layer name Selective Colour. We basically just grab a black paint brush and draw over the parts we don't want changed on the selective colour layer.

Then basically the icon is ready to be saved as a png for use!

If you want to make different colour versions of the same icon what I like to do is add another selective colour layer on top (no clipping mask this time) and change the colours again :)

So for example to turn this icon purple I adjusted the Magentas in the image like so:

To turn it more of a blue-purple I added another Selective Colour on top and adjusted the Magentas again like so:

and basically I just play around until I get the colours I like :)

You can also add textures on top of the background if you like - typically I will just google something like "grunge icon texture" or "cute icon doodles" or whatever I might want to put on top and find one I like and use it.

So I copy and paste it and put it on top of our gradient layer and adjust the blending mode of the layer as I see fit. This is the texture on top without the blend mode adjusted.

Here I've changed it to Exclusion, which I like - but usually I just play around with the blend modes until I find one that looks good

Here's a heart one I found and put on. For this one I used the magic wand tool to remove the white bits of the background and then set it to Exclusion.

And that's my basic process - I hope it makes sense :)

art summary 2022 vs art summary 2023

individual 2023 artworks below (plus some thoughts on them because why not. Said thoughts will include me critiquing some of the pieces, especially the ones from earlier in the year.)

JANUARY - Art piece i did right before For the Future aired of Luz and the rest of the hexsquad having a much-needed group hug. I didn't really look at any references for this one (apart from for the character's designs) so the poses look really awkward and stiff tbh 😭. That being said, I'm still glad I gave it a shot, and it looks a lot better than the one I did before Thanks to Them's release, since I was more used to drawing the characters.

I'm not going to go too much into some of the... questionable... anatomy choices I made, since they aren't exclusive to this artwork in particular, nor is this the worst example of them (*cough cough* my old King's Tide screenshot redraw).

Overall I think this is an okay art piece. Definitely could have been improved by actually using references for the pose though.

FEBRUARY - This one is actually another redraw of a REALLY old piece I drew in 2021. With my finger. Not a good combination to say the least. This one is miles better especially in terms of anatomy, facial expressions and composition.

That's not to say that it's without it's flaws. I do think that lining up Betty and Amber's poses better would have improved the overall look of the piece. Another thing that I did end up changing a little while after I drew this was removing the shine from the black parts of the mirror to make it look like it was actually cracked, which I didn't do in the original version (that one's on my scratch account if you want to see it). It's a subtle difference, but I think it makes the piece look a lot better.

Again, I think this is an okay piece overall. Looks like the mona lisa compared to the 2021 version, but honestly I think anything would.

MARCH - Yet another Owl House artwork (bet u guys cant guess what my favourite tv show is). This one I created for a zine which I was working on for my multimedia class (this artwork in particular was supposed to be an advertisement for the finale). You can kinda tell I still wasn't that confident in drawing King, since his pose is pretty stiff (I don't think I ever really got used to drawing him tbh).

I do think this piece would have benefited from some more shading and lighting that wasn't the singular multiply layer I placed over the characters then erased some parts of. (There is some other shading but there's no other lighting).

Most of the other issues I have with this pieces are just issues I have with my old art in general so I'll leave it there.

APRIL - This is the last Owl House artwork I promise. I made this one for Zeez Vov Gee 2's watching and dreaming art contest. I actually do still quite like this one, which might partly be to do with the fact that I really like all of the character's timeskip designs, but whatever.

Some of the proportions on the hands are a bit weird, and I REALLY wish I put the shading on the lineart as well, considering how light of a colour it is.

One thing I do really like which I didn't notice while I was drawing it, is the pose Luz and Amity are in forms a sort of heart shape, which is really adorable akdjfhskhdf ;w;

Anyway, overall a pretty good piece, might remake it later. Who knows 👀

MAY - as you may immediately be able to tell, I did not make that much art in May (I might've had a few tests on at the time. Or I was just lazy). This one is actually OC art for once (wow shocking never seen before).

It's kinda just a doodle/a more doodley art piece, but it's pretty alright. I actually really like the pose that Robyn (the OC in the drawing) is in. This is also kinda the first time I drew their design, so yeah. The background isn't great, but I can't really expect that much from a doodle -v-

overall, pretty decent doodle. (for anyone wondering if I'll ever post more about Robyn... maybe? I'm mainly using their story for writing practice, but I think I posted something from it on here)

JUNE - June was literally the polar opposite of May. I'm not kidding, there were like 3 artworks that I was debating putting for June (this one, some deltarune fanart and a TOH screenshot redraw). I eventually went with this one because HOLY CRAP am I proud of that background.

This one was really heavily influenced by cartoon backgrounds (in particular ones from Gravity Falls and Hilda), and while I do think there are a few things that could be improved (like some of the trees), this was the first time in a while that i'd tried drawing a background that wasn't grass and a couple of trees (and i think the first time ever that i'd done something this complex).

I think another reason that this one turned out so good is that it was a birthday card for a friend. And if there is anything that I am constantly trying to do better at every time I redraw it, it's birthday cards (probably bc they're for my friends, love you guys sm /p).

anyways, overall a really good piece, 11/10 background.

JULY - behold... the first artwork I posted on Tumblr! I drew this shortly after seeing Across the Spiderverse in cinemas (which I have to say was one of the greatest experiences of my life).

I wanted to mess around with lineless art a bit on this one, as well as sort of try to give it a watercolour feel like earth-65. And I gotta say, I think it turned out pretty good. Though I did spend a good 15 minutes looking for references because ATSV wasn't out digitally yet ;w;

overall, I like this piece, I tried something new and I made fanart for the greatest movie of all time (in my opinion)

AUGUST - I don't think I drew nearly enough Omori fanart when I was super into the game, so I'm making up for it now. I wanted to redraw one of my favourite photos from the photo album for this one.

I probably could have put a bit more detail into the background for this one, but I really like the warm lighting, and the dappled light effect that I used for the characters. The lineart is also a bit sketchy, but I was (and sort of still am) in the process of figuring out how I actually want my lineart to look.

overall, I really like this one, nice colours, nice lighting, has the omori characters being happy in it :]

SEPTEMBER - like in May, I didn't get as much Art Stuff TM done, so it's just a doodle of some of my OCS (except this time it's Copper, Lapis and Peg, who I have posted about before).

I kinda just wanted to draw something cozy, so I didn't put too much effort into the background and stuff. One thing I will say, is that I wish I drew them looking a bit older, since they are all 16-17 lol.

overall, this one's ok. Could be better, but it's just a doodle.

OCTOBER - ohohohohoho we are SO back. Yet another birthday card. I love the perspective and poses on this one (because, you guessed it, I used references for them). Everything about this artwork was really fun to draw (especially the characters).

Overall, really good artwork, 11/10

NOVEMBER - redraw of an artwork from 2021 part 2: electric boogaloo. I remember being so proud of the original artwork, so I wanted to make this one an artwork I was proud of too (which was a success).

One of the main things I wanted to do for this one was to actually draw a background, instead of getting one off google. The one I drew was simple, but I think it really works, because I wanted the focus to be on the character, not the background. I also added some slight perspective to the drawing to make it look a bit more interesting.

Overall, amazing, especially compared to the original

DECEMBER - and finally... December's artwork! Aka my banner. I wanted to do something kinda simple for this, because I'm probably going to redraw it or make a new one later. I really like the contrast between the colours in the foreground (which is supposed to be inside a train, but it's kinda hard to tell), and the background.

Also something I've started doing for a few artworks is making a duplicate of the artwork, blurring it slightly and lowering the opacity, which makes it look a lot more visually interesting :0

overall, love this one, good artwork to end the year off with :] (i'll prolly still draw more stuff tho)

(fun fact - I was going to put the redraw I did of the 'get in loser we're going shopping' scene with the characters from TMC for December because it's the highest quality meme i've ever made but it looked weird next to the other ones bc it was in black and white 😭)

Excerpt from quit telling everyone i'm (permanently) dead! (wip)

The black zirconium statue was larger than life. It towered above them on two separate, stepped obsidian pedestals, each about five-feet high. As Mateo moved closer, he could see something glittering in the bases. Danny mumbled something about ectoplasmic ice mixed into it, stronger than diamonds, but Mateo thought they looked like stars. He figured that was the intention. It was gorgeous.

He tilted his head back to take in the actual sculpture. That Danny was twice as large as the one standing next to Mateo. He felt his heart lurch a little at how serious Danny looked, the tight furrow over his brow, the determined set to his jaw. It all made him look so much older than even now, even though Mateo knew he was only sixteen when the statue was made.

The statue’s zirconium white accents were blinding in the late afternoon sunlight, and Mateo found himself shading his eyes as he looked up even higher. The hair on the statue was shorter than Mateo had seen Danny wear his, probably closer to the length it had been when he was in high school. It was swept back heroically, as if moved by an unseen wind, and the sun glinted off its sharp edges. It made the whole statue look as if it were glowing.

Crystalized ectoplasm made Phantom’s eerie green eyes, and they glowed too, though Mateo figured they probably glowed under their own power rather than a trick of the light. The statue’s eyes were trained on the thin, steel-wire Earth he cupped protectively close to his chest; it was a promise as well as a remembrance. The world remembered what Phantom did for them, and he promised them he would do it all over again if necessary.

i’ve been collecting resources for someone i know who used to only do traditional art years ago, and is recently making the switch to digital, so i’ll link my all time favorite spreadsheet which covers a lot art-wise!! and then i’ll give some of my own advice at the bottom :)

( it’s sorted by the type medium whether it be illustration / animation / storyboarding. they also have a whole section for foundational drawing and links out to websites for poses. it’s also updated every so often! :) it also lists resources and information about programs !! prices are included too! )

now, i’m not too sure how to give advice about art, but i definitely want to try and offer some help! :)

i have been drawing digitally for maybe ~8 years. the switch was really hard, but don’t let it discourage you!! i went on youtube and watched a bunch of speed paints and timelapses of my favorite artists at the time to try and understand how they did certain things. and to be honest, my art was not great! and i’m still improving; things i look at from even 3 months ago i will put my head in my hands at.

anyone would probably tell you to just practice when you say “i want to learn how to draw digitally” but they don’t often tell you what to practice either. i don’t really like that advice (even though it’s mostly true— it just doesn’t feel very beginner-friendly!!). so here are a few things that i wish i was told instead of “just practice to get good”

1. i really recommend finding an artist you like and looking at how they do certain things. try to figure out what you like about it; is it the texture, the colors, the lines, the compositions, etc. maybe think about incorporating the way someone uses bright colors (for example) in your own art (if you like the way the artist uses bright colors).

2. reference photos!! they are key. especially having multiple references, maybe one for lighting, a pose, background, etc. the more the better! — i recommend maybe maybe a folder on your device for references ^^

3. keep your old drawings! — some people tend to get discouraged (me) when they think they’re not improving. best thing i ever did was keep my sketchbooks and try to keep as much of my earliest digital art as possible.

4. this one is going to sound a little funny, but draw your favorite character! - having a character to constantly draw helped me a ton. especially an original character;

5. if you are feeling uninspired, find a screenshot of some media you enjoy and try to redraw it or do a study of it :). i did this often when i didn’t know what to draw but wanted to draw!

6. experimenting with brushes!! — if you are also stuck, maybe try to download or even create some new brushes. …. i have too many brushes

i really wish i could offer all the advice to help you succeed!! i’d love to see your progress as well!! the main thing i can say is that not everything you create will be a masterpiece, but not every work of art is a mistake either. don’t regret spending time drawing if you love it, even if you aren’t in love with what you create. if you can recognize that something may be off, whether it be proportion-wise, color-wise, ANYTHING, you’re still seeing a way for improving your work. which means you are still improving!

A vent sort of thing about my artistic ability below cut, kinda long so I understand if you wanna skip out on this <3

I wish I could find joy in art like I used to. I feel like I make excuses all the time for making redraws of fma all the time but in truth, it's easier for me. I feel like I'm bad at everything. I don't like my flat colors, my weird lineart, my anatomy. I like doing redraws cuz it gives me the pose and expression, I just edit it a little so I don't have to show you guys my janky anatomy or how badly I struggle with creativity in general. I don't know how to come up with my own ideas like everyone else and elaborate situation art is overwhelming for me so I've never really even tried. I always wonder how people can draw characters interacting, like an arm on the shoulder or hugging or kissing or whatever (can't even come up with ideas like this). All I'm comfortable doing on my own is character design type stuff, the stuff I usually do without wanting to scream is someone shoulders up in a stiff pose. So it feels good when I make a redraw I like and others give me lots of notes. But I could never make stuff of that quality without the help of a screenshot. I can't even get myself to do studies because they make me incredibly frustrated and I tend to just give up. I don't know how to create without directly copying and it's destroying my motivation to create art. I miss back in middle school when making art was easy and joyful and I felt like I could do anything, but then again I was doing the same things I do now just worse. I don’t know how to move forward and I don’t know if I ever can, if I can ever reach the level of other artists on this platform who can spit an idea onto a page. My only original pieces I created here were my first Oct. 3rd piece which kickstarted me posting art on here and a simple bust portrait I did of Ed a bit ago. There are some things I like about my art like I like the way I draw hair and faces (sometimes) but it feels like everything, coloring, lineart, poses, situations, even expressions are impossible for me. I feel so subpar compared to everyone else and I've been making art for 8 years now. I thought I would have things figured out by now but I still feel like a beginner. But I also feel like being an artist is such a big part of me so it tears me apart to feel like I can't even do that properly. I just have felt lost when it comes to my art for years now and I don’t know what to do. I understand if this diminishes your idea of my artistic ability, it feels like everytime I post a redraw I'm just faking being a good artist because I don't really do much of it on my own, just the hair and face really. Also sorry for ranting and being so personal but I've been struggling with this for so long and it feels like no matter what I do I can never move forward.

Client Feedback

After returning our collection of Frank the Koala's we received feedback on what they wanted to see changed, and we gave them feedback on how to improve Marble the Giraffe.

Here was what we were instructed to change about our koalas:

Looking back over these instructions retrospectively, I definitely missed the point at what they were meaning about making the lines look "fluffier" but I will cover that more later in this post.

Other than the lines, the main thing I needed to change about my koala was making the hat feel less friendly. I also wanted to make Frank appear like he was running vs the current walk pose I have him in. Because I had created him in Illustrator, this was super easy to adjust as all of my layers were still free moving.

Changing the hats facial expression was my first mission, and my first step was darkening all the features so they stand out more against the colour of the hat.

I re-angled the eyebrows and made them a little bolder at the front, I then drew a new mouth following the same steps taken to draw the original using the different line profiles to give a tapered look.

I then moved on to making my character look like he's running. I didn't take many screenshots, but there wasn't much to capture. I started by rotating his torso and front leg forward so it looked like he was putting more of his weight on it, and then angled his back leg so it looked like he had kicked off it.

I then rotated his head forward a little bit more which in turn made it look like he was holding onto his hat, which I think really helped the illusion of him running.

The only part of my characters body I had to redraw for this step was front arm, it needed to be significantly more bent for this stage of the walk/run cycle. To do this I followed the exact same process I had taken and documented in the initial character creation post.

This is where I got confused on what was being asked of me, and in future I will be asking more follow up questions to make sure both myself and the client are on the same page.

When asked to use Shayla's lines as reference, I interpreted that as the more pencil drawn look of the lines she had used. Whereas now I think they probably meant add extra lines to emulate fur.

To create the fuzzy lined look I loaded my image into Photoshop, selected my outlines, and then made a duplicate of my outlines. Out of each pair of outlines, one was going to be my base solid colour and the other was going to be my darker fuzz layer. To create the "fuzz" I set the blending mode to Dissolve so that I'd only have patches of the darker colour scattered on the outline.

This left me with a koala I was really happy with at the time, but again, looking back I definitely think I misinterpreted what they were meaning so in future I will make sure to get clarification first.

This whole experience was one of the first group projects I've done, and was easily the most enjoyable and successful. As a team we worked really well together at communicating what we wanted Frank to look like early on, and having this clear vision in mind made the process super seamless.

"Mary's 2021 Summary of Art" - Published: Dec 31, 2021

(Warning: This is going to be a wall of text.)

January in January i was asked by a friend "Hey, i wanna learn how to make Live2D models. Wanna join?" At first i thought i couldn't do it, but in the end decided "Why not?". That's the mindset i wanted to carry through the year. Pictured is the result. I've been asked to try and complete said model, so next January will be fun! This month i also took part in a FFXIV tag on twitter, where we made fake screenshots for a dating sim. That's where i decided i wanted to try and work on a visual novel, at least once. It has always been one of my dreams after all!

February ...And so i jumped on the lemmasoft forums to look for work. Found a person making a cute little self-love tale for the Valentines Jam and figured it was a good idea to give it a try. It was so much fun. Took the challenge as far as i could, and i'm still really proud of being part of this! Still not sure if game art is for me, but felt great to finally give my dream a try. If you take anything from this text wall, let it be "Wanna do something new with your art? Try it out!"

March I think it's around this time we started playing our TTRPG game (Asera)? Ok i forget when we started, but this was the month i sat down and designed my little thief (Layla) and my boyfriend's fighter (Daimyorus). Also made designs for Layla's family. It was a rather busy month (character design is time consuming!), but nothing really 'wow' to show off for it.

April This month i drew some memes for Asera, and sketched a bunch of illustration ideas... That are still sitting there, unfinished. You see, this same month i got accepted into my first zine ever, as a merch artist! Trying new things continued to pay off~ I got stickers done from sketch to flat colors around this time.

May Finished the sticker sheet for the zine (pictured), then proceeded to take...around a week on the phone wallpapers. I restarted it so many times before... When the idea finally clicked i stayed up till 4am drawing >>;;; I was terrified I'd miss the deadline, and had an apology letter on the back of my mind the whole time LOL Thankfully, it worked out and they were delivered in time. Sadly had to skip Mermay because i was busy with miscellaneous projects (only drew 1 mermaid for it, which I wanna redraw someday). Started making little chibi faces for my OCs so i could have a catalog... Which is an idea I wanna revisit later. Having a good reference of everyone would be really nice! (...even if i never do anything with them lol)

June Asera bug bit me again, and i spent a while making chibis for our characters. Also made chibis for NPCs. Designed more NPCs. Designed some of our weapons. For work, got commissioned by a VTuber to draw them and their pet (pictured). Technically finished on July3, but worked on it most in this month so eh LOL

July I made an off-hand comment about working on commissions a month or two before, then on July my friend approached me like "Hey, so you said you're doing comms... Can I get one too?" I had! So much fun! This is also the first time i recorded my drawing process (i do have plans on making a youtube channel eventually). It made me realize i... Take a bit too long. This one was 36hs. That's a bit much LOL But hey, i'm proud of it and both friend&his girlfriend like it, so 100% worth!

August Another busy month, drew some twitch screens for a friend, updated an old drawing (xmas chibis), filled some ff14 memes, experimented with a more sketchy style so i can have a faster type of drawing (...why didn't i post it?) Pictured is the bday gift i made for my boyfriend. Still haven't posted it here, but it's on my stash somewhere >>; It's filled with love!! Maybe that's why I'm still proud of it.

September Made the final twitch screen (pictured), and designed more outfits for Asera (fashion design is indeed my passion). Cleaned up twitter and started working on a TOS so i can maybe open commissions soon... Speaking of commissions, this is when i drew the Dauntless illustration. Nature BGs are my favorite thing ever!

October A very busy month. Worked on commissions (all 6 of the characters O_O) + bunny boy for the EW countdown. The original sketch for the commissions was.....interesting....idk how that got approved LOL But the final result is something I'm very proud of! For the rest, drew more sketches and outfit designs for Asera, plus a chibi sketch to commemorate EW's release (bf's wol and mine ON THE MOON)... Having no idea it would be delayed very soon LOL

November Got into a bit of an art block, which was broken by... Asera characters as Animal Crossing villagers!! Why are drawing memes/challenges the best thing ever?? After that, i managed to start working on a commission my sister asked. Drew all of her students and their favorite toys. They're all so friggin adorable ;_; Was stressful, yes, but also a great experience. Also i think this was my first time drawing real people? Well, my first time doing that for a commission at least!

December Sadly another art-block month. Made yet another Asera sketch (bc i don't have enough of these!), and twitch badges/emotes for ADigitalKing (pictured, also sorry for the hideous watermark, but they paid for it ok TT). Currently working on twitch emotes for my friend, but struggling to have them on a quality level i'm comfortable releasing.

Phew, what a year! My journey for a year where i have finished art to post on every month continues, but i'm proud of how much closer i got this time. Also got to try so many new things too! Overall, a good year.

So here's my tip for drawing backgrounds!

First, reference like... everything. Take pictures and screenshots of real life and games. Use those. Draw from those. Trace over real life things if you have to!

I used Magic Poser for reference with the background on the captain outfit one (the very green one lol) but to be perfectly honest with you, for the redraw of the second picture, I actually went into Sea of Thieves, loaded up a galleon, took screenshots of what I wanted, imported them into my drawing program, lowered the opacity of them, and sketched over 'em to get the ship proportions right! (I would have cried if I had to do that again freehand. The original drawing was on paper, so I suffered immensely.)

I also know of people who took screenshots in Minecraft and did something similar, where they kinda sketched over a very blocky screenshot of hills and landscapes and things, or some hand-built structure, and then turned it into a more smooth drawing inspired by the original screenshot! I'll say though that the tavern in the first is mostly just made up in my brain cells though XD

So. the butch hartman rant. i wanted to kinda just... talk about some of the weirdness of the dsmp artworks from an art perspective, cause we all know he does literally no research and its a shitty way to promote his stupid commissions. thats not what im talking about here. i want to talk about how the way he draws the characters either tells us nothing about their personality or actively hinders the audience from understanding who they are.

so, let’s start off with the first character he drew, Dream.

so without knowing anything about the character, what can we learn from this image butch has drawn? well, he’s got a really cartoony, almost silly gait to his run, and he seems like hes almost jumping excitedly, so at least what i am picking up from his pose alone is that he’s a fun, silly character, who is a bit of a fighter with his axe he uses. his mask looks cheerful, as if he’s just a normal looking young person- he looks 14 in this idfk why- who’s maybe a superhero? maybe he fights the bullies off at school or something.

and, as we all know, that is just the complete opposite of who dream is as a character. and that’s the start of how it can just completely shift who these characters are. how do we fix his posing to better reflect his personality? i feel like a slightly top-down angle, walking forward, holding the axe down towards the ground pose could show what an intimidating character he is. just an example though.

and i want to stay on dream for a moment longer to touch on the biggest problem butch has- because it doesn’t show up in dream’s art at all. it’s that his compositions cut off the characters at the weirdest spots and makes the drawing feel even more awkward than it already is.

we see this in technoblade’s fanart with one of his hooves getting cut off right at the tip, making you think he could have just sketched the character a little higher.

and we can see this in quackity’s artwork (im going to be pasting in the rant from earlier here so if youve read this already you can skip it)

in the video, he started from the head, and went down, so the waist up looks good, but he for some reason feels the need to try and fit a full body, even though the page doesn’t have room for it.

most people would just redraw the image to better fit the space of the page, but he doesn’t, and for an experienced person like him (i mean….. debatable but u know-), it shows just how fucking lazy he is and how much he just doesn’t give a shit about these characters. 

and now im going to touch on tommy because i want to culminate all of this with his latest (as of july 16th 2021) character.

so.... tommy.

tommy is the worst offender when it comes to his shitty designs (yes over wilbur) because sadly this one references a lot of things in canon but he fucks them up so that’s why his is the worst.

this design not only is just a terrible exercise in character design imo, but also just completely butchers everything about c!tommy all at once. 

let’s do the same thing we did with dream’s art. i see a very young, probably around 9-12 year old boy, posed very quietly and nervously, holding a sword he looks like he doesnt know how to use. he is dressed like a child playing pretend pirates in the backyard with his friends, and he has some bandaids on his face, probably from where he and his friends got into a tussle. 

and again, obviously this is just not tommy like. at fucking all. to accurately pose a character like this- when drawing them for the first time so we can get a read on their personality, WHO THEY ARE- i think he needs a pose more like dream’s or wilbur’s. 

he’s energetic and loud and bombastic (yes i know hes also a sweetheart and hes gentle and stuff but im talking about first and foremost what we see of tommy). give him a big shit-eating grin, have him hold a weapon like he knows how to use it, and make his stance something confident. because without the personality of the characters shining through- something butch hartman clearly knows nothing about- these are lifeless, shitty character designs.

and this has all culminated (thus far at least) with ranboo. my poor fucking boy. oh my sweet jesus [garfield speak to me meme goes here]. 

because god either hates me specifically or doesn’t exist at all, this happened. and we can use the things talked about above and see them here in this drawing. we have the complete misunderstanding of the character, to the point of him clearly just googling ‘ranboo’ and seeing the cc. 

we have the total lack of understanding how posing can show us things about a character- and i think ranboo’s is the worst because he’s not getting any information about who he is, BECAUSE he isnt seeing fanart. at least with characters like quackity he could pull at the very least a fucking expression from the fanart on google, but because he has nothing to go off of, the pose feels stiff and lifeless. 

we have the awkward cutoff of the drawing at the knees- which also have this weird shading applied to them that makes no sense unless we can see his feet? very odd choice. he does it on his back arm too, and it makes the arm look detached, almost prosthetic, because it’s one of the only parts of the drawing with that harsh shading- aside from the legs, which we can hardly see because theyre cut off. 

we have the fact that this is the sloppiest drawing of them all so far, with the glasses not even being set right on his face, the line on the black side of his mask not connecting at the cheek, and i am not even going to touch on how weird it is that he drew his thighs and crotch like that. not even touching on that.

and finally, we have the fact that ranboo and tommy are nearly the same age, and tommy looks 9 while ranboo looks 27.

i have no fucking clue if this was at all like. good. i just have a lot of fucking hatred for bitch fartman and i cannot believe- and it is a pure coincidence probably- that the first canonically not-cis character he picks to draw, he draws the fucking CONTENT CREATOR AND NOT THE CHARACTER BUTCH I HA-

Do you have advice for young artists? (If not, it's fine)

Sure thing!

To any young artists that follow me or happen to see this post, be you an actual young human being or an older adult who's only just starting to draw, all are welcome.

This is going to consist of general advise like learning more art and using tools to actually giving some art tips I've seen in amateur artists (including Little Me).

Long post ahoy! But hopefully a helpful one!

General Advise

1. Everyone learns at a different rate. I cannot stress this enough. If you and your best friend start drawing at the same time, your friend will more than likely not learn at the same rate as you. You might go faster, or maybe they rocket past you. This says nothing about your skills or someone being "better" than the other. That is just how you learn, and is 100% valid.

2. Don't compare your art to others. Like I said before, we all learn differently. If you see a peer's art and wish you could draw like that, that's fine, but don't let those kinds of thoughts drive your entire motivation. You will get there with time and practice. There are plenty of people that I want to draw like, and I'm practicing to get there. Slowly but surely.

3. There's always more to learn. No one has "mastered" art. There's always a new thing to learn, a new medium, new techniques, ect. Even the best artist to ever live had more to learn.

4. Use your tools! Be you a traditional or digital artist, there is no such thing as "cheating" on your art. Tracing and other forms of plagiarism I'll get to in a sec. But if you want a straight line, use the line tool or grab a ruler. If you want a bright light and you're on digital, use the Add tool or Hard Light. Watch a YouTube tutorial or get objects to trace around. The idea you're "cheating" by doing that is dumb. Don't listen to them.

5. Plagiarism stuff. Tracing is not plagiarism. If you do it for practice, that is perfectly fine! If you post it, make sure you credit the original piece (and it's not a bad idea to ask the original artist before you post it). It's when you don't credit the original artist that it becomes stealing and not okay. Make sure you leave enough tells that anyone could find the original art you traced if you post. If you don't post, then you're fine. You may still want to ask the original artist first, but again, just be careful about it. - On that, not all artists will agree with me, which is why I say to ask first. Some will be cool with it, others won't be.

Art Tips

1. Warm-up sketches are your friend. I know you got that idea in your head and the pose and lighting is super cool. Sketch that down so you don't forget it! But, don't make that sketch your final drawing. Draw circles, loops, straight lines, facial expressions, whatever works for you to get your brain and hand warmed up first. Otherwise, lines may be shaky, poses may be stiff, and expressions may be less expressive than they would be otherwise. You don't need a lot, just a few. Then you can start working on that masterpiece you saw in your head!

2. REST. PLEASE. I struggle with this one. If you love drawing, then you do it all the time. But here's the thing; your hands are a tool. Getting to be good at drawing is the same as an athlete training their body to run or swim. This means you NEED to take care of your WHOLE ARM, not just your hand/wrist. Rest it. Massage it. Warm it up first. You could cause permanent nerve damage if you're not careful. This goes for musicians, too! Please take care of yourself! If your hand starts hurting, rest it.

3. Find a subject. I don't see many people recommend this, but I've found it helps a lot. Find something you like and draw it over and over. If you're neurodivergent, this shouldn't be a problem- draw whatever you're currently hyperfixated on, lol. This means, yes, DRAW FANART. The design is already done! Now you just mold it to your will! Do screenshot redraws! Draw your fav hanging out with another fav! Use that muse to practice poses and expressions! Trust me, it helps!

4. Fame isn't everything. Follower count means nothing. It comes down to luck on the internet on whether or not people find your art, and on Tumblr, it has to be "good enough" to get reblogged. So if no one is finding your art, don't be discouraged! Again, don't compare yourself to other people. Draw for yourself. If people like what you do, they'll start trickling in.

5. Artstyle???? Okay, this one is weird. Having an artstyle is not something that you can decide to have, nor something that just comes naturally, but it also is both of those things? Basically, the more you draw something and then start doing so from memory, the more aspects of them will start changing over time. The way you draw hair will be influenced by other hair styles you've seen in the past that you liked (i.e. anime, cartoons, realistic, ect.). Same with eyes, hands, body shapes, and more. You can purposefully add in elements you like, and eventually a version of that will just become how you draw now, but even then, you will naturally add your own "spin" on it.

Take me for example. I am currently hyperfixated on Steven Universe, and have been since late 2019. I tried mimicking the show's art style, and it worked! I can draw pretty similarly to the show! Problem is, now it's taken over how I draw other things, too. Not completely, but elements of that style are still there, like eye shapes, hair, mouths especially, and noses. I can draw other things and outside of that style, but I have to actively decide to do so. SU is just part of my artstyle now.

6. Self-Improvement / Criticism. Okay, what's the difference between "Wow, this took forever and is a nice composition, but the lighting is a bit odd" and "Wow, this took way too long and the end result didn't pay off at all because that stupid light is overtaking everything"? That's right- attitude. When trying to improve, it's good to look for areas where you're struggling, but instead of hating those spots, try to focus on them. Look up lighting tutorials and tips on YouTube. Maybe lighting isn't the problem, maybe it's shading? Point is, always put a positive spin on it. Remember, there's always something more to learn.

7. Tracing / Redraws. Bringing this back up again, it is A-okay to do these things for practice. Tracing can really help teach you how anatomy works, how to do fun poses, or how to draw a character you really like. It's useful. But remember, if you post it, ask permission first and ALWAYS give credit. Same goes for screenshot redraws. If it's not yours, let people know what you were redrawing, and if it's a piece by another artist, show them! More than likely they'll love that you redrew their art, but ask before posting, and ABSOLUTELY give credit! If the artist wants you to link back to their original post, do that! Don't be afraid to do these things, just remember to be careful.

8. Drawing Fanart. I already said it here, but PLEASE go draw fanart. Drawing your favorite characters is already fun, and will make drawing even more fun overall, but it also teaches you so much. If you're looking to gain followers, drawing fanart for a show that has a big fandom is a good way to do it. Remember to tag your art so people can find it, and so people can block it if they don't like that character/fandom. Tag the fandom and the characters specifically. Trust me, this helps a lot! And again, it's just fun. I got started drawing FNaF fanart, and I loved it. It got me into video editing, music videos, and eventually writing stories and comics. Depending on what you do, drawing fanart could tell you anything you want to know. These are pre-established characters so you don't have to start from scratch. It makes everything so much easier.

9. Someone's being a meanie-head / criticism. If you get hate for your art, it's going to hurt, especially at first. Unfortunately, this is a downside of drawing fanart, since you're more likely to draw in those kinds of people. But don't listen to them. If they just want to ruin your day, spite them by drawing even more. Block them.

However, that said, criticism is NOT hate. If someone is criticizing you, you can choose what to do with that. If you're not in a good space to get that criticism, ignore it. That's valid. If you are, listen to what they're saying. If your line art is shaky or your lighting is weird and they tell you that, ask them how you can get better. Chances are they want to see you become a better artist. But again, it's up to you. You do NOT have to listen to these people if you don't want, but I've found they can be extremely helpful.

10. Okay, cool. How do I practice? Excellent question. I'm still figuring that one out. But something I've been trying recently is a little game I came up with. Find a playlist of songs you're familiar with and put it on shuffle. For every song that comes on, draw what that song reminds you of. But, you have until the song ends. This is good for warm-ups and for getting better at quickly slapping out ideas. You can put a spin on it and draw specific characters or prompts, too! Have fun with it! Other practices include* fanart, figure drawing, lines of action, quick draws, tracing, silhouette work, and far more.

*Each of these tips gets explained below. - Fanart: I already talked about that one in-depth - Figure Drawing: You have a model and try drawing the pose they're in - Line of Action: Imaginary line running down the spine. Use it to create dynamic poses. Here's a really quick vid that explains it. - Quick Draw: Not sure if there's another name, but it is what it sounds like: draw something you see very quickly. Get it as accurate as possible with however much time you have. - Tracing: Can help with poses and anatomy, always credit - Silhouettes: Draw the outline of a character and see if you can't tell who it is. Or, draw two ovals together and make an eye/eye brow expression from them together.
