Once upon a time there was a railroad line

On the road to hell there was a railroad track; if you ride that train till the end of the line, where the sun don't shine and it's always shady

-You won't even acknowledge me, not even in this! It's not your little world and me simply existing in it!

-...Anything but him, please!

-We both wish it had been YOU instead!

...That it was simply a matter of time.

Before anything else could happen, before he could stop the fire lamp from falling on Edgar's face, Shu found himself back at a white place. With a phonograph, to play the tunes he no longer heard. His music book, the pages crossed by black crayon and doodles of dogs and cats. A pillow to sleep the sorrows away, a half eaten apple and a puppy he knew all too well.

...Waiting for something to happen?

There was a door that cast a faint shadow. He could use it to get out into that strange dream world he'd met Laito and the others in a lucid dream. He didn't have the will this time. He just wanted to stay here, away from everything, away from himself if possible.

Destiny is not something you can escape, no matter how much you let sunlight blind you to it; the vampire king's firstborn...

You've been coming here to shut the world out for as long as you can remember.

...It's been centuries.

But in the last weeks there is something off here you can't put your finger on. There is a chandelier, hanging from the ceiling, wherever that is. In it are 6 candles, only two with colored flame, one yellow one green. They clash with everything else here, don't they? You have no idea why it's here. There is no need for light.

-Heyyyy... -an exhasperated half-growl echoed from afar, muffled- How long do you plan to drag this on?

That was a voice from outside. It sounded familiar in tone.

Shu half-opened his eyelids to come back to the real world and saw the starry sky, trees, stone structures and a tall, grown man instead of the child he'd somehow expected.

Yuma put a hand on the blond vampire's forehead. It felt cold, and he felt dumb; of course, Shu was an undead!

Shu's brow was furrowed in confusion. What was he doing?

Oh, right. Humans check for fever like that.

Yuma might still have moments in which he thinks he's human. Shu found it funny when he retracted the hand, embarrassed; he seemed to remember feeling for signs of life in him was pointless. He was easy to read as ever.

Yuma recovered fast,

-You somehow feel asleep on a stone cold bench in a garden! -he announced- You have a good skill right there, you'd be able to rest if you lived in the streets!

-...You came.

-I had to! -Yuma blurted out despite himself- ...And there was nothing else to do. -he added, almost casually- What did that apple mean? You just met me and you haven't investigated nuthin' 'bout me.

Shu almost smiled and sat up,

-It means it's time to give you back, like a lost boy.

Shu started walking toward the entrance, and Yuma frowned like a kid who had just been denied dinner.

-Hey, I forgot where I live! ...Wait, yer not going anywhere! -Yuma caught up and grabbed Shu by the back of his sweater,

-Stop that, -Shu dragged- it'll ruin my sweater...

Yuma pushed him against the nearest wall and pinned him there,

-You can't keep pretending you know nothing. I am trapped in empty memories, suddenly I meet ya people and I start having this strange thing where I can't even remember my own name. -Yuma pushed harder and grit his teeth- One last time before I snap. Do you people have anything to do with this?!

-Maybe. How should I know? -a calm Shu averted his eyes- Lately I am trapped in the opposite problem, I remember too much, particularly every time I want to rest.

Yuma lightened the pressure on Shu's chest. Surprisingly, this wasn't some evil bastard plotting the Mukami family's demise. He'd gotten an inkling, but this hidden sincerity confirmed it.

-Yuma Mukami, right? -Shu looked at his face again, looking for any changes he could barely notice; only small new scars and long lost freckles- Be glad there is no memory or fate to torment you.

Yuma opened his mouth to retort but Shu suddenly freed his left hand and pulled Yuma's clothes off his shoulder. A big burn scar crossed it.

-I see... -Shu tried to keep a neutral tone but failed- how did you get these?

Yuma jumped backward and pushed Shu's arms away. He was now officially creeped out.

-What the HELL? Are ya tryin' somethin' funny? You damn perverted aristocrats...

-Don't flatter yourself. -Shu retorted in a very well practiced dismissive tone- You have broad skin marks. What happened?

Yuma couldn't just bring himself to run into the forest again and leave this uncomfortable conversation. This was his only clue, and probably only means to return to his family.

Whoever they were.

The apathetic guy really didn't seem like a bad one. He looked sad rather than aroused or anything like that, now he'd stopped talking to observe; maybe Kou's story had come into his mind as the other guy tampered with his clothes; nobody ever checked your skin out of nowhere under normal circumstances.

This was anything but a normal circumstance.

There was nothing normal about either of the vampires involved.

-I... don't know, I've had them since I can remember. I can't remember anything before I was 13. They could be a clue about what happened but I have no idea what made them.

Shu met Edgar when he was 11; he wondered, again, what he had lived during those times, and how come he ended up a vampire.

Yuma saw the unspecified questions swimming in his eyes,

-I only remember I used to live in the streets with Boss, our gang leader, and other boys. -he sighed and approached Shu again- When they got killed I ended up in an orphanage. I met the others in a room they used to lock up problematic kids in.

Shu laughed a bit. It was only natural!

-We tried to run away and they shot us. I don't remember much after that other than making a deal with a massive guy with long white hair in a room red and hot as an oven.

-Our benefactor claimed to feel bad for us, and made an offer we couldn't refuse. -Yuma looked up, recalling Karl-Heinz's exact words- A second chance at life, if we helped him. I wasn't even sure if I was imagining shit.

Shu knew what this "benefactor" had offered.

-Sounds unfair, offering anything like that to a child in the brink of death.

-Che. -Yuma scoffed- I already spoke enough, are you gonna spill the beans, or what?

-You want to get back to your house, that's all I called you here for. I have no beans to spill, but something strange is indeed happening. My dreams are funny these days, but I'm sure yours aren't. -Shu pointed to the entrance and walked on under the windy night sky, beckoning Yuma- Come on in.

Yuma was confused, weird dreams were normal, weren't they? He was probably lying, too, but he'd get nothing out of beating him, either way, and he was tired and hungry.

-Why are you helping me? We've been nuthin' but trouble for you guys! -Yuma's voice started raising- We kidnapped your personal snack!!

Shu smiled again,

-I don't care, she's not my snack, and I'm sure you won't kill her.

-How would ya know that?!

-You... don't seem like a bad guy.

Shu muttered Edgar's words from the past about himself slowly, hoping, praying something might spark a remembrance in Yuma, but on the other hand, begging for it not to be the case; Yuma had been through enough.

Yuma fell silent, surprised, and as he recovered the ability to speak,

-HAH?

-So we're going to call your brother who kindly gave me his phone at school.

-Ruki WHAT? -it was Yuma's turn to laugh; that was impossible.

-...Something about his priorities being the brothers, or whatever. I didn't care enough to remember.

Yuma couldn't help but feeling a bit happy Ruki was willing to risk the mission for him, but wondered if some kind of punishment awaited once he got back...

Yui was dressing up after school, as she was finally going on a normal high school girl kind of outing! Almost normal, but it was okay- She was so excited! She couldn't help but feel embarrassed about how easy and with how little she could be presuaded to spend time with the Mukami brothers despite them having kidnapped her.

Granted, nobody in the Sakamaki family, not even Subaru, had ever gone to any trendy places nor tried to hang out with her pretending to be humans with her without causing a ruckus. It had normally only been walks around places that were open at night. Very late at night.

Yui felt a little sad but a little happy.

There was a knock on the door.

-Eve... may I... come in?

-Azusa! Yes, of course!

Azusa looked a bit shy,

-Hey Eve... Ruki won't be joining us today... he says Yuma... is at the Sakamaki's house...

-Is he okay?

-Yes, that Shu guy... found him somehow... he is not their... hostage.

Yui was confused. But at least now Azusa wouldn't be worried; his brothers might have been horrible, but Azusa was kind of sweet! Hopefully Subaru would like him as his friend someday too.

Another thought crossed her head, why was she wanting to be friends with Azusa? He had kidnapped her! And so had Kou!

-A-anyway, Azusa, too bad Ruki can't join but I'll be happy to hang out with you and Kou!

-I am happy too... to spend time with... our Eve. We will have... a great time!

Azusa smiled and left the room, not before pocketing Yui's nail clipper for dubious purposes, since Ruki had confiscated several sharp items from him lately.

Kou Mukami was still at school; of course he remembered he had kind of a date with the Masokitty he'd better not miss if he wanted to lure her more into him.

But it was his turn to return some bullcrap teacher stuff to the library and clean up the classroom by himself, on account of a little bit of glitter escaping the outfit he'd smuggled out of the idol agency to wear at school.

What true fashion lover wouldn't have taken that chance???? Either way, he was nearly done and trendy places would close later today, as it was Friday.

He had finished mopping the floor for the 4th time when he decided it was enough and cursed Karl for not giving him illusionism magic to simply hide the damned sparkles. So irritating and unfair.

On his way to the library, something felt off. Everyone was supposed to be gone, but he felt a presence. It felt sinister but familiar. The presence wasn't alone, but he couldn't make out the neutral presence from the sinister one.

Creepy. He'd do this fast.

As his footsteps echoed faster up the stairs and into the library halls full of dusty books he finally heard a page turn behind some shelves that made the space look labyrinthic in the slumber.

A bit nervous, he turned the corner and found Laito Sakamaki sitting on a chair with his legs crossed on a desk, casually reading an ominous-looking book. He was surrounded by two floating green flames that gave his eyes a look as if they were lanterns, a bit like his name.

Kou tried to tiptoe away from this unwelcome sight; he'd already seen the guy in a weird dream and didn't need this.

Too late. A giggle followed him.

And Laito appeared in front of him.

-AAAAH!

-So you are a screamer I.R.L. too -he smiled and showed two pointy fangs- You are a vampire too, no need to be afraid. And it's a full moon!

SHIT. And who the HELL called irl I.R.L. in real life????? Only if you were a vampire who hasn't quite caught up with the times...

There was no reason for Kou to be afraid, so he simply said something about having something to do and turned around.

-Ah, too bad. Your plans have been cancelled. -Laito proclaimed as green glowing chain barriers slithered over all possible exits- You see, it's a full moon, and my patience is short. I won't be satisfied easily...

No fucking way. Kou ran.

-Why are you so afraid? -Laito's voice followed him with an audibly raised eyebrow- I just want answers!

Kou stopped running. The book Laito was holding was about dreams; the sensation he had in his bowels got replaced by a different kind of cringing spasm. This was embarrassing; his history had caught up with him again. Kou raised his palms in surrender,

-Hey, if you simply wanna talk there is no need to put scary stuff on the door, is there?

Laito smiled ominously,

-They wouldn't bother you if you didn't want to leave... I know eeevery trick in the book! -he slowly approached Kou like a cobra would a mouse- I have had many, many people try to avoid my questions lately, and I'm not going to be left talking to myself tonight as well.

-What..? -Kou sort of could relate, but seriously, the magic chains were disturbing! He'd have to convince Laito to calm down, despite the fake calm demeanor he tried to exude. His eye told him it was as fake as the wigs in the TV studio. They were so fake yet so well done they looked uncanny.

He sat down on a chair in front of a library desk and invited Laito to sit down in the opposite chair. There was no way out of this; the Masokitty would have to hang out with just Ruki and Azusa.

Who knows, maybe Kou's absence made her heart grow fonder!

Reiji woke up with a headache after dreaming of having a shouting match with Shu on a railroad track. He should have maybe just exploded the mine he was inside of in the dream to have woken up less mentally sore.

Somebody was entering the mansion. He looked down the balcony. It was simply that good-for-nothing. Wait. Someone followed. The tall Mukami guy. What in tarnation?

He'd see what was happening from afar. This was fishy.

-Your brother's in his way to pick you up, better not make it too scandalous...

Reiji facepalmed. Why would that be scandalous?

-Ya sure have a house full of useless trinkets, what the hell do you have that broken phone for if you can just..?

-We never bothered to throw it away...

-Not even the guy who seems to have his shit together? I don't know him well but he looks like a real clean freak!

Reiji felt some pride and some nervousness. That guy had detected so much in so little time? He was glad the turmoil underneath wasn't so obvious.

Shu laughed at the guys's jokes. This guy looked very familiar but he couldn't put his finger on why. Shu had an almost loving look on him.

As if he'd found his person after a long time. Reiji cringed.

The doorbell rang and Ruki took Yuma with him after declaring Shu a decent man (WHAT) and thanking him.

He didn't feel like having that oaf hostage or anything but there was no reason to fraternize with thieves. Much less make their team whole again! Incomprehensible.

-Hey Reiji, what are you glaring at so intensely? -Kanato emerged from the bathroom, startling Reiji

-Never mind. It really is not my business why they stole that woman, either way, it's Subaru's girl, Subaru's case.

-Are you thinking how Shu making a friend is irritating?

-I am not interested in befriending terrorists, Kanato... but I am intrigued who the tall guy is. Have we met him before?

-No, I'd never seen him, and Teddy says he'd rather not meet him again.

Reiji was left wondering and rummaging his memories as Shu felt, for a few minutes, as he said goodbye to Ruki and Yuma, like the false human he had pretended to be for Edgar so long ago: happy?

-Eve... Kou said he's caught in school stuff tonight... so it's just the 2 of us... tonight... like a date, if you want!

Azusa's smile was very convincing and Yui really wanted to give in to make him happy, and she felt comfortable with him but she would be strong; she'd never do Subaru dirty like that!

-Ehh, yes, Azusa, a friend-date is a nice outing too!

-I'm very happy, Eve! Where do you wanna go first?

Yuma was relieved to be sitting on the soft limousine seat next to Ruki, heading home and sipping blood his brother had stolen from the hospital especially for him about a week ago. Ruki had anticipated some form of starvation and Yuma was grateful.

-Hey Ruki... -Yuma couldn't get something out of his head- what do you think could have made the shape of the scars I have on my shoulder?

Betrayal was always like a big knife in his dark heart. He was afraid of betrayal. He was afraid of trusting to others . He was afraid of love. That's why he avoided love. But he fell in the trap of love. The love that a beautiful and heavenly girl gave him as a gift, but now that girl was in the arms of another boy.

Ruki is afraid of love. Because he had always seen betrayal from love. Not loyalty and kindness. His mother loved him. But she left him. Now it happened again, the girl whom Ruki loves is standing next to another boy and kissing him. Ruki relives all his pain. The lock of his dark heart that was being opened has now become stronger and it is not going to be opened easily with this incident.

_Ruki looks at Yui and Riko with angry eyes. As if he can kill both of them right here.

Ruki: I knew. I knew I shouldn't trust you. Unworthy girl.

Yui: Ruki-kun, wait. you are making a mistake. The case is not as you think.

Ruki: Shut up. Insolent woman. Do not dare to call my name again with your dirty mouth.

Riko: Oh you. Don't talk to her like that.

Ruki: Ahhhhhh. I see. So you are the boy for whom this undeserving girl betrayed me.

_Ruki approaches Riko with fast steps and holds his collar tightly and lifts him from the ground with his collar due to the height difference.

Riko: What are you doing? I can't breathe....

Ruki: You took her from me. I will take your life from you too.

_Ruki punches Riko in the stomach.

*Thud Thud*

Riko: Aaaghhh..... kuh.....stop ....

Yui: Please stop. Enough, please.

_Ruki beats Riko again.

*Thud Thud*

Yui: Stop it. He is innocent. Please let him go.

_Ruki releases Riko's collar and Riko falls on the ground while his face is full of blood and tries to breathe.

Riko: Ha.... ha..... what is your problem...? Hah......

Ruki: Now I will tell you what my problem is.

_Ruki goes towards Yui and Yui takes a few steps back out of fear to avoid Ruki, but Ruki quickly reaches her and holds her wrist tightly and squeezes her wrist.

Yui: Ahhh. Stop. It hurts.

Riko: Stop it.

_Ruki removes the emerald sun necklace from Yui's necklace and looks at it.

Ruki: This is his gift, isn't it? stupid woman I can't believe you betrayed me because of a stupid gift.

_Ruki throws the stone under his feet and crushes it with his shoe until the stone breaks.

Yui: Stop it. you are hurting me I said it is not as you think. Please listen to me Ruki-kun.....

*smack*

_Yui's speech is interrupted by Ruki's hard slap on her face. A tear drops from Yui's eye and her cheek turns red from Ruki's slap.

Ruki: I said, don't call my name with your dirty mouth, insolent woman.

Riko: ......! You shit, stop it.....

_Riko writhes in pain.

Ruki: You better thank me for not killing you. And you...

_Ruki glares at Yui again.

Ruki: You betrayed me and I will make you pay for it.

_Ruki grabs Yui's wrist tighter than before and takes her with him.

Riko: (Yui-san......I will help you...I promise...)

*TIMESKIP*

_Ruki takes Yui to the dungeon. He opens the dungeon door and pushes Yui into the dungeon, causing Yui to fall hard.

Yui: Ahhh...please.....*Sob*..... listen to me.....*Sniff*....You....You....You got a misunderstanding. ...*Sob*....

Ruki: You are right.

Yui: .....!

Ruki: You are right, I had a misunderstanding. I was a fool to think that love is real and I let my guard down in front of you very easily.

Yui: Ruki-kun...please listen to me...

_Before Yui can finish her words, Ruki bites Yui's neck so hard that it becomes difficult for Yui to breathe.

Yui: Ahhhhhh...it hurts...

Ruki: ....Mmmm....

Ruki: Shut up. If one word comes out of your mouth, then I will give you twice as much pain.

Yui: Ahhh...

_Yui trembles with fear.

_Yui gives her hand to Ruki. Ruki squeezes Yui's hand tightly, which causes Yui to curl up in pain.

Ruki: Let me show you what will happen if you betray me. I was very stupid to trust you and be kind to you. I should have treated you like a prey from the beginning. This is what you deserve livestock......

_Ruki bites Yui's finger. Ruki's teeth pierce Yui's tender skin, which makes Yui cry.

Yui: ....ahhhhhh....*sob*.....

Ruki: This is not enough. Is it? Fingers have bones close to the skin, and the tip of the finger is very sensitive. That's why it hurts so much.

_Yui loses her body strength. Ruki lets go of Yui's hair and gets up off the floor. While smiling from above, he looks down at Yui's corpse covered in blood, who falls on the ground in despair and cries.

Yui: (How cruel... he is becoming the same as before... like when I met him for the first time...)

Ruki: But these are still not enough. I want to make you cry forever. I want to make you a scary memory as hell.

Yui: .....!

Ruki: Get up and go stand next to the wall.

_With the little strength left for her, she tries to get up from the ground and stumbles towards the wall and stands.

Yui: (He hasn't done anything yet????!!!!!)

_Ruki walks over to the table and picks up a whip and walks towards Yui with an evil look and a menacing grin.

Ruki: Hmmm... don't give me that pitiful look. I am not going to pity you. With this whip I will engrave all the signs of your sin on your body so that you will always remember what a shameful woman you are.

Yui: ....!

Ruki: Be quick. Raise your skirt.

_Fearful of further punishment, Yui obeys Ruki, holding her skirt with her small, trembling hands to reveal more skin from her legs to Ruki.

Ruki: Listen well. I don't want a single word to come out of your mouth. If you object, I will add ten lashes to the punishment.

*smack*

Yui: Ahhhhhh.....

Ruki: Be quick. Count. You have to reach one hundred.

Yui: (Oh my God... ONE HUNDRED ???????)

*smack*

Yui: Aaaahhhhhhh..... one...

*smack*

Yui: ....... Aaaaaaaagghhhh....Two....

Yui: Three...

_While looking at Yui with an evil grin, Ruki cracks her tender skin with a cruel whip.

*TIMESKIP*

Yui: Ahhhh... *Sob*.... Ninety eight....

*smack*

Yui: Hah.... Hah.... *Sob*.... Ninety-nine

Yui: Ahhhhh... one hundred...

_Saying the last number, Yui faints and falls to the ground. Ruki throws the whip and exits the dungeon and locks the dungeon door.

Ruki: (It was wrong from the beginning. I shouldn't have trusted this girl. What is it about this girl that makes me feel guilty even though she betrayed me?)

_Ruki gets out of the dungeon and notices that his brothers are standing behind the door.

Ruki: ......! Why are you here?

Kou: What's wrong with you Ruki-kun? What happened. We heard the crying and screaming of M-Neko-Chan from the dungeon.

Azusa: Is Eve...... okay?

Ruki: Don't talk about her in front of me. This dirty livestock deserves to stay in the dungeon and die there.

Yuma: Ruki what happened?

_Ruki walks away from his brothers without saying a word.

Kou: ......

Yuma: .......

Azusa: I'm going into the dungeon to get Eve out.

Yuma: Wait, Azusa.

_Yuma grabs Azusa's arm and stops him.

Yui: Ruki-kun.......*sob*.... why? *Sniff*..... *Sniff*.... Why don't you believe me?

Tears flow from Yui's bright eyes and she weeps alone. The beautiful goddess used to fly in the sky with her lover and was happy. Her lover has become a heavenly angel who wanted to save her from loneliness. The goddess was happy next to her lover. But this happiness did not last long.

The devil tried hard to break the lock of his dark heart and go to his beautiful goddess. But this lock is now stronger than before. Ruki forgot his love and now he is lost in a world darker than his heart.

Yui is more alone than before and goes back to sleep hoping to be free. The pain covers Yui's whole body and she tries to calm herself by singing a lullaby so that one day she can return to the warm embrace of her lover.

_Yui lays down on the cold floor to relieve her pain. Tears are flowing from her beautiful eyes and she tries to stop her tears.

Yui: Ruki-kun...... Ruki-kun...... Ruki-kun.

_Yui slowly closes her eyes.

Yui: (Ruki-kun.....I love you.)

He was right. His punishment is as painful as hell.

Is this punishment for my sins?

What is my sin?

I am alone in this darkness.

Maybe my sin is loving Ruki Kun.

every time i see diabolik lovers i feel a deep itch to see an original parody of this "violent dominating vampire" genre🤣🤣 look i just want a story of a human who can roast the hell outta the vampires they are stuck with. despite the disturbing and uncomfortable themes, the anime is strangely comedic at points.

i feel like they really fckin miss out on comedy gold with the "trapped with f*cked up asshole vampires with 99 problems" genre. and i heard the game is way better but its basically an abuse simulator with very little in the way of comedy, so im not sure id enjoy it much just because its take on the twisted fantasy predator prey relationship is not same as my own interests.

Carla: So you have woken up…?

You seem confused. 

Carla: You were asleep for quite a while. One would almost believe you had passed away. You have Founder’s blood running through your veins, thereby making you the sole woman on this Earth capable of reproducing with me. It would be highly unfortunate if you were to die here. 

You ask Carla what has happened. 

Carla: Are you afraid? However, it would be highly foolish not to pay mind to what lies behind you. While it may be dark, I am sure you can tell by the moonlight. If you fall down from here, it is game over for you. 

You shriek.

Carla: This is an old castle unknown to me. We are on top of one of its towers. Although I am certain we are currently located in the human world. 

Your face goes pale. 

Carla: Hmph. …If you have the time to get frightened, why not use it to worry about that man over there instead? 

You turn around. 

Subaru: Kuh…

*Rustle*

You rush towards Subaru. 

Subaru: Ah…Hah…

Carla: It appears that your wounds are still aching. 

You ask what happened. 

Carla: Do you believe this is my doing, perhaps? I see. Given the current situation, I suppose that is a valid judgment. After all, it is just the three of us here right now. 

Subaru: Ugh…He didn’t do this…Fuck! These injuries aren’t anythin’ serious, really. They’ll heal eventually. More importantly…Damnit! I can’t believe that weak bastard did us in…!” 

You tilt your head to the side.

Subaru: You don’t remember…? That guy named Kino. 

You shake your head. 

Subaru: Are your memories still jumbled after bein’ out cold for a while? Well…Guess I can hardly blame you. I’m talkin’ ‘bout that fishy guy who invaded our manor. He was goin’ on ‘bout bein’ Karlheinz’ illegitimate child or some crap like that. 

You start to remember. 

Subaru: You remembered? He’s the one I’m talkin’ ‘bout. He pretended to be Mr. Nice Guy, but was actually targetin’ us all along. …His attack caught me off guard, which was careless of me. 

Carla: I see. So you were fooled by a kind facade which allowed him to kidnap you with ease. 

Subaru: Hell no…! It was a surprise attack! The two of us were spending time together in the human world, when he suddenly ambushed us. 

Carla: You are the man who inherited Karlheinz’ powers. While he may have caught you off guard, with powers as strong, it should have been easy for you to overpower a mere Vampire. 

Subaru: How do you know that…!? 

Carla: Karlheinz was celebrated as a lofty King. When such an impactful individual’s powers are carried over to a successor, it simply cannot go unnoticed. 

Subaru: …Che. Fuck off. 

*Rustle*

Subaru: I did use my powers but it’s just…I lost control. I couldn’t handle the overload of power generating from within myself, as everything simply went black before my eyes. …Then by the time I regained consciousness, I found myself here. 

You question how the two of you even got here in the first place. 

Subaru: I assume he carried us here after I lost control and we passed out. …The fuck is that guy thinkin’...!? 

Carla: Not only did you fail to control your own powers and inflict damage upon yourself, but you even dragged that woman into it? 

Subaru: ーー Shut up! …Ugh…Kuh…

You seem worried about Subaru.

Subaru: Ah…Yeah…Are you alright though? I mean…You were directly exposed to the Old Man’s powers, right? 

You nod. 

Subaru: …Don’t thank me. I hardly protected you. It’s just…Well…I’m just glad you’re fine. 

You smile. 

Carla: Leave the chit-chat at that. We should not stay here for too long. This worn-down castle is a trap set up by that man named Kino. I assume he is testing whether or not we will be able to make it out of here alive. We are like mice at the mercy of a cat. If not, he would have simply taken the kill back then, rather than taking us here. 

Subaru: Why would he go through all the extra trouble? 

Carla: It all seems like a child’s game. …However, he might also be after the powers you inherited from Karlheinz in an attempt to claim that woman as his own.

You seem worried. 

Subaru: Kuh…! I don’t give a damn ‘bout the Old Man’s powers. …However, I won’t let him target her. I don’t care if it’s a trap or whatever, I refuse to let things go his way. 

Subaru gets up.

Subaru: Let’s go. I’m gonna flatten his castle with the ground!

Carla: Halt. An anti-magic barrier has been put up around the castle’s walls. It is a very powerful one capable of suppressing all Demons’ abilities. We are affected by it as well, so it will not be easy to escape this place. Above all, you have yet to gain full control over your overwhelming powers. Haste makes waste. You will only put that woman at risk once again.

Subaru: …! …Ugh! Then what am I supposed to do, huh!? 

Carla: Hmph. You have the King of Founders on your side. This little game is literally child’s play to me. All the two of you have to do is heed my every command. 

You frown. 

Carla: Hmph. What is the matter? Do you not like the idea of having to obey me? 

You explain. 

Subaru: Exactly…She does make a valid point. Why are you here in the first place? And why would you help us out? 

Carla: …There is no time to talk right now. Will you come with me? Or not? 

Subaru: …! …You better not believe you can pull some shit and get away with it! 

You hesitate. 

Subaru: Don’t worry…I’ll keep you safe no matter what. …Let’s go. 

The two of you follow Carla.

Eve's Inferno

Disembarking from the small boat, a young woman kept her hand in the ferryman's as he assisted her down. He smiled gently with ashen lips and doleful eyes, nodding to a set of double doors awaiting her.

Thanking him, she offered coins for the ride but was met with a quiet decline. He soon pushed off the dead earth, slinking back up the dark, murky waters of the cavern's river.

The grey doors had vast, intricate carvings of desperate people rising out of it, frozen mid-air, arms outstretched and clawing as though trying to escape. She wondered if they were real human souls, trapped as such a mundane part of the underworld. Taking a breath, she set her shoulders and reached out. The doors opened easily under her hesitant touch.

The woman didn't know what to expect behind them. Perhaps fire and brimstone, the dead or dying, tortured continuously and screams ringing out. But the vast, open space looked empty. There were no cries of pain, blissfully silent. A large cave awaited her, walls dark and jagged with obsidian rock. At her feet lay a cool, frozen lake, solid enough for her to stand on as it took up the entirety of the floor, spreading wide. Curling, misty air didn't chill her bones or make breath visible, instead feeling a little heady.

She steeled herself, walking forwards. In all the domain only a single thing truly held her gaze, that of a lone white tree standing on a small island. The shock of white and green was impossible to ignore.

With careful steps, she crossed the lonely, silent space. Walking onto the island, fresh grass crunched beneath her feet- soon coming to a stop. Breath catching, wide eyes took in the sight of a man with familiar dark hair reclined against the tree. He held a book, pale fingers gripping its spine.

She could not place how she felt, standing there, watching him calmly read. Soft, blue-grey eyes looked as disarming as she remembered when they flicked up to her. But they could sharpen. That tempting mouth could praise and charm one moment and then damn her the next.

"Good to see you, Yui."

"Hello Ruki," she murmured, folding her hands before her skirts. Swallowing, she babbled; "I didn't pay the ferryman, I hope that's alright."

"Azusa can be overly generous, it hardly matters," he dismissed, shifting long legs. "What can I do for you?"

Yui's fingers twisted into her sleeve. The casualness of his question belied Ruki's penchant for manipulation. If she weren't careful, she'd make a mistake, just like their last meeting all those years ago in Eden.

So, raising her head, she set thin shoulders. "I'm here for Adam," her tone was firm and final.

No surprise flickered in his expression, attention returning to his book as though bored.

"I-if you can't give him to me, then I'd like to know where he is. I've been looking for him in the other eight circles for-"

"Centuries, I know."

Annoyance flared, "if you knew, why didn't you meet with me? The other princes weren't very..." she trailed off, curbing her tongue for the sake of diplomacy, "helpful."

A deceptively pleasant chuckle rang out. "Do you expect the ruler of a domain to heed every whim from their subjects? Especially subjects of hell?" Cruel lips curved as he shifted, setting the book down before standing. "Besides, most people when searching for someone will give a description."

Yui held her ground when he approached, heart thundering- drumming wildly in her ears. "You know what he looks like."

"But you don't."

The dark-haired young man, despite his handsome features, did not possess a presence that stood out or screamed malice. When compared with the other princes, his appearance wasn't as eye-catching, attitude not as loud or attention-grabbing. In a crowd, your gaze would likely pass over him. Despite this, when he stepped closer, Yui felt a pressure in the air. A type of sticky humidity that heralded storms. Those eyes, so calm and cold, implored her to confess her sins and sink to her knees. He'd treat her like a pet. A well-fed, maybe even cared for pet, but a pet nonetheless.

"P-please don't toy with me," she murmured. "You probably removed my memories of his face and voice, but I remember Eden. You won't keep us apart."

Ruki reached for her, brushing a shock of cold knuckles against her cheek. Yui congratulated herself for not flinching despite the rush of feeling that attacked her. Compared to the second circle of Lust, with prince Laito's thoughtless, grabby hands, this was nothing. And yet... such a small touch demanded her attention, skin pricking.

"Of course you'd assume I did that. Doesn't it occur to you that he put you here and dictated your punishment?" Hot breath fanned over her mouth, and something tightened in Yui's lower stomach. Lulled by the stroke of his fingers gliding from chin to ear, Yui rocked back on her heels to try to clear her head.

That touch changed- locking into blonde hair and grasping tight to prevent escape. Yui stilled with a gasp, gritting her teeth.

"You're afraid," he purred.

"N-no," she thought for a moment and admitted; "not of what you can do to me. Just of my memories fading."

She'd seen what that did to souls. Lost, wandering figures mourning their own condition. They couldn't even remember their own names.

That touch turned gentle and soothing again, but she didn't trust it not to turn into violence at a second's notice. "Why do you care so much about finding him?"

"B-because I love him?" Wasn't that a question with an obvious answer? She'd literally been created from a rib to be Adam's other half.

"You can't love someone you don't remember. Someone you don't know. You'd trust a stranger like that?" Devastatingly beautiful eyes shifted over her pale expression, his pupils slightly slit. Ruki leaned closer, lips ghosting over the delicate shell of her ear. This time she was unable to suppress a shiver. "You should give yourself over to your Master's hands instead... I wouldn't treat my Livestock poorly."

Something hot churned in her stomach. "You're not my Master and I'm not cattle."

A low chuckle resounded in her ear, firm fingers gliding down her spine. "I seem to remember us having a conversation similar to this a long time ago. Do you recall?"

Yui squeezed her eyes shut, trying to push back the memory. It flooded through the gaps between her fingers like water. She could suddenly smell thick, choking scents of roses, feel lush grass and flowers brushing at bare legs. Lashes reluctantly opened, and her breath hitched.

The lake and lone tree were nowhere in sight. Ruki had vanished. Instead, she found herself wandering through the achingly familiar gardens of Eden. Birds sang to each other in twisting trees, lions and other predators lazed around, heedless of her or other prey. Yui felt her skin prick from a faint chill in the air, glancing down to find herself naked.

It was all exactly as she remembered. She'd become Eve again, lost in those painful memories that had haunted her for centuries. Only... she still couldn't remember Adam.

Rounding a large flower bed, Eve lay eyes on a single tree, separated from all other greenery. It bore fruit, red apples catching the sun in such a way that salvia filled her mouth at the mere thought of tasting them.

"You can have one if you like."

Eve's gaze slid down the apple tree's truck to find a man leaning against it. No, not a man.

An angel.

She frowned, making no move to cover herself as she approached.

"But I was told not to."

The dark-haired angel smiled, and she felt no reason to be afraid. "Why do you obey blindly?"

"I don't know."

Some frustration marred his handsome face. He gestured to a small pond not too far away, "go look into the water."

The woman did so because she'd been told to, and it didn't cross her mind to resist. Kneeling at the water's edge, blonde hair slid forward and Eve's breath hitched at the sight of her own reflection. Her eyes struggled to take in the image, a stunned hand raising to touch her reddening cheek.

'That's me...'

Complicated thoughts blazed to life in her mind where none had been before. Wonder, perception, a briefly vain absorption in her own existence having palpable proof before her eyes. What a gentle and pretty face. She loved it simply because it was her own, something that only she owned. Eve was at once changed. No longer an extension of Adam, she felt like a person.

The angel knelt not too far away. "I'll ask again; why do you obey blindly?"

"Well because..." she trailed off, swallowing. "I suppose I was created after Adam so I should behave in order to show my gratitude?"

"You act like a Livestock that's been reared and bred in a shelter. That doesn't sound like honest loyalty to me."

"No, I- maybe it isn't, " her arms moved to hug herself, wondering why she felt a little cold. Maybe it was the strange, isolated feeling his question awakened in her. "What is... honest loyalty?"

His eyes sharpened, tone becoming firm. "It's when you can be certain the one you've put faith in can care for you. In turn, you support them, like they're a worthy Master."

Eve picked at soft green grass, mulling this over. "Sounds as though you have experience with it."

"Mn, though lately, I've been feeling dissatisfied."

She got the sense that he wouldn't be saying anything more. "I feel... different. Like I'm not the same Eve as a moment ago."

Her companion shifted to stand, some white feathers from exquisite wings falling to land on the water's surface. She watched them float and twirl slowly with fascination.

"If you're someone else, you could always give yourself a new name," he casually suggested.

"Give... myself?" Eve chewed on her bottom lip, thinking. A name came out of nowhere. No one suggested it, so at once, she felt slightly giddy and pleased with her hushed murmur of: "...Yui."

Blue-grey eyes shifted. A pale hand rested on his chest as he bowed slightly. "Yui. Well met."

"Well met," she blushed, glancing at the funny material wrapped around his body curiously. "What's your name?"

"I was given the name Lucifer."

Yui tilted her head, sending lush falls of blonde over one shoulder. "Oh, did you change yours too?"

"Yes. I chose the name Ruki instead."

Her hands curled in her hair, testing out the new name on her tongue. "Ru...ki."

Ruki stiffened slightly, attention weighed upon her like a heavy, palpable thing with substance and form. She felt her cheeks flush, remembering the reflection of herself in the water. For the first time, she wondered what he might be thinking. What an angel's own perception of her was like.

"Mn... there's no need to get caught up with trivial things," he cleared his throat, walking towards the tree again.

"I wanted to ask about those things draping over your body," Yui chirped, following.

"My clothes? More trivial talk," he sighed, not particularly annoyed, however. Ruki stopped by the truck and rested a hand upon it, "you can have clothes too if you desire."

"I can?" So many new things were being offered to her today! She felt as though discovery was perhaps the single most wonderful thing to experience. She hungered for more- like the reflection and her new name. "Yes. I'd like that!"

He made a gesture, twisting his wrist in the air- and at once those strange, wondrous threads were wrapped around her, covering her shoulders but clinging around her chest and then falling down to her feet like a waterfall. Yui touched the material, finding it soft. She giggled, looking at him. "Thank you," she said breathlessly.

Ruki nodded, face unreadable. He then gestured to the fruit hanging above them. "You can still take one of these if you wanted."

At this, she hesitated, stopping by his side. "I... I'm not sure..."

"Did we not establish that you don't have to give your loyalty to someone who hasn't earned it?" His pleasant voice remained patient. A cool hand, chilled to the touch, met the base of her spine. The woman stilled, feeling that palm drag up her back, before curling in her hair. He seemed at once too close and yet not near enough.

"Maybe if I... take a bite, I can explain that I was just discovering new things? I'll know what it's like and won't be tempted anymore," she murmured.

Strong fingers tightened, stroking the back of her neck. "What an interesting word to use. Yes, I suppose you won't be tempted. You'll have had experience, and no one should punish you for that."

She agreed and reached up of her own volition, grasping a red fruit and yanking to break it free. She then sank blunt teeth into the apple, making a noise as juices overflowed in her mouth. Ruki's slit gaze dilated.

"It tastes wonderful!" She smiled, offering him some. The angel refused, taking a few steps back.

"I'm happy for you, but I should really be going now."

"Oh," Yui wilted, not even noticing the darkening, angry clouds above. "A-alright, I'll see you later! I should go share this with Adam."

"Yes..."

Blinking, Yui shook herself. Like an after-image, Ruki and the gardens changed. They melted away, revealing the lonesome lake once more. Ruki stood without his wings, having lost them in the fall. She could remember hearing about his uprising, his sins. They were far worse and more numerous than her own, and yet there they stood, together in the last layer of Hell. Two traitors.

"You didn't need to show me that," Yui murmured. "I do still remember. Please, please just tell me where Adam is."

Ruki looked almost deceptively kind for a moment, features softening. "They forgave Adam. He has been accepted into Heaven and left you behind, Eve."

Her knees threatened to buckle, lungs constricting. No, no, she needed to calm down. Of course he'd lie. "The truth, please," she gritted out.

Strong hands caught her slim waist as she moved back, starting violently at his touch and proximity. "I am not lying, Livestock."

"How can you expect me to believe you?" tears pricked her eyes.

"I understand-" he hissed, gathering Yui's thin, shivering body closer and curling around her. "I'm the snake that tempted Eve. You don't trust me and see me as nothing but an unworthy Master- but there's a place for you, here Eve." The smoke of a smile lingered on his lips, unseen by her, but she could hear it, feel it in his voice. "Here, by my side. We're a lot alike, cast out for our sins. All we did was utilise our free will. I'm not like him..." Ruki quietly purrs. "I won't shut you out no matter how much you sin."

Tears leaked down her cheeks as Yui raised her head, finding his lips much closer than anticipated. "Just give me your loyalty."

Trembling, the sensation of his mouth pressing against hers stole her breath. Shame rose to mingle with the glow he elicited within her chest, feeling herself considering, wondering if perhaps- just maybe... he genuinely cared for her.

'What is...honest loyalty?'

Yui's fingers curled in his clothes.

'It's when you can be certain the one you've put faith in can care for you. In turn, you support them, like they're...a worthy Master.'

Two hands shot out, shoving against his chest. 

Ruki grunted, eyes flashing. "Yui-"

"No! I-if it is true, then I-I'm happy for him!" Yui yelled. "Adam deserves to be free, but I won't ever give you my loyalty. I won't be your Livestock," she turned, hurrying away.

"Yui!" Ruki snarled, something hard leaking into his voice.

She stepped off the island, landing upon the lake a second before his hand met a barrier. Yui blinked, noting that he couldn't seem to set foot off the island, unable to leave the tree where he'd helped her commit the first sin of man. It seemed someone up in Heaven had a sense of humour.

Her blonde hair bounced as she jogged away, having no idea where to go. Anywhere was better than with him.

"You can't leave," came his quiet voice. "We'll keep going over this. We'll keep doing it, as many times as it takes for you to say yes."

Yui ignored him, reaching out to touch the large grey doors- only to hear a quiet snap of fingers behind her.

Sitting up, she stifled a yawn.

"We're here, miss."

Psycho Analysis: The Horned King

(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)

“Style over substance” is something that gets thrown around a lot, usually when describing things that the person using it doesn’t like. I’ve never really understood why this has to be a negative thing; sometimes being cool is a lot better than being amazing, deep, and philosophical. Metal Gear Rising and Danger: Diabolik are not works of art that will be giving you a deeper insight on the human condition, but boy are they ever works of art that are really freakin’ cool!

This villain may very well be the epitome of “Style over substance:” The Horned King from Disney’s cult classic The Black Cauldron. He’s not a particularly deep villain for sure, but you are incredibly unlikely to forget him due to his sinister design, intimidating presence, and fantastic vocal performance.

Motivation/Goals: The Horned King wishes to be worshiped and rule over the world, and so his goal is to use the titular artifact of the film to raise an army of the dead and wipe out all life in Prydain. This is the stuff generic doomsday villains are made of, and frankly his motivation isn’t what makes him interesting; it just serves to set him up as the opposing force to the heroes. That being said, while he definitely fits the bill for the generic doomsday villain, he does have a bit more going for him than, say, Ronan, Apocalypse, or, God forbid, Malekith.

Performance: The legendary John Hurt portrayed the Horned King, and as one would expect from one of cinema’s finest, he dives right in to the role and manages to elevate what would be a generic sorcerous overlord into something a bit more impressive. His vocal performance really is doing most of the work alongside the character design, as it’s not like the character himself does much, but so much is implied just by the way he speaks. Hurt’s voice just makes the Horned King ooze with personality, even when you don’t see him doing much.

Final Fate: In what is without a doubt the most gruesome death in all of the Disney animated canon, the Horned King has his flesh torn off by the titular cauldron, then his bones are set on fire and disintegrate, and if that’s not enough overkill for you his soul is most likely trapped eternally inside the Black Cauldron. It’s just a shame that the lead up to this grisly fate is one of the most embarrassing showdowns in the Disney canon, with the hero basically doing nothing and the Horned King practically just tripping to his doom.

Best Scene: His incredibly over-the-top entrance, where he teleports into the room. Watch how the entire tone shifts immediately once his presence is so much as suspected; it’s a great moment that establishes the tone of the character extremely well.

Best Quote: He’s not exactly the most quotable Disney villain out there, sadly, but within his rare appearances in the theme parks, he has one hell of a monologue. Witness his speech at the Cinderella’s Castle Mystery Tour from Tokyo Disneyland:

“Everyone, welcome. In this Black Cauldron, everything in the world is controlled. Don't be afraid, it will all be over shortly. No one can escape from here, and you'll be sacrificed to the Black Cauldron. Oh Satan's kiln, awaken and resurrect the soldiers of death. Rebuild an army without rivals. The army of death. Rise. The devil's servants, go and capture them and throw them into the cauldron. Don't leave anyone behind. The Black Cauldron wants more bodies, I swear to the death. Nobody can destroy me.”

Final Thoughts & Score: The Horned King is a very interesting villain because if I just described what  he actually does in the film, you likely wouldn’t be impressed and would write him off easily. But it’s not really what he does that has made him an enduring Disney cult icon; it’s the personality of the Horned King is truly where you start to see why he’s such a beloved villain. The most obvious standout trait he has is his lack of humor; while there are scant few occasions where he shows a little bit of sarcasm, he is entirely, completely deathly serious for most of the film. Laughter dies when he appears onscreen. Characters tremble before him. He is an utterly terrifying presence in the film.

And it’s even weirder that this is the case when he really seems to have very little combat prowess or skill whatsoever. It is implied that he is a powerful wizard, but he doesn’t really utilize his magic much at all. In fact, for most of the film he merely does what any king would do: he orders his servants about. The sheer terrifying presence he exudes is enough to cow his minions into servitude, and they enact his will without question. This makes him one of the most unique Disney villains out there; most of them at least make some sort of attempt to fight, or do something, but not the Horned King. He merely fills others with fear through his existence and commands others to do his bidding.

The Horned King is one of the most popular obscure Disney villains, and easily the best part of the film he’s in, the flawed but still pretty impressive film that it is. Fans have clamored for years for him to make some sort of appearance elsewhere, particularly in the Kingdom Hearts series, and for what it’s worth his name apparently gets tossed around when they come up with each new game. At the very least, he’s recently become a playable character in Disney’s mobile game Disney Arena, which is frankly amazing and a testament to that game’s quality when they’ll plumb the depths of Disney’s library to let you play as obscure characters in a mobile RPG. It’s pretty obvious that, if not for the negative initial reception the film received, the Horned King would likely be more visible in modern Disney villain lineups as opposed to the situation he is in now, and maybe he’d already have more appearances outside of mobile games and a constant string of “maybes” for Kingdom Hearts under his belt to make him an icon on the level of Maleficent, Hades, or Jafar.

I think that despite how cool I find him personally, I can only truly justify giving him a 7/10. This sims a bit high for a character I have stressed really doesn’t do anything, but with the King, it’s all about his presentation. Yes, in the movie he’s not very proactive, he hardly uses any magic, and he ends up dying in a gory yet rather anticlimactic way… but there is so much implied by the fear he induces in those who serve him, in the way that him simply entering the room commands the silent attention of all his servants. He doesn’t do anything, but the way the movie presents him to you he really doesn’t have to; your mind fills things in just by seeing the way others react to him. I kind of find that undeniably fascinating that this movie practically demands you to use your imagination to conjure up the sort of horrors the Villain might be capable of. All of that might not make him one of Disney’s greatest villains ever of course, but it most definitely makes him one of Disney’s coolest.

Anime for Halloween

I should have posted this before my movies list. But hell, It’s here now and Y’all can binge-watch over the next month. But little disclaimer. These are anime I have seen and ones I associate with Halloween because they have to do with something from the holiday. So anything with Vampires, witches, demons, etc. Anything I got a Halloween-y vibe from. This list is gonna be kind of long. Now time for me to suffer typing it and yall to get an idea from reading it.

07-Ghost

Teito Klein, a student at the academy, is one of the most promising soldiers produced. Although ridiculed by everyone for being a sklave (German for slave) with no memories of his past, he is befriended by a fellow student called Mikage. While preparing for the final exam, Teito uncovers a dark secret related to his past. When an attempt to assassinate Ayanami, a high-ranking official who killed his father, fails, Teito is locked away awaiting punishment.

This one is religious, HOWEVER, Demons and the Gods of Death kinda make it more Halloween-y so :p Also as a side note; It’s only subbed so all y’all who prefer dub are gonna be disappointed.

Ancient Magus Bride

Chise Hatori, a 15-year-old Japanese girl, was sold for five million pounds at an auction to a tall masked gentleman. Abandoned at a young age and ridiculed by her peers for her unconventional behavior, she was ready to give herself to any buyer if it meant having a place to go home to. In chains and on her way to an unknown fate, she hears whispers from robed men along her path, gossiping and complaining that such a buyer got his hands on a rare "Sleigh Beggy." Ignoring the murmurs, the mysterious man leads the girl to a study, where he reveals himself to be Elias Ainsworth—a magus. After a brief confrontation and a bit of teleportation magic, the two open their eyes to Elias' picturesque cottage in rural England. Greeted by fairies and surrounded by weird and wonderful beings upon her arrival, these events mark the beginning of Chise's story as the apprentice and supposed bride of the ancient magus.

I love this one so much. My only issue is what would have made it more Halloween inspired would have been if they’s gone through Samhain and not skipped straight to Yule. BUT monsters, mages, witches, alchemists, and fae make this anime perfect for magic inspire Halloween watch.

Another

In 1972, a popular student in Yomiyama North Middle School's class 3-3 named Misaki passed away during the school year. Since then, the town of Yomiyama has been shrouded by a fearful atmosphere, from the dark secrets hidden deep within.

Horror, horror, horror and gore. Enjoy this with friends and family who have a strong stomach and are old enough to not get scared. The deaths are absolutely horrific and it takes place all around a middle school class. (Read the novel, of the same name, it’s based off if you dare)

Ao no Exorcist

Humans and demons are two sides of the same coin, as are Assiah and Gehenna, their respective worlds. The only way to travel between the realms is by the means of possession, like in ghost stories. However, Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, cannot find a suitable host to possess and therefore, remains imprisoned in his world. In a desperate attempt to conquer Assiah, he sends his son instead, intending for him to eventually grow into a vessel capable of possession by the demon king.

Anyone who’s been around anime long enough knows or knows of this anime. Who wouldn’t have added this into their Halloween Anime list? It has to do with Demons and the Son of Satan.

Black Butler  

Young Ciel Phantomhive is known as "the Queen's Guard Dog," taking care of the many unsettling events that occur in Victorian England for Her Majesty. Aided by Sebastian Michaelis, his loyal butler with seemingly inhuman abilities, Ciel uses whatever means necessary to get the job done. But is there more to this black-clad butler than meets the eye?

Classic as well. Don’t forget the movies and season 3. We don’t speak of season 2 0.0″ Also the manga has taken a VERY dark turn as of recent so if you’re looking for reading material, there you go.

Blood-C 

Peaceful schoolgirl by day, fearsome monster slayer by night, Saya Kisaragi is leading a split life. Equipped with a ceremonial sword given to her by her father for sacred tasks, she vanquishes every monster who dares threaten her quiet little village. But all too soon, Saya's reality and everything she believes to be true is tested, when she overhears the monsters speak of a broken covenant—something she knows nothing about. And then, unexpectedly, a strange dog appears; it asks her to whom she promised to protect the village, curious as to what would happen if she were to break that promise. Tormented by unexplainable visions and her world unraveling around her, we travel with Saya through her struggle to find a way to the truth in a village where nothing is as it seems.

Another very gory anime. Children, please do avoid.

Bloodivores

60 years ago, a strange case of insomnia struck the population, forcing them to stay awake for more than a full week. The victims, completely sleep deprived, all went mad. To cure this illness, a new medicine was produced, but the side effects turned the patients into vampires. Humanity went to war against this new species and triumphed, but some of the vampires managed to survive. Born from a Human and a Vampire, the main character Mi Liu, "The Child of Hope," is to represent the new hope that will connect the two species. Ringleader of a bank robbery, Mi Liu is arrested and transferred to a special prison of the National Defense Agency that monitors Vampires.

Genetically created vampires. Need I say more?

Blood Lad

Staz Charlie Blood is a powerful vampire who rules the Eastern district of Demon World. According to rumors, he is a bloodthirsty and merciless monster, but in reality, Staz is just an otaku obsessed with Japanese culture and completely uninterested in human blood. Leaving the management of his territory to his underlings, Staz spends his days lazing around, indulging in anime, manga, and games.

A vampire otaku... Thank you, this is exactly what I needed. 

D.Gray-Man

Losing a loved one is so painful that one may sometimes wish to be able to resurrect them—a weakness that the enigmatic Millennium Earl exploits. To make his mechanical weapons known as "Akuma," he uses the souls of the dead that are called back. Once a soul is placed in an Akuma, it is trapped forever, and the only way to save them is to exorcise them from their vessel using the Anti-Akuma weapon, "Innocence."

*Piece of advice. D. Gray-Man the first series was not finished in Dub if you’re one who prefers Dub. So heading into D. Gray-Man Hollow, you’ll be confused as hell. It’s best to just watch Sub so you don’t have to worry about missing a huge chunk of info. 

But if you like anime about demons and exorcists there’s more than just Blue Exorcist. This one I suggest because it’s phenomenal, but that’s personal opinion XD

Dance with Devils

Ritsuka Tachibana has always been a good student, so she is completely shocked when she is suddenly summoned by the student council. Even more, they seem to think of Ritsuka as a troublemaker. Led by the handsome Rem Kaginuki, the student council—also consisting of Urie Sogami, Shiki Natsumizaka, and Mage Nanashiro—tries to question her, but it soon becomes clear that they have ulterior motives.

This is one based off an Otome (Dating game) so try YT for gameplay if you wanna see the whole story. Yet another about demons and exorcists, but this time there are vampires and Cerberus added to the mix. Plus for those who know-how Otome heroines are basically pushovers, this one has a strong-willed girl as our protagonist. Thank you, Ritsuka for breaking the mold T/\T

Diabolik Lovers

At the behest of her father, Yui Komori goes to live in a secluded mansion, home to the six Sakamaki brothers—Shuu, Reiji, Ayato, Kanato, Laito, and Subaru—a family of vampires. Though at first the siblings are confused as to why the girl has arrived, they soon realize that she is to be their new "sacrificial bride," not to mention their other, more carnal intentions for her. After meeting the brothers, Yui quickly begins to question why her father would have sent her here and why she feels a strange, new pain in her chest. With each brother more sadistic than the last, Yui's life as a captive takes a harrowing turn in her new home. As her days turn into endless nights, and each brother vows to make her his own, Yui falls deeper and deeper into madness and ecstasy.

Otome with like 4? games, try YT for gameplay. I’m a little sad that it only has two seasons and the episodes are like 13-15 minutes long. Still, if you like Otome based games, you’ve most likely seen this. DO NOT EXPECT VANILLA ROMANCE. THIS IS NOT A FUN RIDE IF YOU EXPECT THAT.

Death Note

A shinigami, as a god of death, can kill any person—provided they see their victim's face and write their victim's name in a notebook called a Death Note. One day, Ryuk, bored by the shinigami lifestyle and interested in seeing how a human would use a Death Note, drops one into the human realm.

Classic... But not my personal cup of tea. I added it because it’s a salute to one of my dear friends.

Little Witch Academia

"A believing heart is your magic!"—these were the words that Atsuko "Akko" Kagari's idol, the renowned witch Shiny Chariot, said to her during a magic performance years ago. Since then, Akko has lived by these words and aspired to be a witch just like Shiny Chariot, one that can make people smile. Hence, even her non-magical background does not stop her from enrolling in Luna Nova Magical Academy.

This one is just cute and intense. Witches are starting to die out but one girl wants desperately to be a witch like her idol was. I love how this brings in witchy elements and some fairy tale elements.

Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist

The story revolves around William, an aristocratic family's progeny with rare intellect. One day, his uncle lost his possessions after his business failed. Fearing that his family's name has been tarnished, William returns home and searches with his family's butler for anything that can be converted into cash. A search of the premises yields an underground room left by an ancestor. In the room is a magical seal, and William unintentionally summons a devil. The summoned devil tells William his name Dantalion and reveals that William is the designator who can choose the acting ruler of the demon world.

If realists were like William, I think the world would be on fire. The poor people that have to deal with him. At least most of them are demons, maybe that will knock his head into gear... right?

Miira No Kaikata 

High school student Sora Kashiwagi is accustomed to receiving bizarre presents from his father, who is on an expedition around the world. Unfortunately, these gifts have been nothing but nightmares. As a result, when his father sends him a huge package from Egypt, Sora prepares himself for the worst, only to be greeted by Mii-kun—a cute, pint-sized mummy! While initially wary, Sora soon learns that Mii-kun is harmless, a delicate creature yearning for attention.

I can understand people who don’t like horror or gore. I was there once. So here’s a cute anime about a boy and his pet mummy. Sanrio really did a great job turning the manga, which was darker than the anime, into something so cute and so wholesome.

Mirai Nikki

Lonely high school student, Yukiteru Amano, spends his days writing a diary on his cellphone while conversing with his two seemingly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, who is the god of time and space, and Murmur, the god's servant. Revealing himself to be an actual entity, Deus grants Yukiteru a "Random Diary," which shows highly descriptive entries based on the future and forces him into a bloody battle royale with 11 other holders of similarly powerful future diaries.

I have no word on this.

Owari no Seraph

With the appearance of a mysterious virus that kills everyone above the age of 13, mankind becomes enslaved by previously hidden, power-hungry vampires who emerge in order to subjugate society with the promise of protecting the survivors, in exchange for donations of their blood.

The Apocolypse starts and vampires rule the world. I dunno if that sounds like heaven or hell for me? But in this world, it would certainly be hell. Vampires rule the world but that doesn't mean the humans are gone. An army rises to protect what’s left from the bloodsuckers. And did I mention demons? Along with the concept of corrupt angels? Oh yeah, that’s gotta be hell on earth.

Pandora Hearts

To young Oz Vessalius, heir to the Vessalius Duke House, the perilous world called the Abyss is nothing more than a folktale used to scare misbehaving children. However, when Oz's coming-of-age ceremony is interrupted by the malicious Baskerville Clan intent on banishing him into the depths of the Abyss, the Vessalius heir realizes that his peaceful life of luxury is at its end. Now, he must confront the world of the Abyss and its dwellers, the monstrous "Chains," which are both not quite as fake as he once believed.

I couldn't have found a better gif for this anime. It’s Alice in Wonderland inspired but with a much darker twist than what Disney gave us (and yes I do mean both the original and the Tim Burton version). Enjoy this one because it’s not all dark there is humor to break up the heart-wrenching. But don’t expect it to always be comical. 

Phantom in the Twilight

Set in modern-day London, the story takes place in a world where "Shadows" are born from human fear and anxiety. A young girl arrives to study abroad, only to be caught in a bizarre incident as she enters university. In a city with no acquaintances, the helpless girl wanders into "Café Forbidden," a mysterious café that exclusively opens at midnight. She meets an assortment of handsome men employed at the café, where guardians who protect the boundary between humans and shadow convene

Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and even demons; this one would be great for Halloween. I will admit though, it’s lackluster considering these guys are supposed to be Dracula, the Wolfman, and so on. It might be someone’s cup of tea, just not everyone’s 

Rosario to Vampire

Youkai Academy is a seemingly normal boarding school, except that its pupils are monsters learning to coexist with humans. All students attend in human form and take normal academic subjects, such as literature, gym, foreign language, and mathematics. However, there is one golden rule at Youkai Academy—all humans found on school grounds are to be executed immediately!

I couldn’t get through this one. I’m not gonna lie. It was basically light hentai and I’m not into that kinda stuff, but I feel like someone would have called me out for it not being here so T-T

Servamp 

Mahiru Shirota firmly believes that simple is best and troublesome things should be avoided at all costs. It is troublesome to do nothing and regret it later—and this ideology has led the 15-year-old to pick up a stray cat on his way home from school. As he affectionately names the feline Kuro, little does he know that this chance meeting will spark an extraordinary change in his everyday life.

I’m gonna be completely honest, the manga was better. I love the anime don’t get me wrong. I’ve rewatched it many times. But it cut out so much from the manga. So as an anime, watch it first before reading the manga, then go back and nitpick. If you do it the other way around you may be more disappointed.

Soul Eater

Death City is home to the famous Death Weapon Meister Academy, a technical academy headed by the Shinigami—Lord Death himself. Its mission: to raise "Death Scythes" for the Shinigami to wield against the many evils of their fantastical world. These Death Scythes, however, are not made from physical weapons; rather, they are born from human hybrids who have the ability to transform their bodies into Demon Weapons, and only after they have consumed the souls of 99 evil beings and one witch's soul. This one is perfect for Halloween with it’s dark but funny themes. If you prefer the cutesier stuff like I do sometimes try Soul Eater NOT! The concept of soul-eating monsters and a school that teaches teens to fight and destroy them, A+ content. This one is mainstream for a reason. It’s a good story, anime or manga. Mainly manga. Anyway, I haven’t seen Re yet, but I’ve heard it’s sheit. Still gonna watch it though cause why the hell not.

Reincarnation from a girl to a boy and the girl had a hot lover that is now with her male reincarnation. And the lover is a vampire. Man, that’s confusing but the story is good. I have yet to read the manga. The anime was great from what I can remember, so give it a shot. It’s another BL anime, so proceed with caution.

Vampire Knight

Cross Academy is an elite boarding school with two separate, isolated classes: the Day Class and the Night Class. On the surface, Yuuki Cross and Zero Kiryuu are prefects of the academy and attempt to keep order between the students as classes rotate in the evenings. As the Night Class is full of utterly gorgeous elites, this can sometimes prove to be a bit difficult. It is completely necessary, however, as those "elites" are actually vampires. Yuuki and Zero act as guardians, protecting the secrets of the Night Class and the safety of their ignorant morning counterparts.

If twilight was an anime, but Bella and Edward were siblings and Jacob was another vampire. This is not a great anime but let's face it, some of us watched it as preteens, enjoyed it, and were head over heels for Zero and/or Kaname. It’s a trash anime, but great for those who are 21 and over. Do I hear drinking games, anyone?

- I'm assuming you mean fandom hell, because boy am I stuck in this one (I really want out). Longest one would probably have to be Code: Realize cause even though I don't show as much as before, I have a Ton of wips in the form of several stories that I'm still working on.

- I only have one! A Carla Plush er, well two if you count a CD of Dark Fate. Was never really interested in any of the merch cause it was usually just the Sakamaki's that I would see and honestly, none of them hold my interest enough for me to buy and otherwise, I don't really find much merch to get.

- Again assuming fandoms, I've been in a lot before since way back in middle school and probably still stuck in to this day. I'll just list a few that I'm currently trapped in number 1 unfortunately being :-Diabolik Lovers (playing through the games certainly brings you in and apparently the games don't know when to stop.)-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure-Attack on Titan-Literally every other otome game I've played.

For Diabolik Lovers, I ship you with Ruki Mukami!

Ah, the prestigious (L/N) family. A family whose name was known worldwide through the production of formal wear along with engagement rings since the start of the early 1800’s. As of now, the company is being run by the great (F/N) along with his wife and daughter. Not much after his firstborn daughter was born, he arranged a marriage between her and the firstborn of a close friend of his. Since then, the (L/N) and Kizoku family have been closely knit and have been at each other's sides during another’s downfall

The young boy was indeed a child of high intellect however he was corrupt. He was extremely bratty, spoiled and believed he was the God that the servants must come to terms to his every beck and call. He believed that he had the right to berate them for being in such a low-ranking position. Hardly anyone understood how such an impudent child was born from such a kind man accompanied by his humble wife. Their son became sadistic and wallowed in the bliss of seeing the servants’ annoyance and misfortunes.

Unlike the boy, the brunette girl was nothing but kind. Unlike her betrothed, her parents paid no mind to her. She was simply a vessel to carry out the family business. Even if she were to fail, she had a replacement ready, the second child and firstborn son. Unlike the cynical and pompous male, she cared for the servants both in her and his manor and treated them with respect. They were nearly polar opposites and yet they managed to get along. The occasional outbursts of her fiancé would certainly startle her at times however, he would apologise, albeit hesitantly, with a flustered look along with a blush adorning his soft cheeks. All was well.

Until one night.

The young boy’s manor was ransacked by his servants. He looked for his parents, hoping that they would put a stop to them and yet he could not find them. Before he could wander too far to look for them, he was immediately pushed down by his old servants as they beat him senselessly. He screamed in pain and called out for his parents to come for him. He whined and whined until his throat was sore from screaming, his tear-stained cheeks red from crying so hard until he fainted.

Once he was brought back to consciousness, he looked for his parents only to be greeted by the hanging corpse of his father in the garden and a letter from his mother stating that she ran away with her lover and that she still loved him. How could she say that? She left him and his father and yet she still has the gall to state that she loves him? What a preposterous notion. And what about (Y/n)? Where was she? She promised that she would stay by his side, no matter what may come. So where was she? It was childish and selfish of him to turn his back on the brunette girl once he thought about it, however he was too overwhelmed with the flow of what happened, he was pissed. And he wouldn not be forgiving her anytime soon.

Little did he know.

His fiancée was in an equally not so ideal situation. Her father was drunk and was caught by her mother in the process of sleeping with another woman. Her mother, caught up in so much stress from the ideals of the company, the paparazzi, and the pressure of being a mother and a perfect woman, had decided to kill herself. She went to the balcony of the chambers that held most of her jewellery and threw herself off. Once her father had finished from his activities, he proceeded to berate his eldest child. He screamed, cussed, and even abused her. In his drunken state, he poured out his true opinions towards his life, his slutty wife, and his mistake of a daughter. She attempted to stop him which only fuelled her father’s anger. In a fit of rage, he kicked her out of her own home. She hit her tiny fists onto the rose oak doors and yet it didn’t open. She roamed the streets and was made fun of other nobles that were were in the vicinity and mistook her for another street rat. She winced and was suddenly reminded of her fiancé, Ruki. What would he think of her now? He did not seem to enjoy her presence very much in the first place, so how would he react now? Is he alright? Is he eating well? Is he lonely? Is he still reading one of his books again? She thought about him. Even when she was on the street with no sign of anyone who would care for her, no sign of anyone to give her shelter nor food, she worried about him. She wished she was alright.

A few months after wishing for someone to take care of her, she realised that she needed to act. She understood perfectly that no one would come to her aid anytime soon and so she stole food from the stalls, she did what she could to survive is all. She got caught multiple times and was hit mercilessly and yet she didn’t stop. She came across another child like her, a dark-haired boy that reminded her so much of her fiancé, curled up tight in front of a stall with 3 kids bothering and berating him. A boy accompanied by two girls. You felt pity and anger. Pity towards the younger boy who must have done nothing to deserve such treatment and anger towards the children who would bother someone they thought was inferior to them. The brunette put on a strong and cold facade and approached them immediately.

“I take that would be enough. What even is the meaning of this? Don’t act like such children.” You commented whilst staying on guard in front of the frail-looking dark-haired boy. “Ey look Melissa! It’s one of ‘em kids actin’ like a noble! Let’s beat ‘em up as well!” The lone male said however you acted quickly. As a thief, you managed to learn from your mistakes and become more agile and alert. You took the “leader” down in a flash and sent a glare to the remaining two. The girls scurried away quickly, the other helping the limping “Justin” as they retreated and muttered under their breaths.

“Why...did you...help me?” You turned around to see the boy on the ground. You shook your head and extended your arm towards him. He took it hesitantly and got up. “Anyone would have done similar. It’s called being a decent person. Anyone who merely spectated isn’t much of a person.” You fixed your skirt, that had sustained a considerable amount of patches from the number of times it tore apart and walked away. “Please...may I...stay with you..?” He asked pitifully. You thought about it. In all honesty, you were going insane without conversing with anyone. You were simply trapped with your own thoughts that weren’t so pleasant. You weighed out the pros and cons of the situation at hand and decided to have him accompany you. He smiled, although faintly, and followed you.

You had taken him under your care as the two of you would steal bread from stalls to survive in the cruel world. Whenever Azusa was caught, you had took it upon yourself to absorb the blows directed towards him. In the end, you two would still have your bread as the smaller child apologised repeatedly. You forgave him instantly and explained to him that you meant to do that. And you would gladly do it for him again. Everything was fine until one day, you didn’t have the strength to defend him as you were overpowered by the store owner and the police. You were knocked out along with him and was sent to the orphanage.

You didn’t quite meet him immediately. It was already a few weeks in when you saw him.

Life in the orphanage was absolute hell. For sure, none of the children that flooded the vicinity ever dreamed of being in such a place but at least they had shelter. Those who thought they were more superior, however, thought that it would be alright to abuse those who seemed below them. The short-haired brunette along with Azusa had various encounters with such children. They couldn’t bear it any longer. You would catch most of the blows that were sent in your direction in order to protect the little boy you took into your care. The beatings wouldn’t stop until a saviour decided to tag along with you two.

A boy that seemed to be taller than the rest of the kids stood up for the both of you. The boy’s name was Yuma and he acted almost like a rabid dog as he barked insults at them along with his fairly long hair that was kept in a bun. He told them to ‘get lost’ and they did. He told you that they would never bother you and was the first to have treated you both with kindness. You found hope and smiled at him. You asked if he had a group that he was with and he told you that he had two other friends. You inquired if it would’ve been a bother to tag along with them and he shook his head.

He brought you to a corner where another dark-haired boy resided, reading his book and a blonde that was chatting with him. Your breath got caught in your throat as the boy seemed familiar. “Oi, Ruki! Kou! You think it would be fine to let them tag along?” Yuma asked. The young boy brought his nose up from his book to look towards the ‘newcomers’. When he saw you, his world stopped. His book dropped along with his eyes that were downcasted on to the floor. ‘What is she doing here? I thought she would’ve been alright. What happened? Where was she? Had she been in the slums the entire time?’ Thoughts flooded his head. His breathing went slightly ragged as he got up and stood in front of you. He was only slightly taller than you and yet you still felt intimidated. He seemed so...hollow. As if the boy that was so passionate about books and horses had somehow disappeared and only left behind an empty shell. The young boy looked into your eyes and bowed his head.

“I’m sorry.” Was all he said as he started to shake slightly. You took him into your embrace and patted his back lightly, as you did before when he was disappointed he couldn’t do what he wanted. “Why are you apologising?” “I wasn’t there to help you.” “And I wasn’t there to help you, so we’re even.”

You introduced Azusa to the group and they immediately welcomed him, along with you. The three decided not to question your history with the eldest and would instead inquire about somewhere in the future instead. The boys helped patch him up and he looked at them in awe. He looked at you and them and he thanked all of you for taking care of him.

Soon after, the five of you stuck together like glue. Constantly having each others’ backs and eating together. Almost like a family. You and Ruki had taught them how to read and educated them a little, they liked the idea of having the pair care for them. As if they had their parents that would guide and care for them. They had their fights that weren’t resolved quickly however in the end, they stayed as one. The group had devised a plan to escape their hell and would leave to find a place somewhere. Anywhere, as long as they weren’t where they were now.

Unfortunately, they were hunted down. They were shot down by the owners of the orphanage. The three boys were shot while the pair that was bound together were kept aside to toy with. Ruki was branded by them whilst the brunette was harassed. The both of them could not do anything to help each other. The pair screamed like that night they were abused and sent into the streets. They haven’t shouted like this in so long and they didn’t plan to ever again.

Once they came to, the brunette immediately hugged her fiancé, holding what remained of her torn rags together as she shielded her body from the boy and sobbed on his shoulder. The ex-aristocrat held her tightly and apologised repeatedly for his incomeptence. They both wondered where the rest were but they could barely move an inch and felt as if they would simply perish here. That was until he showed up.

He gave you both a deal. He would allow you and the rest to reborn as vampires, however, they would have to partake in a certain project of his. Out of desperation and hope for a new life, they had agreed. The five of them reunited and the long-haired gentleman offered them a mansion to live in. They were indebted to him and they were sure to be of good use to that project of his.

They continued where they had left off. The pair had become the leaders or rather the “parents” of the group and had educated and aided them as they’ve had before. The pair had taught them everything they needed to know in order to survive. They grew up in the household, did activities together and had even assigned rooms in order to keep each other’s privacy. As the group matured, they had become more close. More like a family. They had remembered the plan their saviour had informed them of and as the day of Eve’s arrival neared, they became more and more prepared.

You honestly didn’t know why you were needed. You assumed you were merely kept since it seemed as if you were important to the group, you served as their anchor. That man had deemed it necessary for you to be a part of their kind to stabilize them. And you had. As they started to mature, they had become much more head-strong and act before thinking. They became reckless and would cause chaos in the mansion however you were there. They all loved you. You were the one constant that kept them from fully turning into the monsters they truly were. You gave them a sense of humanity that they needed.

One night, you were preparing for dinner, like you had most of the time, to welcome Eve. The brothers had successfully returned her to the mansion and you found it necessary to keep her healthy. Despite the brothers becoming harsher, you maintained a strong sense of humanity. Surely you were slightly jealous of the attention she had gotten merely hours ago and yet you wanted to care for her. You made sure that it had everything she needed to intake to keep her body stable.

You felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist as you cooked and flinched a bit. You weren’t expecting company. Their head had made their way to rest on your shoulder as they inhaled your scent and exhaled deeply, slowly. A familiar scent filled your senses as you and the figure relaxed. You kissed his temple as his face was resting on your exposed shoulder, and focused back on the stove. You had the habit of kissing the brothers’ forehead as a term of endearment or affection. You took care of them of course, and you treated them like you would your future children. Most of them were younger than you so had found it only fitting to do so. Like a mother that loved her children so dearly.

The figure behind you moaned slightly from the pressure of your lips on his face. He kissed your shoulder in return as you continued to cook. He informed you of their plan and what was to happen. You hummed in response in between intervals to indicate you were listening to everything he said. He then detached himself from your body to admire your form from a slight distance. You sighed silently at the loss of contact but dismissed the notion quickly. “Is there anything I can help with?” Ruki asked and you motioned to the raw prawns on the other side of the counter. “You know how Kou is with food. I made a batch prior but I’m not sure if that’ll last long on the table.” The female giggled as her partner merely chuckled slightly, the latter proceeded to bread the prawns.

While Ruki was preparing the second batch, you went ahead and prepared the table with the first, a some salad and soup. You arranged the plates and added an extra plate for the guest in your household. At times like this, it really felt like a family. A family that almost neither of you had. The rest of the brothers don’t even remember their memories with their parents, let alone their mother and yet you filled up that role in their hearts just fine. You smiled to yourself and halted your movement. You thought that perhaps you should sit this dinner out. Surely they would want to discuss certain confidential matters with Eve. You removed one plate from the table and decided to let her sit on your seat.

Almost as soon as you disappeared, the brothers, excluding the one who was cooking, started pouring into the dining room. You checked in, told them you wouldn’t be eating tonight and excused yourself. They questioned it but understood your reasoning. They bid you a good night as you went back to your room. You knocked on the guest’s door and opened it when you received no response. You saw that she was still unconscious. You saw the bite marks on her neck and sighed. You touched them and they seemed to have belonged to the eldest Mukami. You checked her body temperature which seemed to have been cooler in comparison to her feverish state when you changed her earlier. That was good. You left a small note stating to go to the dining hall once she had recovered and that she should be careful.

You returned to your own quarters and sat silently. You felt..what word would be appropriate? Disappointed? Betrayed? Jealous? Is it not alright for a woman to worry about her fiancé? You felt guilty. This was all to pay back the man that has saved you from death and greeted you with a smile. How can you feel this way? It was selfish on your behalf, you thought, however it was most certainly not your fault that you seem to have fallen in love with your betrothed. But what if he wants to become Adam? And who were you to stand in his way? Simply having him by your side would be enough. Even if it was not how you imagined it, you must support him along with the rest of his brothers.

You supported them throughout the course of Yui’s stay and you would be the one to patch her up while she was unconscious. You’ve had brief encounters with her when she was conscious and she was surprised to see a feminine face. She asked who you were and you were quick to dispel any of her worries. You simply told her that you have been taking care of her since her stay and she immediately thanked you for your kindness. She was a sweet and caring girl. She was so..human. Something you’ve missed. She reminded you so much of yourself that you started to worry. What if she were to take your place? You weren’t the type to be so shaken by another’s “rivalling” presence since you never had to but you couldn’t help it. You kept your conversations to a bare minimum. Who knows? Perhaps the brothers did not want her to talk to you.

You still talked and took care of the other brothers and yet you couldn’t seem to look at Ruki as much. Why did it matter to you so much? All of them have surely bitten her at some point, hell, even you were tempted to however held back. Were you overthinking it? He also seemed to distance himself from you, why? Was it because you were no longer interesting? Was it because she was much more lively and caring than you? Perhaps he no longer wanted to deal with a secondhand person now that he had someone much purer in every context in his midst. The thought alone terrified you to the point your heart felt so heavy, you couldn’t breathe. Such thoughts would always plague your mind when you were alone, which nowadays seem to be almost all the time.

Nevertheless, you continued your duties as a part of this family. You took care of Azusa’s bandages, helped with the garden, and critiqued Kou’s performance power.

However, there was this one time. It seemed as if the eldest’s scar had been feeling rather irritating. You knocked on the door and entered, not realising he was in the room. You had washed the towels and have come to return his. Instead, you were greeted with his bareback. His scars more sickening than how you remembered it. You haven’t seen it and did not wish to see it again as it will only remind you of the time you had not been there for him. “Entering a room without receiving a response is quite rude, now isn’t it (y/n)?” He commented with a small smirk as he took the towel from your arms. “I didn’t think you would be in your room.” You answered quietly and offered to help disinfect his scars, silence resonated within his room signalling his contemplation. They didn’t look nice at all but you wanted to help. He gave in eventually and allowed you to sit on his bed. You admired his back and stared at his broad shoulders. His slightly muscular build made you blush, dirty thoughts invading your mind. You quickly dismissed them and started to do your job.

Once you had finished, you let your fingers linger on his back. His skin was so smooth, a contrast to the rough marks. You couldn’t help but feel guilty. You were there. Right in front of him and yet you didn’t do anything. Yes, you were in an equally traumatising situation at that time however what happened to you would not leave any marks as they had on him. You sighed and kissed his scars.

You heard his breath hitch in surprise however he didn’t make a move to stop you. He simply basked in the bliss of feeling your affection, the affection he had forgotten after he had obsessed over repaying his debt to him. It was nothing, in all honesty, and yet simply feeling your lips on his body shook him to his bones. It was so innocent and yet so...intimate. They were only gentle pecks on his back and yet he felt so filthy to be receiving such gestures that held a pure intention. It was something he had never dreamed of experiencing and yet he felt as if he had craved such contact from you. He felt special. You made him feel wanted despite knowing who he was. It wasn’t like him to feel so vulnerable around anyone and yet he felt so at ease around you. Perhaps you were given special abilities to calm the soul? You welcomed his flaws with open arms and wanted to see past his horrbible attitude. He stifled a moan as he felt your hand shift towards his shoulders to grip them slightly, Your hand remained stationary on the upper sides of his arm. He held your hand and only the had you realised what you had done.

“I’m sorry. It wasn’t in my place to that! And I’m sorry. For not being to stop them from doing this to you.” You clenched your hands together and shut your eyes. You had expected to be kicked out of his room like you had a few times the days prior. You felt his hand rest upon your fists and his lips on your forehead. “It is in your place to do that. It may have been long ago, however you are still my betrothed. As for what happened that night-“ he stopped as he stood up and pushed you onto his bed to lay flat. You fell with a plop and an almost inaudible gasp left your lips. He crawled atop of you and smirked. He had you in his arms and he did not intend to let you out of his reach nor sight anytime soon. He had wanted this for so long and yet he never acted upon his urges. He was too focused on the expectations of their saviour that he had stopped himself from doing anything. Naturally, he wouldn’t let this opportunity slide. “Words are merely empty promises, you should act accordingly. Would you like to show me how truly sorry you are?” He said before crashing his lips on to yours. He wanted to be gentle with you. After all, you deserved only the best and the memory of you crying out for help on that night that you had been assaulted plagued his mind more than the origins of his own scars. In time, his scars will heal however he wasn’t sure if he could heal yours too, therefore he’ll go as slow as he can possibly be. Ensuring only comfort for you. He kissed your neck as you choked on your voice, failing in your attempt to stifle your moans. He chuckled darkly and looked in to your eyes, finding the depths of your souls to become one with his before your bodies were bound together.

The night was still young however it felt as if it wouldn’t be by the time you two were to finish. What may come after tonight the two of you will deal with after. For now, you focused only on each other.
