A papercraft commission of Galo and Lio from the incredibly fabulous cinematic experience Promare!!! I love the moviemakers' decision that Lio can just Make Physical Objects Out Of Fire, which means that in this piece, he has created a tiny fire matoi to match Galo's big matoi. 🔥 I used holographic papers for the fire, which means it shines when viewed in person!

that one specific brand of ‘promare criticism’ of galo and lios romance could be wiped from the face of the earth and we’d never have to deal with it if ppl actually paid attention to the basic plot points of the movie and stopped pretending galo was a fucking cop and there was any sort of ‘lio getting w his oppressor’ going on like oh my god did we watch the same movie. trigger went so out of their way to stress that that was super not happening and galo and lio didn’t share Every experience and identity w each other (that tends to happen with relationships!) but were still equals and respected each other as such and galo was very explicitly a Rescue Worker and they made an entire group of actual cops for him and his coworkers to on screen hate and get in fights with and ppl still intentionally pretended otherwise like dude this criticism is just you being stupid and wrong about the movie it isn’t legitimate you’re just WRONG. movie about solidarity with people who aren’t exactly like you and experience oppression u don’t is bad bcuz how r we to know if galo was helping lio and working w the burnish to dismantle the fascist government using marginalized people as rocket fuel for the right reasons.. kinda faux allyship. kinda seems like a white savior situation :/ with the ASIAN MAN.

I cannot ever shut up about the impact of sound design on visual storytelling because every single time "Inferno" starts playing in this scene, I experience the most sincere, ecstatic tears. The story is already fantastic, but the music just punches me in the heart.

And by the time it gets to Lio watching the last of the Promare leaving him,

they've transitioned into this softened instrumental of the song, and it elevates his stunned, almost wistful emotions so beautifully.

Just! Y'know! I have so many feelings about the importance of music. It just connects to something primal in us, I feel, and I hope it gets more appreciation when it's done well.
