I believe these are the last of the designs that will try to follow the original design as best as it can because looking at my sketches right now, Alastor, Cherri Bomb, and Pentious (and Crymini) goes a different direction than their counterparts.

My issues with their Original designs:

Niffty:

Man, I only have two things to critique about this one since she's also a solid design:

What is the purpose of the scarf? It comes out of nowhere for the design, what is the connection/purpose of having it? Genuinely asking since it does bother me a bit.

She barely is a bug, there is no feature in the design that gives us any idea that she might be a bug (Or even an alien since apparently Cyclops are just a normal sinner type in this hell). Looking at the Wiki, I think the only reason for the alien aspect is that it came from a song? Either way, she doesn't showcase any of either in her design.

Husk:

GOD THE WINGS. DEAR GOD THE WINGS. IT'S SO UGLY AND CLUTTERED AND THE PATTERNS BARELY MAKE ANY SENSE. It's so awful ewwww. Every scene that didn't have them closed looked extremely rushed and ugly. It could've benefitted from just copying how actual feathered wing patterns naturally are.

His eyebrows are not a problem for me (It's my favourite part of him) but the unnecessary two black stripes are.

He's probably supposed to be a tuxedo cat, but he legitamately looks like the cat in the hat with his entire face being white.

The thought process for these two:

Niffty:

Personally was not into the whole Cyclops thing, especially when there are no hellborns (that I can recall at least) in Helluva Boss that posess a singular eye. She's got 2 eyes now because.... reasons.

The mismatched eyes was my solution to removing the Cyclops sinners of this world. Plus it's a neat little character detail that her insecurity of some kind of eye defect manifests as this odd eye shape.

Her hair is a bit neater because as much as I enjoyed how her original hair looks, It's kind of silly to think a person who's obsessed with cleanliness would have such an unkempt haircut? (Specifically talking about that scene kid-esque bangs she has.)

While I kept the maid aspect with her clothes, I made it a lot more flowery so that it reads more like a child's outfit mimicing a maid's.

I gave her one fucked up antennae since in the rewrite ill be doing, she's very easily lost and thus became homeless, drifting to any place that would allow her to stay for a little while long until they kick her out.

Bug wings and the spurs on her arms and legs are just to sell the bug aspect a bit more.

Hopefully, it was clear enough. But her arms are made of two arms conjoined together to create a singular arm.

Admittedly, I did not choose a specific bug for Niffty. Insects are not something I'm interested in and I got lazy with this aspect.

Husk:

MADE HIM A LOT FATTER AHAHAHAHHA. Husk feels like he could've ended up as a bara if Vivzie's twinkif-y ray didn't hit him.

Specific fluff areas as well as a red mustache make him look older and do more to make you understand he's much more aged than the rest of the cast.

Genuinely enjoyed the hair that they gave Husk in his flashback, it looked handsome on him. Why Vivzie didn't put that in his actual redesign is beyond me, but here it is on him now

Since his wings barely play any role in the story, I shrunk it and de-cluttered the poor thing.

The red suspenders are there to simply put a pop of color on his already muted colors.

Despite the running joke that Vivzie's characters all have a bowtie, kept it on Husk since I think it would be cute that he probably keeps it on because Niffty made it herself for him.

This is just personal, but I wanted to give him an actual cat's pattern because I saw Husk from the headcanon voices video and thought that he was a sloth for some reason.

so, I was thinking of something earlier, and, I forgot to grab a screenshot of it, but, extremely incredibly minor ATSV spoiler, when Miles is being shown the holograms of the Spiderverse, another series of canon events that is shown is every Spider having some sort of Symbiote experience (as in Venom, which, I have to admit, I'm uh, not extremely knowledgeable on Spiderman lore, I've been out of the game with this series since like grade school, I used to be big on DC and TMNT and hero shit, so, yeah)

Reader is just crushing on like, some evil Eddie Brock or some bad boy with a Symbiote, and dedicated/obsessive Papá Miguel instantly recognizes when your moods and behaviors start to change, more rebellious, more moody, you're becoming a bit more assertive, but not always in the good way, you're hurting people, maybe even stealing and other petty crimes. He presses you on who you've been hanging out with because APPARENTLY you've been sneaking off your watch so you can't inherently be tracked or spied on or contacted

Some drama ass shit like, Miguel has been trying to reach you because you both have some sort of really sentimental or important date coming up, maybe the anniversary of when he first met you or your birthday or his birthday where you both were supposed to do something nice together, something that's been planned and talked about for ages, and then, this rebellion stuff begins and, the date comes and you completely ghost him, he can't find you, contact you, he's frustrated and angry but also worried because what if you're hurt? What if his baby girl is HURT 🥺 SURELY that's the ONLY reason you wouldnt show up and break your poor stressed beloved daddy's heart liks this 🥺 and he finally finds you and you're totally fine, it's just like "haha sorry 'dad' I was getting railed by my evil big tall hunky villain boyfriend and also I have a Symbiote now, look at my spooky black costume, im evil now :)" and here's Miguel like "NOOO PRINCESA 😭😱✝️", but, technically he's only able to interfere in certain ways, like, maybe he can pressure you to break up with this guy but your Symbiote is canon and whether you defeat it and get rid of it or somehow master it and befriend it like say Ghost Spider, that isn't up to him, he can only pressure you but he can't MAKE you do anything, at least, not directly

You're running around having your rebellious Evil Girl Autumn and he's trying to, you know, steer you back onto the path of righteousness and all that and the harder he tries to control you the angrier you're getting until you're even losing your temper and throwing things at him or eventually physically attacking him (to which he's forced to overpower you which, you two have sparred before but this is different and it breaks his heart). Can't sleep, just gonna summarize an old fanfic idea that I never wrote but I'm still fond of and I had a lot planned. Simurgh attacks instead of Leviathan, the entire fic takes place in the quarantine zone.

It was gonna be sort of shuffling around points of view to show all the people affected, but the main character would be Lisa who would second trigger after Coil's base collapsed and killed Dinah, which led to Taylor blaming herself and attempting suicide. Her new power would essentially take away her ability to analyze anything but people, but now she can tell pretty much everything about someone and figure out how to get them to do what she wants. She manages to save Taylor after the attempt and slowly nurses her back to health, and because she's incredibly shaken she absolutely never talks to Taylor without controlling the entire conversation with her power to have it go how she wants. Extremely overprotective, obsessed, and manipulative, which leads to Taylor being overly dependent on Lisa.

Labyrinth is also having a terrible terrible time! She was already having a bad day, and the Simurgh's song pushed her over the brink to just have no control over her powers. While they attempt to calm her down so they can get out of the city with her, Elle accidentally kills Faultline and Newter, and has a fun little mental breakdown over it. Gregor eventually calms her down and comforts her, but with the guilt over killing two of her closest friends she's constantly having worse days than she ever has, with her power's altering of space expanding to a range similar to the size of Taylor's bug control. Entire swaths of the city, unusable when she's there, while Gregor just keeps trying to help her get better because he's a lovely person.

The PRT tries to use some of Bakuda's bombs on the Simurgh when the fight starts going to shit. A direct hit turns one of her wings to glass, and it fell off her to the ground. She dodged the next bomb, telekinetically tossing it aside and boosting its trajectory with some tinkertech to send it flying out of the city. Thanks to the Simurgh, the bomb lands directly on and instantly kills the Butcher all the way over in Boston, which lets Bakuda instantly break out of the transport and make her way back to Brockton Bay for revenge (and also for the tail end of the Simurgh fight, she drives her off), even more insane and murderous than before.

The Travelers are understandably having a bit of a terrible time dealing with all this. Noelle went apeshit and forced her way out of the base, which is what led to it collapsing and killing Dinah (and Jess, who is too sane for all this), and she began touching all the capes she could find to get clones to fight the Simurgh with. She makes everything worse, although the fight was already going poorly, and now that the fight is over there's still dozens of evil clones running around locked inside the dome with everyone else. The quarantine zone is being much more tightly patrolled since the Butcher and a ton of clones are in there, so the Travelers are forced to stay there for now. Luke leaves the group pretty early, he was looking for an excuse to do that in canon anyway. They do need massive amounts of meat for Noelle, and the butchers and supermarkets run out quick, so Krouse persuades Noelle to start eating people he kills for her. I wasn't sure if he would hide the source or if Noelle would know and still get convinced to eat it, but either way it would be a bucket of fun. Mars finally musters up the will to leave the group after that, which leads Noelle to get even more deranged.

Pretty much, the two major forces in the city are Echidna and the Teeth, and they create enough chaos that people not on either side can't really just get by peacefully. Labyrinth, Gregor, Lisa, Taylor, and a few others all band together in a third group thats just trying to survive and support each other. Taylor insisted they try to help feed other people trapped in the zone and Lisa talked her into believing that was a dumb idea.

Parian stuck around in the city to try and help get her family out, and is now trapped in the increasingly violent zone when she really doesn't want to fight. Unfortunately for her, she's forced into the Teeth, who figure out she can do some wacky stuff with skin. Bakuda takes an interest in her when she realizes telekinesis plus bombs is pretty fun, occasionally threatening to die in front of her to always be in Sabah's mind. Eventually Sabah escapes the Teeth and joins Tattletale's crew, where she swears off any and all violence no matter what. Mars is also there doing the same thing, they're both just sick of capes and all it entails. They want to be normal and happy and not deal with their friends eating people or being forced to flay others. Eventually this buds into a romantic relationship, and they find genuine comfort and love in each other even with such a horrible environment. Sabah teaches Mars how to sew, and Mars teaches her how to dance, and neither of them thought they really loved those activities anymore, but when either of them watch their girlfriend learn and smile and love those things it feels like their passion for the arts has just been completely renewed. They're happy together.

So then Bakuda comes after Sabah to get her back and Mars incinerates the Butcher by accident while trying to protect her girlfriend. Woooo.

Clockblocker was trapped under some rubble he froze so it wouldn't crush him, unable to escape and forced to stay there as the song droned and his power lasted the full 10 minutes. He swore he'd rather die than let the Simurgh twist him, but he kept freezing the rubble for almost an hour until someone else trapped in the city saved him. Riddled with guilt and self loathing, he wants to be mean to Taylor but she's just kinda pathetic with how much Lisa wrapped her around her thumb so it falls flat.

Theo is getting groceries when the sirens go off and Purity just fucking leaves him behind, same trigger and power as canon. Rip bozo.

There would be a giant showdown between Butcher Sundancer and Echidna. They were best friends and both of them have been twisted by something inside them into beasts who are trying to tear each other apart. At this point with all the fighting like half the city is rubble, and Tattletale + friends are caught in the crossfire of clones and bombs and fire and are desperately trying to get out. Noelle doesn't have perfect control of her clones, and eventually one lands a lucky shot and kills Marissa. Now Echidna is the Butcher, woooo.

She gives up having reason, she's just on a rampage now. She attacks Lisa's group, and they escape but she gets Taylor inside her, eventually Lisa coordinates an attack where Ballistic launches the glassified Simurgh wing at Noelle, Theo grows a bunch of hands out of it inside her to lock it in, and Clockblocker freezes it so she cant escape without dying. I think I just liked the symbolism of it being the Simurgh's wing and I completely forgot that she can teleport now. Whoops. Doesn't matter.

Noelle escapes, and is fucking them up. All is lost, but Scion appears and stops her because like, that's what he does. He completely atomizes her. Nothing but golden light left. Even the people inside are gone, including Taylor.

Lisa loses it and goes on a five minute power-assisted rant where she verbally eviscerates Scion, says she hopes it still hurts that he's alone, says he's worthless, just destroys the little bastard in a grief induced rage. She doesn't even care that her power told her he'll kill everything one day if left alone, she just wants to take out this rage on him. Scion kills himself after 5 minutes of Lisa tearing into him, its implied this was the Simurgh's end goal or whatever, Lisa saved the universe and she doesn't give a shit, Taylor is gone.

So she does the logical thing and kidnaps Taylor's Echidna clone, ties her to a chair, and warps her mind with constant conversation with the end goal of getting her Taylor back. Her power tells her the entire time that this isn't Taylor, it's someone who looks like her but can only hate, and she doesn't give up. I think it works out for her, Contessa owes her a favor now and helps her out with getting Taylor back from something that was never her. This shit was bleak and needed a happy ending. There were even more plotlines I never touched on, I had plans for everyone who made it out of the city too, but this is long so I'm just gonna post now.

Ok I'm gonna post a lot more tmrw but tonight I gotta post spider people bc I watched spiderverse and I am obsessed. So! Apollo and Meg as Spiders!

Idea dump time:

Apollo has been spiderman (Tho he is known as Arachnida) for years. He has the classic spiderman backstory, and has been a solo act for as long as he's been fighting crime. Then Nero, who is also a supervillain named Imperious, experiments on his adopted step-daughter in an attempt to recreate Arachnida's powers. The experiment is successful, and Meg becomes a supervillain named Venenum.

Arachida and Venenum fight for months, and while Apollo has more experience, Meg has more raw power. She becomes his greatest challenge, and he often comes close to death whenever he battles with Imperious and his soldiers. However, things change when Apollo runs into Meg when they are both out of costume. Meg explains her situation and asks Apollo to help her escape her step-father. He does, and now the two fight back against Imperious as the duo Arachnida and The Thorned Spider.

Now some fun little headcanons!

Both Apollo and Meg were bitten by wolf spiders! Apollo by a spotted wolf spider and Meg by a rabid wolf spider. Wolf spiders actually don't make webs, and instead burrow and rush their prey. So instead of swinging around, Apollo and Meg just do EXTREME PARKOUR, and they have a haven under hell's kitchen that they use to keep track of crime in the city.

Apollo has headphones on his suit that he uses to better his hearing. When he was bit by the spider, things like his sight and touch improved greatly, but his hearing got a lot worse. This is because wolf spiders (and I think most spiders?) don't have ears, and only hear through vibrations through the ground. Airborne sounds can be hard for them to pick up. Apollo fixed this by making headphones that picked up and amplified any nearby sounds, while filtering through any unnecessary chatter. He also just listens to music a lot lol.

Meg's suit is very rudimentary, as it was all made after she left Nero's household. The only thing she kept were her gloves, which have retractable blades in them. These gloves were made for her by Lu. Meg also has goggles because unlike Apollo, her vision sucks and she hates wearing contacts.

Apollo is a huge worrywart. Despite the fact that Meg is an extremely powerful superchild, Apollo will spam her with texts the moment their separated for five minutes. Sometimes Meg just hang under roofs so that she can get a second alone.

Apollo's father is also a supervillain, but Apollo doesn't know it. Nero and Zeus have actually been working together for years, and they have some plans that will not be fun for our spider-duo ...

Meg's "Uncle Ben" moment was the death of his father. In contrast, Apollo has had a "Gwen Stacy" moment, which was the death of his boyfriend, Hyacinthus.

They are spidersiblings and awesome and kickass.

this person has some repressed emotions that they may be hesitant to express to you, pile two. they are a very intuitive person, but maybe they're doubting their intuition when it comes to you? if you're uninterested in this person, then i supposed their intuition is right, lol. this person cared about you very much. they're practicing self-love at the moment, which could be another reason why they keep their feelings to themselves. even if this person has admitted that they like you, i feel like there's wayyyyy more that they have yet to tell you. i feel like this person may have manifested you into their life unintentionally by focusing on themselves. they definitely view you as a new something for themselves, but i'm seeing that they have been hurt and possibly even abandoned in the past, so they're not going to rush into anything too soon. they may have a hard time trusting people because of a break up they've had. they're possibly even turning away from this connection with you, pile two. they're scared to accept love in again, and they're scared to give love again. but their intuition is telling them that you're what they've been wishing for; you're the end of the painful cycle and the beginning of a loving one. they are going to need to get out of this fear they have if they're going to be with you, pile two. there's a lot that they keep hidden now and it has to do with their compassion and love for you. they may see that other people are romantically interested in you as well, which may make them feel already defeated in the connection. they could've been cheated on and now that's their worst fear with new connections. "rejection is redirection" even if you don't want them, they feel like they can finally stop wishing they told you and get a final answer; although they really hope you don't reject them. i do feel like this person is going to wait a bit (if they haven't waited already) to do this because they want to look for happiness within. they may feel like something in their life is missing and they don't want to rely on you or anyone else to fill that void for them. i feel like some sort of conflict will trigger clarity in this person's mind. could be a conflict with you or a conflict with someone/something else. this conflict took a lot of strength for this person, i'm seeing. once they get over whatever this is, it's go time. i feel like this person was in a really foggy state of mind and was just genuinely confused about who they want to be, where they want to go, who they want to be with, etc etc. but once they get everything figured out, they're going to move towards you quickly, pile three. and by quick, i mean quick. i would be lying if i said i don't think this person is scared to be rejected by you, though. this is honestly one of their biggest fears at the moment, and if you do reject them, this could be the "conflict" that makes them get out of this confusing energy they're in. they worry that you are going to treat them like another option and easily disregard them like you do the rest of your options (according to them.) they don't have a lot of faith that you'll be into them, but they may try anyways. their energy fluctuates a lot, so i'm sorry if this pile was a bit confusing to read. that honestly just shows how all over the place this person is. one minute they feel confident, the next, not so much.

hi anon <333 okay so uhhhh listen when i got this ask which i think was... a month ago? a couple months ago? i did not have a dick & tim reading guide

BUT i read this ask and i thought WOW WHAT A GOOD IDEA, a dick & tim reading guide, i wish i'd had one of those when i started reading!! and also i had a lot of work that i didn't want to do so i needed a project to procrastinate on dsfdsfs

so i have been working on a reading guide spreadsheet and it is ALMOST DONE so i will post it soon-ish. <3 if anyone wants to check out the unfinished version and tell me if it's readable dm me <3

also below i have rambled a lot about the makings of the spreadsheet if you also like spreadsheets a lot

this is only sort of tangentially related to the reading guide but it is the SECRET ORIGIN of the reading guide. i think many comic fans eventually end up with a spreadsheet story because comics are bonkers and difficult to keep track of, so either you sensibly engage with your hobby in a reasonable fashion or you slowly go bonkers yourself and end up with a spreadsheet story. this one is mine.

so a year or two ago, when i got first got deeply deeply obsessed with dick & tim, i was desperate for content and i wasn't able to find much on tumblr

so out of a combination of deep affection for the boys and also an extremely strong desire to procrastinate the things i was supposed to be doing, i went through dc.fandom's list of dick's appearances and of tim's appearances.

and i cross-referenced them all to find the comics they both appeared in, and then i started kinda randomly reading through those comics looking for good art/panels that they both appeared in and taking notes on whether they appeared in the same panel or not:

and then as i became even more obsessive i started adding in a bunch of their solo appearances so i'd know the context of their team-ups, and i started color-coding blue-for-nightwing, red-for-robin, purple-for-both-of-them:

and then i started trying to make lists of Significant Events so that i'd know e.g. when characters died or got married or broke up:

and then i got tired of having to search for dc.fandom pages every time i wanted to check something in a comic, so i started adding links to dc.fandom and to dc universe:

and i started thinking, okay, is there any way to take my spreadsheet and make it slightly less convoluted and a bit more like a reading guide?

and the answer was, probably not!!! but that did not stop me from trying sdfdsfds

anyway then i looked at all of that and thought ehhhhh okay but that's very complicated!! maybe i need some shorter reading recommendations. so then i started making a list of those:

I know sjm puts her characters through a lot before setting them up in relationships, but I feel like with everything Lucien and Gwyn have gone through, she won't make them suffer an e/riel affair too just for added "drama". Plus she already did this to an extent with Rhys and Cassian that it just feels needless to me? With everyone knowing El and Luc are mates, making him deal with THIS to boot just feels like a bridge too far to me when there are so many other interesting ways for Elucien to end up together.

Say for arguments sake E/riel is happening.

I truly, with 100% conviction do not think Gwyn would be drug into their situation in any way that would be harmful to her. There is no chance that SJM is going to take Nesta's new found friend and put her in the middle of a love triangle with her sister and her mates best friend. That is a recipe for disaster beyond just Gwyn, Elain and Az.

It would be extremely odd for SJM to backtrack on something sparking in Az's chest for Gwyn and I do think she shows curiosity / flirtation towards him so SJM would have to twist that a bit but, I don't think as of SF Az or Gwyn are too deep in terms of their feelings for one another. Which is a GOOD thing because he's clearly not 100% over Mor and he's really messed up in the head about not getting a mating bond like his brothers so he's obsessing on Elain for the wrong reasons (or at least was through Solstice). And in SF, Gwyn just started to dip her toes into the idea of sex / dating? so it's not like she's pining for Az or is (I think) under the impression he's got a thing for her. Right now it's just playful rather than deep.

So at this point if she absolutely had to, SJM could write a new LI interest for Gwyn and I don't think Gwyn would suffer as a result. (again, completely hypothetical scenario if E/riel was happening).

But Lucien.......he already lost the female he thought was mated to (and was in love with) centuries ago. That's been a burden he's carried around for hundreds of years. Then he discovers his real mate is Elain in ACOMAF and we see the torment that causes him. First because he's trying to reign in his instincts, making him feel out of control which he rarely is. Then because it's the first time since Jesminda he's ever put emotional effort into another female. He's thinking about her, showing no interest in dalliances because of her, wanting to make sure she's safe. Then he finds out his mate is in love with / engaged to someone else which is another emotional blow. Then we see him in a room with Elain for the first time feeling bothered because he knows Elain wants to go back to Graysen (remember, he heard her tell Feyre that she wanted to go home and that Graysen would be looking for her) so he already knows she's not going to want him and can't understand how the one who did want him didn't end up being his mate. Then he looks at Elain for the first time since Hybern and suffers extreme guilt because he thinks she's the most beautiful female he'd ever seen.

And even though he knows it's not him that she wants, he stays to help her through her depression. Stays for Elain, surrounded by people who he thought were enemies and around Nesta who is nasty towards him. Then when he finally reaches out through their bond and sees / feels something that causes him to blush it changes something for him. When he volunteers to leave for Vassa, you know he doesn't want to go, he bows his head which hides the longing and sadness he has but he knows Elain needs time and he walks away so she can figure out what she wants.

He has a little bit of hope when she invites him back to Velaris after the war but something happens so that their two steps forward turned into many steps back by the time the novella rolled around (really, it seems like it was SJMs way of rebooting things so she could keep them apart until their story). He ends up staying in the human lands with Vassa and Jurian but you know it's still upsetting him that she doesn't want to interact. It's not that he doesn't want to spend time with her, it's that he's completely aware that she's been ignoring him. In SF, it's entirely possible he's also aware of the "glances" between Elain and Az, just like Cassian was aware of the fact that Nesta was sleeping with other males. But even after nearly 2 years, with first knowing that Elain was engaged to someone else, then not being ready to explore their bond then flirting with someone else, he STILL looks at her with longing.

There is no male in the series who has put that much effort into showing Elain she means something to him.

So does it honestly make any sense at all to have put Lucien through all that only to have her end up with Az?

I'm sorry but if he couldn't have the female he desperately loved because she was murdered by his father then also loses his mate to a guy who is kind of a jerk when it comes to him (like, if Az was a good guy about all this, maybe it wouldn't be so bad but he is not looking like the better male in this situation)......there is not going to be someone that makes that pain magically disappear for Lucien. If it took a mating bond for him to move on from Jesminda than what exactly is going to help him move on from a mating bond that will trail him for the rest of his life? He didn't even have a bond with Jesminda yet he struggled for hundreds of years. People really think Vassa is going to be the one that is his truest love after Jesminda's death and not getting his mate? Vassa who spends more time bickering with Jurian than paying attention to Lucien? That Vassa?

And that's just Lucien's love life! We didn't even address all the other trauma's he's got going on throughout the series.

Lucien has put in the time and the suffering. Just like Rhys did, just like Cassian did. Graysen didn't fight for Elain. He didn't pine for Elain. Az has been in love with Mor pretty much the entire time Elain has been on page with him (all those four books of buildup have consisted of him loving Mor) and then when it came down to laying out his truth, he couldn't give Rhys one decent reason why he actually wanted Elain because of who she is. And moments later, he was already curious about another female.

This sounds possessive but these are fictional characters who have no real agency outside of what the author wants them to have so I'm going to say it. Az has not earned the right to be with Elain. Lucien has though, he's put in the time and the suffering. Lucien's head has not been turned by any other female romantically (sexual or otherwise) since Elain came onto the page and he was aware of their bond. Again, he is FRIENDS with Vassa and his blush was not over any feelings for Vassa, it was embarrassment at Feyre saying what she did in front of his mate. Azriel blushed at Nesta for gods sakes.

It is SJMs thing. She likes her males to suffer once they suspect they have a bond with the female (especially the humans turned fae who are adjusting to this new world), seeing only her once they suspect there is a bond while she fights it, only to have the female finally choose them in the end.

E/riels love shouting about "Elain's choice" but I think they forget she is only 50% of this equation. It is Lucien's bond too, Lucien who would suffer with it's rejection and Lucien who SJM has been building up since book 1 (Lucien who was always supposed to end up with an Archeron but SJM was surprised to find she had the wrong one at first), Lucien who has always been one of her favorite characters, Lucien who she constantly writes about being broad, sculpted, handsome, intelligent, cunning, well mannered, well dressed, and soon to be a High Lords heir. Lucien is MMC energy full stop and MMC don't lose their mates to guys who throw a temper tantrum because they didn't get a bond like their brothers did.

Whew. Sorry about all that but I had a glass of wine and apparently I got into Lucien defense mode with alcohol. 😂

But yeah, neither Gwyn or Lucien are going to suffer because of an E/riel endgame. Since they all have main character energy, SJM is not going to write a story where any of the main characters have to suffer an unfulfilled bond because another main character ended up with someone else. She's a HEA romance author and like it or not, all the main characters are ending up with their mates. SJM already told us a well matched bond is the best it gets (at least with heterosexual couples with a heterosexual bond, it's possible an LGBQT character would happily break a hetero bond) so you can't really backtrack on that and give your main characters a regular love while having a bond with someone else that trails them forever.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Right now I'm just writing for Supergirl (and supercorp specifically). In the past I wrote a lot for Call the Midwife (Patsy x Delia, my beloveds), and I have written one small one for Strange the Dreamer, just because I had an idea that wouldn't leave me alone until I got it out.

I tend to be a bit all or nothing with fandom, so I am usually only in one at a time.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

The Hands I Used to Touch (Patsy/Delia - Call the Midwife) by a landslide. It also (briefly) had the most comments of any fic in the fandom which was very cool (it was the one I was writing for longest during the peak engagement era for the pairing, but still it is my crowning achievement as a fic writer haha)

After that Vengeance, Victory and Undying Love (Supercorp), Little Things Mean A Lot tied with A Paper Bag of Pick n Mix (both Patsy/Delia), and Storybooks and Siren Suits (also Patsy & Delia, but as children so not a romantic pairing)

5. Do you respond to comments?

Definitely! I try to respond to every comment, because they mean so much to get and I want the people taking the time to write them to know they are extremely appreciated. Also I have made some wonderful friends that way!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I am allergic to angsty endings! Angsty beginnings? Almost inevitable. Angsty middles, sure. Angsty ENDINGS? Never. So angstiest: maybe "The Static of Distance" from my Paper Bag of Pick n Mix, because they are still half a world away from each other during a threat of nuclear war. But even so it's only an angsty ending if you squint really hard.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They all have pretty unambiguously happy endings honestly, I'm not sure I could pick between them!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I've ever had hate as such. Some maybe less than whole heartedly positive responses, though most of that was when I was teasing an apparently dark character arc before a twist and making people worried about what I was up to. But see above re: all of my fics having absolutely unambiguously happy endings, so we got there eventually.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Not so far - I think the closest I have come was my wife and I writing a silly crack fic together that involved smut, but it was not at all meant to be actually sexy and we never posted it anywhere, sooo...

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Not typically, but there was A Misplaced Midwife, in which Barbara from Call the Midwife (a fairly sheltered young 1960s midwife played by Charlotte Ritchie) traded places with Hannah from Siblings (a modern day selfish, chaotic disaster human also played by Charlotte Ritchie) and how they got along in each other's lives. It was silly and crack-y but a lot of fun to write.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

The aforementioned crack fic with @cynicalrainbows but that was just for our own entertainment. She also contributed several lines/ideas to A Misplaced Midwife. I don't think I have apart from that.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

I only really have two that I've been invested enough to fic about it, and while my current all consuming obsession is Supercorp, I have only been in it for a couple of months compared to the years long love affair with Patsy/Delia that also led to me meeting my wife and many good friends. So for now, Patsy/Delia still reign supreme. We'll see if that is still the case in a few more months!

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I try to always finish my fics, but I do have one unfinished wip on my conscience, and that's Storybooks and Siren Suits. I still open it and do battle with progress now and again just in the hopes that I will manage to drag it across the finish line and put it to bed once and for all, but so far nothing doing. It remains stuck on the same chapter it has been stuck on since 2021.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oh no don't make me pay myself compliments... Angst with happy endings? That is not really so much a writing strength as just a description of the type of story I write, but shh. I guess I got a lot of compliments on characterization back in my Call the Midwife days. Whether that follows through to Supercorp remains to be seen. I like how I'm writing them, at least!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My dialogue transitions tend to be clunky, at least so I'm finding lately. Also I am a total feast or famine writer, so any kind of sensible process or schedule discipline is completely non existent.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I avoid it for the most part because I would certainly make a mess of it, though I have one or two very very brief bits here and there. I think the longest piece was a character recalling their own long distant school french, which contained deliberate mistakes the character was making that acted as excellent cover for the genuine mistakes I no doubt also made.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I'm trying to recall if I ever wrote anything as a young teenager for Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Willow/Tara, naturally), but I don't think I did, and if so it definitely stayed as tucked away in an old notebook never to see the light of day. The first proper/definite one was Call the Midwife, just after they decided it would be a good idea to hit Delia with a car and give her amnesia right at the moment she and Patsy were about to move in together.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Well right now it's Forgotten Not Forgiven for sure, because that's where my obsession is currently living.

Of all time though? Probably still The Hands I Used to Touch, because I poured everything into it at the time and it played such a big part in me finding my feet in the fandom world. No pressure to do this at all of course but tagging @cynicalrainbows @fabulousglitch, @shut-up-heather-d and @fazedlight as people I know write fic and may enjoy this if you haven't done it already. Mituna can be a problematic yandere.

He doesn't mean to half the time, it just happens due to what he's been through.

Mituna is primarily problematic because of his mood swaps.

He has a clumsy nature, which is why he wears his helmet, which means he wouldn't be successful about all of his yandere plans.

Mituna is a yandere who's very obsessed with his Matesprit.

He loves what they do and likes to follow them around.

He may even be a bit clingy with his Matesprit, not necessarily physically but in terms of always being there.

He's just happy to be around you even if his personality makes him... volatile at times.

Honestly, if Mituna hurt you in anyway it's purely by accident and he apologizes with many "I'm Sorry's" afterwards.

In canon, Mituna has brain damage due to an event we don't know.

This is what causes his erratic behavior.

There's moments he's extremely sweet and docile around you...

Then others where he's cussing and using the most vile language.

I also imagine he has tantrums often.

Like if he's jealous maybe? He plans on making it everyone's problem.

When you first meet Mituna there's a good chance he falls for you first.

(Probably literally if we're being honest-)

He takes time to warm up to you with physical affection but is all about you once he loves you.

He's probably be the one to ask for Matespritship, or if you did then he's over the moon.

Mituna tries his best to be the sweetest around you.

Honestly, when he's docile he can be really nice and excited around you.

He's just... happy with what you do and likes you around him.

Your presence keeps him docile most of the time but some conversations make him throw a fit.

His favorite number is two so maybe that's another reason he never leaves your side.

He likes the two of you together.

Mituna would freak out from jealousy the most.

If he saw you around someone else, (Hopefully not Cronus), he flips out and runs to your side.

He probably has "barking Chihuahua" moments.

I don't know how else to describe him flipping out on whoever is with you.

Mituna likes to be the center of your attention as your Matesprit.

Although you can scold him, which makes him back off since he likes to impress you-

Speaking of which! He isn't the best with it but he will do anything to impress and earn your affection.

I can imagine he frequently fails with impressing you... and being a yandere.

He's clumsy, he'd probably fail at killing someone and also fail at kidnapping at least once.

He constantly fails when trying to do cool stunts for you and is almost always falling on his face.

Although he manages to hear some sort of reaction from you and offers to try again for you.

Mituna is volatile and hard to deal with at times but he manages to calm down if you are around.

He gets so excited at the idea of his Matesprit.

You're one of the only people he allows to touch him.

The other being Latula, his previous Matesprit.

He's calm yet a bit twitchy in your arms, often nuzzling into with little excited noises.

Mituna acts like a kid at times despite his age.

It's most likely due to traumatic events but he still acts like an excited child when he sees you.

He gets so upset when others accuse him or you of not loving each other.

Sure, he may be a bit delusional with his feelings, but he knows you two must love each other!

He loves you... you must love him!

He often runs up to you with child-like happiness and would be a yandere hopelessly in love with you most of the time.

When he isn't yelling obscenities at random.

Mituna could probably harm others, intentionally or not.

Kill? Not too sure, but he'd probably hurt people over you.

He can go feral at times.

Again, if he'd do kidnapping he'd struggle at first before he got it right.

Even then he typically doesn't think of the idea.

For the most part he likes to follow you around excitedly and never leave your side.

Others will most likely stay away from you due how volatile he is around others.

For the most part, Mituna loves his Matesprit very much and likes to be part of everything you do, even if he gets himself hurt in the process... as long as it's for you!

But there is times he'll be volatile and violent to keep you to himself, be it on purpose or not. He simply can't control it.

As for the romance in ruination - the main pairing is obviously lucemond, but there will be background relationships as well.

For lucemond, I’m actually going to be mean and make it take a bit before they actually get to see each other face to face again. I want both of them to be simmering in their emotions for a while, building up their obsession and fascinating with each other; to let the strange, pulsating connection between them to fester, separate, before coming together once more.

For Aemond, those days when he thought Lucerys was dead haunt him. He had spent years with his anger and bitterness towards his nephew acting as his guiding star. It’s what he built so much of himself on, and with Lucerys so suddenly taken from the world, by his own actions…there is no satisfaction. No vindication. Instead he’s adrift, his fire all but extinguished.

But finding out Lucerys survived? That his nephew, in spite of Aemond and Vhagar and the fucking gods themselves, had clawed his way back to life? It brings that fire roaring back, a hundred times stronger than before. Lucerys is suddenly all he can think of - because it had to mean something. Aemond needed it to mean something.

And on the other side of things, Lucerys’ slow metamorphosis is directly guided by his anger towards his uncle, the rage he feels - and betrayal, a small part of him can’t help but think - since that night.

Love potions are actually one of my favorite plot devices, and the only story I have ever made that involves something similar is "The Elixir".

However... before we get to Chef Saltbaker, let's go over my rendition of love potions. This is so we can get a clear idea as to what they are, how they're used, and overall their place in the world of Cuphead.

Love potions within Inkwell Isles are actually somewhat common, but they aren't found in just your average local shop. They are small apothecaries that sell them and other special potions located a bit farther away from towns and cities. But sometimes, there are rare occasions where a shopkeeper would have a "private" stash of love potions for customers, after they've proved themselves old enough to buy them.

Unlike most depictions, love potions do not cause people to fall in love instantly with whoever they first see. It can only work effectively if a couple, or at least one of the two, drank the potion while being in the relationship they're in. In fact, stories of people using love potions to fulfill their unrequited love for another are just propaganda.

Speaking of which, love potions are relatively uncommon knowledge to a lot of people, hence the propaganda. This is usually because of pure ignorance due to the fear of the unknown. Luckily, there are licensed professionals that can educate first-timers and ask any questions they have.

Although a love potion mostly works for couples, single people can and do use it. However, this won't be as powerful as it would if they have a partner they love. The potion would, instead, work as a positive mood changer and thus create self love, which makes for a good medicine.

If someone were to take too much, then they will go into a temporary condition called "Lovesickness." Lovesickness is where the user literally goes blind with love. The symptoms include: uncontrollable giddiness, heart palpitations, shivering, hallucinations involving Cupid, romantic proses and ramblings, extreme cases of clinginess and other acts of love. These symptoms are completely non-fatal and will wear out after 12 hours.

Love potions are often used by couples to enhance their attraction for each other and set the mood for their time together. They can be used by itself or be incorporated into recipes for consumption.

He could feel his glass body quiver as a strange surge of energy rushes through his chest.

The two Danishes he had baked for himself and his beloved were meant as an anniversary gift, and so, he wanted to make them special by adding a few teaspoons from a love potion.

He had took small sips (or so he thought) to test the flavor, unknowingly creating a whirlwind of firsthand lovesickness.

His chest and stomach began to flutter, his face contorting uncontrollably into a sweet smile, his face flushing until it burned like fire, his mind becoming set on one thing and one thing alone: you.

You were just coming back from the farmer's market to pick up more ingredients. Once you went downstairs into the kitchen, you were met with a rather unexpected display of affection.

Chef Saltbaker was certainly very affectionate; he absolutely loves you very much and wanted to show it whenever he can. But on this particular day, he was rather... Lovey-dovey.

As you were putting away the ingredients, you felt hands softly course their up from your hips to your waist. You jolted straight up from the touch, and immediately felt lips grazing up against the crook of your neck, peppering kisses all over your skin.

You turned around to an intoxicated, infatuated Chef Saltbaker, who wasted no time pinning you against the wall, holding you captive as he traced his finger up underneath your chin to kiss you.

At first you had no idea what had gotten into him. But once he began to graze your neck again, you looked over towards the counter where a nicely decorated dish with two Cherry Danishes are places. Right next to them was a half-empty love potion.

Immediately you knew exactly what had happened. But before you could mention anything, Chef Saltbaker swept you off your feet, bridal style, and went over to his living quarters.

He wanted you all to himself. If his actions while cuddling on a lounging chair weren't giving you any clues, then his words of passion and desire certainly did.

The things he whispered into your ear! The flowery prose-like confirmations he spoke of you! The many, many ways he longed to do with you - right now, in the future, and so on! The intoxication had spilled out your lover's most sober thoughts, and by Golly, were you immensely flattered!

But eventually, you asked about the love potion, which made him stop. In a moment of sheer embarrassment, Chef Saltbaker sheepishly covered his face as he gently placed you down. How could he be so... so...!

Ah, but you were okay. He was okay. You knew what he was trying to do for your anniversary, and you reassured him that, despite his mistake, you were absolutely happy to be with him. With or without those sweet little pastries.

Although this had not cured his lovesickness, Chef Saltbaker rested his head on your lap, exhausted from his experience. You smiled as you lovingly rubbed your thumb against his cheek. It would be another six or so hours until Chef Saltbaker finally goes back to being himself again.

this is part 2 to 10:36 :) this is also just fluff but i’m thinking of posting more parts. each post is based off a song from beatopia which reminds me of kurt for some reason LMFAO.

you apologized to kurt for a few days straight, embarrassed at your drunk antics. he understood, telling you that it was all okay but your guilty nature wouldn't let it slide at any cost. you felt stupid with your obsession of the situation, you just hadn't had a moment like that with anyone.

you acted like you didn't remember all the details, apologizing for making him drive you home and having to get you into bed. you didn't dare bringing up trying to kiss him and he wouldn't either, it was an unspoken event that always lingered in both of your minds when texting.

you had been working on video ideas on the following tuesday from the party. you had gotten off from your main job and worked in your notes app to come up with skits. you had a few that had to do with a few filters but they weren't extremely funny to you. the rain outside mixed with your playlist playing quietly was calming, letting your mind focus on what you needed.

you kept your gaze on your phone, your brain trying to rack up something as you sat at your desk. you tapped your fingers and hummed along until you heard a knock at the door. you heard your roommate start walking, their footsteps loud like usual. you stayed out in your room and just assumed they got doordash or something.

"hey (y/n), you got a guy at the door!" they yelled.

confused, you paused your music. you turned your phone off, getting up and putting it in the pocket of your shirt drawstring pajama shorts. you pulled your oversized crewneck down and stepped to the door where you saw a soaked kurt.

"uh, hi kurt?" you asked with confusion sprawled across your face. "what are you doing here?"

he waved and gave a small smile.

"uh, you left this in my car," he hands you a patterned scrunchie, his grip a bit shaky. "just wanted-just making sure you got it. i was gonna give it to you soon-sooner, but i forgot."

you thank him and he kind of just stands there a bit awkwardly. your roommate had gone into their room so you asked if kurt wanted to come inside.

"yeah, i wanted to like talk to you," he accepted your offer, his voice trembling a bit.

you shut the door behind him and tell him to follow you to your room. you hated being in the living room when your roommate was around (which was rare) so you made sure you guys could have privacy in your area. he complimented your room, your ego boosted a bit since you had finally kept in clean for a little longer than a week.

he unzipped his jacket to reveal a dry purple t-shirt with some video game graphic on it. you sat at your desk chair and he sat on the edge of your bed, a few feet between the two of you, knees close.

"so what's up?" you ask, your heart beating.

"uh... oh yeah," he paused and you could definitely tell he was nervous. "so uh, my audience had grown since the live stream before the party and uh they ask about you, a lot of them are your followers."

you nodded and looked at him, his eyes avoiding yours. you analyzed him and smiled at how pretty he was for being such an awkward person.

"i was wondering," he paused again, looking at his hands. "if like... you want to make some videos together? like to let everyone know that we are good friends? it will help my numbers and more people will actually tune in since you are already famous."

"kurt i'm not famous," you laughed. "i have my own special spot on tik tok but most don't watch me."

"well like, the other day i got a couple hundred people watching my stream," he started to boast a bit. "they were all asking about you and i... i told them about like the party and how we are good friends and like, talk everyday. they want to see you and i together-not like together like kissing or something but just hanging."

your breath hitched as he brought up kissing. you know he was alluding to doing it as friends but it just caught you off guard. you wanted to say yes to him, it could potentially help you as well. you wanted to quit working at a grocery store for a majority of your week, just live an easier life where you could do what you love for a job.

"i don't know, kurt," you started voicing your doubts. "what if the fans get creepy or something?"

"i think that we could handle it," he smiled. "i can give you time to think but i think we would be good together-not together together like partners."

you nodded.

"yeah i'll think about it," you smiled, shifting your legs a bit which led your knee's to hit his. "anything else?"

he opened his mouth and looked at you, his hands shaking a bit. you kept your gaze against his, smiling. his cheeks were red, his hair soaked but it still looked greasy like you had seen it before. he played with the sleeve of his jacket, his eyes turning to face his fumbling.

“i-well,” he managed to spit out, his hesitation leaving the room’s atmosphere thick. “do you remember what you said to me when you were drunk?”

you were shocked to hear him talk fully and fluidly through a sentence. your eyes burned holes into his head, your heart racing. you had two choices: tell him the truth or lie your ass off.

“uh i remember getting in the car,” you admitted, deciding to pick and choose. “i remember asking if you liked me and then i remembered staring at you. sorry that i did all that.”

his face was hidden by his hair so you couldn’t get a grasp on what he was thinking. all you could see were a few freckles that peaked through the wet strands that fell forward.

“oh yeah,” he said, his voice a bit monotoned. “i just wanted to-well like be like honest-“

he kept cutting himself off and you were getting hot, your cheeks now bright red.

“i do like you,” he admitted. “if that’s okay? i mean like i don’t want to make you uncomfortable like that, i mean-god-like i like you and you make me nervous-it’s not your fault, just that i get worked up easy and i don’t stop talking like ever and-“

“kurt, i think i feel something too,” you laugh, interrupting him in his tirade of loose fumbled words.

he then got a call from his dad. he picks up the phone and presses it gently to his ear, his eyes rolling. you pull out your phone and check some of your messages, trying to not explode at the absolute excitement you felt.

“dad, what the fuck?” he asked. “you can just order a spree, im with someone right now.”

you heard incoherent talking on the other end. kurt finally sighs after the back and forth he has, then ending his call. he stood up and sighed again, putting his jacket on.

“hey uh, my dad needs me to give him a ride,” he zips up the plaid hoodie. “uh, i’ll talk to you later?”

you nod and stand up as well. you lead him to your door reluctantly. you guys both awkwardly pause to look at each other.

“bye, (y/n),” he said with a slight chuckle.
