This is an assumption. But why do you think JK bought his property in Itaewon out of all places ? And now building a mansion there which means that will be his main house he decides to settle. I've seen all korean stars buying their homes to love with their family in more decent and high end areas like Gagnam, Hannam etc. No one really buys property in itaewon with an aim to settle there with family as it's like the party spot of SK. Itaewon is known for clubs, brothels, parties, drugs and prostitution, most only go there to party, have one night stands or do illegal activities. Someone visiting Itaewon often is eye brow raising enough so building a whole mansion there is sus af isn't it ?
Hey,
I understand tone can’t be accurately interpreted with written words, so I just want to make my tone clear first and foremost.
I’m speaking with no harshness, judgement or condescension.
DM me and we can delulu cutely together with no air of authority on the matter, cos we should know we don’t know shit, but can still want to coo and dream with others 🤗.
We’ve seen and been outraged by sasaengs and their stalking of members and called them out at times. We’ve literally seen Jungkook on live entering his apartment and being annoyed with sasaengs loitering outside of his building, he has even said in that same live that he knows people knows where he lives and posted online.
Put yourselves in their shoes, who wants millions knowing your full address and being able to turn up unannounced? Because they’re fans of your music, of your image? I’m gonna leave that there.
I will say in regards to Itaewon, I’m not Korean, I don’t have a Korean father, a Korean brother, a Korean bff who works at Hybe, nothing. I do have a friend who went on a program, studied there and lived there for years but that’s it. I don’t know anything about Itaewon apart from the Halloween tragedy and a K-Drama. So guess what I did, yup you guessed it, I GOGGLED💪

Incoming cheeky tone…I thought I said ‘genuine asks’? This right here sounds like laying down the groundwork to paint a certain picture of Jungkook?🤔🤨

Itaewon
You said: ‘I’ve seen all Korean stars buying their homes to live with their families in more decent high end areas like Gangnam, Hannam etc’.
I say: That’s a pretty bold, blanket statement 😬
Famous idol Rain and his actress wife and children have a home in Itaewon as do many other celebrities with their spouses, partners and families
Actor Song Joong-Ki and his British wife, who was pregnant at the time, moved to his Itaewon mansion along with her family from the UK. They welcomed a baby girl in 2023.
Tumblr media
Chaebols like those belonging to the Samsung family also have homes in Itaewon
Doing my googles, Itaewon is known as ‘a multi-cultural commercial area located in Seoul, South Korea. It is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Seoul, known for its nightlife and trendy restaurants.’ ‘Seoul's International District’.
I know some other places that sound like the above.. London…New York…Paris…
I wonder where the prostitution, drugs and one night stands come into it for people who wanna buy or build houses in those cities?
Jungkook is currently a 26 year old multimillionaire, who is a member of one of the biggest groups in not just South Korea, but the world, so I guess he’ll have lots to do when he’s not working his ass off with his intense more than full time job. Settling somewhere with family…I’m sure he’ll take Bam into consideration in his plans, wherever it may be.
Something I did find cool when doing my googles 😁
Tumblr media
‘Korean singer-songwriter JYP (Park Jin-young) and Yoo Se-yoon's hip hop duo UV released the song "Itaewon Freedom" in April 2011. The title alludes to (and the lyrics celebrate) a common Korean perception of Itaewon's "open atmosphere", in contrast with conventional Korean culture, which is more conservative.’
Tumblr media
LGBTQIA+ ‘haven’ Itaewon
‘The 2020 South Korean Netflix television series Itaewon Class is set in Itaewon. The drama was praised for its diverse and inclusive cast and its realistic portrayal of subjects such as prejudice and discrimination against foreigners, ex-convicts and the LGBT people, as well as the portrayal of misbehaviors by chaebol corporations.’
Sounds like Itaewon is a cool, diverse, inclusive place, full of sites & attractions, shops and good food. If a 26+ year old man that’s been working and in the public eye since 13/14 wanted to build a home there, Itaewon sounds like a great place and a good investment.
I’d love to visit there, if I ever had the time AND money 🥲
Thanks for the ask, it caused me to learn something new!

Met my friends at Itaewon for dinner. We ate chicken feet and clam soup. It was different from Chinese chicken feet and they seemed to like it. I realized that we drank everyday since they came. In my defense, Koreans are not alcoholics, we're just passionate about alcohol! They were very tired and so we headed home early after dinner. They had really high GPAs which was so impressive. They definitely push myself to have higher standards and become better. I wanted them to know that I was worthy of their time.
I got rejected from the firm. I don't know what went wrong because they were impressed with my career and even implied that I might get in maybe I interpreted it differently. I was definitely disappointed. On top of the I saw one on my friends announce that he was working at the UN. I was so depressed.

Guys DO NOT go to the trending Itaewon tag on Twitter. A Halloween party went terribly wrong, there are several casualties and by the looks of it it's getting worse. There a lot of graphic videos circulating online so please be careful. Mute the tag if you have to. MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING
Also something really went wrong in society if people are still partying while watching all the ambulances take the injured to the nearest hospital. What the actual fuck people.

Holy shit guys so many disturbing photos and videos going around of Itaewon rn so do not go on Twitter is this is something that can be triggering… literally bodies lying on the street and people performing cpr
But if you do want to know what is going on seems like there was a huge Halloween festivities going on in Itaewon/Seoul, South Korea. There was huge overcrowding causing people to faint, suffocate and go into cardiac arrest. Estimated over 100,000 people were there in this neighborhood
Right now looks like there’s over 140 deaths and 100 people injured
This is fucking awful and I’m heartbroken for these victims and their families

It's actually really important to understand the difference between a stampede and a crowd crush. Crushes are MUCH more deadly than stampedes and harder to guard against. You likely won't know you're in a crush until it's too late, and then there's no means of escape. Only careful crowd-control by competent authorities can avoid a crush - there are almost no protective options available to individuals other than to avoid crowds entirely.
Please remember this when you talk about the tragedy in SK. It was NOT a stampede and correct terminology needs to be used if there is to be any hope of avoiding more incidents like this.

Regarding the Itaewon ask.
I think it shows how much people rely on kdramas and maybe even fanfiction when it comes to their thoughts on South Korea. Because as someone who did no research on the different districts in Seoul (yet), mainly because I'm not planning to visit soon or care about where BTS live (invasion of privacy, imo), I too thought of Itaewon as the party hot spot. Which it is but I guess as with all things SK it is a lot bigger and more diverse than just that.
But thanks to your post I'm now educated.
I think Bam might be the deciding factor, and I hope JKs mansion has enough outdoor space to satisfy a dog his size. Anything else would be bordering animal cruelty which is not who JK is at all.
Also, as you said, security is really important and I assume that there's a lot of protocols for both the general Itaewon and Gangnam areas to protect the many celebrities living there. That on top of the excellent security BigHit has given BTS puts my mind at ease.
My last point is that I don't really see JK being a club going person. Firstly, he's THE JJK and it'd be sadly very dangerous for him to just go out and be drunk in a public space. Especially since the idol image in general is so sterilised, and if him drinking a few beers last year at home caused an army-wide panic that he was a depressed alcoholic, I don't wanna imagine what leaked pics of him from clubs and bars would lead to. Their loss of normality is something all members have talked about repeatedly, and it's one of the saddest aspects of their reality we as fans have to understand. On top of that, the constant presence of saesangs and rabbid fans isn't something you truly forget about.
JK's privacy had been invaded way too often already. I hope the mansion has security that puts the White House to shame.
~Ask Anon is referring to~
Hi lovely!
I appreciate what you’re saying! Thank you for sending this in, I try not to answer just for the anon but for myself and anyone that wants to take the time to read my essays (I have a problem with talking too much 😩🙈). I’m so glad you were able to learn a little something new too💪. It’s difficult to say or show something that hasn’t already been said so that puts a smile on my face for sure.
Don’t even get me started about the different versions of JK people have in their heads of him,
Tumblr media
if I start I’ll never stop, and tbh that goes for all of the members 😪
Tumblr media
Please more secure than the White House 🥴
I too hope wherever he lives, after this pause in their lives is done, is more secure than The White House, The Blue House, The Kremlin, Buckingham Palace, I could go on! I NEED THEM TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE PLACE OF PEACE, PLEASE 😭

Nice talking to you.

Okay, thankfully I haven’t seen any victim-blaming at all over my dashboard nor outside of Tumblr, but I think it’s important to emphasize — especially to those who are probably now discovering what crowd crushes are for the first time ever through this event — that the people within these crushes/stampedes are never at fault.
The people who could of prevented this are the organizers and law enforcement in the area.
The people who were within the crowd themselves would of had no control over themselves or what happened.
They couldn’t expected this. None of them could anticipate the large crowd or how said large crowd would caused such a thing. Only the organizers would of had the foresight of this and law enforcement/security could of managed the overpopulation problem and done crowd control.
When you are within a crowd crush, you literally have no control over yourself. You can’t dictate what direction you are going in, you wouldn’t know what you are stepping on and if you do, you can’t make yourself stop moving and it’s almost impossible to get out of one of these crowds once you’re in them.
Often times, even if you are trying to break out and stop the stampede, you are inadvertently contributing to it more.
It’s a horrifying and painful experience, so please just extend your condolences to survivors and the families effected.
My heart goes out to Itaewon <3

About the Halloween Crowd Crush in the Itaewon District of Seoul, South Korea
The information here is to provide some clarification on crowd crushes, and some specific information on what happened in Itaewon. First, some general information:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The circled parts are very important: uneven ground + narrow passageway.
Let’s compare this to another crowd crush that happened in April of 2021 in Israel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, we have a situation with a narrow passageway and a sloping floor (a staircase, in this case).
There is an idea that people will file through an area without much incident, it’s crowded and slow but it’s otherwise not going to be a problem. After all, if I fall down, I can just stand up again. But in reality, it is a matter of physics…at this density, we almost behave as a liquid. You fall down, and suddenly there are people on top of you.
Being on top of the pile, you cannot easily push yourself off. You can roll, but you’re only rolling across the pile, not off. You’re too high/far for any of the rescue people on the ground to pull you off (to reduce the pressure on lower layers). And you can’t easily push yourself up because people are squishy and squirming, there’s no way to get firm enough “ground” to push off. So you’re stuck trying to rock yourself off of the pile, putting additional pressure and taking more time. This is why rescue workers began pulling at the bottom layers rather than trying to pull/push off the top layers.
My students have been haunted by the images (not shown here, but shared on social media). Those images may haunt them for years, maybe forever. What we can do is use those bad images to remind us to be safe. It’s not their fault, of course. The victims had no idea this would happen…most people don’t understand crowd crushes. I know about them because of my fields of study. So it’s not to say it was their fault. But from this lesson, we can stop others from being in this situation. We can pause and go the long way, or wait a few more minutes to let the crowd dissipate, and we will be safer and the crowd will also be safer.
Unfortunately, VERY unfortunately, safety lessons are “hard learned”. It means that we only pay attention after a tragedy. THEN we think about safety.
It’s hard to deal with because this was something no one expected. It was an accident. And I think people are upset because they “should have” expected it. But really, only people like me who had to study this stuff, we know it’s a reasonable expectation but most people don’t. It’s not their fault; but now we are all very aware of it at the same time. Maybe now politicians can understand this risk better.
We have to remember there is no one to blame. Some people want to place blame; I think it helps them feel safe. If they can blame X, then avoid X, they believe they are safe from this type of harm. They blame “being drunk” or they blame “pushing”, or “they were too young to know better.” But really, it is not that. It was pure physics. A lot of people in a narrow alley + uneven/sloping ground + one or two people tripping and falling = a “wave” of people falling, too. It’s not about age, drunkenness, etc.
And that’s hardest for people to accept. We want to think we have control over our lives, over our safety. We want to think we can be safe if only we do XYZ. But a lot of life is just luck. And this makes people feel really uncomfortable, so they get upset and try to blame someone or something.
I think that’s why these tragedies are burned into our memories so hard, because not only are they devastating and tragic as a human loss, but they are also a very horrifying reminder that any of us or our loved ones can just…not be here tomorrow.
We do the most we can, and have to accept that it’s the most we can do.
If you need someone to talk to, my inbox is always open.
