the TV Guide for the week of April 27-May 3, 2002 had four variant covers featuring Spider-Man. the first of the four covers was by John Romita, Sr., who was working from a layout by his son, John Romita, Jr. Looks like Dan Kemp colors too.

The other variants were by:

2 of 4: John Romita, Jr., with Inks by Scott Hanna, and Colors by Dan Kemp. (That’s who he was working with on his regular gig doing Amazing Spider-Man with JMS at the time, so that’s probably who inked and colored this cover too, but I’m not a 100% sure).

15. Worst storyline he had ...will I get evicted from being a Venom fan if I say "Agent Venom"?

No, no, I'm kidding. Mostly. There have been a few clunkers, but the one that immediately comes to mind for me is the whole... Hobgoblin mess. Mostly the OOC-ness that was written as a way of being like "ooOOooOOooOO is he the HooOOooOOobgoblin??????" and it was ultimately like. No. No he was not. He was just?? Being shitty as fuck and borderline abusive to Sha Shan for no reason??? Anyways! That was bad.

I also did not like how he was written in the Howard Mackie ASM run (so vol 2 until JMS took over) but that's not so much a storyline as it is just, I don't like Mackie ASM.

16. A childhood headcanon I think Flash taught himself how to do basic makeup and hair stuff so that he could help Jesse with hers. Cis/heteronormativity probably kept Flash from experimenting too much on himself, combined of course with the terrifying fear of being caught by his dad, but... idk, it would be sweet to me.

Bonus if Jesse is like, "idk, I have my eyeliner and these two bottles of nail polish and I'm good" and Flash is standing there with a giant deluxe makeup kit and fifteen kinds of brushes and thirty bottles of polish.

Jesse just seems like a girl who keeps it simple.

Teen Swanfire Moodboards

I went a little nuts making swanfire aesthetics for no reason. I hope you guys like

I had a random thought when I saw a post comparing MJR to Dylan O’Brien in American Assassin, and they look so similar! And if you’ve seen Britt Robertson in Life Unexpected you can tell she’d be a fantastic teen Emma.

It’s funny to think about, because back when Tallahassee first came out in 2012, Dylan and Britt would have been 21 and 22, so they would have been a more appropriate choice to portray teens.

Dylan Schmid and Abby Ross would have been way too young. JM and MJR were amazing in that episode and their chemistry was great but they were both in their mid 30s.

I know they wanted to have MJR in that episode so we recognized him from the pilot, plus they got away with Lana portraying her younger self in The Stable Boy. I just can’t help but think if they had gotten two young actors like Britt and Dylan to play teen Neal and Emma, we could have avoided all those anti posts that rage about the swanfire age difference (when MJR and JM were only two years apart and that wanted poster had a fake birthdate).

Into Every Generation a Slayer is Born

I finished the book Into Every Generation a Slayer is Born by Evan Ross Katz. A month ago, and I did a twitter thread review of it, since a lot of my Buffy friends are over there and not here, and now I collected it all here for myself and people of DW. :)

It is an easy read that covered a lot of ground fast but not particularly deep. I got in for the new interviews with the cast and crew, and the interviews were delivered. I could do without opinions on quality of the last seasons and continuous sniping at Marty Noxon, but well… The time for the perfect book shall come one day.

1) Best new tidbit of information: Antony Stewart Head played Giles as a mix of Prince Charles and Alan Rickman’s Sheriff of Nottingham. This already is worth the price of the book.

2) Best duh moment – Cynthia Erivo telling her understanding of Anya reflecting an experience of an immigrant. The most surprising part was why didn’t I pick up on it before, as I was watching and connecting with Anya twenty years ago.

3) the best interview was with SMG. The author is her biggest fan, and she comes off really great there. Of course she is also frank, respectful, sweet and supportive of all the people she worked with, and very appreciative and proud of Buffy’s legacy.

4) the weirdest interview was with Nicholas Brendon. It is understandable, given his unhappy trajectory over the years. And I was glad to read his warm words about CC and SMG, but I also didn’t really care about his latest feud with DB. Overall, it was really sad to read, the whole story of NB, but it definitely added to the whole perspective.

5) the most emotional interview turned out to be with Cynthia Bergstorm, the costume designer for seasons 2-6. Reading her account on the atmosphere on set before she left I almost cried. No, not tears of joy. More like tears of anger

6) the most notable interviews we didn’t get were with AH and Michele Trachtenberg, as they were planned then canceled after February 2021, following the newest wave of conversation about Joss. I understand their reluctance to discuss it at the time.

7) Out of the writers we saw Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Drew Z. Greenberg. Marty Noxon didn’t answer the requests and for some reason the author was really mean about it several times and it was really annoying to read.

I was quite happy to see also interviews with Amber Benson, Emma Caulfield, CC, Julie Benz, Mark Blucas, Danny Strong, Seth Green, Tom Lenk, JM, ASH, Bianca Lawson, . Am I forgetting anyone of the cast?

There were no any profound revelations, after all I’ve been a fan for twenty years (soon – yay!) and generally had an idea how it came to be, but the picture became clearer and more detailed. From the history, to the process, and the behind the scene stuff

The interviewees rarely got into any details, and never shared anything lurid or scandalous, but I got the following picture: it started with them being very young and mostly inexperienced. JW was a writer, but had no idea how to run a tv show or direct episodes. And if he successfully managed to do later, the former proved to be problematic.

One of the details everybody talks about is their insane working hours: an average workday during the filming season was 18-20 hours, which is genuinely crazy even if you don’t take into account all the makeup, fight rehearsals, and expected precision in delivering dialogue.

The Beloved Buffy-speak is literally Joss speak. Joss speaks more or less like this and all his characters speak like this, and all his writers write like this and if not he changed the lines to be more like this and the actors had to say lines precisely, re-doing the takes until they manage.

They started a one small happy family, then as the show’s popularity grew, as they had more money, fame and pressure, they become “middle school with more money” according to Mark Blucas, then really, really tired group by the end of the series.

The blame for growing toxic atmosphere on set all the interviewee put on being young, overworked and “someone” on top constantly stirring s*** up and pitting the actresses against each other. (some interviews were done before Feb.2021 and the latest round of allegations)

This story, told by Emma Caulfield is very representative. I'll just add it all here

Mark Blucas, btw, gave a very sweet interview, where he several times apologized for having caused problems for cast and crew due to be totally new to acting and having no clue what he was doing and, of course, praised SMG for being very patient and very helpful

I need to finish the write-up, I guess. So, a month after finishing the book I have to say that it was a fun read, fast, not very engaging. It confirmed what I, as an old fan new or guessed, or explained details that made me go “Duh!” - of course, they were young, mostly inexperienced and over-tired.

Of course, JW was messing up. I mean, I wasn’t even very deep into details, but I always knew that the cast was divided into “favorites” and “not favorites”. I didn’t really think that it was an intentional division, that JW created and exploited, but apparently it was. Oh, well. I was happy to know that the actresses mostly reconciled by now.

And the most pleasant part of the book was SMG – both her own interview with an author, and what everyone said about her. I remember, in my early days in the fandom there was a strong anti-SMG streak, where by calling her “professional” people meant she was cold, unfeeling and un-fun.

Whereas it actually meant she cared about cast and crew and doing her job without wasting everyone’s time (remember those crazy hours!) and without creating extra problems for her colleges. She helped her cast-mates, she helped the crew, she worked a lot, she wasn’t always right, but who was?

So, anyway. That was not a definitive book by all means, but an ok one. There are more books to be written, about Buffy, and the fandom, and all the ways it is still changing our lives. I personally want more books on Buffy fandom.

"Why be open now and private back then" *Ross voice* THEY WERE ON A BREAK. No but forreal I think Jk hooked up with somebody else because that perfectly answers a bunch of questions like that is the missing piece of the puzzle forreal.

Okay, but even if JK was hooking up with people back then, which is very plausible to and aort of first whar we already know, JM didn't seem very bothered about it. I don't think there was much drama , even if we believe they were broken up back then (I believe it). JK was still *very* happy to see JM in his vlives, and Jimin still frequently responded with cute little messages. Even if not together anymore, they were still chill.

I feel obligated to mention that despite this narrative (because it is precisely that, we are speculating here) being convincing, we could still be reading too much into it, and they really didn't meet much just because of schedules and Jimin being very very busy, and later JK being busy with going to the USA for Seven, as well as CK. This is the much less delulu explanation, even though honestly, the other one makes sort of perfect sense to me, as well, and kind of ties together a lot of loose ends.

Superformance MKIII 427ci 5-Speed $91,000

This Superformance MKIII was ordered new by the seller from Hillbank Motor Corporation of Irvine, California in 2006. Finished in black over black leather, the car is powered by a 427ci side-oiler V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. Voss Performance of Fullerton, California installed the powertrain as well as heavy-duty sway bars, and other equipment includes 15″ Halibrand-style wheels, Wilwood disc brakes, ceramic-coated side pipes, dual roll hoops, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The seller has added approximately 4,500 miles to the car, which has been issued SB100 smog exemption in California. This Shelby Cobra replica is now offered with a soft top, a tonneau cover, a car cover, a hammer, a fire extinguisher, a build sheet, service records, and a clean California title that describes the car as a specially constructed vehicle with no model year.

The car was custom-ordered in black and finished in PPG materials using a two-stage process. Features include dual chrome-finished roll hoops, ceramic-coated side pipes, and a locking hood, trunk, and gas cap. The seller notes stone chips on the lower area of the nose, and the paintwork and exterior trim are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Polished aluminum 15″ Halibrand-style wheels are mounted with three-ear knockoffs that have been safety wired. They are shod in 255/60 front and 295/50 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and each corner is equipped with Wilwood disc brakes. The car also features a coilover suspension, and Voss Performance installed larger heavy-duty sway bars front and rear.

The interior features bucket seats with black leather upholstery and upper harnesses that were added to integrate with the latch-locking lap belts. The glovebox is lockable, and the battery as well as an electrical disconnect switch are located in the trunk.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a reverse-sweep 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, auxiliary gauges, and a Lucas ammeter.

The 427ci side-oiler V8 was initially built by JMS Racing Engines of Monrovia, California and installed by Voss Performance. In 2008 the engine was rebuilt, serviced and tuned by RC Performance of Huntington Beach, California, at which time dynamometer results indicated that the engine produced a peak output of 465 horsepower and 493 lb-ft of torque at the crankshaft. Features include a forged crank, Ross pistons, cast-iron cylinder heads with Shelby American roller rocker arms, an Isky Racing Cams camshaft, a mechanical MSD distributor, a Canton Racing Products oil pan, ceramic-coated headers, and dual-quad Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetors mounted to a Ford Racing mid-rise intake manifold. The seller notes that the oil was changed in preparation for the sale and that the solid-lifter valves should be adjusted in approximately 800 miles.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual transmission. The rear differential features a 3.73:1 final-drive ratio, and additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery.

What’s Mule ESB?

Mule, the runtime machine of Anypoint Platform, is a featherlight Java- grounded enterprise service machine( ESB) and integration platform that allows inventors to connect operations together snappily and fluently, enabling them to change data.
