What A Time - (x.t)
Pairing: Xavier Thorpe x Fem!reader
Summary: Wednesday Addams has drove a wedge between you and your boyfriend, Xavier. Will it be enough for you to move on? Or will you fight for the love you two share?
Warnings: angst
Tumblr media
“I think of that night in the park
It was getting dark
And we stayed up for hours
What a lie, what a lie, what a lie
You would cling to my body like you wanted it forever
What a lie, what a lie, what a lie”
Wednesday Addams. The name left a bitter taste in my mouth as I sat in the courtyard watching her interact with Xavier, Enid, and Ajax. It wasn’t that I considered her a threat, even that she had done anything wrong. The problem was Xavier’s deeply rooted interest he had recently mentioned in one of our late night discussions. She was peculiar, mysterious, and more importantly new.
Bianca Barclay had warned me months ago when Xavier had taken up an interest in me that the day would come someone would walk into his life and I would be tossed to the side. Unfortunately at the time I was so taken with him it never occurred to me that that would ever be a possibility. Yet, here I was, sitting next to Yoko being completely blindsided by a girl who’s color palette was simply black and white.
“I believe the words I’m looking for are, I told you so.” Her voice felt sharp. Almost like a knife being twisted in a wound. I didn’t even need to glance up at her to know her face held a devilish smirk. “Karma doesn’t rest. Not even for the wicked.” My eyes fluttered shut and I could hear her heels clicking off into the distance. My stomach churned at the thought of losing Xavier to Wednesday.
“Take what she says with a grain of salt. Everyone sees the way he looks at you.” Yoko reached for my hand and I let her take it in hers. “What do you say we start brain storming for the Poe Cup? Hm?” I hummed in response. Not taking my eyes off the pudding cup that sat untouched on the table. “Something wicked this way comes.” My head shot up at the sound of metal hitting our table. Enid, Ajax, and Xavier had taken their normal spots and were just now preparing for lunch.
“Hey guys.” Enid said cheerily before pulling me into a quick side hug. Xavier sat across from me, his green eyes boring into me but I didn’t dare look up. “Poe Cup is coming up and we need to discuss ideas.”
“I’m actually not feeling well.” I said quickly while pushing myself up from my seat. Xavier was quick to follow my actions. “I’m gonna go to my dorm and take a nap.”
“Let me come with you.” His voice was soft and sweet. Almost like honeysuckle. Finally I glanced up at him and saw the smile spread across his face. My heart ached at the sight. “We can go to Jericho later and grab some dinner if you want.”
“Not necessary.” His face dropped at the rejection and he gently grabbed my elbow and moved us away from our friends and out of earshot. “Xav, please. I want to go to my dorm.” That’s when I felt his fingers gently tugging at my chin and lifting my gaze to meet his.
“You’ve been distant lately. Almost as if you’re a ghost in my life.” He moved his hand from my chin to caress my cheek and out of habit I nuzzled closer into his palm. “I miss you.” His words sent electricity through me. The type of electricity that burns you to the core. It sparked the anger I had tried so hard to keep at bay since Wednesday Addams had made her hasty arrival.
“As if you noticed.” I paused pulling away from his touch and out of his arms. His face twisted in confusion at my words. “Ever since Wednesday arrived it’s as if I don’t exist. You cancelled two date nights and every time I stop by your dorm Rowan says you aren’t there. You promised me after our tiff over Bianca that we would have more nights like that night in the park. You promised, Xav.” His eyes softened at my words and he took a step forward to which I took a step back. “I thought you wanted me forever?” He went to reach for me again but I took another step back.
“Of course I do, baby. I wish I could tell you what’s going on but it’s not my business to tell.” I scoffed at his words. “But you know I want you. I want you always.”
“Then why is it so hard?” He cocked his head at me waiting for me to continue.
“Why is what so hard?” Tears began to well up in my eyes as I held his gaze. Knowing that this might possibly be the last time I look at him like this and hear him say these words. I make a mental note to burn this into the back of my mind and take a shaky breath.
“Loving you.” I can see his shoulders slump at my response. His eyes gloss over and he takes a staggering step backwards. “I think,” I pause, closing my eyes and placing my hand against my stomach to calm myself. If I break now, I won’t be able to go through with this. “I need you to be happy.” Xavier shakes his head and takes a quick step forward gripping tightly onto my arms.
“No, whatever you’re thinking of doing, please, don’t do this. Let’s just go to your dorm and talk about this.” I shake my head and step out of his grip reluctantly. “Please.”
“Then why can’t you say it?” My voice is slightly louder than the previous argument we’ve been having and he winces at the volume. “I have proclaimed my love to you in various ways, Xavier. Yet, you can’t even tell me you love me. I would never force you to do so, but if you love me, if you want me, why does it feel like you don’t?”
“I do. You know I do.” By now Enid and Yoko have caught onto the disagreement at hand and I can feel their gazes set on us. “Let’s just go to your dorm.” He takes my arm in his hand but i viciously rip it from his grip.
“No. I can’t do this anymore.” Slowly I look up at him to see the tears starting to fall. “I love you but I just can’t come second to her or anyone else anymore. I’m sorry, Xav. I’m so sorry.” I quickly lean up on my tip toes and press a kiss to his cheek before turning away and racing to my dorm. Once I’m pressed firmly against the shut door and securely in my dorm the tears flow freely. They’re hot against my cheeks and it’s almost as I can feel my heart physically breaking.
The days pass by with harsh stares and rainy days. In some ways I was grateful for the rain because it helped mask the tears and the heartbreak that came with losing Xavier. It wasn’t until I found him and Wednesday shooting arrows at targets and chatting amongst themselves that it hit me the hardest. I turned on my heels to retreat back into the building but as I took my first step I heard his voice.
“Hey.” It was soft and unsure. “Can we talk?” I knew it was against my better judgement but when I turned and saw the bags under his eyes and how bloodshot his eyes were, I knew I didn’t have a choice. He was as miserable as I was. I nodded and followed behind him as he trailed towards his dorm. Once inside he took a seat on his bed. “Please tell me what’s going on. I’ve been going through the last two weeks in my brain trying to figure out where it all went wrong.”
“If you don’t know, there’s no point in me telling you.” He groaned and rubbed his hands against his face.
“Can you please just talk to me-“ he was cut off by the sound of his phone ringing. He glanced down at it before looking back up at me. It continued to ring.
“Are you gonna get that?” By the look on his face I could already tell who it was. A certain pigtailed goth girl who had captured his attention as if it were a game of capture the flag and she was winning by a long shot. After a few moments it stopped ringing but immediately started again. “Goddamn it, Xavier.” I went to reach for the phone but he grabbed my hand.
“We’re talking. She can wait.” I felt my face harden at his words. She can wait.
“So I was right?” I pull my arm from his grasp and take a couple steps backwards. “It’s Wednesday.” He sighed heavily before glancing down at the phone. “Please. Don’t keep her waiting on my behalf.” The sound of a text message coming through steals his attention away and suddenly he’s rushing out of his seat.
“I have to go.” He throws a jacket on and grabs his flashlight before attempting to walk passed me. With all the strength I could muster I grab his elbow and catch his gaze.
“If you walk out that door, you’re walking out of my life.” He closes his eyes for all but a second and presses a gentle kiss to my forehead.
“I’m sorry.” And with those words he disappeared into the crowded hallway. My eyes stung with tears that wanted to fall freely and my heart ached as his words became the final nail in the coffin of our relationship. The rain fell heavy outside the windows as I walked back to my dorm room. All I could think was how ironic it was that the weather could mimic my exact feelings in that moment. I wanted to mourn. To sulk. To simply disappear into the shadows where no one could find me. But how do you mourn someone who is still alive?
The days crept agonizingly slow. Xavier kept his distance and found sanctuary in Wednesday and our friends while I clung to the shadows. I was sitting alone in the Quad when Bianca began to approach me. When she noticed my glare she held her hands up in surrender.
“I come in peace. However, I do have a proposition.” She takes a seat across from me and nods toward Xavier who is sat across from Wednesday at our normal table. “I hear Wednesday is going to be co-pilot for Enid and the Black Cats today for the Poe Cup. Join our team.” I scoff and push my tray away.
“What makes you think I would do that?” Her face breaks out into a devilish grin.
“You’re in need of a win and I want Xavier and Wednesday to be as distracted as possible.” Unfortunate for both of us, being her co-pilot only led us to another loss. Wednesday and Enid had led their team to a win while Xavier and Ajax cheered them on. That night as I sat in my dorm a soft knock could be heard on my door.
“I don’t want visitors.” I stated plainly as I opened to door to see the all too familiar pigtailed girl.
“Good thing I didn’t ask.” She stepped by me and took a seat in my writing chair.
“What? Here to rub salt in the wound?” Her lips twitched upwards into the smallest of smiles but she quickly caught on and looked away.
“Although the thought gives me much pleasure I’m here about Xavier.” I follow her gaze as she glances around the room. “It’s come to my attention that you believe I’m trying to engage in a romantic relationship with him.”
“That’s not-“ she held her hand up.
“I can assure you that’s not my intentions. All I want is to figure out what killed Rowan and what it has to do with me. Xavier is just collateral. He has been helping me.” Her words stop me cold in my tracks. I take a seat on my bed across from her and finally meet her eyes.
“Rowan’s dead?” She nods.
“I saw it myself. He was murdered by the monster and someone is covering it up.” She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a neatly folded piece of paper before handing it me. On it what looks to be a picture of her. “Before he died he told me I would destroy the school. I’m trying to figure out what he meant. Maybe you could be of assistance. Xavier says you’re smart.” I shrug.
“Sure but why do you want my help?” She takes the paper from my hands and folds it before placing it back in her pocket.
“I need someone as clever as me to help me solve this puzzle. First, you need to speak with Xavier.” With that she rises to her feet and walks to the door. “He loves you. For whatever reason.” I pull my phone from my pocket and quickly type out a message to him. After a few minutes there’s another knock on my door before it slowly opens.
“Hey.” His voice is quiet. He took a seat beside me on the bed and placed his hands in his lap. After a few moments of silence I finally spoke.
“I was wrong about you.” His eyebrows raised in confusion at my words and I slowly reached forward to take his hands in mine. “Loving you isn’t hard. In fact, I think it’s the easiest thing in the world. That’s why it was so hard for me to see how close you and Wednesday were getting. It reminded me that I’m replaceable. You had so much going on and all I saw was the tip of the iceberg.” He began to softly caress the back of my hand with his thumb and he rested his head on against my shoulder.
“I only fed into your fears. I should have told you. I’m so sorry, baby.” His eyes finally met mine and he inched forward until his lips were hovering next to mine. “I love you.” My eyes widened at his words.
“You said it.” He nodded with a wide smile on his place. “Please tell me I didn’t force you-“
“No, no. I mean it. I’ve felt it for a long time. I think the only reason I was afraid to say it is because every person I let in leaves.” He paused caressing my cheek. “I don’t want you to leave.” With a wide smile and a swelled heart, I pressed my lips firmly against him.
“Never.” One simple word but it was a promise I was bound to keep.

Nocturne ramblings, with spoilers
(This is NOT a rant post. Nor specifically a spoiler post. I'm just making observations and babbling shit about some of the characters in Nocturne thus far.)
I did a spoiler-free ramble post, now time for the other side of the coin, just to let loose a bit...
**SPOILERS** ahoy for Castlevania: Nocturne, S1.
Vampires in general
I'm very happy to see some souped up vampires. Let's face it, the majority of them in the original animation weren't exactly impressive. They were basically people with pointy teeth and like 1 special ability. The fact that 2 1/2 humans could walk into a castle and just waste twenty or thirty of them without taking damage (other than Alucard taking a fist to the mug) felt a bit lackluster.
Oh, but there's a LOT of vampires touching sunlight that aren't going up in flames. You can't just hold a parasol over one and expect them not to combust : p
Olrox
I said it before, but seriously, give a raise to whoever did his character design. He's absolutely delicious. Those cheekbones! The dragon's eyes! I want to roll myself in his hair like a bug in a rug then slap those meaty thighs...
Tumblr media
I've also watched all his interactions with Mizrak again. I don't understand how the two of them make so much more sense (given that they literally went from "You know my name, tell me yours" to fucking to "I don't love you" to … maybe I do…), than like, canon pairing Richter and Annette, who feel about as compelling as a piece of dry toast.
I truly hope he continues playing a little on both sides of the fence. It makes him so much more interesting than the majority of the characters who are simply on one side or the other.
Juste
I admit I got all excited thinking he was Alucard in a glamour at first, because when you first see his eyes, there's a gold gleam (of course the second he touched the whip I went, "Ahh, it's Juste.")
Tumblr media
I'm sure it's more that his eyes appear to be a very light gray and catch any candle/firelight, but I'd rather think that the animators were being cheeky and hiding a reference to the fact that when HoD came out, some fans were convinced Juste was Alucard's son.
Talking about who looks like who's offspring, uh… I almost question if Maxim was doing some sneaking. Doesn't Julia look more like Maxim?? Since they threw out Vampire Killer clause #1, why not throw out the rest of it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I mean... really, who would you think was daddy?)
Also… I honestly do feel badly for Juste. He's always been one of the forgotten Belmonts, but maybe he was better off forgotten as I think most headcanons imagined him living a quiet retirement with his wife and their husband, surrounded by a massive stockpile of overly gaudy home furnishings, with little grandson Richter visiting and getting lost in all the furniture : )
Maria
I already made mention of the fact that she's all of 12 in game canon (and apparently 16 in Nocturne), which makes it all the more awkward that her future boyfriend's already made his appearance when she hasn't even hit her teens yet. I mean… how is that going to work?
Tumblr media
(Sorry, can't resist reusing this, Richter's reaction is too funny.)
I feel ya, bro.
Tera
I was so young and naive when I read The Scarlet Letter that I didn't actually get what it was about at the time lol… actually took me years to figure it out. And… yeah, that's it. That's my comment.
Emmanuel (the abbot)
This guy will never get the death he actually deserves. It'll probably be something relatively quick, like falling into a pit of lava *shrug*
Drolta
Kind of a shame to off her so soon. Her latex collection was impressive.
Erzsebet
Carmilla?
And of course, Alucard
Okay, I get that he probably just woke up, but maybe a few strokes with a hairbrush before you run out the door, eh buddy?
Tumblr media
Compare to Alucard in the mini artbook/manga for SotN (look at those crisp curls!) waking up after his 300 year nap:
Tumblr media
I don't mind the "washed out" palette as much as others do. He was pretty much the textbook definition of pale in SotN anyhow.
Actually it would've been really damn funny if he'd showed up in his pajamas, screaming, "I hope I'm not too… wait, what year is it?" *looks at Maria* "Fuck I'm too early!"

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
Being called out to suburbia was the last thing Beau wanted to do. However, duty calls. That double homicide rolled into a serial killer. The Neighborhood Killer was what his deputies started calling him. Not a good name but not bad either—whoever the killer was certainly liked making a mess in neighborhoods.
Since the case had the highest priority, that meant Beau had to check out the crime scene with Poppernack and Jenny. The scene was bloody, a mom and dad massacred while their teenage child was out. Lucky for them.
Taking it upon himself, Beau wanted to talk to a few neighbors just to see if they could fill in any gaps, and give a few leads. He and Jenny made their way to the third house that evening. He knocked on the door. Beau could tell it was painted over in black. In fact, the whole house was dark—deep blue shutters, dark gray siding, black roofing, and a carob mat that had something on it in a language he couldn't read.
The door was opened to reveal Kiera. Beau’s eyes widened at the sight of her. For the past week, Kiera had been slowly opening up to Beau but not enough for her to tell him where she lived. He didn't mind. Except this was one hell of a way to figure that out. Her eyes narrowed at the blonde woman next to Beau as she closed the door slightly.
“Hello, I'm Deputy Jenny Hoyt with the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's department and this is—” Jenny started.
“I know.” Kiera cut her off, staring at Jenny.
Beau coughed to grab her attention. “Do you mind if we come in?” He asked politely.
Kiera pursed her lips and then sighed. She stepped away from the door to let the pair inside.
As soon as Beau stepped inside he was hit with a smell he could only describe as expensive. Kiera’s home matched her well. There were black satin drapes on the windows, mismatched rugs on deep wooden floors, homemade tapestries and vintage pin-up posters hung on walls, and quite a few old but restored floor-length candelabras that were tucked into the corner of rooms.
Kiera led them into the living room where a plush black sectional sat with a brown and white quilt draped over the side. And a child played in the middle of the room. She wore the complete opposite color palette of her mother—a pink-knit sweater and light-washed jeans.
That must have been Dalia. Beau knew of her after his fourth visit to the café. “Should she be here for this?” He asked softly as he and Jenny sat.
Kiera shook her head. “She'll be fine.”
Jenny stared at them, a little confused at their interactions. She'd never seen Beau and this woman together. She knew of Kiera. Everyone did. She was the only person who wore all black every single day for miles. She also knew of the urban legends that seem to sprout because of it. About how Kiera was secretly Satan or something of that nature who wanted to get revenge on the white man for what they did to her people and that Dalia was the antichrist because she had this way of speaking that did not sound at all like a seven-year-old should sound. Kiera and Dalia had only lived in Helena for a few years. A few long years.
Jenny knew not to trust what other people said because it could be completely untrue but it was hard considering the toys Dalia was playing with. A few wooden dolls which, in itself, wasn't too crazy but it was how they were decorated that unsettled her. One looked to be a direct replica of Kiera—dark clothes, long hair with a quarter of it blonde—another looked similar to Beau with an outfit she was sure to have seen him in before, and one with completely blonde hair and a blue jacket—Jenny.
“Okay, uh,” Jenny shifted her eyes from Dalia and landed on Kiera. “There's a killer on the loose, murdered a few of your neighbors. Keith and Julia. Can you tell us about anyone who may want to hurt them?”
Kiera shrugged. “Not really. Me and my neighbors don't really… go together.” She admitted with a sigh.
Beau glanced over at Dalia who seemed to be paying more attention to the black and brown-haired dolls while the blonde one sat untouched. He looked at Kiera. “Why’s that?”
Kiera’s jaw clenched as she looked between the two officers. “Have you looked at me?” Oh, yes, he had. “Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm a Native woman in an all-white neighborhood who has a daughter that creeps everyone out. My relationship with my neighbors ain’t exactly gonna be pretty.”
Beau cocked an eyebrow before he took another look at Dalia. She seemed fine to him. “What kind of lawyer are you?” Kiera’s eyebrows furrowed. Why did he need to know that? “Just for my own curiosity.”
“I do civil suits, mostly.” Kiera responded.
Something inside Beau calmed. Kiera wouldn't be involved in criminal cases. Hopefully safe. Kiera didn't fit the Neighborhood Killer’s M.O. anyway—a nuclear family with a mom and dad, a kid or two. Jenny looked at him weirdly. He knew why. It had nothing to do with the case, it had everything to do with easing his peace of mind.
Dalia appeared next to Kiera who promptly lifted her onto the couch. “Your case is cold because you're looking in the wrong spots. The children are always left alive, aren't they? That has to be on purpose.”
Beau blinked in astonishment. Dalia’s voice was small and monotone and spoke a lot more complicated words than he would've thought would come out of a seven-year-old mouth. He looked at Kiera, confused.
“Dalia has a knack for knowing things.” Kiera explained with a shrug.
“She says it's because I have autism. Which means she has it too.” Dalia said matter-of-factly.
Beau shook his head slightly, feeling whiplashed. The questioning died down after that with Jenny making a beeline for the door. She looked uncomfortable in the house. Like something, or someone, was weighing her down.
As Kiera walked Beau to the door, he turned back to her. “You got yourself an interesting child, huh?” He teased softly.
Kiera leaned against the door frame, giving Beau an unimpressed look. “If this is your way of trying to say I need to put Dalia in a mental hospital, it's not gonna work.” She crossed her arms.
“No, not at all. She's cute.” Beau smiled. Her personality seemed to have been switched with what one would assume was Kiera's—cold, hard, creepy, and a little too interested in the supernatural. “Dressed in all pink and saying weird shit, really weeds out the bad guys huh?”
“Usually,” Kiera had a confused look on her face as she stared at Beau. “If anything, she might've gotten the antichrist thing from her mother.” Beau could tell she wasn't referring to herself. He thought she was single. The question must've been on his face because she continued. “I didn't birth Dalia. She's mine but… not in that way, I guess.”
Beau cocked his head, not exactly catching on. “Not in what way?”
“When a boy and a girl love each other very much…” Kiera joked softly. He still didn't seem to get it. “Beau, I have a dick. I'm not the one who got pregnant.”
Beau's eyes lit up with recognition before he nodded. “Right, yeah.” He snapped his fingers. Then it set in a little. Kiera was transgender. Among all the other things that made up her identity. “So why's she with you?” He asked softly.
Again, Kiera seemed a little surprised that Beau had not run off yet. “Not completely sure. I fucked around when I was younger. I'm not sure who her mother is, Dalia just kinda showed up on my doorstep like in the fucking movies and she became a part of my life. She's mine. I can say that for sure.” She explained with a wave of her hands.
Dalia scampered over, taking her place next to Kiera. “Can I make potions in the backyard?” She asked as she looked up at her mother.
“Yes, sweetie. But be careful.” Kiera warned softly, squeezing her arm. “If you make another potion with fire, Missy’s gonna call the cops.”
A crease formed between Beau's eyebrows. Missy must've been a neighbor but he was more concerned about the fire.
“I won't, mama. I'm gonna make a love potion.” Dalia said excitedly, holding the doll that looked a lot like Beau. He chose not to dwell on it. She ran off into the house.
Kiera watched her before her gaze shifted back to Beau. “She's more social than usual,” Her eyes narrowed at the sheriff. “Must be something in the air.”
Beau shrugged and stood there awkwardly since they didn't have much else to talk about. He wanted the moment to last a little longer though. He had to say something. Anything. His eyes shifted down Kiera’s body. The shirt she wore was long-sleeved but had a deep neckline which showed off her cleavage and her black pants were belted tightly in a way that showed off her waist. What about her clothes? He could make a comment on that.
“You're—uh—you work from home?” Beau’s brain short-circuited.
Kiera cocked a pierced eyebrow at him. “No. Today's a weekend, I have those off.”
“Yeah, yeah, sorry, I remember you told me.” Beau smacked the side of his head and gave her a lop-sided smile.
Kiera creaked the door closed and stepped outside with Beau. “Look, I know where this is going.” She admitted softly and Beau swore his heart stopped. He didn't want to be let down by Kiera and he'd beg for another chance if that was the case. “But I'm not going to fulfill whatever fantasy is in your head. I have a kid to think about and I'd rather be single and alone than in a relationship with someone who just wants me for some sort of fetish.”
“Wait, what?” That had never even crossed Beau's mind. “Not until a minute ago did I know, or even care to know, what was in your pants.” He argued softly. “I feel,” He took a deep breath, “For the first time in a while that I like someone. You're beautiful, smart, an excellent mother by the looks of it, you're incredibly funny, and—shit—I don't know, the first time I looked at you, I felt light. Like a feather.”
Kiera stared at Beau, pursing her lips. He could see the cogs turning behind her black eyes. “You mean that, don't you?”
“God can strike me down if I don't.” Beau said with a breath.
Kiera glanced up at the sky and tilted her head a little at Beau. “Guess that means you do,” She bit on the inside of her cheek. “Alright, cowboy, I'll grant you a date.”
Beau swore he could float in the clouds. “Yeah, that’s—okay!” He wanted to celebrate but he refrained. “I'll, um,” He coughed, trying to gather his thoughts. He was over the moon and Kiera could tell. “Tomorrow, it's Sunday, we're both off?” She nodded. “Awesome! I'll pick you up at six, head over to my trailer, I'll grill something—I’m not too good at cooking but I make an awesome steak,” Kiera pursed her lips. Did she not like steak? “Or, uh, whatever else is your speed?” He suggested shyly.
“I'm joking,” Kiera waved him off with a smile. “A steak sounds nice.” She said warmly.
Beau drew in a breath. Since knowing Kiera, her tone had always been clipped or to the point with him, not warm. He had to resist the urge to kiss her. He had a feeling that was her more natural voice and he couldn't stop himself from falling in love with it. Or her.
“You scored a date? Finally!” Emily screamed over the phone later that night. Beau had figured out how to FaceTime her after deciding he'd love to see her reaction to the news. “Please, you have to take pictures of her. I need to know what she looks like. She sounds so cool!”
Beau chuckled as he put his feet up on the green cooler in front of him. Yet again, he was on his homemade porch surrounded by warm light, the stars, and the forest. “I will, kiddo, but I haven't exactly had the chance yet.”
“I need to know.” Emily practically begged. “Especially if I'm gonna be calling her step-mom soon.” She teased.
Beau's eyes widened. “Woah there, Em. It's one date,” He had to remind himself of that fact too. “And she's… still guarded. It's better but not by much.”
Emily nodded then pursed her lips as she set her elbows on her desk. “Just keep being you, Dad. I can tell she likes you, just by the way you talk about her. She's just… scared I guess. As the child of a single mom—and dad—I think I’d understand how hard it is to let someone in your life when you have a child. But, again, there is the whole you're a cop thing.” She explained.
“God, you're wise. It definitely don't come from me.” Beau chuckled. He liked having Emily, talking to her made him open his eyes sometimes. Simultaneously, he could forget about the world.
Emily shook her head, a smile on her face. “I think so. You got the cowboy wisdom,” She teased. “Like you feel a change in the air in your knees.”
Beau laughed quietly, rolling his eyes. “You were born in Texas too, why don't you have that?” He argued.
“I'm sixteen. I'll probably get that once I hit thirty.” Emily winked.
Beau smiled and then looked down at his lap. He hoped he'd see Emily hit that milestone. Hell, he hoped he'd see Emily hit every milestone. Her twenties, her first day of college, her last, her thirties, her first big girl job. He wanted to be there for her. A part of him was glad she was there for him.
“I know that look,” Emily interjected his thoughts, voice softer. “I’m still young, Dad. And we have all the time in the world.” Beau nodded in acknowledgment. He knew that yet, at the same time, it felt like the days were passing him by. “I hope Kiera helps you slow down. Your brain is moving way too fast.”
Beau sighed, shaking his head. “Can't help it, kiddo. That's just who I am.”
“A restless man?” Emily bit her lip, jaw clenched softly. She knew her father liked to bury himself in work. Even if the work was slow. It was part of the reason he stayed in Helena, there were too many ghosts in Houston and he had to run away.
Beau shrugged. “Yeah.” He wasn't always like that.
Emily could remember a time when he came home and there was a bright light in his eyes, where he took his time. The light was still there, just dimmed for a while. Until Beau met Kiera. That light was reignited and Emily couldn't be happier for him. He just needed a few pushes here and there. Her father was a hopeless romantic so he didn't need too much help. But Beau was also hard on himself. He didn't want to mess up.
“You’re not. At least, not really.” Emily argued softly. “You need a place to put your cowboy boots.”
Beau rubbed his forehead. He needed to hear that even if his first instinct was to argue back. “I'll talk to you tomorrow.” He sighed.
“Okay.” Emily mumbled. She could tell she hit a nerve.
“Love you, g'night.” Beau waved.
Emily nodded, lips forming a thin line. “Love you too. Night.”
Beau's screen went black as he took a deep breath. He didn't want to talk about his life in Houston with Emily and he had a nagging feeling he messed up by ignoring it. Yet again.
Beau pushed a hand through his hair as he pocketed his phone and strolled his way inside his trailer. There were books about being a father and he'd read them when Carla first got pregnant but they never prepared him for this. The overwhelming guilt of feeling like he had failed his daughter. He yearned to be open with Emily but he didn't want her to worry about him. He was a grown man, her father, it was his job to protect her. It seemed he failed in that department anyway.
Kiera: sleep well, beau. i look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
His phone buzzed on the counter in front of him. Beau tapped on the screen. The simple message sent a shiver down his spine.
Maybe Emily was right. Kiera would teach him how to slow down the restless man he thought he was.

Ship predictions: someone will probably be in love with Scary Girl. Really hope Ripper is not Bowie's love interest.

Review: ‘Madame Web’ is actually a good movie. Yes, really.
I'm not gonna lie: while I was heading to the theater, I was concerned going into “Madame Web.” The majority of X, formerly known as Twitter, users seemed to be against what they saw as meager storylines and weak writing, characters, and performances, especially compared to other Sony/Marvel superhero movies, so I was hesitant. I was expecting “Madame Web” to be a lot worse than it was, but a few good performances and strong found family themes elevate “Madame Web” above some lesser Sony/Marvel superhero movies.
Columbia Pictures’ “Madame Web” was released in theaters on Feb. 14 and follows Cassandra Webb (played by Dakota Johnson), a paramedic in New York City. Webb finds herself having to protect three teenagers from Ezekiel Sims, a murderous adversary with superhuman powers who is hunting them.
“Madame Web” is set in 2003 and sort of pays homage to the conventions of the comic book movies of that era. The muted color palette and minimalistic special effects are all designed to remind viewers of movies like 2002’s “Spider-Man” or 2003’s “Daredevil.”
Also, like many of those movies, Webb is depicted as aloof and antisocial, with her friend having to drag her to social gatherings. Occasionally, with these characters it doesn’t feel realistic, but Johnson really sells it which makes it all the better when she finally finds her chosen family.
The other star of “Madame Web” is Adam Scott. I’ll admit that Scott and his glorious deadpan was half of the reason why I actually watched the movie in the first place, and he absolutely killed it as Ben Parker, a name most Spider-Man fans will recognize.
That’s the other thing about Sony’s recent Spider-Man Universe — it doesn’t have Spider-Man, but it gets really close. Sony is trying to convince people that its movies are in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they’re not. It is this confusion that is driving audiences away from its movies after films like “Morbius,” which was both a critical and commercial failure. It’s a shame too, because with better marketing more people might be able to actually enjoy this movie.
I mentioned that Adam Scott was half the reason I wanted to watch “Madame Web,” the other half was because of Isabela Merced. Merced, known for her starring role as Dora the Explorer in 2019’s “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” brings layers to the role of Anya Corazon, who was my favorite of the three girls. The A-plus-student Corazon was one of my favorite characters in the 2017 “Spider-Man” animated series. Still, Merced portrays her as more than just an intellectual here, which I appreciated.
Sydney Sweeney and Celeste O’Connor were okay as Julia Cornwall and Mattie Franklin, but the script doesn’t give them much to do other than be a goody-two-shoes and a rebel, respectively.
The writing for “Madame Web” is kind of basic. The hero gets powers that she can’t control, finds the other main characters and must come into her power to save them – it’s all been done before. I am willing to forgive it, though, because of the ending.
I’m a sucker for the found family trope. It’s one of my favorites and “Madame Web” is a great example of it. Webb is initially reluctant to save the girls, but after learning that their real families have abandoned or left them, she takes it upon herself to protect them. By the end, Webb accepts Corazon, Cornwall and Franklin as her chosen family.
The villain in “Madame Web” is also bland. Sims sees a vision of Corazon, Cornwall and Franklin killing him, which is fine, but what I don’t get is why he doesn’t just try to talk to them first, instead of going right to hunting them.
I also thought the dialogue mixing for him was off. Whenever he spoke in voiceover, it sounded much deeper than his actual voice.
There was a lot of good humor in “Madame Web.” Johnson and Scott have a good rapport as Webb and Parker, with Scott stealing the spotlight in every scene he is in. The girls also have good chemistry.
The music was surprisingly good. I appreciated the use of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” as a plot device, and Tiffany’s cover of “I Think We’re Alone Now” was also appropriate for the scene, because they were, in fact, alone.
Unlike most of X, I actually enjoyed “Madame Web.” If you ignore what people on the Internet say, maybe you will too.

KING FROM TEKKEN!!! for the ask game
Yknow what Im gonna do all of them.
KING FROM TEKKEN‼️‼️‼️
• My first impression of them
I dont know enough about tekken to know if its a mask of if he just has an actual goddamn jaguar head. I mean kazuya's a demon, anything is possible
• When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
The man wanna win the prize money for his orphanage how can you not like the guy??? Also look at him???
• A song that reminds me of them
I could pick an actual song but I'm just gonna make you listen to King I and King II's themes
youtube
youtube
• How many people I ship them with
mmmh one? I'm not like, super passionate about it but King I and Armor King I is fun. While I dont ship King II with anybody.
• My favorite ship of them
Again, King I/Armor King I wins by default
• My least favorite ship of them
King II/Marduk, like good on King for being a good person and not getting revenge on the guy that killed his sick mentor (/father figure) on account of Marduk having a family and eventually being touched by King's mercy and turning his life around but King, baby you can do better tag-team wise.
• A quote of them that you remember
Tumblr media
• Your favorite outfit of them
oh look at those, those are all King II btw
Tumblr media
his t3 p2 outfit. I love it bc 1) its a classic and 2) it shows he got trained by Armor King
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His t5 outfit, the black and gold is SO GOOD but Im also really fond of the blue and gold (of COURSE I am) bc the blue reminds me of the outfits of King I in t2
Tumblr media
and finally t8 King because look at him. The feathers. The pleasing color palette. I love him.
• Your least favorite outfit of them
Tumblr media
His t4 outfit. King honey this is Not It.
• Describe the character in one sentence
Tumblr media
• What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character?
KING FROM TEKKEN‼️‼️‼️
• Sexuality hc!
I dont have any ngl. I just know the mask stays on during sex
• Your favorite friendship they have
KING II, ARMOR KING II AND JULIA CHANG/JAYCEE... THE WRESTLER TRIO plus its confirmed canon that theyre friends 🥹...
• Best storyline they had
The upmost hilarity of the plot where after King II gave up on his revenge against Marduk bc he killed his mentor Armor King I and the latter turned better for it, ANOTHER Armor King turned up and when King II and Marduk confronted that new Armor King, they found out he was the brother of the first Armor King... and that whole scene they speak in nothing but jaguar roars.
• Worst storyline they had
King doesnt have a bad storyline other than being in tekken 💛🐆💙
• A childhood headcanon
King II was in the orphanage of King I and when King II was scared or needed to be brave or smth like that, King I would let him wear the mask, making King II the one who saw the most of King I's face. I also think both Kings were orphans.
• What do you think their first word was?
Tumblr media
• How do you think they were as a kid? (Like, were they shy, noisy, wild, etc)
I like to think King II was a big kid already compared to the rest of the orphans and he was really self-conscious about accidentaly hurting them, so he made an effort to be gentle and a big-brother figure. If you're familiar, think Raph from rottmnt.
• The most random ship you've seen people have with them
I think Ive seen some art of King with Felicia from darkstalkers and the also named King from kof
• A weird headcanon
He can communicate with actual jaguars, they would accept him as one of their own
• When do you think they were at their happiest?
When King I and the kids (including King II) sat down and watch some wrestlemania. Also of course when King wins enough money to spoil his kids.
• When do you think they were at their lowest?
Obvious for King I, in t2 when one of his orphans die and when the orphanage runs out of money, and as for King II, when Armor King is killed.
• Future headcanon
I WANT KING II AND ARMOR KING II TO MAKE UP SO BAD. PLEASE.
• What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone?
Idk the most obvious one is what his face looks like.
• When do you think they acted the most ooc
In the TTT2 opening. Marduk is facing Armor King II and he is facing Jaycee, granted we dont actually KNOW what he tells Jaycee but considering he towers over her and makes hand gestures, he might be provoking? which doesnt make sense, hes a face. (Or he could just have recognized Julia and she had to promptly amically shut him up with a kick in the balls)
• When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?
Honestly when his costumes reflect on his mexican heritage! Also hes the most himself in the ring
• If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet?
King in mortal kombat I want him to wipe the floor with Kintaro
• The most unnecessary thing they ever did?
Nothing King does is unnecessary💛🐆💙
• How do you think they would be as a parent? (and if they are a parent, how do you think they would be if they weren't?)
Both Kings are foster fathers of like 20+ kids, making King the best father of tekken
• The funniest scene they had?
When King II finds the picture of both Armor Kings and everything is conveyed by zooms on his jaguar mask

Met Gala 2023 Presented By Me
With this year's theme being "in honor of Karl Lagerfeld", a fashion designer whom I'm learning from the fashion community is "ew", lets see what we got:
~The Models~
-Rihanna being fashionably late, wearing an egg?-like top that opens to reveal a simple yet beautiful dress (she's got a baby bump!); the "no shit" was iconic honestly
-Jared Leto fursuit (its cause he was dressing as Lagerfeld's cat)
-Harvey Guillen coming through with a lovely floral suit, I'm not usually one for light pink but his was very pretty
-Who let Lil Nas X have access to the arts and crafts box (but he looked stunning, the mask was gorgeous and he's got more confidence than most to pull off what I'm now calling a Full Bedazzle)
-Kristen Stewart going full butch queer, the eyebrows and hair were rugged inspired and most didn't like it but I think that was the point?
-Pedro Pascal and his knee against the world (as well as spreading the red is superior agenda cause it is)
-^ but with Salma Hayek cause holy shit this is the red agenda
-Bryan Tyree Henry continuing to remind me how much my taste in men has improved over the years because he is so fucking fine ANYWAY-
-Lizzo giving me feminine gender envy despite the odds
-Janelle Monae doing a Janelle Monae as is customary (I'd love to know what the inspo was for her if so let me know!)
-Bella Ramsey you are so gender thank you (and they served too, the Thom Browne suit with the white accents is simple yet very classy)
-Every year I give one (1) free pass for a man to wear a standard suit, this year goes to Ke Huy Quan because I couldn't say anything bad about him if I tried (at least he had some style, the fingerless gloves were cool)
-Obligatory Gwendoline Christie was there and existed comment by me because I am in love and I am not ashamed of it
-Florence Pugh's fit had mixed reactions, the shaved head, headdress and white dress look were really good but I think the way the dress came out had people not fully digging it, I can understand but I'll appreciate it nonetheless
-Anne Hathaway in all her fuzzy glory (the hair's a beehive on a very felted dress but like it worked? marks for originality and being able to pull it off)
-Loved Stephanie Hsu's bedazzled suit, won't be able to stop thinking about it actually
-Tems was stunning, I'm a huge fan of the floating leaves design we need more nature-inspired looks
-Olivier Rousteing and Jeremy pope slaying with their "Karl who?" and cape apparel
-Gotta shout out Yara Shahidi for going with something unique, the pearl's color palette works surprisingly better than I expected with the gold (personally I would have more gold trim in the top half but that's just me)
-Let Lady Gaga's outfit for the Met Gala this year be a lesson in misinformation because the pictures circulating Tumblr are not in fact from the 2023 Met, she didn't attend (it is a stunning outfit though)
-Jenna Ortega looking almost like a dapper pirate in the absolute best way possible the gender envy the style I am going insane
-Doja Cat living up to her name (Cats should take notes honestly the makeup was really good. She also kept answering reporter questions by meowing. Because she's Doja. Anyway.)
-Anok Yai's dress reminds me of those ornate beaded lampshades, I wonder if that's where she/her designer got the idea
-Emily Blunt giving me gay panic once again WHY IS SHE SO GORGEOUS (she's got a giant fucking bow tie that's what clowns wear why is she able to pull it off this is so unfair)
-Conan Gray looked like an actual prince I am obsessed
-I saw someone said Cardi B was giving goth Barbie and that is honestly the best way to describe it
-Yung Miami having a beautiful look cause her outfit was underrated this year
-I thought Emily Blunt and Bryan Tyree Henry were all I had to worry about and then Julia Garner came in with a steel chair
-Ella Fanning's look captivating me specifically
-And cause I can't comment on every person or we'd be here all day, go check out the underrated outfits from Amanda Seyfried, Alton Mason, Glenn Close, Sora Choi, Ava Max, Jessica Chastain, Taika Waititi and many more!
~Final Thoughts~
-The palette this year was very black and white... literally. Lots of outfits in black, white, or both. I'm not really into the fashion community so I wouldn't know but I'm guessing its a signature theme of Lagerfeld's? Let me know! I'm always down to learn more about other communities and their history
-I'm also assuming Lagefeld's got a thing for flowers cause there were a lot of flowers imbedded into the outfits, they looked lovely~
-As well as long flowy dress/coat tops cause there were a lot, and I loved how people mixed it in with the flowers. Lots of the men did it this year and it looked fantastic
-Speaking of, I'm proud of the men for actually dressing up this year omfg its insane how many male celebrities will go to a literal fashion event and pull up with nothing but a plain ass suit and though most of them this year did wear suits, there was much pizazz. Like, actual life put into those outfits. So yeah, you love to see it
-Overall, a very nice Met Gala. The crazy stuff came from the usual people who go all out, and we got plenty of highlights from people who embraced the theme, with the occasional unique look to really stick it out
Thank for reading and see you all next fashion event!

Tumblr media
Llewellyn woke with a stabbing pain in his head. Strange, as he didn't think he drank enough wine to have a hangover. The first time he drank wine, legally, he was lost in testing his palette and ended up experiencing such a horrible hangover that William took pity on him and let him sleep for the day. Later times, he knew where to stop. He thought he stopped early enough last night, because the bottle he had tasted off. Something had been added to it.
Perhaps it hadn't been something to make it more palatable to those with no ability to stand the reds.
His mattress was harder than it should have been, and opening his eyes showed that it was not his mattress. He was lying on a thin pad, something that he had in his hideout before Liza and William took him in. His constable's jacket was gone, as was the multi-tool that William got him for his 21st birthday. His watch, badge, wallet. Nothing had been left in his pockets. Even his shoes were gone.
"I have never been drunk enough to lose things," he muttered, sitting up. A couple of blinks and his mind wasn't imagining what was in front of him. It was bars. Twisting, he found himself completely surrounded by them. "Not in jail, then." The area he was in was small, barely enough for the pad. Outside of the bars was an incomplete room. A wall was almost gone, and another had a three by three foot hole taken out. There were wires and other strange items lying about.
"You are completely interesting," a voice commented. Glancing up, Llewellyn saw a man roughly around his age standing in the empty wall. His mind still muddled by the wine and additive, he barely realized that he should recognize him. "I wondered how one essentially raised by William Murdoch would act in a distressing situation."
Llewellyn held up a finger. "Was this before or after you calculated the sedative added to my wine which is still active in my system?" he asked, upset about the tampering. That was a glass of possibly good wine that he wanted after a poor day patrolling.
The other man laughed, "Oh, you have a mouth. I like that." A simple chair was produced from the other side of the wall and he sat in it so he was across. "Perhaps I should wait until both are worked out of you, but I couldn't help coming over when you started waking." Taking out a paper, he unfolded it and lightly waved it. "After seeing you and William, I had to find out the truth. Robert said that you were nothing more than an errand boy, but I knew that wasn't it. And then I found this. Elizabeth Milner and William Murdoch agree to become the legal guardians to Llewellyn Watts. September second, Eighteen-Ninety One. Fourteen years old, why so late?"
He studied the paper in the other man's hand and realized it was the one that he went searching for when he first became a Constable. Admittedly to also steal from the local records so no one would be able to connect himself and William. "You took it," he said, frowning at this villain having such an incriminating document. "I was looking for that."
He smiled. "Why?" Llewellyn almost spilled, but then realized that he would be admitting to stealing a government document. The man chuckled. "Did you plan on hiding such an important document from someone like me?"
Ahh, hmm. "Yes." And the Constabulary, possibly. He was technically a a relative of William's, that would be problematic if he ever wanted to work with him on the force. Not like they would deviate in their ways of work if they were to ever partner up.
No, they wouldn't act differently. Too much.
"Well, that didn't work out well for you." Llewellyn's head was cleaning out a bit, and something was starting to become a little bit clearer. Namely, who the person was in front of him.
It was James Gillies.
He didn't interact with the man at all, surprising since he buried Julia the last time. William was terrified that he would go after George or Llewellyn, considering how close he was to them. Jackson had gone and walked with him for the day while they tried to hunt down Gillies and bring Julia back to safety. He liked Jackson. Sturdy fellow. Didn't take shit from the other Constables of One. A good conversationalist.
He now saw why William was worried for everyone else around him. Gillies managed to get his wine cup drugged and must have had help to get him here, wherever he was being kept. He watched William after their first meeting and saw Llewellyn, went searching for the guardianship papers and stole them. That is likely the reason Sally didn't know about me. Otherwise she would have used that again William. A sliver of fear started sprouting, but it wasn't enough to rattle Llewellyn just yet. He didn't know what Gillies's plan was yet, but it didn't look the greatest. "No, it didn't. I'm still working on it."
Gillies grinned, darker than a normal person's. His fear was already growing a bit. "Well, you won't have to worry about that for a bit. You're not going anywhere for awhile." How long? He stood up and took the chair with him. Llewellyn waited until he wasn't in sight or earshot to bring up his legs and bury his head. After letting out a few shaky breaths, he stood up. Wobbly, he held onto the bars as he looked around.
There was no visible lock or door. The bottom of the cage was also bars, which wasn't nice on his feet. The top seemed to be hinged. There isn't a good way to lower items and people from the top. Unless he planned on just dropping someone in. That would injure whomever he planned on. Seeing how 'attached' Gillies was, it would likely be William. At the end of his thread with the pain at his feet and his head aching again, he went back to the pad and dropped down.
Hearing something rattling where Gillies had gone, Llewellyn had the feeling he wasn't getting out soon. If at all.
-
The woman that walked in was a surprise.
Llewellyn had been given a small chunk of bread and tea before Gillies proclaimed he had errands to run. Both were finished quite quickly. He knew at the moment, his food and drink wouldn't be laced with anything. The man needed him alive, and awake for the most part.
She gracefully managed to get over the ledge that still blocked the lower half of the giant hole in the wall. A nice dress, in a light, soft green with white lace, it was something that a richer woman would wear. He looked up, expecting to see Sally Pendrick. I wouldn't be surprised, they probably had a shared dislike of William. The face shocked him, as it was Julia's. He almost jumped in joy until he saw that she didn't talk. At all.
Julia always greeted him when he visited down in the morgue, on the street if she managed to be where he patrolled, when she visited William at the boarding house.
She wasn't talking, wasn't trying to get him out. Too still for seeing Llewellyn in a cage and being in danger, again. So much was wrong that he backed up away from her, admittedly just hitting the bars right behind him. "You're not Julia," he muttered.
"Oh, drat, and I was hoping that she would pass," Gillies complained, coming up behind her. "What was it? She needs to be close to the real Julia as possible." Llewellyn didn't want to give him any ideas. He didn't like the fact he wasn't getting answers, and proceeded to grab Llewellyn's hair through the bars, pulling it and holding him in place. "What. Did. I. Do. Wrong?"
He hissed, "She didn't talk, didn't act like her."
"Oh well," he said, letting going and letting Llewellyn drop his head forward and away from him, "That's not what I was worried about. The face, though. Did it look like her?" He grabbed the back off Llewellyn's shirt to bring him back and force him to look again, holding his head in place. "Am I close?"
One second, two. "I thought it was her when she walked in."
He chuckled, finally stopping the torment. "Good. Penelope, you are doing splendidly. Why don't you have a lunch? Put up the dress, we'll need it for later." There wasn't a smile on the face, the mask not able to do so just yet. But, he could tell she was happy, and left without the same grace she had coming in.
-
"So, how did William and you meet?"
Llewellyn looked up from his folded arms. Gillies had started working installing a clock over the smaller hole, which he explained was going to be outfitted with a specific mirror that he had yet to get his hands on. He hadn't explained anything about what he was doing, even if he wanted feedback about how things looked. He only knew about the mirror because he had faked being asleep when the man walked in muttering about it.
"At his boarding house," he said. It was technically the truth.
The man looked over at him. "Oh, hilarious," he noted, "Come on, tell me the story of little Llewellyn Watts met the Detective that took him in and gave him a home. I could always use a little heartwarming story."
Llewellyn didn't want to tell the story to James Gillies. He's, he's never really told the story to anyone 'important.' George and Henry had a condensed version after he showed up beside William a couple of times. Julia knew. Liza told her during one of the check up visits after his kidnapping. Brackenreid was told the story when he barged in to find out why his detective wasn't coming in and found him and Julia giving Llewellyn a cold bath to reduce his fever. As far as he knew, he was sleeping on William when it happened.
He definitely didn't want to tell the man that buried Julia.
Sighing, Gillies stopped trying to mount the clock, which was a pain as the thing was heavy. I'll need a second person for this anyhow. Oh, what I wouldn't do for another Robert. Instead of getting a chair, he set up the board that he used to give food to his captive. A cup was filled with lukewarm tea and bread was shoved over while he had a cup and slice himself. "Llewellyn, I would really like to hear the story," he instructed.
He rarely gave out more than a single 'meal' a day. Llewellyn had to believe this was a 'bribe' to get information. And sadly enough, he was willing to take it. His hunger constantly gnawing at cycling levels. His head went between fuzzy and painful.
"The person that took me in after I had no family had to force me to leave," he started, straining out as much information as he could to prevent him from finding out about Huey. He was the last one he had left of the Marks. "I was on the streets for a couple of weeks before I searched for food on a street known for calling in street children. I didn't know. There was a woman doing her errands that was about to lose a pair of pants into a puddle, so I stopped it."
"So chivalrous."
"Instead of thanking me and continuing on, she placed their groceries into my arms and brought me along as an extra set of hands for the rest of her shopping." Gillies lightly laughed. "After she was done, she led the way back to their boarding house. She was cooking when William came home."
"Ooo, and he adopted you immediately once he saw you?"
A shake of the head. Curious. "He didn't appreciate his fiancee bringing home a street child. They had an argument about it, especially after he found out about the groceries shoved into my hands."
"Did they stop?" He nodded. "Why?"
"I hid under the table when his voice got louder. I was shaking and William must have seen what I felt, because he didn't argue anything after that."
"Fear?" he inquired. Llewellyn nodded. "You feared William at first?"
"One of the boarders where I lived broke my ribs," he explained, "After I had to leave, multiple people set me on edge by their mere presence."
James frowned. As much as he enjoyed taunting and going after adults surrounding William Murdoch, a child was over the line for him. The young girl he lured from her home was completely untouched. He bought her cake and gave the doll, after teaching her what to say. If he had started this earlier, it wouldn't have crossed his mind to target Llewellyn Watts. Hell, he likely would have just handed him cards and presents to deliver to Murdoch.
It also unlocked some troubling thoughts that he had about the relationship between his parents and several of the friends that they kept around when he saw their children with bruises. Wanting to work those out, he pushed the tray over and finished his side before using that new rage to lift the clock up and onto the anchor he had embedded in the wall. Llewellyn plucked and pulled apart the bread before chewing quickly and swallowing.
-
Finally, the mirror arrived. It was one of the last pieces James needed. Everything else was ready to come out, but he wasn't going to place any of it until Llewellyn was where he needed to be.
Which meant getting him in the enclosed room without having any trouble. It was unlikely that he would be willing to move over with a simple gun pointed at his back. He could get one of the thugs that he reached out to to move him by force. But he would rather not have to rely on another person. 'Penelope' was already taken care of and he didn't want to leave loose people around.
Another bottle of wine, the cup he had reserved for Llewellyn coated with the sedative he had used last time, and one for himself and he was sitting in front of the cage again. The look he got was filled with suspicion. Granted, it was well deserved. If he didn't have something planned for the man, Llewellyn would have made a wonderful detective to Toronto. "Trust me, you will want this option," he stated pouring the two out. "I could force you over with a gun, or a knife." Finding out about Christopher Lunderson, the killer that actually curtailed some of his activities when he was younger thanks to his parents keeping himself and Robert in, was a joy. Seeing some of the scars he acquired made him think about causing his own. "This is the peaceful one."
He disagreed. "Peaceful would be turning yourself and all the evidence of Julia's innocence into the Constabulary. With no weapons."
"Well, yes, I'm not going to do that." He sipped at his wine. A horrible brand and year. Or maybe that was because wine wasn't his thing. His father used to drink bourbon, which warmed him at every sip when he also indulged. "This is a step down from what you drink, so you know perfectly well what you're tasting is the sedative. I'm not 'ruining' another wine."
He still didn't touch it. James was losing a bit of patience. "Llewellyn, we have sixty hours before Julia will be hanged for her 'crime' of killing her husband," he said, the two knowing perfectly well she didn't do it, "You can drink, go to sleep for a while, and I can stage you up without any issues before getting William." He hadn't let him know the full 'game', just that William was choosing something. He figured one choice would be proof of evidence, but he didn't know the consequence. Llewellyn likely thought it had to do with him.
Oh, that was cute.
Knowing that Julia's life was on the line, he grabbed the offending cup and started sipping it. And then gagged. "How is this better than the first cup you drugged me with?" he demanded, tempted to spit everything out and pour it out.
"Well, I was told the wine is cheap. Better to not ruin another good cup." He kept drinking his, hating the taste. Llewellyn forced himself through half of it, before he started teetering. The cup was split, his hand unable to hold. It was working as intended, faster than last time. He crashed onto the pad, and barely saw Gillies standing up before falling asleep.
He woke up in a chair. Completely uncomfortable, it was a high straight back. The better for the chains wrapped around his chest to keep him up. His wrists were cuffed behind his back. Those are probably mine. His legs were free, not like it didn't matter. Llewellyn figured out quickly he was in the room linked by the three by three. That mirror apparently was one way, and he couldn't kick it to break it. He could see the cage he had been held in for weeks. There was someone new in it now. It didn't take James Pendrick to figure who it was.
"William!"

Axel Scheffler
Tumblr media
I looked at Axel Scheffler’s visual identity. His home page is various different characters he created for children’s books holding different signs to lead the viewer to the different areas of his website.
As a children’s book illustrator, Axel Scheffler has utilised his work in a clever way for his visual identity. This not only showcases a snapshot of his work, but is also an interesting and engaging way to guide the viewer around the website.
His logo is his name in a hand written style typeface. This is consistent across all of his work as this is how his name is credited on the front of children’s books he has illustrated, for example, the Julia Donaldson books.
He has used a simple colour palette for his website, allowing his illustrations to bring character to the website.

Addams Family Values (1993)
Tumblr media
A great family film, almost certainly watched with mine. It’s sweet how the Addams’ are remarkably loving and supportive despite their appearances. I thought that Raul Julia was very cool in this, in a way I couldn’t put my finger on at the time and was also amazed that fawning Fester was my old pal Dark from Back to the Future.
There was something unnerving I noticed in this film, and later in others, that I’d eventually be able to articulate as the garishness of Hollywood movies. I think it was a combination of the colour palette, lighting and perfect teeth of some 90s American movies that would sit uncomfortably with me until my taste developed enough for me to enjoy it on a more removed level.
Either my fourth or fifth sequel already (depending on the outcome of Honey, I Blew Up the Kid) less than twenty films into my cinematic career but, interestingly enough, I still don’t think I’ve ever seen the first film. This is true at the time of writing but I will try to remember to update if this changes. I’ve been told by a couple of sources that this one of those rare better second films. On top of that, they had the forethought to give it a name that avoids putting the number ‘2’ in the title so maybe I needn’t bother.

Layered Worlds-Visual research and development Task
Tumblr media
This is the image board that I collected using Pinterest, on the right side is some interesting stuffs for visual references, Deus Ex Machina( above) , and Artworks from Lin Kunhao(below). I found that for the similarity, seems I prefer the metallic texture in vivid colors. These vivid colors are kinda like " Acid Graphics Style"
Tumblr media
Julia Ballmann, Pppanik, 2009
As a result, I decided to use this style as my basic visual style and develop a response I made last week.
Tumblr media
I wanted to create a AI Brand that cross various industries such as Fashion, Home, and Food. First start with Fashion, I use MidJourney as my tool to generate tons of images and selected some artworks that I believed are successful. I revised my prompt several times:
I used some of the AI artworks did some digital color experiment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like this green colors in Lin Kunhao's cyber butterfly so I adjusted to having similar color palette and using this as my main visual color for the Brand. For the clothing part, this is the advertisement of virtual reality NFT clothing of the brand.
Tumblr media
This is the visual identity of this brand( shown above) It actually came from AI. In the one clothing draft I generated, there is the name of the clothes and lines of explanation. AI words are similar as English alphabet but a bit different. Some are like cube Sumero-Akkadian Cuneiform. Therefore I chose this name as AI named itself.

The AP Questionnaire: Heather Schatz
What was the last thing you made? A walking meditation.
What was the last thing you read? Contemporary Sculpture : Artists' Writings and Interviews edited by Jon Wood and Julia Kelly in collaboration with the Cragg Foundation, Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, Wuppertal 2019. The book presents writings and interviews by 50 contemporary artists. They share what sculpture means to them today and within the context of their practices. This is not a picture book as each artist or collaboration is only represented by a single image. The book is broken into sections titled: Objects, Materials and Processes; Modes of Figuration; and Spaces and Places. Krysten Cunningham presents a 1000 words that describe sculpture, Phyllida Barlow presents her lecture on Louise Bourgeois titled "The Sneeze of Louise" and Didier Vermeiren begins with "How and why I became a sculptor isn't of much interest" and continues to describe how "showing a work means making it." The book includes some names I was familiar with and others who are less known in the US. Some write their essays and others provide transcriptions of conversations. I keep this book out in my favorite reading spot, and revisit it again and again. It is a tool for understanding not just sculpture, but the minds behind its creation.
What was the last exhibition you saw? ”Sifting & Reckoning”: UW–Madison’s History of Exclusion and Resistance at the Chazen Museum of Art
Who do you most admire? My family.
How has your practice changed? I change it everyday.
What motivates your practice? Artist thinking.
Your favorite artwork made before your lifetime? Untitled, 1959, by Lee Bontecou.
