What kind of namer would you want Squirrelstar to be? I think you had her suggest Finchlight’s name which suggests she’s a GOOD namer, but what KIND of good namer would you want her to be ideally? Obviously it’s up to the Erins to some extent, but there’s always some flexibility in terms of framing!

If I was in charge of her names from here on out, she would make a serious effort to be very reverent of legacies being passed down through families while also acknowledging personal achievements. ThunderClan is currently in an era where it's REALLY missing Firestar, and trying to "reconnect" to that.

So Firekin is seeing a lot of heat and flame related names by default, Fernkin are looking at plant or cloud related ones. Most of these would be basic but meaningful, since apprentices don't tend to get into as much as they used to.

So for example, if Fernkit (canon: graykit) was just earning a pretty basic warrior name, he might just become Fernpuff (Fern-Fatcloud as opposed to Fern-Fastcloud like his namesake). But if he becomes a notable hunter, she would rather give him a name like Fernhawk, still sky-related but more focused on his hunting prowess.

Meanwhile, she's REALLY generous with the Honor Titles since Bramblestar was equally stingy. Stormcloud's finally getting Monsterscar like he's always wanted, if he can just find a big thing to do to justify it. If desired, she'd offer a title to Poppyfrost for creating the garden, to finally acknowledge her contribution. We'd see a return of names that reference scars and achievements.

SO I'm going to be trying to frame them in that way.

A trip down memory lane! Though the tower seems to have changed…

Celestial tower! Built during the direct aftermath of the Founding Unovan Civil War, it remains a cultural landmark in memory of those lost in the fire and storm.

Time has dulled the scars left behind by the twin dragons. Today, the tower is primarily used as a mausoleum (the preferred method of burial are urns) and, well, a tourism site. Legend says if you climb to the top of the tower and ring the bell, you can lay your ghosts to rest. But mostly? You can ring a GIANT bell.

Course, you gotta GET to that bell first.

I think teenage Lottie was lucid enough to understand that the power of the wilderness stuff had gone too far and that she hated being used as the girls scapegoat and forced into a leadership position she never wanted so she passed leadership over to Nat, who was always the most logical and who always fought against the supernatural elements and actually kept them alive with her hunting abilities. Lottie figured Natalie would be their best chance at survival and that she wouldn’t let them take the supernatural beliefs too far so Lottie just used the whole “wilderness saved Nat because she was meant to lead” as a way to get the group to follow and believe in Nat in hopes that her leadership would put a stop to the hunting and cannibalism and take the burden off Lottie

Question: can a leader ask for their name? with the never using the same leader name rule, if Heartstar had already been taken could Heartstar have asked to be named after another relative?

Hmm.. yes, I will allow this. Speaking like StarClan Dungeon Master at a big tabletop rpg game.

They can do this even if their name would have been unique, so long as it's respectful and doesn't take the name of another cat. Disrespecting StarClan to their face is a GREAT way to get sent back without any lives, mind you, so a leader doing this should have a good reason.

An example would be the rare Dishonor Title, if somehow they had been able to come all the way back from having one. So if BB!Brightheart had never lost the name Swifthound, and was standing before StarClan, they would happily honor the request and make her Brightstar.

(Recap for newcomers: I don't respect canon's choice to treat scars as ugly and undesirable things, especially in a battle culture. Brightheart's new dishonor title was Swifthound, to shame her for letting her friend get killed. It has nothing to do with her face, which is considered gorgeous by BB!Clan Culture beauty standards.)

very interested in how the storyline of ronan's sexuality is developed in the dream thieves as a battle between kavinsky and gansey while adam is almost never present in these scenes, which makes it even more interesting that we found out in CDTH that ronan was set on adam the moment he saw him. i think that ronan is attracted on some level to both gansey and kavinsky (you can draw the lines of how much romantic intention you think he hold towards either of the yourself, that's a rabbit hole I would need a whole other post to go down) but more so I think he was attracted to the IDEA of both of them and certain qualities that each possessed, and that the real question wasn't does ronan want gansey or kavinsky because we know he wants adam but rather who's qualities resonate more with who ronan is, or who he is choosing to be at this critical moment in his character development. kavinsky is a dangerous thrill and often comes wrapped in ronan's other favorite self destructive attempts to outrun himself, while gansey is ronan's history and proof of his deep capacities for loyalty and love. he tells kavinsky it was never going to be me and you and that it's not going to be ronan and gansey because that was never the question- maggie was obviously always planning on bluesy and pynch. the answer to who ronan WANTS in adam. the question of who ronan IS- that's what he's trying to decide here. his self hatred is such a heavy weight on him and theme in tdt, and the kavinsky/gansey dichotomy represents the the path he will choose to take to deal with it- keep try to drive faster than his demons or accept that he can still be loved even if he isn't the person he once was. the dream thieves my beloved ronan lynch my beloved
