gintama ace attorney au
I’ve said this before (but probably not on here) but when you look at the things I’ve liked in my life there are definite trends. khr. aa. ygo gx. gintama in particular are all connected by a pretty clear thread of Silly string. I don’t even inherently enjoy the silliness in these things it just happens that I like things that contain that sheer mood whiplash.
anyway. given that aa is the way it is it doesn’t really provide much in terms of story potential. However I would kill to have an actual case where all the characters in gintama can be the most annoying and least helpful witnesses ever. I want every single one of them to lie for their own petty ends. With hijikata being the hapless straitlaced detective i guess. elizabeth would make a good judge but i think the comedic factor of having an entire testimony done on his placards is too good to pass up.
alternatively we could go full meta and do an actual aa style case for the whole cancellation trial but I think it wouldn’t be tapping into the full potential of this ludicrous cast. I want the character designs to reflect aa sensibilities too. I think kyuubei should have some kind of object on their head for no reason. I think zura should testify multiple times in different outfits. And there should randomly be something heinously sad at the climax of the case. and takasugi is implied to be dead the whole time but then he’s summoned as a ghost to be gintoki’s co-counsel a la fey channeling except all his advice is just telling gintoki he should lie and cheat and bomb the whole courtroom. and then at the end he takes off the ghost triangle hat when they’re done and gintoki is like “okay let’s go grab food” and takasugi is like okay ^_- also sacchan and zura are under the defense bench

OC Questions! 2 - 9 - 12
Three Questions?! Okay! Lets go!!
2. How easy is it for your character to laugh?
"Hmmm... I don't laught thaaat easily, do I? There aaare a lot of funny jokes out there, and maaany things are veeery cute and do make me haaappy... But i will laught nooot that easily!!"
(What she wants to tell you is that yes, you may hear her laughter a lot. Lots of giggling, and a good laughter with jokes. Sometimes she might need a few seconds until she processed and understood the joke, but thats okay!!)
9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
"Sweaaar? Raaarely, if at all! I heared it's cooommon at some places, and I heared it a looot in Limsa! I think i might have used Fu-" *Azura storms in, holding the hand over Isas mouth. Stern look to Isabelle, than to Zura* "Who teached her that word?! I will find them!!"
(Okay yes, she sometimes and very very rarely swears. Most often something like "By the gods!" or a specific god. And rarely a very quiet "Fuck!", so nobody hears it!)
12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
"Oh i haaate that! I will try to rub and scritch it sooomehow! The last time made me fuuurious! Maaaybe I should ask for someones heeelp the next time!!"
Zuraaaa!!! There you have it! Thanks for the ask!! <3 Those were quite easy to answer, honestly, but i had fun writing this :D Like we know Isabelle, just a happy little goofball :3

Ayumu: I'm sorry I wasn't very helpful, even though you let me practice with you.... Hanamaru: That's not true! Maru was the one who asked you to accompany me on my secret self-practice. Maru learned a lot from watching how you do it zura, Ayumu-san! So don't say that Ayumu: Hanamaru-chan.... Fufu, thank you. I'll do my best for the last one! Hanamaru: Yeah! Speaking of which, Ayumu-san. If you're looking to improve your stamina, Maru thinks you should ask Kanan-chan for a training plan. Author’s Note: First chapter of two that I’m posting today, so please be sure to read both in the correct order to avoid confusion.
Summary: The aftermath of a devastating battle
---------
Riko opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling.
She was in her room, in her bed. Yet she shifted uncomfortably.
It was not all that uncommon for her clingy wife to pull her into an awkward position in the middle of the night with her nearly endless desire for the comfort of contact. Usually, Riko would wake up just enough to adjust her position, but when she didn’t, it sometimes resulted with her waking up to a pinched nerve or sore spot or whatever.
Of course, Riko couldn’t really blame her wife, as she herself very much enjoyed cuddling as well. Behind closed doors. In the privacy of their room. Not out and about where they were supposed to be the highest leaders in the Empire. And certainly not places like on the bridge in the middle of battle.
Battle. Bridge. Empire… Memories flooded Riko’s mind.
“Yocchan!” she cried, twisting to the side where her wife usually slept.
But Yoshiko wasn’t there.
In all of the time they had been together, Yoshiko had never awakened before Riko, regularly whining about wanting to sleep in later and cuddle more. Occasionally, Yoshiko had awakened in the middle of the night after a nightmare about her time in Paragon captivity, but that was different.
A knock at the door startled Riko out of her panic. Was that Yoshiko? Wait, no, why would her wife knock?
“Sakurauchi-san?” Riko recognized the voice of their chief medical officer. “It seems you are awake, so I am coming in.”
“Yes, come in.”
The door opened and the medical alchemist stepped in. “It is good to see you awake, Ma’am.” She said with a bow.
Riko decided to eschew her own formalities as there were more pressing issues. “Have you seen my wife? Where is Yocchan?”
Nakamura took an uneasy breath. “Emperor Tsushima is… under surveillance.”
“What?”
Nakamura shook her head. “I’m sorry, that was a poor word choice. We are monitoring her condition.”
“Is she alright?”
“We… we’re not sure, to be honest.”
“What do you mean? Let me see her.” Riko started to get out of bed.
“There will be time for that later.” Nakamura placed a hand on Riko’s shoulder. “Right now, I need to make sure you’re alright.”
“I’m fine.” Riko insisted.
“You’ve been asleep for almost two days.”
“What… I… I don’t care, I need to see Yocchan.”
“Sakurauchi-san, please.” Nakamura looked like she was aiming to place her other hand on Riko’s other shoulder, but instead, diverted down to her waist.
For some reason, the movement struck Riko as strange, and she followed Nakamura’s hand with her gaze.
Wait… Where was her arm? Her arm was… gone? Was that why she had been unable to reach out to Yoshiko as she fell? Had that kraken thing tried to attack her? Or had it been aiming at Yoshiko?
“Riko-chan, you’re alright!” a relieved voice came from the doorway.
Riko looked past Nakamura. “Hanamaru-chan? What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to ask your permission to give you this, zura.” The Master Alchemist held up what looked like a metal arm.
“What?”
“First of its kind.” Hanamaru stated proudly. “The URS has been making stuff like this for a little while, but with reverse engineered Paragon tech. Instead, Maru and her team built on our battle mech tech to make a more compact, less weaponized, utilitarian version. Also, it is able to be controlled directly, zura!” She pointed to what looked like wires protruding from within the shoulder section.
Riko looked again to where her arm should have been. “Alright.” She said after a moment of consideration. “Thank you, Hanamaru-chan.”
“Great.” Hanamaru smiled. “Then, let’s…”
“But I need to see Yocchan first.”
“Alright.”
“Kunikida-san.” Nakamura protested.
“I’m going.” Riko stated.
Nakamura sighed. “Fine, but at least take this.” She produced a small vial from her coat and removed the cork.
Riko accepted and downed the rejuvenating liquid. “Thank you.”
“Let’s get you changed. You’re not going out to sea like that.”
“Out to sea?” Riko repeated. “Why is Yocchan out at sea?”
“I’ll explain on the way.” Hanamaru offered. “We’ll take my rotorblade.”
Not more than fifteen minutes later, Riko was accepting Hanamaru’s help climbing into the passenger seat of the artificer’s aircraft.
“So,” Riko said, after turning on her communication device “please explain to me why our empire’s leader is being monitored out at sea.”
“Basically, it’s because of what she did at the end of the battle.” Hanamaru said as they took off. “Or rather, what she did to end the battle, zura.”
“And that is?”
“She got big. Like really big. Bigger than the Datenshi big.”
“What? How?”
“We don’t know, zura.”
“Can the Paragon do that?”
“We’ve never seen such abilities from them before.” Hanamaru shrugged. “I mean that squid thing was gigantic, but preliminary findings from the arm we recovered suggest it was already that size when the Paragon afflicted it.”
“Strange.”
“Zura.”
“But that doesn’t explain why she’s being kept out at sea…”
“Oh, you can see for yourself here, zura.” Hanamaru pulled a small device out of her pocket and handed it to Riko. “Miyashita-san recorded most of it.”
Riko examined the device for a moment before turning it on. A projection like those of the maps on the Datenshi was emitted, except much smaller and in realistic shapes and colors, not inked outlines.
“You figured that out fast, zura. I’m still amazed at what Rina-chan has been able to build without the need for magic or alchemy.”
Riko hummed neutrally as she focused on the projection. It seemed Ai started recording immediately upon arriving in the engagement zone. Riko fussed with the device a bit and was able to skip forward.
The tentacle appeared. Yoshiko saved Setsuna. Closer. The beak attacked once. Twice. There.
Riko winced as she saw Yoshiko and herself caught in the nigh invisible blast. Yoshiko caught Riko and hauled her back up by Prelude’s cockpit frame. She then timed a teleport to dodge another blast from the kraken, leaving no doubt that she or Riko were now its target. Or both.
Next, Phobetor returned and grabbed Prelude’s remaining arm in his jaws before flying back towards a listing Datenshi. Yoshiko turned her wrath on the behemoth. She probably wanted to attack at close range, but she had just ordered a barrage on her target, so it was being actively shelled. Thus, she resigned to adding as many daggers as she could manage to summon at once and adding them to the barrage.
“Yocchan, look out.” Riko couldn’t help murmuring, as though her wife could hear her.
From her vantage point, Yoshiko either could not see or hear the beak preparing its next attack or was too angry to be paying proper attention. And Riko watched helplessly as Yoshiko took the full brunt of the next blast.
Riko held her breath.
Wait… what was that?
Riko moved the device closer. Was that… an eye?
Where Yoshiko had been a moment ago, there was now a giant floating eye. And it was getting bigger. And bigger. And…
The kraken attacked again.
The eye did not dodge, nor even blink. But when the blast passed, shimmering gold began to form around the eye, extending vertically in both directions. Then two more eyes appeared, set in the expanding gold.
The chaos of battle began to subside as all combatants, enemy and ally alike, turned and stared in wonder as the gold curved to form a colossal ring, with eyes all along its rim.
As soon as the ring was complete, it duplicated. Then again. The trio of rings slowly begin to turn around a common center, where an even larger eye appeared. Finally, seven huge, white wings sprung forth from the strange entity. The entity that was… Yoshiko?
The central eye turned its gaze on the kraken beak for a long moment. The beak looked like it was about to prepare another attack when it suddenly burst into flames.
“Wha…?” Riko uttered. Did she miss the attack?
The flames grew in intensity, forming a massive pillar that engulfed one of the carriers and two accompanying destroyers.
The eye’s gaze shifted, and the third carrier ignited. The eye shifted again and…
The recording ended.
“Wait, what?” Riko nearly dropped the device. “Did Yocchan attack Ai-chan?”
“I think a ship or enemy behind her, zura.” Hanamaru proposed. “Miyashita-san said something about accidentally ending the recording as she was scared she had been attacked. But she’s fine.
“Yoshiko-chan destroyed the entire rest of the Paragon fleet without hurting any of our troops, even those engaged in close combat. Mari-chan said it was as though the flames refused to burn her, though I’m not sure if that meant she tried to touch them or something, zura.”
“Is that why Yocchan is way out here?” Riko asked. “Because she’s like… that?”
Hanamaru shook her head. “You’ll see in a moment.”
With that, Hanamaru took her rotorblade down to one of the Empire’s mobile sea bases. The floating platforms were most often used by fleets to resupply, refuel and relax between patrols, and thus were usually bustling with activity. But only the Charon was docked and Riko could see the rest of the fleet dispersed through the area surrounding the base.
“This way, zura.” Hanamaru beckoned Riko follow.
The two women made their way to the open area in the middle of the base, where a sizable tent had been set up.
“Ri… Grand Admiral.” You called as they neared. “You’re alright.”
“More or less.” Riko replied.
You cast a concerned glance toward Hanamaru, though Riko did not see what expression was returned.
“I’m here to see her.” Riko stated.
“Y-yes, of course.” You nodded. “Right this way.” She held open one of the door flaps.
Riko stepped through… And stopped.
“Yocchan?”
The tent was empty, save a bed in the middle. On it was a woman that could have possibly been Yoshiko, except her hair was white. Stark white. Whiter than the gown she was wearing, the sheets on which she lay, or the cat sleeping beside her. Nearly shimmering white.
“Uhm, be careful if you’re going to approach.” You’s voice came from outside the tent. “It… gets a little warm.”
Riko steeled her resolve and strode toward her wife. The warmth You mentioned was noticeable, but tolerable, right up to the last meter, when it increased sharply, causing Riko to pause again. But she clenched her jaw and took the final steps.
“Yocchan.” She called softly as she arrived at the side of the bed.
No response.
Well, the cat looked up at her.
“Phobetor? Is that you?”
“So it would seem.” Came the response.
“You look… different.”
“Indeed. But pay it no mind. You are here to see my master, are you not?”
“Right.” Riko nodded. “Yocchan.” She called again, this time leaning over so she could place a hand on her wife’s cheek.
Still no response.
A scene from story Riko loved flashed through her mind. No, that was a silly, overused romance trope. There was no way it would actually work… right? Besides, You and Hanamaru were watching. So was Phobetor, but she had long since become used to that.
Geez…
Riko leaned down even more and gently pressed her lips against Yoshiko’s.
As she was about to stand back up, arms suddenly wrapped around her, pulling her back down.
“Riri?” A meek voice asked.
“Yes, Yocchan, I’m here.”
Yoshiko’s words were muffled against Riko’s shoulder as she tightened her embrace. A moment later, Riko felt moisture seeping into her shirt.
“I was so scared.” Riko could barely understand Yoshiko. “I thought I had lost everyone. I thought I had lost… you… I thought…”
“No, you saved everyone.” Riko replied gently.
“… your arm…”
“I’m fine.” I think… “Hanamaru-chan invented a replacement for me.”
Riko wasn’t sure how long the two of them stayed like that, but eventually, Yoshiko let her arms relax. However, she whined when Riko decided to stand back up, staring at her with pleading golden eyes.
Wait, golden eyes?
“Yoshiko-chan, you’re finally awake!” Hanamaru’s voice interrupted Riko’s confusion.
Yoshiko quickly wiped her eyes on her sleeve, then sneered at it. “Why’d you guys dress me in white?”
“I thought it would suit your new look.” You offered, stepping up beside Hanamaru.
“New look?”
Hanamaru produced a mirror from her coat that by all rights should not have fit in it, except that those gathered knew she had lined its pockets with pocket dimensions.
“Wha…?” Yoshiko grabbed the mirror and stared into it. She continued to gape silently for a few more seconds, before pulling some of her hair to inspect closer as if to confirm the mirror wasn’t lying. Finally, she looked up at Riko.
Riko smiled. “You’re still my Yocchan, no matter how your appearance may have changed.”
That seemed to relieve Yoshiko significantly.
“Admiral Watanabe!” a voice called from the entry.
“Yes, Lieutenant?” You turned to address her subordinate.
“Admiral Matsuura just surfaced. The scavenger fleet she was guarding found something that she wants you to see.” He turned. “Ah, Kunikida-san, you’re here. You will definitely want to see this as well.”
“I’m coming too.” Yoshiko stated, swinging her bare legs off the side of the bed and hopping off, not seeming to be bothered by her bare feet on the deck.
Riko found herself wondering if the heat being given off by Yoshiko was the reason she didn’t mind being underdressed for the weather outside the tent.
“Riko-chan, Yoshiko-chan!” Kanan greeted from across the deck. “Good to see you both back on your feet. Hanamaru-chan, here.” She held out a strange contraption.
Hanamaru retrieved a lens from her coat, one Riko knew had dozens more settings than the one installed in Prelude, but were tuned for careful analysis rather than battlefield assistance.
“Zura…” Hanamaru murmured.
“What is it?” Yoshiko pressed.
“My initial readings identify this as the thing the Paragon used to open the rifts to our world.”
“Oh? Didn’t Rina get her hands on something similar and use it to make their RDD packs?”
Hanamaru shook her head. “This is different. This contains the dimensional coordinates of the location from which they attacked. And the ability to open a rift back.”
Yoshiko breathed sharply. “You’re saying this could allow us to take the fight to the Paragon?”
“I think so.”
The emperor’s eyes hardened. “Then that is exactly what we’re going to do.”
---------
Author’s Note Continued: I ended up going a bit over the hard cap for the event’s allowed word count, at least for my chosen tier. As such, I reviewed this chapter and the next to see what I could cut out to reduce count. Wow, I really have a habit of using two or three words when one will do. Que zura, zura, I guess that’s just my style.

The major manifest

#THE MAJOR MANIFEST SERIES#
But now that season 2 is in the books, let’s take a look back and go over what we learned this year as well as whatever questions we might still have leading into season 3.īefore we get into the details of the finale, let’s not neglect the Al-Zuras connection that’s still out there.
#THE MAJOR MANIFEST SERIES#
After it jettisoned unnecessary characters like Danny and Lourdes and the relationship drama they brought with them, the series went all in on its sci-fi mystery and ended up the better for it. “There could be a spooky haunting!” Karkanis suggests. When Manifest wrapped up its second season, our reviews overwhelmingly marked it as a more successful overall story than the show’s first run, and the finale was certainly a big part of that. Her character lives on through Cal, through Olive, through baby Eden, and of course through Ben as he tries to carry on without her.” And yes, the door is open to possibly see her again. This was part of our story, and her significance in Manifest remains as strong as ever. What the creator wants to make sure fans know is that they “did not make this decision lightly,” he says. And it’s why I’m sure people are tearing their hair out all over the world right now having seen what happened to Grace in that Season 3 finale. She, in that moment, and in so many moments, perfectly captured the power and the pain of every mother, every wife, every woman, and her ability to channel that emotional state again and again and again is why the audience is so deeply in love with Grace as a character and with Athena as an actress. Rake agrees, adding, “Athena basically broke her arm and still managed to give that unbelievably powerful performance. “It made the audience just lock in and realize the significance of them being in a way and how important those characters were to her character.” “That moment was so important because it made the audience realize that we can love these characters through her because of her love running towards us and her emotions that were coming out towards those characters,” Dallas says. That was also true of the family’s reunion in the pilot when Ben and Cal returned after 828 disappeared for five and a half years. Athena just knows where the heart and soul of a scene lies,” Rake adds, pointing to her performance in that scene, the last one they shot for the season, and remembering looking at the director and saying, “What Athena is giving us right now is exactly what this moment wants to be.” “I don’t know that I’ve ever worked with a more intuitive actor. “Also it would have been wrong to play that moment as, ‘Oh my God, Cal, look at you, you’re so tall now!'” “A mother knows her child,” Karkanis says. If you thought Grace didn’t look as shocked as she should have been by the new Cal, that was by design. The sacrifice he made in giving up those years is one “he’s made for everyone in the world,” not just his family and the other passengers.īut one person who didn’t really need an explanation was his mother. “It’s for Ben and the others to figure out where he’s been, why he was there, what happened there,” Rake says. Speaking of the inexplicable, there’s the matter of where Cal was after he disappeared near the end of Season 3 before returning, having aged. … So you can imagine Ben in Season 4 seeking vengeance for his wife, seeking meaning for the inexplicable, and it becomes the absolute driving force for his character not only in Season 4 but in the back half of the series.” “Why did this happen? Why would the Callings allow something so terrible and devastating to happen? And of course, it’s tied into so much other complicated stuff. “A Season 4 of Manifest for Ben is absolutely centered around processing, digesting, coming to emotional terms with such an unspeakable loss, and then trying to find a way to seek vengeance, to kind of justify the act in terms of finding some meaning out of it. It’s “the most fundamental, life-altering, devastating thing that could happen to ,” the creator says. We have to keep it to ourselves and let them be shocked when they turn the page.”īen still has to find out about Grace’s death at the end of the finale, he only suspects something has happened due to a Calling. He left it up to Karkanis, who said, “No, absolutely. “When Athena and I talked about it, we said to each other, ‘Should we tell the other actors?'” Rake recalls. The rest of the cast was as well, and that’s due to Karkanis. If you were shocked by what happened to Grace, you weren’t the only ones.

Manifest Theory #2
Spoiler alert!
In season 2 episode 9 we learned that there is a very real possibility that Flight 828 was in some place other than the world it came from. In a Calling, they witnessed from Al-Zuras’ crews’ point of view that they had been spotted flying through the sky during a great storm. Now my first thought was that what Al-Zuras and his crew had seen was only during a Calling and not during the years they were missing. However, the show seems to want us to believe they were actually somewhere else and there are signs that those who’ve gone missing were some place other than they should have been.
Sign #1 - After Flight 828 went missing there was absolutely no sign of them for 5 1/2 years. With technology these days, and the whole world presumably looking for them, there is no reason why if they had indeed crashed they wouldn’t have been found.
Sign #2 - Griffin’s van was searched for for 3 days with no trace then suddenly appeared.
Sign #3 - The meth-heads bodies could not be found in a small lake despite searching every inch of it. Where the hell did they go before popping up out of the blue?
Sign #4 - Arguably Zeke missing from his cave could be a sign as well. If he had been gone for a year then the snow would have melted and the cave would have been visible to other hikers who may have wondered by and taken a peek inside. If so they would definitely have noticed a body, and the smell. So presumably he wasn’t always in the cave. At least not that cave.
Sign #5 - Cal touching the tail fin in season 3 caused him to disappear and then return, aged up a bit, but returned none-the-less. But again where did he go?
Sign #6 - The pilot and Fiona Clarke went missing in season 1. And the pilot, popped up for a brief few seconds before again disappearing. They have to be some place, am I right?
So now, what does this all mean? If indeed they have all gone some place different the thing that sticks out to me most is that despite their having existed in different centuries, Al-Zuras’ ship and Flight 828 were in the same place at the same time. So if that is true, would it mean that anyone who has gone to this place would have been there with the others as well, no matter when they had been there or for how long? That means, Griffin, Zeke and the meth-heads experienced the same storm and existed in the same place as the ship and the plane. If so, that tells us that time from this world has no meaning in this place. And the saying, “It’s all connected” takes on a whole new meaning.
Further, what are the chances that anyone who’s been to this place has interacted with others aside from the ones they went with? It might explain a little why Michaela felt that Jace knew she was supposed to let him go, even if he wasn’t really aware of it. It could even explain why Zeke and Michaela felt drawn to one another before they had even met. How amazing would it be if they had met in this other place?
There are tons of questions this would raise if any of this was true. In a show like Manifest any theory, no matter how wild can be thrown onto the table. It’s one of the reasons I love it so much. Let me know what you think, and what theories you might have about the show.

Happy Birthday Gin-san!
One-Shot about Gintoki's 30th birthday. Tsukuyo has a special present for the clueless Gintoki.  The setting of the fic is an already lightly romantic established GinTsu relationship. They already had some kind of romantic encounters, but it was never quite enough for anyone to make a first move. Basically all of them could be seen as „Well, that was awkward, but we are friends so it’s funny.“
Genre: Fluff, First Kiss Stuff
Rating: General Audience
Word Count: 1,960
"Gin-chan, wake up! wake up!"
Kagura's scream echoed through the Yorozuya banged on his door before tearing it open with an ugly sound.
"You're an old man now, no more sleeping in late" She continued to scream with full volume.
"Shut up!" Gintoki screamed back and opened his eyes. He sure felt like an old man already. His life was okay now, after the ending of the canon material. But something was missing, but he also didn't care enough to find out what exactly was missing.
Kagura brought in a birthday cake with 3 sloppily placed candles, topped with one single strawberry. Gintoki frowned looking at the candles.
"I'm 30, not 3." He blurted.
"Yes yes, right. You're so old, I need to use one candle for 10 years, that's how old you are!" She explained to him. Gintoki snorted.
"Why are you so happy so early in the morning?!"
"Here, eat up or mommys gonna be pissed!"
She ignored his bad mood and lifted the fork, forcing the cake in his mouth.
"Ah Kagura stop that, I can eat myself." He picked the fork out of her hand and grumpily ate the cake, sharing it with her. To be exact, Kagura shared with him. She ate most of the cake.
"We're gonna have a party today, yes we will!" She announced.
He groaned in disapproval, a party was the last thing he wanted.
"Zura and Elisabeth are coming, that weird space guy, Shinpachi of course, Gorilla boss lady, -"
"How many people did you invite?!" He interrupted her.
"Mayofreak, Gorilla, that sadistic assface" She ended her list.
"Did you invite the whole Shinsengumi?!"
"Yes of course! It's a special occasion after all!"
"Who's gonna pay for that?!"
"You don't need to pay, don't worry. It's your birthday!"
She happily jumped to her feet, snatching the plate from his hands, on her way to leave his room.
"Thank you, Kagura" Gintoki mumbled. She turned around and smiled.
He laid down again and sighed.
Just forget my birthday already, no one cares about that.
"No more sleeping! Get up now!" Kagura screamed from outside.
Angrily mumbling Gintoki crawled out of his futon and prepared himself for the shitty day.
---------------  x ---------------
The Yorozuya office was packed.
Every possible sitting space was occupied, the room filled with familiar faces. The mood was exuberant, but Gintoki still didn't warm up to the idea of the party.
All guests had arrived by now and the alcohol rose to everyone's head, while Gintoki tried to keep the excitement down. They tried to toast on his birthday several times, but he always denied it, frantically searching for excuses.
Once, he spurted over to the kitchen, pretending that he left the stove on.
Another time, he feigned to be asleep on the couch.
There was no reason for a celebration. There never was.
Katsura had just spilled his third beer all over the floor and Gintoki was kneeling down, searching for some napkins in a drawer, when suddenly the shoji door opened and another trio entered the room. "Hey Tsukki, Hinowa, Seita!" Kagura shouted happily.
Gintoki's heart stumbled. He abruptly lifted his head, banging his head against the drawer. Rubbing his back of the head, he stood up straight and faced the new guests.
Kagura didn't tell me they were coming as well..
"Tsukki…,what are you doing here?" He asked nervously
"Gin-san, Happy Birthday!"
Hinowa said with a singing voice, reaching for his hand to press it lightly, shaking it excitedly.
"Here, we have a present for you!" Seita hugged him turbulently with a small package in his hands, giving it to him with a big smile.
"It's ya birthday, are we not invited?" Tsukuyo mumbled, arms crossed in front of her chest, averting her eyes, Kiseru in her mouth.
Hinowa slightly pushed in Tsukuyos ribs.
"Don't you-?"
She whispered and Tsukuyo blushed slightly before she eyed Gintoki.
Confused, he tilted his head, Seita still jumping around in front of him.
Tsukuyo sighed, closed the few steps between them, walked around Seita and spread out her arms, wrapping them around Gintoki.
He was baffled.
Hugs? Since when does she give out hugs?
"Happy Birthday" She mumbled incomprehensibly.
Tsukuyo hugged him tight, a little too tight. He could feel her arms cramping around him and her heart racing against his. Well, that's awkward. Gintoki felt his heart speed up as well.
"Oi oi, not so unruly, you're almost assaulting me" He laughed nervously.
She tensed up, let out an angry sound and smashed him to the ground, pressing the air out of his lungs.
"That's a nice present, did not expect anything else from you.." He mumbled, lying exhausted on his back.
Tsukuyo was standing over him, her face beet red.
"Tsukki, are you okay? Are you sick?" Kagura shouted from her seat on the couch.
"'s fine" She blurted.
"Oi, why does no one care about me? It's my birthday and I just got crashed into the damn floor" Gintoki grumbled.
"You're fine." Kagura simply replied.
"Nothing new" Shinpachi shouted from the other side. Hinowa smiled happily.
"Oi, why are you happy? Why are you happy?!"
---------------  x ---------------
The evening had gone by mostly uneventfully. Katsura had tried to battle everyone in a game of uno, but he failed miserably, losing every single time. The now close to tears samurai was comforted by Elisabeth in one corner of the room.
"This never happens to me, I'm so good at this game!" He cried in his sleeve.
Elisabeth held up a sign: You're the best player!
Tatsumas laughter repeatedly echoed through the room. It was the most annoying sound of the evening. Gintoki had the strong urge to kick his head in.
"Kintoki, drink something with me!" He called out to him, completely wasted.
"It's Gintoki, can't ya at least get it correctly on my birthday?!" Gintoki hadn't touched a single drop. He still didn't feel like celebrating.
The Shinsengumi members happily drank in their own little round and were joined by Hinowa, Kagura and Shinpachi. Seita played on his new TS. unbothered by the commotion around him. Otae and Kyuubei sat on his table, sharing some food, leaving Gintoki and Tsukuyo alone.
"So.. how are ya" Gintoki started after some minutes of silence between them.
"Whaddaya mean?" She replied uninterested, smoking her kiseru.
"I asked about your well-being , what do you not understand?"
"Why are ya asking, you never ask that" She simply replied.
"Fine, I won't do it again." Offended, Gintoki crossed his arms in front of his chest.
He glanced over to her, their eyes met and both of them turned away, slightly blushing.
Hinowa turned her attention to Tsukuyo, noticing the thick tension between them.
"Tell him how you are, it's not that hard." She chuckled, slightly drunk and continued talking to Kondo with great interest. Hinowa had recently started to bond with him, much to her disapproval. She didn't want the police involved in Yoshiwaras business.
Tsukuyo huffed.
"'s fine, I guess." She finally replied to his question.
"Ah.. I see."
"and how is it?"
"How is what?"
"Being old." She grimaced maliciously.
Gintoki scoffed. "It's not that different from yesterday, it's just one day later."
"okay.."
"I don't know.. lonely" He continued.
"You don't have to be lonely," Tsukuyo said, still looking in another direction.
"..what do you mean?" Gintoki turned in her direction.
"I urr I.. I mean..you have Kagura and Shinpachi.. you're not alone"
Gintoki paused.
"Yea right, I'm not alone, but still lonely"
"That's not true, Gintoki."
"Sooner or later Kagura will move out, Shinpachi will find a girlfriend, and they will be living their own lives. I'll be a single left alone dad by then. Maybe I should buy myself a woman in Yoshiwara.." His thoughts trailed off.
"Ya couldn't afford that anyways. Besides.. I'm sure there's someone for you" Tsukuyo's voice got lower with the progression of her sentence.
"Really? Who is it, is she hot? Does she have big boobs? Please tell me she's not from the Hyakka"
"..kind of"
"Tell me, who is it?" He was invested now.
"Well..-"
"Tsukki, don't you still have another present?" Tsukuyo jumped at Hinowas interruption.
"No I don't. It's already late, let's go home." Tsukuyo answered quickly and she stood up hastily, leaving the disappointed Gintoki behind.
"Okay, if you say so."
Seita helped Hinowa and they said their goodbyes, walking to the front door. Gintoki stood up as well and accompanied them to the exit like a good host.
"You can tell me Tsukki, I won't tell anyone!"
But she just ignored him. He gave up.
"Thanks for coming, hope you enjoyed it." He said politely.
"Oh Gin-san of course we did! It's always pleasant to be around both of you !" Hinowas smiled.
Gintoki was confused "Why do you say 'both of you' so weird?"
Hinowa didn't reply and Tsukuyo pushed her to the door. Halfway, she stopped and turned around, facing the in the door leaning Gintoki.
"Gintoki..I .. I actually have another present for you" She started quietly.
Hinowas gasped slightly.
"She's gonna do it!" She whispered to Seita.
"Eh? I don't need presents, I thought I already said that." Gintoki waved his hand dismissively.
"It's just.. something small."
"uh.. okay?"
"you jus..just need to come a bit closer."
"You're scaring me."
"Or I can just come to you.."
Tsukuyo carefully walked back, stopping right in front of him at a very short distance. Sweat formed on his forehead.
"Close your eyes." She whispered.
He did.
Gintoki felt her small hands on his, turning his palm around, laying her hand in his. But there was nothing in her hand.
There's nothing there, What could it be? -
That's when she kissed him. No warning, no preparations. She just kissed him then and there in the doorway, right on the lips, in full view of everyone.
Gintoki forgot to think at all.
Her warm soft lips on his spread a fire in his body, crawling under his skin, burning the hands that were covered by her soft fingers.
One second.
The whole room went silent, Tatsumas laughter died.
If you listened carefully enough, you could've heard a feather falling to the wooden floor.
Two seconds.
Gintoki's head started to spin. His eyes opened slightly and he saw her face through his lashes.
Three seconds.
That was over the limit of an accidental kiss.
It was not a shy kiss,
it was brisk,
setting a complete new point in their relationship.
Her feathery touch on his hand tightened, sending a shiver that traveled down his spine, making his heart beat painfully fast.
Gintoki slightly opened his lips, about to return the kiss, but she retreated, her face tinted in a shade of red he had never seen before.
Tsukuyo smiled lovingly and lifted a finger, brushing it over his open mouth, caressing his lips.
"Happy Birthday"
She whispered and turned around on her heels, hooking the excited chattering Hinowa into her arms and quickly excited through the front door.
Gintoki just stood there, dumbfounded, unable to move.
The kiss wasn't that long, and it certainly wasn't a scene from a shoujo manga with a great backdrop, exciting atmosphere and a big buildup, but it was wonderful.
Nothing else was able to reach his mind in this moment, he only knew he would remember it forever.
Several minutes went by.
Still, no one had said a word.
Everyone stared at him and Gintoki stared at the door where he had last seen her.
“ehh.. Gin-san..? Is everything ok?" Shinpachi asked carefully, the sounds slowly returning to the room.
Gintoki's fingers slowly lifted up to touch his lips, her sweet taste still lingering on them.
“what…?" ..did just happen?

Short Lived Marriage
It was uh, requested so here’s a little drabble/short fic of what I had in mind for Sakamoto’s Vegas-style wedding x’D
Under a read more because it’s a bit on the longer side
@unstable-viper and @chaos-night
Content Warning: Drinking mentioned, sex mentioned, post sex mention, hangover, regret, sad Tatsuma, Katsura towards the end
Tatsuma Sakamoto
Tumblr media
"I love you so much, that was the best night I've ever had…" Tatsuma sighed dreamily, enjoying his post coital bliss. The person he was talking to, a purple skinned woman who fairly closely resembled a human woman in physical features, was curled up on his chest with her eyes closed. His rambling fell on deaf ears as she was quietly enjoying the aftermath of a rather blissful pleasure filled night.
"Frillima, I think we should get married."
"Uh-huh, sure."
Tatsuma sat straight up, Frillima being forced to sit up along with him. Her green and pink eyes were half opened with curiosity and sleepiness, brows arched at the sudden action.
"Let's go do it!" He quickly pulled on his pants, not even bothering to put on his boxers, and haphazardly dressed her in some of his clothes. He grabbed the keycard to the hotel before carrying her down to the first floor. Both of them were still fairly tipsy, but Tatsuma had a bad habit of acting without thinking while fully sober. It didn't take long before they found a person who could marry them, dressed obnoxiously like a famous dead singer.
The whole ordeal took about ten minutes in line and three minutes before they were legally married. She giggled as they kissed, soon returning to his hotel room for the honeymoon part of their marriage.
--
The two stayed in his room for another full day and night, their time together spent with booze and sex. On the second morning since their 'marriage', Frillima was frantically looking for her clothes, the hangover being killer. She pulled her blonde and brown hair into a lazy bun, quickly pulling on her clothes piece by piece as she found them. Tatsuma walked out of the bathroom in his towel, having just finished a nice relaxing shower. His brows raised as he watched her grabbing her purse and shoving her phone inside.
"Listen, Tatsuma, it's… just, no. We don't know anything about each other and I just can't get married to someone because the sex is good. I'm going to go get the marriage annulled. You're a good fuck and if you ever wanna do this, just the drinking and sex nothing else," she spoke sternly, "then hit me up. Here's my number, but I am NOT marrying you again in a shady casino."
With that, the love of his life disappeared into the hotel hallway. Well, he wasn't even sure if he liked her beyond the sex, but it was just THAT good!!!
--
Kotaro sighed quietly as he listened to the wailing on the other end of the line, a very upset Tatsuma called to vent his sorrows. He would normally get Mutsu to listen, even if only half heartedly, but she reminded him that she thought it was a bad idea from the beginning. She gave him absolutely no sympathy, and thus he called an old friend, which in this case was Kotaro Katsura. He certainly had better things to do than listen to his friend cry over a silly situation, but he lent an ear nonetheless.
"No one understands, Zura!"
"It's not Zura, it's Katsura."
"She was amazing… she could do all sorts of kinky things like--" That was where Kotaro's last straw broke and he hung up. Tatsuma had gotten very detailed about the intimate acts that went on between him and his… ex-wife? He shook his head and decided to never bring this up again.

December 6 is Mia Taylor's birthday!
Tumblr media
And since it's her first since joining the Nijigasaki School Idol Club, she's got brand new in-game greetings from everybody.
These fall into a few categories. First, people taking about her music:
Tumblr media
People joining in on what Mia likes:
Tumblr media
People dragging Mia into what they like (which she will inevitably enjoy after grumbling a bit):
Tumblr media
And compromises between the last two:
Tumblr media
Just gifts (with a touch of personal interests):
Tumblr media
And plain sweetness:
Tumblr media
(Some of these are subject to interpretation, of course; for example, I'm reading Kasumi's offering as a ground-beef-and-toppings koppepan here, or it would go back in the "dragging" section.)

Rapsblüte no Yoru (Princess Tutu epilogue skit) and my thoughts
Or: Why a bitch is still salty after 9 years
So, as previously mentioned on this blog, there was a skit presented at a Princess Tutu convention in 2004 by series creator Ikuko Itoh and chief director Junichi Sato called “Rapsblüte no Yoru.” It takes place about a year after the anime’s ending and serves to wrap up some loose ends about the characters and their feelings - particularly Ahiru and Mytho.
So I’ve talked about it before, but now more time has passed, so I thought I’d let the raging monster out of its slumber to REALLY address the epilogue and my own uncensored thoughts and feelings about it. Half of this ended up reading like a rant, really, but I just had to get it all out there.
Here is the skit, as recited by Japanese blogger Goma and translated by LiveJournal user csakuras, along with my reactions and thoughts, which are indicated by the blockquotes.
"Quaack.." Ahiru seems to be swimming on the river during a night with a beautiful moon It's been a while since then, and every day I'm happy. It's fun talking with my bird friends, and Madam Pelican is a little noisy, but...it's fun. And besides......whenever I look up, Fakir is always there.
So Ahiru has returned to life as a bird and has settled in well. Good for her.
Ahiru: "I've come all the way to Gold Crown Academy....somehow I feel like dancing." Saying that, Ahiru climbs onto the bank and is surprised to find the whole surface covered with rape blossoms. Ahiru: "Gwak!!" Autor: "Oh? What's this?" It seems he stepped on Ahiru.. Ahiru: "Gwakgwak!!" Ahiru protests. Autor: "Oh it's you, Ahiru-kun...isn't Fakir with you?" Autor backs away as Ahiru tries to talk to him. Autor: "Sorry, but could you not get so close? I'll start sneezing from my bird allergies." (The mystery of his dislike of birds is solved.) Ahiru: "Charon-san and Raetsel-san had a child so Fakir went to the celebration."
The idea of this seems to negate all of Raetsel’s development, but okay then.
Autor: "I see....by the way, did you come to see the Night of Rapsblüte too?" Ahiru: "Rap..Rapsblüte?" Ahiru asks curiously. Ahiru: "Rapsblüte are rape blossoms, right?" Here, Autor goes Hnph! with his nose as if making fun of her. Autor: "The Night of Rapsblüte is when once every 50 years, all the rape blossoms bloom simultaneously on a night of the full moon. According to what I've researched in the library, in the records of a student from 50 years ago, there is an eye-witness account." Ahiru heaves a sigh (lol) Autor: "And tonight, the weather, the date, everything matches with the past data!" Autor is full of confidence. "Besides that, you're in the music department so maybe you should be studying piano instead..." Ahiru mutters. Autor: "Did you say something?" Ahiru: "Huh? Autor can understand me." Hnph, he laughs at her with his nose again. Autor: "Anything can happen tonight and it wouldn't be strange." Ahiru: "The moon is so pretty..." (Here, a man wearing a mask of the moon appears from behind..it's a great hit in the assembly) Autor: "What's that? An onion?" Ahiru: "!!" Uzura: "Ho~ Ahiru zura~" *Tototon* (her drum) Ahiru: "Uzura-chan!!" Ahiru: "Uzura-chan! Where were you?" Uzura: "I've been wandering the interval of time with the old man zura."
WHAT does that even mean?! What is the interval of time?! Considering Uzura’s previous life as Edel, it’s surprising that Uzura chooses to stick with Drosselmeyer. He’s the one who put her Ahiru and Fakir through so much trouble, after all. Then again, Uzura is a child and probably has no memory or idea of the role Drosselmeyer played and the evil things he did. Uzura also isn’t human, so maybe human morals don’t bother her as much.
Ahiru: "By the old man do you mean Drosselmyer-san? Then where's Drosselmyer-san?" "Drosselmyer?!!" <--(Autor's switch is on) Uzura: "The old man is busy with updating the site zura, sorry he's so irresponsible zura." (Here, Director Satou is rolling with laughter.) Autor: "Why didn't you bring him with you?!" Clearly, his Drosselmyer otaku switch is on lol
I hate you, Autor. I try not to but I do.
Uzura: "One more is coming zura." Autor: "One more?" Mytho: ".......Tutu." Ahiru: "Mytho!!" (I can never forget Ahiru's sad voice here)
Ah, and here it is. The agony.
You know, I could possibly stomach the whole damn ending of the show if the epilogue doesn’t go on to make it entirely clear how heartbroken Ahiru still is. I mean, if Ahiru is actually happy, there’s nothing more you can want for her. But this here kind of ruins it. Like, why?! How am I supposed to be content with her situation when she’s sad at the mere sight of Mytho?!
Mytho: "It's been a while...." Uzura: "He was dancing on the balcony so I brought him zura." (....At your own pace as usual, Prince.) Autor: "Prince Siegfried from the story!! Myu...Mytho-san." (He sounds as emotional as if he were meeting Drosselmyer.) Mytho: "Are you Fakir's friend...?" Autor: "I'm Autor!" Mytho: "You were the one who helped Fakir? Thank you..." (How does he know..)
How DOES he know? Well, there was a tiny time skip between the defeat of the Raven and Mytho and Rue’s departure to the story. Perhaps things were explained a little during then.
Autor: "No! It was an honor." (only dimly remember) Mytho: "If I remember correctly, during our ballet lessons you were asked by Neko-sensei to accompany us on piano." Autor: "Yes, I was asked to accompany you on piano by Neko-sensei 11 times, and I passed by you with Neko-sensei in the hall 27 times." (Jeez, Autor's in high spirits (lol)) Mytho: "Fakir sometimes sees cows and alligators flying in the sky, so I'm worried. Could you take care of Fakir?"
Mytho seems to naturally be a little bit of an airhead. It’s funny to see that qualities of him that we saw in the anime can be attributed not to his lack of a heart and common sense, but just to how his personality really is. Cute.
Autor: "Yes!! Mytho-san, please leave him to me." (He's been left to him without having a say, Fakir's in a pinch (lol)) Ahiru: "Mytho? How is Rue-chan?" Mytho: "Rue is doing well." Mytho: "It seems Rue is good at singing too and she's a popular princess among the people." Autor: "Rue-san?"
So Rue is a true lady of the arts, not good only at dancing but at singing too. Interesting that she’s so popular, considering that she honestly doesn’t seem to be the most sociable person. Polite, but not going out of her way to be friendly. Perhaps her time in the story with Mytho has defrosted her even more. What is the new Rue like, I wonder?
Uzura: "Mytho is rabu-rabu with Rue zura~" Autor: "Could you be quiet for a while..." His voice is lacking energy and sounds like he might cry (He knows they're rivals in love..is that okay?)
WHY is Autor so torn up over Rue still?! He never even really spent time with her. Foolish kids, I tell you. She was hardly more than a pretty face to him.
Ahiru: "Thank goodness... Mytho. "The Concluding Volume of The Prince and the Raven" got published. It's not a story without an end anymore." Ahiru: "And also, soon Fakir's going to dance an all-male version of La Sylphide with Matthew Bourne-sensei's choreography!"
Soooo this part is confusing. The concluding volume… So The Prince and the Raven was a story published in installments? The show made it look like it was just a single novel. Unless they mean that they simply published an official ending… But if the story was given an ending, wouldn’t that affect the storybook world? And who wrote the ending and got it published, Fakir? A couple of questions that remain here.
Mytho: "Fakir....I always feel like I'm connected with Fakir..the more my country becomes peaceful, I can feel him close by." (It's...mostly dim recollection. Just the nuance of it.)
Yeah, don’t act like you didn’t just up and leave him AND Ahiru once your business was finished, Mytho. Anyways, skipping the salt, does this mean that Fakir’s conclusion to the novel made things more peaceful in the story world? That’s what it sounds like to me.
Actually, isn’t it kind of scary that Fakir can still wield influence over Mytho’s world? What if he got pissed off at him? yikes
Ahiru: "Mytho...." "You should meet Fakir! He's coming back tomorrow..so then.." Mytho: "I can't..I can only come here because the interval of time is connected tonight..see, the moon is already sinking this much." (The man playing the moon sinks down (lol) The assembly bursts into laughter again) "I see..."
WHAT is with this ‘interval of time’ nonsense again! Someone explain it to me!
Also, fuck Fakir, apparently.
Mytho: "Princess Tutu.....thanks to you, I can be like this. Thank you." Ahiru: "I wanted to see you smile, so my wish is already granted." (only dimly remember)
 AND THERE IT FINALLY IS!!!
“Thank you, Tutu, for risking your life to save mine and restore my happiness and holding your tongue about your feelings for me so I could do nothing for you in return and leave hours later.”
No, I’m not salty. Anyways, the abrupt ending to the show without much dialogue was due to time constraints, not necessarily a true display of Mytho’s character, which I guess this epilogue was partly written to fix. It does seem pretty heartless when you watch the anime, though.
Mytho: "Princess Tutu, I wanted to be with you longer. I wanted to talk with you like this longer....to me, you are the light....because you are someone very special..." (?? Mytho/Ahiru?)
See, this is why I just can’t do it. Like, Mytho, are you fucking kidding?! You leave her alone as a duck and now you want to sweet-talk her?!
But actually, all bitterness aside, this is really sad. They obviously care for each other, but because of circumstances and plot, never once did they have the time to really just… talk.
And he still sees her as the light. I saw some people kind of making fun of this, but of COURSE he does. There was a considerable period of time when she was the only person vouching for him, keeping him safe, acting as his voice… and ultimately saving him in every way. He can only be a real person again because of her, and she never faltered in her mission. That’s INCREDIBLE. Of course he would hold her in high regard.
Mytho: "But, I have to protect Rue. Rue needs me...." (I'm sorry, it's completely out of memory...because I was so overwhelmed..(lol) I should take my reeling in moderation)
And here’s the dagger. After talking about how highly he thinks of Ahiru/Tutu… he backtracks by saying Rue needs him.
And you know why this is REALLY fucking sad? He doesn’t say that “But, I really enjoy being with Rue” or “But, I love Rue.”
He says he has to PROTECT Rue. Rue NEEDS him.
I don’t think I need to dive too deep into the implications of his wording to spell out why this is upsetting, but I’ll sum it up quick. Instead of saying he likes being with Rue, he says Rue needs me. That’s the first thing that comes to mind.
And if it means what I think it means, that’s just fucking harsh. That’s not fair for Rue. That’s not fair for Ahiru. That’s not fair for Mytho.
I mean, we all know the prince has a savior-complex, but the implication that he chose Rue because he feels a sense of duty to protect her instead of romantic affection is kind of… tragic. That’s not a happy ending at all, really. Does Rue have any idea?
I think this is why I have an issue with Ruetho, because no matter what you can’t escape the fact that Mytho will always view her through the lens of what she suffered. It’s just in his personality as a heroic, selfless prince. Doesn’t Rue deserve someone who sees her as… more than someone to protect?
Whatever, can’t be changed now.
Mytho: "Tutu...you have done so much for me, but I couldn't do anything for you." "Is there something I can do for you, Tutu?"
WHAT on Earth could he possibly expect to be able to do for her?! I mean, short of turning her human again, but I’m guessing that’s out of the scope of his abilities. Don’t be so bait-y.
Ahiru: "......Mytho! I.........." "No, nevermind..." (Ahiru sounds incredibly sad)
AUGHHHHHHHH
What was she going to say? You know what, probably doesn’t matter anyway. We know what she wants… she can’t have it, though.
Mytho: "It's almost time..." "See you again....Tutu...." (Jeez..I don't remember any of it) Ahiru: "Can we meet again?" Mytho: "Surely we will meet again..." Mytho (or is it Yanagi-san? lol): "We can meet again, when Sakurai-kun is here." (The assembly explodes with laughter)
NOOOOOOOO
No no no
No, do NOT meet again. This is just asking for trouble. Ahiru clearly isn’t over Mytho, and Mytho… clearly does not have his priorities straightened out. If they keep meeting like this…
Well, as the anime shows, it wouldn’t be the first time they put themselves through the wringer for love. Mytho recites something in German. "Waaao!!" <--(Uzura)
What did he say? I’m curious.
Here, Mytho says his never-ending feelings for Tutu (if someone remembers this part please tell me~) And at the end, Mytho: ".......Ahiru."
……..Yeahhh, probably not a good idea to meet again.
Like, I get that this epilogue is to ‘tie up loose ends’ including the torched remnants of Mythiru that were dropped so abruptly at the end, but...
Why, oh why, Mytho, did you choose Rue if you’re still hung up on Tutu?
Additionally, we see that Mytho DOES now know that Tutu is Ahiru. That’s bittersweet too, but in more of a good way. He finally knows that the little passionate goofball was the princess all along. I wonder who told him, or how he found out. Did he just figure it out on his own? Like, the duck that was once Princess Tutu must be Ahiru because Ahiru = duck? Maybe Uzura told him? I doubt Fakir would’ve, simply because once she was back to being a duck again permanently, there was really no reason to tell Mytho. Couldn’t much matter anymore, right?
Ahiru: "I get the feeling I heard Mytho's voice at the end." I am a duck....I can't wear toe shoes, I can't dance.. (I'm sorry, I don't remember) But inside my chest there is a sparkling gem that will never be broken. The end.
And that’s it.
Sooo a lot of conflicted feelings coming at me from this, if you couldn’t tell. I guess first is the question of whether or not this could be considered canon.
Honestly? I think so. Both Ikuko Itoh and Junichi Sato, the people behind Princess Tutu, worked on this and presented it. They even had some of the Japanese VAs present to act it out. Additionally, as I’d mentioned previously, it addresses some questions that were left open due to the somewhat rushed ending of the anime’s finale. And nothing presented in this skit goes against the show’s canon or really comes out of left field (aside Charon and Raetsel man tf). It’s short and sweet.
Moving on, the first time I read this I was really happy, simply because it makes it clear that YES, Mytho does return Ahiru’s feelings. Which I guess was clear in the anime too, but this skit makes it undeniable. It’s nice to feel validated.
But as time goes on and I’ve had the chance to chew over and really digest it… It’s kind of a really crappy situation for our heroine and hero. Like, so they are in love, and they want to continue seeing each other… but Mytho is SUPPOSED to be spoken for with Rue, and Ahiru is a duck. Not to mention that Ahiru is Rue’s FRIEND. C’mon girl, chicks before dicks. Of course, they could still interact platonically, but the confession from Mytho in this skit kind of shot that possibility dead. And what about Fakir in this mess? Granted, Fakir isn’t stupid – he’s known that Ahiru loves Mytho from the beginning, and it’s not exactly like he can be in a relationship with a duck. But still.
Maybe I’m just looking too far into things, but with a piece this short and direct, I don’t know how deep you can really dive.
Anyways, my final thoughts are: Mythiru is canon but in the most tragic way possible, Rue deserves better, annnnnnd I’m still left unsatisfied.

Manifest: Pre-Season 3 Predictions and Thoughts
Now that the season 3 trailer is out, here is an overview of my holdover theories from the last two seasons and any new thoughts sparked by the trailer
Dangers:
Death Date and the Major: I was not expecting these conflicts to be resolved so quickly, although new conflicts were introduced. Adrian believes 828 is a sign of the apocalypse, he will probably stoke the fire of 828 hate. Also, since the key to the Death Date seems to be “follow the callings, no matter what,” our heroes may be torn between doing sketchy things and possibly dying (especially since the trailer seems to confirm that they did die and were saved by the supernatural callings [and that the plane blew up in season 1 because there couldn’t be two planes at the same time]). As for the Major, someone will inevitably take her place and will be more guarded than she was. There is also the question of whether this was just her pet project or does this go higher up? If, say, the President called Vance and told him to stop helping the 828-ers, would Vance betray his new friends?
Disappearances: Cal’s kidnappers disappeared, suggested that they went the way of 828. This would be the 4th time after Zeke, Griffin, Fiona and Billy Daly. Are these disappearances increasing in frequency, suggesting an imminent apocalyptic event? Or have these disappearances always happened, it’s just widespread info in the modern age and the fact so many people disappeared with 828 that highlighted the phenomenon and this has always happened? History buffs, find mysterious disappearances where the person suddenly reappeared. Here’s hoping that the Agatha Christie disappearance was an 828 event and her novels published after her disappearance hold clues. I still believe the fortune teller Olive met had her own 828 episode. There is also still the question of how Al-Zuras is tied into this. I predict TJ will return from Egypt, riding on a white horse, with critical information just in the nick of time (which means he’ll probably be absent, bar Skype calls, for the first half of the season, but sometimes quality is better than quantity).
Xers, Meth Dealers and Kidnappers, O My!: If there is a time jump between seasons, the first episode could see the return of Cal’s kidnappers. It would be cool if their Death Date were the end of the season, so the finale’s tension is waiting to see whether or not they croak (like a villainous version of the tension of the season 2 finale, wondering whether Zeke was gonna die). They could feed into Adrian’s doomsday theory if it seems that they are following their Callings. The Xers are still a threat, Tamara may take on a leadership role with her brother in jail and the group may team up with Adrian.
Saanvi: She is not a danger, but boy is she in a lot of danger. Her attempt to cure the Callings/Death Date will definitely continue to have side effects and it may have even ensured that the Death Date kicks in. She also murdered a high ranking military officer. She’ll definitely be laying low if not in complete hiding at the start of season 3. Thankfully her shipping prospects provide her with enough plot armor that I don’t think she’ll die in season 3 (I am worried about her after that, though). As it is I think we’ll see a storyline divide between her and the other main characters. She and Vance will team up to take on the government and the other characters will deal with the supernatural stuff, with Ben bridging the gap.
Shipping:
I still think that Jared and Michaela are going to get together at least one more time, that’s just how shows like these work. Hopefully it’ll be brief and then it’ll be done. What could lead to troubled waters for Zeke and Michaela you ask? Well, a couple of things. Now that Zeke no longer has a ticking clock pushing his self-betterment, he might fall back into bad habits, and/or Zeke and Michaela could become complacent in their marriage, letting all the other drama in their lives take precedence. Be on the lookout for either or both of them starting to keep secrets from each other, the best part of their relationship in season 2 was their honesty and immediate airing of any possible issues. I do hope that Zeke and Michaela are endgame, because when their relationship is good it is great. I also hope that Jared and Drea get together because I think they could have a really fun dynamic. They would be the sarcastic couple that gets exasperated with their psychic friends (just think of the background side glances!).
I definitely think Benvi is going to happen but it is definitely a slowburn, so I don’t expect them to get together until the end of season 3 or even until season 4. We haven’t even gotten to Ben coming to the realization that he might have feelings for Saanvi, which I don’t expect to happen until either right before or during the straining of his marriage to Grace. I predicted before that Grace might lie about Eden’s parentage to protect her, and I still think that’s a good theory, especially since Graces first Calling was telling not to get a DNA test. Ben would understand, but that would still be a tough situation. Also, Grace was 100% supportive last season, but last season also showed that Ben’s obsessive tendencies can get him into trouble. Grace and Ben might fall out over the interpretation of a Calling, particularly if the well-being of their kids is concerned. I am starting to think that Benvi might not be good for Saanvi’s health. Saanvi has picked fights with a supernatural force and the US military, it would take some serious plot armor to protect her from the serious danger heading her way. I feel like the writers might kill off Saanvi after her and Ben get together to twist in the knife. But, I was wrong about Zeke’s chances of survival, maybe I’m just a pessimist.
Olive and TJ are flipping cute together and I hope that they are a relatively drama free couple to provide a breather from the other couples. One of my favorite things about TJ and Zeke is how well they fit into the family, I feel like if OlivexTJ or ZekexMichaela ever broke up TJ and Zeke would still be close friends with other members of the family. I really hope that TJ becomes Ben’s son-in-law someday (with Zeke’s dad in the background shouting, “I called it!”).
Characters:
Olivia: I hope Olive doesn’t go to college (I don’t have anything against college, I loved going to college and i believe that people should continue to learn after high school, even if its just Skillshare. I just don’t think it’s a practical choice for everyone and that it would be interesting to watch Olive follow a path different from the “norm”.), beyond taking mythology classes and the like at community college. I still think that she’ll take over the Church of the Believers, especially since Adrian thinks the 828-ers are harbingers of the apocalypse. The Church could split between Adrian and Olive.
Ben: Believing that they died on that plane is not going to help him chill.

IT’S ONLY FOREVER: THE ETERNALS RECAP PART 5
NOT BACK ON IT, STILL ON IT: THE ETERNALS ISSUE 5
Tumblr media
Have you missed an installment of It’s Only Forever? Click here!
Did you know: in the United Kingdom, the game most of us know as Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots was originally released as Raving Bonkers?
I’m starting this installment of It’s Only Forever by telling you this because I want to ensure the next fact I tell you isn’t the wildest Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots fact you learn today.
Because here is another fact: in Olympia, the futuristic city the Eternals call home, the Eternals use all their infinite wisdom and power to play giant Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
Tumblr media
Depicted: proof that the Eternals love fads
This is hardly an exaggeration. The robot boxers are controlled with little joysticks and are red and blue. The Eternals call them Auto-Boxers, but we all know what’s going on. This comic came out 12 or so years after the popular toy was released, and that toy was a best seller for years, so I find it hard to believe Jack Kirby could have been completely unaware of the game’s existence.
This piece of lore is not really dealt with, but it is lore. I bring this up because A) I am now treating it as essential canon that must be in all adaptations of the Eternals and 2) this issue is back to being about lore again...
I can’t stress enough that I personally love lore, but surely this is not the best way to dole out superhero action. I don’t know enough about what was going on at Marvel at the time (I hear that editorial was not fond of the Eternals, which we’ll discuss more later in the run). But I do know that this is a great example of a comic that could have used more editorial oversight.
You see, Jack Kirby was his own editor on The Eternals. This sounds great at first, but let’s be honest: no one should have to edit their own work, especially not when you have a tight deadline and you’re also doing the art and the writing. Archie Goodwin was apparently involved in the editing process, but it seems very likely that a lot of the editing work fell on Kirby. Why wouldn’t they? As has been established, this comic isn’t a part of the Marvel Universe. So it’s not like we need a Weezie Simonson to keep the lines consistent.
And as a result, we get a lot of extremely lore heavy issues back-to-back-to-back. We also get a lot of weird inconsistencies. Sersi’s name is spelled Sersy for the entirety of Issue 3. In this issue, Sersi calls Margo “Carol.”
Tumblr media
Depicted: perhaps this is just Sersi asserting her dominance by pretending to forget Margo’s name
And in the end, in part because of a lack of oversight, we get yet another issue where very little happens. Sersi and Margo get kidnapped and Sersi tries to escape, only to be forced to submit to save Margo’s life. This is exciting, but brief. Earlier, Sersi calls Olympia for help, summoning Makarri and Thena, who won’t affect the plot for another issue.
But we don’t even see much of Olympia. I can’t tell you a single fact about it other than, yeah, they play Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots there.
What we do learn about is characters, so let me take some time to introduce you to the four that will determine the fate of the world.
Tumblr media
Makkari: He wears red and loves fast vehicles and levitating. Humans misheard his name as Mercury, do you get it??? Of all the adult Eternals, we’re told he’s the most childish. We know he has a flying machine that can travel at the speed of light, which he and Thena to get from Olympia (presumably near Greece) to New York. This means that he and Thena take about 0.0000069 seconds to get to their destination and they probably destroy everything in their flightpath.
Tumblr media
In the film, Makkari will be played by Lauren Ridloff, who is a woman, Afro-Latina, and deaf. This is an amazing swerve and brings some much needed representation to the MCU. Makkari is technically one of the most important characters in this series! Likewise, in the upcoming Eternals comic series from Gillen and Ribić, Makkari appears to be a woman with fairly dark skin.
The fact that you have not heard horrible people complaining about this on the Internet via bad faith arguments tells you just how little anyone other than me cares about the Eternals.
Tumblr media
Zuras: He is the leader of the Eternals, and as such is the wisest and most powerful. He’s kind of like Odin if Odin lost at Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots more often and had red hair everywhere that made him look half wizened and half like a sasquatch. When Zuras gets mad, he shoots lightning everywhere, which I guess means he’s supposed to be Zeus, but Zeus doesn’t really sound that much like Zuras.
By all accounts, Zuras, King of the Eternals, is Sir Not Appearing In This Film.
Tumblr media
Thena: Zuras’s only daughter is quick-witted and hot-headed, kind of like Sersi if Sersi were a super strong bruiser and significantly less flirty. Presumably, she inspired our legends of Athena, or I guess maybe the theistic concept of gods in general, or alternatively The Nanny. She’s always getting one-up over her father and friends, is absolutely more narratively-important than he is, and in general is extremely cool--by far my second favorite Eternal.
Tumblr media
In the upcoming film, Thena will be played by Angelina Jolie, which makes me believe she’ll be an incredibly prominent role. I am somehow completely devoid of opinions about Angelina Jolie so, I dunno anything else?
Tumblr media
Domo: Domo is featured on the cover of this issue, where we’re told he’s important. I cannot tell you a single notable thing about Domo. He’s basically like mission control or maybe a guard for the Eternals, and tells Makkari to be less rash. I don’t believe he ever does anything important in this series and I don’t believe he’s appearing in the movie either.
Anyway, so now you’re caught up on all the lore. Writing it down now, I’m realizing that it’s somehow too much and also not enough? As we’ve discussed, these characters are pretty broadly drawn. It shouldn’t take so long to introduce us to these basic archetypes. But it would surely be more interesting if we learned more about the characters? We’re five issues in and no one is well-rounded, but also no real superhero combat has happened. It’s a weird push and pull, and I wish someone would have untangled it.
Like it or not, we’re still on the lore train.
And coming next time: What’s the best title a Marvel comic ever had? I’d argue it’s GODS AND MEN AT CITY COLLEGE! Which is this issue!

Unstable World: Message in a Bottle
Primary Pairing: YohaRiko N/A Words: 494 Rating: G Fandom: Love Live Sunshine, Love Live, Love Live Nijigasaki AU: A dimension other than ours Time Frame: ??? Event: step! zero to one! Event Source: Idol Fanfic Heaven channel on Discord Content Warning: Mentions of war
---------
Author’s Note: This is the first chapter of the story I am writing for a new event on the Idol Fanfic Heaven Discord channel. This is merely a teaser trailer of sorts and I am not entirely sure when and how I will post the rest, although it will have to be on or before 06:00 UTC on the 17th, per the rules.
Summary: You are not sure what prompted you to pick up the strange device, but somehow, you knew it was safe, though you know not why. As you inspect it, some internal mechanism begins to whir and a green light appears on its surface. A moment later, the images of three young woman appear before you. Then, they begin to speak.
---------
“Hello? Is this thing on? Test. Test.”
“Yes, I already turned it on.”
“I didn’t even see you do that, Rina-chan.”
“This light indicated that it is powered on. This light indicates that it is recording.”
“Mirai, zura…”
“Go ahead and start, Hanamaru-chan.”
“Are you sure, Kotori-chan? You’re a better speaker than I am.”
“This was your idea. Rina-chan and I only helped build it.”
“Yes, but you don’t have a verb…”
“Also, Hanamaru-chan is the best archivist of all of us. You collected and compiled all of the data we are storing in these devices.”
“I agree with Kotori-san. You should have the honor of doing this, Hanamaru-chan.”
“… Alright. I will do my best. … ahem… Greetings, denizen of <Earth> … Oh, I hope the translation program works.”
“We’ve done the best we can with the knowledge we have.”
“Right, uhm… Let me try that again… Greetings, denizen of <Earth>, or whatever you call your version of this planet. The device you have found is one of many that we have sent to other dimensions. It contains records of the peoples of our world. Our history. Our art. Our accomplishments. Our hopes. Our dreams.
“And our wars.
“For over a century and a half, our world has been under attack by

suffered many losses, but we continue to fight. And
Ktzss
[Data Corrupted]
finally found something that could turn the tides of war in our favor. We do not know with certainty if Yoshi… ahem… Emperor Tsushima’s plan will work, but we cannot stay on the defensive forever. The last few decades have proven they will eventually outlast us in our increasingly desperate battle of attrition. Going on the offense may give us the advantage we need. Or doom us that much quicker.
“In the face of such uncertainty, we have sent these archive units, massive messages in magically enhanced technological bottles, into the vast sea of the void between dimensions. They are programed to seek out worlds that have not been invaded…
“Oh, but do not worry, as we have designed these devices to be undetectable, even by us, until they reach their destination. They will not act as beacons to attract any individuals not native to your dimension. Only individuals such as yourself will be able to find and use these devices once they have tuned themselves to your world
“Please bear in mind, this is not requests for aid. We have no way of knowing if your world even possesses the magicks or technologies necessary to traverse dimensions, much less the resources to provide such aid. Also, there is no reason for you or your world to attract the attention of

we ask is that you explore the information within this device. Share our stories. Tell others that we existed. Thus, even should we fail, we might at least live on in the minds of others. Thank you.”

[Recording Ended]
---------
Author’s Note Continued: I originally wanted to use this whole thing as the Summary for the overall fic. But the more I wrote, the more I became concerned that it would not fit in the character limit of AO3′s Summary window. So I guess it became a sort of Preface chapter, or the like.
Anyway, despite them not appearing in this chapter, other than a brief mention of Yohane, UW as a whole will focus mainly on YohaRiko. Other ships in my primary fleet arangement will undoubtedly make appearances, though I know not entirely how. I’ve assigned ranks and roles to everyone except Kanata - or rather, I had her assigned, but then ended up giving hers to Lanzhu instead, and haven’t reassigned her yet - and am still working out the finer details; I only made a spreadsheet and loose outline before the official start of the event, as allowed.
I chose Tier 2 in this event, which gives me a target window of a 10 - 12k word count, so I am honestly curious how much padding I may need to add, or if I already have more ideas than I can fit and will need to leave some stuff on the cutting room floor.
And finally, gods have mercy on me, I’ve created yet another fic universe... This event is supposed to encourage the creation of a one-shot, but I’ve tried to do that very thing several times, and failed. How to Handle a Nico, Putting on Hairs and Melody Air were all supposed to be one-shots, and look where they are now. Not complaining, mind. But I think I will treat Unstable World as I did with MA and intend to eventually do with PoH, insofar as I write a complete, core story that stands well enough on its own, then create a collection where I can write all of the other ideas I have for the world; MA - Fly High and PoH - Post Production so far, so UW will eventually get a similar thing.

MANIFEST NBC THEORIES - (1) ALTERNATE REALITY
i believe the plane should have crashed due to the storm it passed through, but the occurence of the dark lightening changed everything. the dark lightening has the ability to bring people through time, into the future. instead of nosediving as it should have, the plane passed through a rift created by the lightening into 2018. past that, there are multiple options as to what may have happened. i’ll pick different ones to focus on in seperate posts, and they most likely won’t be in the order listed here.
* the passengers were brought close to death, perhaps as a result of the time travel, but arriving quickly into the ‘future’ saved them.
* the plane did crash, but something with great power merged either alternate realities or timelines to save the passengers - they are still the passengers who took off in 2013, but have a merged consciousness with their alternate selves. these alternate selves are behind the voices of the callings.
* the lightening ripped a hole in time and space, creating two versions of events happening simultaneously. the first event: the plane crashes into the ocean, killing everyone on board and resulting in the discovery of the plane wing by the sea trawler. the second event: the plane passing through into the future, effectively saving the passengers lives but creating a paradox. the callings could be the universes way of balancing out the system, to heal the wounds caused by the paradox.
* the passengers have branched off into an alternate universe, as well as a new timeline; their counterparts having died in the plane crash of that world. this is a bit difficult to explain, so i’ll expand further on.*
* al-zuras’ ship and the plane existed in the same space for a brief period of time, the place where they intersect could be the passageway through time itself. (this can tie in with any theory, really.)
*THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE THEORY:
To present this theory, let me try to make things a little easier to differentiate. We’ll call the scenes taking place in 2013 World A, and the scenes taking place in 2018 World B. If the passengers have indeed entered an alternate universe, wouldn’t there exist alternate versions of themselves in that world? We know this is not the case, nor does anything seem to be any different to what the passengers remember about their lives. If this is an alternate universe situation, it’s a reality that closely mirrors the original.
The passengers aboard Flight 828 depart World A and experience major turbulence, later landing to discover that five and a half years have passed. Seeing as they were missing and presumed dead for that period, a plane would have had to have taken off in World B in 2013, the same as it did in World A. World B’s plane crashed, and World A’s plane slipped through a rift generated by the dark lightening, potentially disrupting the timeline of their own world. The fragment of the plane wing found at the end of series two is a piece of the plane from World B, which was carrying the versions of the passengers from that world.
Now, it wouldn’t make any sense for Flight 828 to have simply fallen through time and possibly dimensions by coincidence. I believe each passenger on the plane was chosen to be there; it happened to this group of people, specifically, for a reason. There has to be some kind of force or power behind this, something ancient and strong. Maybe there’s something very wrong with the balance of World B, and the passengers from World A are there to save it.
Meanwhile, in World A, the plane simply disappeared, and the World A version of the family and friends of the passengers are most likely moving on with their lives. Moving on to Captain Daly and Fiona, who attempted to repeat the process of the time travel and make it to the year 2023. If they did manage to make it through the rift, will they arrive in World B, months, weeks, or even days away from the death date? If so, they could possibly hold the key to defeating it entirely. Or will they move between universes a second time and arrive back in World A, a reality where Flight 828 never returned at all?
i hope this makes sense, and I’m not saying this theory is bulletproof/that i believe it 100%. there are many things it doesn’t take into account yet: zeke’s disappearance/death/ressurection, saanvi’s ‘cure’, the methhead trio. it’s just a possibility and some ideas i worked on. i haven’t theorised a show since pretty little liars, so it’s really nice and great to be doing this again! if you agree/disagree, or have your own spin on this theory, or just want to talk about manifest please send me a message - i’ll be all too happy to discuss it!
