Computer collection!

I have a lot of computers, usually ones I find in the trash and stuff or for cheap at thrift shops but I always love being able to fix them up and get them working again. Here’s a few of my favorite ones

I know my blog is usually poetry but I just wanted to show off my favorite computers

My MacBook Air 2013

Mac OS 11.7.10 Big Sur and Windows 10 Bootcamp

8GB Ram

This one is my newest computer, despite it being 10 years old at this point, it’s still pretty faithful so I use mainly for college assignments and stuff where I have to keep up to date

My IMac 5,1 (mid 2006)

Running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Mac OS X 10.7.5

4GB ram

This one is really interesting to me because it’s a first generation Intel Mac, technically it’s capable of Mac OS 10.4 but I haven’t been able to find a bootable image of that. It still hold up pretty well with internet browsing and works pretty well for playing stuff like half life 2 or portal.

My IMac G3 DV (Late summer 2001)

Runs Mac OS 9.2 and Mac OS X 10.4

256mb ram

This one is probably one of my favorites in my collection, it’s a beautiful machine even today and given that it’s one of the newer IMac G3’s it has a pretty good processor. I usually run it on Mac OS 9 just because I love the feeling of that version of Mac OS, it is still very internet capable in both Systems that it runs, I was able to download games for it off of Macintosh repository and Macintosh garden with ease. It does have a slight hum due to it being a crt computer but it is overall a beautiful machine.

My Toshiba Equium 8000S

Runs windows 98 SE

Centeron

128mb ram

This one is an interesting one for me because it’s just so weird. Even though now Toshiba usually makes laptops, there was a point around the millennium where Toshiba made desktop and office computers. This computer is a survivor from that era. It’s an odd one too, probably one the last beige box computers made, as that style started going out of fashion around the time this was made. I struggle with this computer a lot, since it is stuck in 16 color mode at the moment and the ide hard drive seems on the end of its life, I still appreciate it though cause it is a beautiful machine, and is very loud when it’s doing processes, which honestly sometimes makes waiting worth it. It still connects to the internet with ease through Ethernet and still has some internet accessibility. I rescued this one before it was to be recycled

One of these days I am going to have to replace poor Yayoi-Chan. She is a 2017 model and getting up there in age and starting to have serious issues but she still works for a convention computer to show things off if.

Windows Media Player 11 – good friend, who introduce me to Star Trek

So, I have a time to remember WinAmp. And it is time to remember and one more friend. As I can say, when applications – are your friends. I remember application Windows Media Player version 11. So, lots of time, during Windows Xp age, I spent into this program. I watched movies and listen to the music. I watched lots of movies in those days. And it was a time I discover to myself cheap and easy in use  internet. And video becomes a part of my life. It become a next step after vhs and dvd discs.

So, this way I open for myself a great tv series -Star Trek. And I become a big fan of this universe. I watched Star Trek Voyager, original series, Next Generation.

So, this application also is connected with introduction into Star Trek universe for me, it helps me to meet Star Trek in my life. And also, a Star Gate. Tv serial Sg-1. I watched a lot of regular movies too.

It is so great that Windows Media Player 11 is inside of system Windowes XP, it is built in Windows Xp. It is very good and exciting application. It has all you need. And music. And visualizers. And video. It even can to copy a disk. Visualizers in Windows Media Player 11 is a standalone song. Standalone theme. There are lots of them. And you can watch them for a long time. And it is like a journey. In to a world of emotions, maybe. And colors. As I think it old days.

And mainly this program is enough for use with media files. Video and music, it is very big application. Interesting visual form. You can change it. So, it also has a different visual themes. But I find only standard theme in version 11. But it works very good. And I remember how I have fun with themes in age of my Pentium 2 machine. And it has another version of program. But program is still the same.

So, it is retro media memories.

Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.

New computer is ready to go!

Holy crap, everything looks better from the monitor!

The laptop I ordered to replace the 10-year-old Dell arrived a day earlier than the ETA given. (Nice!) Synching browsers was a cinch, but apparently OneDrive files have to downloaded individually? I hope I missed something there... (At least I have an external drive ready.) Anyway, the following things are problems from the old one that have all led to me getting this one:

Sticky “W”, “D”, “1″, “4″, and left Shift keys. (I don’t think that’s an exhaustive list.)

Touchpad keys deformed from wear and tear, so much so that I avoided using them at all costs. (I lost the ability to do most gestures, aside from tapping to select or right-click, with the installation of Win10.)

Overheating issues, particularly when watching a video on another window. (Zoom is really bad about this, but it wasn’t the only culprit.)

Related to the above: Fan constantly going BRRRRR.

USB mouse stopped working when a flash drive is in use. (I think this is a fairly common problem, but I’m leery of futzing around with the drivers on it as it is.)

That time the graphics hardware stopped Firefox from working for a minute.

I don’t remember the last time I saw the battery indicator go above 43% or thereabouts. My eyes were glued to the lower right corner of my screen not long after booting up for that reason.

The old computer was made for Windows 7 in 2012; it has run Windows 10 well enough, but I doubt it will be sufficiently future-proof enough to run Win11.
