alt text is not the place for fucking commentary, ESPECIALLY if you don't describe the image at all and ONLY include your commentary.
alt text is not a cheeky aside. it's not a private whisper to your friend.
alt text is an accessibility tool. fucking use it that way.

*finishes Bat Out Of Hell for the 20th time*
What if I wrote a fic based on/inspired by this album? More importantly, can I get more people to become just as obsessed with this album as me?
I just had this blasting on my record player, singing along to both sides, and I just feel so satisfied, as well as creatively intrigued.

Album Covers
Up until 1939, albums came in a plain white sleeve, until a young graphic designer by the name of Alex Steinweiss (1917-2011) convinced Columbia Records that they’d sell more if the albums came in something that caught people’s eye. And from that came the first record album with an image. Record sales increased by nearly 900%.
Tumblr media
Smash Song Hits by Rodgers and Hart, Richard Rodgers and the Imperial Orchestra (Columbia Records, 1939) (Alex Steinweiss: The Inventor of the Modern Album Cover)
Which leads me to my favourite covers. Or at least a sample- there are so many to choose from, for so many different reasons, either personal, because of their easily recognizable image or because of their lasting significance to music. Let’s start with one that covers (no pun intended) all three:
Tumblr media
Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd (1973) Created by Storm Thorgerson, drawn by George Hardie. Thorgerson created ‘Hipgnosis’ with Aubrey Powell, a graphic art group that became known for their single and album covers. (Too, too many to list here, but you can check their WORKS page on wikipedia. I was surprised to see they did “High and Dry”, which is one of my favourite Def Leppard albums.)
Tumblr media
Love at First Sting, The Scorpions (1984) Art Design by Kochlowski and Missmahl, photo by Helmut Newton This cover was the reason I did this post! ‘Still Loving You’ came up on YouTube and I wondered what happened to the models. Couldn’t find any information on them, unfortunately. Some copies in the States just have an image of the band on the front (same as the image on the inside sleeve), because Wal-Mart demanded that Polygram reissue it with a less controversial cover. This is the band’s 9th studio album and arguably their best.
Tumblr media
Bat Out of Hell, Meatloaf (1977) Cover concept by Jim Steinman, Drawing by Richard Corben. Meatloaf’s debut album. Richard Corben was then known for his work on the magazine ‘Heavy Metal’, but he had a huge career in comics, working on everything from Hellblazer to Punisher to Hellboy. I mean, who doesn’t know this cover?
Tumblr media
News of the World, Queen (1977) Cover by American sci-fi artist, Frank Kelly Freas. It’s an alteration of his cover for Astounding Science Fiction (1953). This is the band’s 6th studio album. The one with “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” on it. (That being said, my favourite off this album is “Spread Your Wings”.)
Tumblr media
Low, David Bowie (1977) Cover design by George Underwood, using a still from the movie, ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’. George also did the covers for ‘Hunky Dory’ and ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’. George is also the guy who punched Bowie in the face, causing the paralysis in his left eye that made him look like he had two different coloured eyes.
This is Bowie’s 11th (!!) studio album, 1st in the Berlin Trilogy (the other 2 being ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger’). While it’s not my favourite album (probably the aforementioned ‘Hunky Dory’), isn’t his most distinctive cover (probably the aforementioned ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’), nor has any song that a casual listener might recognize (but please, listen to ‘Sound and Vision’), I just like the image. I don’t know why. I find it a very calming image, almost oddly ‘normal’ for Bowie.

The Crossing
What’s your all-time favorite album? Choosing my favourite album is not an easy task,as I have so many, but there are 3 albums I can always narrow it down to. My favourite songwriter was Jim Steinman, therefore Meatloaf’s Bat out of Hell (1977) and Bat out of Hell II Back into Hell (1993) alongside Big Country’s The Crossing (1983) are those three. As much as I love the collaboration of Jim…

The ghouls music taste - HC
I think Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Lana Del Rey and David Bowie is pack favorites, like that’s what they’re gonna play on full volume in the car
Rain
Rain is definitely an alternative rock girlie, he loves Muse and you can’t change my mind on that. His favorite Muse song is definitely micro cuts or spiral static. He just loves all their guitar sounding vocals, those old emo vibes songs and basically everything about them. His favorite album is probably Origin of symmetry and Showbiz. And he likes MCR and Suizid, cus like, he’s emo
Dew
He’s a Mike’s dead fan by heart, he knows every single word of every single song, like hell blast Bite down on full volume and scream the lyrics, it just makes him feel better. And he’s Aether’s Rob zombie friend (every Alice cooper fan needs a rob zombie fan and the other way around) And he’s a sabaton fan cus he’s a little nerdy about history.
Swiss
Swiss’s motto is: “the older, the better” and: “anything after 1999 sucks” He likes the old country rock like, Eagles. He also likes Santana, like c’mon, Santana is a guitar genius. There’s always some chill music coming from his room. Oh, and he listens to Paleface Swiss unironically (even though they are a new band)
Mountain
He’s a bit like Swiss but he’s not against new music (most of the time) but the song James Dean by Eagles always hits hard. He listens to the strokes and thin lizzy in the green house, but if he’s not with his plants he likes to listen to techno metal, or any type if metal, really, his favorite song is Undead by Hypnosaur.
Aether
Dad music. Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, and his alltime favorite Meatloaf. He vibes with almost everything tho, hell vibe with Rains high pitched emo screaming, Dews angsty rap/rock but especially Rob zombie, Swiss’s old country rock, Mountains techno metal and chill oldies, and on like so. He doesn’t listen to music that much but if the others are playing music he won’t ask them to turn it down, he’ll vibe with them
Phantom
Phantom’s favorite song will always be Bat out of hell by Meatloaf. He also likes Muse, but not like Rain, he likes their new stuff better like Simulation theory and the 2:nd law, he’s emo but not that emo. He definitely likes Nickleback, Yungblud, Bring me the horizon and Bad religion. His favorite songs are Anesthesia by Bad religion and Fire escape by Call me karizma. He has a kinda love/hate relationship with Map of the problematique by Muse because he listened to it religiously when he was summoned and now he can’t help but cry when he hears it.
Cumulus
Elton John, Dire states and Greta van fleet. She loves crocodile rock by Elton John and it always makes her laugh when she watches him perform it on The muppet show. But like Aether she’ll vibe with pretty much anything
Cirrus
Cirrus likes the vibe of kinda dark doom metal/rock. She loves bands like The ocean and Soen and their song Hollowed. She’s a sabaton fan because they are super cool too and she’ll occasionally enjoy some good old Rammstein or The cure
Aurora
She likes a lot of different music, and if you put her playlist on shuffle, someone will end up with a whiplash injury. She’s a Louis Tomlinson fan, her favorite song is Angels fly and she loves five finger death punch. She’s Phantom’s Machine Gun Kelly friend (every Yungblud fan needs to have a MGK friend) chances are high that you’ll find her with Phantom jaming out to bodybag or acting like that by MGK and Yungblud
Copia
He is definitely a måneskin fan and his rats are named after them. I think he likes old bands like whitesnake and Lynyrd Skynyrd but his altime favorite song will forever be Brother Louie by Modern talking

2/17/24 - A Week of Love Songs 7.) Meatloaf - "You Took the Words Right Out of my Mouth"
youtube
Perhaps not as esoteric as some of the previous choices earlier this week. But for those growing up after the '70s, it might provide a bit of a new perspective, particularly the intro to the song. The official videos from the Bat Out Of Hell album show a pretty, young, dark haired lady, Karla Devito singing with Meatloaf, but she's not really the singer. The female vocalist on the album is Ellen Foley. She couldn't do the tour following the album's release because she accepted the role of Billie Young on TV's Night Court. So the videos used Karla, who did the tour. Foley only did two seasons of Night Court, being replaced in season three by Markie Post. Jim Steinman, who wrote the songs and produced the album (along with Todd Rundgren), did the lead in vocals ("On a hot summer night...") along with Marcia McClain. Yea, I know it's more than you THOUGHT you needed to know, but children, it's all part of your Rock and Roll heritage. You're welcome.

Hey Fern! I'm back with another one!
Like I mentioned to you, for some weird reason, I have a strong association with Bradley and the Song "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf (It's from the album Bat Out of Hell, and it actually has been used as a musical tour, so I guess that counts?)
Anyway, you said to send it in, so I look forward to seeing what you come up with (Something brilliant as always!!!)
Lucky ☘️💛
Tumblr media
“And now our bodies are oh so close and tight” / “It never felt so good, it never felt so right.”
Is it bad I want to live in this moodboard? Like for real Lucky, Bradley and this song are the perfect combination… got my thoughts wandering real bad and this is now 100% the song that will play in my brain when I think of our Rooster. You can’t tell me that he didn’t play this song out at least once…
Find the moodboard masterlist here!

My love is mine all mine: Valentines day special (Late!)
Valentines Day was today and lots of couples came into the bistro. Vince put out a special for today and it was about the only thing sold that day. Once the bistro closed Vince was making sure everything was put in place.
"Doing anything special today?" Rody was still here whichever shock Vincent but his expression didn't change.
"No I'm not, you doing anything?" Vince was genuinely curious, but the tone and his face expression said otherwise.
"I would, but my girl isn't picking up the phone, so I won't today." Vine thought for a second, but his words spilled out his mouth before realizing it.
"Come over to my place for Valentines day."
"What?" Vince tried to come up with something to cover up his awkwardness. Thank God his face was turned away from Rody, a splash of was on his cheeks.
"This day isn't the best day be alone, and its your birthday, so come over to my place." Hopefully Rody didn't notice the nervousness in Vince's voice.
  "Sure what time?"
  "7 sharp."
"Got it seen you then!" Rody's smiled left the building, pink was slapped back on Vince's cheek.
Get yourself together Vincent you shouldn't act like this!
He then left to go to his apartment.
--------------------
6:59. Vince wore an all black outfit, his hair looked slicked back. Then a knocked on his door, Vince went to open it and there was Rody, he looked out of breath, and wearing his casual outfit.
"Did...I....make....it?" Vince looked at the time.
7 o'clock
"Barley, Idiot, get inside." Rody step in and shut the door behind him.
"I made some meatloaf, if you want anything." Vince nod his head to the meatloaf on the counter. Rody passed on it.
The two sat in awkward silence.
"What do you usually do on your birthday?" Vince tried to break the awkwardness.
"I would go out with my girlfriend for dinner and just talk with her." Vince face looked a little pissed.
  "Anything else?"
"Oh! We dance! Have you ever danced Vince?" Rody's question answered with a head shake, there was a sad look on the gingers face.
Rody got up and looked around the apartment and saw a record player and looked at the Albums.
  "Do you mind?"
"Not at all." Vince poured a glass of wine. Rody grab and album and carefully pulled out the record and set it carefully on the player. Then her put the little hand on the record as music plays.
(Play song here)
Rody walks over to Vince and put his hand out.
"May I?" Vince felt the blood rush to his cheeks but it didn't appear that much. Putting his glass down and took Rody's hand..it felt warm as the sun, Vince's hand felt cold and freezing.
"I'll take the lead in this one ok?" One hand was in Vince's, others on Vince's hip. Vince's hand was on Rody's shoulder. They started doing a waltz as Rody leads Vince's body.
"One-two-three, one-two-three," Rody counts in his head. The two were barely touching the ground at this point. Vince was shocked how good Rody was at dancing. Out of nowhere Rody Spins Vince's body like it was nothing Rody's laughter filled the air.
Baster. Vince had a smile on his face as he was drop to the ground again, clearly dizzy Rody held onto Vince, their faces where inches apart.
"You good?" Rody double checks on Vince just to make sure he was ok.
"Promise not to quit after I do this."
  "What?"
Cold lips found a pair of warm lips.
If it wasn't perfect nothing was at that moment. Vince hand cuped Rody's cheek as they pressed their lips against eachother. Unexpected Rody was push back into the couch a small chuckle left Rody's lips.
"Do you wanna continue?" Vince immediately placed his Lips back on Rody's for a moment...Nothing matter.
After a few minutes they released eachother from their arms. Sitting back up in the couch Rody and Vince where getting their gasp of air.
"I made some Cake if you want any." Rody nods as they enjoyed a slice.
---------------
Fuck. Vince woke up the pink painted on his cheeks. It was just a dream....why did it feel so real?
------ 717 words
Note this chapter is a special and not part my story i just wanted to make it :)
