Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park (No. 13)
Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. The structure built by the Ancestral Puebloans is located in Mesa Verde National Park in their former homeland region. The cliff dwelling and park are in Montezuma County, in the southwestern corner of Colorado, in the Southwestern United States.
Tree-ring dating indicates that construction and refurbishing of Cliff Palace was continuous approximately from 1190 CE through 1260 CE, although the major portion of the building was done within a 20-year time span. The Ancestral Puebloans, also known as Anasazi, who constructed this cliff dwelling and the others like it at Mesa Verde were driven to these defensible positions by "increasing competition amidst changing climatic conditions". Cliff Palace was abandoned by 1300, though debate is ongoing as to the cause. Some contend that a series of megadroughts interrupting food production systems was the main cause.
Cliff Palace was rediscovered in 1888 by Richard Wetherill and Charlie Mason while they were looking for stray cattle.

“Mesa and the Electric Ballerina”
This is the follow up to my Duviri video “Love Letter To Duviri” https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxLgcTzu8rR/?igsh=MWFqcHlsbjFlaGt5ZA==
instagram
I started filming this video last summer 😅 but I got hung up on the editing. As I mentioned in past post, I started making this to teach myself video editing and whatnot. I got stuck on this one and had to get help from a friend, who is a video editor professionally, to help me finish this video. It’s still in post but I hope to have it out before Tennocon. Since I don’t do a ton of camera movements, I focused on composition (pretty much my approach for all of my videos.

There isn’t really much of a story, however, the song o used for this video (Green Valley by Puscifer) Mesa plays the role of the stranger and she’s searching for the Electric Ballerina, Gyre. Hope you guys enjoy it once it drops. I don’t have any experience with animation, so forgive me for it being a little repetitive. Limited to emotes and idol animations lol

Ps. As always, the video is a slow burn lol so just enjoy the music 🤣

Mesa Verde National Park (No. 21)
The Cliff Palace Overlook is the first stop 6-mile (10 km) Cliff Palace Loop Road. Recent studies reveal that Cliff Palace contained 150 rooms and 23 kivas and had a population of approximately 100 people. Out of the nearly 600 cliff dwellings concentrated within the boundaries of the park, 75% contain only 1-5 rooms each, and many are single room storage units. If you visit the Cliff Palace overlook you will view an exceptionally large dwelling which may have had special significance to the original occupants. It is thought that Cliff Palace was a social, administrative site with high ceremonial usage.
