Kosoushi figure skater AU with some Kosomiwa (which I've actually thought of before)
Kosoushi is an ex-hockey player turned figure skater who is overshadowed by his parent Kazuki, who was a star athlete and Olympiad. But then Kazuki fell ill and family drama ensues with Kosoushi resenting his parents for not fully being there and supporting him when he got kicked off the team (Soushi essentially dedicated his entire career to save Kazuki somehow).
Then he caught the attention of Michio Hino, a former figure skater and coach. Kosoushi is taken under his wing, only to learn that he has a daughter named Miwa who aspires to be an idol since her mom couldn't make it in the industry.
Michio had wanted her to follow his footsteps, but she refused and instead kept trying for auditions. Too bad she's not actually good at singing (which Kosoushi points out during their first meeting).
But Kosoushi knows she's a talented dancer. And together, they can take on the skating world....with trending idol songs.
((It's reverse Reddogs/Supinamarada but one of the pair wanted to be an idol))

As a general rule, a lot of characters who had bit roles in the past got more bit roles due to episodic nature of the show. Because ZEXAL had a huge budget, a lot of high profile actors are here for bit roles as glorified cameos.

Kazuki's everyday routine was mundane and calm. He woke up, fixed breakfast for himself and his father, went to work, spent time with his friends in the evening, went home, made dinner, went to sleep, and rinse and repeat.
No Festums, or attacks from the NUN-- only everyday life. It was something Kazuki had learned to accept and get used to, as he faced the fact that he no longer could fight.
Occasionally, though, this routine would change. Whenever Kazuki had the day off, he would do things a little differently and go out to get some exercise.
It was a fun side activity for Kazuki that he usually did alone. However, today, things would be different, and that was because he had convinced Soushi to join him.
His friend didn't seem all that thrilled about the idea, but he still agreed to join him.
Kazuki stretched as he waited outside of Soushi's door. It was early in the morning, but not so early that Soushi would be asleep. However, he knew how Soushi was on vacation. After a moment, Maya answered the door.
“Kazuki-kun?”
“Is Soushi up?” Kazuki asked, trying to keep his eyes on her face and not her scarce attire, which looked like a shirt Kazuki knew was Soushi's and shorts that made him wonder if they were actually shorts.
Maya nodded her head, then closed the door and turned around. Kazuki patiently waited, watching the sky as clouds shifted along. He looked around the yard and smiled wryly. Didn't seemed like they had done much to it yet.
After a while, the door opened and Soushi came out lightly dressed and looking tired. Kazuki smiled at him then said, “Ready?” Soushi didn't look too thrilled, which only made Kazuki want to laugh.
Soushi nodded his head then walked up to Kazuki.
The path Kazuki had decided for them to jog was from Soushi's home to the Nishio shop, to Rakuen, then finally to the beach. Soushi had looked at him like he was crazy when he introduced the idea, but didn't object.
As they jogged, Kazuki occasionally stole a few glances at Soushi to see how he was doing. He seemed fine, although he looked a little too focused which caused Kazuki to sigh. This guy just had to do everything awkwardly, didn't he? “Soushi, you can at least try to relax.”
Soushi furrowed his brow as he tried to keep up with Kazuki. “How can I relax when exerting so much energy…” he mumbled, which caused Kazuki to laugh at him. This was exerting energy?
“Soushi, I think you should join me for this more often.”
Soushi groaned again, which only amused Kazuki further. They continued to jog down the road, until Kazuki saw something that caught his attention and he sped up. Soushi furrowed his brow but followed him, trailing behind.
Kazuki stopped at a sidewalk where he saw a bench and a vending machine, there he spotted Miwa crouched down playing with some stray cats. He approached her and placed his hands on his hip as he said, “And what exactly are you doing here, Miwa-chan?”
Miwa looked up at him with wide eyes, as if she had just been caught doing something she wasn't supposed to, and loudly exclaimed, “Big brother Kazuki!?"
Kazuki looked around and noticed he hadn't seen any of her parents around and furrowed his brows. “Miwa-chan, don't tell me you snuck out again?” Kazuki said scoldingly.
Miwa fidgeted and averted her eyes away from Kazuki. “I got bored… Mommy is at work and Daddy was asleep…”
“So you snuck out…” Kazuki sighed. Even though he had plans with Soushi, he couldn't just leave Miwa here. He turned around to Soushi and said, “Um… do you mind if we take a detour?”
Soushi tilted his head, but did not object and simply followed Kazuki as he walked Miwa home. He didn't have much of a problem with this sudden change a pace as it was a good time to catch his breath. He didn't have Kazuki's level of stamina.
Miwa hummed a tone the two could only guess she heard on TV, as she walked a little ahead of the two. Kazuki smiled fondly at her and Soushi finally decided to ask something that was on his mind.
“Does this happen often?” Soushi asked, drawing Kazuki's attention away from Miwa temporarily.
“Common enough to where I'm surprised when it doesn't happen.”
“Michio-san and Yumiko-sensei are aware of this, right?” Soushi questioned, his brow quirked up curiously. It sounded odd that she managed to continue to sneak out without being noticed so much.
“As far as I know… nope. Michio-san is always knocked out when she sneaks out and still sleeping when she gets back, and she never does it when Yumiko-sensei is home so… no one knows. Er, excluding me and you, of course.”
“You neglected to inform her parents?”
“We used to do that type of thing a lot when we were kids, so I didn't think it was that important.”
“I guess you have a point but…” Soushi trailed off as his eyes landed on Miwa, happily humming a song. He thought it was dangerous for her to sneak out on her own, but Kazuki seemed to keep an eye on her whenever she did, and Miwa looked like she really enjoyed herself so... Soushi sighed. “Fine…”
Kazuki chuckled, then smiled. “Thank you, big brother Soushi,” Kazuki said, in a sing-song tone.
“Please don't call me that…”
After a short while, they made it to the Hino home and Miwa thanked them both before making her way inside and closing the door quietly so as not to wake her still sleeping father.
Kazuki held his hands behind his back and swayed from side to side, before turning his attention to Soushi and saying, “How about a race?” This suggestion was really less of a fun idea he suddenly came up with and more of an easy way to get Soushi to buy him a snack.
Soushi didn't look too pleased and Kazuki still hadn't even said what the point of the race was. “A race?” he questioned curiously, yet still sounding very cautious.
“Mm, last one to the Nishio shop has to pay for what the other wants.”
Soushi frowned at those words. “You do realize the chances of me beating you are extremely low, if not zero.”
“Believe in yourself, Soushi.”
“You can say that because you know that you will win.”
Kazuki laughed. That was completely true, but he wasn't going to simply admit that. “See you there!” Kazuki shouted before he started to run off.
“Ka-Kazuki!?” Soushi shouted after him then began to chase him. He didn't have the stamina for this. In fact, he just wanted to sleep all day and not get up. But at the same time, he really wanted to beat Kazuki.
Kazuki was nice in the sense that he slowed down though because he did start off ahead of him. Soushi was able to catch up, but at the end of the day, he still could not defeat Kazuki.
Soushi hunched over in front of the store as Kazuki laughed at him triumphantly. This was unfair. He had no winning chance in the first place, Kazuki was just trying to get him to pay for him! When he finally caught his breath he glared at Kazuki then said, “What do you want?”
Kazuki's smile remained as he approached Soushi and grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the shop. Kazuki wanted some weird new candy. It wasn't expensive, but was definitely odd. Kazuki looked like he enjoyed the treat as he smiled and said, “Thank you, Soushi!”
“You like that type of stuff?”
“Mm, the salty sourness that coat it before you get to the sweet part is nice,” Kazuki answered, the smile on his face holding a childlike innocence as he rolled the candy around in his mouth.
Soushi watched as Kazuki danced in place as he ate the candy. The sight was almost cute. Eventually Kazuki stopped his swaying then said, “We can rest at Rakuen… if you want?”
“I would like that,” Soushi responded, which for some reason, caused Kazuki to laugh.
***
They simply walked to Rakuen instead of racing or jogging. Soushi was happy about it because that was less energy he needed to expend.
When they walked into the cafe, they were greeted by Mizoguchi and Akira. Mizoguchi jokingly asked Kazuki, “Coming in for overtime?” However, Kazuki simply chuckled and shook his head then took a seat at a table, while Soushi sat opposite of him.
Akira approached them and asked what they wanted. Kazuki looked to Soushi with a grin then turned his attention back to Akira. “I'll have whatever Soushi is having.” Soushi furrowed his brow from Kazuki's words, clearly not wanting to be responsible for Kazuki's meal.
“A sandwich and a straight espresso.”
Kazuki made a face at the drink, but didn't say anything until Akira walked away. “You had to order it straight?” Kazuki complained, giving Soushi a look of displeasure. Soushi simply folded his arms and raised an eyebrow.
“You are the one who decided to order whatever I got.”
Kazuki sighed, then looked out the window, deciding to drop the subject. “Guess we didn't do much jogging in the end.”
“Your standards were too high for someone as out of shape as me anyway.”
“Your standards are too low and that's why you are so out of shape.”
Soushi and Kazuki stared at each other defiantly for a minute before laughing. Their lifestyles really did clash at times--Soushi, who preferred to sleep in his free time, and Kazuki, who would rather exercise outdoors.
After a moment, Akira brought them their orders and Kazuki stared at the cup of coffee defiantly. He wasn't a fan of the bitterness of black coffee. He preferred his with cream.
“I can always drink yours for you.”
Kazuki looked up from the cup and at Soushi then quickly shook his head. “I asked for it so therefore, I have to drink it!” He then grabbed the cup with both hands and took a sip, but immediately grimaced afterwards, causing Soushi to laugh.
“There is something oddly satisfying about this after you forced me to race you,” Soushi mumbled with a grin on his face as he watched Kazuki try to drink the coffee.
Kazuki looked at him scandalized. “You ordered this just to spite me didn't you!?”
Soushi's grin shifted to a soft smile as he leaned his chin on the palm of his hand. “Maybe.”
Kazuki opened his mouth as if to say something before eventually he sighed. “I deserve this.” After all, he did only invite Soushi out today so that he could tease him.
Kazuki decided that next time he would go easy on his friend.

About Canon Memphis and Michio Hino in Dead Aggressor
(Cringey, stupid non-analysis ahead while rewatching DA so bear with me. Also, apologies since I wasn't raised as a Catholic)
Canon is seen entering her first battle in Dead Agressor quoting the Books of Revelation. Being the nerd that I am, I decided to see if her name has Roman Catholic origins (considering she's Irish) and lo and behold.
Canon's whole schtick in D.A is that she's unyielding and only does whatever is dictated by the Human Force and by extension N.U.N and would not deviate from her orders even a bit. This is in contrast to her superior, Michio Hino, who's all about having 'fun' during a battle (frankly disturbing and not at all very Tatsumiyajima islander-like).
And his code name is Triple-Six
The first time I found out I was like "geez what an edgelord" which is not too far-fetched considering one of his childhood friends is an idol wannabe and the other is a mysterious-type chick with mustache-curling tendencies. But then I remember that 666 is often made synonymous with Lucifer in pop culture (at least from my non-Christian understanding anyway)
And whaddya know 666 is identified as the Number of the Beast as mentioned in the Book of Revelation (13:15–18) which was the same book that Canon quoted from in episode 11. And from what I understand, the beasts mentioned in that book are in opposition to God.
In the context of Fafner, Michio is the one who's laxer and more likely to defy authority, in this case, the Neo U.N, who to Canon is essentially the church. Like, she literally has nothing to hold onto but the N.U.N at this point because she was abandoned as a child and the N.U.N picked her up.
Her N.U.N superior Michio (a.k.a Triple-Six) is the closest thing Canon has to a parent and this is their dynamic:
I can't decide whether to commend Ubukata for this choice or just think of it as a purely aesthetic choice because it doesn't seem to have any connection to the overall Nordic/Germanic mythology theme they're going with.
I don't know, what do you think @fafnerophile? (Also other Fafner fans who'd like to chime in)
You must not forget your past - Chapter 42 (Fafner AU fanfiction)
XIII was a girl used by rebels to fight against the army, in order to conquer the world.
But one day, a man who deserted rebels decided to ask help to the army to save her once for all.
Eight years later, the girl must face again the ghosts and people from her past.
In this AU some characters have a different personality for most of the story and there are some original characters.
And some characters from original series are still alive.
