what's up, im still spiralling during this rewatch and i have been considering how miss loathing and the house of wayward interests is INSANE.
what makes these children different? these aren't the grown distractions that the fix has to handle, these are beings that the fix cares about. liking magic, reptiles, the bass, all of these are hobbies or things that elias has likely Hyperfixated on.
(also do we think that Fix and Lance are related like Self Loathing and Self Doubt their first name is their family name?)
ANYWAY, when the fix said that there is a lot of life left, that these kids can be chosen. self loathing implies that he would be the one to adopt them. but that makes Sense. the fix is a concept that doesn't consider himself powerful outside of a physical sense but he, like A. Tension, is a representation of what the Big Guy cares about. And the fix is currently owned basically by Bition.
But even he gets distracted. He goes to Miss Loathing's and he sees these kids just like Elias has solid his soul to the company but still knows all these animal facts.
These kids aren't just in the city either. They are actively watched by Self-Loathing. Every kid that the Fix sees is also shadowed by Loathing, Elias hates himself when he loses focuses. When he goes down those paths, thinking about reptiles or has fun with a deck of cards, or even listens to a sick bassline.
But this also shows a change for Conrad. Conrad lived in Miss Loathing's home for a while. He, like all the other kids, were shadowed by Self-Loathing within Elias. UNTIL, he met and adopted JUSTIFICATION. Then he became a super weak voice in the back of his head. Just a bit more awareness still buried under Nothing, until one random impulse followed by an air of curiosity suddenly set everything off.
And Bition made his own downfall or saving grace by sending the Fix to Conrad. Miss Loathing said it, focusing on her only makes her stronger. Focusing on your conscience? You suddenly can't stop thinking about it. Makes it louder, bolder. God I love this season.

Know what absolutely kills me about Wyll is that his mantra is “it’s okay, the only person it’s hurting is me”
He’s forced into selling his soul to save the city: “I can’t regret it, it saved people and the only person it’s hurting is me”
Letting Karlach live knowing it will violate his contract: “The only person it will hurt is me”
Putting himself in danger endlessly so at least the powers he has will go to some use before he’s dragged to hell, knowing it risks him dying young and being trapped there early: “The only person it will hurt is me.”
I know for a fact that if he were given the power to make the decision re: selling his soul again to save his father in act 3, he would do exactly that. The only person it hurts is him, and over and over he’s marked himself an acceptable casualty in any situation.

I know Percy's desperately trying to escape the godly world but not only do I think the gods aren't going to leave percy alone once he's in New Rome, I also think Percy's in the situation now where he can't refuse at all because like, if he was in the mortal world at a mortal college he at least would be able to try and be like "sorry I can't do a quest right now I've already used up my three excused absences this semester try again in the spring :/" but in New Rome? They will be like "Percy! It is an honor to be hand-selected for a quest. And by the gods no less! Stars above, you should be grateful! I don't know what your little greek camp has taught you but here in Rome, we respect the gods' requests. Your absence will be excused. Now go."

the fix is one of the characters of all time. he’s played by hank green doing a vaguely southern accent. he literally cannot be stealthy. he uses the power of autism for both intimidation and flirting. he’s the biggest guy and made friends with the smallest guy as soon as he got the chance. he discovered choice and free will. he tried to say his boss’s hair looked nice and didn’t realize he had a hat on. him and his autistic wife adopted a whole orphanage of autistic children so they’re a giant autism family. really just everything

my nana wants me to fear getting old so bad. “before you know it you’ll be 30!” and WHAT. and what. am i supposed to be sad about that. am i supposed to run from my life forever. so many people don’t even make it out of their fucking 20′s. and the expectation that i should be upset if i do, because my tits might sag a bit more or because i won’t exist in the enigmatic throes of youth anymore, is beyond ridiculous. the glory days are an entirely fickle made-up concept that never really served me anyway so excuse me for not constructing my entire self around them. i don’t care about the anti-aging agenda. it’s a good thing to live a long time

Y'know... A lot of ZaDr fics have them either gradually drifting into a less contentious status quo or establishing a deeply bizarre multilayered dynamic that is nonetheless very consistent and beholden to its own rules—which works, to be clear, because slavish adherence to the rhythm of their endless 'game' is already their canon baseline.
WITH THAT BEING SAID. I think it would be very funny to depict a ZaDr dynamic in which they're like, on-again off-again nemeses. As they get older theyre gradually forced to acknowledge the true depth of their mutual attachment, but instead of actually improving themselves in any lasting way or compromising the conflicting elements into an ill-definable state of contentious codependence, they just start oscillating wildly between periods of obscenely clingy allyship and devotedly murderous enmity. There's never an in between. They'll dedicate all their energy to trying to horrifically torture each other to death, until one of them gets uncomfortably close to actually dying or an external crisis pushes them together or they just get bored—at which point, they become obnoxiously glued at the hip until one of them relapses into anxiety about their ambitions or an argument escalates past the the point of no return or they just get bored. And every time they both Really Mean It, They're Not Gonna Do This Anymore, before naturally going ahead and doing it again

lucy’s story is much more detailed in this doc. in it, several fics that i’m working on have been linked in that. i’ll be posting updates on any fics i may write on this blog, and like probably on my main @eld-red
my lucy pfp was drawn by @ homkamiro on instagram, and i have been losing my marbles ever since i saw her. i love lucy, if you will.
