Religious Vampires Discussion
There's a whole field of Jewish and Muslim vampire fiction that needs to be developed.
How does faith exist alongside fangs?
What do you do when the very food you most need is a sin?
How does it affect your relationship with your community?
Really, there's so much to explore.
I’m gonna blaze this down the road, because this is so important to me to know.

I feel like way too many people want to woobify at least one of the main characters in the first season (be it Lestat or Louis at least) that many miss out on the complicated aspects of their behaviors and mistake understanding said aspects and talking about them to excusing them.
But one thing in particular that I've noticed is that given the proper lack of context for Armand as a character (since we firstly see him in the background as a servant and only in the last minute as a powerful vampire), a lot of people are jumping through hoops to label Louis as another helpless victim despite Armand's actual quotes about him. "I care for him more than he cares for himself"/"This time I won't spare [Daniel's] life."/"Louis can sometimes act out." Like I don't mean to say that Louis is running this entire situation because he obviously isn't, but it's clear that he IS making choices like requesting Daniel to come visit him for another interview, showing him Claudia's diaries and discussing in length about vampire lore and his own history, in spite of Armand apparently not agreeing with that because it may lead to Louis' death at the hands of other vampires. The most significant rule about vampires is that you do not talk about vampire lore to a human, right? This is why Lestat doesn't tell Louis about how he can read his mind/push his thoughts in his head/stop time right up until Lestat offers Louis the chance to become a vampire. Armand doesn't even reveal himself to be another powerful vampire to Daniel up until the last moment, so it's clear that he doesn't agree with the interview necessarily nor with Daniel being there, but Louis wants him to be there so he allows it.
This is why labeling Louis as a helpless victim in the hands of another "monster" is just robbing him of his own agency in putting himself in this situation. Because yes, Armand IS more powerful but Louis is also in repeated denial of his own flaws and actions that paint him to be as less kind and righteous in front of others (Daniel) and even to Claudia within his story. It's much easier for Louis to paint Daniel a picture made up of rehearsed lines and skewed memories than it is for him to even tell himself the truth, that he loved Lestat and chose him over Claudia. It's also much easier for Louis to take part in Armand's life and penthouse and live in complete isolation in order to deem himself a "master of his own instincts". When you have your food delivered to you, your living space managed by someone else, completely devoid of any particular furniture or even colors that would remind you of anything, not coming out of that space or mingling with regular humans, it's so much easier to act like you're in complete control of your instincts and emotions. This is also why Armand even has to be near Louis in certain moments in order to calm him down before Louis starts to snap in front of Daniel.
Point being, what Louis and Armand may have as a romantic relationship is obviously not one that is specifically good for Louis in the long term, but it's likely one he thinks he needs if he can even go on functioning. Why else would he want his flaws and his outbursts omitted from Claudia's diaries? Why else would he want to pretend he is above all these vampires who "give in" to their instincts when he is pretty much not even tempting himself or his emotions by going outside and talking to people who aren't Armand or some random servants until Daniel shows up?

okay but what if they keep Armand as a Muslim character (ie: it’s not just a part of his “Rashid” identity)... what if it’s revealed that as a human he was a citizen of the Crimean Khanate (a Turkic khanate and Ottoman Empire protectorate)...

if there was a Muslim vampire do you think they would still fast during Ramadan? And like would it be reversed (no drinking blood during nighttime) or still the same hours... much to think about 🤔
Ooooh! Muslim vampires would need to follow the sun in order to pray and fast…. So they’d have to be up at least partially during the day 🫡!! I can see it like how today Muslims who work night shifts put alarms during their daytime sleeps to wake themselves up for prayers.
As for blood during ramadan… theyd need to fast normally so they’d only be allowed to drink during the night, which works in their favor hehe. If anything it could be harder if the general population stays awake longer into the night during Ramadan like Muslim countries tend to do… 🧕🏻🧛‍♀️

Like do vampires only shriek/get hurt by the sight of a crucifix or does every other religious symbol affect them?
Like do they only have beef with christianity or beef with every religious figure out there?
Or more specifically, do other Abrahamic symbols affect them just as much as the cross does?
Does the christian fish symbol also affect them? Like can i pull out a fish and just, throw it.

anyway I think Assad Zaman is lovely and he nails the Armand Deadpan™ and has perfect hair LOL I just think like it's silly that he's 38 years old and the reveal is extremely bad writing. I don't trust this team to write him at all, and they've already changed a lot of the stuff in the story that removes or changes his narrative function and there's a lot of other glaring deficits in the writing of S1 that really damaged my trust in them to pull it off or be respectful. I'm sure I'll complain about it a lot for the foreseeable future. :)

I want to ask you two things
1) Does Dobson knows about the existence of this blog?
2) Did You know that You inspired another blog similar to yours called the inmmaturity of Thomas Astruc? (That's the creator of Miraculous) that blog basically wants to do the same thing as yours, call out all the bullshit that Thomas says on his social media
1. He did. Found out about me fairly soon after he started tumblr again, but only would refer to me as “the harassment blog” or in the vaguest of terms in means of trying to get sympathy. He only fully acknowledged the blog shortly before he fully quit and the whole thing with his “Cabin’s Rest” comic, aka the Muslim Vampire comic.
2. I do, actually. They brought it up to me shortly before they started the blog and we talk occasionally. Blog does good work, if anyone watches/watched Miraculous Ladybug, you should check it out.

Somewhere (Sequel to Your Name)
Summary: While having a drink, Freya meets the mystery woman again.
(The reader is uses she/her pronouns and is 18+. The ethnicity/race is any.)
(Y/N) = Your Name
(E/C) = Eye Color
Tumblr media
"Miss Mikaelson," a familiar voice brought Freya out of her thoughts and she turned around to see the mysterious woman from the ball.
She never told me her name, Freya remembered. Something had happened at the ball that needed her attention and before she could probably say goodbye, the woman had disappeared, leaving her confused and slightly heart broken at her departure.
"What're you drinking," the woman asked, taking a seat next to her.
The bar they were in was not Rousseau's, but was still close to the compound, and Freya wanted to get a drink somewhere that mostly had humans and none who would recognize her or her family.
"Whiskey," Freya answered, looking at the side of the woman's face. It's been a week and she still couldn't help but stare at the woman's strange, mysterious beauty.
"Maybe,... I'll get the same thing," the woman said, raising her hand to call over the bartender.
"No, you won't," Freya told her, lowering the woman's hand before the bartender could see. "Tell me your name."
"My name?"
"You never told me. I want to know."
The woman chuckled and looked at Freya with mirth. "Why you want to know so bad? Huh?"
"I just do. You know my name. My family’s name. You still haven't told me how you know it."
"Anyone that lives in New Orleans long enough knows of your family, Freya. Human or not."
She picked up her glass and took a sip before asking, "What are you?"
"What am I?"
"That night, you were standing with Marcel and his vampires, but you seemed out of place there. I asked you what you were, but you never told that either. And you keep appearing out of nowhere. So what are you?"
"You can't recognize your own kind, Freya. That's strange." That familiar twinkle was back in her eyes.
"Witch?"
Smiling, the woman scooted her seat closer to Freya's and picked up her glass, taking a sip from it as well. She kept eye-contact with Freya as she drank and for some unknown reason, Freya could feel a warm sensation in her stomach beginning to travel lower at the bold action. She didn't know what it was about the woman, but she intrigued her. A lot. To the point that Freya wasn't sure if it was healthy how much she wanted her even though the woman barely gave any information about herself.
"I know you're still suspicious of me, Freya. I don't blame you. Your family is known for making enemies, but I don't really care about them. I care about you."
"Why? Why only me?" Freya asked, not wanting to, but accidentally letting some of her emotion come through on her face and in her voice. It's not that she had a low self-esteem or anything, but most people who claim to only want her or only want just one of her siblings (romantically or as friends) usually wanted to take advantage of them, and use their feelings to kill her family. Even though this woman was constantly shrouded in mystery, she didn't get the vibe that she was trying to use her. It felt like the woman was actually interested in her for her.
"I really like you. From the moment I saw you at the ball looking bored as fuck, I liked you."
Nodding her head, Freya took her glass back and drunk from it. "Then why not tell me your name? Why make it a big mystery to someone you supposedly 'like' so much?"
"I don't trust people that easily. I think a person's name-whether it's real or fake-is a personal thing."
Freya reached for her glass again, but before she could pick it up, the woman laid her hand over hers and gave it a gentle squeeze. The action was tender and sweet, making Freya turn to see the woman leaning in close to her.
"I want you to trust me... to know I'm not up to anything and that I truly want to get to know you, before I tell you my name... is (Y/N)."
(Y/N), Freya repeated in her head, looking into the woman's (E/C) eyes.
"(Y/N)," Freya repeated aloud, a small smile on her face as she began to admire the woman's beauty again. "Nice name."
The woman didn't say anything. Instead she reached for Freya's glass again and quickly downed the rest of the drink. When she finished, she looked back at Freya with lust in her eyes. "Want to get out of here?"
"Where?"
"Somewhere, but not here," she answered with a smirk.
Freya only replied with a similar smirk and before the woman knew it, her hand was being pulled by Freya's toward the exit of the bar to go somewhere else.

It’s a shame that vampirism is so incompatible with Islam because I know there’s great potential in a Muslim character who becomes a vampire and has to deal with that

Every now and then I think about that moment when Morbius yelled towards the heavens for whatever divine powers that be to strike him dead before lightning literally struck the earth in front of him (blowing up a corpse in the process) and he just left and never spoke of it

not surprising that theres racist interview with the vampire fans but complaining about the show “erasing” armands white slavic identity and using the war in ukraine as justification for why its bad that he’s not white is quite possibly the funniest way to be racist
