2. Who’s your favourite Mudokon?

I basically love all of the main soulstorm cast the equally - Abe, Alf and Toby, but for a different reasons.

Abe - because I've been knowing him for so long and I relate to his feeling of being lost and having no control over his own destiny, through theeese long years. Still relatable.

Alf - love his attitude and how open and extraverted he is, I feel like he is one of these types of people that you feel like you've been knowing them for 20 years but in actuality you just met them yesterday. (also, Bigface was always giving me off the same vibes as Soulstorm!Alf despite being a shaman... Which makes me think they have similiar extraverted personalities) 

Toby - because he is literally how I look in the eyes of other people and this is how I'm usually feeling about everything happening around me:

I shall say... Sligs. Love their design, their personality, you can be happy to make them explode in one case but feel bad for them next time, they can be threatening in one way and cute in the other, they can appear tough now but also look pathetic later.

IMO, they are the perfect type of a videogame enemy in my opinion, they are not dehumanized unlike any other videogame enemies, because in the end, they are the same hostages of the same situation, like mudokons, and having them being just a tad higher in the hierarchy in exchange of a short lifespan and horrible disfigurement is a questionable benefit. 

AND I HAVEN’T EVEN STARTED ON BABY SLIGS YET. It is illegal to make them that cute, oh my gosh, I wish we could see more of the sligs’ life cycle but I am sure it would be heartbreaking. (just like everything in Oddworld, haha, hold my glass).

30. How has Oddworld impacted/influenced you?

It made the punk I am right now. It told me very early in my life, that society sucks ass, and just you wait - you will be processed into a food, maybe not literally... Maybe EVEN literally. I see that what is happening right now is exactly what was happening in the oddworld games.

In fact, right now Oddworld helps me coping with this shitty reality, giving me hope and motivating me to fight through it no matter how dire the situation is and no matter how idiotic you’ll look in other people’s eyes, you have to step your foot down. It also made me immune to this horrid gaslight that everything is ok, no matter how many people telling me so.

Aside of this, I point at Oddworld as a reason for my immense love for dieselpunk and industrial aesthetics, and even dystopia as a genre in general.

Since Lorne directly compared Abe to Frodo from LotR in that most recent interview, I feel like theres an Oddworld Lord of the Rings AU just waiting to happen.

Question is, of course, if Abe is obviously Frodo, then who would the other Oddworld characters be? 🤔
