“What to Expect from God When Life Sends You the Unexpected” By Leslie Newman:
“Sometimes life sends you the unexpected. It’s an unexpected that you didn’t ask for and you don’t want. It came out of nowhere. Perhaps it’s a physical problem, illness, or the death of someone you loved very much. Perhaps it’s an issue between you and a friend. Maybe your child is making bad choices, or you have a spouse that has abandoned you. The list could go on and on, could it not? It just seems like too much, doesn’t it?
When these things happen, there’s often no real answers in sight to explain the whys and the what ifs. It can be so painful and agonizing. But one thing we do have is the truth. And the truth tells us that we have a God who is with us, who cares deeply and who walks alongside us in the most difficult of circumstances.
When you are walking that long and lonely road through the unexpected, here’s something you can rely on. God is always who He says He is.
These verses give us just a few glimpses into the character of God.
1. God is our shield: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11 KJV)
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2, NKJV)
2. God is our helper: “Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.” (Psalm 54:4 NKJV)
“So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6, NKJV)
3. God goes with us: “The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NASB)
“Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, HCSB)
4. God will provide: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19, NASB)
“His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” (2 Peter 1:3, HCSB)
Prayer: Dear Lord, sometimes it just feels like too much. Things are not what we expected, and we don’t understand. But You are a God who walks with us. We know we can rely on You to be who You say You are. And you’ve told us You will never forsake us or leave us. Thank you for loving us that much and help us to know it deep inside our hearts.”

For the LORD God is our sun and our shield.        He gives us grace and glory.        The LORD will withhold no good thing        from those who do what is right. — Psalm 84:11
Insight
God does not promise to give us everything we think is good, but he will not withhold what is permanently good. He will give us the means to walk along his paths, but we must do the walking.
Challenge
When we obey him, he will not hold anything back that will help us serve him.

Grace and Glory
Psalm 84: 11-12. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee. Many years ago, I learned to understand that God’s promise to withhold no good thing to those who walk uprightly did NOT mean He would give me anything I wanted. It means that if He is…

are otters or songbirds more jewish i have an argument to settle
Rating: Songbirds, but there's a makhloket
The majority opinion holds that songbirds are more Jewish than otters, as it is written, “Even the sparrow has found a home and the swallow a nest for herself in which to set her young near Your altar, O LORD of hosts, my Sovereign and my God” (Psalms 84:4). There are many other texts that mention songbirds throughout the Tanakh; there are zero results for “otter” as referring to the animal on Sefaria in our sacred texts.* Thus, the simple answer is that songbirds are more important in Judaism, and therefore more Jewish, than otters. Additionally, medieval Jewish illumination such as the famous Bird's Head Haggadah depicts Jews with human bodies and the heads and beaks of birds, indicating a close connection between Jews and birds:
Tumblr media
However, as is Jewish tradition, we preserve the following minority opinions as well:
Otters are more Jewish than songbirds: Songbirds were created on the fifth day of creation, while otters, like humans, were created on the sixth day. Therefore, otters are closer to humanity, and Jews are part of humanity, so otters are more Jewish than songbirds. (Genesis 1:20-24) Furthermore, this photo from the Cincinnati Zoo speaks for itself:
Tumblr media
Both otters and songbirds are equally Jewish: Psalms 50:10-11 reads “For Mine is every animal of the forest, the beasts on a thousand mountains I know every bird of the mountains, the creatures of the field are subject to Me.” Clearly, this covers both otters and songbirds, so both are equally Jewish. Furthermore, otters and songbirds both look extremely cute in yarmulkes, which may not be halakhically relevant but feels important to state nonetheless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neither otters nor songbirds are Jewish; however, they are righteous gentiles under the Noahide covenant: To be Jewish means to be bound by the Abrahamic covenant in relationship with the Holy One. As animals are neither descended from Jewish parents nor have the agency to choose to be bound by the covenant made between God and Abraham, as human converts do, neither otters nor songbirds are Jewish**. However, following the great flood, God said to Noah, “I now establish My covenant with you and your offspring to come, and with every living thing that is with you—birds, cattle, and every wild beast as well—all that have come out of the ark, every living thing on earth. (Genesis 9:9-10). This covenant, symbolized by the rainbow, is God’s commitment to every living thing (clearly including both songbirds and otters) that God will never flood the Earth again-- something every one of us can support.
Tumblr media
*(okay, there are three results: one is a typo for “utter” as in “our otter ruin” and the other two are German).
** My cat, however, is definitely Jewish.

‭Psalms 84:10-11
Better is one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.

Listen to Wisdom
1 My son, pay attention to what I say. Remember my commands. 2 Listen to wisdom, and do your best to understand. 3 Ask for good judgment. Cry out for understanding. 4 Look for wisdom like silver. Search for it like hidden treasure. 5 If you do this, you will understand what it means to respect the Lord, and you will come to know God.
6 The Lord is the source of wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from his mouth. 7 He gives good advice to honest people and shields those who do what is right. 8 He makes sure that people are treated fairly. He watches over his loyal followers.
9 If you listen to him, you will understand what is just and fair and how to do what is right. 10 You will gain wisdom, and knowledge will bring you joy.
11 Planning ahead will protect you, and understanding will guard you. 12 These will keep you from following the wrong path and will protect you from those who have evil plans. 13 Such people have left the straight path and now walk in darkness. 14 They enjoy doing evil and are happy with the confusion it brings. 15 Their ways are crooked; they lie and cheat.
16 Wisdom will save you from that other woman, another man’s wife, who tempts you with sweet words. 17 She married when she was young, but then she left her husband. She forgot the marriage vows she made before God. 18 Going into her house leads to death. She will lead you to the grave. 19 All who enter lose their life and never return.
20 Wisdom will help you follow the example of good people and stay on the right path. 21 Honest people will live in the land, and those who do right will remain there. 22 But the wicked will be forced to leave. Those who lie and cheat will be thrown out of the land. — Proverbs 2 | Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) The Holy Bible, Easy-to-Read Version Copyright © 2006 by Bible League International. I’m actually feeling happy that something good happened! Love my emotions aligning with my situation it can be rare. Glory to God. Y’all. God wants you to prosper this isn’t that go get the life you want it’s easy - sure it’s easy with God walking in His prosperous plan 4 u but be aligned with God. It’s good when good things align
But you have to promise me 1 thing: that you’ll believe
Matthew 9:29 Then Jesus put his hands over their eyes and said, “You will have what your faith expects!” Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.”

FEED MY SHEEP
"Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' And Jesus said to him, 'Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in Heaven. I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in Heaven.'" Matthew 16:16-19
As we begin to understand our authority in the realm of the earth -- we decree and proclaim the ascended life – living from Heaven and dwelling in the sense of His presence. It is by our agreement with the Lord through understanding and carrying out our calling in Christ that these things will begin to be revealed and established. "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising." Isaiah 60:1-3
We arise and shine because the Light of God has finally come to release God's plan to establish His Kingdom in the earth. Although great darkness may permeate the earth, the righteous in Christ will begin to reflect Heaven's illumination by moving from glory to glory in our Christ calling.
NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITHHOLD
Psalm 84:11  - "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk UPRIGHTLY. As we come to understand our Christ identity, and confess and meditate on God's promises to believers -- we will more appropriately apprehend His purpose for our life and the hunger and desire to bear fruit that remains for His Kingdom in the earth. This will create transference from His heart into ours. Then, our desire will be consistent with His purpose.
IT IS A GOOD THING
It is a good thing to possess the holiness of God and His purity since we are one with Christ. It is a good thing to be transformed by the renewing of our mind through declaring and meditating on God’s Word and seeing ourselves in God’s Word.
It is a good thing that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
It is a good thing to experience communion with God and our brethren. It is a good thing to stoke the vision to advance His Kingdom in the earth. It is a good thing to embrace the love of Christ flowing through our heart and streaming into the lives of others.
It is a good thing to live by the faith of the Son of God.
It is a good thing to disciple "BABY CHRISTIANS" to bring them to an understanding of their "Christ Identity" and "right standing" with God.
John 20:17 - "He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time....Jesus said to him. "Feed My sheep."
"We understand what love is when we realize that Christ gave His life for us. That means we must give our lives for other believers." -  1John 3:16
To walk UPRIGHTLY is to obediently follow the leading of the Spirit of God as we go throughout the day. . A righteous walk is determined by how much of the glory of God is being manifested in our union with Christ. Are we becoming the reflection of His image and God's representation on earth -- walking as one with Jesus -- even to equipping others by DISCIPLING those who are new in Christ?
