What if Pizza Tower WAS a 90's cartoon?

Because of Pizza Tower's whole "aesthetic" and such, it's so extremely fun for me to just imagine it as one of those old 90's cartoons. (Especially when seeing art from people creating fake screenshots, and blogs like @pizzatowerepisodes full of ideas of episodes this hypothetical Pizza Tower show could have had.)

In some other universe, I like to imagine it was a 90's show LMAO And just for fun,,, I have some ideas as to what it could have been like

1: It would have DEFINITELY been a Cartoon Network show. No doubt about it. It's hilarious to imagine some of the Pizza Tower cast in those old CN bumpers. Pizza Tower would have been one of those shows a bit too edgy to go somewhere like Nickelodeon, and I imagine it would sometimes have those "HOW DID THEY GET AWAY WITH THAT" moments lol. It would have been a really meta show too, lots of fourth wall breaks. Think of Chowder! Like the game too, it would have had pretty smooth hand-drawn animation. Maybe the show even got popular enough it got an incredible video game.

2: The story of the cartoon... I'm not entirely sure how it would go. But maybe... Pizza Tower stars Peppino Spaghetti, a struggling italian pizza chef running his restaurant while dealing with the shenanigans he and the other characters get into, maybe the Pizza Tower beside his restaurant moving in and that's how all the cast got here and started bothering him, until season 2 they finally get into the story where Pizzaface finally decides to blow up Peppino's restaurant and a whole season is mostly focused on episodes of Peppino in the tower trying to save his restaurant. (Do you think the song for the intro of this season would be Pizza Mayhem LMAO)

3: After the intro song, the "Pizza Tower" title appears with two of the infamous purple TV's next to it. One says "Created by (insert creator name here)" and the other one has Peppino in it, where he says something unique every episode! Sometimes, another character may appear there, but it's usually Peppino. Really rough basic sketch haha. I could see it with like a darkened purple brick background, maybe a slimy pizza on the ground.

4: At the end of every episode, before the credits, you get a minisode of NTV! Probably like 3 minutes of Noise's own show, being like "Who wants to watch a show about a pizza chef?? Watch MY show!" With some new topic every minisode. Maybe Noisette even takes over one episode! This is kind of like the thing they do after every Scaredy Squirrel episode if you've seen that.

5: This show DEFINITELY created some memes.

6: The season 2 in the tower is when Fake Peppino and Pizzahead would be introduced, Fake Pep becoming a new member of the cast and Pizzahead being the plot twist character after popping out of Pizzaface.

7: Whoever voices The Noise would be having way too much fun.

8: Two options for Snotty.

a) Always dies somehow but comes back the next episode

b) There's a whole episode dedicated to Peppino accidentally killing Snotty

......

With all the craziness of COVID-19, I've kind of developed somewhat of an addiction to ordering food on GrubHub. Mainly from Taco Bell because even though I work there, I love their food. Ironically, the tacos in this Chowder screenshot look like chalupas. How fitting.

I cannot express how much I greatly appreciate GrubHub drivers these days. That's why I always try to give them 20-30 % tips.

I gotta come clean to myself, I love Happy Days...... The only thing I love more than the show is Arthur Fonzerelli (AKA Fonzie). God I wish I was the Fonz. -Mario and luigi both love memes in very different ways. mario likes to put a positive twist on them and luigi just posts a lot of deepfried images with keymashing on it

-Mario’s Firebrand affects his entire body. When he’s embarassed or angry, he leaves behind scorched marks everywhere he walks

-Luigi’s thunder powers are very much based on his emotional and mental state. Also, he sneezes lightning.

Once in a while it’s really interesting to slide toward fanfic in a random different fandom and see what the most popular works/tropes are over there

For instance the differences between ‘hockey rpf’ and ‘check please’ tropes and stories are so massive — like hockey rpf has mostly tended toward most popular works being about yearning for forbidden love or finding out you share a secret with your bud or realizing just how good of buds you are or doing/being something-in-defiance-of-norms or even just idiot-does-all-the-above ... whereas the most popular check please fics I’ve felt have leaned more toward ...repurcussions of the above? Or succeeding in spite of or while doing or at the above? With really heavy doses of overlap with disability issues or mental health concerns, too.

And I just wonder is this a founder effect? Is this a ...symptom isn’t the right word... of the social media where each became popular? ((So far as I can tell, hockey rpf was almost self-quarantined back in the live journal and kink meme days of its most active points; it’s also the sort of thing that would spread amongst people with similar Tastes, not similar Interests (IMO) ..-/ check please started on tumblr and left once it gained enough popularity to be viable elsewhere - a venue where people are united mainly by having common Interests, regardless of taste, and by YELLING about how those could and should intersect

Hockey rpf I think has its roots in something like celebrity culture - parasocial relationships and whatnot ; check please canon is its canon, but I think it’s interesting on a personal level that I only like the fics where interpretations of main character are close to canon but minor side characters have been set free to roam and characterized wildly - the Kent Parsons and Chowders as explorations of relationship dynamics not seen in the comic.

I also tend to feel like fics that actually show the main comic couple tend to absolutely destroy one of their dreams - here is Jack, but he is AFAB trans and a double amputee and his backstory is still the same except for the horrific trauma of the two above changes intersecting to destroy all of his dreams ... but he’s exactly the same otherwise , so what made him different absolutely ruined his life but changed nothing about him as a person .. it’s this horrific intersection of burying your gays and ugh I don’t know where I’m going with this except !

Not as much anymore. I need to get back into it. I guess at the height, it was like... a lot. Like hours a day but then the real world came. It really depends if I hit flow. Then I can do hours again. But that’s been rare lately for whatever reason and I’ve decided putting pressure on it just makes it worse. So I’ve freed myself to step away and do other things if that’s what I want. Writing is just a hobby for now and so should be fun. 

DO YOU HAVE A ROUTINE FOR WRITING?

Hmm... no? I don’t outline or plan or anything like that. I usually just daydream it for a while (days to weeks depending on how long/complicated the story is) and then sit down and write it. Read it over once or twice for typos before posting. 

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE KINKS/TROPES/PAIRING?

Kinks - I don’t write E-stuff. For reading... i dunno. Slow-burn really. Is that a kink? I like when it’s well-written. I have a few strict Nos but other than that, if it’s well-written, I like it. 

Trope- I like a bit of angst with my fluff. So like hurt/comfort works for me? Really any of the tropes work if there is some angst. I don’t really enjoy just RAW fluff.

I had to stand in a downpour next to a giant fireball for 2 hours waiting for the cops to come.25 years old - moved to Wisconsin for a bit and while riding the bus to work, a man apparently disapproved of how I was sitting and punched me.Few months later a finch flew into our apartment building and I tried my best but it died in my hands.26 to 27 years old -  Moved back to new york; where my step mom died and her appearance at the wake still fucks me up.Than I began working at a bakery and worked with an unstable man who would black out; scream, throw and break equipment and threatened to hurt/ kill me and lock everyone inside the bakery and burn it.and finally 27 years old: on january 31st - my friend was driving me home before a bad snowstorm hit and we hit black ice and slammed into a tree. the airbag broke my hand; face and glasses and fucked up my ribs, left lung and have a damaged nerve in my neck. Read the labels for everything. Personally, as long as it doesnt actually contain wheat/wheat by products or gluten, I can have things with “MAY contain..” but everyone is different and more sensitive than others. just be careful and read everything. (soy sauce and corn pops are fucking traps because soy sauce is alot of the times made with soy AND WHEAT so check!!! and corn pops are shitheads because you think “oh! CORNpops! I must be able to have it! cause its CORN pops! FRIGGIN CORN-POPS! CORN!!” NO YOU CANT BECAUSE THOSE SNEAKY MUTHAFECKERS USE WHEAT AS LIKE THE 2ND INGREDIENT AND I AM REALLY SALTY ABOUT IT)

Everyone talks about how Jack is one of the only people in the Check Please universe with pupils. But I have yet to see someone entertain the idea that Bitty's eyes are ONLY pupils, no iris.

Check Please! is one of the only fandoms that I've been in where I can see some random post about about some crackheaded ship and go, "You know what? I can see that."

Like I just saw a post that proposed the idea Jack x Bitty x Chowder, and I was like, "Ok actually that would be really cute"

And the fandom is SUPER okay with throuples and poly relationships being thrown in the mix, even if it's just platonic!! Like Jack, Bitty, Lardo and Shitty being in separate romantic relationships but also being in a collective platonic relationship???? GOLDEN.

So thank Check Please fandom for literally creating every ship possible, and thank you Ngozi for making every character seem like they would date each other.

2017 Fics

1. And I Fell In Love Instantly (Chowder/Farmer, Check, Please!/Welcome to Night Vale fusion) I really enjoyed putting a Night Vale spin on Samwell and I thought Chowder was perfect in Cecil’s role. 

2. In the Cold Dark Night (Clint/Coulson, MCU) I didn’t start it in 2017, but I did finish it :) - and it’s actually the start of a bigger story, so there’s that. Werewolf Clint and vampire Phil, what’s not to love?

3. Harry Potter and the Zombie Apocalypse (Harry Potter). Neither started nor finished in 2017, but even during my numerous writing droughts last year, this is the one thing I kept working on. Drabbles are fun, especially when you’re trying to fit random prompts into an ongoing story.

4. A ‘Steamy’ Affair (Nursey/Dex, Check, Please!) I had a lot of fun playing with the format of this one, and it’s outsider POV, which I like to read but don’t often write. I’m thinking of doing more with this one.

5. Slapshot (Check, Please!) More zombies! I decided to continue a short fic I wrote in 2016 (something along the lines of my Harry Potter zombie fic), but it immediately became a lot more than a drabble per chapter, which is why I stalled out. I am definitely continuing this one.

who hogs the duvet

Both. It’s a major problem when they actually start sleeping in the same bed. They both have a habit of rolling over and pulling the blankets with them. In the beginning there’s a lot of half-hearted bickering about who needs it more. It ends in the realization that all their problems can be solved with cuddles.

who texts/rings to check how their day is goiing

Dex usually sends Nursey check-ins throughout the day. Nursey would probably do the same if he wasn’t so damn scatterbrained. 

who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts

They’re not a super gift-y couple. Like, they’re much more interested in acts of kindness and affection. Although, Nursey sometimes gives in and buys Dex something small like a hat or a bracelet, usually just on the fly with the excuse of “it reminded me of you, idk” and Dex sort of loves it.

who gets up first in the morning

Dex, for sure. I mean, they’re both pretty good at getting up for mornings at Faber, but Dex likes to keep his sleep schedule consistent and Nursey would much rather make up for lost sleep all in one night. Sometimes it takes some serious motivation to get him up (kisses).

who suggests new things in bed

So Nursey has hooked up with dudes before, the idea doesn’t really faze him. But Dex never had a boyfriend serious enough to take to bed, so at first they take things slow. But eventually it’s Dex who asks if they can try this or that. He’s curious, and if anyone is gonna go with his flow, it’s Nursey. He feels safe with him.

who cries at movies

I mean…… Derek. Nurse. Like, it’s art, ya know? and art gets him right here. Dex feels things, he reacts! it’s just not his thing to cry over movies. 

who gives unprompted massages

To Derek’s surprise, Dex is really good at shoulder massages?? Like, who knew?? His mom was really good at it, so he just eventually picked it up from her, and it is so nice when Dex just plops himself on the arm of the couch to get at Nursey’s shoulders. He’s basically an expert at calming Nursey’s nervous energy.

who fusses over the other when they’re sick

I think both of them do this to an extent. Like, Nursey will worry over Dex but at least Dex will take care of himself. Nursey will just refuse to admit he’s sick and Dex will tell him like “here, drink this water” “here’s some advil” “you need to eat” but he won’t force anything on him and usually Nursey ends up crashing and Dex is like “yeah, I would feel bad, but I told you this would happen so..”

who gets jealous easiest

Nursey!! Even tho drunk Nursey is a flirt and lots of people try to get in his pants, Dex knows Nursey would never do anything to hurt him. Nursey gets jealous when someone can talk to Dex about something he can’t, like mechanics or coding or fishing. Nursey knows he doesn’t quite measure up in the situation and he can get a little pouty. Dex likes to fix this with lots of making out.

who has the most embarrassing taste in music

They both have really different tastes in music; Dex loves the 90s, he loves grunge, he likes bands like Blink, (he also really likes 90s hip hop, which is a really excellent place for bonding between him and Nurse.) Nursey likes some stuff that’s excellent and some stuff that’s just like… what the fuck are you doing, dude? So… I guess Nursey in this case lol.

who collects something unusual

This isn’t exactly unusual, but Nursey collects notebooks. Total notebook hoe. Like, he has 20 that are perfectly untouched, and yet… this one has a holographic cover! this one is silver! this one has a watermelon on it! Dex was absolutely astounded when he first saw the stack (mountain) of notebooks in the corner of Nursey’s room.

who takes the longest to get ready

I hate to be obvious here but this is totally Nursey. Dex can be ready and out the door in like 20 mins, but Nursey takes like an hour. It’s not horrible or anything, he’s actually pretty damn fast for the amount of prep he does. But some days Nursey decides to wear make up or paint his nails and Dex nearly dies waiting for him.

who is the most tidy and organised

Dex 100%. Nursey has legit lost his wallet 5 times in the past two months. It’s no contest.

who gets most excited about the holidays

Dex! The holidays have always been a happy spot for him because he’s really close with his family. He’s really excited when he gets to take Nursey home for Christmas for the first time, he can’t wait to show him off to everyone.

who is the big spoon/little spoon

Dex is the big spoon!! I don’t know what the popular consensus is but I feel this in my heart! He loves the feeling of Nursey drowsing in his arms and Nursey loves the safe feeling of Dex holding him close.

who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports

Booottthhh. Like,,,,, have you seen them play hockey?? One of the first things that tips people off about them being a couple is that they become MASTERS at Taboo. Like, they’re practically reading each other’s minds. It’s impossible to beat them and at the end of the game they take a victory lap around the Haus.

who starts the most arguments

William Pointdexter…. loves arguing. Like, he doesn’t realize it, but he really loves arguing. He’s easy to rile up because he like’s being riled up. There are warning signs (not unlike a volcano) and if Nursey spots them he’ll just be like “Nope. Shutting this shit down right now.” and either leave or refuse to argue with Dex until he realizes that the argument is stupid. 

who suggests that they buy a pet

Nursey loves every animal he meets on sight. He’ll sit on the ground and they’ll come sit in his lap or rub up against him. Dex has never really had that gift, even though he’s had pets in the past. Neither of them suggest getting a pet as much as a kitten finds Dex one day and follows him everywhere and he can’t just leave him outside! Derek, it’s cold tonight and he’s only like 3 inches long! (Whatever, man, it’s chill) hell yeah, it’s chill! 

They name him something lame like Puck. 

what couple traditions they have

They have a boyfriend celly! If they’re close enough on the ice or they pull of something swasome together they’ll do it and let me tell you, it’s fucking adorable. 

what tv shows they watch together

So I have this headcanon that they usually watch sitcoms together but Nursey falls in love with sense8 and has Dex watch it. It takes some doing but Dex eventually becomes hella invested. He loves Nomi.

On the other hand, Dex is still bitter about Firefly. Even tho he didn’t watch it as it aired. He makes Nurse watch it one day and Nurse is surprised by how much he likes it. 

what other couple they hang out with

Chowder and Farmer all day long, bro. They study together a lot and she and Dex become really good friends!

how they spend time together as a couple

Dex tries to teach Nursey to bake… it goes okay. Not stellar, but not bad either. It’s super worth it to see Nurse get covered in flour and to get to steal kisses to his cheeks and neck.

who made the first move

This was Nursey, but it wasn’t a drunk thing or on an impulse. He stressed for like 3 weeks trying to think of the perfect words, knowing that Dex didn’t need anything complicated, he just needed the truth. 

Dex was pretty damn impulsive when he grabbed Nursey’s face and kissed him in the middle of the park.

who brings flowers home

One time, Nursey ordered a bunch of lollipops in the shape of lobsters off of some random site and arranged them into a bouquet for Dex. Dex didn’t talk to him for the rest of the day.

who is the best cook

Not Nursey, that’s for damn sure.
