As of approximately 05:15AM GMT; PMC Wagner has taken Rostov-on-Don and is engaging MoD forces in Voronezh; the former is the central HQ of Russian operations in Ukraine, effectively decapitating the Russian army in the region until command can be reestablished, and the latter is approximately halfway to Moscow from Wagner's starting positions.

Significant numbers of MoD forces have defected to Wagner, and there is some evidence Putin may have already fled the city.

We appear to be witnessing a military coup.

UKRAINIAN MISSILE SHOOTS DOWN RUSSIAN MILITARY TRANSPORT PLANE FILLED WITH ITS OWN POWs

74 are dead, including 65 Ukrainian POWs, after a Russian military transport plane being used to facilitate a prisoner exchange scheduled for Wednesday was downed somewhere over the Bolgorod region of the Russian Federation, near the border with Ukraine. The prisoner exchange has since been called off by Russian authorities.

In an article published by Ukrainian Pravda, a Ukrainian news periodical, a source is cited as saying that the aircraft was downed by Ukrainian forces near the border with Russia's Bolgorod region, however they have since retracted the source, and are now claiming they cannot confirm the news. The Russian authorities have since confirmed that the plane was in fact downed by a Ukrainian missile, likely using either an American Patriot air defense missile or a German-made Iris-T.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian authorities say that the crash took place at approximately 11:15am (local time), when a Russian Il-76 military transport plane filled with Ukrainian POWs was downed near the Bolgorod region.

“At about 11:00 Moscow time, an Il-76 plane crashed during a scheduled flight in the Belgorod region. On board there were 65 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, <including> six crew members and three accompanying persons,” the statement says.

In its statement, the Russian Defense Ministry slammed the missile strike, declaring the "Kiev regime committed a terrorist act" in downing the military transport.

According to Russian sources, the aircraft had been en route from the Chkalovsky military airbase in Moscow, and was shot down by air defenses stationed somewhere in the Kharkov oblast in the northeast of Ukraine, killing everyone on board.

The Russian and Ukrainian authorities had agreed to conduct a prisoner exchange later on Wednesday, with the exchange set to take place near the Russian village of Kolotilovka, also in the Bolgorod oblast, close to the border with Ukraine.

A second military transport aircraft carrying some 80 Ukrainian POWs was turned around before reaching the danger area, and was successfully diverted to another airbase after news of the downing reached Russian authorities.

The Ukrainian officials have so far refused to comment on the crash, remaining mum as news of the event spreads, although Andrey Yusov, a spokesperson for the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) confirmed a prisoner exchange had been scheduled for Wednesday, adding that the exchange has since been cancelled.

Once again, the weakness of the Western sanctions and the failure of the policy of isolation are absolutely clear. The west has lost allies,credibility, and an enormous amount of money in its failing anti Russian crusade. The Ukrainian suicide charge is giving no fruits, and Russia has even started its own counter offensive, re taking the no man land that Ukraine was previously able to capture at an enormous cost.

Russia formally expanding ambitions in Ukraine

The deputy chairman of the Security Council and former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, presented a “new” map of Eastern Europe, which showed parts of present-day Ukraine within other nations, according to Russian media.

Vinnytsia Oblast could become part of Romania, Uzhhorod could go to Hungary, Poland would get Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr, while the rest of the regions would join Russia, according to Medvedev’s map.

Transnistria, a part of Moldova that recently asked Russia for “protection”, would also be counted as part of Russia, the map suggested. According to Medvedev, Ukraine would retain only a small territory with its centre in Kyiv.

“Russia needs to follow its current path. The historical parts of the country [Ukraine] should return home.”

Rome (The Times Groupe)- Italian energy company Eni announced Friday that Gazprom will cut its gas supplies to Italy by 50%. france

Over the past few weeks, Moscow has cut off or reduced gas deliveries to several European Union countries, which have imposed sanctions on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.

France also has not received any Russian gas via Germany since May 15, according to French network operator GRTgaz.

Maintenance issues at the Nord Stream 1 pipeline from Russia to Germany were blamed by Russian officials.

Russia supplies around 40% of Italy’s imported gas, though it is trying to reduce this dependence. Through its network connections with Germany, France receives around 17% of its gas from Russia.

Gazprom’s gas deliveries to Italy were already reduced by 15% on Wednesday and 35% on Thursday this week.

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who was in Kyiv with German and French leaders, rejected Gazprom’s “technical reasons” as an explanation.

“Both Germany and us, and others, believe these are lies. In reality they are making a political use of gas like they are using grain for political use,” Draghi said at a news conference in Kyiv with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron.

This week, Gazprom cut deliveries to Germany by more than 60%. Russian state-owned company said delays in Siemens’ repair work were to blame for the reductions in supply via the undersea Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

However, Germany said Gazprom’s move was politically motivated.

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline is the main Russian gas pipeline to Europe after gas flows through Ukraine were reduced by the war.

Paul Gentiloni, the EU’s Economy Commissioner on Thursday, warned that the bloc’s economy could enter a recession if Russian gas supplies ceased, but said that so far there had been no signs of this.
