Invitation to talk about Sayuri and Nymie?

:D CAN OF WORMS: OPENED!! i'll tell u abt how they got found as Jedi

ok so Sayuri is one of the students that doesn't rlly go home bc there isn't much to go back to. Basically her parents were Rebellion pilots (or one was a pilot the other a mechanic. kinda unsure) but were both killed in action against the Empire abt 3-4ABY ish. obvs the Rebellion couldn't look after a 7-8yo while fighting the Empire

so the remainder of the squad manage to get her back to her parents' home village/ where she was born. so having like Everything change all at once leaves her pretty ?? and gives her some serious trusting-her-environment issues. her coolgirl "i dont care" persona is very much a result of this bc she's worried abt getting too comfy in smthn. (which is at odds w the OTHER issue she got from this event which is "deathly afraid of flying" an issue not helped if Master "traffic laws are just guidelines" Skywalker is piloting. but she tries 2 act like shes fine)

anyway fast forwarding to when Sayuri's abt 13 (roughly 9aby) she's visiting her parent's old squadron on a New Republic bc they'd all come visit whenever she could and after the Empire's fall they did a lot more pick her up and fly her to a base to ALL see her. and they're like omg Sayuri you came at the PERFECT time bc this rlly amazing pilot war hero who's also some like. mystical whatever is here!! he's on his way to some magic place we heard. maybe u can meet him!! which sayuri meets w her usual whatever bc she's not that gassed abt war heroes.

very worth noting that the squad's probably all seen her move shit with her mind, but theyre like oh you know how it is with teenage girls. the "nobody knows what a jedi is" + "the empire existed for a decent bit of her childhood" thing has kept anyone from being like yeahh sayuri should like. talk to someone abt this.

anyway she goes along when the squad are like c'mon let's see if we can see him. ok the only way i can describe this is you know the spiderverse like... spidey-sense recognition thing? that's basically what happens LOL Luke and Sayuri both have a FORCE USER RECOGNISED?? moment and Luke then makes a beeline for her then realises oh shit tiny teenager not jedi. would you LIKE to be a jedi?? and sayuri who hates her village and is feeling the strongest emotional connection she's felt in forever w this stranger she met 2 seconds ago is like okay fuckin sure yeah. and woo jedi!!

So Sayuri falls into the "one of the Jedi found them thru the force or by chance" category of students who get found. However Nymie very much falls into the second category, which is "CAN SOMEONE DEAL WITH THIS WEIRD SUPERPOWERED CHILD FOR US????"

So 2 things about Nymie: 1. like i've said before, she's from a very rich high class pantoran family. super stuck up, mostly raised by nannies & tutors, but somehow Nymie just didn't get the stuck-up genes like all her (4!!) siblings who are just obsessed w their social standing etc and is instead just :D all the time. 2. her proficiency ig is the living force esp in the 'good at connecting to animals' way (which I think means I legally need to draw her w Ezra).

so the former often led her to escaping her family's stuffy parties and galas or whatever (usually to whoever's house it is' garden or somewhere she wasnt meant to be) to find something interesting. usually a pet <3 one particular time when she was 9 she was following her Pet Sense but couldnt find anything in the house. so she kinda just reached out more and long story short thats how Nymie managed to call this hugemassive beast (i'd tell u what it was if i knew pantoran animals LOL) out of the nearby countryside to her. massively distressing for everyone, all these rich ppl were like "OH MY GOD I NEARLY DIED" (it didnt attack anyone). very funny exciting time for Nymie who was enjoying this new beastie friend til animal control showed up. saddening. everyone is confused bc HOW did that happen

a dude old (and cool) enough to have seen more than one jedi in their heyday (+ idk uni researcher knows his shit) noticed what happened w it going straight to Nymie and overheard her account and realised what happened and was like hi nymie's parents. i think u need to get into contact w the new republic bc thats a jedi right there (which they take and go oo social climbing. we have a jedi child people will think we're cooler. bc theyre assholes)

and yeah im losing steam now but luke shows up and she joins the academyyay!

Snake and Lizard

So a little Loki x Y/N (Strange’s wizard student). Cute and funny. 

I tried my best so Y/N can be a man or a woman, but it’s hard to put “them” next to a group of people, I hope it’s not too confusing at the end. 

           No, Y/N was not jealous. It was really a really good thing that Loki was talking to other people and trying to make friends. Even if they were childhood friends, long lost, and who had never bothered to ask about him. Nor that it was a powerful magician, blonde, tall, magnificent, a goddess, with her ridiculously long dress, that yet did not cover much.

From their first meeting, Loki and Y/N immediately hit it off, comparing their powers and having fun doing pranks together. Y/N was not in New York during the attack, and they thought everyone deserved a second chance anyway, so they had accepted Loki without asking questions, which had touched the God, since the rest of the Avengers, and of humanity, continued to distrust him.

No, Y/N wasn't jealous at all, while Loki only had eyes for this bitc... witch, smiling and laughing at almost everything she said. It didn't mean anything.

Maybe Thor hadn't helped. After Peter and Tony scoffed at Y/N a bit, saying they looked grumpy, the God of Thunder had wanted to be reassuring, saying that Loki was certainly not looking to replace his best friend... he had. just always fascinated by Sigyn, he'd probably even been in love when they were kids, but he would never give up on his little wizard.

           "Lizard." Peter reminded him.

           "Apprentice Lizard." Strange corrected as he walked past them.

           "I still haven't validated that code name. And I know Loki won't let me, I'm very happy he's having fun at this terribly long and boring night. We could have done a lot of pranks..."

           "Y/N." Stephen muttered, passing by a second time without looking at them.

           "... But my Master forbade me, so it's a very good thing he's busy, and not influencing me."

           "I'm pretty sure the time you colored my armor in pink, it was your idea."

           "Maybe, but he asked me for an idea."

It was certainly not of this Sigyn that Loki would ask such a thing. Oh no, she and Y/N were too different. Not in the same category. Y/N was the playmate, sort of siblings at best, with whom Loki could do whatever he wanted without worrying about being judged. This tall idiot was a princess. An object of desire. You had to please her, seduce her, bewitch her, and therefore behave like a polite and charming prince.

There had always been some tension between them. Something ambiguous, complicated. Sometimes when Loki put his hand on them, Y/N wanted more. A perfectly ridiculous desire. It was normal that the God of mischief did not care about a mortal, even if they practiced the mystical arts, and knew how to do good pranks. After seeing him with Sigyn, there was no more ambiguity, because there was no way to beat a goddess.

Being his friend was already a lot, and Y/N didn't want to lose that. Nothing was to change after that night, whether Loki wooed the witch or not.

However, unconsciously, Y/N put some distance between them, so as not to suffer too much, and of course, Loki noticed it. They no longer came to sit on him during the meetings, they no longer played with his hair, they did not put their head on his shoulder to rest.

But they continued to laugh and play together like kids.

So Loki didn't say anything. There had to be a good reason, and it would certainly be temporary.

Then Tony organized another party. More intimate, with only the Avengers, their relatives, and those who came to help without wanting to be associated with the superheroes.

When Strange, Wong, and Y/N arrived, they were quite surprised to see Sigyn, sitting next to Loki. The last time, their meeting had been fortuitous, all the Asgardians having been invited, but her presence today was wanted. Loki must have offered her to come.

The two Masters of the Mystic Arts quickly looked at the young student, Wong even patted their back gently, but without commenting.

At least this time Loki greeted them, but his attention quickly returned to the witch. And when Clint came up with a team game, Natasha found it amusing to put the two Gods in charge and so they had to choose their partners.

           "Uh... Bruce." Thor decided with a shy smile. "Strong and intelligent."

           "Pff. For that, I take the man of iron."

           "Alright, the young spider next."

           "Sigyn." Loki purred, turning to the goddess.

There was a little silence in the room. Everyone seemed both embarrassed by this overly romantic scene, but mostly shocked. Because Loki hadn't taken Y/N first. He always took Y/N with him when they had to make teams. Strange muttered something with a grimace, while Thor stared at his brother with a look that was hard to read.

           "It will be Y/N for me then."

           "A very good choice, dear brother." Loki hissed oddly.

The game was no fun, as both team leaders seemed to take it far too seriously. It wasn't all that surprising, with the two brothers often competing over who was the best, but this time there was something more. Bitterness. Y/N did nothing to calm Loki, unlike usual, only looking after their team. He had wanted Sigyn, it was up to her to take care of these things, if she was so wonderful.

The game ended in a draw, the only way to avoid a war, and Y/N moved away from the group to go talk to Peter in the kitchen. The young Spiderman loved asking them lots of questions about magic, and dreamed of being able to have fun with Y/N and Loki, but the others had forbidden him so, and the nickname he had found for the wizard had not pleaded in his favour. But tonight, that was not a problem.

           "Are you sure you're ok ?" Peter asked, visibly worried.

           "Hmm ?"

           "I just called you Lizard three times, and you haven't tried to change me into a spider. And you're not with Loki. You're always with Loki."

           "Right now I'm with you, be happy and shut up."

It wasn't just Spiderman who was surprised. Finally leaving the tall blonde alone, Loki walked up to them, having a drink without saying anything, staring at Peter insistently until the young man realized he had to leave the room, which he did quickly.

           "Darling..."

           "Don't. Don't call me that."

           "What ? Why ?"

           "Because I'm not. Your darling. I'myour friend, your pal, your partner in crimes, but that's it. Go back to your dear princess now, she's a darling."

           "... You are jealous ?"

           "No."

           "If Sigyn ?"

           "No."

           "I mean, I'm happy to know that my plan worked, but I was not expected this."

           "Your plan ? You wanted me to be jealous ?"

           "No, Thor."

It turned out that from the start, it was Thor who loved Sigyn a lot, ever since they were kids. He admired the sorceress from afar, without daring to approach her. Loki had noticed this, and since teasing and annoying his brother were his favourite pastimes, he had grown closer to the goddess, using his charm, knowledge of magic and his ability to lie. He really needed the last one to get to spend so much time with Sigyn, and not just so she wouldn't guess what game he was playing.

           "I have to pretend to find her interesting. It's so hard, because she's so... so... empty. Flat. Flavorless. Yes, she's beautiful and powerful, but she's a pretentious chick. A real princess. I hate it. I have to play the fool to please her. But when I see the look Thor makes after she laughs at one of my remarks, it's worth it."

           "Is that why you invited her tonight ?"

           “Thor invited her. He was hoping to spend some time with her. I couldn't resist, and when it was my turn to pick for the group, I took her, to show my brother that I knew very well that he wanted her. Oh, he should have chosen her first, but no, that clown was afraid to be too obvious."

           "... I see. I'm... sorry."

           "Don't be. You know, there's a reason why Thor picked you right after. He's not as dumb as I thought he was." he smiled before leaving.

Thor had long understood that Loki was laughing at him by taking Sigyn's full attention. He also understood that he liked Y/N a lot. A lot lot. In revenge, he had therefore taken them in his team.

In the living room, a new tension had set in. Upon learning that he was a Master of the Mystic Arts, and a Doctor, Sigyn had grown closer to Strange, much to the dismay of the God of Thunder, and this even though Stephen seemed very uncomfortable.

Loki watched them with a big smile from the sofa, sipping his drink, trying not to laugh. He stopped when Y/N sat on his lap.

           "Not. a. word."

           "Yes, my darling." he whispered, putting a hand on their waist.

From a corner of the room, the other Avengers were unsure whether they should be reassured that they were reconciled, or if they should be afraid that the Snake and the Lizard were together again.

           "Why does their mating rituals have to be playing pranks on as many people as possible ?" Stark sighed.

           "They're cute together though." Steve said.

           "They are idiots." smiled Bruce.

           "Dangerous idiots. Why don't they just fuc… Who put salt in my glass ?!"

For once again using the mystical art for something futile, Strange forced Y/N to clean the entire temple, and forbade them to see Loki for a week. Although this punishment was more for the God of Mischief, because Stephen had great difficulty getting rid of Sigyn, who was really annoying, and now Thor was quite hostile towards him out of jealousy, creating rain as soon as the wizard was going outside.

LIFELINES AND LEGACIES - A D&D inspired TS4 Legacy Challenge

Even though I’m not active, I wanted to start another legacy challenge, but I didn’t want to do a normal one. Since my friends and I play D&D and love it, why not take inspiration from there? And so here is the culmination of that little brainstorm! It’s my first time making a challenge like this, so hopefully it won’t be that bad. :D It’s a legacy challenge based on the Dungeons and Dragons classes!

If you want to try this challenge out, please use the tags #L&L challenge or #ts4 L&L ! I’d really appreciate it if anyone tries this out just for fun! 

Bit of a warning, this challenge gets a bit chaotic in the middle because...honestly, I dunno,,,,

Rules and requirements under the cut!!

Pack Requirements: All the EPs and GPs except for Star Wars (ew), but you can always skip some requirements if you don’t have the packs for them

You can choose to do this on normal lifespan, but playing on long is allowed too.

So, how do you want to do this?

GENERATION 1: Fighter

You don’t have much right now, but you’re determined to build yourself from the ground up and start a family. You have a strong will to fight when needed and you’re quite athletic. You don’t have to be completely alone at the start of this journey, however, and a long time best friend of yours can be part of your party.

RULES:

Must have Active trait

Fight/”Friendly Spar” with at least 3 different sims and 1 occult sim

Complete Successful Lineage aspiration

Starting funds must be less than 20,000 simoleons after buying a house

Get a job in either the Fitness career or the Military career

OPTIONAL: Can have another sim in the household when starting out, and must be friends with them. They can be your family, childhood friend,existing lover, or just some random roommate. (Also yes, you’re allowed to romance them. Unless if they’re your family, yikes)

GENERATION 2: Druid

Your family may not have had the best financial state starting out, but you don’t let things like money phase you. You’ve always loved nature and going out, and dreamed of wanting to do more for the environment as an adult. You like to take things a bit slowly, and love to lounge around. 

RULES:

Must have Vegetarian, Lazy, and Loves Outdoors traits

Lot must be off-the-grid

Have a green eco footprint

Marry in adulthood instead of young adulthood

Meet and become friends with the hermit in Granite Falls

Max out the Gardening skill and grow your own food

Optional: You must only have one lover and you must woo them with bees

GENERATION 3: Artificer

You’re dissatisfied at how your family lounges around most of the time, and you’re quite the workaholic compared to them. Your career is your life, and you happen to be both ambitious and gifted. Though you love your child but you have absolutely no idea how to be a parent. So you might end up being a bit of a helicopter parent… 

RULES:

Must have Ambitious and Genius traits

Graduate college on a scholarship

Get a job in the Scientist career

Have at least level 6 Robotics skill

Have only one child, born from a one night stand/fling

Never get married

Only do strict parenting interactions with your child

OPTIONAL: Complete the element collection

GENERATION 4: Wizard

You grew up in a house with high expectations, and always wanted to please your family. You worked hard in your studies and in the end- it paid off. But at the cost of you not having much of a social life. However, that really isn’t your priority. Instead, you chose to start learning the magic arts, enthralled by its mystic ways. You were always good at school, so why not start getting good at magic now? As long as you put your mind to it, it shouldn’t be that hard...right? 

RULES:

Must have Perfectionist and Loner traits

Have less than 5 friends

Must finish Whiz Kid child aspiration

Become an “A” student in both grade school and high school

Must have “Responsible” trait when you reach Young Adulthood (via high responsibility value)

Graduate college with a distinguished degree

Become a spellcaster

OPTIONAL: Take the teaching or doctor career

GENERATION 5: Sorcerer

You were born with a magical bloodline, and you love to show it off. You want the whole world to see that you’re a cool prodigal spellcaster. You’re the complete opposite of your parent; loud, outgoing, quick to make friends. You’ve even developed a knack for acting in order to impress people, and you dream of becoming a famous star in order to show those who wronged you before that you’re the best thing on earth. 

RULES:

Must have Self-Absorbed and Erratic trait

Must have weak bloodline trait from parent and become a spellcaster

Reach the Adept, Master, or Virtuoso rank 

Become at least a B-Lister

Get to level 7 of the Actor career

Have some sort of rival

Must have “Good Manners” trait when reaching Young Adulthood (via high manners value)

Must have good reputation

Optional: Be the leader of a popular club and have the Insider trait

GENERATION 6: Bard

You’ve got it all. Rich and famous family, a magical bloodline, musical skill, lots of friends...but something inside you just feels...missing. Thanks to this, you started going around looking for lovers, carelessly tossing aside those who happened to not meet your indecisive standards. It would probably take you years before you calm down and settle with someone you truly care about, but all the heartbreak you’ve caused before that is quite impressive, to say the least. 

RULES:

Must have Romantic, Music Lover and Non-Committal traits

This sim has to be the hottest generation. Go all out yo!!!!

Must have strong bloodline trait but cannot be a spellcaster

Complete the Serial Romantic Aspiration

Work in the Entertainer career as a musician

Have as many affairs as you want and have illegitimate kids BUT…

Your heir must be the result of an affair with an occult sim that isn’t a spellcaster. See rules for next generation below

OPTIONAL: Only get married in late adulthood or elder life stage. You can’t have kids with this person.

GENERATION 7: Warlock

You never really had a close relationship with your “famous” parent, and spent more time with your occult family, making you pretty close with each other. Your half siblings don’t like you because you inherited a part of your famous parent’s fortune, despite being...you know...a paranormal freak? To get around this, you developed quite a skillful tongue, and you know your way around words. Now you’re looking for someone to get some more money from... 

RULES:

Must have bloodline trait AND be part of an occult race that isn't a spellcaster. Like, you could be a mermaid, vampire, or alien with the bloodline trait, or even a half alien or half vampire.

Have a high relationship with your occult parent

Reach level 10 charisma skill and get yourself a sugar daddy/mommy. :D

Now, your path for this generation will differ depending on whether your parent is an alien, vampire, or mermaid, and is based on some of the D&D warlock patrons. However, this divergence is completely optional. and you can just focus on finding a sugar daddy/mommy only

ALIEN PARENT (Great Old One patron) You can be either a full alien or half alien for this one.

Get a job in the Astronaut career and visit Sixam

Max out your Logic skill

If you’re a full alien, memory wipe at least one person who you had a high relationship with if they find out you’re an alien.

Must have Insensitive trait when you reach Young Adulthood (comes from having low empathy)

VAMPIRE PARENT (Undying patron) You can be either a full vampire or half-vampire for this one.

Max out your vampire lore skill

Own a cowplant for as long as possible

If full vampire, turn at least one person into a vampire

Become friends with the Grim Reaper, by any means necessary :)

MERMAID PARENT (Kraken/Lurker in the Deep patron) (UA) You can only be a full mermaid for this one.

Max out your fishing skill

Try to have one child with Sulani Mana trait

Collect 5 rare fishes

Die from polar bear plunge (jumping into a pool outside when it’s freezing cold)

GENERATION 8: Cleric

The generation before was…chaotic, to say the least. You may have occult blood in you but you’re gonna try to set things straight for future generations. How are you gonna do that? BY GETTING RICH, OF COURSE! SPREAD THE WORD OF CAPITALISM AROUND BY STARTING YOUR OWN RETAIL STORE! Or a restaurant, that works too. The most prominent thing that you’ve inherited from your parents is your love of money, and you’re constantly coming up with schemes to get more. Gods may not exist in The Sims, but you might as well worship something that’s powerful. And money is power.

RULES: 

Must have Materialistic trait

Have a job in the Business career, Politics career, or Civil Designer career (Civic Planner) and bop bop bop, bop to the top

Own at least one retail store/restaurant with a rating of at least three stars

Complete the Fabulously Wealthy Aspiration

Eventually move to a penthouse OR one of the big apartments in the business district in San Myshuno

Have only one child

Fall in love with someone from work, then divorce them after having a fight

GENERATION 9: Paladin

Despite the unique circumstances that happened before your birth, you grew up...pretty normal. There’s not much to say about you since your magical bloodline and occult genes are probably dwindling from here, and sooner or later your family legacy will go back to being humans. You’ve always wanted to protect this world and be the one to bring justice to it, so you take up a job in the police force. You and your lover unfortunately had a kid, and even though your lover may have wanted it deep down you actually hate kids. You’ve heard about strange events going on in a town called Strangerville, and you’ve been itching to investigate… 

RULES:

Must be close with Generation 8 sim

Must have Hates Children trait

Have a job in the Police career

Complete the Strangerville Aspiration and become the Hero of Strangerville

Have the “Mediator” trait when reaching Young Adulthood (from high conflict resolution)

Stay in the penthouse/apartment your parent got

OPTIONAL: Complete the “Rambunctious Scamp” child aspiration and get “Physically Gifted” trait

GENERATION 10: Rogue

Ironically, despite your upbringing, you ended up becoming a deviant that has constant run-ins with the law. Your relationship with your family isn’t great, but you’re determined to make a name for yourself as a slippery troublemaker. Your true dream however, is to find your one true lover, since you’re a secret hopeless romantic. Your flirting skills are laughable though, and you tense up whenever you have to do something romantic. How are you gonna find love like this? 

RULES:

Have bad relationship with Generation 9 sim

Must have Kleptomaniac, Gloomy, and Unflirty traits

Reach the top of the criminal career

Complete both the Soulmate aspiration

Whenever you visit another sim’s lot, steal something from their house

Have up to two exes before finally settling on the one you wanna marry

Get friendzoned at least once

Move out of your parents’ penthouse/apartment and into a small 20x15 lot

OPTIONAL: Have negative reputation

OPTIONAL: Be BFFs with your other parent

You can end the challenge here, but there are still some more D&D classes left to do, so here they are, the optional generations!

GENERATION 11: Barbarian

You take after your parent a lot, and you’re skilled in making people absolutely hate you. Your emotions are just as stable as Philippine wifi, and you have this terrible habit of getting into fights a lot. But just because people don’t like you doesn’t mean you can’t go out and have fun. In fact, you’re quite infamous for going out to parties and starting bar fights. 

RULES:

Must have Hot-headed and Mean traits

Must have “Uncontrolled Emotions” trait when aging up into Young Adulthood (from low emotional control)

Fight as many people as possible, make lots of enemies

Throw a lot of parties and go to lots of bar nights and events

Complete Public Enemy aspiration

OPTIONAL: Die from cardiac arrest

GENERATION 12: Monk

For someone with a public nuisance for a parent, you’re pretty chill. You love to make stuff, and your way of life is quite tranquil, to say the least. You’re handy and artistic, and love to do things yourself, even if it does give off the impression that you’re super cheap. You’ve always got a gift for someone during christmas, and your inventory is full of stuff that you’ve made, or components to make stuff with. The world is cool with you, and you’re cool with the world. You’re not the type of person who could hold down a regular job though...

RULES:

Max out the Wellness skill

Must have Maker trait

Be at least level 4 in the all following skills: Handiness, Fabrication, Painting, Writing, Flower Arranging, and any instrument skill. (Also Knitting, if you have it)

Always change jobs when you reach level 4 in them, and your only truly stable source of income is from selling the stuff you’ve made

Live on an off-the-grid lot, preferably somewhere near the water or near a forest

Have twins for kids and only those twins (you can cheat to get this ahhaha)

Elope only, cause weddings aint your style

Explore Selvadorada with your family at least once

GENERATION 13: Ranger

After you and your family went on a vacation to Selvadorada, you decided that you’d travel the world, no matter what! Your twin sibling was originally gonna help you complete this dream, but unfortunately they died due to mysterious circumstances. While you mourned away your sorrows, you came across a stray animal that reminded you of your late sibling and decided to take it in. Once you got yourself together out of your slump, you decided to pack your bags and start travelling around the world for realsies.

RULES: 

Be BFFs with your twin

Twin sibling must die during their teenage/early young adult years

Adopt at least one pet after that (yeah, you can have more)

Complete Friend of the Animals aspiration

Visit all the vacation worlds at least once in your lifetime

Discover all the secret lots except Sixam

Visit at least one lot in each normal world with your pet

Move household at least once

Don’t have children

Commentary:

Art by u/Sha-Yurigami, who also did a splendid job on the lettering. Managed to cram in what I thought was an unwieldy script into just four panels!

I've been sitting on this comic idea for a long time due to a lack of assets in my sprite comic catalogue.

Now it's Svin's turn at bat to summon a Rider during the 5th HGW AU where Waver manages to get a slot, and wouldn't you know it, his Beast Magecraft causes him to link up with a fellow wolf-related fellow in the form of Romulus. As Flat points out, he was just off by a couple of degrees.

For the first cour, Svin is a dangerous opponent for the other Masters in a 1-on-1 sense as he has very powerful magecraft suited for combat, he's got a squad that's looking out for him, and he is absolutely desperate to regain the respect of both his professor and his crush after "screwing up" in front of them. He's in a very big "I'm going to make amends even if it kills YOU" mode that instills within him a reckless breed of bravery but also makes him more prone to making genuine mistakes. For instance, Medea inverses his Beast Magecraft in some routes with a little Circe know-how, briefly turning him into a pig that Flat has to protect until she's defeated.

Waver seems aloof, and even a bit resentful of Svin through all this, but in reality he's doing his best to reign in his disappointment as he believes that this HGW could be as just as good a life (or death) experience as it was for him.

Understandably, Gray has her own problems what with who the Saber during this HGW is, but there's an added comedic/dramatic element given that she's fighting alongside Rider Romulus.

When Artoria tries to rebuke Add/Kay for this given Britain's feuds with the Caesars, Add/Kay shoots back that it's nothing personal, and besides, while he was doing recon, he saw Artoria eat Shirou's meatball spaghetti. And that's as Roman as it gets. And for the entirety of his incarnation into Gray's Mystic Code, Add/Kay has never allowed a single "boot noodle" or cuisine of equivalent nature pass through his jaws.

As for their Master-Servant relationship, Rider Romulus does his usual ROMA ministrations to the bafflement of everyone except Flat ("ROMA!"), but he does his best to help Svin accomplish his goals while attempting to connect with and mentor him on a personal level. This range from cathartic such as discussions on their bestial proclivities, to the farcical where he tries to help Svin woo Gray in a matter befitting an irresistible Roman gentleman ("Talk of fine art and economic initiatives will convince the object of your desire that you are beyond mere carnal concerns!").

Ultimately, Romulus wishes to inspire Svin to warmth and action, as he senses within him the potential to become a great leader of men. He also tries to encourage Svin to recognize and care for Flat as a brother, citing that fraternity is a fine yet fragile thing, pointing out that as inhuman as Flat and his mindset are, he always does his best to look out for Svin. Like during the pig thing if it happens.

In battle, Romulus shamelessly exploits Imperial Privilege and Natural Body to pull out whatever Skills he needs and quickly recovering his health after each skirmish. It allows him to fight on a level approaching his martial performance as a Lancer, but his spear's NP is weaker due to his Rider container.

There are limits to this though, as his attempt to go blow for blow with his antecessor Heracles using Monstrous Strength goes rather poorly.

Rider Romulus refuses to summon his mount even when ordered, and prefers to use his Riding Skill on pedestrian vehicles to turn them into pseudo-chariots. This is because his true NP as a Rider is his surrogate mother, the wolf who raised him and Remus when they were infants, and he hates seeing her get hurt. When called upon, she's a huge phantasmal wolf of great speed and power capable of performing a wide range of devastating attacks. However, savagery and wrath never so much as touch her countenance.

Depending on certain choices, Romulus mind may go berserk due to poor management of his war god blood or through an outside mental attack, and Svin and pals will have to contend with navigating and neutralizing his decapitation Moles Necessrie fortress Noble Phantasm.

A brief gag with Romulus that occurs at a strategy meeting with Waver's group is that a strange, blue-haired, vaguely familiar man seems to be sitting in as well. It turns out to be Romulus, who looks like his Quirinus self whenever he is without his crown or any other form of headgear, but the demigod himself seems oblivious to this. Svin tests this out by putting Romulus' crown on and off of him again and again, seeing the shift happen, and then angrily telling Rome's great progenitor not to mess with him if this is some kind of Flat-inspired prank!

yes i spontaneously wrote a bamon drabble because i can never get their dialogue out of my head (:

Damon knew Bonnie.

In fact, he knew her so well that he could paint her with ease on an intimidatingly large canvas, blindfolded, holding the paintbrush behind his back.

They spent an aggressive amount of time together, plus he was a vampire so his Bonnie experience was intense- not one detail went amiss.

Like for instance, she liked her natural nails to have length, and never chose nail polish outside of flesh tones; her go-to was a sandy nude but it had to be just translucent enough to reveal a bit of her cuticle.

And the fact that she wasn’t a perfume girl, but more of an earthy oil type. If he could bottle her up in a fragrance it’d be a concoction of patchouli and vanilla, a hint of citrus zest and a bit of a floral scent because whenever she couldn’t sleep at night, she’d sprinkle lavender oil on her pillow which eventually would embed itself in her hair.

Oh, and when he fixed her breakfast she never failed to complain about his pancakes but she would always do an exciting finger wiggle before grabbing a fork and digging in.

The prison world did something to her. To them. He had ample amount of time to observe and truly see the little witch for who she was, an opportunity never granted to him before. In the strange case of forced matrimony, Damon was able to fully see Bonnie Bennet sans overbearing, attention-seeking friends, even if one was his beloved girlfriend.

There was always Elena and after that, Elena’s shadow, and after that, Vampire Barbie but in the prison world there were none and he saw elements of himself attach to Bon Bon like friction particles during traction. And even stranger, Bonnie was completely unaware, behaving in a very Damon-like manner as if she had always done so, like she had coined the phrases, prolonged the banter, carried the stichomythia all along. Like he himself was the imposter.

Seriously, all Bonnie needed was a black leather jacket and a Camaro and she’d be his own personal mini me.

And even when his hope of returning floated away like a stray balloon, forever with her didn’t seem that bad.

To say the silent truth didn’t make Damon’s heart warm would be a lie. Developing a strong eventual friendship with someone who wanted you dead years prior could heat even the iciest of hearts.

So he had positively known her. He had seen her face, day in and day out for months on end; clay brown skin, leaf green eyes, a smirking mouth (another habit she picked up from him, he noticed proudly,) with a bone structure a model would envy, Damon hadn’t thought of any other equation that personified Bonnie Shelia Bennett.

She was very pretty in a way that snuck up on him over the years, he became accustomed to her beauty because he could accept it, it was manageable and tame. Not a loud or demanding beautiful but a sacred and layered one.

Bonnie was basically sugar, spice, everything nice, with chemical x as her magical witchy woo woo.

But who knew something as simple as a new hairstyle could change someone so drastically.

“So what do you think?” She asked, brimming with a poorly contained excitement.

It was a quiet day in Mystic Falls, no monsters to fight, or talisman to acquire. She had just entered the boarding house as Damon grabbed a Bourbon from the kitchen, tumbler held by a lazy grip. His eyelids lowered.

Gone was the modest brown bob, the one that allowed her to be pretty but not intimidatingly so. The hairstyle that he had expected from her; the witch’s default to not draw too many eyes for fear of being unnecessarily seen.

Gone was the beauty that was also his because she shared it with him like a secret gift. Only Damon Salvatore could witness the depth since he was always too close, always too invasive and she had trusted him just enough to let her guard down. It was theirs but now it was hers.

In the place of the brown bob was silken chocolate roots blended into caramel-colored barrel curls that tumbled down her frame. Her face was more intense, skin browner, eyes moodier, lips no longer smirking but pouting instead. She looked more mature and not like the sweetheart that he had come to adore but more like a bombshell, a sex symbol- hot...

It was odd.

He was captivated by her face, how different she looked, an effortlessly sexy appeal that was so un-Bonnie-like that he probably would’ve hit on her if she wasn’t his best friend.

Damon was drinking in her appearance with veiled appreciation but she couldn’t know that. He contorted his brows in thought and brought a cocked hand up to his chin quizzically.

“Hmm...” he said walking closer and examining, if only to buy him more time to stare at her, study her, secretly admire her.

She narrowed her eyes, crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head in annoyance.

“Damon it doesn’t take this long, you either like it or you don’t.” That excitement had digressed to something else as she ran her fingers through her long hair self-consciously.

He stepped up to her, invading her space as he normally did, and pinched a few strands of hair between his thumb and forefinger.

“You’re right Bonnie, I don’t like it.” He said cavalierly, just to get a reaction out of her, just to make her feel a little less gorgeous because it was making him uncomfortable.

She stuck out her chin, arms still folded, “It’s not like I did it for you.”

The statement hung in the air like she had options, almost as if meek Bonnie Bennett had men standing in lines to take her out. Like her excitement to show him her new look only moments before didn’t exist because his opinion was no more important than the dust particles in the air.

“It’s okay if you don’t like it.” She stated, mouth certainly pouting now. He could see her defenses activating. “You’re entitled to your own opinion. This new look has nothing to do with you and everything to do with me and what I want. I think it’s-“

He rolled his eyes. “Save the women-empowerment speech for someone who actually cares, Bon Bon. I love it.”

“What?”

“Your new hairstyle. I don’t like it, I love it.” He over-enunciated.

That bubbling excitement returned, “You do?”

“Yeah. You’re blonde now,” he smirked and stepped even closer if that was possible. He circled her, eyes sliding up and down his Bon Bon to reassert that only he could be the sexy one in their duo, not her. No one else could master sexy the way Damon had. It leaked from him, she couldn’t compete with him for such a title. But Bonnie was barely bothered. Impulsively, her eyes rolled as he continued to walk around her as if he were critiquing an art display. He stopped in front of her.

“Little Miss Blondie Bennett.”

“How original.”

“I know, I put a lot into that nickname.” His hand was in her tresses before he could even register what he was doing, fingertips at her scalp, gliding to the tips of her hair with a light pressure. He released, then swept up the wisps of hair on the nape of her neck and tugged gently. Loose curls fell around his grasp.

“Didn’t your mother teach you not to touch a lady’s hair?” Her eyes were foggy when she gave him a weak glare and gooseflesh rose on her skin.

“Do I look like I listened to my mother?”

He still had her hair in his grip and he tightened it a bit for emphasis before dropping his hand abruptly.

There was something that stretched between them, like maybe it was cruel to have a stunning little witch and an eerily handsome vampire only be friends. Like maybe Damon should keep his hands to himself because other thoughts could arise like why hadn’t he noticed Bonnie like this before? Out of all the women he’s crossed paths with, why was it impossible to imagine the witch as a sexual being? Why did she seem above carnality? And Bonnie could think why she hadn’t allowed herself to be noticed, what made her decide to hide herself, to keep walls so high that it would take years to cave in? She could ask herself what it was that made her a supporting character of her own life; who would she be if she allowed one misstep, had made one wrong move? Would Bonnie Bennett still be Bonnie Bennett if she put herself first?

Blonde hair was a baby step.

The presence of Elena was there and not, omnipotent as the sun between the world of Bonnie and Damon because there was no way they could see each other in any other light outside of friendship. And Damon was seriously questioning why he couldn’t possibly fathom, could hardly bring himself to whisper the phrase, sex with Bonnie.

Bonnie was his first best friend ever. In his multitude of years, he hadn’t blurred that line like he did with the long list of women he met before. He could think of not one platonic friendship in his history of friendships that was with a woman. She really was his first. It was like there was a block in his mind that prevented him from seeing her that way.

It was... strange.

The silence was stretching, as thoughts blossomed between them about themselves and one another. But of course the duration wasn’t too long.

“You went to a salon?” Damon asked, attempting to rid the moment of that gentle intimacy as he held her eyes.

“Yeah, it was this guy from Atlanta. He said a caramel, slightly ash blonde color makes the green in my eyes more intense.” She paused. “Caroline’s gonna flip,”

“Yeah she’s not the only blonde in town now.” His eyes widened. “You’ll probably have to mud wrestle to fight for the official title.”

“How classy of you, Demon. I mean Damon. I think.”

“Ha, ha.”

He could feel himself staring at her in a weird, pensive way, despite his lighthearted banter. She looked like the exact opposite of him bottled up in a human being. She was stunning.

“I’m guessing you didn’t listen to your mother when she said it’s impolite to stare either.” Bonnie chimed smugly.

Damon didn't laugh, his eyes grew sincere as he held eye contact with her in a way that used to make her feel uncomfortable before she became accustomed to it.

“All jokes aside, you are beautiful, Bonnie Bennett."

Those words had never fallen from his lips before. Especially never with such a seriousness. It was a fragile phrase, profound and evocative because she couldn’t recall the last time someone told her that.

Her face grew rosy with flattery and maybe embarrassment. “Thank you, Damon.”

She could see how Elena could have fallen for Damon, regardless of Stefan Salvatore and his handsome, chivalrous nature. Everyone warned you against men like Damon because they could get anything they wanted out of you and the world. A wolf in wolf’s clothing. Somehow frightening and irresistible at the same time. He was the shiny apple, red as sin in the garden of eden, plump and juicy and ready to be eaten. It was only natural for Elena to succumb. Most women would if the apple was dangling so dangerously low to their lips.

But sometimes, like then, he wasn’t so predictable. He took you by surprise when you least expected it. Because he wasn’t just enigmatic, he was flesh, bone, almost human. He had feelings and reactions and even he could be taken aback by his best friend with blonde hair. And even he could appreciate a beauty that wasn’t just Elena’s without feeling guilty.

“Little Blondie Bennett. I could just eat you right up.”

He really could.

Fain would I sing, 0 Mother blest!

the reasons why I love thee;

Why e’en to name thy name, with joy, O Mary! fills my heart;

And why the glorious thoughts of thee, in greatness far above me,

Inspire no fear within my soul, so dear and sweet thou art.

Yet, if I were to see thee now, in majesty stupendous,

Surpassing all the crowned saints in highest heaven above,

Scarce could I dream I am thy child, (O truth sublime, tremendous!

For I should think myself to be unworthy of thy love.

The mother, who desires to be her child’s best earthly treasure,

Must ever share its grief with it, must understand its pain.

Queen of my heart! how many years, thy sorrows had no measure;

And glorify my Jesus, Who alone can make me whole.

Thy burning words of love divine are mystic flowers victorious,

When good St. Joseph did not know the great arch­angel’s story,

I love thee when I see thee next, like other Hebrew women,

To Israel’s temple turn thy steps when dawned the fortieth day;

I love thee yielding humbly up, to aged, favored Simeon,

The Lord Who should redeem us all when years had fled away.

And first my happy smiles awake, to hear his glorious singing,

That “Nunc Dimittis” that shall ring till Time itself shall die;

But soon those joyous notes are changed, and my hot tears are springing;

“A sword of grief must be thy lot,” thus runs his prophecy.

O Queen of all the martyrs host! till thy life here is ended,

That sharp, sharp sword shall pierce thy heart! At once, it pierces sore.

That thy dear Child from Herod’s wrath may surely be defended,

I see thee as an exile fled to Egypt’s pagan shore.

Beneath thy veil thy Jesus slept, thy peace no fears were daunting,

And then at once I see thee rise, as called by angels chanting,

Content, without a questioning word, in foreign lands to roam.

In Egypt and in poverty, I think I see thee, Mary,

All glad at heart, all radiant, with joy beyond com­pare.

What matters exile unto thee? Thy true home can­not vary.

Hast thou not Jesus, with thee still? and with Him Heaven is there.

But, oh! in fair Jerusalem, a sorrow, vast, unbounded,

OC ask game? AWESOME! Nr 1, 7, 8 and 17 for Beauty! I love her :)

Thank you so very much for asking about Beauty! I love her too (just as I love all my OFCs)—and there is so much of her backstory that I’ve written but haven’t been able to incorporate into her ongoing story…yet.

1. List five basic facts about your OC.

Yes- her real given name is Beauty. Four brothers preceded her, so that when her mother was expecting, both of her parents were praying for a long elusive girl. When she arrived and her sex revealed, Dad couldn’t help but shout out the first time he saw her, “Ahhh- she’s a real beauty!” – so that the name simply stuck. Her full name is Beauty Sarah Lincoln. In college, and in her professional life, she prefers to go by B. Sarah Lincoln. It saves a lot of odd looks and needing to give an explanation.

Beauty is bright, inquisitive, kind-hearted, and has an impish sense of humor. A life-long lover of books, she was always grade levels above her peers—-some of whom, for obvious reasons, took to teasing her, calling her Belle instead, after the heroine in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. It bothered her at first, but once her mother explained that ‘belle’ means beauty in French and that comparing her to Belle from the movie was a complement, Beauty wore that moniker with pride.

Naturally, Beauty became a librarian, having earned two bachelor’s degrees; one in Library Sciences, along with one in Early Childhood Education, and her MA in Librarianship. She holds the position of Head Archivist at The New York Public Library in Manhattan—where she eventually met Stephen Strange. She also runs an after-school library programs for children ages 4-7 and 8-12.

Beauty loves to cook and bake, having eagerly helped her mother at mealtimes from before she even started kindergarten. She even considered attending culinary school instead of university, thinking someday she might like to open her own bakery—but her love of literature and books in general, won out. Still, her family and friends enjoy the meals and desserts she makes for them, especially during any holidays.

She is in her early thirties when she meets Stephen Strange. I haven’t factored the five years of The Snap into her age, as I prefer to either write her as meeting Stephen afterwards, or in an AU where it doesn’t occur at all or hasn’t happened yet. If they met before the Blip, she will have blipped too, so her age difference with Stephen remains the same.

6: Describe your OC’s love life.

Beauty has a very romantic, wistful and sentimental nature (honestly, I gave her those qualities because they are mine as well 😉) Even as a teenager, she developed crushes very easily and was never shy about giving her heart away. This has given her plenty of happy experiences and satisfying relationships—as well as a lion’s share of heartbreak (specifically in college and then thru her late twenties)—but she remains optimistic about love and a future where she finally meets the man with whom she’ll spend her life and build a family.

As an adult, Beauty has come to believe in ‘love at first sight’—or at least a very strong infatuation! Stephen is exactly her type-

...she was watching him, surprisingly entranced by the fine crinkles at the corners of his remarkable eyes and the extraordinary angles and planes of his finely chiseled face.  Intelligent, well-spoken, exceptionally polite, on top of being tall, dark-haired, and handsome–why she couldn’t remember the last time she’d encountered a man in this hodgepodge of a City that ticked off so many of the qualities on her wish list, and on first impression, no less!

The streaks of white at his temples and his meticulously trimmed mustache and goatee added an air of sophistication that reminded her of the romantic leads in some of her favorite romance films.  Olivier’s Maxim de Winter.  Plummer’s Captain Von Trapp.  Colin Firth in just about anything.  And even Branagh’s Roman Strauss from the 90′s flick, Dead Again.  Beauty could only hope those very uncharacteristic thoughts did not flit across her face.

–although she hadn’t truly expected to ever meet a man like him…for that was just a thing in books and plays and movies, right? She felt he was exceptional from the first day that they met, wondered about his scars, and was impressed by his respect for the aged and fragile library materials she provided him for some research he was doing—but she never could have guessed that he would turn out to be a real-life, self-effacing Hero. And an absolute Prince among men.

As they started to spend time together, Beauty was very open about her attraction to and feelings for him, although she understood that he was hesitant (especially when she discovered his current vocation in the Mystic Arts as a protector of humanity) and that he was resisting becoming more than friends—surmising that he’d had some heartbreak in his own past, and that he wanted to spare her feelings. But with the same hopeful determination that she relied on to achieve lesser goals, Beauty set about to woo 'her Stephen' with all the talents at her disposal!

7: Describe your OC’s fashion sense.

I selected Zooey Deschanel as Beauty’s face claim, and I imagine her wardrobe very similar to Zooey’s character in The New Girl. Like Jess, she wears glasses at work/when needed.

For her job, she prefers lots of really cute skirts (with tights in cooler weather), soft, feminine blouses, topped with blazers or cardigans. Sundresses in summertime. Beauty enjoys wearing eclectic dresses and costume jewelry she finds at second-hand stores and vintage shops. She wears jeans and capris in her downtime, along with simple tanks and tee shirts—but she owns very few tees with logos on them. She just never cared for them--well, that was until she found out how much Stephen enjoys Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, she hunted down some old concert tees at thrift stores and wears them now just to make him smile.

17: How does your OC do during the zombie apocalypse?

Wellllllllll…she’s very smart, but I wouldn’t say that Beauty is equipped with a good set of survival skills. Maybe she would successfully barricade herself and others on the fourth floor of the Library (her domain), block the elevator and fire exits with the emptied vending machines, and wait/hope for a rescue via the roof. Since she’s in charge on her floor, she would takecharge, inventorying the food and water supplies from those machines and from the breakroom refrigerator, etc—and come up with a frugal plan to make them last as long as possible for those trapped with her.

OR…

If stuck at her apartment, she’d have plenty of supplies to last a few weeks on her own. Beauty would be extremely careful about admitting anyone inside her door, while hoping like hell that Stephen was okay and he’d be opening a portal very soon, to take her to the safety of the Sanctum! Either way, she’d never venture outside unless she had no choice.

Of course, if it’s the zombie apocalypse from ‘What If?’, her chances of survival—given that her boyfriend has become a zombie too—don’t look good at all.

Beauty felt like she was melting. Melting where his skin met hers as he tenderly cradled her face in his beautiful, scarred hands. Melting even more beneath the timeless magic of his patient kisses. Oh, how she had longed for this; to have him finally, finally take what she’d been aching to give him since the earliest days of their aquaintance. A part of her had believed all along that this was preordained—though there had been uncertain times when she had doubted herself, or wondered if the subtle signs of attraction which she had read in Stephen’s captivating, mercurial eyes and his quiet, diffident smile had just been products of her own foolish woolgathering. To her delight, he tasted of the wine they had been sharing and of her fondest wishes come true, while he filled her with a sublime bliss and the quickening desire for more. His kisses were her euphoria and the answer to all those things which she had so often contemplated in her darkened room while on the cusp of sleep, pining for a night when Stephen would show her—without leaving room for doubt—that he wanted her too.

Without question, these were the best kisses of her life, in some part because she had waited upon them for so long—but even more so, because of the man bestowing them. Beauty had never known, let alone imagined a man like Stephen Strange—and thus her heart had been wholly unprepared for how swiftly she had fallen under his unintentional spell. 

Now, as enchanting as his kisses were, she longed from her soul to give him more than an equal share of blissful satisfaction. Having recognized from the beginning, a need in him for  simple tenderness and sincere, unselfish affection, she was ready to grant him whatever he might decide to ask of her.

Stephen took his time, gradually deepening their connection, leaving Beauty weak with the joy she had always expected would be the gift of his lush lips. She had certainly fantasized about how they would feel pressed to her own;  the perfect bow of his upper lip, the divinely plumped temptation of the bottom one. But this was far better than anything that she had dared entertain, as he teased that lower lip against hers, and then traced the tip of his tongue along the inside of her lips. This awakened shivers of sharp desire throughout her whole body, like no mere kisses from her past had ever done.

Beauty felt as much as heard the deep rumble of satisfaction that arose from his chest when she drew his tongue into her mouth, to savor and suckle upon, a sweet foretaste of her willingness to fulfill his desires.  Stephen wove his clever fingers into her hair—fingers which, to her eyes and heart, were as elegant and graceful as the finest of Renaissance sculptures, despite their disfigurement—holding her steady as he tasted her and claimed her, making her want to open herself to him in all ways.  Heart, mind, soul, and body. She slid her arms around his back, clinging to him as woman to man, so very far now from any of the mostly chaste embraces they had previously shared. He moaned into her mouth as she held onto to him, dizzying her with the powerful magic growing between them, and at the thrill of him lowering his hand to grip her shoulder. Though she had seen his damaged hands tremor in many situations, they felt solidly sure wherever they touched her—proof  enough to Beauty that he felt no hesitation about this more intimate contact.

She had no need to question how long they kissed and clung, happily lost with Stephen in this heavenly coccoon. When at last he broke from her lips, she gasped in time with him, and he rested his forehead against hers. Beauty’s lips throbbed from his fervor, and though she was eager to recapture his, she was content to follow his lead. His panting breaths tickled her sensitive lips, and he remained close enough so that she could feel him smile. She gave a happy little sigh and smiled softly in return.

“I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to finally get her, honey,” he murmured, “You must think I’m dense...”

Beauty’s denial was immediate and heartfelt, “Oh no…never. Not even once—I swear it darling!” She inhaled deeply, loving the familiar scent of his cologne which lightly overlay the warmth of his skin, and then she hummed quietly with happiness. Stephen moved his head enough to allow their eyes to meet, and Beauty nodded, seeing the questions there. “You have such a…complicated…life, Stephen,” she explained, “And you have to carry so much on your very broad shoulders.” She nestled her palm against his cheek, and he closed his eyes at her soothing touch. “So many resposibilities that would crush a lesser man. And I’ve been happy to wait for you to see…to understand…that……that…”. Now she chose her words with the greatest care, cautious to keep from overwhelming him with everything that filled her heart, “…that I could be the one uncomplicated part of your life. The part that you can count on for comfort…and support…and even…” Beauty flicked her eyes downward and her voice dropped to a whisper, “Even…love…if…if you would let me. If that’s something you could accept in your life.”

She bowed her head, a little anxious that she had dared too much, and surprised that she had just spoken so plainly of the secret she’d been holding close for all these months. As Stephen’s eyes had widened with true surprise at her unvarnished declaration and he seemed to be speechless, she started to think it had indeed been too much, too soon.  

He studied her face carefully before he replied. “Oh god, Beauty---it feels like a dozen lifetimes since anyone made me feel like you do. And since anyone has seen far enough past all the selfish mistakes I’ve made, to actually believe I’m so much more than the sum of all those years.” He stroked his thumbs along her cheekbones. “When you look at me this way, I want to be the better man that you insist I already am. And I don’t want to disappoint you...”

“You couldn’t possibly do that, Stephen...” she maintained, “You were already the finest man I’ve ever known---and that was before you let me see the depth of compassion in your heart...and how you never hesitate to serve humanity despite the personal cost.” 

Beauty blinked and happy, loving tears spilled down her cheeks, “My eyes are wide open, darling---and my faith and trust in your are stronger than any...misplaced...fear that you may have about letting me down.”

He stayed silent, although Beauty could see he was closely considering just how to respond. The warmth of his palms against her skin was so very soothing, like a promise that everything was meant to work out exactly as she’d been hoping for months. Stephen gave the barest shake of his head and the left side of his mouth ticked up slightly---the precursor of the lop-sided smile which was one of the earliest things she had come to love about him. “A lifetime of experience tells me that I’m unworthy of your optimism, honey---I mean, a tiger can’t change his stripes, right?”

All that she could manage was a soft, disappointed ‘oh’ as she lowered her eyes and swallowed the lump in her throat. Beauty could think of no further was to persuade him and she felt like her heart might be ready to break.

Yet Stephen gave a deep sigh, drawing her eyes back to his. “But as I actually find myself...honestly, very...smitten...with you...,” he admitted carefully, “...it’s about time I owned up to it...”

“Really?” Now her heart was quietly humming, possibly on it’s way to singing---if she could go by the open, willing look on his face.

“Really, honey,” he nodded, his smile grown full and very amused, “I’d...I’d like to try. To try to do things right. Right by you, and...and for myself...”

‘Oh, Stephen...” Wide-eyed at his revelation, Beauty laid her right hand upon his left hand still cupping her cheek, and nestled her lips against his palm, treating his scarred skin to several soft, lingering kisses.  “So...what comes next?”

“Next?” Stephen’s grin was half mischief, half suggestive. “I’m going to kiss you enough to make up for months of missed opportunities, of course...and then...well...I think we can figure out together where we go from here.”

Beauty smirked her delight, one brow raised in a heady dare, giving in without a moment’s thought when he allowed his lips to hover a whisper from hers, before diving in for their deepest kiss yet...

The last couple of days, I could tell S was becoming preoccupied, thinking about all the responsibilities waiting for him after our holiday.
