Finally started playing ME Andromeda, I’m about thirty hours in (so no spoilers!), and…it’s kind of lovely? I get the sense from the fanbase that it’s pretty hated but I’m kind of liking it. First impressions:
It’s very much like if Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Inquisition had an adorable baby. Is that why people don’t like it? Because it’s so much less hoo-rah military?
I also heard no one likes the Frostbite graphics but they don’t bother me? The asari are a little cutesy, but everything else is gorgeous.
I do miss Shepard and the crew, tbh. Love the Liara cameos. Will always want more of Kaidan and Joker and Tali and Vega and everyone.
Do like the new crew, especially their interactions with each other. Hardcore shipping Drack/Lexi. And the Drack-Vetra friendship is really sweet.
I just met Reyes and hooooooo boy. Scott’s been flirting with Gil but he’s suddenly falling hard for Reyes—sorry Gil, don’t hate me forever.
Also Gil just go kiss Kallo already, ugh.
Also also (because Reyes’ voice actor is also male Hawke’s voice actor) my new Dragon Age II headcanon is: after Hawke meets Zevran and does his quest, he will only speak to Isabela in Zevran’s accent for the next six months. She hates it but finds it weirdly sexy. (Much how I am reacting to Reyes’ voice.)
Jaal++
Did the Nexus really not carry a QEC to talk to the Citadel? They traveled to a different galaxy and didn’t think, hey, we have tech that’ll let us say “yo descendants we just woke up!”?
Exaltation is a sufficiently creepy plot point, right up there with indoctrination and Reaper liquidation.
I miss quarians.
I do not miss missions. The open world style is my jam, I love the viability/colonization aspect, love the way this game does side quests.
I find the concept of the exiles to be weird. You sign up for the Initiative, are deemed worthy of being sent ahead on the Nexus instead of an ark (so you’re presumably all in), and you flake out in less than a year because…it didn’t all go to plan? That part of the narrative’s kinda weak.
Though I just got the first part of the Jien Garson whodunit and I’m super invested already.
Really intrigued by the Remnant.
Andromeda does feel less high-stakes than the original trilogy, which is too bad. Sure you’re not dealing with galaxy-wide apocalypse, but survival in Heleus should feel a lot less Laura Ingalls Wilder and a lot more Oregon Trail.
Overall, I’m liking it. Less than halfway through so still plenty of time for it to go sour, but I’m intrigued.

Confession: Would probably have the hardest orgasm of my life if Vetra pegged me with a strap on while whispering praise to me with her extremely sexy voice
M/N: I figure you guys would appreciate the tags they sent in: #I have contemplated much about myself since finding this blog#I may have also come to understand Garrus romance enjoyers a bit more after Vetra's romance#not saying that the dynamics are the same but I do very much enjoy non-sexual intimacy with a tol alien date friend

Oooo, you play mass effect, it finally clicked in my head. Who do you romance in Andromeda?
Also, I really did enjoy the game regardless of the amount of hate it got
ZOMG, you must've missed me at my most Andromeda obsessed, lol! I haven't actually been able to play it since last November, when my previous computer gave out and then this one has been super lousy. However, as soon as I can hopefully get my Vegas back on and thus be able to GIF (and vid) again, I'm planning on going back to Andromeda to finally finish the big Ryder twins romance GIF project I had going, lol!
In short, I've romanced every single option available except Scott/Peebee and Scott/Jaal. Scott/Peebee was in progress when I got derailed. But here are some posts I've made about various things, if you'd like to see them!
Sara's romances with Jaal, Reyes, Peebee and Vetra
Scott/Cora and the shocking, unexpected Scott/Harry romance 😂😜
I was working on the Scott/Gil vid here
I've vidded Sara/Reyes, Scott/Cora, Scott/Gil and my final vid ever was about Scott and his dad, Alec
Mass Effect: Andromeda incorrect quotes
Me at the bottom talking about doing an Insanity run and showing my Sara in her Mjolnir-like tanky armor plus the name of my crafted weapons 😂
I absolutely adore this game and I've honestly missed playing it so much! Also, did you know that Kate Kennedy aka Kai from Halo is the voice of one of the Angara?
Tumblr media
I romanced Avela as Scott JUST for that fact alone, lol!
Anyway, like I said, I never did get the chance to finish making GIFs for all of my romances and I still hope to finish those last two for Scott. As for which are my favs...
Sara: Reyes. I'm a sucker for that scoundrel, what can I say? 😍😇 But Vetra is a close second. I have to physically restrain myself from flirting with her if I'm planning on romancing somebody else because there's no way I'd hurt my best Turian girl like that! 😱😉
Scott: Gil surprisingly became my favorite "I have to make SURE not to click the flirt options if I'm romancing somebody else" romance. I also, no surprise, loved his romance with Reyes. Cora also was great!
I honestly really enjoyed all of the romance options, except for Keri's (the reporter) and not for any fault of hers but I disliked how she looks kinda uncomfortable with either Ryder flirting with her while she's just trying to do her job. I felt like a real creep, I have to say! 😩Then at the end, after I've annoyed this poor Asari at her workplace this entire time, the "payoff" was we went from a table at the Vortex to Ryder's just suddenly outside of her room? Not even a kiss? 🫤(I legit have headcanoned that Keri never actually let Ryder into her room, just went in herself, closed the door, and left them out in the hall, lol! "That's for continuing to come on to me and never taking the hint while I'm clearly just doing my job, you creep!" 😖😂😉)
If I could've romanced Evfra *points up at his pic above* I totally would have because I'm a sucker for a good "enemies to lovers" trope, lol! And I think Evfra would haaaaate himself for falling for the human Pathfinder. 😍😍😍
I clearly have put a lot of silly thoughts into Andromeda, lol! Anyway, thanks so much for letting me ramble about this! Who did you romance? Have you played as both twins or do you prefer just the one? Default or custom? Do you mod? My computer was coming off the rails at the time so I've only stuck to what's available in-game but I've seen some beautiful Ryder twins and some awesome clothing options with mods. 😉💖💖💖

Fandom: Mass Effect Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Minor Character Death, Politics Relationship(s): Lexi T’Perro/OC (Thaia Kallistrate), Benezia/Aethyta, Benezia/Aethyta/Shiala Characters: Lexi T’Perro, Thaia Kallistrate (OC), Aria T’Loak, Matriarch Benezia, Suvi Anwar, Nakmor Drack, Vetra Nyx, Cora Harper, Matriarch Aethyta, Shiala Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Enemies to Lovers, Fake Dating, Slowburn, Original Characters Summary: 55,000 years ago, the protheans won a Pyrrhic victory over the reapers. From the ashes of the Prothean Republic and the rusting hulks of the reapers, the ancient asari grew into a galaxy-spanning empire. Two people on opposite sides first meet during an abduction that threatens to upend the tenuous armistice between the Asari Empire and the Terminus Systems. Decades later, they face each other again as forced allies and unwitting political pawns when the galaxy’s three major factions collide.
Chapter 1: High Salinity
It was bugging the ever-loving fuck out of her. The dossier Thaia and the rest of her squad had been given indicated that their target, Lexi T’Perro, was a pirate. But Thaia had met a lot of pirates over her centuries of service to the Empire, and Lexi wasn’t anything like any of them. Something was off. And it bugged the fuck out of her. After getting the attention of her squadmates, Thaia gestured toward the smallish cell holding their irate captive. “I’m telling you, she doesn’t look like a pirate.” “Why’s that?” asked Paion, their sniper. She was a Specialist Third Class a couple centuries younger than Thaia, but still had the full set of commando face tattoos like everyone else. Hers were red where Thaia’s were white—the only element of the mandatory tattoos that was theirs to pick. “Pirates don’t usually wear lab coats, for one,” Thaia said. Lexi finally spoke up for the first time since they’d reached the prefab base. “I’m wearing a lab coat because I’m a physician. Tell me, do you each possess one lonely brain cell? Or do you share a single cell between the three of you?” Lovely as Lexi’s voice was, the things she said hurt more than getting fucking shot. “Also,” Thaia said, “pirates usually eviscerate people with sharp knives, not sharp words.” “I’m good with a scalpel. Would you care for a demonstration?” Lexi asked.

Note:
This started with an “enemies to lovers” prompt from@skyllianhamster for Thaia and Lexi. Right after came a ton of brainstorming for a situation that would have these two start as Actual Enemies, which is how this AU was born. Initially, it was supposed to be more Mirror Universe like, but I discovered that the constant dark anxiety of getting backstabbed (often literally) that is the atmosphere of a mirror universe was too much for me to handle. Trust doesn’t really exist there, and I wanted an alternate universe where there could be trust and love that wasn’t practically guaranteed to be duplicitous. Well, once the work’s put in on both sides. So the asari are an Evil Empire, but we aren’t talking something like Star Trek’s Mirror Universe. More like adjacent to it. Some characters are still fundamentally themselves despite changes of circumstance or at first glance (and second or third, in some cases) appearing different from how we know them in whatever canons they exist. Others are absolutely the complete opposite of who they would be in other stories. Matriarch Benezia, Liara, and Skyham’s OC Fejla Na’vis in particular. As in, canon Fejla would burst into tears if she stepped on a bug, which, well. Not at all so much here. This fic was also supposed to be a one shot and so I’d started it on a writing app on my phone. Even though it grew beyond a one shot, its first draft was still exclusively written on my phone, writing time on my laptop being reserved for my main fic.
Anyway, on re-reading it, I figured it’s time to share.
Benezia, Aethya, and Shiala draw from the Trinity (@dr-jekyl and @theivorytowercrumbles) versions of themselves—and then deviate toward mirror universe-type tendencies. Musahir Ordaca and Farizah T’Soni belong to @theivorytowercrumbles, Fejla Na’vis and Nefraellynx T’Sein to@skyllianhamster. While Fejla is the opposite of herself, Nef is more “like she always is, except now she’s trustworthy.” In another AU, Nef once sold an unwitting Thaia a ship she’d stolen from the leader of the Blood Pack—without informing Thaia of the shuttle’s original owner—so this was quite the change.

N7Month Challenge - Day 11: Crew
Ever since their first meeting Gil had been attracted to Scott Ryder. The only reason why no one had noticed it before was Gil's perfect poker face, a skill that wasn't only useful whenever he played against someone. The only person on the Tempest who had a hunch that he had an eye on Scott was Vetra, but that was his own fault. He'd gotten carried away after telling her about the poker game against Scott. She hadn't commented on it, but he noticed the way her mandibles twitched whenever Gil caught himself staring at Scott.
The rest of the crew didn't care or didn't pay as close attention to everyone around them. Gil appreciated that though. He didn't really want his crush on the Pathfinder to be known. Romances and affairs happened among the crew of a tiny ship like this, but Scot wasn't a random mechanic or technician. He was the Pathfinder. The one person everyone was relying on and Gil wasn't planning on distracting him. Or become another problem Scott had to solve and think about.
Gil had noticed the signs of stress in Scott's behavior, the position of a Pathfinder wasn't an easy one and everyone, including the crew, came to him expecting him to solve their problems. Even Vetra, who was almost as perceptive as Gil had asked for a huge favor that had almost ended up killing the entire ground team on a deserted moon.
But Gil locked his feelings away, no matter how much he wanted to make a move and be someone Scott could lean on, he wouldn't want to add to the burden he was carrying if his feelings weren't reciprocated. He was fine standing at the sidelines and admire him from afar. He knew the ropes, he would be fine.
Gil happened to look up at that exact moment when Scott stopped in front of the giant window in the engine room. The muscles in Scott's jaw tensed, a clear sign that he was stressed and just wanted to be left alone, but Peepee simply ignored it and had stopped him to talk.
Gil shook his head at her behavior and returned to his work. Some time later the door to the engine room opened and he looked over. A small part of him hoped it would be Scott who came by for a quick chat, but it was just Liam and by the look on his face he was just here to gossip.
"Have you heard?" Liam leaned against the console next to Gil.
"Heard what?" Gil asked.
"The rumors about Ryder and Peebee," Liam said in a low voice and leaned closer to him. Gil stopped working and looked up.
"No?"
“She locked herself and Ryder into the escape pod earlier.” Liam said with an amused expression.
Gil tried hard to keep his face neutral, but his heart started racing. "How would you know?"
“Kallo told me.” Liam grinned. "They've been in there for a while."
“The escape pod?” Gil repeated and remembered some strange readings on the sensors. “Oh. So that’s why the sensors went off. They turned off the gravity.”
“Interesting.” By the look on Liam's face he hadn't known about that. Soon enough the entire ship would know thanks to him. Gil wanted to flinch, he didn't know why he had said it, but he did regret it already.
“Wonder what they were doing in there.” Liam smirked.
“None of our business.” Gil said decidedly and ignored the sting in his chest.
“If you say so,” Liam replied and pushed himself off the console. "I think it's very important information."
Gil let out a sigh of relief when Liam had finally left him alone. He waited for Liam to leave before he rubbed over his eyes and flinched. He had an unrequited crush on someone before, he was fine standing at the sidelines and admire him from afar. He knew the ropes, he would be fine... right?

*Echo took the headphones quickly, shoving them over her ears quickly. The instant relief from the noise was obvious, as she practically melted into Ingo's side now that the overbearing of it all was gone.*
"Thank you" *She signed, mouthing along with the words instead of speaking verbally. The charm on her bracelet shone brighter, and Titan's ball rattled slightly, but a quick pat seemed to mostly calm him down, the ball stilling but the charm staying lit.*
"I'm sure you're used to the crowds." *She said, voice returning to her.* "But growing up isolated plus lots of wilderness as an adult means I'm not really used to people."
*She looked over to the worker, lifting her headphones slightly to hear the reply.*
"Is there an intermission between battles? For people who need a break?"
The woman, although her face was hidden by the Florges mask, her tone indicated she was smiling. Her eyes were slightly squinted in the holes of the mask, acting as another indicator. "Of course, deary! There's an intermission for signings, too. Mr. Ingo right beside you, along with his brother- how are they doing, by the way?- have personal access to go directly to Elesa, so maybe you'll get the chance to meet him! He's very nice."
Ingo nodded firmly, showcasing excitement with little physical alteration. "Emmet's doing great, thank you for asking, ma'am! And we sure do. I can probably get you to meet the star of the show, Echo, my treat."
When Ingo offered that, they glanced back at the fight on the stage. He observed the Garchomp who was watching the circling Vetra. From the distance, it was a bit difficult to hear the commands of the trainers above the crowd, but the visuals were all that was needed. Vetra dove forward, glowing with a dim green light that brought out the sparkles of her fur, and struck the Garchomp. U-turn.
The Garchomp was unfazed and attempted to swipe at the smaller Pokemon, but she was returned to her pokeball rather swiftly. In her place, Slippy the Eelektross was sent out, and she let out an excited trill. The opponent's Garchomp roared and charged forward along the stage, each step as thundering and swift as the last. His head was lowered like a jet's nose and he tucked in his arms to extend out the wings on his arms.
The Garchomp cut through the air with ease and upon reaching Slippy, his claws shone with a beautiful purple radiance. It clashed with Slippy's own purple claws, in turn sending out sparks of purple that flew above the crowd. The sparks dissipated into nonthreatening sparkles, but soon enough, the Garchomp managed to push against Slippy and strike her underbelly. A loud trill was heard from the blow, along with a crash from Slippy striking the wall behind Elesa.
"That Garchomp is strong," Ingo commented as Slippy crawled out of the Slippy-sized crater. He returned his gaze to the masked saleswoman. "Ah! Pardon my lack of manners. What is your name and what are your pronouns?"
The masked woman didn't answer at first. She was focused on the battle, particularly the Garchomp, but then she perked when she fully processed Ingo's words. "Ah! Uhm... Just call me Jewel. She/her. Nice to meet'cha!"
"The pleasure is all mine."

Oh, The Weather Outside is Frightful - Chapter 2
Whumpuary2024, Day 02 - Prompt: Captivity
Tumblr media
Ryder sets out to rescue her turian
AO3 here
Ryder stopped the video and played it again from the beginning. Vetra looked down at her with frantic eyes, the skin around them raw and red from the freezing air. She watched her burying the helmet and scooping snow over it with fingers that didn't bend, and then allowing herself to be dragged away by those kett bastards.
"SAM," Ryder said, surprising herself with the steadiness of her voice. "Trace the radiation signature from the shuttle engines and cross reference with the impact vector from the wreckage. Find me that ship."
"Processing," SAM said.
Normally Sara found the clipped and artificial tone of his voice soothing, but now it grated on her ear and she tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for him to speak again.
"The shuttle disappeared fifteen kilometers to the north-east, where an area of high-albedo ice interferes with scanners. It is the likely location of a kett base."
"Peebee, Drack, we're moving out," she said, and handed Vetra's helmet to the krogan for safekeeping. She handled it almost reverantly, and he grabbed her shoulder before she could turn away.
"We'll get her back, Ryder," he growled.
"You're damn right we will."
*
The kett installation was buried under a sheet of bright white ice almost twenty metres thick, which at least meant they hadn't seen the Nomad coming. Peebee cracked the security on a side door, which is where Ryder left behind her usual cautious, methodical approach. The door slid open and she darted inside with a biotic blink that took her halfway across the room. By the time Drack had even armed his shotgun the two kett guards were dead, heads severed from their necks by deadly strikes from an asari sword. Sara barely glanced at the bodies and instead went straight to the wall console, looking for feeds from the base security cameras.
"Let me," Peebee offered. Ryder was getting better at operating kett tech, but her speciality was still the Remnant. Peebee half expected the Pathfinder to snap at her, but she shoved herself away from the controls and let her take over.
The base was bigger than they had expected, but it wasn't the staging ground they feared - the kett presence would be manageable, especially given that most of them were new converts from the exaltation facility, but the scale of the operation was a shock. Peebee kept flipping through the feeds, looking for Vetra.
"Have the kett exalted any turians before?" Drack asked, leaning against the half-open door that led deeper into the facility so he could cover the corridor with his shotgun.
Nobody spoke.
"Ryder," he prompted. She sighed.
"Not that we know of," she said, focusing studiously on picking imaginary dirt from the pristine leather wrap of her sword hilt. "Dextro-amino acid chains aren't compatible with kett physiology."
"Yet," Peebee said. "They aren't compatible yet. "
Ryder tapped the blade of her sword against the armour plate on her thigh, and fought the urge to tell Peebee to shut up.
"There," the asari said, finally finding a useful camera feed. Sara sheathed her sword and hurried to the viewscreen, where her stomach sank into the ground. The camera panned slowly down a row of cells that looked more cages than somewhere to keep prisoners, too cramped for comfort - especially for someone as tall as a turian. Most were empty. Some were stained with blood. There was an adhi in one, strapped to an operating table and stuck through with so many tubes Ryder first thought it was some undiscovered species of spider. And then, in the last cage of the row, was Vetra. She had been stripped to her underarmour and strapped to a similar table. The restraints wrapped around each of her limbs, one for each joint, and pinned her head down. Surely the kett could see that turian necks were not supposed to bend that far back?
"Is she alive?" Ryder asked. Again, she was surprised to find her voice flat and stable.
"I… can't tell," Peebee said. "But look, she's hooked up to something." She pointed out a thin translucent tube that ran into Vetra's arm from one of the kett's strange insectoid machines.
"What the fuck is that doing to her?" Ryder growled. Her fists balled at her sides and her mouth ran dry.
"Don't know," Drack said. He hadn't moved from the doorway, but now he shoved the sliding door all the way open. "Let's go put a stop to it."
*
Sara could focus while they were fighting. Every biotic lance she threw, every knock her shields took, every kett that died on her sword kept her mind on advancing and off that dreadful image of Vetra strapped down in the cage. It wasn't long before the newly exalted kett were just fleeing before them while Drack complained about the lack of fight in them.
"Fight back!" Sara screamed at them, but they ignored her. She wasn't ready to face that room, not yet, but she still wasn't going to shoot them while they fled. "You bastards!" she shouted, but none of them turned back. Peebee grabbed her arm to stop her chasing after them.
"It's this way," she said, softly, and Sara didn't like her tone - it made her feel like a frightened child. She gripped her sword and tried to get a hold of herself as she nodded.
Someone shut down the power to prison to cut them off, but Sara had Drack to lever the door open and the three of them stepped into the darkened room with their weapons drawn. Their armour-mounted flashlights drew bright fingers of light across the bare metal ground, casting hard shadows of the cage bars around the room. The smell of blood and death lingered in the air. Sara pushed past Peebee and winced at the echoing of her footsteps. If there was anyone in there they'd have heard them already, or seen their flashlight beams, so she didn't bother with caution.
"Vetra!" she called out, but didn't get a reply. Instead, she could hear muffled arguing - unmistakably kett voices. Sara unclipped her sword from her back and carried it in her off-hand, reversing her grip so she could rest her pistol against the crook of her elbow as she advanced past the empty cells.
There was a loud and disgusting wrenching crunch followed by a rattling screech as the kett did something to the adhi. Ryder couldn't make out their words, but they were clearly killing it. She had to stop them before they moved on to Vetra.
If they hadn't already.
The benefit of cages instead of sealed cells was that Sara didn't have to open the door to kill the scientists inside. There was no way she could save the adhi now: they had peeled open its ribs to plug cables and tubes directly into its organs. Anything that wasn't pierced by something mechanical was being leeched of so much blood that the flesh had turned white. Ryder's stomach lurched thinking about Vetra suffering the same cruelties, and spent a few precious seconds putting the adhi out of its misery with a shot to its exposed heart. It died with a gasp that sounded like relief.
Vetra was in the next occupied cage. Drack and Peebee kept their distance to cover their flank, halfway convinced that the fleeing kett were a ruse and the power cut was a setup for a counter-attack. Sara ignored their tactical concerns, too hell bent on finding her turian to worry about things like escaping or even surviving.
Standing over Vetra's still form was another kett scientist, Ryder recognised from the more delicate shape of its limbs - much more suited to delicate scientific instruments than combat. He held a sharp blade to the gap between Vetra's brow plates and made soulless eye contact with Sara through the bars.
"The door is sealed, human," the kett said, voice barely more than a whisper. "If you kill me, my blade will pierce this woman's brain and she will die. Which neither of us wants."
Ryder felt her lip turn up in disgust, but she forced herself to lower her pistol until it dropped from her fingers entirely.
"What do you want?" she snarled.
The kett's grip on the knife tightened. He spoke, but Ryder was too busy looking at Vetra to listen to him. Her thin lips were an unhealthy shade of blue, and the exposed skin around her eyes was bulging, red and raw, out of the plates of her face. But there was a subtle rise and fall of her chest, and an occasional movement of her eyes under their lids. She was not only alive, but conscious enough to dream. That was good enough for Sara.
"Sorry," she said, cutting off the kett scientist mid-sentence. The cage bars were narrow, but still spaced out enough that the brief incorporeality granted by a powerful enough biotic blink carried her through them like empty space. Her sword flashed up from her side in a movement so fast she didn't even see it move, slicing diagonally through the kett's wrist and connecting with the hilt of his blade hard enough to hurl it across the room. By the time it had stuck fast in the opposite corner, Sara had brought the sword down hard between the kett's eyes and split his head open.
"No deal," she said as he slid to the floor.
She heard Drack whistle at her stunt from the other side of the cage door, but she was too busy rushing to Vetra's side. Her sword dropped from her grip as she pulled up her omni-tool - first as a blade, to slice through that vicious strap keeping her head pinned too far back, and then as a medical scanner.
"Vetra, tell me you can hear me," she begged as she passed the warm orange light down her body. She had been out in Voeld's freezing temperatures for far too long, but the kett had been raising her core temperature and applying medi-gel in a way that almost seemed gentle . By the time the scan had finished, Sara had no doubt that without her captors, Vetra would have died.
She decided to thank them later.
The rest of her bonds and the drip were easily severed with a flash of her omni-tool, and by the time her limbs were freed Vetra was starting wake up.
"Sara?" she croaked, and tears welled into Ryder's eyes before she could stop them.
"I'm here," she gasped out from under a wave of relief. The fear still lingered - there could still be lasting damage if they didn't get her to Lexi on the Tempest soon, but she was breathing and speaking, and that was enough to calm her worries for a moment.
"It hurts," Vetra managed, trying to lift a frostbitten limb. "I can't open my eyes."
Ryder couldn't look at the welts around the only exposed skin on her face. "Don't try," she said, trying to sound confident that she would be okay. "There's nothing worth seeing here anyway."
Vetra made a sound that might have been a laugh and Ryder's heart somersaulted in her chest. She felt Vetra's hand brush against her wrist and quickly grabbed her hand.
"Ryder, I can't feel my legs. I can't walk," she whispered.
Sara was glad, for now at least, that Vetra couldn't see. She pressed angrily at her eyes to stem the tears and nodded.
"Drack?"
"I got it," the krogan said as he wrenched open the door and lumbered inside. Sara only let go of Vetra's hand while Drack carefully lifted her off the operating table, and then immediately wrapped her fingers back around Vetra's once she was settled.
"Not the first time I've had to haul you out of a cell," Drack pointed out. He was joking but there was a strain in his voice that made Ryder acutely aware that he had been just as scared as she was.
"No," Vetra croaked, "but this one makes us even."
Laughing almost broke her, but Sara choked back her hysterics. She'd save them for later, when she should could share them with Vetra alone.
"Let's get you out of here."

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on? Here's some Tolerance Tested - Chapter 9: Muddied Waters; in which Macen has some awful realisations and far more truth than he ever wanted
Macen remained quiet, finding it hard to breathe if he were quite honest - here, in the quiet of the pre-dawn, a million kilometres and more than a decade away from the horror, he was still scared to hear the culmination of the tale. But Avi carried on regardless, desperate to get to the end of it, he thought. “Caught them in night-shift, just a couple of kids on duty. I ordered them to open fire and… when they refused, I shot them.” This time, he contemplated the bottle in his hands before sipping it once more. By all rights he shouldn’t be able to speak clearly at all at this point and yet here they were. “Two more for my conscience, for what they were worth. Then I trained the main gun on the outpost’s oxygen converters. Didn’t take much- two shots’d have done it, but I went with four, made damned sure it was a crater- made sure there was no more Dregir.” His mind supplied, uselessly, intrusively, platitudes about how little those people would have suffered; igniting their oxygen supply would have meant they’d have died from rapid decompression at worst and simply burned away in a fireball at best. Either way would have been ruthlessly efficient and mostly painless - likely dead before they knew what had hit them. It did plenty to explain the little moniker he’d heard though. The Reaper of Dregir. Horrific as it was, it wasn’t surprising- well, no, what was surprising was that the hierarchy hadn’t covered it all up. “You didn’t have a choice, baby.” Macen murmured, not daring to reach out again with physical comfort he was almost certain would serve only to put him on edge. “They must have seen that- you couldn’t have done anything different without the fallout being made your fault.” “Maybe.” Tension-cord tight, his voice nearly broke with the word, and then Avi shook his head. “Didn’t matter. One thousand and ten casualties, someone had’ta pay. I did my duty and trusted that they’d stand by me- what’s twenty two years of loyalty worth, huh? Turns out, shit-fucking-all.” Their eyes met and he couldn’t help but see resentment there - maybe not aimed at him directly but certainly at the ideals he chided Avi to go along with. “They threw me in a cell under Eldis; kept the court case small, blessedly, just some good ol’ silver barking questions and getting psychiatrists to prod at me, but it was still hell. Promoted beyond my capabilities and without sufficient consideration to my limitations - that’s what they decided in the end, and that fair enough, they’d let the victims families have my life for it.” Perhaps his surprise at that was too blatant, his instant, roiling disgust that they’d blamed it all on him too loud, given how Avi chuckled - dry and humourless. “Firing squad, Mace, that’s how they said they’d do it. One of the guards complained that t’wasn’t a hangin’; apparently the hanged dance for over a minute after death, d’you know that? He showed me, too.” Macen clenched his teeth, determined not to let his disgust at that slip out, if only because he suspected it’d come out as nausea instead. “I got the last laugh though. Hours before my big day, Saren turned up with a council-ordered stay of execution an’ demanded to take me away for their investigation.” Hours. Hours had been between Avi and being essentially murdered for the crime of doing the right thing- and with that, Macen knew for certain that he definitely had some calls to make. How could he not, how could he live with that information? But…. It did at least make it far more evident just why Saren had earned his devotion and loyalty; why he’d transferred whatever confidence he’d had in the hierarchy before then straight over to him. “He saved your life, quite literally.” Until that point, he’d assumed he’d meant it in the more figurative way but, no, he had genuinely saved him, hadn’t he?
“Dunno if that was his intention to start with.” His boyfriend shrugged, maybe leaning a little closer, looking a little more regretful instead of simply broken. “But he got everythin’ he needed outta me and hadn’t yet put a round between my eyes, so I started to get spooked. Asked him t’just be up front about it and… he put a gun in my hands- put his gun in my hand. Told me that if I couldn’t live with what I’d done, he’d understand and it’d be a right damned shame I’d managed t’get it off his hip and kill m’self before he had a chance to react but if not, that he thought it’d be a waste of a useful soldier.” His mandibles twitched with some half-lost in-joke. “Dunno why I said yes, in hindsight an’ given the hell he put me through in the name of training, but I did and…” “And here we are now.” This time, Avitus didn’t resist when he took his hand, just nodded and transferred the bottle to his other hand so he could keep going, as if he still had more demons to chase away with drink alone. Over a thousand- he had to have a fair few. And… that had been in one go. How many more ghosts had he gained since then? How much blood was on his hands that he blamed himself for? How had he lived with that?

CONFESSION:
I enjoyed Andromeda. I give it 6.5/10. There were moments when I thought it was amazing and moments where it was just meh. Loved Drack, Jaal and Vetra. I saw the potential it had. But there was one element that grated on me and that was Sara Ryder's voice. I managed one play with a female Ryder while I played twice witha male Ryder. Her voice was just aggravating. Sara sounded like she watched a lot of those cheesy teen films from the 1980s.

Entirely out of left field and six years too late, I wrote a ME:A smut drabble...
Kandros x Scott Ryder  ↪ 468 words — 18+ / SMUT
Content tags — cis male dominant Ryder, cis male submissive Kandros, xenophilia, hookups, mention of Scott having fucked an angaran before, dirty talk, teasing, handjobs, and fingering.
“I’ve always had a thing for turians,” Scott purrs, running light fingers over Kandros’ mandibles just to watch them twitch and shudder under the attention.
“Oh, yeah? Just any turian?” Kandros smiles, gripping Ryder’s hips, settling him a little more into his lap.
“God, no. M’not one of those humans, trust me,” the man hums, “I have a type…”
“Care to inform me?”
“Mmm… I like big crests, and fringes. Makes ‘em look dominant… and, oh, long mandibles, the ones that hook upward in the back—it’s a shame you usually only see them in the women. Like Vetra… woof.”
Kandros chuckles, pressing (what passes as) kisses against Scotts neck, tongue dipping out ever so slightly to dampen the press of his hard lips.
Scott grasps the back of Kandros’ head, pulling him away gently to trace idle fingers over his face markings.
“And I like turians with tattoos, bright ones. I was told once, that markless turians can be… dangerous.”
“Hmm, stereotypical,” Kandros offers, “though, in most cases, very true.”
Scott chuckles, leaning down for a kiss, sucking eagerly on the turian’s pointed tongue.
“Universally, though…” Scott murmurs, pressing his soft lips to Kandros’ mandible, against his neck (and Spirits, how can a predator's lips—entire body—be so soft?), “I like the small waists.”
Scott smiles, grabbing Kandros hips for emphasis, squeezing the plates there.
“Is that so?”
“And the voices… fuck. Your people, and the angarans, too. They drive me insane. That deep, resonating hum whenever you speak. Or fucking… Jaal. Or Evfra. Makes my cock ache.”
“Sounds like you just have a thing for military men, Ryder,” Krandos purrs, his subvocals vibrating with lust that has Scott’s spine shivering.
“And did you know,” Scott continues, palm trailing down over Kandro’s scutes, down to his crotch to tease at his pubic plates, fingers between his slick slit, “the Angarans have a, uh, similar form of protection down here?”
Kandros gasps, subvocals twinging as he throws his head back and groans, feeling his cock slowly slipping free as Ryder’s fingers tease.
“They’re a lot softer, without the chitin, like a human woman… but, oh, Kandros,” Scott moans, and the tone makes the turian’s cock pulse, the tip peeking out from his slit, “their slits feel just as good as a turian’s to fuck. Tight and slick, their pretty cocks just as blue, pulsing with that fucking—bioeletric field…”
Kandros’ cock is fully exposed now, Scott stroking the slick member.
“But you know why I’ll always love turians the most?” Scott asks, his fingers trailing down Kandros’ shaft, “the Angaran are so… open. But turians… with all that self control. That discipline. I just love to watch them break.”
Ryder punctuates the statement by slipping two fingers into Kandros’ slit, massaging the sticky walls and making the turian cry out, subvocals oscillating wildly.

AO3 wrapped
8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
i think it was kryterius? that sounds right. i didn't have a very pairing-heavy year!
19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
shit dude i've got a few, might throw jane in with a few folks, might do some desabrudas, might fiddle with some originals
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
i really popped the fuck off with if not, winter. i really did. i wanted good nyria for big bang so i done did it myself. here's the bits people (and me) went a little feral over
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
“Don’t you want something better?” Nyx whispered as they lay together in the dark, facing each other like children at a sleepover – it certainly felt like it with all the escape-plotting and discussions of great treasures that lay just out of sight beyond the Milky Way. “Don’t you deserve better?”
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
The blood on his hands had long since burned to ash, and the ashes didn’t seem to haunt him. She was in the business of making ghosts, not summoning them.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
Nyreen was utterly, unbelievably, insufferably brainwashed. If she didn’t have so much goddamn potential, Aria would have laughed in her face and ordered Gavorn to put a bullet in her head. But she did have so much goddamn potential, so Aria invited her to dinner.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
Half an hour later, the pain in her back had long since faded as her spine resided itself to hunching over for the foreseeable future. Antona’s hand was cold where Nyreen pressed her face into her mother’s palm. “I met a girl, mama,” she whispered. “She offered to take us away from here. I brought—” Her voice caught on a snag she couldn’t break free.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
“She hates me.” “Why?” Nyreen’s mandibles wobbled. “Because I made her love me.” “Is that true?” “The only thing I ever made,” Nyreen spat, biting and cold as the liquor working its magic on her better judgment, “was the mistake of hoping she could love anyone.”
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
“You always wanted to meet my mom,” she whispered quietly. The lights flickered out. In the years she’d lived on the station, she’d never heard it so silent. Then a chorus of screams rose up all around her, peppered with gunfire. Nyreen swallowed what grief hadn’t been chased off by adrenaline and kissed Liselle’s crest. “Tell her to put the kettle on for me.”
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
Aria felt her nails break skin. “You know I’m just using you, right?” Grief had made a tinny, pathetic stranger of her voice. “Obviously.” Tevos didn’t turn away from the mirror. She’d smudged her makeup. Good. “Powerful women don’t have hearts, Aleena. We have ambition.”
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
What a fucking sight she must have made, fat tears streaming into her nose and mouth, gasping like a wretched, half-dead ghoul over some gift shop trinket. When she tried to bark at Nyreen to fuck off, all that came out was a weak, desperate keen. She tried again. Two simple words, she said it all the time. “Bring her back!” she wailed instead. Nailed it.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
It was an exquisite kind of humiliation, the queen of Omega being carried out of her dead daughter’s apartment like a squalling child. Maybe it was for the best that Nyreen dragged her away. Who did she think she was, thinking she’d end up in the same place as Liselle? The goddesses didn’t care if she was a queen. Her title would stay with her corpse, and pass to whatever lucky fuck finally managed to take her out.
✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
“Maybe she followed us,” Vetra muttered. Maybe Nyreen wasn’t such a good liar after all. Aria’s voice swirled around and around in her head. As she watched the clouds do the same, she replied, small and quiet: “I wouldn’t have followed me.”

Confession: I’m not polyam, but I would be for Vetra and Suvi. We would be the ultimate triad, in the field and in the bedroom. And both of those voices….

Good news on the Mass Effect Andromeda front: I am finally Figuring Stuff Out™ (Fast travel, learning how to toggle the objectives and realizing THERE’S A MAP have made things soooooo much more fun) and am vibing with the game at last!
Tumblr media
One thing that was kinda stressing me out? Every time the game reminds me THE CHOICES YOU MAKE WILL EFFECT LATER OUTCOMES!!!!!! which triggers this anxiety in me that I’m Doing Things Wrong© and often results in me freezing and not wanting to make any choice because I don’t want to make The Wrong One and not be able to correct it later. 😬
But once I realized I can just play the game again and make different choices, it felt less ominous and universe destroying to potentially make choices I don’t end up liking later in this run. I wish there was a faster way to play through the game, though, but I’m going to definitely replay it on the story/narrative mode where the fighting is minimal. Anyway, I want to play again as Scott and explore some of his options (okay, so I’m probably going to date Cora if she’ll have BroRyder!me, lol) but I’m still weighing my current romantic options as Sara.
I did a bit of research (*points to my anxiety about Doing Things Wrong® which definitely outweighs any Not Wanting To Be Spoiled* 🤷‍♀️😉) to see which optional romance characters I haven’t met yet and that seems to be Jaal and Reyes. Now, I have to say that Jaal seems to be firmly in my character preference wheelhouse (his voice and style of speech reminds me a bit of Vincent from 1987 Beauty and the Beast who I still to this day ADORE with my entire fangirl soul, what can I say? 😍💗), so he’s probably going to be a big contender for Sara’s heart on this playthrough.
However, up until now, I’ve been trying out the flirt options with any character it’s been offered for and, so far, Suvi and Peebee are currently in the running for the title of 💖Love of Sara’s Life💖 However, I was unexpectedly charmed by Vetra’s reaction where she got all tongue-tied and was practically stammering when I asked if she had anybody special in her life. I admit... I found that adorable, considering she’s this big alien warrior woman who looks like she could break me into itty-bitty pieces and then I swear she was blushing at me asking her one simple little question.
Tumblr media
Anyway, here’s Vetra, if you don’t know her.
Tumblr media
Also... Peebee!
Tumblr media
Annnnnd Suvi!
Here, I’ll round out my other potential love interests for Sara...
Tumblr media
Jaal
Tumblr media
annnnd Reyes! (I don’t know much about Reyes yet but he’s giving me some scoundrel vibes and I’m always here for that. 😎)
I mean, honestly? I’d kinda love to playthrough with each of them but that’s a HUGE commitment of time so we’ll have to see how that goes. I definitely want to replay as Sara at least one more time, though, with whoever ends up coming in second place this time around. 😉
Tumblr media
Here’s my girl Sara for reference once more. 😉
I still suck at driving the NOMAD but I feel infinitely better since I’ve had several people tell me that it’s not just me. Also, at least I haven’t caused us to get burned up by radiation or gotten stuck on a big rock in the middle of enemies until we get shot to death again, so... IMPROVEMENT!
Tumblr media
Anyway, for any of my Mass Effect Andromeda peeps out there... who do you typically play as and who do you choose to romance, if you choose anybody? I’d love to hear about your experiences, see how you’ve customized your character, all that fun stuff, if you’d like to share! 😎
That’s it for now. Love you, frens! 🤗🤗🤗

Callsign: Archon
Chapter One, Part One
"Name and profession?" The person asking was an older woman, one eye covered by a patch and a twisting scar cutting the dark skin beneath it, her tone somewhere between tired and irritated. She held a datapad that looked like it might have seen more wear and tear than the one at the schoolhouse, divots that might have been the marks left by bullets around the casing.
"Ah. Julia. Julia Candle, ma'am." She tried to straighten up a little more, hoping her voice wouldn't crack and betray her anxiety. "Engineer on the neutrino telescopes." That last was, perhaps, a little bit of a fib; she'd only just graduated from the trade school two weeks ago, right before the fleet had made landfall and she'd gotten her first up-close look at a mech.
"All right. Julia. What makes you think you'd be a good mech pilot?" The woman's remaining eye flicked up, and then back down dismissively.
"Ma'am? Pilot? I just came to sign up to be a technician."
"You're in the pilot line, Ms. Candle."
"I'm sorry, ma'am. They're not marked, that I saw?"
That got the most reaction so far. "They're not? Vetra damn it!" She pushed to her feet, and fixed Julia with a grim look. "You wait here, while I go sort the lines out, and if it turns out you were wrong I'm gonna have your hide for a rug, you understand?"
"Y- Yes, ma'am." She was, really, grateful for the jumpsuit, which hid the way her shirt was plastered to her back with stress-induced sweat. She stood there, nearly rigid, while the interviewer hustled away, worrying suddenly that someone had set signs out after she joined the line to sign up, or that she had somehow missed seeing them, or that she'd be rejected as a troublemaker for interrupting the flow of things.
"Hey." A hand landed on her shoulder, and she found herself turned sideways to look at a tall woman with a thick red braid of hair flung forward across one shoulder. "Don't let Chamber rattle you, rookie. She's just hoping to scare off the ones who think they're going to be ace pilots the moment we touch down someplace." The hand slid off her shoulder, and then was presented to her as an offer of a handshake. "You can call me Archon, by the by."
"Ah- I'm Julia." She took the hand, wincing as the grip tightened almost painfully.
"Mm. No, you don't look like a Julia." Archon tapped the fingers of her free hand on her chin for a moment. "Doesn't matter, we'll figure out what to call you. Hey! Chamber! I'm taking this one!" Her voice spiked, cutting across the low rumble of the recruitment field. "I'll get Mask to do the paperwork!"
Whatever the response, if there even was one, she turned away and pulled Julia out of the line. "Ah- She said to wait here-"
"And I said you're recruited, I like the way you hold yourself. You're gonna join Blackthorn, instead of getting tossed into the pool with the other rookies. Welcome aboard, pilot!"
"But I just wanted to be a technician!" Her protest was ignored, or perhaps not heard, as Archon pulled her away through the crowd, toward the landing zone in the distance.

Mass Effect Romance Opinions
Kaiden | he’s ok I like him just fine he usually dies in my playthrough though because my youngest sister is named Ashley and I feel weird letting someone with her name die does it make sense no but who cares I’m playing
Liara | You’d think I would love an alien archeologist and for the most part I do but when I’m not actively romancing her I find her a bit too much and I get annoyed in me3 with her whole planet being taken and her attitude about it as if Earth wasn’t the first planet taken
Ashley | I don’t romance her because of the name reason but I do like her. Also she was right about the council seeing humans as dogs.
Miranda | again I should like her but honestly prefer friendship over a romance just let her be with her sister
Tali | honestly see her as more of a a sister
Jack | love her, one of the few characters who actually has character growth but I’m still salty over not being able to romance her as female Shepard
Jacob | If you ignore the weird flirtatious tone when you go to talk to him, you’ll find he’s not that bad. He’s supposed to be the level headed character and he is for the most part. He does suffer from bad writing though and it’s pretty obvious too. Still I do like the me2 romance so I go through the pain but I do still get annoyed in me3
Garrus | nice voice but that’s it and I do like the tango dance in the dlc but honestly most of the time it felt like I was yelling at him. When I was younger he was my favorite but now that I’m older some of the stuff he says and does doesn’t sit right with me.
Thane | never romanced him because personally I would never ask someone out after they trauma-dumped like what the hell was up with that option??? Still I understand the appeal because hello??? Assassin???A distant dad who still wants the best for his son??? And he’s dying??? Why do I find all of this hot what does this say about me
Kelly | No
Samara | love her I want to marry her she deserves so much probably written by a man because hello we could have just adopted children why put her through that misfortune
Morinth | I love her mom
Steve | this man lost his husband fairly recently so no
Samantha | <3 favorite romance shes gay I’m gay what more do I need to say
Diana | she’s there I guess???
Javik | y’all say Garrus has a nice but nah Javik’s voice is way better I wish he was an actual romance option. Is he perfect? No but I doubt any of us would be in his situation. 10/10 would still bang
James | yes but no because I would have loved having him as an actual romance option but what bioware gave us was shit!!! Like what the hell!!! Thank god for fanfiction because what the hell!!!
Avela | I didn’t even know she was a romance option whoops
Cora | this woman screams lesbian romancing her as male Ryder feels weird
Gil | I hate his best friend
Liam | oh I love him he was the first romance I did his little wave his flips! And his loyalty mission is one of the best ones to do so much fun and ahhhh when he takes you out on Eos for that date!!!! I love Liam
Suvi | she’s cute but eh that’s it
Peebee | one of the more fleshed out romances in my opinion however romancing her as male ryder feels weird and I think it’s better to romance her as female ryder.
Jaal | yeah I’m a Jaal girlie my ao3 history will attest to that. He tried so hard to come across as cool and mysterious but he’s just a bisexual disaster like me and ahhh the forehead touch!!! And of course his voice???
Vetra | you give me hot turian girlfriend and I give you all my money. Also she’s an eldest daughter and as an eldest daughter myself, yeah I’m gonna gravitate towards her. Her romance feels really short though
Reyes | bioware made sure he wasn’t a full romance option because they wouldn’t be able to handle two bisexual Latinos
