More titles of Grishaverse essays I'm yet to write
Last time I did this I called it "essays I'll probably never write" and then ended up writing all of them lol, so stay tuned and let me know if there's any in particular you want to hear :)
The manipulation of corrupt governments and the abuse of Grisha in both Fjerda and Ravka as shown through the presentation of Nina Zenik and Matthias Helvar (this post has been in my drafts for a while and I kind of covered this in a long rant about Nina recently but I’d love to do it properly)
The importance of Fruszi in season 2 of Shadow and Bone; her presentation, her parallels with Zoya, her parallels with Inej (and the subsequent parallels created between the Darkling and Tante Heleen), her parallels with Genya, and the relevance of her character to the arc of the show. (I have a lot of thoughts about Fruszi and this one might end up being included in the minor character analysis series (if I ever get myself together and start it) even though that’s really going to be focusing on the six of crows books)
The importance of the Komedie Brute in Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom as devices of both plot and character, particularly with the interpretation of Mr Crimson as an omen of death. (I know I technically already wrote this one, but I did it a long time ago as two separate posts and I’ve had a lot more thoughts about it since so I really want to combine them and rewrite it all as one)
My personal take on what the global landscape of the Grishaverse would look like if parem had become a global resource (I have thoughts - and a lot of them are about how much I hate the Kerch government)
The importance of denying certain important characters a name (eg Inej’s parents, and Matthias’ parents and sister) and why this is both heartbreaking and literary genius (firstly, you may have noticed I’ve given up on making my titles sound academic, and secondly I have started writing this one so yeah it may come soon if anyone would be interested)

It's a new day and I still cannot stop thinking about that wesper scene!!!
I am trying to focus and carry on with the day but all I can think about is how in Jesper's nightmare/flashback which was essentially a sweet dream where he got to meet his mom again and she was so proudly telling him how Jesper was a natural and he would turn spoons into rings and coins into keys ... AND THEN JESPER USED A COIN TO MAKE THE KEY FOR WYLAN!!!!
Jesper is actually no longer hiding what makes him special. He is sitting with his lover in his bed and having a heart to heart and doing magical stuff 🥹
*twinkling sounds when Jesper makes the key*
And then the way Jesper is flustered when Wylan thought the key is a coat hook and started overthinking his sweet gesture (he is so me!) 🥺
Wylan saying “that is the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me.” with his starry eyes filled with surprise, gratitude, hope and perhaps even love (?) 🥹🥹🥹🥹
They are so used to having their armour up but in that moment they are just fearlessly themselves and trusting each other with their vulnerability. I am going to actually cry now :'",,) <3
God I love them and their love so very much!!! 🥺💙💜💖🫶🏼
I wonder if one day Jesper would again turn a spoon into a ring. Only that time it would be the most beautiful ring to ever exist because it's literally crafted with love for someone just as lovely and beautiful 🥹

They've not only had the SoC script, they even had one for Demon in the Wood
How do you plan on two spinoffs and cancel everything???
Tumblr media
I'm saying this again
Netflix doesn't even WANT successful shows that have a bit of effort and skill put into them cause they don't want to pay for it
They rather produce trash and hope it takes off instead of investing into things that are actually promising and full of potential and have ppl who care, working on it
They all and we deserve better
Let's get them a new home!

since Leigh Bardugo, Six Of Crows and Shadow And Bone are trending i want to once again make it everyone’s business that the cancellation of Shadow And Bone still makes me so fucking mad. It makes no sense. And the SOC spinoff scripts are already written and are just sitting somewhere. We need it back. We, the cast, crew and everyone who worked on that show deserve it

At this point, we just need the SoC spinoff and the SaB season three because these actors deserve to keep their jobs. I love this cast too much for them to be out of work.
Put Shadow and Bone s2 on repeat.

I'm in Netflix's fucking walls. This is not OK.
More to follow on this once the red mist clears but WE NEVER STOP FIGHTING. If there's absolutely no chance for a third season or SoC spinoff (both of which we deserve) then we make Netflix pay for what they've done.

I'm gonna say it, I think I can live with it if we don't get a S3 or SoC spinoff. I want it as much as everyone else, but I can live in the ignorance that we won't have to see Matthias die he can stay alive in Hellgate. I can live with not having the angst between Jesper and Wylan when Wylan's identity is revealed. I can live with not meeting Kuwei (rip to him being used in Fjerda though he doesn't deserve that) and the angst of when Jesper kisses Kuwei by mistake.
It will be sad though to not see Jesper's addiction not fully explored and the reconciliation between Jesper and Colm, Wylan never finding out Marya is alive, Kaz losing to Wylan on how Van Eck feels about his son, but I can live with it.

okay so ive been ranting in twitter about it but im doing it here too: as someone who adores six of crows and thoroughly enjoyed shadow and bone season 1, i am so baffled by the writing decisions made for the crows this season. ESPECIALLY considering they’re planning a spinoff like wtf are they even gonna do there at this point. how did we get a rushed and misplaced half of crooked kingdom while matthias was still in prison. i had to stop at episode 4 because i couldn’t take it and apparently it just gets worse for them. s&b already had a problem with slight tonal inconsistency with the two book series’ plotlines and cast crowding but it wasn’t nearly as bad in s1 as it was here. jesper’s secret that is a late ck plot twist is revealed in episode 1. kanej is happening left and right. wylan and jesper’s friendship and slowburn were thrown out ghe window cause they fucked in the tannery off screen so we lost all that banter. the ck tension of raised stakes is already happening. the dialogue is abysmal but thank god the actors are actually the most perfect people for the roles because sometimes i didn’t even notice until i reran the dialogue in my head. apparently inej leaves at the end of the season. why did nina go visit matthias and make a deal with rollins where am i??? i could barely focus on the coherent plot of the s&b stuff because the pacing and rushed feeling of the six of crows plotline was eating away at my brain. i could barely focus on one over the other and jarring divide in plots were insane like it didn’t even feel like they were the same show. s&b deserved to have the spotlight and the crows absolutely deserved their own show from the start. if they were planning a spinoff they should’ve just teased the crows or let the entirety of their appearances be backstory for the fucking soc plotline instead of having crooked kingdom happen before the fucking ice court in a shared adaptation. idk if that made sense i could talk for hours about how the writing took away everything interesting about kaz’s perspective or at least did it in a messier way or how rushing wesper this much completely takes away everything from their dynamic and what made them so loveable as a pairing or how the crows internal conflict from ck happening now makes no sense but they deserve seperate posts. idk.

currently rewatching season two of shadow and bone and I got to the part where inej confronts for the second time pekka's enchman and can i just say i love amita suman as inej?? sure, they wasted some potential with her storyline (i still don't get why they killed off tante helleen), but i really think amita was the best inej we could've asked for. she's my favourite character in the soc duology so i had really high expectations, but just like in season one, i've seen the same character i've connected to so much in the books and (even with all the problems this series has) i'm just so so so thankful for that.
i really hope we get a spinoff because she deserves a whole episode about her and her past.

SPOILERS FOR SHADOW AND BONE TRILOGY AND KING OF SCARS DUOLOGY
http://chng.it/JFf6sbw2W5
Just saw this petition to make Darklina endgame in the show,
Now I will present you reasons why this is absurd and should not happen,
1. The Darkling himself,
He himself has said he is ancient, and ancient men should not groom 17-18 year olds in the name of love, however much he has said that he loves her, truly sees her, he continues to use her, he continues to force her to be someone and something she doesn’t want to be, not to mention what he did to Genya,
RoW spoiler: “Do not speak of costs” Her voice rang through the clearing, her red hair burning like autumn fire. The patch she wore was emblazoned with Alina’s symbol. It shone like a star. “If the cost was so necessary then you should’ve been the one to pay it. I was a child and you offered me for your centuries-old war.” She laughed, a sad, small sound. “And they talk of the slaughter of Novokribirsk, your murder of Grisha who were once under your care. What I lived through stayed hidden. I thought it was my shame to bare. Now I know it’s yours. Your were father and friend and mentor. You were supposed to protect me”
he not only let Genya go through all that shit, he tried to have sex with her while she thought it was Mal,
if he truly loved her so much why is it that the next time they met each other after the events of Ruin and Rising, it was to use her and Mal to make his way towards power again,
he says he wanted a better place for the grisha, why is it that he murdered his own people when they rebelled against him? what gurantees he won’t do it again? he hurts a lot of people he claims to love,
You cannot argue that we should sympathize with his actions just because of his trauma, he’s ancient, he shouldve found out a way to make Ravka a better place for the Grisha without violence,
A person like him is not fit for a 17 year old girl who was just trying to be with her childhood best friend
2. Jessie and Ben’s chemistry,
yes the way they delivered the sparkly romance between Alina and Aleksander was immaculate you can almost think they could work but just because they portrayed it beautifully does not mean that these characters should end up together,
both of them did a great job with their roles, props to them and their efforts!
(I don’t think Ben read the trilogy tbh I saw him a with a copy of Rule of Wolves later but he hadn’t read the books in that one interview where Freddy joked about kicking him out of the meeting)
3. Alina
it does not matter who’s heart she stole whether its Nikolai or Aleksander or even Mal what matters is who stole her heart,
if she loves Mal and wanted to be with him, its her choice let her be, not everyone falls in love a dark haired mysterious and ancient dude with a sexy smirk, some just want their idiotic comfort person for life and thats okay
you can either except her as she is with her decisions and support or satisfy yourself with fanfictions but don’t think Darkling deserves to be redeemed or that he should end up with her on the show
not every villain should be redeemed anyways
 4. YOU WERE NEVER SUPPOSED TO LIKE HIM AS A LOVE INTEREST
Leigh herself has said that he is beyond the point of redemption and he was the villain from the beginning,
just because you got some scenes of him being vulnerable and soft with Alina does not equals to his redemption,
5. why don’t ya’ll start a petition for a SOC spinoff huh?
Six of Crows is far more better and deserves its own show, why don’t you sign that petition? why don’t you huh? you do that you little shit

The more I think about it the more I believe the whole show suffered by combining the two stories… the world building left so much to be desired (and made I believe made things especially difficult for people who haven’t read the books) like they didn’t properly introduce the grisha orders… they also didn’t do a great job explaining the political scene in Ravka. By putting everything together in 8 episodes it felt so rushed and they weren’t able to properly develop characters or themes
I think they should’ve given each series (tgt, soc duology and the nikolai duology) a season or two to tell their individual (but still somewhat connected) stories with an overlapping cast where it would’ve made sense (like how zoya is in tgt but has a big role in the nikolai duology and makes a small appearance in crooked kingdom)
I am so attached to the crows so ofc I think they should’ve had there own show but as someone who isn’t even a fan of TGT I still believe it deserved so much more
Yeah, it def felt like they gave the Crows so much screentime, they barely had time to fit in SaB plot points. I loved how they focused on Alina’s emotional journey (taking time to show her breakdown in ep 2 was the GOAT) but also, what’s the point of having 40 minute long episodes if you can’t even fit in basic worldbuilding??? They could have easily added a scene in which Alina gets a tour of the Little Palace and gets introduced to the Orders, or have a chat with a courier. They didn’t even show how badly Genya has it in court!!! The Crows had next to no impact on the overall plot, they wouldn’t have suffered from some cuts. I stand by my statement that they should have made SoC: the Show, then TGT: the prequel, and then maybe KoS as a spinoff if the other 2 did well enough.
as someone who is ridiculously obsessed with soc and it’s amazing characters i didn’t like a lot of the changes they made but i’m doing my best to separate the two (high budget fan fic anyone?)… it just feels so disappointing because this was our opportunity to see the crows story as it was told in the books and it feels like it was shirked in the name of profit (ghezen would be happy)
Yup :(( I love love this cast, but BOY do I wish they had time to shine properly. Turns out greed truly was the showrunner’s god....
I think that the showrunners wanted to give the audience the same feeling we get from the crows after reading soc. Like, you'd get the gist of every character without the need to read the books. That's the only way I can explain why they make Kaz that way bc if you think about it, it's kind of him going through the same emotional journey but in a different scenario. Kinda. I would have loved more than 2 moments (map and Marie) of him being the brain, though
I did get the vibe, but only in a handful of scenes, bc part of SoC’ charm is slowly getting to unravel the mysteries of the characters? By having Inej narrate her backstory to Kaz in the first 5 minutes of her screentime, we lost the chance to learn it naturally. I too wish we got more Smart Kaz

HIGHLIGHTS
Realme 2 Pro is the cheapest phone in India with a Snapdragon 660 SoC
Redmi Note 6 Pro succeeds the Redmi Note 5 Pro with minimal upgrades
The Nokia 5.1 Plus finds a place in list of best phones under Rs. 15,000
Which mobile phone can be regarded as the best option under Rs. 15,000? It's a hard decision considering the past few months saw quite a few exciting and value-for-money handsets launching in that price range. The trend of bringing premium internals and design elements to a mid-range segment began earlier this year and has seen several brands competing in the same space to offer the best value proposition to Indian customers. Many of these brands are primarily focusing on the best smartphone under Rs. 15,000 considering the sheer demand for phones in that price bracket.
With new launches from the likes of Nokia and Realme, the amount of choices in the market are aplenty. The smartphones listed below have been tested by Gadgets 360 and put through our usual routine of tests — we don't recommend phones that we haven't tested ourselves. So without further delay, here are the best mobiles you can buy under Rs. 15,000 right now.
Best phones under Rs. 15,000
Phone under Rs. 15,000 Gadgets 360 rating Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 9/ 10 Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro 8/ 10 Realme 2 Pro 8/ 10 Honor 8X 8/ 10 Nokia 5.1 Plus 8/ 10 Realme 1 8/ 10
  Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1
Having been in the Indian market for several months now, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 (Review) still remains one of the top picks in the sub-Rs. 15,000 price segment, and Asus' best budget smartphone till date. In our review, we noted that the smartphone has a great display, a dedicated microSD card slot for external storage, sleek design, and clean stock software. However, the real-life battery experience was slightly underwhelming despite the large 5,000mAh unit.
The base variant of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 is priced at Rs. 10,999 and comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The mid-tier variant with 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage is priced at Rs. 12,999 and the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant sports a price tag of Rs. 14,999. The model with 4GB RAM is the most value-for-money pick, however the 6GB RAM variant can also be considered given the refreshed selfie camera and two extra gigabytes of RAM in a Rs. 2,000 uptick.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro
Xiaomi's latest Redmi Note 6 Pro₹ 13,999 is the newest player to make it to this list. It succeeds the Redmi Note 5 Pro₹ 12,716 but offers only a few upgrades in terms of overall specifications and design elements. The 6.26-inch 19:9 notched display is bigger and brighter than the one on its predecessor. The cameras have also been upgraded, with dual camera setups on both the front and the back.
We think that a refresh was necessary given competition has been building up, in the form of the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. However, MIUI 10 is filled with ads and is based on the now-dated Android 8.1 Oreo. While the phone comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support, only a 10W charger is bundled in the box.
The base variant of the Redmi Note 6 Pro with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, is a good deal. However, you are better off going for other smartphones if you have the more expensive 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant in mind.
Realme 2 Pro
Launched to take on the might of the current stalwarts in the category, the Realme 2 Pro₹ 13,990(Review) offers extreme value-for-money in terms of specifications — in fact, it is the cheapest smartphone in India with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. Other than that, it has a sharp and vivid display with a waterdrop-style notch, fast face unlock capabilities, good build quality, and solid apps and gaming performance. The overall UI's presentation and video performance could have been better, as noted in our review.
The Realme 2 Pro starts at just Rs. 13,990 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model. The 6GB/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant is priced at Rs. 15,990, and the top-end 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant retails for Rs. 17,990. While Realme says it currently does not have any plans to hike the phone's pricing, you might want to pick one up as soon as possible considering they just increased pricing for two of its other budget smartphones.
Honor 8X
Honor 8X (Review) is an attempt from Huawei sub-brand Honor to break into this premium mid-range smartphone segment with its latest in-house HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC. It boasts of a unique dual tone design, good build quality with a glass back, and great CPU performance. However, it lacks a bit in terms of the rear camera and gaming performance, and sports a dated Micro-USB port.
Only the base variant of the Honor 8X comes under the Rs. 15,000 price point — priced at Rs. 14,999 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. There is a 6GB RAM+64GB storage model too, priced slightly higher at Rs. 16,999, and one with 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage priced at Rs. 18,999.
Nokia 5.1 Plus
The Nokia 5.1 Plus (Review) is one of two highly value-for-money smartphones from HMD Global's bandwagon this year. The phone has a great glass design, runs a clean Android One-based stock Android with regular updates, has excellent battery life, and its display does not disappoint despite sporting an HD+ resolution. While low-light camera performance is average and a hybrid SIM slot might bother some, there's little to complain at that price point.
Nokia 5.1 Plus is priced at Rs. 10,999 for the sole variant that comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.
Realme 1
Oppo spinoff, now an independent mobile brand, Realme started its run in India with the launch of the Realme 1₹ 10,490 (Review). The smartphone offers an exciting proposition in the budget market with a Helio P60 SoC, a unique glossy diamond-cut design, good battery life, superb performance, and a decent display. It does, however, lack a few essentials such as a fingerprint sensor and has to make do with software-based face unlock.
The 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 13,990, and is great for its price. There is another variant as well, with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, priced at Rs. 10,990. Notably, the original base 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant was discontinued in India after the launch of the Realme 2.
Other good options The Nokia 6.1 Plus (Review) and Motorola One Power (Review) deserve special mentions in this list, despite their price starting about Rs. 1,000 above the upper limit.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a premium glass design, an iPhone X-like notch, and is powered by the capable Snapdragon 636 SoC. it offers clean software, great performance, and a punchy and vibrant display. These advantages more than make up for its average cameras and battery life. The lone 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant of the Nokia 6.1 Plus is priced at Rs. 15,999.
The Motorola One Power is yet another Snapdragon 636 SoC-powered smartphone that offers solid battery performance with its 5,000mAh unit. Other than that, the things that are going for it include its software with promised updates, fairly powerful processor, and premium design. The lack of dual 4G VoLTE might be a dealbreaker. Much like the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Motorola One Power also comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage at a price tag of Rs. 15,999.
