History of Westeros

The Dawn Age

The Dawn Age is the beginning of the history of Westeros.

We know very little about this time, the only written testimony were given by Andals, Valyrians and Ghiscars. But from where they took the informations we do not know.

The populations that lived Westeros in this period were two.

The Giants

We do not know much about Giants, since no one in the modern Westeros has ever seen them. The last testimonies we have come from Rangers of the Night's Watch, centuries before.

In the first book, A Game of Thrones, Osha tells Bran Stark that she had seen giants and the first living one that we meet is in A Dance With Dragons from Jon Snow point of view

Giants are very strong and very tall (two times taller than Hodor according to Jon) but they are very simple minded. They speak the Old Tongue.

Giants did not have a structure in their "society", they had no queen or king, nor lord or lady, and no leader. They had no buildings, weapons and they didn't know how to harvest.

With the arrival of the First Men and the distruction of the forest, giants slowly disappeared.

The Children of the Forest

The Children of the Forest, known even as the Children, were not humans, they were creatures that lived deep in contact with nature, but we still don't know their origins. They are described to be very small, even when adoults. Their skin was brown painted with lighter stains. It is said that they resambled deers in the colors. They had big ears and big eyes, that could be either green or golden. Sometimes though some Children would be born with deep blood red eyes, which was a sign that the Gods had blessed them to be Greenseers. The children could see in the dark and they could hear very well. And they dressed in leaves and branches. They spoke the True Tongue. Indeed they called themselves 'those who sing the song of the earth' and they could spoke with ravens who became their messagers since they are the only creatures that understand and speak this language as well. According to the Winter Kings and Legends and Lineages of the Starks, when Brandon the Builder was building the Wall he was taken by the children in their secret cities where he learnt the True Tongue. Their society was structured as clans and they lived in crannongs, caves and forest, hidden between leaves and branches in what they called 'The Secret Tree Towns'. Both women and men could hunt and fight and they were called Water Dancers and their weapons were made of Dragonglass.

But what are the abilities of the Children?

The Children of the Forest spoke the True Tongue and it is said that this language, that took inspiration from the sounds of the nature, was able to make whoever listen to it get emotional and cry. Another power of theirs is said to be the ability of speaking with the deads. But the most impostat were the powers mastered by the Greenseers.

In Game of Thrones as usual they had mixed up everything and got everyone confused about what they could do. So let's make order. There are two types of greenseers. The first power is hold by people like Jojen Reed, who posses the Greensight and has the Green Dreams. This dreams can talk about the past and the future and they can talk about the one who has the ability or someone else. They can even see their own death. These are very difficoult dreams to understand, especially the ones that talks about the future. Bran Strak will never have dreams about the future in the entire book. Infact when Ned Stark dies, Bran dream of him in the crypts of Winterfell and he was sad about Jon Snow, but Bran does not remember what happened exactly.

While Jojen is able to see the future, even if it is not clear. In fact, in A Clash of Kings, Jojen sais to Bran that he had seen two children (that in the moment he believed were Bran and Rickon), killed by a man with a shiny red armor. In the books, Winterfell is taken by Theon Greyjoy, but inside the castle there was Ramsey Snow in disguise, that has the idea of killing two children to make believed that they had killed Bran and Rickon and of course, he was the killer himself.

And when Bran meets Bloodeye Raven (known in the series as the Three Eyed Raven) Bran will never have visions of the future but only about the past, because it is said that he has to know the past (THAT IS UNCHANGEBLE).

Bran has another power, that is the second that some Greenseers has. The Skinchanging. The Skinchangers among the Greenseers have the ability to enter in the mind of an animal. The skinchangers able to enter the mind of a wolf or a dog is called a Warg. But there are other Skinchangers that can enter in the mind of birds, ravens, or even cats. And a Skinchanger who does not train to master this power can skinchange only when they sleep. Like Bran at first, or Arya Stark or Jon Snow. So yes probably, the Starks are all skinchangers. And it is said that the strongest skingchanger have to possess the ability to enter inside the mind of any animal, even animals he does not share a bond with.

The dragons would do very well with Modern!Reader, even the wild ones like Cannibal. I think this would just add more to House Targaryen's delusions, but we're here for it 😊

But imagine Modern!Reader with Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes? In addition to having the three Conquerors, there would also be dragons being protective and slightly bloodthirsty for them. What could possibly go wrong, right? 😍

Young!Balerion would be Modern!Reader's baby, a baby to be taken care of by them. They spend time brushing their scales, trying to teach them how to speak "Dracarys" and being careful in general. Absolutely adorable.

When they meet again years later after the Conquest, a huge and "menacing" Balerion finds himself face to face with Modern!Reader. Aegon would be worried that his dragon would hurt them, but imagine his surprise when Balerion spread his wings and let Modern!Reader hug them? 🥰

Maegor would be mildly worried about Modern!Reader, but fortunately for everyone involved, there was no harm and only happiness in being reunited. I can only imagine his surprised face when Balerion got all affectionate with Modern!Reader.

Aerea simply picking up Modern!Reader and taking them with her to Valyria after this show of affection. Not only could she leave King's Landing but she would still have her dragon and her best friend with her. Too bad it didn't end the way she wanted...

Viserys getting all excited and happy when he sees that Balerion and Modern!Reader get along. He had never seen him be so affectionate, he was a dragon, but there he was, the Black Dead, spreading his wings and happy to see Modern!Reader.

That would be so sad... Viserys is Modern!Reader watching Balerion's skull with sadness, but Modern!Reader is more affecting because they saw the dragon grow. Even more so to see him being exposed like this. Viserys would just pull Modern!Reader into a hug and try to comfort them.

The Queen stood beside her husband as the Grand Maester presented the procedure of healing for his hand with maggots.

"And you are sure this will work, Grand Maester?" - She questioned

"Well, we can only be sure with time, your Grace" - The Grand Maester answered

"That's no confirmation" - She exclaimed, once she did, the King with his other hand holded her - "Calm yourself, my dear, we can trust the Grand Maester" - Viserys reassured her, squeezing her hand just a bit.

"You must remember, my queen, that the Maesters are providing the best treatments for the king. There's no reason to doubt them." - The Lord Hand decided to open his mouth.

If glares could kill, Otto Hightower would be a dead man at this moment. Once they were done, both of the men left their Queen and King alone for the night.

"I told you we can't trust these people" - the Queen declared - "They can't even be sure of their own procedures."

"There's no need to fret, they are doing their best" - Viserys affirmed, as his wife looks at his in disbelief and removes her hand from his. - "No need to fret? Look at your hand! You are already losing your finger, what's next? Your arm?"

Not too long after, the Queen starts to hear her husband laughing a bit.

"And now you are laughing? You are such a child Viserys!" - She exclaimed

"To think you only married me out of convenience and you still worry about me like that" - Viserys keeps laughing while the Queen's face of disbelief grows bigger

"It is my duty as queen and your wife!" - She says.

The King keeps his grin - "Then tell me, it's also your duty to help me bathe, stand by my side during procedures, manage my diet, prepare me for bed? If i didn't knew you i would say you love me."

She stands still for a moment, her face was obviously turning red, not out of anger. She shrugs off.

"Someone needs to attend to you in your conditions." - She briefly answers as she gets closer - "As to you, in your conditions." - The King replied as he puts his hands on her stomach that was already growing after 3 moons of gestation.

"I swore i wasn't going to replace the late Queen in your heart, to you and to Rhaenyra..." - She mumbled

"You don't need to, you have your own place in it"

Does anyone else have a hard time taking Baela and Rhaena seriously on that show?

They have no personalities, they barely speak and are overall insignificant. They just stand there.

Wasn’t Baela supposed to have short cropped hair? Wasn’t she supposed to wear pants and act all boyish?

Why is she wearing dresses, acting all proper and her hair is all long? Is there some kind of rule that black women on screen can’t be boyish? Am I missing something?

Instead of catering to “political correctness” and “imposed diversity”, they could have made the effort to actually give them the personalities they were so clearly described to have in the book!

i mostly look at alicent's and otto's interactions with the lense of how alicent treats aegon later on (because he is most like her- it's so obvious). turns out the poison drips through.

young alicent only had otto, they seemed to be quite close too. it seems that she doesn't seem to have any other adult influences in her life -> once he left, she latched onto another male adult influence; larys strong (yuck!!!)

war of the foxes – richard siken

otto is a second son- set to never inherit anything and remain irrelevant. he obviously can't have that, so he rises through the ranks; no matter the cost. He goes to the point of sending his daughter into the bed chambers of the king (in the book he also had her sent to actual geriartic pervert jaehaerys, yuck!) he is very similar to petyr baelish; a scheming social climber

marrying alicent off was the means to an end to see his blood on the throne -> he does say there will be war if rhaenyra ascends because he thinks the realm won't accept a woman. i do think he somewhat believes that, but seeing his own blood on the throne is his main goal, alicent is the vessel for that dream.

so what does he do? he scares alicent, he scares her by saying her sons will be sent to the wall or will be murdered or another horrible thing. he makes weary of rhaenyra, makes the two girls (then women) grow apart more and more. he needs alicent to act like he does, think like he does.

and what does alicent do? she played her role perfectly. she does what he asks her to do, how could she not? he is her father. the cycle continues, she subjects her kids to the same abuse and fears her father subjected her to; it's the only love she knows.

what does aegon do? he turns into a mess, whoring and drinking all day, weary of responsibility. alicent can't understand. why isn't he like her? why did he grow into what she wanted him to grow into? why isn't he like her? i once saw somebody on here say (i can't link the source; can't find it, sorry!):

she was a stradivarius in her father's hand. aegon is a dull knife in hers.

What would happen if gn!baby!reader (Rhaenyra's baby) loses an eye? As if he was caught in the middle of a fight between some lords or knights and stabbed by accident.

Chaos.

That's basically it. If something like that happened to bby!reader nothing good would come of it, deaths and many violent fights would just be icing on the cake. It is capable, regardless of the degree of influence of those who injured bby, the entire family to be eliminated or lose the eye as a form of retaliation.

Bby!Reader got caught in the middle of a fight by some drunken knights and accidentally get cut its eye out. And now everyone will pay the price.

Rhaenyra was absolutely horrified and furious at what happened to her precious baby, she rushed to her child's aid when she saw what happened, she started crying right then and there when she saw the damage done to you. As she clutched her bby in tears, she started screaming promises of revenge.

Whoever dared to touch his precious baby would pay with his life. One eye was not enough, it had to be life.

Criston was mad with anger and worry upon hearing about what happened. Anger filled his body and he went after whoever hurt his bby, he could take care of them later. They would be safe with the family and Cole would check on them after making sure he beat the perpetrator to death.

Laenor was shocked and furious when he arrived in the room with Rhaenyra and saw you being taken care of by a maester, he didn't know what to say or what to do. His mind was filled with murderous thoughts and soon he broke free of the protective embrace he placed around you and went along with Criston to find who blinded you. They would pay and you can be sure it wouldn't be any fun.

Viserys and Alicent were both shocked when they saw you and Viserys was quick to order them to find who did this to you so they could pay. Alicent came over and tried to comfort you, assuring you that you would always be perfect for everyone, regardless of the scar on your face. She ordered them to bring you the eye of the one who hurt you.

Otto and Corlys reacted the same way, filled with rage and strong feelings for revenge. This shouldn't have happened, not to you. Otto would make sure you were taken care of by the best maester and Corlys would help find who hurt you to make sure they were dead. Without eyes, preferably.

Daemon was mad with rage, he had no more sense of rationality when he saw you'd been hurt. That his bby was hurt. And that was unacceptable. He would hunt them to the ends of the world if he had to, but they would pay. It doesn't matter if it was an accident, you got hurt, you lost an eye and he wouldn't have that. They would all pay off one way or another and Daemon can be very creative. Maybe that person's entire lineage goes blind in one eye.

Rhaenys was shocked and worried about you, but she didn't have the same reaction as her husband. She stayed by your side the entire time, making sure you were going to be okay. She took care of you along with your mother and Alicent. Helaena was shocked by all of this. In a way, she already knew what was going to happen but she felt sick to witness the barbarity in which you were a victim. She clung to your side, making sure you knew she was there for you.

Rhaena was worried and unresponsive to see you injured, clinging to her twin for comfort. Baela tried to comfort her sister, but she was just as angry that you had hurt her..

Jacaerys was so worried and irritated that something like that came over his sibiling that he didn't know what to do. He was irritated but didn't know how to help. Jace felt powerless and that's why he stayed to the side, just watching you with pain and anger in his eyes. He would get his revenge. Lucerys was terrified, remembering an incident, and he didn't know what to do with himself when he saw that you were hurt. He was forced to stand sideways with his brothers, hissing every time the needle touched your skin.

Aegon was mad with rage, similar to Daemon. He was livid, maybe it was the drink, but knowing you were hurt made him beyond mad. He would feed the perpetrator to his dragon, he would make sure they suffered for what they did to you. Nobody can hurt you and get away with it.

Aemond was the calmest, in terms of the family, he didn't react as violently as expected. Of course, he was furious that anyone would dare touch you, let alone maim you, hurt you. But a part of him warmed to the prospect that this was fate, the two of you truly belonged together.

Everything indicated. Of course, he would make sure whoever cut you was dead, but not before taking a good look at you. So perfect.
