C pointing to A staring at them and B and going “oh, I think your partner’s starting to get mad at me”

imagine A and B have got history and A sees B kissing C; “so who’s the better kisser, me or C?” and it sounds like a joke, but the irritated look on their face says otherwise

A wants to hate C for it because they are jealous and they want to be doing that stuff with B, but they can’t bring themselves to hate because C is just that perfect and in all honesty A can understand why B would like them (honestly it’s givingg heather by conan gray)

Character B has a massive crush on Character A. They kick themself for it, since they're only friends— close friends— and there's no way Character A would ever be okay with it.

Except Character A already knows. In fact, they thought it was obvious. Just something they never spoke of. Maybe bc A was waiting for B to be ready to say it.

One day someone flirts with B, making then uncomfortable, and A is immediately on the offense. They tell them to back off. Because B already has feelings for someone.

B stumbles through a thank you, but saying they didn't have to, or didn't have to lie to them. Leading A to say something like "I think they deserve to know your heart belongs to me if they're going to be hitting on you like that," or something of the sort.

B didn't like the funeral.

He didn't like the black clothes. The Victorian element of it all. He didn't like the church.

He didn't like A's grave.

He sat on the grass covered in weeds and ripped them out, then ripped out the flowers too and stared at the stone.

A was dead.

Stone was the rest of them.

They were there.

B ripped the grass away. Then the dirt. He ripped at the wood and their flesh and held their heart.

Ship dynamic: Character A is a recovering germaphobe who started attending therapy after realising that their phobia was taking away from their quality of life. One of the strategies that they've found most helpful is - when they're worrying about a certain illness, virus, disease, ect - doing lots of research on what to do if they or someone else gets the thing, instead of trying to prevent it from happening to begin with. This has meant that A is an absolutely excellent person to be around when you're sick, injured, or ill.

Cue Person B, A's old friend who's always getting sick, and I mean always. They haven't seen A in ages now, because as A's germaphobia got worse and worse, B's constant illnesses made A want to be near them less and less. Now, though, A feels like they can finally face up to B again, and is realising that they've missed them quite a lot, too.

As always, though, B is unwell, but this time it's different. This time, despite the years of absence, A is willing to help.

A holding a dying, bleeding out B close to their chest as they wait for paramedics that never end up coming, the former’s tears staining the latter’s clothes, as A sings “You are my sunshine” to B.

A is trying so hard to keep their voice steady, but A doesn’t get to finish the song before B goes lifeless in their arms so the last lyric “Please don’t take my sunshine away” comes out strained and desperate as A fails to stop their voice from breaking.

"Look out!" A yelled.

A pushed B out of the way of the fast-approaching car. There was a terrible crushing sound as the vehicle ran right over A and sped off down the road.

"A!" B cried.

B scrambled over to A, who was currently sprawled out on the pavement. There was blood pouring out from a wound on their torso and pooling on the ground.

"A, oh my gosh, A!" B pressed their hands over the wound to try and stop the bleeding, "it's gonna be okay, I'll call an ambulance, I-"

"Don't...bother," A managed to say.

B pulled out their phone but A pushed it down with a surprising amount of strength for someone who just got ran over.

"I'm gonna be fine." A smiled.

B looked back down at A's wound, which was... gone.

"What the-" B started.

A stood up and dusted themselves off. They held a hand out to B and helped them stand. They wordlessly crossed the street and sat down at a nearby bench.

"I suppose now is a good time to talk about my... uh... abilities."

"Abilities?" B asked, "are you a vampire?"

"What?" A blinked in surprise, "no, I'm not a vampire!"

"Is this why you don't go out in the sun!?"

"Wha- no! You know I have sensitive skin!"

"Is this why you're pale all the time!?"

"I can't help my skin tone, B! And I refuse to get a spray tan!"

"But if you're a vampire-"

"I'm not a vampire!" A shouted.

B gave A an incredulous look.

"Look," A sighed, "I have a healing factor, which means my cells are in a constant state of regeneration. It's why even though my skin is sensitive, my sunburns always go away within minutes. It's why I never get drunk. It's why I don't age. And it's also why when I get hurt... I don't stay hurt."

"So... you're not a vampire?" B asked.

"No, B, I'm not a vampire," A said.

There was a long pause as B took in A's words.

"Then what are you?" A asked.

"I guess you could say I'm... an immortal?" B cracked a sheepish grin.

Ship Dynamic that I want to put into the world:

Character A is a cat shapeshifter, like the Tumblr story of the cat with the house key on their collar.

Character B is a bird in human form, like the Vocaloid song "Seasonal Feathers" or the story of the crane wife.

A freed B from a hunter's trap while B was in bird form.

Later, in human form, B won A over and got the key to their house.

So B knows about A's secret, but A doesn't know about B's.

This can be played for fluff or hurt/comfort, maybe angst if you want to go the "Seasonal Feathers" route.

Honestly though, my first thought was humor, 'cause...

A's basically a cat.

B's a bird.

Cue shenanigans.

What do Avery and Beyond do as adults?

Hi this took me forever to answer because it's sort of weird to answer?? Like, I'm not actually fully 100% sure what you mean or how to answer but I'm doing my best because i love these questions???

They spend a lot of their time traveling. Mostly because Avery needs sunlight to thrive and the minute it goes into winter seasonal depression kicks in. Usually, they go to nice, sunny places. They went to LA together a few times, spent most of their time generally unsettling the residents with their weird behavior. It was a good time for them (not for the people who lived there permentantly tho lol)

Avery likes music, she can play 3 different instruments semi decently. So, sometimes they will play sort of mediocre covers of the anime openings that Beyond likes. Beyond gets super into both sewing and decorating things. This does lead to A making jokes about him being her househusband. It's okay though, he doesn't mind

Sometimes they do casework together, because old habits do in fact die hard, but usually it's just whenever they see something interesting that L probably hasn't noticed yet because he's busy with something else and they want to beat him to it (they have succeeded at this maybe 3 times but it's okay they're doing their best)

A goes to therapy!! Sort of!! They kind of have to lie a bit to their therapist because of the whole "hide your identity" thing, but they do get help for their copious amounts of mental illness. Beyond also eventually ends up doing therapy, still with some lying but hey, at least he's trying

Avery writes Beyond songs without lyrics on her piano. Beyond helps Avery clean their depression nest whenever winter rolls around or they've just been having a hard time. Avery finds Beyond nice trinket stores no matter what country they're staying in so he can add shiny things to his ever-growing collection. Beyond paints Avery's nails every week and helps them dye their hair. They both get overestimated from walking barefoot on the beach in LA. They draw on each other's skin with his makeup when they get bored. They get up ridiculously early to watch Akazukin Chacha reruns on the international cable. They fill their time with other things.

They heal.
